Wrestling tails knock you off your seat, TuneIn.
Now don't you be late. Wrestling Punk has never felt
this great. Tails, ladders, chairs, they
tell it all. From the highest highs to the
lowest fall. Great lower tails from the ring.
(00:27):
Every chain, every cheer they'llbring.
Wrestling tails knock you off your seat, TuneIn Now don't you
be late. Wrestling podcast never felt
this crazy. Brothers and sisters, welcome
(00:49):
back. Welcome back to another exciting
edition of the Devon of the DukePodcast.
This is a limited edition serieshosted by your main man.
Duke loves wrestling. And of course, the Hall of
Famer, the man that is witheringaway with all his weight that
he's dropped, I cannot believe he's dropped even more weight
(01:10):
because he's doing 3A days. He, he's, he's drinking, you
know, fancy healthy smoothies. He's eating kale, doing all that
stuff. Brother Depot Dudley, What's
going on, man? What's happening man?
How you doing? I I'm fit.
Listen, I'm I'm trying to be like you, man.
We before we even get any further, I want you to tell the
(01:31):
world the the today's Devon Dudley Smoothie because I heard
you order this thing and I'm trying to wrap my head around it
'cause you don't put damn near everything and anything in that
joint. So.
So let's go with this, if you can.
Remember, what did you just order when you just ordered a
smoothie? Well, with a large 44 oz
gladiator chocolate banana. And inside that was, I'm gonna
(01:57):
say I remember multivitamin, Super games, gut health, energy
booster, energy booster, joint relief, Super games.
(02:20):
It's, you know, Super games. And then what else?
It was like 3 or 4 modern thingsI forgot.
But it's basically oh, BC BCA got it.
God, it was. So it was two other things too,
but it was a, it was like a drugstore.
(02:41):
And that's Smoothie. Listen, Smoothie King, I'm
telling you right now, Devon Dudley's open for business.
All right? This, this man, this man loves
your product so much that he knows exactly what to put in
there. And how did it taste?
You put all that stuff in there.Does it taste good?
It's an acquired taste because you have all the supplements
inside of there and so to some people who aren't used to it is
(03:05):
going to think it's disgusting your taste buds are not used to
it. But I've been doing it for so
long that to me it just tastes like drinking peanut butter
smoothie. Got it, got it.
Which, you know, energy drinks, for example, they taste the way
they taste on purpose, right? Just like medicine.
The reason why medicine tastes the way that it tastes is so,
(03:28):
you know, you're taking medicine.
That's the whole point. If it tastes too good, it's hard
to believe it from a psychological standpoint that it
actually is going to give you the health benefits that it's
supposed to give you you. Know.
So the same, same way that you, you just said there, it's an
acquired taste because you know, you're, you're, you're getting
your vitamins. So that's cool and you know.
(03:50):
With everything that's going on,you know, again, I just, you
know, it's been a little bit since I've, you know, praying
like this. So it's one of those things
where I don't miss it. Don't miss it at all.
Good God, I don't miss it. But you know, I know what I have
to do to be in the shape that I have to be in to do this.
(04:12):
Now, do I, do I miss this? No, I don't miss it at all, the
train like this. But again, remember I was
younger and because I was doing it frequently, I didn't have to
go as hard as I'm going now, youknow?
But when you're older, you kind of got to go harder than you
normally would just to maintain and to keep up.
(04:34):
You know, the body still, the body feels great.
You know, it was a little bit ofa shock training like this in
terms of like the muscles were aching a little bit more than
normal. Longer recovery.
All that means is more massages, more whirlpools and, and more
(04:54):
sleep. You know, remember when you were
younger, you were able to get 3 hours of I was able to get 3
hours of sleep, jump right up getting that ring and do it
again. You know, now I need the 8 hours
of sleep, I need the constant massages and I need the therapy.
One of the gyms I go to is EOS Fitness and to me it's like the
(05:18):
the Bible of gyms, especially here in Florida where I'm, it
beats LA Fitness, it beats crunch.
I mean, they have a thing they call the tank with the
compression things you put on your legs and they have a ice
bath. Well, you can do the ice bath
and then the Whirlpool. And then they got the Creole
(05:41):
bed, which I call the ice bed. And you know, it's like if I
don't have time to get into the ice bath and I go on the Creole
bed and it's just the same thing.
It's like taking a bunch of ice and just laying on it and it
numbs your body like you wouldn't believe.
It gets rid of all that inflammation.
I mean, it's really is great. And then the supplements I take
(06:02):
on top of that, you know, I'm doing everything to take, you
know, to get rid of the, the swelling or you know, the
bloateness, everything. I'm just doing everything the
way I should do it. I love it.
I love it. And it's, it's interesting
because you, you told me about, I asked you about stretching and
you told me something that blew my mind.
(06:24):
So you're you're a pretty serious stretcher, huh?
Yes, I did that. As long as I can remember.
Even in ECW, even when I played football, I did it.
I did it when I played football and I remember taking it from
football to the wrestling room and in the process of doing that
(06:49):
I started doing it just about before every match.
RVD, you know, was stretching. He was stretching in a room one
day and I needed some place where the stretch as well.
I like Rob, you mind if I had somebody doing it?
He goes, no Devon, go right ahead and I started stretching.
He goes he's like that's impressive.
A guy your side being good, it'simpressive.
Then he started showing me technique and things like that
(07:11):
to add to it. But I have been doing it ever
since RVD went public and said that besides him, I'm pretty
much the only one he sees stretching and doing things like
that on a consistent basis. Because you have to, you know,
I've always set aside 1520 minutes before I went down that
to that ring and I stretched. Sometimes I would get to the
(07:34):
building and just getting out like an hour before I'm supposed
to be there, put my bags down, go through the ring and just
stay in the ring and stretch. That is fascinating to me.
