Now don't you be late. Wrestling Punk has never felt
this great. Tails, ladders, chairs, they

lowest fall. Great lower tails from the ring.
(00:27):
Every chain, every cheer they'llbring.
(00:48):
Brothers and sisters, welcome back.
Welcome back to your favorite viral sensation, the Devon of
the Duke podcast. This is a limited edition series
hosted by your main man. Duke loves wrestling.
And of course, the five time Hall of Famer, the YouTube star,
the man who's still selling out arenas, who's still meeting and
(01:10):
greeting all of you wonderful fans all over the nation,
Brother Devon Dudley. What's going on there, Devon?
Hey, how you doing, Duke? I'm all right.
Just got my eyes dilated. Got your eyes dilated?
Are you seeing clearly yet or you're still you're still a
little fuzzy? You're starting to come in now.
Yeah. Like I'm starting to see things
without squinting. It was rough.
(01:31):
Now, when I first came back home, it was rough.
That was like maybe 30 minutes ago.
And I had, I had to lay down andget my bearings.
I couldn't, I couldn't see anybody that gets their eyes
dilated, which I'm sure it's about everybody who's listening
to the show has had this done. It's it's no joke, 'cause you
can't see. And of course, I had to drive
(01:51):
home myself. Jeez, that's always scary.
That's always. Now, I'm sure you have a good
pair of sunglasses and stuff like that, right?
Yeah, but for some reason I was not thinking about bringing them
for some reason. I don't know why.
Damn, I don't know why. That's heavy, but it's all good.
(02:12):
It always kind of scares me a little bit when I get my eyes
dilated because this is what it feels like to to really
dramatically lose your eyesight. So it's always like, oh, God, I
can't wait for this to be over. Yeah.
It's it's a scary thing, man. Yeah, it is, It is.
And, and much respect to everybody out there, especially
(02:33):
folks who are legally blind. You know, we're just getting a
little taste of what you have todeal with every day.
So definitely much respect to those folks.
Funny My my lady laughing at me because I'm like, I'm trying to
get to the bed and I'm reaching and this and that and I'm like,
all right. I was like, one day, one day
you're gonna have to go through this, Daddy.
(02:54):
Keep laughing at my ass. We're all gonna get there.
We're all gonna get there. You know, listen, man, you had a
hell of a, a weekend for yourself there.
I, I, I hear that you were out rubbing the elbows with with
movie stars and legends and whathave you.
You know, you were, you were outthere living it up.
(03:15):
You you even met one of your alltime heroes, right?
Well, you got jokes and you know, I, I will say this,
anybody that knows me, who's been in my life knows how I am
about the movie The Exes. And they know how petrified I am
(03:37):
of that movie. Now, most people like, Oh,
whatever this generation nowadays may not be like that
because of the fact that they'vebeen synthesized to, to a lot of
stuff. So watching something like the
exorcist may not be anything forthem at least, but for me it is.
And you got to understand, I grew up with both my parents
(03:57):
being reverence reading the Bible, reading about exorcism
that Jesus performed during his dime and things like that.
And just demonic stuff in general.
So, you know, I was scared to meet Linda, petrified because
she, it scared me. So to the point where whenever a
(04:18):
commercial would come on and it would say the Exorcist, I mean,
on Thursday 1, whatever, it would scare the hell out of me.
My body would heat up. I I couldn't, I couldn't, I
would shut down. And as small and innocent and
that might sound, a lot of our listeners, it was big for me.
Just like I don't see how some people are scared of clowns,
(04:42):
balloons, things like that. My biggest fear was things of
demonic possession, rightfully so.
You can't, regardless of how bigand bad I think I am, you can't,
you can't. You can't hit something that you
can't see. And they can just have a field
(05:03):
with you, as funny as that mightsound, But I just the movie
scared the hell out of me. And listen, if you go back and
you go to YouTube and you look at let me see, I'm I'm going to
give the right information. If you if you type in the debut
of the Exorcist, they did. It was like a whole documentary.
Nobody had ever seen anything like that before in 1973.
(05:27):
The only thing they saw was Alfred Hitchcock, Alfred
Hitchcock, Psycho, and all you saw in that movie.
And I remember when I first saw that movie as a kid, I'm
thinking it's going to be like this scary, unforgettable movie.
And it was just one scene and itwasn't even scary.
The girl gets in, the woman getsin the shower, Anthony Perkins
(05:51):
is there stabbing her. All you do is see the knife go
up and down, up and down, and all you see is like red,
whatever dye or what have you inthe shower with the water.
But people back in 1960, whatever it was thought that was
the scariest thing in the world. Now all of a sudden here comes
The Exorcist and blows away anything that Alfred had gotten.
(06:13):
No disrespect to Alfred, but just blows away anything that he
could have created horror wise that could stand the test of
time today. The Exorcist was something that
just really, really floored me for many, many years.
And I blame my mother. I blame my mother.
I'm mad at my mother because sheallowed me to watch that thing,
(06:37):
you know, and you know, my mother, you know, my mother was
I, I told the story. My mother was pregnant at 15,
had me at 16. So, you know, a lot of her life
was kind of like stopped becauseshe was pregnant with me.
But one of the things she used to do is take me to the movies
with her if she couldn't find a babysitter.
(06:57):
And one of the movies I saw withher was Carried Sissy Spacer.
And at that age that I saw that movie, when I look at that now,
it wasn't scary, but when I think about looking at it at a
young age, I shouldn't have saw that at that age and the
Exorcist the same thing. I just shouldn't have seen it.
There are grown people right nowthat say they still can't to
(07:20):
this day watch that movie because it taps into something
that it was just horrifying. You know, the, the voice, the
face more than anything. I think that's what got me a lot
was the face. And seeing Linda Blair when she
played that movie as a 12 year old girl looking like that, it
(07:42):
just scarred me for life. And so I basically knew that one
day I'd have to get over my feetof this woman or this movie in
general. And I remember I was I was at
the con and I was at the hotel. I went downstairs and gave me
some water. And as I'm walking back to the
(08:04):
elevator, I see these Flyers on the on the table.
So I grabbed it because it said after party.
I was like, oh, where is this at?
And when, and I see I'm looking at the guests and all of a
sudden I see Linda Blair. I go nowhere.
I go, she's not here and showingup.
She was, I called my agent and Iwas like, hey, is Linda Blair
(08:25):
here? And I think so.
I was like, oh man, I got to meet her and the guy goes, I
thought she was scared to death of that movie.
I said, yes, the only way I'm going to get over it is if I
meet her because I saw the making of the Exorcist after it
had been around for 25 years. They remastered it and did all
of that. And then they did the the making
of it. And I remember seeing that and
(08:49):
it kind of took away from the movie a little bit because you
saw how the magic was made, in other words, how they did
things. So it kind of desensitize it for
me a little bit, but not enough to where I can still watch the
movie by myself. Like I said, the voice gets me,
the face gets me. And when you start hearing the
priest talk about the exorcism and the demonic depression and
(09:10):
why the devil does what he does, that there alone scared me.
And those are just the words because, again, I grew up in a
Christian home, that that stuff is real and it happens.
No, nobody's going to be spinning pea soup or turning
their head completely around. But the other stuff that was
happening, I mean, I've heard oflevitation and all of that and
(09:34):
the way they act when they are possessed.
You try to hold them down and they're just acting crazy.
That scared me. Like 1 of the other movies that
scared me, but not to the point of The Exorcist was the exorcism
of Emily Rose. Because when they're doing the
exorcism, she gets out of the house, she escapes, gets out of
the house and there's a barn, a,a, a barn right next to the
(09:56):
home. And she runs into the barn, She
runs into the barn. And then, you know, the animals
are going crazy and this and that, blah, blah, blah.
And the priest filing corner her.
And one of the biggest things they say with the devil is #1
don't have a conversation with them.
And the devil is the Prince of lies.
He will take the truth and turn it into lies.
