(00:17):
Hello, all you friendly Force usersout there, and welcome to another episode
of Echo Station Podcast. I'm Ianand happy International Women's Day. I'm joined
by my favorite woman ever, Sorrymom my co host Chris Hi. Everybody,
Happy International Women's Day. Isn't thatrough? We're just saying, sorry,

(00:38):
mom, getting fucked. Here's myco host that I like better.
Oh no, it's okay. Shouldn'tlisten to this? Um, that's fair.
It's called let's call it Galactic Women'sDay, Galactic Women's Day, Galactic
Women's Day. Yesterday is International Women'sDay, March eighth. We are recording
this today. Uh, really everyday should be International Women's Day. But

(01:03):
yeah, I'm really stoked that thisis finally caught on in the US because
women's say has been like a reallybig deal in um Europe, especially Western
Europe for a really for a prettylong time. And I don't know,
like every I remember for so long. I would I would text my friends
and be like, happy Women's Day, and they would be like, what,
okay, thanks right, like thankyou for letting us know that.

(01:29):
Yeah the thing, guys, comeon, it's a thing. Uh yeah,
it's it's I'm very happy that itis now a big thing in the
US. So in honor of that, Chris and I we were going to
do originally a double feature character spotlighton ale Sakia and shock Tea. But

(01:49):
we realize that if we go throughthe Cannon stuff for both of them,
it wouldn't take up a whole hour. Really, you take up maybe thirty
minutes at most, not much tosay. Yeah, the legend stuff,
there's so much to go off offor these two characters, but we're going
sh districtly with Cannon. Yeah.Nothing. Yeah, And I assume as
time goes on and the current Idon't know, you know, the current

(02:13):
Disney held runs comics and whatnot gothere, there will be more. I'm
sure that they'll hopefully and do somethingwith them, because they're they're very interesting
characters. Even just what is canonicalright now is very interesting. Yes,
But so we're like, well, what do can we do? Ah haha?
It's International Women's Day, so we'regoing to be talking about our favorite

(02:34):
gals in the galaxy. Galaxy gals. I promise it won would just be
another episode of a fan girling overLaya. No, it's not gonna be
a fan episode of Laya venturess orAhsoka. It's gonna be a fan episode
of all one at all but alot of the women in Star Wars.
But before we do that, wedo have a bit of news, not

(02:57):
necessarily Star Wars news that's been outand about the world, but some personal
news for the station, and thatis that starting next month, which is
what is this month? March?March? Yeah, so starting April.
Uh well, I guess actually technicallystarting after this episode, right, yeah,
technically starting in March ish April,we're going to be going to one

(03:22):
episode a month instead of bi weekly. It's going to be it's a lot
easier for both of us recording wise. You know, strenuous stuff has been
happening and so which is have alot going on, you know, behind
the scenes, and it's just it'shard to really pin down a time to
do this every couple of weeks. And honestly, there's not a lot to

(03:45):
talk about right now either, correct. Yeah, and now May the fourth
hits. I'm sure there's gonna bea lot of stuff and you know,
towards December and all that stuff, but right now it's it's the best for
us. Um. Now that beingsaid, we do have too mini series
still. We have the season threeand finale of Padme's Closet, and then

(04:05):
we have presumably the Book of bobothFet in December, and that's at least
of still slated for that to becoming out. Those two mini series will
still be multiple episodes because we cannotcram Padme's outfits and a win to one
long episode. It would not bethe justice. We can't do justice to
those outfits that way. It's notnot fun. So those two series will

(04:27):
still be U there, traditional miniseries of multiple episodes, YadA, YadA,
YadA. Um. We still planon getting a you know, a
couple of guests on. We're stillworking on that. Uh So, like
when we get a guest on,we might do another episode the week after
that, just because you know,uh uh, we don't want to be

(04:47):
necessarily take up a whole month slot. But just one guest, we can
do you know, another mini episodeafter that or something like that. But
um my cast chasing her tail. She's on the bed and she's acting stupid.
I'm just watching and she's stupid anyway, sorry, uh so that's gonna
be happening, like I said, starting after this episode. Uh pad Ma's