Now you said you you can you canput your leg behind your head.
Yeah, put my leg behind my head and everything.
(07:56):
You know, again, 30 something years of stretching when you're
constantly doing it, doing it, doing it and doing the
techniques and then with the DDPYoga on top of that, that's just
going to add to that flexibility.
Good point. Good point.
Wow, that's great. Listen, I'm telling you right
now, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, youare in for the ass whooping of a
(08:19):
lifetime. You got Devon with his with his
leg behind his head. He he dropping all this weight.
He he drinking super smoothies from Smoothie King with all the
minerals and vitamins and all that stuff.
Your your ass is grass fellas, you better watch out now.
See see, I keep working you intoit man.
You see, you notice this now. Yeah, you you're no different
(08:43):
than Bubba, man. Y'all, y'all killing me.
I feel like Al Pacino every timeI get out, they just keep
bringing me back. They.
Pull you right back in. That's right.
That's right. Pull.
Me right back in. I love it.
I love it folks. You, you definitely want to make
sure no matter what you have going on, on your schedule, you
(09:07):
want to make sure that you don'tmiss it for the final time.
The Dudley boys versus the HardyBoys.
Why would you want to miss that? You know what I mean?
So that is going to be at the big event for TNA and that's
coming up just in a couple weeks, right?
(09:28):
Well, five weeks to be exact. Five weeks, 5 weeks.
So we're turning the corner there.
Bound for Glory. TNA presents Bound for glory.
That's October 12th at the Song Center in Lowell, MA, so you
definitely do not want to miss this, folks.
It is going to be historic. All right, It's a big night.
(09:50):
Devon is getting himself in the best shape that he's ever been
in. Very serious about this, Bubba.
I don't hear about you putting your leg behind your head and,
and, and getting all the vitamins and minerals.
Don't embarrass us now, man. Devon showing up ready to go.
You better be too. Listen, I don't think Bubba ever
put his leg behind his head. I think it's safe to say that.
(10:14):
So, so wait a second, when, when, when you were doing those
stretches, especially in the WWE, how did the other boys
react to that? I I know you got a good one on
that. Man, I know I should never told
you that story. So I was down at this is this is
when Kane was at his biggest in his prime.
(10:36):
He was in full cane get up everything and they're wet.
Everything. He came into the locker room for
something and I'm down there stretching and I'm in probably
one of the most compromised positions that you could be in
where you just can't get out of it that quick.
Cane comes in, he sees me on theground.
He takes his head and he tilts it like Michael Myers and Jason.
(10:58):
Down he goes. Damn, Yvonne.
That's that's kind of impressive.
I said, Glenn, I said, please stop right now.
I said, you too goddamn big to be looking at me like that.
I said I'm in a I'm in a type ofposition where if I tried to
run, I couldn't move fast enoughto get out of this position.
Please stop. I feel like I'm back in prison
(11:19):
right now. He started laughing.
He started laughing. He goes, I'm just saying, Devon,
you know what you're doing rightnow?
That's you're very flexible. I said, Glenn, please stop.
I said you are too damn big to try to fight off and I'm telling
you right now I'm going to lose,so please stop you.
You remember that. You remember that HBO show
(11:41):
Ounces? Yeah.
Yeah, y'all, y'all were. Y'all acted out that you know.
It was, it was a very, very compuncompromised position that I
wanted to be in. Or scenario I should say.
Well, shout out to to the mayor himself, the mayor of Knox
(12:01):
County, Glenn Jacobs, AKA Kane. Yeah, yeah.
Good dude, good dude. So it's it's it's crazy, man.
You're, you're getting up for getting ready for your match
against the Hardys. We know it's going to be
historic Dudley Boys versus the Hardys one more time.
We just got another big surprisereturn to the wrestling world
(12:24):
and WWEAJ Lee. So here's a woman that is
credited for really lighting thefire underneath the WW ES.
You know what, in terms of featuring more women's matches,
giving women the opportunity to actually main events on a
(12:45):
regular basis and and what have you here.
I mean, she was very, very vocal, especially her last two
years in that company. And she ended up leaving, but
ironically, when she left, that's when everything changed.
That's when you saw the Four Horsewomen and all these other
things happening. What have you?
That and, and we're still benefiting from that today.
(13:07):
So she returns to the company that essentially is what she was
advocating for. So what are your thoughts on
that, man? What are your thoughts on AJ Lee
returning back to the WWE? And, and she's going to be
wrestling. Well, you know, I don't know.
I don't really know too much about agent and I say that
(13:27):
because we were we had left whenshe came in And so and I was
very bitter with WWE for a little bit during that 2005 when
we left because I never really wanted to leave and I refused to
watch the product. So a lot of the stars like AJ,
(13:51):
even Ziggler, you know, all those guys that came in after,
you know, Bubba and myself left,I really didn't know too much
about because I was very bitter at the company because again, we
were going, we were talking contracts.
We couldn't come to agreement. And I thought we could have, but
(14:12):
it didn't happen. And so with that being said, it
was kind of like, OK, I blame the company.
I blamed one guy for many years and then come to find out that
it wasn't him. John Laurenitis.
I, you know, I thought that he was the one that put the monkey
wrench in the sabotaging of me and Bubba Lee signing and it
(14:36):
wasn't. I came to find out years later
that it wasn't and that it was actually Vince didn't feel like
it was time to do business anymore.
And it was confirmed to me by somebody that that was the case
and that it was best to let the Dudley's go and maybe we could
do business somewhere down the line.
(14:58):
And that's exactly what happened.
We went away for TNA for a while.
So in going, you know, I just never wanted to watch the
product. I was very anti WWE at the time
and I wanted nothing to do with the company.