(10:17):
And so the priest, one of the things also, because Jesus did
this in the Bible where he askedthe devil, who are you?
What devil are you or who you know, whatever.
And you know when you ask him, Idon't know why this is, but
apparently I guess they have to tell you.
And so when the priest and Emilyrose, the exorcism, Emily rose
(10:39):
corners the corners, the woman, he says, who are you?
What, what you know who, what devil are you?
And she goes, I am Hitler. I am every every person you
could think of that was evil in the world, she said she was him
and then she said I'm the devil,I'm Satan himself and blah blah,
(11:01):
blah. And even me telling this story,
I got goosebumps because it was like she ran down every serial
killer, every person you would have thought that killed people
like Hitler. Like I said, everybody that
could have done evil, she named them and said that she was him
and said I'm Lucifer himself andblah blah blah.
And that just got me out of all that stuff in the movie that got
(11:23):
me. So when the exorcism, when the
priest asked Linda Blair, who are you?
And she said, I'm the devil of self.
And you know, he was like, he was taken back by it.
He was like, what? And told the mom that.
And it was just like, just things like that got me because
it was the verbiage that was done more than anything that got
(11:45):
me. I'll tell you man, it it this is
not the first time you mentionedthis.
Like you, you really, really have been impacted by that movie
and it's. And.
It still effects you, right? Somewhat I will say this after
meeting her, I got to the point where she was, she was such a
(12:05):
sweetheart. She was such a sweetheart that I
basically I, I fell, I fell in love with her.
In other words, and when I say this easy dirt sheets, when I
say I fell in love with her. She had a sweet personality,
older lady, of course, but she was such a sweetheart, you know,
And I was like, I couldn't believe that all these years I
(12:27):
was scared of this woman, you know, because I would hear
reports that she would walk intoa bathroom and people would walk
in there and then walk out because they would that movie
affected them so much. But they couldn't, you know,
they couldn't see anybody else but the character she played,
Reagan Mcneely. And it just got to the point
where I thought, well, if I can meet her and, and actually
(12:50):
really, really overcome this, it'll work.
And like I said, I got to meet her.
She was a sweetheart, loved her to death.
She, she was very passionate about the ASPCA and all the
things that she does for dogs and things like that.
She was very passionate about it.
And that's really all she wantedto talk about.
(13:11):
She didn't want to talk about the movie or anything like that.
And I knew that before I met her, so I made sure I didn't
spend too much time on that. I just told him, Miss Blair, I
always, I always refer to that as Miss Blair.
I said, Miss Blair, I just want to let you know right now, that
movie scared me to death. And I only started being able to
watch it about two or three years ago without being without
(13:35):
total fear, rather be scared thewhole night.
Bubba used to tease me all the time about it.
He used to. Oh God, I hate Bubba for doing
this. We would go into the hotel at
night, check in, and he'd be like, all right, Devon, I see
you in the morning for the gym and I'd be like, yeah, not a
problem. I said, I'll meet you at 8 or 9
or whatever time. We're going to meet up.
So I get to my room, inside my room.
He goes to his room. I get a text message.
(13:57):
I'm in the bathroom. I'm like, who the hell is?
I would always say who's textingme.
All of a sudden I see a bubble. I was like, I'll, I'll call him
or we'll see what he wants later.
Let me finish in the bathroom. I'm going to open it up.
It's a meme, not a meme, but it's one of those things where
it's Linda Blair walking backwards down the steps and
screaming Bubba, you Jackass, you, you effing idiot, what the
(14:19):
hell are you doing? I would get mad because now I'm
in a hotel room thinking about this and seeing this and now I'm
petrified. I'll tell you, man, it's, it's
interesting. It's interesting that ATV star
like yourself, you know, we forget you're, you're a human
being as well. You, you have interest as well.
(14:41):
There are people who affect you as well.
Oh, yeah, absolutely. You got to meet Linda Blair of
all people. It's like, wow, this is all the
way back to your childhood, man.Yeah, I mean, you know, it's
amazing how when people come to me and say, man, you were my
childhood, you the Hardy, you Bubba, the Hardys, you know, I
loved you guys and listen, that, blah, blah, blah.
But now I'm telling Linda Blair, listen, you were my childhood in
(15:04):
a weird sense, and you scared meto death.
I'm sure she probably feels likeshe could take you now, right?
Listen, I told her. Something came up about that.
I said that. I said, listen, I said I'm going
to tell you right now. You want to see me scream like a
bitch, act like you're turning your head around, see what
happens? I said I will scream like
(15:27):
there's no tomorrow. I love it.
I love it. And, you know, and Linda Blair,
she is a champion for it animals, you know, she's very
much involved in in animal rescue and doing right by them
and would have you a great steward for the entire, you
know, world, quite frankly, as it relates to that.
(15:48):
So definitely want to give her ashout out.
Who knows, maybe one of these days we can have Linda come on
and talk about her great work when it comes to, you know,
taking care of animals and and sharing some information about
why that's such a passion of hers 'cause she's a great
person, right? She really is.
She's like I said, she's a sweetheart.
I love her to death. She's she's a really person.
(16:09):
I spent three days with her, youknow, at the Comic Con and like
I said, nothing but respect for that woman.
You know, I, hey, you know what? The last exorcism movie, The
last Exorcist that they did, they brought the mother back and
I think they even brought, I think they might have brought
the priest. There's only one priest that's
still living on that shot. I think they brought him back.
(16:29):
The one who died. Well, both of them died, but the
older gentleman that was left inthe room with Reagan and when
the other priest came in found him slumped over.
He's still alive, I believe. I'm not sure.
I think he's still alive, but I think he was in that movie, The
last one he did about four yearsago.
(16:51):
And I remember the mother in themovie got her eyes taken out of
her head because of the person in that was dealing with the
exorcist, the person that was possessed.
And then you see the scene wherethe mother's in the hospital,
she's all bandaged up and all ofa sudden you see you see a
person walking. And as they're walking, you can
(17:13):
tell they're walking to the to, to the room where the lady was.
And all of a sudden when the, when the person gets to the
lady, the camera reveals is Linda Blair.
And the whole movie theater started clapping and cheering.
Because I think a lot of us, andI did thought that we were going
(17:34):
to see her all throughout the movie.
And she only made, I think she only did like 3 to 4 minutes in
that movie. But the whole movie theater
started standing up and clapping.
It was like, wow, you know, she went from being the biggest heel
for years to become the biggest baby.
Face Everything is pro wrestlingone way or another.
(17:54):
I love. One way or another.
I love that, you know, once again, shout out to Linda Blair.
You know, we'll reach out. We'll reach out to Linda and,
and, and see if maybe she can bless our audience with a few
words there. That would be pretty cool.
Absolutely, she said. She would love to, you know,
come and talk about the the dogsand this and that.
I would love to have on there todo that.
(18:14):
You know, I mean, again, beautiful person inside and out
and nothing but respect for thatwoman.
Indeed, nothing but respect. Speaking of respect, John Cena.
His retirement tour is is slowlywinding down here.
He only has a couple matches left.
Know that Survivor Series is going to have a return match
(18:37):
against Don Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship
and then he has Saturday Night'sMain Event where the winner of a
tournament will be the person toface John Cena in his last match
ever. Man said he's definitely
retiring after that. But before we get into any of
that stuff there you you saw Rawthis past week when you see
(19:01):
this, this retirement tour that Cena is on and what have you,
how you feeling about it, man? Well, you know, it's truly an
error that is gone. You know, it's, it's no
different than AJ Styles, the Dublings, you know, we all have
to end it all the time has to catch up to us and we all have
(19:21):
to end it one way or another. But, you know, to hear all of us
retiring basically around the same time, it's wow, It's an
era. It's really an era really gone,
you know, and you know, he got what he he's doing like four or
five different matches or what he had a whole year really to
(19:45):
basically say goodbye. You know, I only had that one
match and I remember not not thinking about the subject when
we talked about. I know we're talking about John,
but you know, I was walking up the ramp.
