Speaker 5 (02:27):
Oh well, thanks for having me on. Yeah, football seasons
right around on the corner.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
I know, it's very exciting.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Look, college football had its most interesting people come out
in twenty twenty five. The burning question that I want
to know, did you make the top twenty five most
interesting people in college football?

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Matt never, not even close. I was pretty much Matt
Dole was my last name, balk. They are exciting today.
I mean college football has changed so much.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yes, it has. It is. I thought you'd be there.
I didn't know that that happened.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
So exciting matchup between two former conference opponents coming up
between Utah and UCLA here at the end of the
month over Labor Day weekend. What's the vibe in Los
Angeles about this game? About this the meaning of it,
the start of the season. What are folks feeling down there.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Well, I mean, I think it's a really big game
for both schools. Both schools didn't finish last season the
way they wanted to. You know, if it was a
surprise season for Utah, to be honest with you, because
they'd had so much success. So I think UCLA feels
that way too, coming off a five and seven season
where they had a couple of games they thought they
could have won. And this game, I'm going to be

(03:42):
honest with you, I think it's pretty pivotal for both programs.
Whoever's going to get this win. Ucla they don't have
as hard as schedule as they had last year, but
this opener for UCLA is going to be very important
to get on the win column, especially with their new
quarterback Nico Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, I wanted to talk about Nicole a La mala Ava.
I'm curious what's been kind of his I guess in
doctrination into UCLA. Was it surprising to you at all
that he landed at u c l A or he
had such an abrupt departure from Tennessee, but in a

(04:20):
very short period of time he lands with the Bruins.
What's been the vibe with him, what's been your kind
of year takes so far.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Well, if you talk to the Maliava family, I mean,
he really wanted to come back home and it was
just stressful, you know, being in Tennessee, getting his family
out there every week to watch him play, or wherever
he was on the road coming back home. You know,
it's pretty simple transition. I don't think, you know, it
was anything that people were training about the money and

(04:49):
stuff like that. It was just a kid that wanted
to play in front of his family and a home crowd,
and UCLA was a perfect fit. And also for his brother,
Let's not forget his brother's there Madden and he's a
true freshman, and he looked really good.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
You bring up a point, you know, I think a
lot of people think, oh, it's just about money, you know,
it's all it's all of this stuff. I was talking
with Maurice Jones Drew yesterday on our program, who has
a son who's being recruited right now, And it seems
to be I don't know if it's a trend or
not a trend, but it seems to me maybe the excitement,

(05:25):
the shiny new object of nil maybe be where it
might be wearing off and maybe it is more about
being around your family. Maybe it is more about where
you're playing the opportunity as opposed to, Hey, where's the
biggest dollar amount and I'm I go and am I
going there? Do you sense that that might be the
case at all?

Speaker 5 (05:44):
Well, I think in Nico's case, you know, that was
probably what happened. But I think Nil, I you know,
colleges are really having to adjust as an NFL team now.
I mean, you know, you're paying playing just about everybody
two hundred, two hundred fifty thousand dollars, you know, the
second of stirn string guys, And what happens is they
don't want to practice if they want to go to

(06:04):
a Meetian, I mean, are you going to dock them
you know money or I mean that's where it's coming
to right now. And it's really changing college football in
terms of you know, it's not or put it this way,
you're never going to have a career record broken in
college football again because everybody's going to keep changing because
of the money and and hopefully it goes back where

(06:26):
you're at the grassroots. You want, you want to stay
at a program, you want to be in front of
your home crowd. But I do think money is really
the driving force in college football.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
UCLA changes conferences.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Of course. Utah was a recent addition to the Pac twelve.
We we liked being there with you. Did we not shower?
Did we have bad breath? What was it that caused
the break up between us? I'm curious.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Well, I think Utah was really smashing the teeth in
of U C.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
L A.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
They had a lot of I mean, Kyle Whittingham's one
of my favorite coaches, and you know, I'm one of
those people that wish the Pac twelve was still there
in Utah and UCLA played every year. I mean it's
great going up to Salt Lake City and playing Utah.
They have a great crowd, sell out every time. I'm
sort of sad it's gone. But I'll tell you what.

(07:19):
Utah had a lot of success against UCLA. And that's
why this game is so important. Is it the old
Utah that's going to come out and, you know, beat
up UCLA and be very physical. They're saying, this is
a really good football team and it's going to be
a tough opponent for UCLA to start out with.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah, I missed it two.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
I just the PAC twelve was such a great conference,
and it was such a great geographic you know, the
thing here in the western part of the country.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
What's what's been the.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Kind of the I don't know what's been your take
on the first year in the Big twelve or the
Big ten, because the thing for me, when I first
heard all of this, of course, I was massively disappointed
by it, But I'm like that travel is going to
be brutal, Like that's just that's just.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
That's just going to be a hard thing.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
What has been kind of your assessment of the transition
to the Big Ten?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Well, summing up, the shortest flight for UCLA on the
road last year was Washington. Going to Seattle used to
be the longest flight, all right, going to play at
Penn State. As broadcasters, we fly in commercially. We flew
in to Philadelphia, got in a car, drove two and
a half hours to Harrisburg, spent the night in Harrisburg,

