Speaker 1 (00:44):
Eers a good podcasts recording.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
This Monday evening, December twenty second, twenty twenty five, little
Bit Flavor today on this podcast, decided to play a
little different intro. That'scus I wanted to hi guys, the
one we are now three days until Christmas. I just
checked the feet of a while ago, and I just
realized this is the first solo episode I think I've done,

(01:07):
and over a month I have been completely busy. Now look,
here's it. I've been recording pods. You guys know, I'm
record podcast but we have a lot of guests on
the show. But you know, the solo shows typically typically
are where I sit down and talk about all the
things going on in my life, all the things that
are you know, just you know, outside of the guests
I have and their interests whatnot.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
So my last solo episode I recorded was November eighteenth,
twenty twenty five, literally over a month ago. And we've
been done a lot in the last couple weeks. As
you guys know, I recently moved to a new place.
Like I said, I move actually just two billings over,
not necessarily a big move, but there was a lot

(01:51):
that was entailed in the mood. By the way, we
are going audio only today on this one. I have
really bad I have really really bad allergies, really bad
algies that I got last night and it's trickle over to today.
I went to work today, I had to leave early,
work early today, and that when I get really bad allergies, man,
it is bad. Like it's it's not just the fact

(02:13):
that I have to you know, stiffling and snorting and
the sneeze and all this stuff. It really wears me
down and like I actually feel sick, like I feel weak,
and I feel I can't move in a lethargic.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I can't stand it. But anyway, back to the move.
You guys know, I move.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I've been saying it on the on the other show's
been doing and over course the last month or so.
But the move itself was smooth for us for the
most part. Like we got a lot done, we downsize
a lot and which which was great because I told you, guys,
you know the last time we did the pod when
we when we were telling you we're doing this, one
of the things my wife and I want to do

(02:51):
was to give it a lot of ship like we
lived in We lived in our other place for eight years, we.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Gathered a lot of stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Even when we try to not you know, add to
much things in the house and get rid of things
and summer cleans and spring cleans whatnot, it wasn't enough.
But she's in the place now where she wanted to
get rid of so much stuff. And you know, me,
I'm always looking to find ways to cut back on things, and.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Especially with stuff, doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
And as we were going through the house packing stuff,
we got rid of so much crap, you know. And
even now we're winning a new place down we'll we're
still looking to do cuts now. Like I told, I
told my wife, like you know, I'm comparing this like
to like Elon Musk and Doge. Of course that's not
very popular right now because of some of the political
landscape of things there.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
But it was just a joke. This is a joke.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
The move itself was smooth. We had really good friends
help us help us out on the move. Shot with
my friend's Donnie and my friend's jess And and Todd
and his kids came over and helped us out. Of course,
my friend Jason helped us help me with some of
the pre move stuff with the U all truck and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
But we don't feel quite settled in yet. And the
reason why is.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Because we moved here and the development here and force
they were not prepared. They were not ready. And my
wife got one in that because early because we noticed
that we knew we were moving to and about nine
days prior to us moving here, we saw that the

(04:17):
the people that were here, people who are who were
living here initially were still here nine days before we
move in there they moved, I think, moved out like
ninety before we feel move in now. Typically in the development,
you need about two three weeks before you can move
into the next place, like they need to clean out
the place, you know, gut it out, you know, clean up,
replace things, all that. And my wife said, I don't

(04:38):
think that'll be ready in time because uh, it's like
only a week to prepare. And sure enough she was
correct on that. We got here and they didn't clean
the place at all. We had we had to call
a c clean crew to come clean the place and
they were we want to come in until later that night,
and like she's like no, no, no, no, no, we're moving in today.
Like we're moving today. We need a place clean, so
they able to move it up the clean crew here.