Now that I'm walking up, the people are just they're they're
crying, they're clapping, they're applauding.
Thank you, doubling, thank you, Devon.
And I think the majority of the arena, the the majority of the
(20:08):
arena knew that it was my last event.
And you know, I got to thank you, Devon, for everything and
this and that. I remember looking out and
looking at the people and I keptsaying to myself, damn, this is
it, this is it, it's over. I'm not going to ever hear this
again, at least in this magnitude.
(20:29):
You know, I mean, I might make appearances here and there
places, but to come from the ring and to to feel what I felt
as I was leaving, it's over. It really is over.
Not enough for me to want to say, OK, I want to put them back
on again. But it's it's, it's over.
And you know, I know exactly what John feels and what AJ
Styles about the field. You know, I was shocked when I
(20:53):
heard that he was retiring because me and AJ spoke.
I I was making, I was making a appearance somewhere and I saw,
I saw AJ in the in the airport and we were talking and this and
(21:15):
that. And I said, yeah, I said we got
one. Me and Bubba got one more match
and this and that. But then he said, yeah, he was
like, I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
I was like, really? He goes, yeah, he said, I'm
thinking about hanging it up. I was like, oh, wow.
I was like, I didn't know that. And he was like, yeah, I was
like, oh, wow. So when people were coming to me
telling me, yeah, you know, he'sthis is his last, I was like,
(21:35):
oh, did he make that announcement yet?
Did he make that announcement yet, Duke?
Yeah, a a JAJ Styles has made the announcement that he's on
his retirement 'cause he, you know, even in Japan, he, he got
on the microphone and said this is probably the last time you
guys are going to see me live wrestling.
So he thanked everybody in Japan, what have you?
That just happened about a monthand a half two months ago.
(21:57):
Oh, so he did announce it publicly.
Yeah. I mean, it's sad.
I mean, you know, I mean, it's sad, but it's good because, you
know, we're all leaving on our terms.
I left on out my term. Cena left on his time.
Listen, I remember when Cena first came in, you know, I would
have never dreamt in a million years.
I remember seeing him in the locker room.
(22:18):
He used to come in every time wego to California.
He would come in, he'd be an extra and he'd be sitting down
quiet as can be, you know, Wasn't talking and this and
that, you know, he minded his own business.
And after I just thought he looked like the like his name
was in in, in, in the, in the envies, the prototype.
(22:39):
I mean, you know, with the blonde hair, the crew cut, you
know, looking like Drago from Rocky 4I.
I honestly thought that, you know, he was, I thought he was a
bodybuilder. And in my my head, I was like,
Oh, there's no way this kids going to make it.
I was like, he was like too muchof A bodybuild and this and
that. Does he have it?
And he proved a lot of people wrong.
(23:01):
He proved that he didn't have it, you know, so it it's one of
those things where you can't youlook at a person and you don't
know what the future holds for them.
That's why anybody that comes tothe wrestling school now, I
don't sit there. If I look at him and go, he
ain't got what it takes to make it.
I don't sit there and I don't, I'm not going to tell him, nor
(23:21):
am I going to sit there and say that to anybody else, because
Roddy Piper was a bean pole whenhe first came into wrestling and
nobody ever thought that he was going to make it as big as he
did. And he did.
There are so many people that people looked at and didn't give
them the benefit of the doubt and yet they became superstars,
you know. So it's like John Cena, you
(23:43):
know, my hat goes off to you. It was good.
I had many matches with John. I was Reverend Devon at the
time, had many matches with him and Randy when they first came
in. You know, we had a good times.
We really did. I Remember Me and Batista,
Batista first got with me and I didn't know Cena was a was a
jokester. And we we get to the building.
(24:05):
I find out that I have I find out I have Cena in a match.
And Dave, of course, is walking me down at ringside.
And I'm sitting up there in the locker room getting dressed.
Batista goes up to me. He goes, hey, Rev, let me ask
you a question. We're working with Cena tonight,
right? I go, yeah.
He was like, oh, OK. And I said to him, I said,
(24:26):
what's what's the problem? Because I I knew something was
wrong because the way he acted. And I was like, why?
What's the matter? He was like, he scares me.
I go, what do you mean he scaresyou?
He's like, he's always messing with me.
I was like, what? I was laughing at first, and he
was like, yeah, he's always, youknow, messing with me.
He's always, you know, you know, teasing me and all that.
(24:49):
I was like, Dave, what are you talking about?
You know, Tina used to mess withhim.
Like Tina used to mess with him.Like, for instance, if Dave
would walk by, you know, he'd gently, you know, touch his back
or something, you know, messing with him.
And Dave was like, I feel uncomfortable, man.
I feel uncomfortable. I said it's fine.
I was like, there's nothing wrong with John.
John is fine. So I went to Cena.
(25:09):
I was like, I said John, I said let me ask you a question.
I was like when you and Cena wasin OVW, did you ever mess with
him? And he goes, what do you mean?
I said did you ever joke around with him?
He goes all the time. Why?
What did he tell you? I was like he said, he said he's
nervous the wrestle you. I was like, why did he say he
was nervous? He's like he felt like every
(25:30):
time you would walk by him or something you'd mess with him.
Like you'd grab his face and like, hey, Dave, how you doing?
He started laughing. He started cracking up.
And I was like, that's what I thought.
I was like, you messed when he goes, yeah, I'm messing with
him. He was like, I used to always
mess with Dave because Dave was so easy to mess with.
And I was like, I knew it. So I was like, do me a favor,
(25:50):
Let's just do it out there in the show.
I'll throw you out there. Let Dave go to pick you up and
just go, Dave, I love you. And I remember I first seen out
of the Ring, Dave goes to pick him up and then he jumps and he
goes, what the hell? I go, Dave throw him back in the
ring. So we get in the back.
I go, what the hell is wrong? He goes, Cena kept messing with
(26:10):
me. He told me he wasn't going to
mess with me. I was like, what did he say?
And when he told me, I was like,oh God, I was like, Dave, he's
messing with you, man. He was like, I don't know.
He scares me. I was like, he's fine.
I like leave that man alone. He's fine.
He's just having fun. He was like, OK, Devon.
(26:31):
But it was funny, man, because Cena was a big practical joker.
You know, he used to always, he used to always joke around like
Jack. What what's fascinating about
hearing that is that when you think about who these guys are
today, it's like, you know, DaveBatista is part of one of the
biggest series in the history ofcinema in, in, in Guardians of
(26:53):
the Galaxy. And not to mention, especially
back then in particular, he was a pretty big, imposing, scary
looking dude. Yeah, but Dave, Dave was only
tough when you put, you pissed him off, you know.
But other than that, Dave was a sweetheart.
Dave was, Dave was a gentle giant, you know, he really, he
(27:15):
he really wasn't. He really wasn't, you know, like
a myth, like Brock, you know, Brock was Brock can just show
you that he'd take, take your head off, you know.
But Dave wasn't like that. Dave was easily, you know, you
could easily approach him once you knew him because his size
really intimidated you. And I remember going out in
(27:35):
public with him and people wouldpart like the Red Sea, you know,
because he was so damn massive, you know?
And so, you know, that's one of the things I used to always, you
know, love about both of them. Suna and Dave, you know, they
were both jokesters. You know, Dave was Dave used to,
(27:57):
you know, messed with me all thetime, you know, in, in terms of
he's like, hey, Rev, you know, what are we doing tonight?
You want to go hang out all night?
I was like, Dave, like, no, I'm not hanging out all night.
I got to get up in the morning, man.
I was like, unfortunately I got to go to the gym.
Not everybody can look as good as you.
And he was like, oh, come on, Rev, we just go out.
We come back about four or 5:00 in the morning.
(28:19):
And I said, what? And then go to the gym at 7.
He goes, well, yeah. I'm like, no, Dave, OK, I ain't
doing that. He's like, no, I'm just joking.