(05:09):
Closet should be coming back hopefully midMay ish early May. We'll see um
and then obviously a book a boaFette will be still hopefully fingers crossed December.
We don't know. Yeah, Ithink happens means and when you talk
about it, obviously you know there'sthe Bad Batch coming out too. We'll
be talking about that. I mean, not do a full series on those

(05:31):
review episodes, but we'll definitely betalking about it when it comes out.
We'll talk about it. Yeah, yeah, Um, So we're gonna take
a quick little break, uh,and then we'll come back and we're gonna
talk. We're gonna gonna shoot theshit about women in the galaxy. Yeah,
we're gonna do that. All right, we're back and we're back.

(05:55):
Hello everyone. Uh, if youhear us light humming in the back around,
it's not a bomb, don't worry. Uh yeah, at least I
hope it's not a bomb. Notyet. Uh. Yeah, it's my
laundry. Sorry, I record inthe basement. My laundry in the basement,
and I gotta I gotta laundry.Yes, she has, she has
a family of laundry to do,so yeah, yeah, apologies ahead of

(06:20):
time, but yeah, um,so let's just shoot the ship. Yes,
yeah, so yeah, you gofirst. I think I think this
topic works so well with Star Warsbecause for a lot of women, I
think Star Wars was like a gatewaydrug, yes, into science fiction,

(06:47):
because it did have a strong femalecharacter who wasn't just arm candy and wasn't
dumb, you know, it wasn'tlike some damn little in distress. I
mean, you know, even thoughobviously the series starts with we got to
go rescue the princess, it's obviouslythe princess can take care of her her

(07:08):
own ship self princess. Yeah.So I think that just off the bat
lays contribution to to womanhood and tofeminism is just it's just massive. So
you know, of course she willalways be one of my favorite She's kind
of the og in that sense becausefor her, I don't remember many self

(07:31):
rescuing princesses who would just say fuckoff, men, let me do it
my damn self. Yeah, thereweren't that many. There weren't that many,
but not too yeah, not toouh. I mean, not to
crap too much on sci fi,but it's not exactly a haven for women.
No, uh so yeah, definitely, she's I mean, we cannot

(07:54):
have this day and not mention herjust to you know, we can't.
Yeah, and then from that, you know, so so starting off that,
you know, getting me into intoStar Wars, Um, I mean,
obviously Star Trek has really strong women. That's a that's a big deal
with too. Um, but it'snot everybody's cup. It's not everybody's cup

(08:16):
of tea. No, it's myit's awesome, my cup of tea,
but it's not everybody's cup of tea. Like yeah, um, so from
Leia of course, So I youknow, loved Leia, really really got
into the story. And then therewere no more movies. So then I

(08:37):
moved on to the books and reallyearly on, I think I was like
nine, I found the um Heirto the Empire trilogy, but Timothy's on
and of course that introduced me tomy life long love of Mara Jade.
And Mara Jade is of course anincredibly dynamic, um awesome character who has

(09:01):
a lot of depth, Um,who has you know, a very interesting
character arc throughout well you're out thattrilogy itself, but you know, like
as she was used by other authors, you know, going down the line,
just going from this hyper trained assassinalmost like a you know, like
a puppet of the Emperor, toto being a pivotal Jedi and you know,

(09:30):
a pivotal person in the reconstruction ofthe Jedi and the Republic and whatnot.
It's just it's a really interesting arcand the pic that she was also
a really strong character, um butbut broken in many ways, kind of
really latched onto that. Yeah. And I mean she she was created as

(09:54):
a villain first, yes, andthen became you know, the wife of
Luke Skywalker and then redeemer of someand Yeah, she was a fun character.
I really do wish they'd bring herinto the Cannon in some fold.
I really do like she's there's somuch to play with with that character.
Yeah, I think it's just it'shard because of the direction they've already gone
in. Um. But you know, we don't we don't really get a

(10:18):
tremendous amount of background on what happenedto Luke between Return of the Jedi,
and that's thirty years of yeah andthe sequel trilogy, so there's no you
know, there's no way for usto know that he wasn't married, or
that he didn't have a special personand that you know, that special person

