You're listening to the Heroes Podcast Network. Hello all you friendly Force users out
(00:22):
there, and welcome to the firstepisode of Echo Station podcast of twenty twenty
one. We are back. Whoare We did not get canceled, so
happy I am joined. Yeah,I'm joined by my lovely co host Chris,
and we're happy to be back.Yeah. It's been a it's been
(00:47):
a winter. It's been like whathappened since our last episode? Yeah,
I don't know. And as muchas I love doing this, we needed
a break. Yeah. There's justalways so much going on. It's nice
to it's nice to have a littlebit of a break. Yeah, And
so we took our break. Howwas the rest of your twenty twenty and
(01:11):
beginning of twenty twenty one. Um, gosh, it's been it's been.
It's been fine. It's been good. I got some cool stuff for Christmas.
I got a switch finally. I'mlike, you know, behind the
rest of the world on that, but I have yet to get one still.
So it's okay. It's like thebest thing I've ever got. It's
(01:32):
so great. I love it becauseI never I was never really able to
play much games anymore because I eitherhad to go in the basement or you
know, like take over the maintelevision y xbox, and it's just finding
time to do that, you know. It's like I'd have to sit down
(01:53):
and actually play at a time out. But now, you know, if
I've got fifteen twenty minutes of downtime, I can just grab my switch and
play it on my switch, orif TV's free, I can hook it
up to the TV like you know, instantaneously, but I don't have to.
So it's amazing. It's the bestof both worlds for handheld gaming and
(02:16):
larger platform baming. So yeah,I'm still but like, also, I
really want to get a PS fivestill, So yeah, I wish I
had PS five, but that's mything. I'm still trying to hound a
PS five, but it's it's veryhard to come by, Yes it is.
I'd like that you can take itwith you, you know. Um,
(02:38):
and I think that we will bedoing a lot more driving if we
plan on going anywhere for the foreseeablefuture, so it's nice to be able
to take it with me. I'mpretty stricked about that. Let's see what
else is? What else have Idone? Um? Working on some costplay
stuff, doing a lot of embroiderylately, which is always tedious but really
(03:05):
fun and looks good. Oh,we're going on some new Star Wars cosplays
that are gonna be amazing. Youguys are gonna be super stroked to see
once they're done. And do youwant to tease what they are? Maybe?
Perhaps? Um? Okay, yeah, I can give it a loose
tease. It is a mashup. It's a Disney Star Wars mashup, and
(03:31):
that's it. That's all I'm gonnatease. Is the same one that I'm
a part of? R Is thisa different one? Yeah, it's the
same one you're a part of.Okay, I don't know you were doing
a completely different one too. Yeahyeah, no, no, no,
no, it's the same one you'rea part of. Okay, Yes,
hopefully we'll be getting some shots ofthat in late March. I don't know,
(03:54):
we'll see, but I think aboutthat. Yeah, but you will
be eventually. We'll get we'll getwe'll get there. We'll get there,
I will say, is not somethingthat has been done before. It's a
totally original mashup. So we arepretty excited. I was trying to think
back, was it my idea forthis or was it someone else's. Oh
(04:15):
no, no, it wasn't youridea. Sorry, I can't remember well,
because I was talking about the thingand then our friend Luna was doing
concept designs for me. I don'tremember who brought it up first. Um,
I don't know. We've talked aboutthis on and off for a few
years loosely, and then like decidedto commit to it because of celebration.
(04:39):
So because y'all saw me in mineand you're like, we want to do
that too, Yes, it's allIan. It was all because of Ian.
Yeah, I'm the catalyst. Soit's okay. Ian is the catalyst
exactly. Yep, yeah, mytwenty twenty. Let me see what else
did I do? Um? Literally, I don't remember like what I did
(05:01):
because I just wanted to blank itall out because because nobody's doing anything.
Yeah, Yo, Like, okay, things got a little too real.
We had a freaking insurrection on ourgovernment. Yes, that did happen.
Stuff happened, so yeah, I'vebeen kind of trying to blank stuff out
(05:23):
too. A lot happened, andyet nothing happened exactly. The summary of
the last year and a half ofour lives. Yeah, Christmas was fine
for me. I got some goodstuff, some clothes and gift cards.
Uh, you know, just someessential stuff that I needed. Yep,
(05:46):
and then bought some new Star Warscards. Uh yeah those are those are
really awesome. Yeah. I've beensending Chris pictures of all the artwork that
people are drawing for me and someof the autographs that I've pulled and Twitter.
He's actually posted a few of thoseon there. Yes, yeah,
(06:08):
don't forget. If you're not followingour Twitter yet at Echo Station cast on
the twitters, do that give usa follow? Oh, which means I
would like to also shout out wewill have an Instagram account soon as well,
so we can start posting more picturesand just have another wave connecting with
you guys don't have I don't haveany account set up yet, but I
(06:32):
will in the next couple of daysand I will shout that out on Twitter.
All right, look forward that we'rebusting out into the other social media
as we may have a Facebook page, we may not. It just depends.
Let us know. Tweet at usif you guys would want us to
do a Facebook page as well,or if you're good with us, just
(06:53):
being on Twitter and Instagram for yourupdates and episode releases and all that stuff,
because I mean Facebook basically the samething as Twitter, but just on
Facebook. So yeah, I mean, I know a lot of people are
moving away from Facebook. I haven'tbeen on Facebook and like a decade,
so yeah, let us know.If it's not something you guys are interested
(07:15):
in, we'll just stick with Instagramand Twitter. Yes, so either or
um. But so enough about us. Let's talk some Star Wars news,
yes, shall we? So somestuff happened between twenty and twenty and now
we have an official release date forwell I guess you started with. We
(07:39):
have an official the days for acelebration of twenty twenty two has been announced.
