You're listening to the Heroes Podcast Network. Hello you, friendly Force users,

(00:21):
and welcome to another monthly episode ofEcho Station Podcasts. I am Chris jade
As always be here with my lovelyco host Ian. That's me. Hello.
Hello, So we got it's alittle bit of news, kind of
like, not like big news, but some interesting, kind of fun little

(00:41):
tidbits to talk about. Um.And then our main topic today is going
to be the recently released Star WarsVintage collection on Disney Plus. Yes,
talk about that, because for somereason, the twenty thirteen colone Wars is
considered vintage. Twenty and thirteen isvintage, y'all or not? Thirteen was

(01:04):
two thousand and three, thousand three, two thousand three? Yeah, no,
So if two thousand and three isvintage, then we are ancient.
Yeah, that's where we are.Dust that it's where we are. Like,
that's when I thought was on there. I'm like, oh, is
it a separate thing. No,it's under vintage. Okay, that's just
where we are now in society.Thanks. We live in a society.

(01:26):
We live in a society where twothousand and three is vintage? Is vintage?
Yep? Oh boy, what asociety. That is um, all
right, so news watters yep,Um, it looks like Gina Krana has
been the shadow banded from Twitter.Yes, so it's a little bit of

(01:46):
a little bit of buzz about this. Um, it's not coming up when
you search for her deep dive tosearch her. Yeah, and she's not
coming up on like you know, just if you were if you didn't follow
her and you were scrolling just youknow, random you know, random stuff
comes up on Twitter if somebody reweetsor whatever and likes it. Yeah,

(02:08):
she's not gonna come up. That'sthat's basically what shadow banning is. Yeah.
You had to explain that to mebecause I was like, what the
fuck is a shadow band? Yeah? So and you can. So you
can be shadow band on any anyplatform and it happens. It happens all
the time. People get shadowman onInstagram all the time. I don't think
I've ever had it happened to me, but I know all of my friends

(02:30):
that are in cosplay have had ithappened. And it just basically means the
algorithm pushes you down and makes youinvisible. So does it ever go away
or is it always? It does? It does go away. Um.
Usually they just it's like you've beendoing something, You've been doing something too
much. Like on Instagram, it'sif you like post too much, if

(02:50):
you well, if you post toomuch using the same hashtags, the algorithm
will push you down in shadow anufor a little while. Um, because
social media is dumb and assessed pool. It's just of stupidity. Yeah,
but Twitter and Facebook. I don'tknow about Instagram so much, but I
know that Twitter and Facebook do thisto keep down controversial stuff, things that

(03:19):
they're getting a lot of complaints aboutcontent wise and whatnot. Instead of just
outright kicking you off the platform, they'll just make it so that unless people
are really looking for you, they'renot going to see you, right,
So that's interesting. I don't know, no confirmation on that. I did
kind of do a little bit ofsearching and it was a little hard to
find her, but you can,but you have to really do like you

(03:42):
have to search and then go tolike top results and go and find someone
who follows her and then like taggedher in something and then you'll find her.
Basically, Yeah, is how Iunderstand it. So there's that what
are you playing with? Oh gosh, that's so funny. I am playing
can you I guess you can't seeit right? What is that? Yeah?
I am playing with. This isan action figure of a dark elf

(04:06):
um enchanter. It's basically this ismy character when I played a request because
in the middle or on zoom rightnow for those who don't know. And
I just see so Chris her backgroundright now as a star destroyer bridge and
all of a sudden, I justsee like this blue little creature like on
the screen, just like trotting around. I'm like, what the fuck is
that? Yeah, No, she'sjust she's always lived by my computer since

(04:29):
since I since I bought her.I think I bought her in like I
brought her in high school, butI started playing in middle school. Oh,
she's a staff and everything he doesbecause she's a caster. Yeah.
This is my my other nerddom,my other heavy duty nerdom aside from Star
Wars is like Dungeons and Dragons typestuff. Yes, we're speaking which plug
what you guys is what your whenyour little group did. Oh yeah,

(04:53):
so if you guys are a bigfan of Dungeons and Dragons, if you
listen to the the uber popular CriticalWorld podcast, Um, we went up
to Denver and then into the Rockiesa few weeks ago. Um it comes
a month ago now, Um,my friends and I and other castle creations

(05:14):
we all got our COVID tests likea couple of days before we tested negative.
We stayed home. Then we reada giant like church van and we
drove to the mountains. Yeah, and we were there when if you heard
on the news when Denver got ahuge historic blizzard. So we were there
for that. It was an epicamount of snow and we took photos because

(05:41):
we did. Um, we madecostumes for the like crazy frozen land adventure
that they've been doing on Critical Role. Uh, so they've all got like
really cool winter effits. So wemade versions of that and then ran around
in the snow for a few hoursin these crazy outfits. You looked,