I go, no, you're not. You're serious?
I love it, I love it you, you know, that's one of the, the,
the biggest requests that we getto do a, a deeper dive in your
relationship with Dave Bautista.Especially in that, that time
(28:41):
period where literally he was paired up with you 'cause
there's a lot of folks who, who may have forgotten about that,
who are stumbling across it now as they continue to research
Devon Dudley, 'cause you're everywhere now, you know what I
mean? So they're like, oh, wait a
second, he was paired, Dave was paired with Devon.
Oh, what are those stories like?So definitely in the future
(29:02):
episode, we'll do a deep dive. I know Dave's birthday is in
January. So maybe, you know, maybe a
couple of weeks before his birthday, we'll do a deep dive
on Dave Batista as a, as a nice little gift for not only our
listeners, but for Dave himself.Because you've, you've only put
the guy over you. You've never said anything.
(29:23):
He didn't, he, he didn't, you know, steal your energy drink
or, or, you know, mouth off to you or anything like that.
You've only put the guy over. So I, I, I think that would be
fun just to hear you tell more of those stories.
Yeah. Oh, absolutely.
And I mean, like I said, him andCena both were great to work
with, especially working, especially working together.
You know, he basically, they both basically were just true
(29:48):
gentlemen, very respectful and students of the business.
Yeah, they really were. And they took all those lessons
and they continue to serve thoseguys in other industry,
especially in acting. You know, Dave, and particularly
he's a very sensitive person and, and he makes no bones about
that. He's a shy person.
(30:10):
Yeah, he's very shy. Yeah, and introspective.
So because of that, I think thatlends itself to him being such a
solid actor. He's a fantastic actor, but it's
interesting to see a guy who he can't hide, man, you know what?
I. Mean.
But they've. Lost a lot of weight?
(30:31):
Listen, I caught a lot of heat. I caught a lot of heat for that.
That when you said that that's the rock was looking Batista
ish. I got a lot of heat for that.
They're like, what do you mean by that?
I'm like, listen, it's a joke. They're friends of his.
Come on, you know, but you're right.
He, he has lost a lot of muscle mass.
He sure has. I mean, and it could have been
(30:51):
Hollywood, too, you know, because Hollywood does that
sometimes. You know, we're bigger than the
average guy. Yeah.
So to have us on that set doing what we do, it's like Hollywood
don't. I guess they don't want that.
Yep, Triple H said something about that.
He said that being on the set for Blade, he was shocked at how
short all these stars are. Oh, yeah, that's small.
(31:15):
That's what. Listen, even the women I met,
OK? Let me see them.
Remember the names. Denise Richards.
Dude, my, my pinky toe was bigger than her whole body.
I'm sitting next to Linda Blair. My forearm is bigger than her
legs. Wow, and you're afraid of her?
(31:38):
I'm. Afraid of her?
Think about that. You're afraid of her.
I'm like what the? Hell yeah, yeah.
They're average size people, man.
That's what it comes down to. You're the big guy, you know?
You're Andre the Giant compared to Hollywood.
That's amazing. That's amazing.
I mean, even the average, even the average guy on the street,
(31:58):
believe it or not, is bigger than half of the people in
Hollywood. That's amazing.
That is just amazing to to even think about.
And like I said, the women are freaking tiny as hell.
Wow, you would never know you. Would never know.
Yeah, you're never know. I saw, I saw a photo.
(32:19):
I know they're not actresses, they're singers.
But I saw a photo of Taylor Swift recently and she was out
with Sabrina Carpenter, who actually Sabrina is an actress
who turned into a singer, you know, so both big, big time
singers doing well in pop chartsand what have you.
Taylor Swift towers over Carpenter, like you said,
(32:40):
Carpenter. She's a, she's a little
munchkin, you know, very, very short, very tiny.
And Taylor Swift, she's got to be, she's got to be about as
tall as Charlotte Flair. She actually may be as tall as
NIA Jacks. You know, Taylor Swift is not a,
not a short person by any measure.
So to see her next to somebody who's barely 5 feet was
(33:00):
fascinating. It's like, wow, you are much
bigger than her. Yeah, it's it's incredible how
small these actors and actressesare.
Here's the deal. Why are the women being called
actors now and not actresses? Man, your guess is good as mine.
I, I, I, I asked somebody that the other day who, who's in the
industry and they couldn't tell me either.
(33:21):
I don't, I don't get it. I don't get it, you know, so
basically actor is, is, doesn't have a gender assigned to it
anymore. That's, that's what they're
trying to do. You know what I mean?
It's not gender specific anymore.
Whereas actress absolutely is gender specific, you know, but
it's, I don't, I don't know why it's necessary.
What, what's the, what's the bigdeal with with using the the 2
(33:43):
terms? I I don't get it but.
Listen, nowadays it doesn't takemuch to make people do that, you
know? Yeah, yeah.
And, and hey, maybe maybe the problem, Devon and I'm, I'm
slowly starting to get there and, and you know, you're a
couple years older than me. I'm coming up on my 43rd
(34:06):
birthday in a couple weeks. Wait a minute, how am I OK?
I I said you're a couple years old to me.
I didn't call you an old man. You're a funny guy.
I'm only I just turned 42. What are you trying to say
about? Oh, yeah.
OK, well, I I got you beat. That's fine.
I got you beat. I got more Gray hairs than you
anyway, so it is. What it is you?
(34:28):
Know, but I'm starting to realize, man, you know what?
It just ain't for me. Like you turn on the radio to
like most of the Top 40 or most of the hip hop and I'm just
like, oh, OK, I can't listen to this, you know what I mean?
And, and, and you watch some of the stuff that that's popular on
TV today and it's just like, this ain't doing it for me.
(34:50):
You know, listen, I, I saw a video of Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent
talking about today's music and they were pretty much bash me
saying some rapper asked Snoop to be on one of his one of his
songs. And Snoop said, I mean, I told
that I told myself I ain't beingon that shit.
I can't stand today's music. I'm like that don't even know
(35:14):
what the hell he's saying half the time.
He's like, I don't want to be a part of that.
And they were all agreeing. But I agree though, you know,
look, to each his own. You know, when we were growing
up, rap first came in even with dog and rap music, you know, so
each generation has its own way of dealing with new stuff that's
(35:34):
coming about. And it just so happens that, you
know, today's meeting just doesn't do it for me at all.
I was just telling my I was justI was just telling my lady the
R&B songs. I mean, they're they're not the
old songs like Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross,
Freddie Jackson, you know, that that, you know, we don't have
like Taylor Dane. What's the Tina Marie, you know,
(35:58):
all those good, you know, singers from the back in the
day, you know, and it's like, where did that music go?
Yeah, What happened? That's a good question.
What happened to that music? You know, 'cause we could depend
on it, man. You, you, you.
You talk about Teddy Pendergrassand and Luther Vandross and
folks like that. But keep in mind, we also
(36:20):
transitioned into John B, you know what I mean?
And and then we transitioned into Maxwell and D Angelo, Angie
Stone Erykah Badu, Jill Scott. Like we, we had a run it, it
kept going, but it just seems like over the past 10-15 years
or so, we lost our run bro Yeah.We sure did, man.
(36:41):
I mean, we lost it. Yeah.
And again, if any of the, if anyof the rappers and stuff like
that are listening, listen, we're not dogging rap music, so
to speak. It's just not, it's not our cup
of tea. That's it.
You. Know.
We're just used to the old stuff, you know, the De La Soul,
you know, You know, stuff. God.
(37:03):
Now. Now, of course I'm drawing a
blank. I'm not going to.
I mean, of course Biggie and Tupac, you know?
You know. And you're, you're a New York
guy. So I mean, you had you had
everything and everything. KRS-one.
I mean, come on, you know what I'm saying, LLP.
JKR S1 Entertainment is probablyone of the best albums I had
(37:24):
ever heard in the late 90s. Absolutely.
