Speaker 1 (00:34):
Welcome, Welcome to another edition of the unfiltered part of
the Turnstreet podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm the holt ernest question. Recording this on Monday, sever
twenty ne two twenty five. Uh not to get to
today what not? Let's shoot me up obviously all the
top text episode.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
But you know, I am really really pissed off. I
had a horrible sports weekend. And that's including the Giants
winning actually, you know, jacket start winning jack and Dart
winning the first ever start first start as a strong
cardheund of Giants, maybe you gotta started off crappy, but
the for sting Seminoles losing to Virginia on Friday night,

(01:17):
that was bad enough as it was. That was bad enough, okay,
And then we had the whole entire weekend of the
Mets were in town here, they played the Marlins and
about an hour and someone minutes plated from the stadium.
I had considered one point going to win the games,
but it's got worked out and all they had to
do was win one more, win two out of three

(01:40):
and they're in the playoffs. Then two three, and they
did not do that.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
In fact, here's the worst part of the bets.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
They you know, they by by Friday night, they lost
control their own destiny because when they lost to Miami
on Friday, the Reds and won their game, so the
Reds had a tiebreaker.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Both teams also won on Saturday, so as a watch, the.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Mets on Sunday still got the opportunity to playoffs, spot
the Reds lost to Milwaukee. Milwaukee I believe benched all
their starters in doing so, and the Mets still still
could not get a job done, losing the final game

(02:24):
of the regular season for nothing in Miami. This team
this year was a complete embarrassment, and I hate to
say it, I'm not blaming Wan so by mean this
is a video we did. We did a podcast on
last week with Steve Borstein, a friend of mine, former

(02:44):
former radio hosts Dronist Now, and that uh I put.
I put a clip of the of the of a
conversation we had on that show talk about Wuan Soto.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
And he was.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Very blunt in his in his his observation on the
Mets signed one so saying it was it was a
mistake to something that kind of money or set it
off on a matter because the fact that he's a cancer.
I disagree with all the all the excess of stuff. Though,
what I will say and I did say even then
when we made the signing before and then even after designing,

(03:19):
and said, I'm a mind having Wan Soto.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
That's for a record, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I'm not blaming Juan Soto for white the mess plus
this year. I'm not blaming him whatsoever. But what did
I say the date happened. You can go back to
my social media. It's still there, that tweeted, still be
still there. I'm on Instagram to also where I said
I like one, so I don't mind having Wan so
do I don't know if I like Wansoda at Seve
hundrellion dollars plus because it wasn't because I didn't want

(03:48):
won so is because that money could have been better
well spent elsewhere filling out the team, feeling not pitching.
And then even when the Mets went out to a
fast start in April in May, what did I send
this podcast and I always do have Mets check in
every so often. What did I say on social media?
What did I say on this show that very good start?

(04:09):
And by the way, at the time, solo was playing
like garbage solos that wasn't having a good year at all.
At the time, the Mets played their best baseball and
Soda wasn't playing well. And I'm not cordating it too
for the record, because baseball is a very intriguing sport
in that way. Okay, but what did I say about
the Mets back in April and back in May, And
you guys can go back.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
To the listen to the names, watch the videos.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I said, I don't know if as good as that
pitching Staf was playing at the time, Sanga and all
those guys at the time, I don't know if they
can sustain this.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I don't know. I still have my doubts now. Could
they make the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Sure, But at the time, the bar was well, last
year we got to LC NLCS, we were two wins
away from the World Series, right, Okay, So obviously the
next bar or the next level is getting to the
World Series. So I didn't fathom that this team, I
forget the fact that blew a big lead in the
in the National League East. And for the record, the