(06:02):
and I was waiting for you toget on this so I can tell you
this. You looked like an angry, like Russian assassin woman. That is
that is pretty much what Yosha is. Okay, she isn't angry. That
hat made it seem very Russian.Yes, she wanted she wanted the voice
actress. When she described it,she was like yeah, I want one
of those Russian type hats. Looklike a bullshit of hat and it doesn't

(06:25):
look like just an angry Russian inthe snow. I'm like, oh,
I love it. Well. Imean I'm always kind of partially angry Russian
looking anyway, just because I'm EasternEuropean, so I kind of like my
resting bitch face is angry Russian.Ye. Yeah, So we had a
lot of fun and it was reallycool, and I made this amazing coat.

(06:46):
It's really really pretty and it's wooland it's lined and fleece and it's
super warm and totally usable. AndI've wanted a couple of times um since
then, just like in regular lifeand about. Yeah, everybody's like that
is an amazing coat. It's reallypretty. Does have like ruins on it
too, or it kind of hasum so it's mostly like flowers and um

(07:10):
lightning kind of motifs because she's herher patron god is um the storm Lord.
Okay, but she likes flowers too, so I did. Um.
It's a it's a giant. It'sit's just a giant like military trench coat
type of thing with a hood.Um. It's black wool, and I

(07:30):
embroidered the entire thing with this metallicsilver embroidery. Um of these flowers and
um and lightning and kind of itlooks very pretty gold. Uh. My
instagram is Chris Jaded. Yeah.Uh. And it actually got featured to

(07:50):
the costume got featured on Critical Roleswebsite. Did it um for the cosplays?
Oh? Yeah, that was prettycool. That was pretty cool.
Yeah. And a few of thecast members actually liked when I tweeted it
out. They liked the tweets. So I always love that when something like
you do and you take bases offof like someone's like art design or someone's

(08:13):
you know, whatever it is,and that person who created it or had
a hand in creating it likes yourphoto. That gives you such good validation.
Yeah. No, it was reallyreally nice. Um. I posted
it to read it as well, and everybody was like, oh wow,
you like you are this character. It literally looks like you stepped right under
the game. And it was veryvalidating, especially considering how much work went

(08:37):
into this insane outfit. I meanthere's probably I don't know, there's probably
like fifty hours of embroidery work.It's just it'st it's it's a lot,
but it turned out really well.Yeah, it's really cool. Um anyway,
so yeah, so that we didthat, that was fun. Um,
we were going to do some StarWars stuff. We did not get

(08:58):
a chance to you. Oh Idid do some. Actually I did do
Star Wars that weekend I did.I did Mara. I did it out
right that I outfit her green outfit. Um, the one where she looks
like she walked off the set ofLord of the Rings. Yeah, that
one. That Yeah. So thecat and his braid, which is like
my preferred hairstyle, So that waseasy. Did you use her own hair?

(09:20):
Was there a wig for that one? No? That was my that
was my hair. That's my thought. Um, I try to I try
to do my hair when I doMara because well it makes sense too,
because I can't because like, yeah, it's only if I like the random
times in my life where I've cutit short and dyed black that I wasn't
able to do it. But right, um, I was I gonna say,

(09:41):
um, oh yeah, I actuallywould do like that of it.
I think it's really cute, it'sreally comfortable. Um. I do think
it has a good Jedi leaning towardsit. I like that it's green,
it's kind of like a nod toLuke's lightsaber, and it looked relatively easy
to make. Two it is right, it's just a it's just a tunic,
that's I thought. Yeah, andpants um actually they're tights. I

(10:03):
know that. I know that Lawrence, our one of our previous guests a
couple of times, absolutely despises thatout do not like it because he thinks
it looks like it's it's from Laurdof the Rings. He says it doesn't
fit in Star Wars. He thinksit's dumb. And I think that's silly,
because yes, I'm saying, Iam saying that you are stilly,
Lawrence, because there is so muchfantasy crossover in Star Wars, and I

(10:24):
think it's perfectly acceptable. Yeah, yeah, anyway, I mean I could
see her wearing like, you know, Tario's outfit from the Hobbit, so
you know, yeah, absolutely, yeah. The Star Wars is like so
many weird webs can cross. Forye, look at Padme's clothes, Like
so many pad MAT's clothes look straightout of some fantasy Eagle Renaissance. Oh

(10:50):
yeah, high fantasy drama crap.Yeah. So anyway, Um, I
posted a view of those out postsof Morris time goes on if you want
to check that also on my Instagram. I have content. I never have
content. I know now that you'remaking new costumes everything content. I'll have
content soon because I am and you'rethe first person to actually know this.