KRS-one just schooling people Yeah on like the.
Teacher. The teacher, that's what they
call him the teacher. Absolutely.
You know, we don't. I mean, I guess that the
equivalent to KRS-one today would probably be someone like
Kendrick Lamar, but Kendrick ain't KRS-one.
(37:46):
No, there's only one KRS-one. Yeah, yeah, it's different.
It's definitely different. But I don't know, man.
It's it's it's interesting. But again, it it just even
watching wrestling, I mean, I gotta tell you, Devon, even
watching WWE at times, this thiskid, Javon Evans, who who I'm a
fan of, I like the kid. I can see he's a quality
(38:08):
performer. I understand why they're putting
them in big spots and, and, and what have you, because the kid
has a charisma. He has something about him that
is easy to get behind. But when he starts doing that
flippy dippy, peanut butter skippy stuff, man, I just, I
shake my head because I'm, I'm just like, dude, you're going to
hurt yourself. You're going to shorten your
(38:28):
career because of it and you're going to rob yourself and rob us
as fans of seeing where you could really take this thing.
You know what I mean? It's like, come on, man, It's
it's listen, Rob Van Dam could do the flippy dippy, peanut
butter skippy, but he made it make sense when he did it, which
is right. Rob is Rob, you know, Jeff
(38:49):
Hardy, same thing, which is why Jeff Hardy is Jeff Hardy.
You know, they they made it makesense when they did it.
They weren't just doing it just to do it.
It it, it actually fit in the sequence of the match.
I don't know what some of this stuff, man.
It's just like, why are you doing a dive in every single
match? Why do you have to do that?
Well, you know, again, these arenot.
(39:10):
I love the kid. I think the kid is great.
Yeah. Counting kids.
You know, but I I agree, you know, the long you know, that
stuff is not going to give you longevity, but you know, it's
like ricochet. You know, ricochet is the same
way does impressive stuff is great, but you know, it's like
how much shelf life does that have?
But I guess he's going to do it until the wheels fall off and
(39:31):
you know, that's what they want to do.
Then you know God bless him. Yeah, but look at his ceiling,
unfortunately, you know what I mean?
Because again, how do you make that guy the top guy in your
company? You don't.
It's as simple as that. You don't, you know, now.
Now, Don Mysterio, when we watched, you know, a week ago
when him and Cena wrestled in that match in Raw Devon, that
(39:54):
was as good of a wrestling matchas I've seen ever.
Right. Because it made sense, you know?
Everything about what they did in that match made sense.
And, and I, I got to say this, Iam so impressed with Dom's
confidence and poise in these big moments.
This kid is not shrinking under pressure at all.
And I don't even know where where he gets the audacity to be
(40:17):
so confident. Like do you see this kid?
Well, I must say this. Look at his father.
I mean, that's where he's learned.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. One of the greatest of all time.
Yeah. His upbringing is his dad, you
know? Yeah.
And that's where that's where ithappens.
So, you know, again, these guys in NXT, they're doing great, you
know? But again, it's like, how much
(40:39):
shelf can you have if you're doing all of that flippy flying
stuff? Yeah, it's Listen, if I if I
ever see Devon Dudley do a suicide dive, I'm turning damn
TV off. I'm done.
I'm done. Listen, don't go to, don't go to
ECW because I did it once or twice.
(40:59):
Oh, listen, we're going to have to have people look that up.
I, I want you listeners out there to look up.
So it's, if it's going to take you a minute now, but I want you
to find and send me the clip of Devon Dudley do and dives at
ECW. Oh my God, That would be, we got
to make a, a, a, a GIF out of that.
You know, we got to make a meme out of that.
Bubba even did a dive at one point.
(41:21):
Oh my God. On to me and I caught him.
Even worse. Yeah, who you telling?
That is incredible. Now wait a second, was that was
that big Bubba or was that slim and trim Bubba?
Was that big Bubba or Skinny Luther?
Big Bubba. That was Big Bubba.
Big Bubba was pushing almost at least maybe a good 400 plus.
(41:46):
Oh my God. And you had to catch him.
Pushed me like a grape. That is incredible.
Yeah, we got to find that. Folks, please go go find that
footage because we need to see that and and bring it back.
That's that's good stuff. That's good stuff, you know.
No, but you know, like I said, Imean that brother, he's very,
(42:07):
very talented, but I just want to be careful.
Yeah, make it make sense, that'sall.
Just make it make sense. Not trying to beat up on him.
He has a bright future. Just make it make sense that
it's as simple as that, I tell you.
What though? He had a hell of a match with
Gunther. He sure did.
And you put them in, you put them in the ring with the in the
ring with guys like that. Here's the deal.
(42:28):
Put them in the ring with guys like that.
And he'll be forced to slow downbecause Gunther, guys like
Gunther is not going to take that every night.
So, and that's how you learn howto work.
You know, that's how you learn Less is better.
That's true. And he looked like he belonged
by the end of that match. You were like, OK, that made
sense. Oh, man, he looked great.
(42:48):
He looked like he definitely belonged.
Yeah, yeah. Oh, absolutely.
That makes. Sense you know.
Put, put it. I'd say put another 1015 lbs on
the boy and and and then you canreally run with him.
Oh yeah, you know, it's a littlebit more.
He'll wind up looking like what you might call it, truth.
(43:11):
Truth every time he put me on the spot.
And I can't remember this guy's name and he he's going to kill
me now and. Where is.
He now. You ain't talking.
You ain't talking about Trick Williams.
No, of course not. Not trick.
Yeah, that's your boy. No, Yeah, you ain't talking
about Trick. No, I wouldn't there dude.
I wouldn't there forget Trick's name.
Yeah. Well, where, where is the person
(43:33):
now that you're thinking of? Where is he now?
He's doing an XT. Oh, OK, Oba.
No, no. Who in NXT?
It was trick. Oh, OK.
I I just drew a blank for some reason.
I'm in trouble. I just drew a blank and I'm
looking at I go, man, you shouldbe ashamed of your damn self.
(43:55):
That's your boy. Trick or cut a promo on your ass
boy, you already thought. Devon, how the hell could you
have that trick? I'm sorry, man, I'm sorry.
Trick me cutting the promo. You know what he reminds me of?
What he cuts the promos. He, he kind of remind me to
rock, OK, You know, he'd be going in.
He'd be going in with the Pro Bowls boy.
Yeah, I can see that. Sure cracks me up.
(44:18):
You know, I, I'm gonna tell you something that doesn't crack me
up. And, and you and I hadn't talked
about this previously. So I'm, I'm kind of throwing
this at you here. This, this, this Jr. thing is
still going. People are still writing about
it. And, and what has been noticed,
Jr. has returned to his podcast and he did not mention at any
(44:42):
time any of the information thatyou revealed about what he said
to you in the past and, and how it made you feel and what have
you. He kind of sidestepped and left
that alone. So, so that's its own thing.
OK, fine. That's your choice, Jr.
If you don't want to acknowledgeit, you don't want to talk about
it. You you open, it goes away,
whatever. OK, fine.
Great. Over on Keeping it 100.
(45:05):
That is Conan's podcast that he does with Joe Feeny and Disco
Inferno. A weird thing happened that I
heard, and I don't know if you've seen this or not, Devon,
but a one of their listeners hadasked, hey guys, what do you
think about Devon's comments about what Jr. said to him?
So Conan said, listen, I don't think Jr. still feels that way
(45:31):
today. And I thought that was kind of
interesting for Conan to say that.
I mean, he has interacted with Jr. most recently, so I guess he
could try to feel comfortable in, in making that statement.
But OK, a little screwy, but I, you know, I'll take it.
But Disco Inferno, his reaction was very strange.
(45:52):
He said, well, how long ago was that?
What are we, what are we going to, we going to bury Jr. for
something he said over 20 years ago.
And then he goes, I'm not going to pile on Jr.