(10:43):
absolutely could have been part of hisacademy, his his training thing, and
could have been killed by Kylo.I mean that would make sense for him.
Excuse me, beep beep, it'sa bomb bomb duck duck. That
would that would it makes sense forhim, you know, completely wanting to
go off the grid between feeling likehe betrayed his family and then that leading

(11:09):
to him losing two people he lovedbasically right and blaming himself for that.
Yeah, I don't know, andhe just may not have wanted to talk
about that. So there's there's ways, there's absolutely ways that they can canonize
that per se without question. Yeahuh yeah. So you know, the

(11:35):
Galaxy Star Wars is actually full ofa lot of strong women, and I
really have to give it up toDisney and Kathleen Kennedy for bringing more female
characters, more female voices into StarWars, because without it, it was

(11:56):
just Leiah and pad Me who basicallyhas speaking line and yeah in it.
And you know, with Kathleen Kennedyin charge and Disney, you've gotten Ray,
You've gotten Rose, You've gotten uh, you know all these characters in
seven eight and ninety katkol conics, you've gotten uh uh Vice Admiral Laura Dern

(12:22):
um Vice Admiral Hole though, thankyou, Laura Dern, Vice Admiral Laura
Dern Laura pew Pu turn yes.Um. So, you know, and
there's a bunch more osy that weknow we're kind of glossing over, but

(12:43):
there's a lot in seven eight andnine that deserve our praise. Um one.
I mean, let's let's talk aboutRay for a second. I know
everybody likes to crap on Ray forsome reason. She's well, we know
why. But I love Ray raysfantastic. I love her look. I
love that, you know, it'snot I don't know, she's got a

(13:07):
practical, interesting look, it's subdued. I love her. I love her
youth and her you know, herhopefulness. M she really is a female
with Skywalker. Yeah, so it'shard not to love her. It's fair.
Uh. Yeah, she has ayou know, her sense of adventure
and her sense of morality. Andyou know she's also very naive though too.

(13:31):
Yeah, well, and that makessense. She's very young. Yeah.
Uh you know you you and Iboth did stupid shit when we were
young and didn't trusted a whole lotof people that we probably shouldn't well,
and we were also not so notsheltered, but we were not so kept
from society as she wasn't mean, like, she just lives in this tiny,

(13:52):
little awful bubble that is her life. Of course she's gonna be naive.
Yeah. Um, And you knowshe's not a merry Sue. That's
just no, I don't. Ihate that. I hate the term mary
Sue. I know, the wholething behind in mary Sue, because a
merry Sue is just a lead femalecharacter that's written like a male female character.

(14:16):
Yeah, or male character, malelead character. Hey, hold on,
real lead character. There we go. Yeah, that's it. I
got there, I got there.I got there a grim minute. But
she's there, folks. Yeah, that's that's all it is. Yeah,
and it's it's just the whole concept. But she's her own she's her own
thing. And so I hate whenshe's called Mary Sue because it's very much

(14:39):
not that. Yeah, if she'sa merry Sue, then Luke Skywalker is
a merry Sue. Yeah. Um, you know. And I can see
how people maybe didn't like her atfirst, but I kind of thought the
last Jedi redeemed her. Yeah,I liked her. It's not the it's
not the best story, but directionnine stories was very muddled, like especially

(15:05):
with episode nine. We just actuallytweeted on our Twitter, by the way,
follow us at Echostation cast of likefive issues so far comic that someone
has drawn based off of the storyand storyboards of the original episode nine,
what could have been? What couldhave been? And it's so cool.
And I just now hate the Riseof Skywalker after really and I know I

(15:30):
would never say that, but damnit that Yeah, well, I mean,
look, I enjoyed watching I enjoyedwatching The Rise of Skywalker like I
had fun. I had fun withit. But the longer time goes on,
the more I watched the sequel trilogy, the more annoyed and angry I
get of what could have been andwhat wasn't. It's just, yeah,

(15:54):
so frustrating. And a big partof that is that, you know,
we didn't get a lot of reallyreally fleshed out female characters that we were
given. We were giving really goodbasses with Holdo, with Ray, with
Rose, with Jana. You knowthat there could have been so much more