And so a lot of stars, like a daily Ziggler, a lot of the guys
(15:21):
that came in during our departure, I didn't know too
much about. But I will say, very excited
leading up to the build up of her return and how WWE did it.
The whole thing with Becky and and Seth and Punk, the story
that they told, man, that's storytelling that's making you
want to invest in the story thatyou're watching on TV.
(15:44):
And it had me hook line and sink.
And I was excited to see AJ comeback and to finally get our
hands on Becky, slap around a little bit and say it was almost
like, girl, I'm back or B, I'm back.
You know, you're not going to put your hand on my husband no
more. And so with that being said, it
was one of those things where not only did I enjoy watching
(16:08):
it, but the WWE Universe did. The fans did.
It got a crazy amount of views on YouTube within the first six
hours. I think it was already in the
millions because people were excited.
WWE did it the right way. They actually told a great story
building up to her return and itworked.
(16:30):
Absolutely. It, it worked.
I mean, goodness gracious, you know, they, they got what,
nearly 100 million social media views in less than 24 hours,
which that's crazy to me. You know, that's crazy.
One video can do that, right? So that, that just lets you
(16:50):
know, man, they, they're going to be raking in the dough and
she signed a multi year contract.
So she's going to be wrestling, She's going to be involved with
the company. It's it's interesting for me as
a person who's watched CM Punk'sentire career, going all the way
back to the beginning to see himback in WWE today.
(17:14):
His wife is back. He's getting to do whatever he
wants. He gets to wrestle the way he
wants to wrestle, even the way that he talks and interviews and
stuff like that. Maturity is all I can say this,
this man has matured tremendously.
He's happy. He has every reason to be happy.
And I just think that, you know, from a personal standpoint, what
(17:36):
a beautiful thing to be able to have your wife come back and
enjoy the fruits of both of yourlabor in the place that you
truly wanted to be. There are reasons why you
couldn't be there anymore. You had your button of the heads
with management, stuff like that, issues with Vince,
whatever. All that stuff is done now and
you get to just come back and enjoy the fruits.
And the younger people in the back, you know, like Roxanne,
(18:00):
for example, who's a huge AJ Leefan, She's a huge CM Punk fan.
Those those folks are her inspiration to be able to to be
a mentor to people like that in the locker room.
I mean, does it get any better than that bro?
No, I mean, especially when you're a big fan.
It was like me, you know, growing up watching Hogan all of
(18:21):
those years. And then all of a sudden at the
Staples Center, you know, my bagis already in the locker.
And then I leave the locker room, come back here.
There's Hogan standing there next to my locker because his
locker, he put his bag right next to mine.
Listen, you couldn't pay me to convince you that that would
have happened 20 years later after being such a huge fit.
(18:44):
It's something that you can't form for words, how it makes you
feel. Someone that you looked up to
for all of those years, you know, and now you're not only
sharing a locker room, but you're doing business with them
and your locker is right next totheirs.
You know, and dream, dreams do come true.
You know, that's, that's all I could say about that.
(19:05):
Dreams do come true. You know, here's an interesting
thing, because folks forget that.
And, and even you I I would say that Devon, you're, you're for a
guy who is a famous television star.
You are always surprised when wetalk about the degree of fame
(19:28):
that you actually have because you, you know, you're, you're
living it. And it's like, yeah, yeah.
But it's like, no, bro, you're, you're a big star like this.
Like this isn't a joke. You're a big damn star.
Something interesting happened the rapper pop icon,
legitimately a person that has like all the records.
(19:49):
I think he he's tied with Michael Jackson for the most
number one hit records. Drake.
He is doing his promotional tourfor his upcoming album that's
dropping in a couple weeks. Iceman and he did an interview
with Bobby Altoff, a young lady who he helped make famous couple
years ago. She has a new podcast called Not
(20:12):
this again. And during the interview, he, he
brought up the fact that on his phone he there's a bunch of
pictures and what have you of Ria Ripley and she goes, well,
who's that? And he was like, oh, you know,
she's a wrestler and she's basically my muse.
You know, she she's everything. He even though I'm probably the
(20:33):
opposite of what she would be into.
I just, you know, she's my muse.Like he he's really a big fan
and, and very much attracted to her and what have you.
And I just found that so interesting because this is
Drake. This is legitimately one of the
biggest stars in the world, hands down.
And at least in the music industry, he's he's going to end
up being one of the most successful ever.
(20:56):
How do you beat Michael Jackson? You know, so when you hear
something like that from that standpoint, somebody on that
level acknowledging Ria Ripley, who's still, she's not even the
middle of her career yet, she's still pretty young.
She's still got many years aheadof her.
How old is she? She's not even 30 years old.
(21:17):
I think she's only like 27 yearsold man.
Wow, and she's already done whatshe's done.
She's already done what she's already a Hall of Famer.
If she retired today, she's 28 years old.
She's going to, she's going to turn 29 in October.
So in a couple weeks you can turn 29.
But I bring that up because Danielle official, AKA Topanga,
(21:40):
when she went viral last year saying that she would love to be
put through a table by the Dudley boys.
You know, she's a big star, She's an icon.
She's somebody who's part of so many people's childhoods,
including mine. For her to single out the Dudley
Boys and say that that was like,oh, wow, that's pretty cool.
From from a general standpoint, what do you think about these
(22:02):
big time stars calling you guys out and then you realizing, oh,
wait a second, I'm a fan of theirs, but they're actually a
fan of mine. How does that feel?
Well, it feels great. I mean, I think the first time I
experienced that was at a club right around the corner in Times
Square from where the WWE restaurant used to be.
(22:24):
It was actually the club that Diddy and Jennifer Lopez got in
trouble. When Diddy got in trouble, there
was a club, I can't remember thename, and I'm trying to figure
out what happened. It was something about a fight
broke out, a shooting broke out.And I think that was where Diddy
apparently, supposedly, allegedly gave a gun to Jennifer
(22:48):
until they hide it or hold it until they got out of there or
something like that. It was, it was World War.