(11:13):
I am revamping and redoing my Corella. Yes, because that wig is horrendous
that I have first, it's oneof the first wigs I ever made.
It's not a lace front, butit has banks, so it kind of
hides the you know, fact ofthat. But literally I was like sewing
in White West's and I'm by sewing, I mean, like frantically, just

(11:35):
like going back and forth, goingthis looks right because I'm not that great
of a sewer, and the dayof the con taking a staple gun and
just yeah, that's great. Soit was horrible but it looked good in
pictures, but no one knew thatthere was like hot glues, industrial strengths,

(12:00):
apples, and uh, really horriblesewing in that wig. So that
was fun. Yeah, I'm gonnaget a new wig, probably a new
coat. Do a new coat forit, do new gloves for it.
Uh so yeah, we're gonna I'mgonna revamp that. But anyway, that's
not Star Wars news. That's justmy news. Um what are the Star
Wars news do we have? Um? I thought there was like three things.

(12:24):
Uh, I remember one, butI don't remember the other. Uh
oh u. Republic Commando has officiallydropped on consoles there that it's not a
remaster, it's not a remaker anything. It's just been it's been slightly tweaked
to the controllers for the next nextgen and now our previous gen. And

(12:48):
I guess now Jim would be thePS five and everything for that. Um
So if you didn't get to playit when it came out, like I
didn't get to play it when itcame out, I'm probably gonna get it.
Uh. Same thing also if youuh random side thing. But it's
still sci fi. So the MassEffects series is getting a whole like remaster
one, two, and three forthe new Gym. So there's that.

(13:09):
Uh. And then also the NewRepublic comic series is well on its way
in story wise, and I'm havinga blast reading them. I need to
I need to get instead. I'vegot a couple of books that i'm reading,
write down that I need to finish. Yes, finished rereading The Scarlet
which the Last Scarlet which run Ohyeah, because I have that in the

(13:31):
full graphic novel form and I wantedto read it after watching the show.
Yes. Um, so I waslike, Okay, I've read a lot
of comics. Now I need toread like an actual book. I need
to read an adult book. Ineed to read an adult book. Graphic
novels are for our adults. They'reabsolutely for adults. But that's gonna be
That's gonna be next on my listand I will buy those instead of getting

(13:54):
them from the library because I gottasupport the Star Wars books. They're very,
very good. I really enjoy them. Uh, and they have confirmed
hold on, this is huge forStar Wars. Um, give me a
second, hang on because I wantto get the wording right. So two
seconds hang on? Yeah, thereit is okay. So on the National

(14:22):
TRANSDAYA visibility the Star Wars Instagram account, Uh, they unveiled that the Jedi
um oh lord, their names isgonna be really budget here probably but Terek
and Carrot maybe not Carrot c ER E T. How would you say
that cret C E R E TT. Yeah. Oh, I mean

(14:46):
it could be a hard sear,it could be a saft see, it
could be like Sarah it, Sarahit, Terek and Sarah Okay, we'll
call that h they are trans nonbinary Jedi. Yeah. And so we
talked about how cool this is huge, huge for the Star Wars uh community,

(15:07):
that that's being represented there. UmAnd of course with that came a
slew of disgusting hate comments and juststay away. It's it was rough,
but the one you know, focusedon positive ones and it's it's a great
thing for Star Wars, so keepit up star Wars in Marble. So
we were talking about this and howabout how a non binary um ace jedi

(15:35):
would pretty much be like the ultimateperfect Jedi. Yeah, because you don't
have that tendency to lean into passionbecause of sexual desire. Yeah, um,
because of a lust, because ifthat's not a thing and you're you're

(15:58):
less likely to fall into those darkside. Tips. I don't know,
so I feel like I feel likethey would be the ultimate Jedi. No,
that's that's a very fair, uhstatement. Why is it that on
my camera when I put my hairdown, you can no longer see my
face. It's just I am nowa like just a couple of eyeballs and

(16:22):
like a mass of red hair.I wasn't gonna say anything. I didn't
notice that. I was like, she's gone ghost. It's like, what
happens, She's gone Danny Phantom andjust gone ghosts. Oh my god,
it's so weird. That's funny. All right. Anyway, we're just floating
eyeballs in hair right now. Andthen, uh so, last bit um

(16:45):
that I can think of it wasjust this kind of weird one off thing.
Um. So a few places, yeah, a few places are reporting
that Disney currently has a working lightsaber. Not one that can cut things in
half, mind you, but likelike an actual retractable lightsaber. So you

(17:08):
know, apparently they've gone full StarkIndustries and are going into experimental weapons tech.
Um. People are reporting that theyhave seen it, but they were
not No one has been allowed tophotograph or video it, and someone like,
hey, I assume they're gonna belike it's one tho thing They're gonna
sell that Galaxy's edge. Hi,this seems like it's not what is it?