(16:14):
that we could have been scored theSigneline Rose, and they gave basically all
her lines to Dominic. Uh wina hand. Uh No, not hand.
That's a different guy. It's atotally different guy. That would have
been so funny. I think Ihave a symnature up on this card.
Hang on, you do, That'sright, I do. I just got

(16:34):
I opened a box of symmetric cardsand I popped his, so missing says,
hang up. It's similar to themorning Notice Dominic. Uh mine again.
Yeah, it's not Moyna hand though, it's not win a hand.
That's a different actor. Yeah, mon again Mary from Lord of the Yeah,

(16:56):
the Hobbit guy guy. Uh.They basically basically they did. They
gave all of Rose's stuff to himbecause he's friends with JJ Abrams and you
know, put him in the movie. And that's how it works in the
Hollywood dick club. Yes, andso Rose had some really cool stuff to
do and they just give it allto him. And I'm like, but
Rose, I know, and Ilike him, like all right two,

(17:19):
And we're not dogging on him. It's just why not just give him to
give him his own thing? Yeah, give him his own thing instead of
taking it away from Rose. Right. Um. Another character we should mention
that was in the sequel trilogy isFAsMA. Oh god, yes, oh
my god, I completely forgot,as most of the people right because forgettable,

(17:45):
completely forgettable. I mean, it'ssuch a great build up to this
really interesting character. And they're like, well, you can go read the
book. Don't don't don't do that. I know it. Yeah, don't
do that. Don't make goodness.Oh, by the way, you do
want to hear more from Calgary transum Riyah and Last Dragon, for which

(18:12):
she is the principal voice actress.Such a good It's now out on Disney
Plus and it is beautiful. Itis worth thirty bucks, like Mulan was
not worth the thirty dollars. Worththirty dollars. Yeah, I really enjoyed
it, and I wanted I wantedto support that they're showing more movies like

(18:33):
this, that they're focusing more onrepresentative, representative movies. It's it's just
it's really nice, it's beautiful,it's got a good story, and Alcumpinus
into an Acuopinus Aquapina his hilarious init. Yeah, all of the voice
acting is is really on points foruh play in there. Um it's a
great Yeah, great movie, gogo watch it. Um. But yeah,

(18:55):
so Phasma again, such a coolcharacter and she is literally Baufette of
the sequel trilogy, although she gotto do more than Bafette did, let's
be honest. Yeah, but whatshe did like didn't help, No,
it didn't. It just looked coolto doing it. Yeah, she was
very underutilized. I was so upsetthat they you know, what they did

(19:18):
to her and they killed her offand eight. They could have easily kept
her alive for episode nine, whichthat was the original plan. She was
supposed to be alive, but theysaid nope. Uh. Yeah. She's
a really cool character, and Ihope we get to see something like with
her backstory or something. I mean, there's not a whole lot you can
do with her. There is whatthere isn't. At the same time,

(19:38):
it's like I feel like, ifwe get another if we get another series
like the Clone Wars, but forum like the Building the Republic and the
Rise of the First Order. Insteadwe did it's called Star Wars Resistance,
and it was horrible. We don'ttalk about Start Wars Assistance and when she

(19:59):
was in there too, by theway, But it was just it was
not a good show, was she? Oh God, Dan Geling QUESTI Christy
Voister in the first season because Ididn't even watch the whole first season because
it was that bad. I literallyonly watched the episodes with her in an
empo. I watched like three episodesand then noped out. Yeah, it
just it annoyed me so much. It's fair. Okay, yeah, so

(20:19):
that doesn't count. So again, let reiterate, Let me reiterate. If
we get a Clone Wars like series. Okay, there we go. I
see what you did. Then Isee who did we get a Rebels version
of Resistance. Yeah, I'll eventake Yeah, a Rebels version of Resistance,
I'll take it. But no outof that Clone Wars, but I'll

(20:42):
take Rebels. Yeah. Uh yeah, it's she was, like I said,
a fun character, and she gota really cool duel with Finn.
But again, so wasted. Yeah, totally wasted. Wasted. Um,
and I mean we're missing we're missingtalking about a big character, which is
pad May. Yeah, well wejust haven't gotten to her. Okay,

(21:03):
that's about. Yeah, Padme's greatbecause once again shell. She comes in
as a very well she's written, she's written great, and I think that
there were issues well with the lastmovie. It's where I always find those
issues. I find issues when heconfesses to slaughtering women and children and men
and she goes, I want tojust fuck you right now. Yeah.