(05:05):
Phillies are a great team. So it's not knocking the
a Phillies for what they've done. The phenomenal team I
picked them in the division anyway before the seven started,
so them winning the division was mess of a shock.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Let's be real, I picked them in the division for
first off, Okay, the.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Mets falling apart, not only losing the NL East lead,
then they fall apart and missed the playoffs in entirety.
And this was solo hitting what forty three forty four
home runs?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
And again I'm not blaming Juan Soto whatsoever, But what
did I say back then?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I would prefer that money be better spent routing up
the team, getting pitching. I'm sorry, Koda Singer is not
eight number one guy number one. I can't say healthy starters. Okay,
he's not consistent enough. And then even when we have
to out hit teams, the Mets aren't consistent enough as

(06:02):
a hitting team to warrant that, like the Yankees. The
Yankees are in two thousand and two thousand in the yaughts,
even when they didn't go to the World Series, but
they're always going to playoffs.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The reason I got to play some years because they
were out hit.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Teams all time, so that formula could work getting to
the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Now, watching the pull season, pitching matters the Mets.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Unfortunately, their bats are up and down as good as
Soda played the summer, and Minnesota hot this summer, but
then Lindor fell apart, and then pe.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Alonzo was hit and miss at times.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
As a good year Alonso had, he still had some
spots this year where he was missing. The Into's had
a comparison to the last year, had a bad year,
so we weren't getting that timely hitting on top of
that this year, okay, And even so we still had
a big lean the wild card. There was no reason
you're meant to be sitting home, okay, missing the playoffs, okay,

(06:57):
I'll give you to the National League's I don't even
give you them losing in the first round and put
a record. Even if impimated playoffs, they had no fucking shot, honestly,
because they're not consistent enough.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
They're not Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Then it's not that the lack of urgency in this
team from this weekend, even beforehand, was concerning.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
And I told you, guys, but in August, I kept saying,
telling you guys, they.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Don't deserve it. They don't deserve to make the playoffs.
I kept saying it over and over and over again. Okay,
and then you have the reaction to the messice for
recond the mes. Announcers are Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, but
the guy named I can't cut out my head. But
three three, the three team, the three team announced group,

(07:41):
in my opinion, might mean bias here probably the best
in baseball, but uh, I don't like this. The whole
thing that they're crying after the game. Aster not crying
literally about the Marlins all of a sudden posting and
and and posing in front of the mess dugout after

(08:04):
winning the game and crying about here.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
This is this one. This really upset me. Yesterday turned
this crap. The Marlins.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
They just took a team picture in front of their
dugout like they're going to the postseason.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
This was their World Series out of three. Knock the
Mets out of the postseason. We saw the red celebrating
in Milwaukee. I don't care. Cry all you want cry more, Okay,
be critical of your team. The Mets.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
The twenty twenty five Mets were an absolute They were
an absolute fucking embarrassment. Okay, And everyone's texting me, and
everyone's talking calling me, Everyone's is talking.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
What am I gonna say?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
They they fucked up, they suck. Okay, they deserve all
the criticisms. They deserve it. And then literally, and I'm
not knocking for doing this, but literally minutes after the game,
we hear the announcement, p Alonso is going to opt
on his contract. Now, look, he's probably be back next year,

(09:06):
most likely.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
I don't know. Although when you lose like this, I
have a heart.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I have a hard time believing, Uh, Steve Cohen's gonna
want to pay that guy, even though he was really
good this year, pay that guy given how things went
this year, because clearly that money that Alonso looking for
this year.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
And for record, I want Alonso back. He's he is.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
He is actually the hard and sold this team, so
I do suffice to say that. But at the same time,
we need pitching. So now we neither addressed this now situation.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Can you afford Alonso and pitching, Yes, he can afford it.
But do you want to pay into log your text
and do that? Is it wise? Do that? Is it
smart in the financials to do that? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Will and Soto's you know, it's some of some of
the things you're reading after someone of the reactions after
it's it's just sad.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
And guess what everybody's making.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Everybody's sitting there and making fun of the Mets, and
guess what is deserved? You guys fucked up. You guys
were embarrassment. You guys are embarrassment. You guys continue to
you guys, continue to make it understandable why they are
the stemp child. You guys are trying to be the Yankees.
You're not the Yankees. And I hate the Yankees for