(17:33):
So long? Because it sounds likeit's like almost like retractable toys,
like not like an actually retractable likeplasma beam. No no, no,
no, this is supposed to bea real lightsaber, like oh, like
an actual thing they can cut things. Yes, like a real lightsaber.
I thought I read that as likea toy. That's like a prototype toy.

(17:59):
Proto type toy company has filed patentsfor similar products in the past,
with the patent referring to it asa special effects advice for providing an energy
sort effect. It isn't clear whetherthis is indeed the same object is described
by the patent. It does seemto be in the same spirit of what
was shown off at the press conference. Um, so it doesn't it.
There's no word on whether these particularworking retractable lightsabers will ever be available to

(18:22):
the general public, but hopefully we'llsee more news soon. I don't know,
that's pretty crazy if anybody. Idon't know. If I had Disney
money, I definitely throw it tosomething. Yeah, but I mean,
for everything I have ever seen,we just we don't have the technology.

(18:45):
It's not that it's not possible,it's just that we don't have the technology
yet. Now there's people on YouTube, wo come close to like doing like
a like a generator backpack kind of, yes, exactly, they all it
all. They're very proto saber.Yeah, not like a freestanding one that
we've seen in the movies. No, they have, and they worked just
like an actual lightsaber the way theyworked in the movies. They've just they
have to have a power source connectedto correct It's kind of like the you

(19:08):
know, the Ghostbuster's backpack exactly,if that makes sense. Yeah, which
is super cool. But I don'tknow this. I don't know. This
seems to be this I write, this seems to be something else but Disney
an R and D department, Disney, who knew. I don't think we've
ever talked about this before. Butif you could choose, like in a

(19:30):
fight, like just you, notlike you as like a character, but
just you and your skill that youhave right now, blaster or lightsaber?
I mean, oh god, ablaster, which just seems so easy,
right, Like, I'm very uncoordinated. I would lose a hand, I
would lose like an artery or two, maybe a toe, yeah, I

(19:52):
mean I would. I want alightsaber, but I feel like i'd probably
cut my own head off. Like, if someone's coming at me like head
on, I could probably do somethingwith lightsaber, but also like a blaster.
Yeah, I mean I'm a goodshot. Yeah, maybe I'm good
with the bows. I don't know, like Night's sister bows. Yeah,
maybe one of those an energy bow. Oh, speaking of blasters, we

(20:15):
can talk about this. Uh thesecond trailer for Um that that batch dropped.
Uh talk forgot about that. Thatlooks amazing and it's coming out in
less than a month. Yeah.Excited, very very excited. Looks beautiful.
We find out a little more aboutthat plot. It looks like the
bad batches being hunted now by Tarkenand the Empire or so, which makes

(20:37):
sense because we were wondering, like, all right, where are they going
to fall on this right line ofgood guys? Saw Rex appear for a
brief moment, So does that meanwe'll see and maybe a little bit of
an older Ahsoka as well. Um. I would hope that it's kind of
maybe building Um towards her series thatwe might get some Yeah, But at
the same time, I'm thinking Ithink they're separated at this point. Her

(21:02):
and Rex don't think they're together becausecome together until rebels it's true, So
I don't know if they're still maybewith I don't know, but it would
be cool to see her again becauseit's Ahsoka clearly. So um. But
yeah, that's about it for theStar Wars news. We're gonna take a
quick little break and then from therewe're going to talk about the Star Wars

(21:25):
the new Vintage collection on Disney Plus, which consists of I think two new
movies, a new and two series. Right, two movies, two series,
and one short Yeah, so uhyeah, stay tuned, guys,

(21:45):
and we're back. Um, so, how do you feel about this vintage
collection? What's in it? I'mstove because it's such a great nostalgia trip
um, which reminded me of theone bit of news that we didn't cover,
but it actually it fits with thistoo. So we are now twenty
two years out from the prequels.I was waiting to talk about that for

(22:08):
this for the benage. Yeah, and the prequels are twenty two years out
from the original series, so it'sI think it's a good time that they
brought it out now. It's anice it's a nice nod m. I
guess everybody's like, you know, well, let's where's the special edition prequels?
Bring the prequels back to the bigscreen, which I think would be
a great thing to do now thatwe're kind of getting back into people being

(22:33):
able to go out to the bigscreen. Yes, it would be.
It would be a good thing formovies to bring those back, just to
get people in the theater and youknow, stuff like that, because I
would absolutely love that. You andI've been vaccinated. My second vaccination is
actually on Tuesday, so mine iscoming up in a couple of weeks,
so we'll be fully vaccinated by theend of the months, basically, yeah,
the beginning of the next month. So um, yeah, So I