(04:59):
You can smell the pain, how fresh it was. They
probably just paid in the garage and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
It was.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
It was a bit of a cluster fuck in a
sense because like we get here and then we have
like issues with with the fridge, which will only now
getting fixed tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Got a new fridge.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
The fridge is fine, it's just that the the ice
pakers don't work now and we finally get it in
replaced today.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
We had an issue with the we had.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
We had a bit of a bug issue too also,
which will finally get into the bottom of now. Finally,
there's a lot of things that were not prepared, a
couple of damages of things in the house that they fixed. Finally,
the garage was broken. Then it fixed the garage finally
a couple of days after we moved in. So it
was smooth on our end, but they were not ready
on their end, and it really sucked.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And the worst part is that it'd be one thing.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
If they were gonna wave the transfer fee, then I'm
not gonna claim about it. But we paid one thousand
dollars to move Okay, we paid a thousand dollars to
move and they still weren't ready, you know, And I'm like,
what we paid for them, you know what I'm saying.
But uh, you know, like I said, uh, we're finally in.

(06:05):
We've been We've been here now about two weeks and
a few days. The kids love it. We went from
a two to two and a half townhouse to a
tow to apartment. But and while it is smaller in
square space in square feet, you won't notice it though,
because on one we downside so much from a one
number two. I'm convinced that the square foot that we

(06:27):
we lost was solely on the stairs. Because the kids
love it, they say themselves, they feel spacious here, they
feel like they have more privacy here, They're happier here.
For me personally, this is a great move for me,
for starters. You know, I got a patio again for
you know, after a while, because the patty. We had
a patty in the last place, though, but the patty

(06:49):
was not cut off at least the title here is
cut off now where it is actually a space to
where it's like a door it's supposed to like it
was open before. But the best part from me, of course,
and I said in the show, ready is I now
get more podcast space? So we had a one car
garage at an old place. We end up getting a

(07:11):
two car garage. So the garage here.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Is fucking massive.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Okay, so much to the point now that I am
now able to do all my shows in here. In
the garage, you hear it a little bit echo, which
is fine. It's a lot of space, and we used
to We did my shows before in my bedroom closet,
which is a very spacious closet. Thank god, we're doing
it here because the closet space that I have currently,

(07:35):
while it is semi large, it is nowhere in the
space of what I had before. So it hasked I
need a space to do the podcast, and thankfully I
had the space here to do that.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So for me, it's I have a lot of room now.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
I mean, guys, to be honest with you, I'm probably
gonna be a man cave here, most likely an actually
man came, I'm play to put a TV in here,
I'm gonna put a couch in here. I have that
much room, that's how big it is. So for me
on the first of is fantastic. The only thing I
was worried about initially was that. Okay, so I'm in
the garage and between the garage and the house itself,
it's it's concrete.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
So could the Wi Fi work properly?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
And so far it has been nothing but perfection, honestly,
so I am very excited about that. Now we again,
we are still kind of in the rhythm right now
because you know, again there's still things getting fixed on
the fly. Still there's the you know, the bug issues
still being worked out. We got festcalto coming tomorrow. The
fridge is finally getting fixed tomorrow, finally. So we're not

(08:35):
one hundred percent sells in yet. My wife especially not
selling yet. She's been stressed the hell out the last
two weeks because of it. She doesn't feel settled this yet,
so which I which I totally understand. You know, she
she likes things a certain way be done a certain way,
and you know, and I get that. She she she
deserves to have what she wants, you know, and in
that way, and she does the right things and the

(08:56):
right do at the right time. And but now we
are we're close still in now, you know, the holidays
are around the corner. We bought a tree last week
and so slowly getting to the holidays. Now, I didn't
we were still stressed.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Out with the move that.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
We didn't feel in a Christmas spirit until like literally
last week any mean anything. Then were still like kind
of like we're not real We're kind of limping in,
but we're not really like fully in in for the
most part. I think by the time we get to
the middle of this week, you should be okay, visiting
family and you know, doing all the functions we do
every year.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
But uh, you.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Know, I will say once once we settle in officially,
like really still in, I think we'll be a couple
more days or a couple of weeks, it's gonna be.
I think we're gonna have a very very good time
here in this space. I know, for me personally, I
love it. I told you the podcast space, it's a
huge me So sorry my voice sounds cracking out pologized