It was the story was world renowned, not world renowned,
but it was known in New York about this particular club
because that was where Diddy almost got really in trouble him
and Jennifer Lopez. I know it resurfaced up and then
(23:10):
when Diddy got in all this trouble before.
But my point to this is WWE did a fundraiser at this club a few
years later and I happened to bea part of it.
The NFL Super Bowl champion, NewYork Giants, 86, New York
(23:35):
Giants. Paul Banks was there.
Kiki was there, but he wasn't part of the 86 championship, but
he was there. Paul was not there.
And I was a fan of Paul Banks. I'm a Jet fan, but I knew who
Paul Banks was, especially beingthe New York Giants and being
living in New York. So you knew who the Giants were
(23:57):
regardless of if you were a Giant fan or not a Jets fan or
not. But I went in there and I just
remember, you know, going up to Carl Banks say, hey, man, I'm
like, it is such an honor and a pleasure to meet you.
Because remember I played football before I got into
wrestling. I pulled it to take a Carl ship
to play and I turned it up to play, to play, to do wrestling.
(24:18):
And so I met Carl Banks and I was just like, and or when I saw
them, God, I couldn't believe I was seeing him.
And he goes, Bevan, how the hellare you?
He's like, I'm a big fan of yours and this and that.
And when he said that, I had to step back.
I'm like, what? Because me and Bubba had only
been in the WWEI think that thistime maybe a year.
(24:40):
And you know, this is how big the attitude ever was.
Just from the time me and Bubba Gotti in 1999 to 2000, it was
huge. And you know, we were like rock
stars. But to have somebody from the
New York Giants, you know, the world champion 86 New York
(25:03):
Giants, come to me and tell me he's a big fan of mine, it blew
my mind. That, that is incredible.
That is when you think about somebody like Ria Ripley,
because you know, you're you're a Hall of Fame pro wrestler,
five time Hall of Fame pro wrestler, but you're also a
(25:26):
trainer and a coach. You're somebody who has guided
the careers of some of the biggest stars out there today.
When you look at Aria Ripley, why is she such a big deal, man?
Like what is it about her that has crossed over to the point
where she is a mega star at thispoint, right?
(25:48):
Well, yeah. And I think a lot of things to
do with her talent. She's extremely good at what she
does. She knows how to captivate an
audience. She's a very beautiful young
lady. I think the gothic look, she
would, well, she would get better than anybody that's ever
tried to do that look and pro wrestling.
(26:10):
I mean, you know, the men love her.
You know, they, you know, I would say 90% of the men want to
marry her. But sorry guys, Buddy got that
role. Buddy got that.
So he beat you to it. But you know, she's a very
beautiful young lady and you know, again, that always is a
plus plus when you know what you're doing in that ring and
(26:35):
you're helping to get yourself over.
I think that's what makes her. Yeah, I, I mean, it's, it's
funny that you say that too, because, and I'm going to say a
name that let let's, let's see if you remember your wrestling
history here that I'm, I'm goingto say a name that should spark
some memories here. Mad Maxine.
(26:57):
Oh, absolutely, absolutely. You know, I, I, I, I don't know
because I never met her, saw herin person.
I only saw her in magazines, butshe looked like, I mean she
looked like she's about 65. She is 646 feet.
No, no, she. Was she was that tall?
(27:18):
She was really that tall. 64 Youyou you pretty much nailed it
6/4. Oh, wow, I didn't know that.
So yeah, you know, I know who you're talking about.
Yeah. And I only saw her in the
magazine and things like that. But I was very impressed with
her love. I think we are still what best,
but there was something about Maxine that you just knew that
(27:38):
she was a star and the way she projected herself in that ring,
she was really good. And again, the look really
helped. I think the look got her over as
well. Nobody had ever really done that
before back then. And she was the first one.
And here's the deal. When when I think of her, I also
think of Luna because the way her makeup was with the shaved
head, it was kind of, I think Luna probably got a little bit
(28:01):
of that from her. Yeah, of course, because Maxine
had the Mohawk and all that stuff.
But the makeup, you're absolutely right.
You're absolutely right that it's, it's interesting though,
because the evolution of that look, now you have a Ria Ripley.
Ria Ripley doesn't have to do much.
All she has to do is walk out and give the crowd a, a glance
(28:25):
and they go nuts. That's it.
You know, she just does a littlelittle prance out there, takes
her time, looks at the crowd. Maybe she does her thing when
she stomps on the floor and thenthe pyro goes off.
They lose their mind and and I'msitting here saying to myself,
you got these kids doing flippy dippy, peanut butter skippy out
(28:45):
there and some random indie breaking their necks trying to
get a pop and all this lady has to do is glance at the crowd and
that's enough. They go, they just they they
faint, they go nuts. Less is more, folks.
Come on, less is more, you know, but but definitely shout out to
(29:06):
Ria Ripley, shout out to Mad Maxscene.
I mean, I, I'm sure I'm going tohave to send this to her because
I'm, I'm sure she'll get a kick out of still being mentioned on
wrestling podcast and what have you.
But yeah, man, when, when I see Ria, I think of Mad Max scene
all the time, all the time. And it's, it's cool.
It's it's really, really cool. You know, and this Maxine, when
(29:28):
you hear this thing of you, justso you know, I was a huge fan of
yours growing up. He loved your look.
He loved everything about you inthat ring.
Again, I never saw you live in person, but I saw you in videos
and of course, Pro Wrestling Illustrator, she was always in
the magazine. Yeah, how could she not be with
that Look, you know, she, she, she was in the WWF for for about
(29:51):
a year because Moolah was managing.