You know, as you get older, you become more conservative.
So I'm not going to pile up on Jr.
So let me just say this. Number one, one of your
listeners asked you, what do youthink about this thing that
(46:15):
happened? Disco No one asked you to bury
anybody. Nobody asked you to pile up on
anybody. So that's number one.
Number two, I didn't know that there was a statue of
limitations on being a damn racist.
When you tell somebody I don't like you because the color of
your skin, I don't care if you said it 20 minutes ago or you
(46:35):
said it 20 years ago, it's stillwrong.
And you're a damn coward. If you can't, if you don't have
the, the, the, the balls to justsay, hey, that's wrong.
That shouldn't have happened. It's unfortunate that that
happened, you know, and hopefully things have changed
and what happened. If you don't have the balls to
(46:56):
say that Disco Inferno, then then you know, I'm starting to
look at you, brother, and I'm starting to believe what I see.
Once again to say, well, I'm notgoing to bear, I'm not going to
pile on Jr. I'm not going to do that.
OK, Well, don't what was 20 years ago and then people get
more conservative as they get older and what's the big deal?
OK, now I'm, I'm starting to believe you, Disco.
(47:17):
I see you, brother. And that's me telling you that I
see you for who you are. OK, When you start talking like
that, that coded language, I understand the code and I'm just
going to leave it at that. Devon, you got anything to say
to that? I I didn't tell you about this
beforehand. Yeah, no.
Well, you know, I know Disco and, you know, never had a
problem. Listen, the bottom line is think
(47:38):
of how all of this transpired months ago.
I said something about this and I never said any names.
People were getting on me because I didn't say any names.
And then when we did my podcast,my, my YouTube channel, Bubba
had to ask me the question and Isaid I didn't experience it in
ECW. No, we were like a family there.
(47:59):
But I did experience it in WWE with top officials.
I said, I don't want to say any names.
And of course, Bubba goes say the name, say the name, say the
name, you know, and you know, and then all I did was, you
know, hey, you know, let me tellyou something.
I'm not wearing a 10 gallon hat and blah, blah, blah, you know,
and Maven goes goes Sooners. So that's how all of that really
(48:20):
came about. It wasn't like I just decided
one day I'm just going to sit upthere and go hold, let me bury
Jr. No, that's not how it worked at
all. And so, you know, again, for
something that had been bothering me for a long time
and, you know, and again, it wasone of those things was every
time I saw the man, you know, I'd feel a certain way and I
didn't want to feel that way anymore, you know.
(48:42):
So when that was said and then, you know, it was said on my
show, I basically was like, gladit was out because, you know,
now I ain't got to, you know, sit here and act a certain way
anymore about it. You know, I'm, I'm just look,
nobody was trying to bury this man or caused him any more grief
than he's already going through, which is why I said a while ago,
(49:04):
I can't do nothing that God hasn't already started to do.
And what I mean by that is, you know, he's not doing well right
now. I'm not saying God is putting
this on him, whatever, but he's already going through hell.
So, you know, for that to have been, you know, that, that, for
that to have come out, you know,it is what it is.
But if it would have came out when he died, then it was like,
(49:26):
OK, well, now you're putting on,you're getting on the man and
he's dead. You know, it's like you can't
win or lose. So whether I say it when he's
alive, well, I say it. But again, people say, why
didn't you say it 20 years ago? Did you not understand what I
said? I was in a position where I
didn't feel like I could say anything, you know, Of course
not. He was your boss.
What were you going to do, give up your whole career?
(49:46):
People just don't understand that, you know, so, you know,
people can say whatever they want.
They're going to say whatever they want.
I I really don't care. You know, nobody's sitting up
here trying to bury their and like I said, like I said with
Hogan, you know, when Hogan cameto me and told me, you know,
Devon, hey, that's not me, I'm sorry and this and that, you
know, I was like, OK, hope you know, you, you're coming to me.
You didn't have to come to me, you know, but you did.
(50:09):
And you're telling me you're sorry and listen, that that's
not you in his neck. So I'm going to, I'm going to
forgive the man, you know, and people say, well, could you
forgive Jr. But yeah, I can forgive Jr. but
I can forgive Hogan. But him saying what he said, I
can forgive Jr. So it's not like I would sit up
here and hold the grudge for therest of my life against them.
(50:29):
But I did not like it or appreciate what the man said and
did back then. And he happened to come out.
So, you know, again, you know, you got to be able to know
whatever is going on in somebody's head at that time.
You know, they got to be thinking something, you know, in
(50:50):
terms of whether they believe what they saying or not.
And I honestly believe that he did believe what he was saying
back then. So again, it's not my place to
sit here. You guys take it for however you
want to take it. You know, I understand he was
the voice of the Attitude Era and he was loved by many.
But like so many of us, we have a dark side to us where we have
(51:11):
something that is the we're not proud of.
Don't know if he's not proud of it because again, he's never
said anything. He's never apologized or
anything like that. So I don't know, you know, I, I
don't know. But what I do know is that, you
know, disco is trying to bury, you know, us or what have you
for us saying this then Disco, you're wrong.
(51:34):
I'm just going to say that. And you know, I've, you know,
I'm not going to try to get in the shouting match or go back
and forth with me and give the dirt sheets, you know, something
to talk about with this. But you know, again, that's my
belief. You're not African American.
You don't know how it feels, whether it was 203050 years from
now, people are still getting apologies from racist people
(51:58):
back in the 50s and 60s today because it still hurts.
You know, people are still getting apologies today from
people. So again, it say what you want,
but I know what I was feeling and I know what I felt all the
years and I know exactly, you know, if they ever want to have
a conversation or a phone call, I would have one.
(52:19):
You know, I would talk, you know, we could talk and this and
that and blah, blah, blah. You know about it.
I'm not, I'm not opposed to it. But again, you said things that
weren't right back then, regardless if it was because you
have power or not, you said it and it was wrong.
So, you know, you can either ownup to it or just don't just let
it fly. Just don't even say anything
(52:40):
about it. Just do what you've been doing.
Go on with your podcast, go on with your life.
I'm not asking you that. I'm not begging anybody to come
to me to apologize for what theysaid to me or have done.
You know you can do and say whatever you want to say.
Well, that's the irony of it. You, you've been a complete
gentleman and, and far more, farmore classy about it than I
(53:02):
would be, quite frankly. But you know, just to put a
button on this, Conan sued WCW and won, by the way, on racism.
He was discriminated against in that company.
He was able to to provide the evidence and it worked out for
him. And I believe him.
He was careful in his in, in, inhow he responded.
(53:22):
So I, you know, I don't have anyheat for Conan on that.
It is what it is. It was a little scurry, but I
think you you passed the sniff test, so to speak, by saying why
I don't think he's that way anymore.
Which, OK, well, you, you know him today.
So maybe he's not what what didn't happen?
No one was able to say, well, it's not true.
Joe Feeney, to his credit, was able to point out, well, you
(53:44):
know, there were witnesses thereand, and at least one of them,
Bubba, he went on record saying, yes, that's exactly what
happened. So they couldn't, they couldn't
try to discredit you there, Devon, because that just like
you said before, that's, that's a white guy pointing it out that
it happened. So, so we could put that right.
But for Disco Inferno to take that stance as if there's a
(54:05):
statue of limitations on racism. This guy was the head of talent
relations and he's a Hall of Fame commentator.
Basically one of the faces of the company and one of the top
executives in the company has the power to decide if you work
there or not. And he robbed you of your
dignity in that, in those moments in front of people, on
(54:25):
top of that, right, For people to turn around and hear a story
like that. And the best that they can come
up with was I'm not going to, I'm not going to bury Jr.
I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to pile on Jr.
You know, I mean, it was, it was20 years ago.
You know, people get more conservative.
So, so conservative means racistto you.
Disco Inferno, because I got some conservative friends and
(54:48):
I'm sure they would disagree with you on that.
