(00:42):
All right, let's send him aback another dish. How we doing out

(01:26):
there? Good? Great? GrayYane dy yane, dy yane, puke
as you see you're screening your dial. However, you are choosing to join
me today. I know the castand crew of this film, thank you.
I don't necessarily do because I'm tryingto walk away from this show.

(01:46):
I'm kidding. I do appreciate thelove. I do. I love you,
the audience and the supporters. Idon't love the love. I know
that that doesn't make a lot ofsense, but neither do I who so
I do I love you, Butlike, it is so hard to walk
away from the show when you getdms and and just a steady stream of

(02:08):
compliments and uh yuh. I onlywanted to continue doing the show if I
was doing interviews with, you know, people from the cast and crew.
But if it's just gonna be me, it's gotta really be something that's off
the beaten path that I'm just likeeverybody needs to know about this kind of

(02:30):
like poor things, because I knowhalf my audience is very well aware of
poor things, and the other halfof my audience they think fast and the
furious is awesome. So I needto tell I'm not banging on Fast and
Furious. I mean I kind ofam, but like it. Fast and
the furious has a place in cinema. You know what I'm saying. It's
it's not for everyone. Just becauseit's not for you doesn't mean that it's

(02:51):
stupid. Okay, But I knowthe other half of my audience is you
know, Fast and Furious hair.Oh you're an opening day, so they're
probably you know, they need alittle nudge if they're gonna go see poor
things. This one supposed to havean interview, and I apologize to the
people that I actually told personally, but this is a This is the case
in point why I don't post thisshit on the internet, you know,
because then you look like a fool'syou know. It's so I didn't have

(03:14):
on my ig story or X orwhatever going to interview coming soon, because
then you look like a goddamn idiotwhen it doesn't materialize and no harm,
no fouls. Schedules didn't align, and that's that's all there is to it.
When you know the schedules don't materialize, then sometimes you just gotta hit
go baby, you gotta get hitgo. So I just it's just more

(03:36):
pleasurable to me if I'm talking abouta movie with someone as opposed to by
myself, unless I said, like, unless it's a movie off the beaten
path that I'm like, I knowhalf my audience needs to fucking hear about
this. So anyway, as yousee on your screen your dial, a

(03:57):
creature was stirring, A Creature wasstirring. Starring Chrissy Mets. This is
US American horror story The Last Og, Superstares, Stay Awake. Scout Taylor
Compton is Liz. I'm sorry.Chrisy Mets plays Faith. Scout Taylor Compton
is Liz. Obviously you know herfrom Rob Zombies, Halloween one and two,

(04:18):
The Long Night, The Texas ChainsawMassacre, Bury the Bride, Captive,
Edge of Sanity. They turned usinto killers, and I'm gonna butcher
this name. But until they startpaying me more, I'm not. The
minimal research will go into this show. That's why I don't edit the show.
That's why because listen that y' alldon't understand that to edit a thirty

(04:39):
minute show that's like two hours dependingon how well you want to do it,
I'm not I'm not doing that untilunless unless they paying me and I
get benefits not happening. So thereason I say that if I butcher some
of these names, it's just becauseyour boy just I this is this is
America. Fuck you pay me way. Annalise Baso maybe the Annalise Baso,

(05:05):
I hope, who plays Charm. She was in Captain Fantastic Ouiji, Origin
of Evil, underrated horror film.I might add Origin of Evil, snow
Piercer, the TV series slender Man, Electric Dreams, which is on Prime.
Also nobody's talking about that show.I thought that that was a pretty

(05:26):
goddamn good show. If you guysknow any of Philip Dick's work. She
was also a New Girl. Whoelse do we got? We got counter
Paolo who plays Corey. He wasin Stekland easily one of my favorite recent
vampire films maybe if maybe ever Steaklandone and two, fucking awesome World Trade

(05:49):
Center, Fire Island, Ambush,Electric Dreams as well, so Annalise Shit,
Annalise Analz Encounter, both coming offboth Electric Dreams alumni. He was
also in Gossip Girl and more andmore and more, and then you got