Yes, it will be from thesee it's going to be the summer
of twenty twenty two, August eighteento the twenty first, So there's that.
Hopefully everyone's avasite, everyone's healthy bythen, and we'll have fun and
(08:00):
be able to hug everyone again andall that stuff. So fingers crossed for
that. I already had my ticketsforwarded so oh to next year, technically
going yeah, I'm in the sameboat as yeah, so I'll just we'll
see how far we get to thatpoint. We have found out that Star
(08:22):
Wars The Bad Batch is going tobe releasing Spring of twenty twenty one on
Disney Plus. YEA, so that'ssomething to look forward to after the Long
Winter. Yes, which, bythe way, right now on Disney Plus
is one Division, And if youguys have not seen one Division yet,
you need to watch it immediately, because oh my god, it is good
if you're if you're an MCU fan, if you're a deep comic booklore fan,
(08:46):
it combines the best of those.Yes, uh, and so I
really like that. I also reallywant to see now Elizabeth Olson in a
Star Wars movie or show. Shewould I would watch her and everything.
I love her. She's fantastic. So yeah, Bad Bactor is coming in
spring of twenty twenty one. Alsoin twenty twenty one, we have Star
Wars Visions, which is the tenshort episodes of various Japanese anime directors that
(09:11):
they're doing that I'm so excited aboutthat. We also, obviously from the
end credits of Mandalorian, we havethe Book of Book Effect coming out in
December of twenty twenty one. Yea. We have no new movies coming out
(09:33):
this year, but I believe nextyear we have the Roke Squadron movie coming
out gonna be great. And thegaming news we have that EA no longer
holds the exclusive rights of the franchiseand movie Soft, who is famously known
for doing like the Assassins Creed gamesso many other games where they're really known
(09:54):
for, like the Assassin's Creed gamesand whatnot, are doing an open world
Star Wars game. And they,I mean, they are really good at
open world, So yes, Iexpect you good things. I'm this is
this is what we've been wanting about. When we talked about this on a
couple of hours, we focused onStar Wars gaming episodes. We've talked about
(10:20):
how what we really really really wantto see was an open world Star Wars
game. So yes, and Ithink I think it's probably a large amount
of people who are interested in that. I'm kind of akin to the Star
Wars galaxies right back in the day. Yeah, but it's more it's like
that, but without the multiplayer aspectyea, which for a lot of people,
(10:41):
I think, I think, especiallythese days, Um it's hard to
find time, oh for sure.Balanced for that you know and something that
you like you literally have to logonto every day. Just I was really
big onto um massive multiplayer online RPGsback in the day I was a child
and like through college. But youjust it's such a huge commitment that as
(11:05):
an ad a lot to do.Yeah, you just can't do it.
So I think a lot of uswant that feel in a game without that
level of stressful commitment UM like Skyrim, which is why I still play Skyrim
even though it's it's like an eightyear old game at this point, eight
year old game. So I amvery very very very very interested to see
(11:26):
where this goes. I'm very stoked. They haven't said when it takes place,
really, they haven't said much aboutit, just that would Besoft is
producing this game, and I'm reallystoked for it because could you imagine just
like you know, going to allthese different worlds and you know, stuff
(11:46):
like that, or if it's juston one planet, I'm okay with it
one planet as long as it's bigand you can explore everything. Yes,
absolutely. So that being said, what error would you want to see explored
the most? I would like tosee the High Republic personally, um and
(12:07):
if not High Republic then probably theImperial Leer. Okay, see, I'd
like to see either. I wouldlike to see what between uh six and
seven, because that's what like thirtyyears right, Yeah, yeah, uh,
(12:28):
that would be cool. I meanI would obviously love the older public
or not old Republic, the Republicand well just like the actual Republic,
but yea, yeah, I wouldlove that just because of that nostalgia.
But yeah, absolutely, I uhoh, what's another one. I mean,
(12:48):
the High Republic would be nice too, because it's uh, we'll talk
about this in a minute too.The High Republic is becoming a very big
thing right now in Star Wars, yeah, which is what kind of makes
me wonder if that's the direction they'lltake, it would make sense, but
I don't know, we'll see.EA has also teased a new Star Wars
(13:11):
shooter game coming out this year.Fans are thinking that might be Battlefront three.
That would be cool, but Ithink it's still too early for Battlefront
three. It's still got a lotof playability replayability. Well not only that,
but they just kind of finished outdoing Battlefront two stuff. I think
it was either twenty nineteen or twentytwenty, so I don't foresee it being
(13:37):
that. It very well could be. But if you're gonna do a battle
Front three, give it a lotof time, give it to the love
and care that deserves. If thefans really want, you know, bringing
stuff that we've seen in squadrons, you know, take fan input for what
characters they want to see, anddo that. I wonder if the way
told, there's enough, well, like two new major platforms. So if
(14:01):
we get PS five and whatever, the next Xbox iteration is, well that
Xbox the new one's out already.Did I already drop? Yeah, both
of them did. Oh god,I'm so behind, so like I'm spending
money on those. So I'm likethe Xbox just dropped like a month before.