Conservative means racist. When people speak folks, and
they reveal who they are, believe them.
I believe you, Disco. I believe you.
Let me let me come off to that real quick and end it on on.
On another note, Tony Khan did abig interview with Ariel
(55:08):
Helwani. Ariel.
My good friend Tony. Your good friend Tony, you know,
Tony went on Ariel's show and and Tony kept boasting about the
fact that he, he's been answering most of the questions.
So, you know, he finally decidedto actually answer questions.
Unfortunately, a lot of what he said was just not truthful.
(55:30):
He claimed that AEW was finally gaining on WWE in the ratings,
which just a complete. Fabrication.
No, no, he didn't go. Public.
He said it with a straight face. No, Duke, I love you to death.
I do. I love you to death.
You're my boy. But you and I, I'm going to have
(55:50):
to call you a liar. He said it, bro, he said it.
He said it. It was it was one of the biggest
lies I have ever heard in my life because it's so not true.
It's so easy to point out how not true it is.
It's it was fascinating. And he didn't stop there.
(56:11):
And I'm going to end it on this one here because this is this is
interesting. He Ariel asked Tony about
Andrade. You know what happened with
that? You guys advertised them.
You had him come out on one showand then we haven't seen him
anymore and so. Isn't that what we?
Isn't that? Go ahead, go ahead.
I'm sorry. Well, Tony responded and said,
well, you know, we, I think the world of Andrade and, and when
(56:33):
he is available, he, he, he'll, he's, and I'm paraphrasing now,
when he's available, he will have a, a, a open door here in
AEW. That was, I'm paraphrasing on
that one. You know that well.
So here we go. AEW did not do their due
(56:53):
diligence or they did and just didn't care.
But Andrade was still under contract with WWE because he had
a non non complete non compete clause.
They didn't do their due diligence or they did and just
ignored it. And they violated Andrade's deal
with WWE by featuring him on TV and signing him to a deal which
(57:17):
is basically null and void. It's not a legal deal that you
signed. That what happened.
That's what happened now. Now here's something interesting
because people don't know the history.
This is not the first time AEW has done this.
Yes, Brian Kendrick and I had the exclusive interview with
(57:37):
Brian Kendrick when he when he told some of this story, it got
it got picked up by TMZ and everything because Brian
Kendrick came on Duke Loves Wrestling back in 2022, May of
2022 and he apologized for some anti-Semitic comments that he
had made in the past. And yeah, it was, it was a deep
thing. It was a deep thing.
(57:58):
But you know, to Brian's credit,he owned it and I I held him
accountable and and folks responded positively to it.
At least the guy, you know, he came out and and apologized
completely and what have you. So I I think it turned out to be
a positive thing for him. But Brian Kendrick let the WWE
know he no longer wanted to be atrainer and work for them.
(58:21):
So he he basically said, yeah, I'm done.
And he quit essentially over thephone.
And then he went to AEW and and told them, yeah, I quit over
there. So I'm here now, you know, if
you guys want me, I'm here. So they immediately signed him
to a deal and they started advertising him as going to be
on the next episode. I believe it was Dynamite.
Well, before he was even able toappear, WWE sends a cease and
(58:45):
desist and basically shut that down.
And that's when AEW found out that Brian Kendrick was not
legally out of his WWE deal and.In fact, he was a train.
He oh, he was told even though he was still under a deal, he
was just training people. He was mostly training people.
They, they weren't using them asmuch as a wrestler in WWE at
(59:05):
that point. He was mostly training people at
that point cause 'cause you know, Kendrick is a, he's a,
he's a solid trainer. You know, you learn from Rudy
Boy Gonzalez at the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy at
the time. It's now the Texas Wrestling
Academy. So, you know, he's he's a good
trainer. So he was mostly training people
left the company, tried to get more money in ATW and then found
(59:26):
out that you can't just get up and leave like that.
You got a contract here. So there's a little bit more to
it. But essentially, Kendrick was
put in limbo. He was still signed to WWE,
still under their terms, but yethe just signed a new deal with
ATW. From a legal standpoint, AEW
could not pay him because of hislimbo stat.
(59:49):
Oh wow. And I believe WWE was still
paying him, but he didn't want to cash those checks because if
he cashed those checks, that's like acknowledging that you
still are an employee of theirs. So this guy, for a period of
time, he had nothing coming in. He was basically in limbo.
It was a bad situation that finally got worked out in the
(01:00:10):
end. AW, you know they had to admit
fault because they're completelywrong.
They didn't do their homework. So Fast forward now to this
Andrade situation, and they're making the same exact mistake.
This is sloppy, you know what I mean?
Either you're ignoring the rulesor whoever is in charge of
making sure that people are available, they're just not
(01:00:31):
doing their job correctly. What did I say last week?
You need to have people around him that's going to lead him in
the right direction. He's got to.
Tony, you can bet you can hate me all you want.
I'm not hating you. I'm just telling you that you
just need to have the right people around you to let you
know that if you're mad, don't. Can't do that.
(01:00:52):
Because if you do, this could happen.
You know you're getting all butthurt because we're on here
trying to help you and yet you think we're burying you.
We're not. Nobody's burying you, you know,
that's the one thing he doesn't he doesn't get, you know, if
you're not singing his praises. We got to be burying him when
nobody's burying you and nobody's hating on AEW here.
(01:01:13):
We always say, every time we saywhat we going to say, What do I
always say? I I love AWI think the talent is
great there, you know, but Tony needs help.
Tony needs help. And if you sit there and take
that as me burying you and you're an idiot, I'm sorry, you
are because I'm not burying you and everyone, especially when I
sit there and take a listen. I don't know you from Adam
(01:01:34):
except for the meetings that we've had.
And you know, I'm always hearingreports that you got a warm
heart and this and that, but youneed help.
And again, this is coming from your own people inside.
This is not just me saying that you need help.
So why not get the help? Why not listen to people and get
the help that you need? That's the only way that you're
going to prosper and you don't run into foolish mistakes like
(01:01:57):
this. Listen, anybody, the WWE, you
and I both know, especially whenI don't know how they do
business over there now in termsof stuff like this, but you
know, there's no way that they would let something like that
happen. Well, Bench will probably get
rid of whoever made the mistake.Simple as that.
They're gone, Gone. You're, you're costing US money.
You're gone because we got to gointo court.
(01:02:20):
We got to pay the lawyers to figure this out.
Like, bro, you're costing US money.
You got, you're out, you're done, you know.
And I don't. I don't get that at all.
I did not know that and I I justdon't get it.
Once is a mistake. Twice.
You're either sloppy or you justare disregarding the law.
Either way, something ain't right over there.
(01:02:42):
Something ain't right, you know, and, and I'm sorry, Tony, the
fact that you're the spokesman for the company as well is a
mistake. It's a big mistake.
You, you just you look like a complete goofball sitting there
with Ariel, especially lying through your teeth.
You got to protect yourself Better than that, brother.
Get somebody else to lie for you.
(01:03:03):
You know, if you're going to be a liar, let them.
Let them do it. So at least you have some
plausible deniability. You just looked foolish out
there. But I digress.
You know a lot of talented people in that company.
Like you said, though. Oh.
My God, it's overwhelming how good the talent is over there.
I mean, you know, if you want totalk about that, that's what WWE
(01:03:25):
needs to, you know, step up the game.
I mean, they are, don't get me wrong, but they can't lose focus
because AW is on the heels of them in terms of having the
talent that they have because they have so much good time.
It's almost like they don't knowwhat to do with them.
That's it. That's exactly it, you know.
Why Bobby Lashley is not their world champion is beyond me.
(01:03:47):
Why Mercedes Monet, the the woman formerly known as the
Sasha Banks, is not their world champion is beyond me.
You know those are easy moves that you can plug in and you'll
set the world on fire doing it. Listen, I know how this would
all work out. Bring Jim Cornett in there as as
your Pat Patterson. Listen.