Her right, I remember that. She was in the WWFII think she
ended her career with with the the UWF.
But yeah, man, she she bounced around a little bit and and look
her up folks, Mad Maxine, look her up.
I'm telling you right now. And then think about Ria Ripley
(30:14):
as you're looking at Mad Maxine. It's it's the evolution of that
whole concept. It's awesome, Awesome stuff
there. Interesting take here.
Bryan Danielson, Here's a guy who, you know, he may have been
to WrestleMania, had that whole yes movement and all that good
stuff there, had to take some time off because his neck was
(30:37):
junk. It happens.
You know, Stone Cold Steve Austin had warned him about
doing that head butt, that diving head butt off the top
rope and it caught up to him, which, you know, Danielson
admitted that probably is what did him in.
So you had to take some time off.
Eventually he comes back, leavesthe WWE, signs with AEW, does
(30:57):
his thing there. Now he's he's retired and and
going into commentary, but he said something interesting that
I want to get your take on. Devon Danielson believes that
WWE is trying to put AEW out of business and he feels like
they're going too far with promoting against AEW, you know,
(31:22):
having the same dates so fans have to go back and forth or
choose one over the other. He he feels like WWE doesn't
need to do that because AE WS not really competition for them.
What are your thoughts on that just from an initial standpoint?
Well, I think AE WS definitely competition, no question about
(31:43):
it. Maybe not at the level like a
WCW was where they were kicking WW ES, but in ratings, but
they're definitely they're definitely a force to be
reckoned with. I don't like the way and I agree
with Bubba on Busted Open Radio and look, I don't like the way
sometimes booking you've done there.
(32:07):
I think it's done wrong half thetime sometimes.
And I feel like it can be betterbecause again, I've always said
this and you know this, I've always put the company over.
It's having one of the best rosters in wrestling, but if you
don't have the right storylines and things like that, they don't
care how good your roster is. It's just not going to pan out
(32:28):
well and I just think it needs to be booked better.
I think. I don't think Tony should be in
that position. I think Tony should run the
company, do things executively and give somebody that knows the
business, like I said, like a Michael Hayes or somebody like
that, or Shane McMahon's. I know we were talking about
Shane actually maybe going there, but somebody that will
(32:52):
just like Vin, Vince had the WWFand when he had that, Linda was
the one making the business decisions and doing all of that.
So it gave Vince time to concentrate on creative and
things like that. I think that's what Tony needs.
I think he needs to find a LindaMcMahon or somebody that will
handle the business outside of the ring.
(33:15):
And I'm sorry, we need to find somebody that's going to handle
things inside the ring and then let him do business outside.
I think he's me. I think he's better, better
suited for business outside the ring as opposed to writing
storylines and things like that.I just don't feel his book.
(33:39):
Don't feel it. I'm not saying anything wrong
about you, Tony. I really not.
So if you want to take this personal, again, this is not a
jab at you. This is not saying anything bad
about you. I just feel that maybe you'd be
better suited working behind thescenes as opposed to as opposed
to behind the scenes with the creative hand.
That's all I'm saying. You're absolutely right.
(34:02):
I agree 100%. I agree 100%.
Here's where where I heard something recently and I just
shook my head. Someone had asked Tony Kahn
about his marketing. You know, they, they put out
the, the, the Flyers and the photos of events that are
happening. AE WS going to be back in
(34:23):
Jacksonville. Get your tickets now, yadda
yadda, yadda. Right on the marketing.
They they put the different wrestlers.
These are some of the people that you're going to see
consistently. You don't see the hurt business
on the marketing. You don't see Lashley and MVP
and Shelton consistently. And with Mercedes woman formerly
(34:47):
known as Sasha Banks, she's hardly ever prominent in the
marketing. She, she may be on there, but
she's like in the back, even though she's probably their
biggest star. So someone had asked Tony about
that and he, and this is what I was told folks, I'm just going
by what I was told by somebody who heard it first hand.
(35:11):
They said that, that Tony said to them, hey, the reason why we
don't, we don't necessarily put them on the market is because we
don't have to. Everybody already knows they're
going to be here. Is that not the dumbest thing
you ever heard? Yeah, well, a lot of the things
that I've heard that is stupid and idiotic, but it's like, what
(35:31):
are you going to do? Can you imagine that?
It's like, I'm not going to, I'mnot going to advertise you,
Devon, because everybody alreadyknows you're going to be here.
So there's no reason to to put you on, put your face on
anything, you know, What the hell?
You have to, you have to, you have to laugh and grant and hope
(35:52):
it become, hope it becomes rightsome way or another.
But it's like that. Think about this for a second.
Jacksonville, now that's their base.
If you go around Jacksonville, FL, you do not see people
wearing AEW merchandise. If you go into the stores, the
Walmarts and what have you, you hardly ever see much AEW
(36:14):
merchandise. On the flip side, WWE is
everywhere. It's like, dude, what are you
doing? Even in Jacksonville.
Even in Jacksonville, so if thiswas a political race, you know,
we, we, we would say if you can't even win your own St. you
got no business in office. You know, if you can't even win
(36:39):
your own neighborhood, why the hell should I vote for you?
So it's just it, it boggles my mind, man.
And and and again, talented people in that company.
I I really don't understand the the leadership.
It just it leaves a lot to be desired.
Yeah, so much. Talent, so much talent in that
company. God, I, you know, and I just I,
(37:00):
I, I love the fact that there istalent like that there because
again, it keeps WWE on its toes. You know, you don't want to lose
somebody to go there and vice versa.
So they're competition for each other, but I definitely believe
that they are competition. Yeah, I agree.
I agree. Simply because if I can, if I
(37:23):
don't have to take what you offer me, I can go across the
street and get the same or even more than there's competition.