(21:26):
So my head canon, my headcannon is that he was forced tricking her
stock, that he was like somethere was like some mine force fuckery rapidge
going on here, stop it,because she is a smart woman. She

(21:48):
is so clever, not a realgood taste in men, but but politics
great terrible tasted man, and youknow what? And also okay, so
that that really does humanize her,and that really does make her relatable because
a lot of us, Present Companyincluded, have terrible taste in man.

(22:10):
Hi, hello it's us where thepresent Company included just just abysmal taste in
man sometimes yeah, who knows itwell? But you know, we make
great decisions in other realms of ourlife. Yes, And this is Padmet.
Padmet has great a her job, she's good with people. She loses

(22:33):
her mind for the dick. Yeah, this is what happens. This is
for the spacetic why it was thatparticular space, Dick, I don't know
when one was right there, Idon't know, all right, Yeah,
she's another great character in Star Wars. Uh, she really you know,

(23:00):
I think actually when you watch episodethree, she's the only female character to
have any lines in the whole movie. Yeah, it should be others,
but she's the only one because Georgecould out the rest of the scenes.
Yeah. There there are some veryquestionable decisions that George made as a director
when it comes to women, andone day I would love to personally ask
him about those. Oh God,not in a bad way, not in

(23:23):
about it, just feel like, what's up? What's up? Why?
Why? Um? And with actuallywith the Clone Wars, with episode two
and three, we got a lotof female characters from the Clone Wars that
we really love. Yes, soagain the Clone Wars shines and is you

(23:45):
know, just exemplary about everything, because yeah, not only did it,
not only did it introduce new characters, new very strong female characters, it
gave depth to a lot of preexisting characters that had been brought up in
the prequels, including pad May correctbut a lot, a lot for which

(24:12):
we mentioned at the beginning of theshow. For for Ala and for shock
T. Yes, and shocked Tare two big players in the Clone Wars.
Yeah, and they had some greatepisodes that was you know, based
around them. Yes, and theirdesigns are cool. I mean the Twilight
beautiful. You don't really see Twilight'sas jedis, you don't. Yeah,
it's a rarity. And you know, shock T was the first to Grutta

(24:33):
we saw in episode two, andthen of course comes Asoka, Yeah,
which is another female favorite. It'sI think I think that it was a
really good representation for her species.Yeah, it shows that, you know,
you don't have to be a slaveand dick to Yeah apparently, yeah
you're not. Just No, youdon't just have to be arm panty.

(24:56):
But I also like the idea thatyou know, she doesn't dress like a
typical Jedi. No, yeah, she's like, this is how my this
is what my people wear, thisis my culture, this is what we
do. This is my culture. And I want a nod to that because
the same thing, you know, and like Luminara embarrass they you know,
very much dressed in their culture intheir robes, which I do like the
George gave each Jedi kind of atleast in that sense their own look like

(25:21):
they weren't just the two Nicks thatyou know, makes Obi Wan Yoda and
all the war. Which it's interestingthat the men tend to be generic looking
clothing wise, Jedi looking, butthe women all seem to nod to whatever
culture they come from. And Ireally like that, which I'm not opposed
to that. Yeah, that's fine. No, I think it's pretty cool.
But yeah, two other characters reallybig. They came from the Clone

(25:44):
Wars, one being Asoka Tano,Yes, which is obviously, you know,
an entire force to herself. She'sarguably more popular than like Ray for
example. Oh no, she absolutelyis. With kids, I think raised
a little more popular, but likewith you know, teens and adults,
Ahsoka takes the cake with that one. I see. I would argue that

(26:07):
it is more popular kids. See. I think adults though, kind of
more gravitate towards her because of herjourney, that she's been through m and
that she's a survivor and that youknow, well, I know my own
kids are a Soca fans. Yeah, I mean, I think she she
was nates on both the scales, but I think a little more personally she's
just she's she's colorful, and she'sinteresting and she has a really cool arc.