(22:56):
think that would be I think thatwould be a great thing to do.
Yeah, Remaster rereleased them on thebig screen. Um, it would be
pretty awesome. Um. It's justit's so weird to think that it's been
that lie, Yeah, because itseems because obviously, well so, I
mean, we were still kids whenthe prequels came out. The original series,

(23:22):
the whole series came out before eitherof us were born, correct,
So it felt like it was areally long time. It felt like Star
Wars was really old by the timethe prequels came out. But now that
I'm like thinking about when the prequelscame out, like, that wasn't that
long ago? Wasn't it was? What do you two years? And honestly

(23:45):
it does. It does feel thatway for episode one to me because because
I still look back at that asbeing a kid, and being a kid
feels like it was a long timeago. But Return of the Revenge of
the Sith doesn't feel like it wasthat long ago, no, because that
was what two thousand and five.Yeah, so in a few years it's

(24:07):
going to be the twentieth anniversary. That's so crazy. I think I think
this year is the twentyth anniversary ofAttack of the Clones two thousand and two.
No, let me next year twoand twenty. Next year's me the
twentyth anniversary year. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah right. Uh but

(24:29):
yeah. So in the Star WarsVintage collection we have, which Chris and
I've talked about before on the show. Yes, I never thought. We
never both of us thought in amillion years, we see this on Disney
Plus, said, I said,I wanted to see it. I was
like, bring it to Disney Plus. Well. The thing is, uh,
these are all considered non canon.Yes, so to have him on

(24:51):
Disney, on Disney Plus, it'skind of interesting because everything on Disney Plus
it is considered cannon. For StarWars. Yeah, it's really it's almost
like alternate you I don't, kindof interesting. So we have the Caravan
of Courage, we have Ewok's Battlefour Indoor. So those are the Ewok
movies. Yes, And we havethe short the Short Story of the Faithful
Wookie, which is like an eightiescartoon of Chewbacca doing something. Well that

(25:18):
that's an important one. We'll talkabout that one. We have the Ewok
series, and then we have theoriginal Clone Wars two D micro series.
Yes. So okay, so we'vealready talked about We've already talked about the
Ewok movies. Yea, quite. So I put it on because I was
with my coworker watch them. Iwatched the second one and because he and

(25:42):
I remembered it, but he didn'tremember the second one. I totally forgot
that. Wicket talked, yeah, totally just space it out and we started
talking. I was like, waita minute, I had to scrub back
and go what did he say? What? So basically how I see it
and my coworker found funny that forthis comparison that the family were like,

(26:06):
uh, Christian missionaries and they wentand taught English. Yeah, yeah it
does. It does kind of haveat five too, it doesn't. Yeah,
like, oh no, it's sooh god, it's so it's so
weird. It's very it's very muchGeorge, this is horrible. It's very
much. Oh my god, theworld needs more Star Wars content. Here

(26:29):
have this. Yeah. So thoseit's those are rough things to watch.
But if you ever like watch them, like just like maybe on some narcotics
or drunk or something, they're veryfun. Yeah. Um. They were
a big part of my childhood. They played on the Disney Channel quite frequently
for some bizarre reason. Yea,so I remembered them, and I remember

(26:51):
like the weird that weird other creaturein the second movie, Um, the
little um like a little monkey.Yeah, maniature ye looking guy. Yeah
yeah yeah that guy um who's alsoin the series, yes, or his
people are in the series. Soso then there's the Ewok cartoons, the

(27:14):
Rks cartoons, which by the way, has the most bizarre opening theme.
Yeah, they're like e walks. It's really weird. It was, it
was, and it was two seasons. It's it is, but I can't
believe there was two seasons of this. So the Ewoks series, the cartoon

(27:38):
series, um it is basically aprequel events that it runs up to the
movies, so that this happens allbefore the movies. Correct. Um but
it has similar characters and because we'rebasically looking at it from the perspective of
the Eoks, they all speak English, although they kind of like throw in

(28:03):
random Ewalk words every once in awhile. Yes, but oh my god,
it's this show is so trippy. It's like it's very eighties. It's
very eighties. But it's like ifthe Gummy Bears matched up with the the

(28:23):
Dungeons and Dragons cartoon mix with likea little bit of ThunderCats with a little
bit of ThunderCats. Is it is? So? I mean, the fact
that it's Star Wars is not evenapparent, and except that it's Ewalks And
then later you do get appearances bym Luke Skywalker and other yeah, past