You know what I mean? It's not a guarantee you're
going to get my services. You're going to have to work for
it. You're going to have to
negotiate because there was a time where that didn't exist,
right? Right.
You know, when WCW went out of business there, there wasn't
(37:45):
much negotiation having to be done.
None at all. It just is what it is, you know,
so but but I I found that interesting just just to hear
that little tidbit. Why would we?
We don't need to do that becauseeveryone knows they're going to
be here. What?
I don't know, man, I don't know.There was a new documentary
(38:10):
that, you know, they just had a screening of Bubba Lust Blub
Sponge did a doc about Hulk Hogan.
And now here's the interesting part.
Brooke Hogan is in support of the documentary.
She doesn't have any issues withit.
So that's that's Hulk's daughter.
She was at the the screening andall that stuff.
(38:31):
But on the other side, Nick Hogan's son, Nick, he's suing
Bubba because he doesn't want that documentary out.
Why? What's wrong with the
documentary? Well, that's a good question.
I haven't seen it yet, so I couldn't tell you, but it is an
interesting, I guess Nick, maybebecause he wasn't a participant
(38:53):
in it, he doesn't trust that thetruth is being told, you know,
But I'll, I'll tell you, man, when you pass away, sometimes
the mess that your family has todeal with in the aftermath,
especially when you are somebody, it's just, it's
terrible. It, it's, it's terrible, you
(39:16):
know, that, that family, I wish them peace, but it's clear that
they, they just don't have it anytime soon, Huh?
You know, again, it's unfortunate, but that's what
death does to you. You know, it's sad but true.
Yeah, yeah. You know, in other news, we were
(39:37):
talking about your weight loss. How about your boy, The Rock?
Have you seen his weight loss? I saw pictures of it.
I think he's getting ready for amovie, correct?
Yes, I think it's called ChickenMan or something like that.
Yeah, he's getting ready for a but he just a smashing machine.
Right. But here's the deal.
These actors and actresses, that's what they do.
(39:59):
If they have to cut weight and do that, they'll do that, you
know? So listen, after this movie is
over and he's done doing what he's doing, we'll just say he
won't go back to look like the rock of normal.
But he does, he does look like Batista Ish, not as bad, but you
(40:19):
know, he does look a little he does look a little Batista.
Listen, when Dave lost all that weight, what was that last year
when he when he popped out, he, he, he must have lost at least
3040 lbs of muscle. I was like, who the hell is
that? Yeah, but you have to also
understand that, you know, in Hollywood, Rock is like Andre
(40:39):
the Giant compared to 90% of those actors.
So, you know, even when he did the movie Fast and Furious, I
was just watching it at the gym because they have the cardio
theater and they would they showit all the time.
And you look at Rock compared toDevo and and all those other
guys, and he's just, he's massive.
Yeah, compared to those guys, you know.
Yeah, he's a monster. Yeah, yeah.
(41:02):
And I had heard rumblings for The Rundown, like it was either
before they made that or just ask us how they made it that
they. I guess Hollywood was asking him
to trim down because he was justtoo damn big.
Yeah, yeah. You know, but he was just too
damn big. I mean, you know.
How do you beat him like you can't?
(41:24):
How are you a hero in a movie when you look like that?
Because you could never be vulnerable, you know?
Yeah, it's it's not believable that that I can kick that guy's
ass. No way.
Yeah, but. You got to look at, you got to
look at it too. In this aspect.
It's Hollywood. So if it's in the movies, you
know, they're they. That's like Rambo walking around
(41:46):
with, what was it, M60? Yep, Yep.
That's like Rambo walking aroundwith an M60, carrying it and
shooting it. And I remember as a little kid,
you know, I was a big Rambo fan.So I sat there and I was putting
it over. One time in the adults is like
Devon, that is impossible. Do you know how heavy that gun
is? There's no way an average man
(42:07):
can walk around with a gun that big shooting it without putting
it down and and doing the right thing by it.
You have to put it down and thenstart shooting.
You can't carry that around in one arm and start shooting it.
Of course, I'm a kid. I didn't know any better.
I was like, oh, he's Rambo. He could do that.
You know, I'm not thinking realistically, but again, it's
(42:27):
Hollywood. You know, if it's Hollywood,
people know it's Hollywood. It's it's not real.
And you know they're going to doeverything for the movies.
True. I'm going to give you a prime
example. I just saw The Conjuring.
I liked it, but the way they were portraying it as it being
(42:48):
the scariest conjuring out there, I doubt it.
I don't I don't, I didn't see that.
I saw the one with Annabelle being the most scariest.
I didn't see this one being scary at all like that.
Did it? Did it have its moments?
Absolutely. It had its moments, but again, I
didn't see it. It was good.
I'm not telling you not to rush out and go see it.
Go see it if you're a big Conjuring fan.
(43:09):
But I didn't feel that it was asscary as they said it did.
Now, here's the issue that I have on social media, especially
Instagram, they were showing youvideos of people passing out or
people acting like they were possessed because they went and
saw this movie. And again, that got me.
I'm like, OK, this has got to begood.
Hell, I even said a prayer before I walked in the theater,
(43:31):
you know, because I was like, I only know evil spirits following
me. And but when I went in there, I
was like, oh man, this is not asscary as I thought it was going
to be. I was entertained, don't get me
wrong, but it didn't blow me away like the social media was
hanging. It was going to be.
Now the Exorcist. You know, those were true.
You know, when you look at the videos from back in 1973,
(43:54):
because they got all this footage on YouTube now you can
go back and see it. People passing out, people
throwing up, priests outside helping people because, you
know, again, this was something that had never been seen before.
And you know, the exorcist messing with the Book of
Revelation in the Bible and demon possession at the time.
You don't want to ever take it to that level.
(44:16):
Yeah, I I didn't know that you were you were into the scary
movies like this, bro. Oh, I love them.
