Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hey, everybody, welcome to today's show. Welcome to Equality and
Rights for role. I'm your host, Anthony Larrito Duke. We
have a very interesting topic for today's show in which
it is with Democrats in Washington, d C. In both chambers,
the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, what

(00:38):
they really need to do in order to get voters.
So let's get right into this. You know, the Democrats
have been doing a lot of work. Okay, a lot
of people out there saying Democrats have not been doing
a lot they should be doing more. And there's a

(00:59):
lot of internal fighting within the Democratic Party. So let
me just say number one in regards to the internal fighting,
stop acting like a bunch of effing babies. Take your hand,

(01:24):
shove it up where the sun don't shine, pluck out
your brains and start to use intelligence and professionalism and
maturity for once in your lives, and stop acting like
a bunch of damn babies. Stop the baby mama drama,

(01:52):
or as the old saying goes, save the drama for
your mama. Now, second part, what should the Democrat to
be doing in order to really gain more voters? Okay,

(02:12):
Number one, they've been doing a lot already. They haven't.
They've been standing up to the Republicans, especially a certain
person who should remain nameless, you know, and we all
know who I'm talking about, okay, and they have been

(02:37):
standing up to them. These Republicans are procrastinating to the
last minute and rushing everything through, rushing everything through. Granted,
things shouldn't be procrastinated or you know, for years and

(02:57):
years and years, granted, but there's rushing right through without
letting Democrats know things. These Republicans are doing everything behind
closed doors and rush rush, rush, rush, rush room. Seriously, seriously,

(03:19):
come on and then and then these uh a lot
of these Republicans are mag of Republicans, by the way,
and they're not even telling the other regular Republicans what's
in the bill because everything is rush room, Russia, rush, rush, rush,

(03:41):
rush right now, now now. And they're not even able
to to read the full bill, you know, because the
bill could be like one thousands of thousands of papers long,
and they're not even giving anybody time to read it,
to read them. But if the shoe is on the

(04:02):
other foot, whoa, whoa. And here's another thing that Democrats
can do. They can turn to the Republicans and say, listen, well,
as far as deportations are concerned, let's really work together, okay,

(04:28):
to ease things up on the immigration courts. Number one,
Stop Ice or whatever other people that they send into
to go and grab these immigrants. While these immigrants are
at the immigration courts and say, they say to the Demo,

(04:49):
they say to the Republicans, listen, stop going after the
ones that are doing the right thing. Stop going after them.
Stop it. Stop going after those if you want to
go after the ones that are not doing the right things,
believe the alone the ones that are doing the right

(05:14):
thing seriously, and they can work together. So Democrats need
to push for that. Okay, do we have to protect
our borders. Absolutely, there's no denying that. Democrats can say, Okay, listen,

(05:37):
we'll work together with you. We'll come to common grounds
on things right and to really work together, to really
work together. Now, what else can the Democrats do? Democrats

(06:07):
can turn around and keep proving They've been proving it already,
but keep on proving about the cuts the Republicans are
doing to food stamps, to Medicare and to medicaid. Keep
proving all that, keep proving it also the Democrats can

(06:33):
use the tariffs, the tariffs that the Republicans, especially you
know who have created, and it's harden the American people. Seriously,

(06:58):
you can use all these things to really boost up
the Democrats now. But people say that, well, Democrats have
not been making a stand against the Republicans. That's a
bunch of bs. It's a bunch of bs. You've been
seeing it left and right that a lot of the

(07:20):
Democrats have been getting arrested because they've been facing they've
been going to these public hearings that some of the
Republicans are having. Okay, they've been seeing it left and right.
The Democrats have been getting arrested trying to protect immigrants

(07:41):
from ice, Okay, especially those who have been protecting the
immigrants that are going that are the ones that are
doing them right there and going to their immigration court
hearings and stuff like that and whatever else. You know,
the Democrats have been standing up for them. The Democrats

(08:03):
have been standing up for them. So people can't say
the Democrats haven't been doing anything. Don't say that because
it's not correct. Democrats have been doing a lot of
damn good work. They just need to get the recks
together and stop the baby mama drama. So but anyways,

(08:28):
I want to remind all my fans out there about

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