I think for a few weeks beforethe PS five. See, I
(14:24):
totally thought that was like just anotheriteration of though of the one. But
no, it's the brand, brandnew one, so x X Yes,
so I could very well be thoughtI thought the Xbox X was just like
a new version of the current Xbox. I'm not a person, m uh,
(14:50):
it's okay, you're just a fakegamer. Yep. Absolutely, but
I've only been gaming since I waslike three. But yeah, definitely a
fake gamer, fake fan thake fan. Uh, so there's that. Like
I said, hopefully it might bebow Run three, it might not.
I don't know. I don't knowwhat other Star Wars shooter it would be
(15:13):
unless they're like resurrecting a bunch ofstuff a new thing. Yeah, I
mean, oh, you know what, like a Cassian's spy kind of old
school Golden Eye, perfect dark sortof thing would be really cool. Well,
I would love it if they resurrectedthe concepts for A thirteen thirteen and
ran with that. That would alsobe cool. Yeah. I don't know,
(15:35):
but that's just my thoughts on it. M Lego. Star Wars the
Skywalker Saga was pushed back from winterof December winter of twenty twenty to spring
of twenty twenty one, so thatwould be coming out soon with over three
hundred playable characters over twenty eight locationsto visit. You go through episodes one
(15:58):
through No. Nine and uh,you can claim in any order, I
guess, and stuff like that.Did you see? Also, this is
so funny that recently they came outsaying they wrote a bigger role for Finn
in episode nine for this game thanwhat he had in the movie to do
it justice. That's funny that aLego game have a Lego game. Yeah
(16:22):
is doing this is kind of sadon the writer's part. For episode nine.
I'm just saying it. No,it absolutely is ouch jeez. Ea
has announced we are getting a Cotourremake. I'm pretty happy about that,
(16:45):
or remaster. It's a either remakeor remaster. Okay, so we're getting
a remaster of cour Uh Jedi Fallin Order two is basically all but announced
at this point. Yes, soI can't wait for that. Um January
fifth mark the official beginning of theHigh Republic series. So books, comics,
(17:10):
you name it, and it wasbasically you know released. It's set
roughly around two hundred years before episodeone. I need to carve out some
time to actually start reading that becauseI've only heard really good things so far.
It's very good. I'm reading thecomics for it right now, and
(17:34):
it's very good. They've just releasedthe second one this week, I think.
Actually, so I read the secondone and it's it's very good.
It's fun, it's very cool. And also the Star Wars the Alkalite series
it's coming to Disney plus ties intothe High Republic, so that's going to
be a fun thing. They're watchedtoo for the live action. I'd love
(17:57):
to see if either were. Mylibrary has it on Hoopla. There's like
a digital version because I don't know, it's hard for me to buy just
each you know, UM individual comicas it comes out instead of waiting for
UM's sort of like people like agraphic graphic novelization version of it UM because
(18:21):
they just take up so much roomand they're not as durable. I really
like just having everything in a nicehardcover graphic novel if possible. Yeah.
Yeah, so I will have tosee an alternative wave of keeping up with
those. Also in Game of News, forgot about mentioned this. Uh we're
kind of get like a resurrection ofLucas Arts games, but it's Lucas.
(18:44):
Yeah it's I I can't wait.I really hope that they bring back some
old titles, like not just StarWars related, um, like some new
Indiana Jones games would be fantastic. They are making a new Indiana Jones game.
It's not it's not by Lucas thoughit's by someone else, but they're
making a new one. Well ohwait, no, I did see the
(19:07):
uh ready for that? Yeah, like the teaser that was awesome. Yeah
yeah, yeah yeah, Coole,I personally don't know if you ever played
the game or not. Wait, which one? Do you remember? Day
of the Tentacle? Excuse you?Yes, I was like the old school
nine Days Lucas Arts. No,I never played that gaming. It was
(19:32):
weird, really weird, kind ofcomical sci fi nonsense. There was a
whole series of those kind of things, um that Lucas Arts put out.
Lucas Arts put out the most bizarreand awesome games back in the day,
and I would love to see aresurrection of some of those games. Yeah,
I never saw that. One cannotcannot confirm. Uh. There was
(19:59):
a game though that Lucas Arts didcalled Mercenaries. It's like On Our Destruction.
Do you remember that game? Idon't. So it was very very
fun uh uh kind of an openworld game where, uh, you basically
(20:21):
picked three mercenaries do you wanted tobe as picked one of them and just
went and did like contracts on thepeople and ship. Yeah that's cool.
It was very fun. It waslike hit Man before hit Man kind of
Yeah. So yeah, I enjoythose games. So if if they want
to bring back those games, they'remore than welcome to. They've got a
(20:45):
big library to play with. Thatcool, cool, cool. Okay,
is that it we caught up?Is that everything else happened? Um?
Most everything. If we're forgetting something, then we probably tweeted about it.
So sorry yeah, um, butso if you don't, we don't.