(28:45):
members and the Empire gets involved instuff. Umah. Actually it kind of
canonically runs up to Return of theJedi, like it actually introduces Return of
the Jedi in sunways and the Empirebeing on indoor. But it's just,
oh my god, it's so crazy. All I remember from the show was
there like a really creepy indoor witchnamed more Eggs. Yes, so she
is super bizarre. And that's wherethat whole kind of weird dungeons and dragons

(29:08):
fantasy element comes into play. Andthere's like trolls at one point, rolls,
there's fairies. Even my even mydaughter because we were watching it together,
she was like, how is thisStar Wars? And I was like,
well, if you remember, there'sactually quite a bit of magic in

(29:29):
Star Wars, there's quite a bitof fantasy goes back to you know,
Margid and her elf costume. They'rejust quite a bit of high fantasy elements
to Star Wars. And there's anepisode called Blue Harvest, Yes, And
I was going to mention that,Yes. So there's lots of cool Easter
eggs that come out of the Ewokseries, including an episode called Blue Harvest

(29:51):
UM, which some of you mayor may not know is the what's the
code name for filming um fire tricksback Oh the O G and um And
then it was used for a familyguy. Yes, the move Hover specials

(30:14):
that was always those are fun.I like those. Yeah, I want
those on Disney Plus. But theywon't be on Disney Plus. It's never
gonna happen, but it should be. Why I mean, then, well
Fox has it. I guess that'sback from the Fox. So they Oh
that's right, they did, right, they own everything. I no wonder
they're building super weapons. They theyowned everything. Yeah, might as well
own the weapon biz too. Butyeah, so e walks. It's a

(30:37):
it's a trip and a half.Oh, it's so weird. I recommend
it just because it's like, Idon't know, you walk princess. Yeah,
she's oh god, it's so it'sso like pointlessly gendered too. But
she has like a pink cape andyeah, but it's very much and she's
all right and like she's very cute. Yes, and she's like she wears

(30:57):
like pears, like three oh onelashes like drag queens wear on top.
Yeah exactly, because you know, pointless, because princess. Um, it's
great for like an artificial nostalgia bombfor for a time when you weren't even
alive. Well, they're not cannonnecessarily, they're not cannon. But they're

(31:18):
fun. Yeah, you know,I mean they put them up for a
reason. Ye. So next upwe have the Faithful Hookie. Okay,
so this is very important. Here'swhy it is only a nine minute short.
It's a very interesting animation style umthat actually comes out of Europe and
not US animation studios um for afew good reasons. Um. And it

(31:44):
appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Specialyep and introduces us and until until the
prequels, this was literally the mostinteraction and we ever got with Barba Fett.
Yeah, because he's got a tonof lines, he's got a personality,

(32:07):
and he does stuff, and hedoes really cool things and doesn't just
you know, stand around and lookmenacing and get shot at yeah and eaton.
So this is where the original mystiquefor Boba Fett came from. If
you grew up and actually got tosee the Star Wars Holiday Special, which
I did not, nope, Um, I did not see it until high

(32:30):
school when there was like a randomcopy of it that was bouncing around YouTube.
Yea. Um. Other other thanthat, I don't I'd always seen
just like some dumb clips that peoplehad saved stills as if there were stills
of this cartoon, UM, andthe cartoon style is actually echoed UM sometimes

(32:51):
in the equalk thing UM. Andthen with the last thing we're gonna talk
about. But anyway, yeah,so it's all. It all goes back
to this people who we're obsessed withhim from the beginning. We're obsessed because
of this cartoon because he was reallycool, um, and he had fooled
everybody except so so okay, solet's just run down how what happens.

(33:15):
UM. It's the gang like Leiahand Luke and the Droids are on um,
some rebel base. I think it'sthe base. I don't know.
Maybe it's the ship and they getlike a distress signal or something from the
falcon and Um, Han is tiedup upside down in the background and incapacitated,

(33:39):
and Wookie is and Chebacca is driving, flying, piloting whatever you want
to say, and he is speakingwookies. I don't know what is the
way it's Um, it's not wookies, is it? What is it?
No? No, I should Ican't remember anyway. He's speaking his you

(34:04):
know, his language, and nobodyelse speaks it. No, And Han
is incapacitated. So nobody knows what'shappening. But basically, like the falcon
is barreling towards them and then they'reall they're freaking out because they think it's
gonna get destroyed. And I don'tknow. So they go on some like
Cocamani rescue mission or they're following. So Luke and the droids hop in hop

(34:24):
in some other ship and they goand they go off to find to follow
the falcon to see where it's going. Um, so they can try to
save han Um. And the droidsget taken along because because Luke doesn't speak
Wookie what it was called. Um. They get to this planet and I

