the awesome Marsha Warfield.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I am with the comedic legend, the amazing actress herself
from the South Side of Chicago. Great to talk with
her again, the amazing Marsha Warfield. Marsha, how are you.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I'm fine.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
I'm just looking around to see who you're talking about
right now.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I'm talking about you and how amazing you are.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I remember last time we chatted on an episode you
were on earlier this season and you say, Hey, I
would like to have a chance to talk with you again.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I had no idea I was going to talk.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
To you again, So I'm like, amazing, we are, absolutely,
you know. I just want to let you know I
got a chance to check out the episode. And whenever
you are on that set, on that stage, it is
just like a It takes me back to the first
iteration of night Court, and especially when you and Dan

(03:37):
kind of get into it a little bit, that that
is just like comedic gold.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
It's like that for you too. Well.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
You know, it's almost like it's almost like home, like
when you go visit the kids and you go back
to the old house. You know, it's very comfortable and
they always treat me well, and I have no complaints
I just hope, you know, with the with the cast

(04:05):
and crew they have that I can always or at
least sometimes rise to the occasion because that's pretty stellar company.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Well, you definitely do. You know, it's like you never
left the set, and it's just amazing. It takes me
back to a great, great time when I was younger,
and when you when you look at whenever you're asked
to be a part of any episode, what are some
of the things that you have to do now to
prepare for it, Because it's a couple of decades, three

(04:35):
decades or so after Ross left the show and she
comes back, So what are some things you have to
do to kind of make your character authentic but still
also current to the time.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
I don't really think about that, you know, I am
as Rise. We're both older, and we're both you know,
still they're relatively healthy and kicking it, and so.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I just show up. You know. Really, it's it's.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Almost I don't know how to put it.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
It's so comfortable. The production is so well oiled.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
You know, the machine runs great that I just you know,
how you get a new pair of shoes and you
step into them and they fit because they're the same
shoes kind of shoes you've been wearing. I mean it's
that it's that kind of comfort level and everybody is
just fun to work with.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
It definitely comes off that way.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
And in this actually episode, in particular the season one
of the season finale episodes, it was one one scene
where where where old Rads and and and Dan kind
of have the interaction we see all the time in
the first iteration, and I was senter.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
There, like, man, I want to see more of that.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Because one thing about you and John when when you
and John would would have these magic moments on the set,
it was just like one of those things where you
you know that type of person who has the same
personality as John is, and you you have to sit
them straight some time and kind kind of kind of
get them on the straight and narrow. And that's what
I always love about about that type of interaction. I

(06:24):
hope we get a season four and we see more
of that. We got to have you and Dan, you know,
do you do you think even more?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Well?

Speaker 4 (06:31):
You know that's how I knew I had the job
the first time around. You know, they were still feeling
their way out, you know, coming off the tragedy of
the first two bailiffs, Selma and Flow passing Away and
the cast. One of the things that struck me was
how affectionate they were. They were actually grieving, you know,

(06:55):
and and I don't know if I was expecting that.
You know, when you work in an environment sometimes it's
pretty impersonal and even a tragedy can be.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Accepted and we move on.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
But no, they were still grieving, and so we had to,
you know, find our footing.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
And then they did.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
They gave me the scene in the elevator with Dan
and I got to smack him and that's when I
knew I had the job.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
That was amazing in this particular episode in this season finale,
you know, we can say it was kind of like
a pastor Torch moment with you and you and Lacreta.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
And did you feel it It was kind of kind
of like that moment.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Well, yeah, you know, and I had been in that
mode from the beginning. It's her role, this is her show,
it's not my show. All props praised to her. But
to have a moment where I tell her you got this,

(08:03):
you got this, and to have it received as it was,
that was that was pretty special.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Yeah, And she she's pretty amazing too.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Have I had an opportunity to chat with her a
couple of times, and did you know she's an avid
game or two?

Speaker 4 (08:18):
She did my podcast and yes, we talked about that
a lot.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah, it's funny. When I chatted with her, I always
like to make fun.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Of her because she always gets scared when she's gaming,
and her reactions are just amazing.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Are you a game or two more? Shall not anymore?

Speaker 4 (08:35):
I used to be you know, early days, early early days,
misspac Band and all that kind of stuff, and moved
up to.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
What was that playing the SIMS.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I played the SIMS five four or five generations and
the last game I got into, tell you how long
ago was Gabriel Night, and that was the last one
I really got immersed in, and I was very upset
when that series ended.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Yeah, now I totally get Well, we got to get
you back gaming again, Marshall. I'm a I'm an avid
PS five gamer, so we gotta we gotta get your
gaming again. But but but before I let you go, Marcia,
what has been kind of like your your your thoughts
on just being in this iconic franchise, not only the

(09:29):
original one, but also this continuation. What are some of
the things that go through your mind every time you're
asked back, Hey, Marsha, we want you to come back
as Rise.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
What kind of goes to your mind?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Oh, you know, if it was a song, it would
probably be if they could see me. Now, I mean
it's it's I'm pretty lucky.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
You know, I'm not the spring Chicken.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
I took almost twenty years off and came back and
to still.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Have people want me.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
To be part of their production is a blessing I
cannot take for granted.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
And I am very grateful.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
That I've been in three finales so far out of
three seasons.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
That ain't a bad batting average right there.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
It's sure they just got to come on put a
ring on it to bring you back.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
You know, Hey, you know I'm ready.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
You know, if somebody gets on one knee, i'd marry.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Now. I'm with you on that. And Marsha is always
great catching up with you and talk with you. It's
really an honor to have you with me and talk
about your rollas Raz and also coming back on the
show in different different episodes.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
And before I let you go, why don't you plug
your podcasts out? There. Okay, I'm gonna plug two things.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
My podcast is Midnight into marsha Verse, where we get
together at midnight once a week and chill and just
have fun. This week guests is Anna Maria Horsford and
you know, I get to hang out with my old
friends and I'm at the Ice House in Pasadena Mother's
Day at three o'clock.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
So if you, if you.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Got a mom, if you want to find an adopter mom,
if you just want to honor the woman in your life,
come and spend a Sunday in the marsha Verse at
the ice House on Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
That is so awesome.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Marshall, thank you so much, sending you a great big
virtual hug and hopefully we get a chance to do
it again.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Back at you and thank you all the best for you. Honey.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Really enjoyed chatting with Marshall Warfield. I mean, she is
just an amazing person. Her character rise is just wow.
And see how Lacreta being the new bailiff, my good
friend Lacreta who's a gamer as well, and it's just
that you could enjoy that that episode. The episode actually

(11:58):
comes on at eight o'clock Eastern Pacific and seven pm
Central time. See, I always get the time zones mixed up,
especially like if I have talked to some of my
colleagues like overseas.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I mean, oh, you can forget about it. It's all
I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
But hey, until next time, do me a favor. Stay healthy,
stay safe, and remember I love you all the life.
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Each averaging the team is showing more than the team.
And then we're on the screen connecting dots on what
you see.