(21:07):
Oh, we didn't say what episodewe're doing today, so uh, today's
episode, um is a Specie spotlightbecause we know you guys like those Specie
spotlights and we didn't do nearly enoughof them, uh last season. Uh,
and today we're gonna be talking abouteveryone's favorite little murder bearers, the
Ewalks. Yes, so we're gonnatalk about that. Um, a little
(21:33):
preview of what's to come for thisseason might as well. Was going to
give a little teaser. We haveour our finale for Padme's Closet. That
mini series will wrap up this year. We I'm gonna assume we're gonna do
a Mando Fetso on Book of Boba. Yes, uh so that would be
(21:55):
coming in December. More Specie spotlights. We're going to try our damnedest to
get more guests on this season.Yes, we've got some feelers out,
um, hoping to get a maybelike a couple of artists and um goodness,
um, maybe some voice actors youknow, minor ones, whatever,
(22:22):
whatever we have a connection to.We're trying, we're putting out. We
will take what we can get atthis point, honestly. Yeah. So
and of course obviously just you know, more Star Wars shenanigans, more Star
Wars news character spotlights, will dosome more of those, and you know,
just shoot the shit. So yeah, Um, but before we talk
(22:44):
all about the cuddly, adorable ewalks of Indoor, we're going to take
a quick break and we're back injust a moment, and we are back.
Uh, let's let's talk e walks. Yes, off the podcast.
(23:06):
I know, I know, wellI was feeling even earlier. I was
like, this is going to bea super controversial episode because people either absolutely
adore e e walks or they justloathe them. Um. I am in
the camp of absolutely adoring them.Um, they're cute, They're they're adorable.
And if you're you know, Ithink I think if you were an
(23:30):
adult when the ot came out, then you might not enjoy them as much.
But if you were if you sawStar Wars as a child and then
you like the e Walks, likethat seems to be the experience I've found.
Yeah, I was a child whenI first saw the episodes four or
(23:52):
five and six, and I lovethe e Walks. They were cute.
Yeah, I knew about Ewoks beforeI knew like what really what Star Wars
was. I think, before Ihad seen the movies in their entirety,
I knew what ewoks were, andI knew that they were cute. And
because I think here's the funny thing, I think I saw the Ewok Adventures
before I saw the original trilogy.Oh really yeah, um, Like searching
(24:18):
the depths of my memories, Ithink I think that's how it went.
I think I saw it on theDisney Channel, and so as a young
child before I saw Star Wars before, I guess my mom thought I was
ready for sure, I was,huh yeah um. But again, like
I have these really deep memories ofthe e Walks. I remember my neighbor
(24:41):
across the streets at one point,I remember that he had one. He
had a doll like this, reallyit was a pretty large um ewok.
I was like, I guess itwas Ventage. I mean, it wouldn't
have been the two vintage at thatpoint, but it was fairly vintage,
um. I think because either itwas his dad's or his dad had given
(25:03):
it to him, um. Andit was super cute, and I just
kind of like idolized this thing. And I remember always wanting to play with
it when every went to his house, and I remember I've got to somehow
convince him to let me borrow itone night, and so we slept over
in my house for a night.Oh yeah, So I was super into
the e walks, super into theewalks. And we have a few friends
(25:23):
in our friend group who love thee walks too, and so this episode
is then a kid to all thefurry Wait no, let's not go there
reverse reverse. Oh no, ohno, Now now we've lost all of
our followers either just started off completelyand we're done and canceled. Uh no,
(25:48):
So let's let's talk of some statson the e walks. So they
are a mammal for classification if anyonewas wondering. Um average height is a
meter to a meter and a half. Their hair curler comes in shades of
white, browns and blacks. Um. The distinctions They are a furry,
(26:10):
short stature and have an acute senseof smell. The home world is indoor.
They are an omnivore and the languagedidn't know this is called this,
but it's ewakes. Yep, that'ssomething super duper creative there. Yeah,
(26:30):
what do they call ewakes? Yeah, it's probably it's probably not what it's
called in their own language. Ohno, it's probably called something super cool.
And then it's like yeah, yeah, yeah, So they are only
from from indoor, that is wherethat is where they originate. Um,
obviously we do see them elsewhere afterthat, but um, I don't know
(26:55):
how well known they were as aspecies throughout the galaxy before the Second Death
Star. So get get ready forthis. So I found something truly horrific.
Yeah, you're gonna love this.So all right, So, despite
the primitive technology and they're isolated athome. This is from the Wikipedia.
(27:18):
This is the official one. Thisis the cannon, not legends. Yeah.
Despite their primitive technology and their isolatedhomeworld, ewoks were not totally unknown
to the wider galaxy. During theClone Wars. Ewok Jerky yes, oh
I saw this was sold at PowerSliders and a Diane at diners. It's
(27:41):
so gross. E walk jerky. These things have like feeling like they're like
intelligent creatures and y'all just made jerkyout of them. I can't remember,
but I feel like I feel likethere's something simil lurn to that in um
(28:03):
in the Star Wars uh themed sectionof Disneyland. Oh, Galaxy's Edge,
Galaxy's Edge. I think there's there'sRonto jerky. Yeah, there's like these
there's these really weird sounding foods.Yeah, there's Toronto jerky. And they
couldn't call it ewalk jerky. Yeah. I wonder if they tested that and
people were like, no, likeyou cannot, I don't think so.
(28:30):
Uh yeah. So yeah, thee walks. They use spears, slings,
and nis as weapons. They alsoused hang letters as vehicles. Although
skilled in forest survival and the constructionof primitive technology, the ewok's idea to
progress past stone level technology. That'sjust funny to hear read it out loud.
Yeah, surprising because they are quiteintelligent obviously. Well, and then
(28:52):
they goes on to say they werequick learners. However, when exposed to
advanced technology, was simple mechanical processesand onceps. Yeah, basically they could
hit a button and they go roomroom. Yeah. Uh so another fun
kind of thing. Two years afterthe Battle of Indoor, many ewoks have
(29:14):
become calf farmers, and additionally,at least one named Peak Pah have found
employment with the New Republic as aslicer. Yes, I liked that.
