Speaker 2 (00:56):
Hello and welcome. I'm doctor Troy. Isn't this a pleasant title?
Don't you just want to confess everything? Oh? It's just
so freeing. No, we don't wake up thinking that. But
when people get to a point in their life where
they're just at dire straits, or at their wits end,
or they've just had enough, they will often start with
confession and they'll feel better, but change is rarely produced.
(01:21):
And ultimately, if you've come from the old model of church,
where confession is saying how sorry you are, which tends
to be a Catholic thing, then this may be right
up your alley. Now, confession for most of us is
simply to confess exactly what we did. But the problem
is that people think that, well, I'm gonna have to
tell everything that I've done to everyone. Well, you could,
(01:45):
but that's actually not the reason why you did all
the things, and that's why confession may not be so
helpful for you. You have to get to the root
of why you did what you did, what is the
fear behind your actions? So we tend to look at
our actions rather than look at why we did what
we did. So let's say that I, oh, I go
(02:07):
ahead and lie to somebody about oh something that I think, Oh,
how good of a volleyball player are you? Trade? Well,
I'm amazing, I'm great, I play awesome. In fact, we
should have a tournament, and you're going to be so
impressed with how good I am. And you just almost
want to throw up when you hear things like that.
But let's say that I did that and then I
(02:27):
get there and now I'm not that great of a player,
and so I make lots of excuses. It was too windy,
the ball was kind of flat, or whatever. So the
confession is is that I'm a liar. Well, that's actually
probably true, but it's not really the real reason why
you lied. So that real reason is the fear behind
(02:49):
why you lied. So if you're really get to go
for confession, you really want to very much express what
are you afraid of, what makes you fear? What do
you believe about yourself? Now, the other day, I was
working with somebody and they were not afraid of something,
and that was kind of evident, but they definitely felt
(03:12):
like something was stolen from them. And I find that
a very close second. When we feel very unhappy about
a certain situation or group of people or whatever, we
might think, instead of being afraid of them, that we've
actually got something stolen from us. I am afraid that
I have lost something would be what we are afraid of,
(03:35):
and so it's okay to say, hey, I feel like
I've had something stolen from me. These two concepts can
be super helpful when it comes to expressing exactly what
you feel inside, and once you do and get it
all out and you kind of look at it directly
and let all of your fears out. This is probably
not a one and done thing, but it's a wonderful
(03:57):
way to start of just simply expressing your fears then
being able to now look at that and say, is
this even remotely ere reality? Now? It probably is that
you are indeed afraid of these things. But I'm going
to recontextualize that for you just a little bit. The
fear that you might experience is based on the body. Now,
(04:19):
if you believe you're just a body and you have
no spiritual wherewithal or have any idea beyond this life,
you're going to want to do a little bit deeper
soul searching. What do you really believe? Now, for those
out there that may are maybe in that particular document,
I'm happy to go through the thirty thousand foot view,
thirty second elevator kind of spiel about how do we
(04:42):
get some understanding about what we are? And I have
to ask folks, well, life, are you alive? Yes? Are
you conscious? Well? I think so great? Is the body alive? Yeah?
Did you know that the they have actually measured the
body when somebody passes and there is the slightest amount
(05:06):
of weight loss once they're dead, like something left. And
if you're still uncertain, go read some books on near
death experiences. There are many. Oh, well, that's just an
after brain blah blah blah. I said, well, it's a
bit more difficult to believe those when somebody says that
(05:26):
they were floating above their body and then they went
into another room and heard the conversation that their family
was having about them, and then when they came back
into their body, they told them exactly what they said
and they were right. So you go try to figure
that one out and still lie to yourself. But if
you're interested that there may be something more grand beyond yourself,
(05:50):
and sense that when your brain is actually still and
you're at peace, and you're sitting there and your mind
is still and you're still alive. By the way, some
people think that if they stop thinking, they're going to die.
And when you stop thinking and you're still alive and
you're sitting there and you find that the most overwhelming
(06:10):
joy and peace envelop you, Well, my friend, you are
the life. What is alive cannot die, and what seems
to die was never alive. So with that idea or understanding,
I'll let that kind of play around with you. But
for the vast majority of us, let's get back to it.
(06:33):
So as we get to this process of letting go
of all of our fears and confessing them, the real
deep stuff, the stuff that kind of makes us cringe worthy.
Imagine you sitting around a table with five of your
closest friends, and each of you are going to go
in turn and say, what are your biggest fears? Well, now,
my biggest fear is actually telling my biggest fears. I
(06:55):
didn't realize I had one above it to complete strangers
or people that I know, What will they think of me?
How will they react? And of course we all have
these fears, and once we start letting them out, we
start realizing, my gosh, we all feel the same way,
yes for the most part, unless you've handled them already.
So as we release these fears and now we see them,
(07:15):
we then hand them to spirit or to your intuition
if you will, if that's a better term for you,
that's not so scary. Some people don't like the idea
of God or Jesus or Christ being in them, or
of them or one with them. But they might be
okay with spirit, and they might be better with intuition. Great,
whatever word works for you is fine. Be still, hand
(07:38):
those things to your intuition or Christ, and then ask
what do you say I am? And listen very carefully.
Once you hand Christ or your intuition that list, and
then they do whatever they do with it. And then
they tell you what is real about you. You may
(07:58):
want to write it down. It may be so profound
that you can't hardly believe it. Believe it. We are
playing way smaller than we are. We are way more
than we ever thought possible. And so with that. Once
you get that, now the real fun begins. What do
you want me to do? Now? Now that you've told
(08:21):
me what I am, what my identity is. I've given
up the identity of lack of a piece of crap,
or I'm garbage or I'm nothing, or I am awful,
or I am ugly, or I am a nuisance or
I am small, or I am fat, or I am
(08:42):
whatever you think or stupid or whatever that the world
has told you and you believed it. Once you've let
that go, and now you have your real identity, What
does it want you to do. Now, that is where
your life begins to take a completely radical shift and
you begin to live the most amazing things that you
(09:04):
ever thought possible, things that you didn't even realize were
ahead of You come effortless. There may be some struggle
along the way, but you realize it's only you resisting
being that identity. As you stop resisting and allow yourself
to fully go into that beautiful existence that is yours,
(09:25):
that is something grand not grandiose. That is the lie,
but grandeur is the real stuff. So if your brain
tried to hand you another lie, when you handle all
these things away and you're like, that ain't me, you'll know,
you know what, that's still part of the lies. I believe.
I'm going to trust the one that is filled with light,
(09:47):
filled with love, filled with joy, filled with peace. Your
identity should be so massive that it's really hard to believe.
That's really who I am. Yes, it really is. And
so if you get to that point and you hear
that voice tell you and you write it down, I
(10:08):
would love to know what your identity is because we
need each other, and your identity should be shouted from
the rooftops. This is who I am. What do I
need to come alongside me that will compliment my identity?
Because I need you just as much as you need me.
We're in this together as one. Until next time, I'm
(10:30):
doctor Troy, and remember you have nothing to do, only
something to see.