(06:09):
George Shiktel, Schictel, shistel shit. Who plays the I'm fired for my
own fucking show. Who who playsthe creature? In the crew? We
got production designed by Jeffrey mcclyde, normally a cinematographer. This actually appears to
be his first production design credit. If there's more, sir, I'm just

(06:31):
not seeing it. And like Isaid, minimal fucking research makeup artist.
We got Lori Carnes, who justdid Red Right Hand, which I believe
is a Nelms Brothers film. Thoseguys are just wonderful, gentleman to talk
to Russ Creek Wildcat The Walking Deadeven though she was uncredited. Special creature

(06:53):
effects A special creature effect, youknow, come on, if if practical
is gonna be in the film, chances are you boys going to be talking
about it? Special creature effects byIll Willed Productions. Ill Willed Productions creature
designers Tate Steinsieck, Steinsieck, SteinzickJesus Man s. I do not feel

(07:18):
good. If I'm just being honestwith you, I am sure. I'm
sure you probably tell that there's somethinga little wrong with my voice. I
just feel nobody cares. Nobody caresif you're sick. They just want fucking
content, And I just want totell you something. Art is not content.
Content is not art. Wait aminute, scratch one of those special
effects makeup and puppeteer David a greathouse key special effects makeup artist Ali Swift

(07:43):
who also worked on Stranger Things episodeor two. And then there's artwork throughout
the film not going to ruin anything. This is going to be spoiler free.
If I had the interview on obviouslywe do a deep dive and we
kind of pick things together. Butonce that fell through, Burt's back to
a spoiler free review. Baby. But anyway, there's artwork in this.

(08:05):
I'll just say charm is working ona graphic novel. We'll say anyway,
I thought the artwork and that wasreally good. And the artwork and it
was by Colin Thiel, Arned Rensmanand our writer Shannon Wells. I would
love to know which one she orhow many of them she was actually the

(08:26):
artiste on We Got Music by MatthewO'Malley. This appears to be his first
feature, and I thought he didgreat. Thought he really set the tone?
Did he not? For those thathad seen it? Did he not
cinematography by Alexander Chenichi Chanichi, Ihope. So I'm trying alex Alexander.

(08:52):
He's done banned a VHS eighty five, Nighthawks and more and more and more,
written by Shannon Wells and produced, edited and directed by Damien Leveck,
went from it from and again,I don't know, minimal research would indicate
to me, went from editor todirector, and he's edited a boatload of

(09:16):
things top Gear USA, Dark,Deadly and Dreadful, Asylum, Twisted or
in Fantasy. He actually did theCleansing Hour segment, Stars on Mars and
more and more and more, andjust so for all you want to be
filmmakers out there, if you wantto be a good director, fucking there's
no better place to start than beingan editor. Okay it to some degree,

(09:39):
editing is a film's media. Itmakes the film, you know what
I'm saying. If it doesn't,if there is a poor editor on a
film, it shows to people andthe to not only myself but the circles
that I run in. So you'reif you know how to talk to people,
if you start in editing, andthen you have even half of a

(10:05):
good uh uh. If you're halfas good as you are editing as you
are with people, you'll be afine director. I think. I think
it's a great place to start. So anyway, A Creature was stirring.
Ah, so I thought it wasa really good film. I really did.
I know, Like, and Igotta stop doing this thing. And

(10:28):
it's only being been recently. Like, if you go and you listen to
my other shows, you know I'mnot lying when I tell you I never
really well one. I don't doa lot of research because I don't unless
I'm getting paid and getting fucking dental. There's only so much fucking work that
I'll put in this show. ButI fucking hate the internet because I went

(10:48):
to read some of the reviews beforeI turned on the mics, and I
gotta fucking stop doing it because Iget all fired up and angry at these
people, and I swear i'm halfof them. I don't know what fucking
movie they watched. I really don't, because you just got people saying shit

(11:09):
that just don't make any sense. And maybe I'll get into that and I'll
shortly here. But I hate theinternet. But here's one of the reasons
why I hate the internet. Soif you because I know a lot of
you, which is I don't know, it annoys me and makes me happy,
Like I'm happy if I can doa film on my show and you