That's pretty interesting. Um, Icould see them being used for various I
don't know, spy type means, because she's going to suspect the e walk
(29:37):
right. Did you read the wholethem as like emotional support animals. Yes?
Okay, so read this too forour listeners. As a manner of
recompense for saving Indoor, some ewoksagree to travel off world to help rebel
veterans recuperate, working with doctor Assardas therapy e walks. This is the
(29:59):
funniest thing ever, It's not adorable. Therapy et walks were offered to those
who had suffered to the horrors ofwar, such as witnessing tragedy, and
need to help with their recovery becausethey're not pets. No, but here's
the Those who that found this optiondistasteful were sometimes giving the use of a
therapy droid instead. I mean asmuch as I would love to have any
(30:22):
walk follow me around. That doesnot seem very Okay, it does not
seem pc. Yeah, it's notprogressive. I mean yeah, because like
they're not like they have like alanguage they speak and stuff. They're not
like barking like a dog or BEnglike a cat. Like they're no,
like just a therapy. Et walkis the funniest thing ever. I don't
(30:44):
know if I don't remember if thisis cannon or just legends, but I
do know that they were also unfortunatelylike pulled into slavery after this. Oh
yeah, I think that's legends now. But like, can you imagine like
a little ewok with a little likehelper vest On. It's really funny.
Like I know, I'm working,Please don't pet the Ewaukee's currently working.
(31:10):
I know. Oh my god,Like you're like you know in like some
like galactic supermarket and like, oh, that's an e walk and like,
no, you can't touch the ewokhe's wearing them. Sorry, sir,
you cannot bring your e walk inhere. Uh he's my emotion. Oh
my god, that's so funny,Like I really want one. By the
same time, I would feel likelike it's slavery. Yeah, I don't
(31:33):
think. I don't think that's okay. That's no, I'll take a droid
instead. Yeah, droids are fun. You can you can totally emotionally connect
with the droid. We know this. Yeah, and you can also like
you know, if the droid getsannoying, you can just say fuck off
and just switch them off. Youcan't switch off to catch shut off an
e walk. That is not okay. No, if you do that,
(31:55):
you're gonna make jerky and that's justa lot of work. Oh no,
no, no, no, I'mstill just gobs back about this ewalk jerky.
That's the funniest thing ever. Yeah. Um so, I mean,
aside from obviously what we know fromall right, returning the Jedi. You
know, um So, back inbefore twenty fourteen, the e walk mythos
(32:24):
was much more substantial than it isnow. Um I. George Olcas like
really really liked the e walks andhe used them quite a bit. Um
they had a lot of their owncontent, like outside of outside of the
main um series. They had comicsand you know, they were featuring cartoons
(32:45):
and they had two major movies whichfollowed up right after Returning the Jedi.
Um they came out in nineteen eightyfour and nineteen eighty five, and that
was Caravan of Courage, an Ewokadventure in eighty four and the Battle for
Indoor in nineteen eighty five. UmUm, both of those take place on
(33:07):
Indoor and involved uh some of someof the Ewoks that we all kind we
already kind of know. Um.So the Ewoks do apparently in a habit
all of Indoor, but we mostlyjust kind of see this this one tribe
um that we already know some ofyou know, like uh Wick it has
(33:31):
played by wonderful Warwick Davis. Sothe so the care of it of Courage
has this this family that they're basicallythey end up being like the Swiss family
Robinson. This is what it is. It's Star Wars with family Robinson.
That's absolutely what it is. Um. Yes, with the little girl who
(33:51):
looks like Shirley Tumble, she wasnineteen eighty Shirley teubble Um. I was
so annoyed that my hair was notcurly as a child, believe me.
And it was all this girl's fault. This is really diffu. Yeah.
So his family, the Tiwani family, basically um, their star Cruiser gets
destroyed. Um, they get wreckedon um on Indoor and uh, their
(34:15):
parents just kind of like get captured. I think. I don't know.
I don't remember. Is this onewith the which or the second one?
That's the second one? The secondone, so so the there's these two
children. Was the older son whokind of looks like really young Mark Hamill,
(34:36):
which is a little weird. Uh, and then his younger sister,
um, oh god him, what'sher name, like Cindy Sindelindel And they
get taken in by the Ewaks andthey're trying to rescue their parents basically from
some evil thing that I cannot remember. I don't know. It was like
(34:58):
a monster or something. Wasn't itlike a like a dragon thing? God,
it's been a long time. Ihonestly can't remember. I didn't I
don't know if I saw the firstone. I saw the second one.
I know that, but I don'tremember see the first one. The second
one got played a lot more thanthe first one. I have much bigger
memories of the second one than thefirst one. Um. I think I
(35:22):
don't know. It was received fairlywell, Like you know, people were
desperate for more Star Wars and thenhere was this Star Wars like nade for
TV movie. Yeah, it wasn'treleased in theaters, was it. No?