(10:25):
the record, Okay, but here's the reality. Even when I
take away all the twenty plus World Series they won
in their in the lifetime, just like the ones they
won since I've been alive, they won five since been alive.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Or six s tolive Okay, just still six alone. Okay,
there's a.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Level of urgency the Yankees, at least the Mets feel
like this happened to be there. They get paid, the
players get paid, and then what do nothing. I found
this clip yesterday after the game, and of all places
Barstool Sports, angry Met fan here my way, he's wearing
a he has a cut off shirt off here. But

(11:02):
this guy, you know, in so many words, expresses how
I feel about this team. And how they ended up.
Here's a little woman, it ran here.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Well, there you have it. The most the most heartless,
gutless group of fucking losers you've ever fucking seen. And
now they're gonna let Pilanza walk and let MDS walk.
And you have David Stearns who thinks that players like Frankie.

(11:35):
I guarantee you next year you're gonna see Josh Bell
and Kyle Feelin on his fucking team, because that's that's
the type of player he got. Cedric Mullins, fuck him. Yeah,
Ryan the fucking Standing, fuck him. Yeah, there's so many
players this year fucking didn't show up. Soto, you know,
Sodo good numbers, but you know, really wasn't. Didn't have

(11:58):
a great season. I don't care how close he game
to forty forty. There was not much catching him. Alonso
had A was their best player. Lindor had a decent season.
But this year, this heartless, fucking bunch of fucking losers,
this fucking heart I'm never gonna see this team win.
I'm never gonna fucking see this team win. And then

(12:21):
that's just miserable. Last year was so fun and then
they didn't build on it. In fact, they tore it
down last year is OMG. This year is what the fuck?
And what's next? Ye'ar gonna be without Pilnzo. What's next
ye'ar gonna be without end of the ays you watch,
They're gonna sign Josh fucking Bell. They're gonna sign fucking
Kyle fucking Freelin with his eighteen fucking losses. Because that's

(12:45):
what fucking David saron S does. He thinks he's smarter
than everyone else. He doesn't get anyone to fucking that's good.
He gets projects, projects don't work. What a miserable fucking season.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Here's a disagree with that guy.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
You know, I do share a lot of the sentiment
and anger towards this team.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Here's why I disagree with him here.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
I'm not putting us on the ownership group. I'm not
put us on the executive whatsoever. Although the fact they
didn't get pitching, okay, I'm not doing that.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
It's not the players.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
You have the rec you have the requisite players to win, okay, you.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Getting You have guys like lind Or getting three million.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Dollars over seven years. Oh sorry about that, over seven
hundred seven years or something like that. You have plans
making a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
DZ.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
By way, I didn't didn't realize it. Forege next year,
you gotta keep them. DS is still really good this year, okay.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Getting I don't think. I think the team they have
currently is good enough. But it's not enough, if you
know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
The core you keep Alonso, you keep Lindor, you keep
Obviously Soto's the guy, you know. Diaz pitching is the problem.
Because I could have I could accept the losing the playoffs.
Those are the Phillies, Dodgers, Calleheenia Brewers, I guess after that,
But losing and not getting to the fucking postseason, you know,

(14:16):
after the summer we had it's.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
It's it's it's asine. It's asadine how this has played out.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
So this is my last time on the Mess for
the rest of the off season, although I I I
shouted to think that.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
The rest of the week of podcasts it will come up.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I guess with someone my guests I have coming up
this week in conversations I have coming up this week.
It may come up, but I don't intend to come
of the Mess anymore. This team's forgotten. This team is
the bat Burner. I don't want to hear about anymore.
The next time I want to hear the message Joe
Winter meetings. What we're doing with Alonzo is dz bat.
Next year I'll beginning pitching. That's all I care about. Otherwise,

(14:59):
the New York Mets fun, find Your's go fuck themselves, honestly,
So that's for me. By the way, I hope you
guys enjoyed the first installment of e J Loves the
Loves of the Internet that came out today.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