He'll sit there. He'll corny company straight.
(01:04:09):
You, you, you think Tony Khan isgoing to be able to handle corny
with, with, with with the way that he so eloquently will dress
him down and let him know he's ahe's a.
Damn. No, Because you know, you know
Cornett would. I love Cornett daily because
that's the only man in the professional wrestling business
that will not lie to you, that will tell you the truth and will
(01:04:30):
make sure that whatever you're doing in there is going to make
sense. That's just Cornett.
That's how he is. Yeah.
I've dealt with Cornett and TNA,you know, I dealt with him a
little bit in WWE. Now, again, these are names that
you should be having in your corner helping you out in the
business. Look, the N.W.A before they turn
(01:04:52):
to WCW had people that were names helping them out, you
know, plus they had talent like Flair, Dusty that were able to
call their own sharks in the sense, you know, But at the same
token, what do we have there? Who do we have there that can do
that for them? And that's what it is, Tony.
It's not nobody's burying you, man.
(01:05:12):
Damn, nobody's burying you. We want to see the company.
We want to see the company go forward.
We want to see the company make it and succeed.
What you're saying, mistakes like that you cannot make.
You just can't. I, I don't I don't understand
that at all. I didn't know this.
I didn't know this, but words ofmy attention, but I didn't know
(01:05:34):
this. But then I didn't know this.
Well, and, and it, it just, you know, me with my political
brain, it, it makes me wonder how much of this is an inside
job. Are the people that you have in
these key positions, are they purposely trying to harm you and
your company, Tony, by doing things like this?
That, that was, that's a big mistake.
When you sign, advertise and feature a talent on television
(01:05:59):
who you legally are not supposedto do that with, that's a big
mistake. Bro.
Did they do it to you on purpose?
I don't know. I.
Don't know whoever's in charge of that, whoever's supposed to
do leg work on that. Are they setting you up, Tony,
to make you look bad? You know, I'll just leave it
there. We're gonna have to start
(01:06:20):
charging Tony Kahn for consulting, you know, 'cause
we're, we're kind of giving him the keys here.
Yeah, but if you ain't taking it, then I don't know how to
tell. You yeah, that's that's a good
point. That's a good point anyway.
And believe. Me.
It's not. It's not just us.
No, we're not the only ones trying to tell him so.
No, and there are people in thatcompany who try to talk some
(01:06:41):
sense into him. But you know, unfortunately I, I
think that Tony likes his ego stroke.
He likes people that are into his his mania.
So yeah, Tony, make me a drink and, and give me a hug and let's
talk about how great everything is and all that nonsense.
I don't, I don't think Tony responds well to being told,
(01:07:01):
hey, this is not working. We need to do something better
than this. And you know, that's a flaw.
That's a flaw in his leadership and, and that's why they are
where they are. You know, leave it at that.
What's the best way everyone cankeep up with you Devon 'cause
you got a whole lot going on from the YouTube to the
wrestling school, the whole 9 yards there bro.
(01:07:22):
Oh man, where do I begin? Well, I got my YouTube channel,
of course I mentioned, I mentioned all the time Devon W
YouTube channel. And of course testified Devon on
Twitter and of course testified Devon on Instagram.
And I'm also making an appearance this week coming up.
(01:07:46):
Hold on, let me find it. I'll be at the Illinois Comic
Con November 22nd through the 23rd signing autographs and
getting to see the great people of Illinois.
So come on out and show your love and support and let's have
a good time and testify. I love that, I love that.
Definitely show your support. The Hall of Famer himself, Devon
(01:08:08):
Dudley, making himself availableall throughout the nation.
Hey, you know what I might try to do?
What's that? I think?
I think I'm going to try to get in touch with Linda Blair's
agents and see if she can come and join me.
Oh wow. OK.
Look at that. Look at that.
You're. You're going to.
Is this your way of trying to overcome your fears?
There you. Listen, I'm trying every way
(01:08:30):
possible. OK?
Let me let me put you this way. I was looking at something on
my, my Internet went out and I had to reboot everything.
And I'm not, I'm not tech savvy at all.
And I'm sitting up there trying to figure it out, trying to
figure it out, can't figure it out.
So there was a thing that said all list of categories and you
go down you got movie thrills. Then it said horror.
(01:08:51):
I said, oh, let me see what theygot for horror.
When was the first thing that popped up?
Exorcist, My body heat up. I said Nope, turn that TV off.
Body heat it up. Body heat.
I was like Nope. I was like damn, I just met this
woman. I'm still scared of this damn
movie. The hell is wrong with me?
Incredible. I got issues man.
Yeah, yeah. Listen, I I noticed you didn't
(01:09:12):
tell the story about falling asleep on the couch.
Oh, man, yeah, I got to tell that story, I guess, since you
brought it up, Duke. So, you know, after the match
for Bound for Glory, I was having problems sleeping.
I was having some type of insomnia.
Like I couldn't, I couldn't go to sleep.
And it was going on for weeks. And I would leave my bedroom, go
(01:09:33):
sit on the go, lay on the couch and sit up in the couch, I
should say, and watch TV, try towatch TV until I fall asleep
'cause that's always a a good thing for people when they sit
on the couch and fall asleep. So I'm sitting up there and I
fell asleep. All of a sudden, I don't know
how much time went by, but I hear Mommy no, make it stop,
(01:09:54):
Mommy no make it stop. And it wakes me up and I go,
what the hell? And I look up and the TV is kind
of like it has something on there.
So whatever's playing at the time is not being shown.
But then I heard Reagan. Reagan, are you OK?
I was like, Oh my God, it's the Exorcist.
I jumped up, turned that damn TVoff, ran right in my bedroom and
(01:10:15):
closed the door. I not, no, I don't know what was
coming down my steps in my house, but I was, I was out
because it was the scene where she was on the bed and the bed
was shaking and the mother triedto stop her from shaking.
She didn't understand what was going on.
And that was the scene that was on.
And I was like, oh man, I was like, I'm going to bed.
(01:10:35):
I'm not doing this. I'm not sitting out here.
I'll never do it again. And since then I haven't come
out here yet and don't. Let me tell you something,
Linda. Linda Blair is the real world
champion. OK, so.
Hey, hey, she's knocked out a lot of people, let me tell you.
You know, she's the real world champion.
I'm telling you folks. As always, Duke loves wrestling.
(01:10:56):
On on Facebook on xdukeloveswrestling@gmail.com.
Let me know what you think of the show questions, all that
good stuff. I appreciate Danny G who sent in
that Batista suggestion. He he's one of many who've been
asking for us to do a deeper dive on Batista.
So we'll we'll do that. That'll be coming up in the
future there. I definitely want to thank
(01:11:18):
everybody who who's been listening, sharing the show.
We continue to grow, you know, in, in terms of the news cycle,
every episode is, is some of themost talked about stuff going on
that week, which is fantastic. Last episode they were like at
least nine separate articles from that one episode.
(01:11:39):
And that is a very difficult thing to accomplish.
So we don't take that for granted, folks.
Clearly you love what you hear and you want us to keep going.
So that's what we're going to do.
But it's you, the fans who are driving this demand and, you
know, just keep it up. Please keep on sharing, keep on
talking about us, keep on showing up at the at the comic
cons and what have you and, and getting your autographs and
(01:12:02):
pictures with Devon. That's what it's all about.
If you are a listener of the show and you're at these comic
cons, let me know. Show me the love.
Let me know that you love the show and you love listening to
it. And you know, let's let's just
get it out there. Yes, exactly.
Let's build this community as strong as we can, because I'll
tell you, man, again, nine articles from one podcast
(01:12:23):
episode. That's insane.
You know, that's, that's basically an article, you know,
every, every what, 10 minutes orso, Like I just, it's crazy.
So that's brother. There's something about Devon
Dudley telling these stories that people can't get enough of.
I love it. It is fantastic.
So with all that said, hit us with that Word of the Week,
(01:12:44):