I don't think so. Uh,let me say hold on yep,
television television only. Okay, soit was a TV movie. Yeah,
(35:45):
it was a TV movie. Itis. It was written and um produced
by George Lucas, like this ishis stuff. Um. And like I
said, he really liked the eWalks. And he read a quote earlier
that he was already he was alwaysis intending in the third movie of the
original trilogy for the Empire to betaken down by a primitive his word,
(36:07):
um, yes, a primitive speciesand um. Initially he thought it was
going to be the Wookies, butyou know, through the series development,
you know, it was pretty muchshown that Wookies aren't actually primitive. They
you know, they've got technological advancements. Um. And so they invented mini
Wookies, which is short, yes, which is why ewalk sounds so familiar
(36:30):
to wookie because it's it's an amalgamationof that. Basically, they just kind
of messed around with the syllables andcame up with e wok um. But
he really, he really wanted thatjuxtaposition of the very organized, high tech
empire being taken down by a bunchof primitive teddy bears, which yep,
(36:53):
yeah, which pissed off so manypeople. Yeah, but you know what,
I think it's great, and youknow, it has some historical contexts.
A lot of people could not defeatother people without the help of indigenous
people, So yeah, it's gota yeah, there's questionable parts, but
also you know, I understand it. Okay, So I don't know there's
(37:15):
that. I'm assuming they eventually foundtheir parents and defeat the dragon thing.
And so before we talk about thesecond movie, though, we have to
take another break good ideas, becauseads, yes, let's do that.
(37:36):
So, yes, we'll be backin a moment. Hey, guess what,
we're back. We're back, allright, So let's talk the second
movie. Okay, so second movie, obviously we're still here at this point.
(37:59):
I don't remember, but like Ifeel like they they were orphans.
I don't remember their family in thisone. I don't remember them having a
family in this one. There's afamily die that you walked. Did they
take them in? They might thatmust have. Let's see, let's see
if I can find the blah blahblah. Okay, six months have passed,
(38:22):
star cruisers almost completely fixed, familiespreparing to leave. Oh and then
the village is attacked by a groupof marauders. Oh and this is where
led by the infamous and original Witchof Endor, who I was low key
obsessed with because of their ring.Yeah, and she was super cool.
(38:44):
And this is like, this iskind of like the origins of the Night
Sisters. By the way, guys, like, this is why she was
the unconfirmed first Night Sister that wesaw. Yeah, so because she is
a she's a dark witch force user. Um like that. This whole thing
is crazy. But again, youknow again, this is George Lucas.
(39:07):
This is his stuff. So Idon't know. Um, I guess,
um something the family. I think, yeah, I think the family is
killed. I think she kills thefamily, and so the e walks take
in the girl, the surely Templegirl, but not the brother. I
(39:29):
think he got killed too, Okay, get wrecked. Yeah, I think
that's what happens. Uh, yeah, I think that's I think that's what
it is. Um. I don'tremember if she did she have force powers.
I don't think she did. No, no, she had that magical
ring that she could transform into likea raven or something like that. No,
(39:52):
no, no, no, no, no no, not the Witch
of Endor. Not the Witch.Oh, I don't remember. I don't
think so, I don't. Idon't know. I wonder. I feel
like maybe she did, but maybenot. Um. Anyway, yeah,
that was that was basically it.They got to defeat this crazy person.
There was like a castle and someother stuff. This was weird high eighties
(40:15):
fantasy sci fi fever dream. Yeahthat is yeah. Uh, like we
said she could the witch could turninto a bird, and um, I
don't know there Oh there was anold guy. There was an old guy.
Yes, there was an old guy. There was like a yes exactly,
(40:37):
well we're gonna like as a Georgeare Warton kind of dude. Um,
very much like from the eighties becauselike he also had like his eighties
glasses on. He wouldn't like takethem off. Ye. Yes, God,
this movie was bizarre. Um.And I will say that again.
Most people hate this movie. Mostpeople hate these movies. Um, but
(41:00):
I have a special love for thembecause of what I said earlier. Um,
I don't know where you can evenfind these movies. Anymore. I
assume they're on some like dark internetsearch that you can find I I guess
it would be really nice if theywere I don't know, you know,
(41:22):
on Disney Plus. They were onPrime apparently were they? Yeah? And
then in December of last year,Disney pulled them from Prime. But but
there's no I don't know, there'sno there's never been an announcement of them
and actually being on Disney Plus.So I don't know they're noncanonical. They
(41:46):
were, they were literally declared noncanonical, So I don't know if we
may never see them again, justlike we may never see the what is
it Ghindy Tarkovski's Clone Wars micro seriesbecause that's considered not cannon now exactly,
even though that was a brilliant, absolutely brilliant Star Wars series. Um I
(42:07):
love that original animation. But yeah, So these two bizarre books then led
to uh not so short lived foran animated series, um Ewalk animated series
literally called he Walks that ran fromeighty five to eighty seven. I remember
(42:28):
seeing reruns of that somewhere. Ithink like I had a VHS really really
early on of those, and thatwas fun and otherwise they just kind of
popped up all over the place, you know, like that was a way
to add spice, I guess,or you know, from familiarity and comfort.
(42:52):
Yeah, sorry, not spice, add comfort and familiarity to your whatever
Star Wars content. You were producingcomics carts, yes, Spici cartoons.
Um. Yeah, So it waslike, you know what, you know
what this needs, This needs anewak, Throw it an ewalk and that's
(43:15):
so they Yeah, before twenty fourteen, the Ewak history was long and storied,
and now it is not, asidefrom being jerky and emotional support animals,
Oh why why? Okay, soyeah, I'm just reading the like
(43:37):
some knots the plot on Wikipedia.Yeah, her whole family gets wrecked.
Oh lovely. Yeah, so thereyou go. Yeah. But also,
can we talk really quick about hername is Charles the which the w Yes?
Can we talk about her gorgeous likefeather cape that she had? Yes?