(34:45):
don't know, they meet up withBoba fed on this giant dinosaur thing calls
for his aid. Basically, yeah, which is weird. It's really weird.
You don't so the whole how theyhave established, how they know each
other from the past, I don'tcompletely get. But he's coming along to

(35:08):
help them. Um, there's somelike weird sleeping sickness. I don't know.
Yeah, it's it's really really it'sit's OK for a nine minute cartoon,
is there's a ship It's like seventyeight nineteen and seventy eight. There's
a lot happening in this nine minutelittle thing. Um, you know,

(35:28):
he basically convinces everybody that he's agood guy. He's gonna help them,
he's gonna get the cure for thisweird sleeping sickness, and um, you
know, it seems like he's agood guy. He's calling everybody friend and
being nice and you know, ohEmpire bad blah blah blah bad. And
then our two intercepts this call thathe makes from like a payphone, so

(35:52):
intercalactic pay phone that Bubba makes thiscalled the Darth Vader, and he's like,
they're just um, they fell, they fell for it. I found
him, I got him. Yeah, And and Darth Vader's all okay cool
um and are too basically has tocome back and be like, yeah,

(36:13):
you guys are all eaty. It'sum, he's best buds with Darth Vader.
And didn't the like didn't the castvoice and all of the castree praises
their role. That's where I thought, because they because special. I assume
they did it with the cartoon too. Yeah. So it's pretty cool because

(36:37):
the animation is actually really interesting tolook at it. It's very definitely like
distinctly late seventies, early eighties.Yes, weirdness, Um, but it
looks really cool. I think it'svery interesting. The animation for Hans face
is just hilarious. He looks likea horse, Like, what is happening?

(36:58):
Well, Luke doesn't look much better. I think Luke looks the best
I know. It's been a watchingscene. I'm googling them right now,
hold on, hold on, it'sinteresting, um and then interestingly enough so
this, this particular animation style wasextraordinarily um. What's the word of looking?

(37:20):
Word influential to later animators, includingthe creator of the original Clone Wars
Jessie. I don't think he looksas Governor till on on. Oh,
you guys have to look up.It's a horse. He looks like a
horse. It looks horrible. Whatwere they think like? I think they
like Michael Jackson knows too. Theywere like caricaturing Harrison Ford's face, like

(37:45):
he's got a long face. Buthe's an incredibly good looking guy, so
it's okay. It looks really weirdin this for some reason. Give like
a really weird blonde wig. Ohyeah, no, wig was super weird,
but okay, Yeah, they's sofunny. So the way that three
Po appears in this cartoon is alsothe way he um, not completely,

(38:10):
but his look was influenced by thisin the original Clone Wars. Oh but
yeah, yeah, he was veryinfluenced by it. And he actually right
now, it's so funny. Ohit's so bad. It's so bad,

(38:30):
you guys, you have to eitherlike, let's watch it. Chebucca looks
like I don't know, ty bear, like they threw a Teddy Bear's thing.
Are a lion, I don't know. I absolutely love this. It's
very very it's interesting. It's veryinteresting to watch because it's nine minutes long.

(38:55):
It's nine minutes long. Please justwatch it. For which, speaking
of C three Po, I'm surprisedthat the Droints cartoon isn't on the vintage.
I'm very surprised about this too becausealso he um, it's similar,
it's a similar animation stuff. Yeah, and it really I enjoyed the Droint
series. I don't know if itwas like maybe from a different studio or

(39:15):
something, but I'm very surprised that'snot on there. Yeah, I don't
know. Maybe maybe eventually, maybethey're just gonna like slowly rolled it out.
Yeah, I don't know anyway.Um, so that leaves us with
the O G Clone Wars Clone Wars, the vintage two thousand and three Clone

(39:38):
Wars. That makes me so obsessed. Oh my god. Yeah. So
this came out when I was inhigh school and I was I was so
stoked, so stoked for this forthe for the three and a half minute
long episodes that was on Cartoon Networkdoesn't matter because it was Star Wars and
it was it was Star Wars.It would come on between like I think,

(40:00):
like Dexter's Lab and like something else, and it was literally like three
minutes long, and it would comeon like right at dinner time, at
least when I was eating dinner. So I would literally like stand in the
kitchen watch the short for three minutesand then go eat dinner. Yeah,
now, I remember that's what itwas. I remember watching like a whole

(40:20):
bunch of them. There was likea marathon of them, and sitting in
the there was a television in thenook off of the house that we always
rent to when we would go skiingin Canada, and I was just remember
my brother and I just like sittingthere pound egg cereal and watching. Yeah,
well so here, like so seasonone it's chapters one through twenty and

(40:44):
like three three and a half minuteslong each chapter. Or season two is
chapters twenty one through twenty five, and they're like eight minutes long ish each
eight to ten minutes long. Sothey clearly had a better you know,
I guess for not production value, but yeah, you know, they wanted

(41:05):
to do longer episodes. But altogetherit's like two hours long. It's so
cool. I loved it. Iloved I love first characters. You can
get through it fast. There's somebodybehind you. Ian was a little creepy.