(09:52):
as my as my alergies, but you know, mo'ste what happens,
and but uh, I'm very happy to be here now.
This weekend we went to probably will be all last
concert of the year, my wife and I a.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Little date night.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
We went to see Creed Down the Hard rock Semine
old hard rock in uh in Hubard, Florida. We know
we saw Creed. Yes, the reason we went to the
show wasn't good.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
At Creed though.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
We went to see to see one of our favorite bands,
seven Dust. I have probably seen seven dusts somewhere in
neighborhood of ten to twelve. What made me thirteen times live.
Seven Dust, of course, is one of my top five
FRA bands, actually my top three four fair bands of
all time. I am my wife and I both but
especially me, I am a massive fan of the band.
We went because they are they are they are the

(10:38):
opening acts. We got free tickets, honestly, and honestly, we
would have to be honest with you, we wouldn't have
gone through the show if we didn't get three tickets,
only because the fact that seven Dust was not playing
in a headline spot they opened the show. So we decided,
you know, we get free tickets with this go And
not only that, we made a date night and we
had a great time. My wife and I have been
I hadn't have a chance to really spend tny other
really next come months in like away from the kids

(11:00):
for an extend period of time outside of a breakfast
here or a dinner here, so us going to the
concert having you know, having a great time. We went
to dinner at the hard Rock Cafe. We had a
nice dinner together. Her and I then went to the concert,
had a great time. I gotta tell you, by the way,
the show is called Creed mus which is that creates
Christmas shows. And I gotta tell you that the crowd

(11:23):
was I'll be straight up, the crowd was fucking lame.
Bro It was lame in my opinion, like a seven
lars show, especially to the crowds are much more into it.
And yeah, still some of us fans there and they
went to jamming and whatever. There was some section of
people that were enjoying it, But the crowd's a little
bit older too, especially now. Granted I'm probably I'm in
that same ilk of the of the same age of
the group of the people who are older. But I

(11:44):
was still into it. I was still singing my ass
off for some of us during their set. Creed was
pretty good. I actually enjoyed Creed set. We didn' stay
the entire time. Gotta get back home. It about our
drive from where we were at to get our kids
goos up my brothers house the entire day.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
But Creed was good. This is actually the second time
second time I've seen him.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Live, technically my third time, although the third time the
first time I saw them, I didn't see him. I
missed them strange enough, nineteenighty nine when I first saw Creed,
which I didn't see them in fourteen, they played with
the Metallica who was opening act. It was the main act,
but it was kid rock selling us Creed and Metallica.
But I missed the first three bands because I came

(12:26):
to the show late. It was the December twenty ty
nine at the old Orange Bowl. That was my second
time Teamtalaga live. And then we saw Creed in twenty ten,
I believe, and honestly they we my wife I wouldn't
se him back in twenty ten.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
We did not enjoy that show whatsoever. We thought Scott
sounded like shit.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
The band doesn't sound great in my opinion, so I
wasn't as thrilled about the show for Creed. But I
gotta tell you, Scott's step looks very healthy. If you
read his story, is a lot of demons he's gone
through through his life and he's coming a better out
of it now atas what it seems like.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
But yeah, they sound really good.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
I was really impressed with that with with them. I'll
tell you Marchamonnty the guitar player of anything, he is
to me the MP that man, he is a phenomenal,
phenomenal guitar player, writes amazing riffs.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
To me.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
That's the reason I the reason I like Creags Fight
because of him. Love the first album My Own Prison. Sorry,
but uh yeah, it was a good It was a
good night. But you know, fens on my wife and
you know, you know, being able to connect again her
and I, which we've been having a lot of issues
with that later because we've been you know, had been busy.
We've been busy with Christmas and work and the move

(13:41):
and everything around it. And it's important to make sure
the main thing is the main thing is make sure
your family, your your marriage attack and the kids are
good and family is good and all that stuff. So
we won't say, get some water real quick, all right,
Sorry that had to take a silver water her man.
I'm telling you, my my AALERGI is killing me. I
know I don't have a podcast, I know, honestly, But anyway,

(14:03):
let's talk about the New York Mets off season. It's
been a very crazy option in the Mets, and the
Mets had a very disappointing season end of the year.
You have to know that with all the expectations coming
to the year and what was expected of this team,
you know, the way, and then you couldn't. You couldn't
expect the same team to come back next year, and