(26:33):
Yes, she has many many arcs, um and she crosses blades quite
a few times with another fan favorite, which is a sage interest. Yes,
tat villain. We promised this wouldnot be like just us talking about
vents a lot, but we haveto talk about and sorry, but yeah,
another another very dynamic, well writtencharacter you know who has obvious flaws,

(26:59):
you know, just being initially avillain, but right, um it's
redeemable, you know, and hascharacter depth and has you know, you
know, her own her own moralcompass, her own moral code that makes
sense towards the end of life.Yeah. Uh, yeah, she's She's
another great, great, great characterthat I wish we would get more of.

(27:22):
We're not going to, I don'tthink, but I wish we would
get more of. Yeah. Uh. And like we mentioned that Luminara baris
shock ti Alam. I love thatAila has like a French accent in the
Clone Wars. Oh. I lovethat the Twilights have French accents. That
always cracks me up, and shedoes it very The voice actress who Jennifer
Hale. She if you if yougoogle her her IMD page is literally like

(27:47):
I think five pages long. Ohwow. Yeah, she's been in everything
that you can think of. Um, but yeah, under Dave's instructions,
that was, you know what theywanted to Twilix like, because she never
had any speaking lines in episode three. No, she didn't, and I
think, I mean we only geta little bit from Ula, yeah,

(28:07):
which is in her teeth, soyou don't get to hear anything. Yeah.
So you know it's the Mandalorian ones, don't. I mean they obviously
they hit a lot of lines, but they're just no correct. But another
Twilight we need to bring up aswell is Harrah. Yes, Harris Sabine.

(28:29):
Those two in Rebels were great, great, great fleshed out characters.
Harrah is alternate space mom. Yeah, Harrah and Leah are space mombs.
She she's a fun, fun character. She's she's no nonsense. I love
she takes no shit. But she'salso very nurturing and very compassionate. Yes,
she is very much like Lay inthat sense. One of my favorite

(28:53):
interactions with her, like kind ofjust want off interactions with her is one
of the early episodes of Rebels withwith Lando. Yes, it's just such
a it's just such a great episode. She's so just like cringing at his
charm and she's like, uh huhsure, yep, she's fun. Um.
Also, two other characters we haveto mention from the Clone Wars that

(29:17):
well, one from the Clone Warsthat made her way in Turribles as well
is Bokaton. Yes, well we'vegot we've got three iterations. Yes we
have. We have Clone Wars,we have Rebels, and we have Mando,
and they're all the same, butthey're all a little different too.
Like during the Clone Wars, she'svery much in the first you know,

(29:38):
a few arcs we see her,and she's very much with Death Watch,
very much in that terrorist group. She's very much you know, kill or
be killed. She's young, sheis she's very young. And then she
evolves. Yeah, I mean, and you can you can understand why with
everything that I was on her planet, with her sister being murdered, yes,

(30:00):
yeah. And then yeah, Rebelsis her trying to take back Mandaloria,
trying to take it back for thepeople, very much kind of a
Mandalorian freedom fighter if you will.Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um. And then Mando she's ona mission to claim something to bring Mando

(30:22):
Mandalorian Mandalori piece excuse me again. So she's a fun character. Another kind
of fun character that we've only seenin one one iteration, but we've only
seen in one movie is jenn Ursooh yeah, right, and it sucks

(30:47):
because she gets blown away. Butgod, that movie will never not break
my heart. Like it's it's theStar Wars Suicide Squad. It is,
it really is. And I knewlike halfway through the movie it was like,
none of these people are gonna live. See. I didn't think that.
I thought that they're just gonna gooff and do other rebellious things.
I'm like, no, I waslike, no, it doesn't. I

(31:07):
was like, it doesn't make sense. For got it. I was like,
Okay, no one's going out herea lot. No, everybody's gonna
die. Yeah, and that it'ssuch a fascinating dynamic for a movie to
have all of your lead heroes die. Yeah, no one survives. Literally
it works. It's so effective,but it's it's a Star Wars movie,