No, she was so cool. She was so cool. It was
(43:59):
very like Disney villain type insanity.I just love that. I just love
that. George Lucas was like, you know what I'm gonna take from the
Bible. I'm gonna take the Witchof Indoor that's what I'm gonna take from
the Bible and I'm gonna put thatin Star Wars. Wait, what the
(44:20):
Witch of Indoor? The Witch ofIndoor is in the Bible? No,
yes, for what is She's awitch. She's in the Old Testament.
She's a she's a witch. She'syeah, Indoor in the Bible, in
the Bible. Yes? What right? Yeah? It was like King Saul.
(44:49):
Yeah, that sounds right, KingSaul and the Witch of Indoor.
Yes, well should I didn't knowthat she was part of his whole story,
right? Isn't that crazy? Like, of all the random things that
that George Lucas decided to to joinkfrom Christianity, which joinks everything from everything
(45:12):
else, he chose the Witch ofIndoor. I have to wonder if that
was always I know, it isn'tthat weird? I have to wonder if
that was always an idea of havingthere be a witch because of the fact
that he named the planet Indoor.It's it's I don't know, it's a
(45:36):
bizarre it's it's I've always wondered aboutthis. It's such a very oddly specific
and bizarre thing. Yeah. Sothere's your there's your weird Star Wars Bible
connection for those of you who didnot did not know, that's so weird.
It's so weird. Yes, charlthe Witch of Indoor. Huh.
(46:02):
Anyway, that should be a costume, you do, right, No,
it's cool. She's got like that, like the molded body piece thing.
She's cool. She's really cool. You should you should do that and be
Wolford Brimley's character. Oh my god, oh my god, let me be
Wolford Brimley. Yes, Oh,it's so funny. Oh yeah, I
(46:28):
don't know. She was really cool. Obviously she looks awesome. So the
concept art for her, I don'tknow if you remember, is really awesome
and you can see where that's whatit looks like. Yeah, she was
just like she was like a desiccatedcorpse looking thing. It's the same,
the same costume. But she wasgary looking because the woman who plays her
is obviously, like, you know, attractive in a witchy way. Um.
(46:51):
But the concept art is terrifying.Um. And it really looks like
a death homere witch. So yeah, you can make her can and again,
Disney, they should make her cannonagain. That would be amazing,
even though her hair is oh,it's cool. It's a choice. That
hair is. That is the mostwrecked wig I've ever seen. Oh oh
(47:15):
god, I kind of want towear list of celebration you should. How
amazing would that be? I want? You should do? You get?
You get so much praise? There? Are you kidding? It would be
amazing. You guys can all besexy e Walks. Oh no, I'll
be your I'll be the bird versionof you want just like flap around with
a bunch of feathers. There,it's Maleficent on in Star Wars. That's
(47:39):
all this. Yeah, that's whatit is. So what what about the
e Walks is like your favorite thing? Um? I mean they were adorable.
That's probably why I was obsessed withhim as a kid. Um.
I liked. I liked how theyinteracted with friends of Leia. I thought,
(48:02):
you know, you don't really getto see much um of a softness
from her, which is really interesting, especially for an older series. Um,
for a female character not to bea particularly soft character. Uh you
know what I'm saying. Yeah,Like she's not Leia is not motherly,
(48:25):
you know, not particularly, She'snot you know, she's a she's a
fighter. Um, she means business. Uh she speaks her mind. Well
there's not there's really not much umtraditional feminine softness to her character that you
see in a lot of um everything. Uh So I did like them showing
(48:45):
that she could have a softer sidetoo, you know, because like Luke
has a softer side, um andso, and I like seeing that about
Luke, Like his interactions with Rtwo. Oh yeah, I feel like
we're always a really nice soft side. And with haw and his interactions with
the Falcon and with Chewy Um showedthe sort of nicer side to him,
(49:07):
you know, give him, madehim multifaceted. And I liked that this
made Leia more than just this, you know, the war hardened, veteran
kind of character, almost very veryserious. Um So, I like that.
I like I love her interactions.I love her being taken in with
(49:28):
the Ewoks. I like that shegot a cool, weird outfit that they
made for her that kind of likeokay, so they just like made this
I guess which what the hell ordid they have it lying around? Like
where did this happen? I don'tknow, but it is one of my
favorite of the stupid random Star Warscostumes that layawares Um and I do have
(49:51):
a pretty awesome cannon outfit, theEwok Village outfit that I just you and
I love it, and I'm actuallythinking about we're bringing it out again because
I have I have a toddler, and I have an equal costume for toddlers,
and I feel like that needs tohappen. I need I need a
(50:13):
photo shoot in that costume with mylittle ewalk baby. Oh okay, cute,
that would be super cute. Itwould be very very cute. But
it's going to be freezing for thenext I don't know month, so it'll
have to wait probably till spring.Oh yeah, next week here in good
old Kansas. I think some ofthe highest supposed to be like nine degrees
(50:36):
and low of negative fives. Yeah, after not having winter for any of
the winter so far, we areabsolutely settling in for winter. It's some
bullshit, you know. I likeit. I like winter. I'm pretty
stoked about this. The bullshit forme is the fact that I keep finding
bugs in my house and that Inever find at this time of the year,
(50:57):
and I'm like, what the hellare you coming from? So hopefully
with that deep freeze a little guilt, they all will die My thing is,
uh, I don't mind the coldlike this, but like, give
me some snow with it too, don't just have to be bitter cold and
the great outside. Well there wasa snow for like the next five days,
so we're good. Oh cool, there you go. Oh I didn't
(51:21):
see that that And they're like theydid look at that. Yep, uh
yeah, that is why that is. Uh. I think probably some of
my favorite bits of the Ewalks. They're they're good little comic relief and yeah,
so when I was a little youwhat do you like? It was
when I was little, they wereyou know, these cute little ewalk bears
who they were the comedic relief forepisode six. Yeah, you know that
(51:45):
we George knew the episode six wasgoing to be the wrap up and there's
lots of dark things happening, andyou know, redemption and trials and all
that stuff, so it's like youhave to have something funny happen. And
the e Walks trying to work technologyor trying to you know, distract the
stormtroopers. That was the funny bit. Besides of course three pos lines and
you know, all this comedic stuff. Yes, So I mean I get
(52:08):
why, Like the people in theeighties were like the galactic empire that rules
over thousands of star systems just gotbeat by a bunch of bears. I
get why they were upset, butthey were cute. They were cuddly.