(11:30):
seek it out per my recommendation, that's awesome. I love that. That's
part in the part of the reasonwhy this show fucking exists is so that
you go and see films, youknow, outside of fucking Marvel and Star
Wars and everything. And it's notto say that those movies are shit.
That's not what I'm saying. I'mjust saying that you don't need me to

(11:50):
fucking tell you about those movies. They got their people right, right.
So you go to the internet andif you were to be like, oh,
well, fucking Sean said, let'scheck out creature is stirring, Well,
you're gonna get fucking several different synopses. Some of them I think allude
to too much, and then someof them just don't make any sense.
So let's do the allude to toomuch again. Spoiler free spoiler free review

(12:16):
gang you know, need to turnit down or anything. This is all
shit that you can see if youjust google a Creature was stirring. Okay,
So the one that I think Iwould have chose to use some words
differently or not use some words atall. As a Christmas the creature was
stirring as a Christmas blizzard rages outsideFaith. A nurse keeps her daughter Charm

(12:43):
locked in her room, injected withquote unquote yes this is real quote unquote
holiday cheer methodone yep, holiday cheermethadone to sustain a delicately balanced fever quote
unquote treatment. Delicately balanced fever treatmentfor a mysterious mysterious affliction. When drifters

(13:07):
Corey and Liz break in seeking shelter, they quickly discover that Faith's relationship with
Charm stretches the limits of dysfunction, and both of them are concealing the malevolent
Fifth. I'm sorry, gang,I'm sick. You don't care that I'm
sick. You just want fucking content. Fifth House guests alert, and I

(13:31):
hate that. This isn't content tome? If if this what and don't
get me wrong, this is almostlike the fucking bottom of the barrel definition
of art, bottom of the barrel, maybe even like scraping scrape in the
bottom. This is not content tome. If there is somewhat, and
not to my show, of course. But if you're a podcast, there's

(13:52):
an art to podcasting. Okay,I and just so are clear out of
the however many million podcasts that exists, ninety eight percent of them shouldn't because
you don't understand the art of talking. But this is not content, God
damn it. This is an art, not mine, but other people's,
other people the podcasts that deserve listen, Like I know movies and you don't

(14:16):
by Kyle Kyle brule. That's fuckingart. This is fucking at best.
Pry anyway. Fifth House guests lurkingin the shadows. A Fifth House guest
lurking in the shadows. This isit? This is in google able.
Hint, it ain't, Sanna. That's how that synopsis sounds. Some good

(14:39):
stuff in there in terms of maybepushing you over if you were on the
edge, and do I want towatch it? Do I not want to
watch it? Some good stuff inthere that you could pull away now U.
The one that annoys me. Theother synopsis, which is great,
like where you if you google creaturewas stirring and where it says about and
you got the IMDb score rotten tomatoesvoices from blah blah blah blah. Uh.

(15:01):
This is what it says right below. I don't know why I'm laughing.
It's not overly funny. There's justone thing in there that I'm like,
well, that's not true. Faithkeeps her daughter on a regiment of
experimental drugs to fend off a mysterious, terrifying affliction. When two burglars try
to rob their home on Christmas, they stumble upon their long kept family secret

(15:26):
with monstrous consequences. There's no burglarsin this film. None. So I
fucking I hate the Internet. Thatis why you see. The only shit
that I post is when I doa show, Like I'll post that I
did a show. I may,on occasion put something on my story that

(15:48):
would allude to possible shows coming up, Like I may put a fucking now
watching up. It's almost rest assuredI'm probably doing a show on that,
Like I don't just fucking post justthe post. Okay, I'm not one
of these. And it's always thefucking horror fans. You ever notice this?
The horror fans and I swear andI don't understand. I mean,
maybe my show is that fucking terrible, and I just need to fucking bite

(16:11):
the bullet and call it a day. But it's amazing to me that people
that just like post their movie collectionhave more followers than me. They don't
add anything, they don't add anythingother than I bought this look at it
with my movie collection as a backdropup. I'm gonna hold the film directly