(31:32):
but it is such a fantastic warmovie. Yeah, I love it.
She's great in it. And thennot we also get she was in episode
three, but her scenes got deleted. We get mon Mathma. Yes she
our friend Lydia hartwell, uh,costplaces mon Mathma beautifully. Might I have
fantastic mon Matha. Uh but she'sand she went back for the indoor series

(31:56):
as well. I love I lovethat she is is a powerful writer.
Well that too, but that sheis very she has this very calming presence.
She does and I don't And itcould be also because of her voice
mixed with she wears like only white. Yeah, but yeah, I really

(32:19):
like mon Mathman and the Legends stuff. Mon Mathman plays a huge role in
the New Problem. She becomes chancellor. Yeah, she's super, she's super
influential and especially on Leia's career. But then in Cannon she is as well.
Um, in Cannon, mon Mathmais really what pulls Leiah into the
rebellion. She's kind of like hergo to person before before Leia's parents even

(32:45):
know that she's really in on this. Um, there's some great there's some
great writing by Claudia Gray. Um. Fantastic mon Mathma's character and I really
enjoyed reading that. What you don'texpect a character like that to have like
much to do, But I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, I
know, she's just I mean sheshe was the driving force of the rebellion.

(33:06):
Absolutely. Um. We also,uh we talked about someone like the
B side characters as well, bein C side characters because well we talked
about Bokatan, but we didn't reallytalk about Sin. Yeah. She is
the you know, the duchess. She's leading people, and she's very much
like Padme. Yes, she's verypolitically passionate. Um excuse um. I

(33:29):
think it's interesting that she goes youknow, she she bucks tradition of her
of her people, like she's she'svery much about Mandalorian, about Mandalorian pride,
but at the same time, likeshe's a pacifist um, you know,
and believes in being able to dothings peacefully and talk things out and

(33:49):
you know, in a different wayfrom Mandalori to b Um. I also
like that it really brought more depthto Obi Won by having their relationship be
a thing. They totally did this. This is the real reason why Oi
Want was an interested bathe Yeah, because he had some little blonde on the
side. There you go. No, yeah, I I like Setine again

(34:15):
our friend Lydia heartwell beautifully again, might I add um yeah, she she
kind of embodies Setine. Just I'mvery jealous that you can one pull off
that outfit because it's a really weirdand heart outfit. It is a very
bizarre outfit, but it looks great. Yeah. Um, but yeah,

(34:36):
So there's some like B and Cside characters. You have or A Sing.
You have Zambo looking gosh, youhave sized noodles. Oh yeah,
you have Ula, you have lendMe, you have Ristall Greata, you
have your Rosa sister who's zam.I'm forgetting Paige Page. I can remember

(34:59):
Page. I couldn't remember Laura Dern'scharacter Jesus Christ. Yeah, good job
there, right. Uh, youhave a lot of you know, B
and C side characters who wind upgetting a lot to do in either comics
or you know, whatever it maybe, but not necessarily so much in
the movies. Like or Sing hadfive seconds of screen time if that in

(35:22):
episode one and she blew up.Yeah, and people, but people loved
her because she was just this bizarrelystriking character. Yeah. She was like
in a bright orange jump suit,a high ponytail, sniper on her back,
and bald, like oh my gosh, like pale is all hell and
super tall, and yeah, it'sreally funny. That's what you can do.

(35:42):
You can do or saying, youknow, if you use anybody paint
everybody who has always told me Ishould do or sing and just and what
I would do is I would justget like I would just get a ball
cap and I would put out ahole and just put my ponytail through it.
Basically. Yeah, for those whodon't know, Chris is like a
extremely pale, like literally I'm lookingat her on zoom right now and it

(36:02):
is just white. It's just blindingwhite, like Gandalf the White showing with
the first time white. I mean, it doesn't help that my my my
UM camera is ancient, and soI'm pretty much just like eyeballs in my
mouth. It's very fun, likeit's always fun to using with her because