I love them. The exorcism is the only one I
still to this day cannot watch by myself.
I will not watch it in the room.If it comes on the TV for a
commercial, I turn it. Can I do it?
Oh, I'm sticking with the light on after it's over.
This is good. So so hold on, hold on.
(44:37):
What about more of the sci-fi stuff?
Have you seen the new series? Not not the movies, but the new
series Alien. Have you seen that yet?
Does it stuff alien movies? Stuff like zombie apocalypse
doesn't bother me. OK.
Listen, I enjoy Jason, I enjoy Michael Myers.
To me, it's fun. To me, I look at it as
(44:58):
entertaining joy, you know, not scary moves like stream Final
Destination. Love those movies, love to
death. But again, the only movie that
gets me is possession movies. The possession of Emily Rose was
probably the next best thing next to the original exercise.
(45:18):
Wow. Wow, I gotta go see that because
of the fact that the things thatwas said in the movies.
There was one particular part where the girl ran out of the
room. She was possessed by the devil.
She runs out into the barn. She runs out into the barn and
was on a farm. She runs out and the deep the
the priest started trying to cast out the demon.
(45:40):
And of course the Bible tells you to ask the demon what who is
he? What is his name?
You want the demon to be able totell you who he is, and the
demon doesn't want to do that. He fights you against it.
So when the priest started throwing the holy word, he said,
who are you? He said, I am.
He said I am Hitler. I am.
(46:01):
She started naming all the serial killers, all the bad
people that were in the world. And then she said, I am Lucifer
himself. And right now I got goosebumps.
She's saying that she named every, every bad person on the
earth and then ended it with Lucifer.
(46:21):
It was, it was. And the listeners, you know what
I'm talking about. That was probably one of the
most scariest thing because whenyou read the book of
Revelations, a lot of people cannot read that book in the
Bible and go to sleep because, you know, it's the end of the
world if the apocalypse. It's everything.
The one thing I tried to explainto somebody, I said the Bible
(46:44):
says that at one time what's going to happen is when the
rapture starts to come, people are just going to disappear.
You know, your mother will disappear, your brother will
disappear. You won't know where they are
because God is taking them up. It's like they don't have to go
through death. They'll just be taken up into
heaven. And when that point comes,
that's when you know the raptureis coming.
(47:04):
That's when you know Jesus is onhis way.
God is coming, the end of the earth is coming.
The Four Horsemen is on their way.
Dude, you now, now you got me going.
Have you ever watched that show on HBO?
The Leftovers. No, I never seen The Leftovers.
OK, that you got to put that on your list.
(47:25):
If, if you if you have HBO Max, you got to put that on your
list. It's a it's a show and it has
multiple seasons called The Leftovers.
The whole premise is exactly what you just said.
Everybody's going through their their day, and then suddenly out
of nowhere, half the population disappears.
Yeah, it just disappeared. Just disappeared.
(47:47):
Like, like somebody's pushing a shopping cart in the grocery
parking lot. And it's something the shopping
cart in the grocery and disappears.
Disappears. So the carts just like this,
yeah. People can sit here and think
the Bible is scaring up, but these are times that you're
going to be faced with if you'rehere during that time, either
you read about it and know aboutit so when it comes it doesn't
(48:09):
surprise you, or you'll be surprised when it comes and then
scared to death even more. Well, and that's the thing.
So, so with this show, it deals with everybody who's left
behind. They're The Leftovers and them
having to face. Yes, they're going to be people
left here, the Antichrist. Yeah, but it's like.
Yeah, people, the people that are, it's like people who are
(48:31):
still being judged will be judged and be left here with the
Antichrist. And you will not be able to
sell, buy or do anything with the mark of the beast, which is
666. And if you don't take that, if
you don't take that, then then suffering will come your way 10
times more than you can imagine.Crazy.
(48:55):
So, so to see that act out, it's.
Very scary when you read the book of Revelations to see it
acted out and BPA live when it happens.
Yeah, it's, it's crazy, man, cause 'cause even just from a
psychological standpoint, to come to grips with the fact
that, wait a second, if this is the rapture, that means I
wasn't, I wasn't chosen. So, you know, wrapping your head
(49:18):
around what comes next. Yeah, yeah, the leftovers,
definitely. I definitely recommend that for
everybody. It's going to be scary times.
People need to get their lives right and they don't get it.
People always say, I got time, Igot time, I got time.
You crying and begging and pleading for God to save you and
for God to forgive you for not doing what you were supposed to
(49:38):
do when there was time. He's not going to do that.
And then you look at him, you say, well, he's supposed to be a
forgiving God. Yes, we forgave you all the
years that you were here on earth and you were loved it and
not to do his word, you reluctant not to do what he
said. And now when the time has come,
he warned you that he was coming, He told you he was
coming and you still reluctant to do what you want to do on
(50:01):
earth. You know, like for instance, the
first time when I get up in the morning, the first thing, the
first thing I say when I get up is I say thank you Lord for
waking me up this morning. You know, the first thing a lot
of people do is they grab their phones and look at social media.
If you, if it wasn't for God waking you up, you wouldn't be
able to get up and look at social media.
So why do you have to look at why is the first thing you're
going to do is grab your phone and look at what somebody wrote
(50:22):
about you or she was in the newswhen you could be thanking God
for waking you up to allow you to be able to do that?
That's that's an interesting wayof looking at it.
That's an interesting way of looking at it, Steve.
So again, folks, the leftover see, watch it acted out because
then you start asking yourself, well, damn, what would I do in
that situation? Oh no, you know, it's, it's,
(50:46):
it's hard to wrap your head around.
I, you brought up the The Conjuring.
So I'm going to bring up a moviethat I just saw highest to
lowest. It's the new Denzel Washington
film that that's directed by Spike Lee.