(14:24):
unfortunately the Mets. I'm making a lot of moves now
to of guys off this roster and even guys I
love and I'm hurt by who's not gonna be here.
But you know, you do you gotta do is it's
a business, and it's also you know, if you fail,
you have to make a move. They're doing that. You
gotta get Davis Turns credit for that. First off, the
big move I couldn't they're really gunned me was you know,

(14:46):
they they traded Brandon Nemo from Marcus Deemen Teca based
Marcus Semen, which okay, so Marcus Semens is actually a
really really good techa basement like really good like Go
Glove Winter, But I love Nemo. Nimmo's Grand Nemo is
actually my favorite play on the Mets squad. He just
plays hard, puts the ten down. But at the same time,
you gotta make moves. Yeah, and when Diaz now, you know,

(15:07):
signing with the Dodgers for three years because million dollars,
that was another tough move. But again, you know, we'll
see if that if da is still gonna be as good.
He's been kind of shaky in recent years. Of course,
the big one losing p Alonzo's and Orioles at five years,
one twive million dollars. I man, I wish if anything
they could have made it, made it work with Alonzo.

(15:27):
But at the same time, could you really honestly justify
paying p Alonzo at age? I think he started to
you right now. Could you justify paying pi Alonzo at
that those many years at that clip, especially give him
how to see the plant last year. You can't blame
the Mets front office. I know it's unpopular. Again, Mets

(15:51):
fans are a mad and righty. So but here's the thing.
What if these moves actually work and put the team
over the top. I mean it was again it was
clear there's a ceiling, and quite frankly, after this teamilting
down the second half of the year, reality had to
settle in that this was likely, you know.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
But here's why.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Here's what I will say, David Stearn's the fish on
the clock because these are very this are severely unprobable
with the fan base. However, something had to be done
and we have to be willing to see this through
because in the day something wasn't working. So you can't
say he's not doing anything. He's doing something. He's making
tough moves. Well I like the moves or not, we

(16:28):
won't know that, you know. I didn't like it initially.
It was heartbreaking, but I also understood it's business. It's
also you can't bring that same team back after the
way they melted down last year.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
You can't. You can't.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
You can't just wipe that. I seriously just cannot just
wipe that. So I can't say I'm mad at him
for that, Honestly, I really cannot. So well, we'll see,
like I said, well a couple months of more season
starts obviously, but this this is very uh tough, tough
timey metsan right now. Lots of lots of guys I loved,
and all of players a lot of fans love to
walls are gone. But like I said, there's no waying

(17:02):
hell you you could expect this same team to come
back next year.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
It's just impossible. It really is impossible.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
NBA Christmas, I gotta tell you this way the first
time in a couple of years, because you know, the
NBA has always been Christmas time is where the NBA
really starts to launch into. Like like, if you're a
casual NBA fan, you're not really watching intently between October
and December.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
You more into football and this and that.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
And as football starts toll at a little bit now
we get to the playoffs and costball into the playoffs,
the NBA starts to come more focused. Now me, of
course I'm different, I'm a diehard. And but the NFL
last couple of years have actually dominated, has actually taken
over NBA and at Christmas Day too also. But this
year's schedule in the NFL is pretty crappy, and they,

(17:51):
I mean, and again, they didn't even expect this. Like
the three games this year they have in the NFL
mean nothing, most of them, most of mean nothing. Like
the first game. For example, who's played the first game
this year? Let me see that first game is uh
Cowoy's Colwoy's commanders like people still watch it, I'm sure,
but both teams out the playoffs. Both teams will live

(18:11):
for the playoff contention, so it doesn't matter, it doesn't care.
Second game Lions and Vikings like the Lions. The Lions
are still playing for playoffs, to go to the playoffs,
but they gotta went out. They're they're they're they're they're
hopes of the playoffs are very narrow at best. Minnesota's
out as well too, and then you have the late
game Denver and Kansas City where Denver's number one seed
curly in AFC, so they're they're they're playing. They're playing

