Speaker 1 (00:00):
Entertainment show. More to entertainment and what's on the screen,
connecting dots on what you see.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Welcome back to the Entertainment Zella's meet Paul amade Is Lane.
You're a hostess with the mostest hope. You enjoyed my
chat with the amazing the legend herself, Marshall Warfield and
also Eden Cherr about their appearance on a recent episode
of Night Court. Now we're going to be talking with
Sarah Garcia. She stars as Jennifer Morales on The Hunting Party.
(00:30):
It's a high concept crime drama about a small team
of investigators led by former FBI profiler bex Henderson, who
have been a symbol to track down and capture the
most dangerous serial killers in the world that the world
(00:50):
has ever seen, all of whome have just escaped from
a top secret government prison that's not supposed to exist.
Conspiracy theories the series, we'll have viewers on their edge
and just wondering, Wow, what's going on as the stakes
(01:12):
rise and the hunt intensifies each episode. It's a fast
paced show, I'm telling you, with some crazy twists and
I am so delighted to have with me right now.
The beautiful the amazing Sarah Garcia. Hey, Sarah, how are you.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I'm good, how are you doing? Great?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
So great to chat with you about your new character
and this amazing show. So talk about Jennifer Morales. What
can you tell us about her?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Jennifer Morales is an intelligence officer. She's a major in
the military. She is Bex Henderson's former student at Quantico,
and from my perspective, Morales really looks up to Becks.
She views her as a mentor. She's intrigued by profiling
(02:02):
and maybe even wants to do a career shift into profiling.
I think we get to see a little bit of
that in later episodes where she's sort of leaning on
Odell and Bex as they navigate a tag team, and
she's pretty much in awe of them and really really
(02:23):
interested in this line of work. She's she's optimistic, she's
talented and smart, and I think maybe she's the only
trustworthy member of the.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Team, and you know it's Sarah. That's one thing that
I admire about your about your character being that optimistic person,
especially in this line of line of line of of
duty with this team. And what are some things you
had to do to kind of prepare for this role.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, I well, I was really lucky. I'm really lucky
that my brother was in the Canadian military, and so
he gave me a lot of cointers and was an
invaluable resource to me of sort of just sort of
explaining and describing what her trajectory for her career would
have looked like and how she would have been able
to get to the rank of major at so young.
(03:15):
And he provided me a lot of workouts, and so
I worked out a lot and I and I really
relied on my first person resources and people who lived
that life to help shape who she was for me.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
And Sarah, when you when you look at your character,
what is one thing you like for for us as
the audience too, to take away from from from your
character and some of the things that we can look
forward to in your character arc as we move forward
in the series.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
M I think something to watch out for with Morales
is is the the care that she brings to her
job and to the people. I think we get a
glimmer of that in episode two and she checks on
Hasani after he's been injured. She she's very dedicated to
(04:14):
her job and her her motives for doing that is
is really to help make the world a better and
safer place, and and we do get to see that.
We get to see that in episode nine, and how
these events and these killers affect her. She is, she's oh,
(04:39):
and we get to see this really fun relationship building
between her and Odell. We get to see her sort
of pulling him out of his shell. She's she's light hearted,
and she's kind of a poky little sister and and
I think that'll be fun for people to watch too.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
And so what's the most challenging part of playing Morales?
Do do you find a little bit of your own
personality in this character or what are some of the
things you have to do in some of those challenging
instances when you play Morales?
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Totally?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I think in all my roles, I like to insert
little pieces of myself into my characters, and this one
was no exception. I remember coming to set a few
times just thinking I'm gonna just be my weird, kind
of energetic self and see what happens. And I think
(05:35):
that the writers they saw that, and they sort of
incorporated a little bit of me into her. And I
think we get to see that in episode three especially
when she's laser focused and trying to track down a
certain piece of information. And then in far as challenges go,
(06:00):
you know, I had I had never really worked in
this capacity in a in a bullpen with all the
coms and all the tech, and so I was really
excited to learn how all of this worked behind the scenes,
with with how to use a green screen and you know,
how how do we talk to each other if we're
(06:22):
on the phone and uh, and it was really fascinating
to see how different directors approached those those scenes when
when O'Dell and Morales are are chatting to the team
on the plane, that was really cool. That was really
cool for me.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
It's interesting how technology has really changed the game when
it comes to production. That green screens and all these
other things. It's pretty really amazing.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
And facts, the robots in the first episode they're real.
There's a really that's a real robot.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
My goodness. I just came back from CEES in Vegas,
the super Bowl of Technology, and I've seen some robots,
and to see it on screen now, it's like, it's
like pretty amazing.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
It is amazing. It is amazing what we can do.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
And Sarah, are we going to see Morales's character kind
of lose her optimistic kind of attitude when when when
some hard times may hit the team or something and
she has to kind of get back to her core
of who she is.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
That's a really, really good question. I think we do
get to see her being deeply affected. She's somebody who's
extremely professional and really carries this air of professionalism no
matter what she's dealing with. But there is definitely a
(07:50):
case in episode nine that hits very close to home
for her, and we see how her that mask that
she's kind of put on cracks a little bit, but
it doesn't deter her. And I think that's one of
the beautiful things about her is that she's doing this
(08:12):
to help people, and she hangs on to that moral
compass all the way through.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
And Sarah, is there one episode that you would like
for us to really pay attention to as it really
shows off your amazing acting, Chops, but not only that,
just Morales's character in a way that you're like, after
you shot it and watched it, you're like, there.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
It is, yeah, episode nine. Yeah, I think episode nine
is really where Morales shines. We get to see her
interacting in a way that we haven't before, and she
gets this really beautiful moment with Bes where there's this
like full circle mentormentee situation that happens. I'm really excited
(08:58):
for people to see that one that they'll they may
fall in love with her.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
That's amazing. And Sarah, I am so happy to see
you in this project and following me for for many
years and different different shows and everything, and you really
got some amazing acting chops and looking forward to catching
up with you and talking about this series even more.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Really enjoyed adding with the amazing, the beautiful Sarah Garcia
about her character, Jennifer Morales, and just how her character
if you watch the show, remember Jennifer wasn't on the pilot,
so she was at it later and doesn't she fit perfectly.
If you haven't watched the show, you definitely I know
(09:41):
what I'm talking about. Pay attention to those episodes that
she were talking about too, about what her character and
definitely to what to look forward to and looking forward
to catching up with Jennifer. I'm sorry Sarah again too
to talk about Jennifer Morales, whom she plays. I do
that all the time. Called people who they play. I'm
telling you y'all, the struggle is real. You're feeling me.