I like them. It's like it'smythology. Get on board. Yeah,
(52:31):
um I really So. When Iwas in um, I think my second
or third year, going to SanDiego Comic Con, they had like you
know that the prop store that alwayshas a booth there, mum. So
they had like a drawing basically wherethey scanned your badge and you were entered
(52:53):
in to win uh something, andthey scanned my badge And what is up
for winning was a original production storyboardfrom Return of the Jedi And it's the
one of where the Ewok is onthe steals the speeder bike and grabs the
(53:14):
vine to you know, hoist himselfup. Yeah, and it's signed by
a producer of the film. AndI happen to win that. What what's
hung up in my room right now? I think I've told the story before.
I cannot remember, uh And funnyenough, on the storyboard it says
that the Ewak is supposed to beWicket it's not Wicked in the film,
(53:35):
but uh so I have that mountedon my wall. I guess it's worth
like at least a grand or something. But anyway, that's amazing. I
am so envious. I'll take apicture of it. I'll send it to
you. Yeah, so that's myonly like Ewok memorabilia I think I have.
I may have like from the Powerof the Forest line, the Little
(53:58):
Wicket Beanie Baby that they made.My dad really liked the Ewoks because they
were cute and cuddly and stuff. But yeah, I think they have found
a new found appreciation kind of likehow Jarjar has. Yeah, because if
(54:20):
you remember correctly, Jarjar was loathedby a lot of people, but like
me, who Wrek with him,I found him hilarious. And now he's
gotten a lot more recognition, alot more love, a lot more people
want jarge O this, jarge Ourautographs and stuff like that. So yeah,
I think it's it's, you know, following the same path as Jarjar
(54:42):
has, which I'm happy for.You know, we don't need any more
hate in the Star Wars community rightnow. There's a lot of that still
steaming from episode nine. Don't needmore, yeah, which By the way,
did you like that cameoon episode nineof Wicket and his Son? Yeah?
How adorable was that? It wasvery cute, total fan service,
but it was very cute. Idon't care. I'm a fan exactly.
(55:09):
Uh So. Also, I lovethe fact that the e walks at the
very end or you know, playingdrumas basically on stormtrooper helmets. Where did
the troopers go? It's they atethe troopers. They ate them. They're
carnivors. Well they're they're omnivores, they're actually anivors. But yeah, they
(55:31):
absolutely ate them. Yeah, likethey fully ate the Stormtroopers and they're playing
on their dead helmets basically, andwhich is hilarious to me because you know,
at one point it was like walkingby a hut and you see like
a rotisserie of a stormtrooper just beingturned. She's like, Nope, we're
not gonna eat here tonight. Imperiously, we're gonna we can we can save
(55:55):
our rations and just go to acruiser and eat. We're not going to
be eat in here, sorry, guys. Nope. Yeah, they go
upstairs and start eating a they starteating jerky luke that's not a turkey leg
you put that down. Oh God, nope, you drop it. It
(56:15):
would be so funny cross. Uh. Well that note, guys. Uh,
that wraps us up here. Wehope you enjoyed a little into the
Farina realm of Star Wars. Ohoh no, oh yes, uh so
(56:36):
don't forget. You can follow usat Echo Station Cast on Twitter. We
will have an Instagram sometime in thenear future, in the next week or
two, and we will obviously tweetthat out for that link. Uh,

(56:57):
And you can also find me onTwitter at I Our Turner and on
Instagram at House of Turner cosplay.Like Chris said, we have a special
kind of secret Disney project coming upher and her and her crew or film
or shooting hopefully some time and wasit March right? If all goes correctly,
(57:21):
we will be testing so a weekmoved for like the like the three
days before we go getting our resultsand then we are driving together and like
bubbling together, and we are werented a cabin and he are staying in
the cabin. We are just eatingall our meals there. Well, you
know, we'll order take out,but we're mostly just going to cook.
And then we are going to runout to the mountains a bunch of time
(57:43):
and take photos and then drive home. So we're pretty stoked about that.
And then I will obviously join them. I'm literally gonna make you guys also
get like dressed up again like theweek after and we're doing a photo shoot
with me. I don't care.I'm gonna be selfish about it. Sounds
good to me, Like I willliterally like, okay, guy, just
save your paint because it's just keepit on basically for the whole week,
because yeah, like it's gonna happen. So uh so, yeah, follow
(58:07):
us at Egostation Cast. We havea lot of stuff happening. We cannot
wait to bring it to you all. And until next time, May the
Force be with you. May theForce be with you.