(16:33):
in front of the camera, andthen behind that you're gonna see how many
movies I have, and then I'mgonna put fucking hashtag Army of Darkness and
it's gonna get fucking three hundred likes. That's not how I get that.
I know I should, That's howI if I want this, If I
do want to get dental out ofthis show, that's what I need to
do. But uh fuck, it'sjust nope. I'm just gonna post the

(16:55):
show and that's it. Now.The only time I actually do post a
picture with the movie that I'm promoting, or watching whatever front and center with
my movie collection in the backdrop iswhen I'm about to do a giveaway.
That is it. That is theend of the fucking list. Or if
somebody sends me something to watch likeI'll do that, but I never I

(17:18):
just it's wild to me. Youknow, we're pushing two hundred and fifty
episodes and there's you know, there'sIG Hooks or X Hooks out there that
got fucking fifteen thousand followers, andall they do is like, I love
horror. That's all they say, over and over again. They don't they

(17:41):
don't go into a fucking thirty minute, fucking monologue about it, but they
just go, I love horror, and they get fucking all the I'm bitter,
can you tell better? I'm justkidding. I'm not bitter. I
wouldn't be able to handle like Ialready can't handle the the the love that
I do get, I don't knowwhat to do it when I get fucking

(18:03):
forty five d ms that are likeblah blah, b I panic. I
don't know what to do with myhands. So it's listen. I just
I just don't understand, is whatI'm saying. But I don't understand the
Internet. The fuck you Google Acreature was stirring and you get fucking two
different, two different synopsis. Well, if it is it fucking burglars or
is it fucking drifters, because that'sto me, that's two different things.

(18:27):
Now, if they're there to burgle, it may then maybe Chrissy Metz and
uh Annalie's you know what, I'mgonna stop fucking butcher knees, then maybe
Faith and charm are gonna need tofight off these burglars. Wouldn't that be
something anyway? Back to I thinkI fucking spun out of control there as

(18:51):
I tend to do, back towhy I hate the Internet. I watched
or I looked at some of thecritic reviews before doing the show, and
I don't know, I gotta stopdoing that. And that's if you listened
to the show before, you'd knowthat's relatively recent, right am I am?
I lying? I'm not that I'llinexplicably look at critic reviews before I'll

(19:14):
get on the show, and thenI'll get all fired up, dude,
get all fired up and pissed off. And this one was no exception.
I read some of the the negativereviews on this and I was just like,
first of all, there's don't bea dick, and second of all,
you're not even being a dick forthe right reasons, Like you know
what, I'm not going to callanybody by names. I'm not going to

(19:37):
do that, but I did wantto read one that I wanted to dispute,
and let's see if I can dothis without fucking dead air ah.
So we'll just say some of itstretched around, some of it revolved around
the narrative and the budget. Sothe narrative in this film, again,

(20:00):
I will try my best to keepit spoiler free. I like the blending
of the narrative. I like theconfusion to a certain degree given its content,
given the context of the film,I don't want it to be cut
and dry, especially since we don'tunderstand the brain. And when you see

(20:22):
the film, you'll you'll you'll knowwhat I'm talking about. We barely understand
the brain. You think about howlong we've been studying it. And so
the narrative, this is the thingthat I got hung up on and I
was all pissed off about when Iwas reading some of the critic reviews.
Is I like the blending of thenarrative. The narrative. I don't need

(20:45):
something definitive as long as it works. Now, cast and crew, before
you think, is this guy bangingon us? No, I'm not.
Let's think of something so the mostobvious one is, you know, talking
about the ending, the ending, which I thought was great, but means
the obsession to need something definitive. The one I always cite is Inception.