(41:27):
Yeah, so it's it was II, yeah, that's my roommates
saying on my cat suddenly appear andI was like, oh okay, it's
my it's death has come to getme. Death has come to get you.
Where she wasn't wearing all blacks.Yeah, well that's fair. Uh

(41:47):
No, I love this was afun series. It's such a fun series.
I loved it. I really wishit happen longer and stayed around.
Um uh Guinea. Takakowski is justabsolutely brilliant. He is um He is
just the go to creator for UHCartoon Network. He's Behine. You know,

(42:07):
he's behind Samurai Jack Um. He'sworked on Cow and Chicken, Dester's
Laboratory. UM a bunch of ifyou're like if you were a nineties kid,
early two thousands kid, and thenyou watched all this guy's cartoons.
Yeah, and he's still he's stillmaking stuff. He actually UM is the
creator behind primal Um, which ison Adult Swim's current lineup, which is

(42:27):
really cool. He's the director ofHotel Transylvania. He's a director of Hotels
Translana. Yes, I did uslike the original one. I thought was
really really funny and I got akick out of UM. I never knew
that till about one of my cohortstold me and then I'm like he did
what Yeah, Yeah, So he'sa he's a cool guy, interesting guy.
I'm really glad they put up thisstuff, and I do hope that

(42:51):
we get more things. So it'sa heated debate. Do you like the
two D better or the three Dbetter? Oh? Well, I mean
I don't really think they're comparable.People think they are. On the Originally,
I was like I liked the twoD better just because I don't know

(43:16):
because it because it was the firstand I was really partial to it.
Um, But there's just there's somuch more lore behind the three D and
there. I mean, god,there's like it's a massive series. It's
a massive series. Yes, Imean I love elements of the two D,
but also the three D. Youget to have so many more so
much more detailed characters and environments andyeah, scenes that you can do.

(43:39):
I mean, like I said,it's just it's two hours. It's two
hours. You can't really compare them. I mean, I just don't think
you can. And you know,it'll always hold a special place in my
heart. But for me, it'sit's the three D one because without the
three D one you wouldn't have allthis lore and all these spin off series
we're having now. But to befair, without the two D one,

(44:00):
we wouldn't have the Yeah. SoI also feel like it's that it brought
in more interest and love for theprequels. I agree. For me,
it originally made me enjoy Anakin morebecause it did give him more depth,
even just this small amount of timewe got to see him, but we

(44:20):
got to see him more. Asyou know, this feared and powerful Jedi
that he was supposed to be correct. So I really liked I really liked
that we had a lot of coolum mace window stuff too, and venturous
yes, and it entered his venturous. Yeah. She was created for this

(44:43):
show. Yep, So you know, she said obviously, you know,
people listened to our show before. She's a huge, huge love for both
Chris and I, so you know, she was kind of waste in this
series, but she was still fun. Yes, uh, but yeah,
I I really do like the series. I'm glad it's on here again.
You know, it's a it's aquick watch to all these are quick watches,

(45:05):
a coup for the movies, andmovies like an hour and a half
ish, Yeah, and those kindof drag on, but you can just
put them on the background if you'redoing thing else basically, yeah, if
you're cleaning or something, you canjust randomly here, you know, wick
it say it's some human word andyou're just like, what the fuck.
Yeah, it's kind of like haveyou seen the video on YouTube of it
was one of the Pokemon movies theygot released in theaters where Pikachu finally spoke,

(45:28):
and it caught the audience by surprise, like complete and total shock and
like ashes like why don't you getyour poke ball? And then you hear
Pikachu go because, and then someone'srecording it, and then you hear someone
in the audience go, what thefuck? I'll do the video because it's
very funny. But it's kind oflike that when Wicked speaks, You're like,
I don't like this. This shouldn'tbe a thing. Yeah, if

(45:49):
that makes sense, but uh yeah. So Star Wars Vintage Collection. It's
now on Disney Plush. Watch iton your leisure watched all at once.
It could be a weekend thing.Honestly, it will leave you thoroughly convinced
that people during the seventies and eightieswere completely out of their mind, which
is, yes, what I havealways believed. Having not experienced any of

(46:14):
that, I am convinced that there'sa proven fact now proven factum. But
that about wraps us up here, guys, Chris one again. Where can
they find you? You can findme on Instagram at Chris Jaded and on