(36:23):
it's just like that I tried tobuy another webcam, okay, but the
pandemic happened and then everybody bought awebcam and there were no more webcams.
That's fine, it's it's fair.Um, I'm trying. Like, there's
a lot of female characters Star Wars, and I should have gotten the My
Women of Star Wars book that Ihave, which is fantastic. By way,
if you don't have that, gopick it up. Well, I'm

(36:44):
not even like touching on Legends stuff. There was oh no, so much
to say for you know, andthey're like, I still I will always
miss Jana and the various the variousJedi Academy characters because they were all fun
and they had very prominent roles. They're fun. Every single person that Luke

(37:05):
Skywalker ever hooked up with and thenwas tragically murdered. Yeah, because that
was the way of Legends. There'sDarth Talon from Legends, Bastilla Shaw,
Seana Shaw, Yeah, from theOld Republic. Yeah, yellow, yellow
bell looking Jedi, which I don'tknow if she's Cannon because no either,

(37:30):
because that's so old. I know, I don't know who. Also,
by the way, she's voiced bythe same actress who does ALA's voice.
Oh interesting, Yeah, I'm tellingyou, Jennifer Hill has done everything.
Google this person because I probably knowwho she is. Oh you know who
she is. As soon as youlisten to like voice clips and audi clips,
you're like, oh, I knowthis is um, but Jennifer Hill

(37:51):
or hale hale h ellie, likeyou said, Canadian American. Literally,
oh yeah, okay, now Itotally know who she is. Literally take
two seconds, yep, there wego. Yep. Uh. But um
yeah. I just love the womenof Star Wars, and I wish there

(38:15):
was more. I wish that wewould get a lot more. I know,
with Patty Jenkins doing a Star Warsmovie that we should hopefully get some
great, really cool female pilots. That'll be really cool. I think it's
gonna be that's good. Yeah, that's gonna be awesome. And speaking of
female um, i'den Verseo from Battlefront. Oh and her daughter, Yeah,

(38:37):
yeah, a little, i'dan Verseo. I don't remember daughter's name. I'm
blanking z zeb is it? Ithink so? I feel like it is
hold on zeb. It's like, yeah, I oh, zeus listening.
My computer is listening to me.It is zay Z's it's z It's za

(39:00):
Okay. I'm like, zeb ison Rebels. He's not, No,
it's I know, it's a za Z thing. Yeah okay, so
zay Yeah, I'm like, yeah, that's not right. Yeah. They
and Iiden are really cool characters. They are. They're very fun, and
I would desperately love to see eitheror both of them in a live action

(39:20):
or continuing in the games. Imean, obviously not Iden because she's dead,
but I guess I could do Iden, like during the years in between,
they could definitely do that. Nevermind. Yeah, No, there's
like a huge time down thing.Yeah, there's plenty of time for a
rebel um. But yeah, there'sa whole lot of female characters in Star
Wars that obviously we didn't get totouch on, but we did talk about

(39:40):
a good plenty. Um. Sodo you have like a number one favorite
that isn't like a main main character. M h oh, that's a good
question. H go. Everybody Ikeep thinking of is like it's like a

(40:01):
main character. Um, maybe Shaktyjust because she's I like her voice,
but just she's very she's so she'sso powerful, but in a very like,
even keeled way. Yeah. PlusI like the fact that she she

(40:22):
basically almost completely stopped all of itOrder sixty six from happening, like like
she was just like this close, yes, close, super close, just
right just on the tip of yourtongue right there, Like she knew something
was up. She told me somethingwas up, and then yeah and it
missed. Yeah. Um, doyou do you consider Ahsoka a main character?

(40:47):
Yeah. I wasn't gonna say venturousbecause I consider her a main character
as I sounds hard. Yeah,um so, if I had to pick
one, let's see, that istricky, very very twicky. I really

(41:07):
like Aura because in the Clone Warsand the comics she does some really cool
stuff. And in the Legends shewas a former Jedi. Yeah, she
was badass in Legends and they totallykneecapped her. Yeah. She's just a
bloodthirsty bounty hunter and she collects lightsof head trophies much like Grievous did.

(41:30):
And so I really liked her.She was so fun, she was cool.
Yeah, I can see that.Yeah. Um So that about wraps