Really good movie, definitely worth my time.
I'm not going to say was the best, but it's it's really,
really good. It was in the theaters for a
(51:07):
couple of weeks. It was, it was a limited showing
in theaters. It's actually on.
Is it on Apple? I got to double check that.
I think it's. Yeah, it's on Apple TB Plus.
But Denzel plays a record executive whose son gets
kidnapped and held for ransom. And him and his family and what
(51:28):
have you. They got to figure out how to
get the kid back. Really, really good.
Really, really good movie. Again, directed by Spike Lease.
You already know what's what's going on there.
But you didn't. You didn't know about it, No.
No, I did not know about it. All right, well, listen, that's
the one you list now too. Oh yeah, now I got to watch and
(51:48):
now I got to look at that. Yeah, man, there's a.
Lot of things when it comes to biblical stuff, when it comes to
biblical stuff, I'm huge on that.
I I I want to know as much as I can about it.
Well, you you said biblical stuff.
Have you seen The Chosen? Yes, but I'm trying to remember
what was it about again. So.
I know, I've seen it. Yeah, that this is about the
(52:11):
life of Jesus, the chosen. I think a a new season has, has
come out, but yeah, it's, it's, it's about the life of Jesus.
And it's, it's set in Judea and, and, and, and Galilee.
They spent a lot of money producing that damn thing there.
It's, it's 42 episodes long overall.
(52:33):
And it it's it it's considered like the definitive telling of
that period, you know what I mean?
Like, they really have done a good job.
Yeah. Yeah, they really did a good job
with that, you know. OK, gotcha.
It's, it's interesting. I mean, we, we can, we can watch
any, we can listen to anything, we can read anything.
(52:55):
But to see it acted out, bro, isjust a different level, you
know, 'cause you can get wrappedup in it so well.
You and I got to talk after the show 'cause I'm gonna have to
remind myself, but, you know, inturn to remind myself of these
movies you're telling me about. But I'm not going to be able to
reach you. Are you done with the Paint
campaign? It's worse than trying to get a
(53:19):
meeting with Donald Trump. Listen, you're the big star.
I'm not a big star like you, man.
You. Know I don't know about that.
Go to Boston in my I don't know, you might have been the one that
got that got John Cena moved outof Boston for his last match.
I know what a what a terrible, what a terrible situation that
(53:42):
is. Why?
Why did they do that? Well there's a lot I can say and
it maybe I I I should keep it offline and tell.
You. Well, we can.
We can talk off air. We can talk off air.
I'll just say this. The way that the dirt sheets are
telling the story is not completely accurate.
Folks, I know exactly what happened because I, you know, I
(54:07):
know exactly what happened. Let's just put it like that.
And I'm telling you right now, it is not characterized
properly. I saw a post where a guy who's
local here and he's talking about, well, you know, Boston
didn't do this and Boston didn'tdo that, but he's talking about
a nonprofit organization. When you talk about Boston,
(54:30):
you're talking about the city ofBoston.
And when you're referencing the city of Boston as a body, you
are speaking about our government.
So the fact that people are talking about a nonprofit
organization that WWE was talking to, which I don't even
know why they bother talking to those folks.
It's just strange that the reporting on what happened is,
(54:52):
is, is just not accurate. But yeah, John Cena's last match
is. It looks like it's happening in
Washington, DC instead of what Cena wanted, which is here in
Boston. Yeah, exactly.
I mean, he's from West Newbury, but yeah, close enough.
But it's ironic. And we what?
I was saying too much. Devon, you and I have been
(55:13):
talking about this for a couple of weeks because I at one point
I even asked you about something.
So it's just strange that that whole situation fell apart.
And it really just comes down tothe right People weren't
speaking to each other. It's as simple as.
That it's always the case. It's always the case, you know,
(55:34):
you're talking to somebody who may have presented themselves as
somebody who can get things done.
They weren't the right person tospeak to.
And I guess the WWE grew frustrated and they started
shopping around elsewhere and then took a deal elsewhere.
But it's like, dude, you should have just been talking to the
right people all along. Why were you talking to the
wrong people? You know?
(55:55):
So it's, it's, it's too bad, man.
It's too bad nonetheless. I mean, scene is going to be
here in November for his last match in Boston, which is going
to be a big deal. I think it's going to be on Raw.
But what a disappointment, man. We, we were already advertising
December 13th, Saturday night's Main event happening here in
Boston. And that was supposed to be seen
(56:16):
as last match. Our local media was already
advertising that. So the fact that that change is
just frustrating, man, very frustrating.
But you know, the show goes on. What can you say?
Anyway, Devon, what's the best way that everybody listening can
keep up with you and and figure out what's going on next 'cause
you got a lot going on over there.
(56:38):
Absolutely. So my YouTube channel, Devon
Dudley YouTube, you can check meout there and of course,
Instagram, testified Devon as well as Twitter.
Twitter is just basically for advertisement really.
I check my DMS every once in a while, but not really, not so
much. That's really how you can find
(56:58):
me and leave and like comments down below on the YouTube
channel. I read those and like and
subscribe. And listen, just because he's
slim and trim and you know, he'sgot the muscles popping out
again and what have you, ladies, calm yourselves, all right?
Take it easy. Take it easy.
(57:20):
It's not. Going to be.
You need to go that route. It's not going to be, you know,
remember they used to have the fireman calendars and what have
you. Ain't going.
I have no no. No, I ain't going to do that.
No, not to stop you right now. Ain't going to be done.
That going on. Nope.
Listen, you do it all that DDP yoga man, they they might want
to see you with the leg on your on your on your man.
Listen. Ain't nobody, nobody throwing
(57:42):
darts at me. Stop it right now.
We acted up today, boy, we actedup, you know.