(18:34):
to keep positions to keep the number one seeing the
AFC Casey's done that they're done. Mahomes is hurt and
then the back ups hurts on top of that, so
they're done. So other than Detroit and Denver's playing for
playoff positioning or to stay alive.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
The NFL schedule for Christmas this year are like in
past years, is crappy. It's crappy.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
So the NBA this year may have actually have a chance,
to not say outright, the NFL, because I'm like, I
think everyone out went the NFL, but at least at
the very least showcase some of the games. And it
gets some good games this year.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
You know.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
First off the noon game, you got Calves and Knicks,
possible Easter Conference finals matchup, although the Calves have been
really undwhelman this year. The Knicks to me should be
the easy favorites in the in the East in my opinion.
You got Spurs and Thunder that that the this this
could be the biggest robbery of the future.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
You have Wemby against uh uh, you know against SGA
Wemby against chet Holmgren, the.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Future of the league right there.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
At two thirty, you got the five o'clock game, the
you know Mavericks and Warriors. That's a little bit mid game,
but the you know, Cooper Flax playing one side. Steph
Crevee should be healthy for this one as well too,
also play Thompson returns.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
To Golden State.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Of course, you got the eight o'clock game between the
Rockets and the Lakers. Lakers are playing great support this year.
Rockets also been phenomenal, you know with Kevin Durant whatnot.
Then linking of course between the Wolves and the Nuggets,
you have an average against. So the the n b
A slate is so much more intriguing than the NFIL
form once this year, now what what play out in

(20:11):
the numbers? That mains me a scene. But they'd very
intriguing matchups just this year in the NBA. I'm looking
forward to it finally, if I get out of here.
We're still reeling over the news of Rob Reiner, who
was murdered a week and a half ago.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
By looks like his son. It seems like his son
is is the gonna be.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
It seems like a very a shut, shut, shut door
case pretty much that his son was one I murder him.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Was his son?

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Nick Rider murdered him? And as I told you guys,
you know when I did a pot I think with
Jim a couple of days ago and others, I was
a huge I was a huge, huge, huge drug Rider fan.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I love his movies.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
I mean even love his political commentary, like when we
whenever beyond Bilt, We'll be on any TV, any any
shows on cable TV, or any podcasts. If he was talking,
I was listening. He was on Pierce Moregan. He was
actually kind of a kind of a semi regular on
Pierce Morgan's podcast, and whenever he was on there, I
always watched because I loved hearing his perspective, I mean,

(21:16):
and a lot of politics I agree with him two also,
So I'm not gonna sit and bullshit you about that.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
But above all, he was like he's seen.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Like a very kind man more than anything else. So
I want to give you guys my top five Rob
Ryner movies of all time. And if there's many, and
it's some more, I'm realizing that had not had not
seen that I need to see. I know there's one
about Lyndon Johnson, President Lyndon Johnson that he actually directed
back in twenty sixteen. I think it was and I

(21:45):
think Whatiy Harrelson was play Lyndon Johnson. I need to
watch that. If I don't know, I'm gonna try to
find that tonight and see if I can watch it.
If the game tonight, by the way, if the Colts
game tonight against the against the uh the Niners is shitty,
I might make that my my plans to night. So
top five Rob Reiner movies of all time. Number five.
This is Spinal Tap, the classic. What a classic. I

(22:08):
haven't seen this a long time.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I haven't.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I think it's not been on DVD actually though, but
this is a classic. I I had no I forgot.
I forget sometimes that he directed this movie.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
This is first directly directing movie, but it's definitely one
of the first ones first, definitely one of the first
big ones. But this is spinal tap is A is A.
I haven't heard to watch the movie in a long time.
I didn't watch it again, but uh, it's been a
long time. But great, great, great movie, all right. Number
four stand by Me, another classic from ninete eighty six,
Another movie I haven't seen a long time, but it

(22:41):
was one of the movies that growing up, you know,
you couldn't you could not avoid it. I love the
storytelling on it to especially to very well written. Another classic.
Number three. These top three are my ultimate these top
three here or my ultimate ultimate Top three with a bullet.
Number three my all time favorites steveson Seattle. I used

(23:03):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