(21:06):
Okay, people are like, oh, I didn't like it because it wasn't
it wasn't a definitive ending. Andthen there's multiple types of people. There's
the people that didn't like the endingbecause it wasn't definitive. The guy didn't
get the girl, the girl didn'tget the guy, and they didn't get
the money and snore. There's alsopeople that are like, I think it
fell. I think his totem fell. And then there's the other people that

(21:26):
are like, I didn't think offall at all. And then there's people
like me, I don't fucking careif it fell. Did you like how
we got there? All right? Then maybe it did fall, maybe it
didn't. I like it. Whenit's up to interpretation, similar to this
film, that maybe this is revealingtoo much, but I'm gonna do it

(21:48):
anyway. Is this a whore pieceor is it a drama? Or is
it both? Do I care?No? I fucking don't, because I
know that how upon the credits rolling, I felt satisfied with the product,
and that, you know what,I hate that that makes me sound like
corporate showing. I don't. I'mnot corporate try but I but I was.

(22:10):
I liked the movie. When itwas all said and done, I
was like, Hey, that's that'sa I like that take. I like
it. And occasionally it's okay ifthe symbolism is on the nose. Occasionally
that's okay. I don't know why. Ugh, you just can't fucking please

(22:30):
these critics. Man, first andforemost. If I didn't, if I
haven't said it already, I'm gonnasay it now. Making a movie is
a miracle. Don't shit on thepeople's hard work. That's thing number one,
Okay. Thing number two is,if it's so easy, why don't
you go do it? Oh,it is so easy. I got my
iPhone and I can go shoot awhole thing. Then do it. Do
it, get it made, fuckingget it distributed. Yeah, it's not

(22:53):
so fucking easy, is it.So have some respect, and and it's
not to say that shit movies donot exist. Okay. I just watched
The Ginger dead Man not too longago, and that movie is a fucking
mess. Like, yes, thisis my first time watching it. I
it's so funny. So this isthis true story in this It might have

(23:15):
been same day I can't remember inthe but definitely in the same week I
watched Uh, Poor Things and TheGinger dead Man. I think it was.
I can't remember the same day orthe same week. But think about
that for a second. You know, like it, it's not it's listen.

(23:36):
The point is is push yourself, okay, push your push yourself to
see things that on paper you maynot like. In fact, those some
of those are the first that Iseek out. I was like, hmm,
French drama from sixty seven that arrowsent me, I'm probably gonna hate
it. Well, let's press play. And most of the time I can't.

(23:56):
I didn't even hate The Ginger deadMan. It's just the most recent
thing where I was like oof,and there's parts of that stupid movie that
I like, and here it's nodifferent. A creature was stirring. I
hesitate to say that they were limitedby a shoe string budget, like one

(24:18):
of these assholes one of these assholecritics had mentioned, because like I think
the money was spent where it neededto be spent, and everything hinges on
the actors carrying the weight of thestory, which they do. I thought

(24:41):
I thought Chrissy Metz was really fuckinggood. I thought Annalise and Elise was
really good. I thought Scout TaylorCompton really good when it was interesting to
see her as a Bible banger too, but really good. But I thought
Connor Paolo really good. In fact, a little bit of levity in the

(25:06):
film, and there's virtually none,And that's fine with me. Again,
cast and crew, if you're listening, relax, I don't care that there's
you know, not tons of laughsin this one. I don't think there
needs to be. Now I willsay this, and this might be offensive
to the cast and crew. Ican't call this a Christmas classic for obvious
reasons. The reason why I can'tcall it Christmas classic you gotta have a

(25:27):
little fun on Christmas, right, you know, die hard Elf? Even
though ELF is so overrated. Ijust lost so many fans by saying that.
But yeah, you heard it herefirst. Elf is overrated. I
do not get the fucking It's fine, guys and gals, it's fine.
It's not fucking legendary. Christmas vacationis legendary lost more fans somehow, I

(25:52):
just lost ninety two percent of myfan base just by talking about Christmas movies.
But the reason why I can't callthis a Christmas classic is because,
man, some of those themes areheavy, are they not, especially someone
familiar with said themes. I'm notgoing to ruin anything for you, Gang.
It is a tough one. Itcan be a tough one. But

(26:18):
I thought, you know, whetherit's a horror film or a drama,
you know the the the how hardit is to deal with addiction, how
frail the human soul can be,the human mind can be. Or is

