Episode 2: Königsallee continuation

Almost all global labels in the fashion, shoe and jewellery industry have their own stores here or are featured in the high-end department stores or boutiques. The lease rates befit the social standards, ranging from approximately 230 Euros per square metre. More specifically, a small store-front of about 100 square metres with a 6 metre front window costs about 23,000 Euros per month.You’ll encounter a few stylish cafés and restaurants along with the luxury stores as well. However, you’ll search for fast-food restaurants in vain. McDonalds wanted to open a franchise here in the mid 1990’s. They had already found a location, but after heavy protests by local business owners, who thought that such an establishment was incompatible with Königsallee’s ambience, the owner of the building withdrew his leasing proposal. The style has been preserved until today... for now!