(26:41):
it just a straight up horror film? And there are some straight up horror
elements in this in fact one inparticular, Somebody Meets their Demise. And
I loved it. I loved thepractical effects. I thought the fucking creature
was spooky as fuck. I wasI was positive, Yeah, this is

(27:02):
this is what a fucking nerd Iam. I was pausing checking the details
on the fucking on the creature.I was loving it. I was loving
it, And I think maybe that'swhy, you know, some people didn't
know how to uh feel about it. But to me, you could say
that it's just a little on thenose, which is fine, Okay,

(27:26):
you know there's some, uh,there is some a lot of There are
more great things to gravitate towards onthis film than there are negative things.
And you see the derailed my wholeshow one. I was supposed to do
an interview, so I have thismore fucking detailed, this detailed uh thing

(27:52):
to talk about, and now I'mtrying to keep it spoiler free. And
I fucked up by reading critic reviewsbeforehand because I just get mad at people.
I get mad at people like especiallysince I think a lot of these
people that you did a review onthis film, I have to assume that
half of them either got a screeninglink or a Blu ray for free.

(28:17):
So now I'm pissed. Twofold, you're gonna shit on free art. You
got art and perspective, a differentperspective on say addiction, if I if
I may for free, and Iguess I just look at it like,

(28:38):
if you didn't like it, don'ttalk about it. There's already enough fucking
negativity on the internet, there reallyis, you know, don't talk And
if you got it for free, how dare you. You know, you
don't pay a fucking dime for somebody'swork, then you're gonna shit on it.
And there's nothing to ship on here. You know, Chrissy is pretty

(29:00):
big actress in her own right.Scout Taylor Compton kind of a known horror
figure, horror figure. I'm notcalling her a horror horror figure? Is
she not? Annalie's basso? Isshe not? You know, like the
counter Paolo, are they not?I mean, especially in the horror crowd.

(29:22):
You're gonna tell me you've never seenfucking Stekland. You're gonna tell me
you never seen rob Zombies Halloween oneand two. So those are the performances
that you get out of this,And I think it holds the weight of
what the film is about. Theyhold the weight very well. They don't
buckle under it. I don't know. I shouldn't have Now I'm all fucking

(29:44):
discombobulated because I shouldn't have read thatshit beforehand. I thought that the the
idea of it was pretty big. It's it's it's it's a pretty big idea.
And I think how Damien went interms of executing it, thought it

(30:07):
worked really well. There's some reallyfucking good sequences in this. There's some
insane cinematography in this, just thatto some degree I hadn't seen before.
I'm telling you, I hadn't aperson who has seen more movies than you,
including probably the cast and crew.I'm sorry, cast and crew,
but I have. I've probably seentwice as many movies as you have.

(30:30):
I think I saw something that I'dnever seen before. And if the crew
is listening, I'll just say, when Faith comes down the stairs and she's
on the hunt, so she comesdown the stairs, we see, I
believe, the dining room, inthe kitchen, how we chose to light
that, how we chose to shootthat visually, and how we presented it

(30:56):
to the audience. I thought itwas great. I thought it was great
and that. And for those ofyou who listen to the show, you
know, I don't just say thatshit. I mean, I typically don't
come on the show and I shiton things. But like, I don't
know, like if it was likebad, like bad bad, you can
tell. You can tell when Igot on the mic if I didn't particularly

(31:18):
care for it. Not so hereI thought. And another thing too,
how can you the way that thisfilm moves the way that Damien chose to
execute Shannon's screenplay. It doesn't slowup. It is one thing after another,

(31:38):
and in a society where you know, our attention spans can only be
measured in nano seconds, I thinkit works. It doesn't feel confusing,
which seems to be a fucking runningtheme throughout the critics. Oh, it's
kind of confusing. Nah. Nah. In fact, if it was trying
to if that, and I'm surethat they would disagree. But if they

(32:00):
were trying to confuse me, youdid a poor job. Because you didn't.
I thought it was pretty on thenote. And there was another one.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