(08:34):
woke up in the morning two hours to college station,
play the game, and then have to go four hours
back to Philadelphia, go to bed, and catch an early
morning flight back home on Sunday. That's the difference between
the Pac twelve and the Big ten.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Spending a night in Harrisburg is about like a month.
Like it's it's not a not my favorite city in
the world. Yeah, I'm curious, it'll be it'll be fascinating
to see how it moves forward. Well, to talk a
little bit about this team, you know, you mentioned Utah
and we're a little shell shocked right now from the
last couple of years. Really, I mean, I thought we

(09:11):
would have our quarterback Cam rising back. Of course he
gets injured in a freak, freak injury in a preseason
game or non conference game. And it was just a
tough year last year, and a lot of new additions
to the program this year, I mean the quarterback, the coordinator,
forty new players into the program. So there's a lot
of unknowns at Utah. What do you know about UCLA

(09:34):
right now and their football program.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Well, I know the quarterback position has been solidified, that's
one thing. But Deshaun Foster in the second year really
changed over the entire offensive staff except Jerry Neuheisel, the
tight end coach. So you have a whole new scheme
being implemented and I really like it. What they're doing
at UCLA and also the way they're practicing. Going out

(09:59):
to practice watching him just a week ago, it's a
lot eleven on eleven game situations on the goal line.
It's very up tempo. To Shaun Foster, he seems very
comfortable in his second year as the head coach of UCLA,
and he's very good at relating to the players and
being in the nil and transfer portal world. I think

(10:20):
he's really good at it. But I just see the
team a little bit more ready to play and start
the season as compared to last year because Deshaun Foster
he took over, you know late, he didn't he wasn't
able really to put together the staff he wanted. Everything's
just different. It's a really good five Ucla. Just like Utah.

(10:42):
They had forty two players transfer in. There's a lot
of people that you don't know, but there's a lot
of bigger people. And then they've got a couple of
guys to rush the passer on the edge. Anthony Jones
is one of them, and that was a really important
position that they needed to have being at They lost
their edge rusher last year.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
You talk about a lot of players coming in and
It's always a question for me, like, realistically, with that
many new players coming in, can you start the season
off or does it take some time? Do you have
to get guys kind of up to game speed? You know,
there's one thing about practice, but to really get game
speed ready in a new system, something that you're maybe

(11:26):
not familiar with. What's a realistic expectation for a team
to with the transfer portal and having all these new
guys come in every year.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
Well, just think about the NFL. I mean the NFL,
they have many camps, they have preseason games. You know,
they practice longer prior to the season.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I mean when you.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
Think of college football, you basically have twenty days with
a new football team to get them ready to play.
And I think coordinators are now adapting to that fact.
You've got to be pretty simple to start the season
and then add more to your offense as the season
goes along. I think the beginning of college football can
be a little bit floppy. You don't have that many

(12:07):
returning starters, a lot of guys that don't play well together,
and you just have to adapt and accept that fact.
You can't implement a lot offensively. And I'm going to
predict that there's going to be a lot more running place,
to be honest with you, because the passing game is
a little bit more complicated. I think if you can
run the ball early on to start the season, I

(12:28):
think you're going to find some success. And also just
be really tough on defense. I mean, I think at
the beginning of the season that defense can win a
lot of games.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
You mentioned Deshaun Foster and you know, kind of him
leaning into nil and some of this stuff, and I
know he's been vocal about saying that you know, you
can turn a program around, and you look at some
of the examples of people that have been able to
make some significant changes. You know, he mentioned Dion sand

(13:00):
in Colorado. And what's kind of been the feeling of
DeShawn He's a former player. Is he a coach that
can last long term and really really make a huge
difference at UCLA?

Speaker 5 (13:15):
Well, first of all, I mean he's a player's coach.
I mean he relates to the players really well, and
in this new age to call a foot college football,
that's very important. But Sean Foster is also an icon
e C.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
L A.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
I mean, he was one of the greatest running backs
to ever play and be a bruin. But in that
same respect, he's he's a hard ass. I mean he's
really tough on his players. They have expectations. He's tough
on his coaches. He's a guy that's very organized. He
gets up early in the morning, he starts his day

(13:50):
before everybody else. He's organized. I think Deshaun is going
to be around for a while. I really do think
that in today's age, he's the perfect coach for u
c l A. I mean U c l A in
a big city, I mean, you got to have some
star attraction, and just to Sean Bean himself is the
star attraction.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
But he has the.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Respect of his players. I mean they listen to him. Uh,
and so do his coaches. They understand his mission. I
think they're gonna I mean, everybody's gonna find out that
Shaun fosterd for real.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
It seems like he's said he's got a good vibe
going there. And you know, U c l A is
such a great uh sports brand. You know, just the
you know that it's in Los Angeles, that you played
at the Rose Bowl, that just just the whole, the
whole coll I love, I love the brand. Of you
u c l A uh and and it feels like
it's kind of I don't know, from the outside, it

(14:46):
feels like, you know, is there really a concerted effort
uh from folks in the in the school and to
be great and it just seems like it's almost like
a sleeping giant in some regards. Do you get a
sense that with this move to the twelve and kind
of some of these changes that happened that the school,
the administration is really behind making UCLA competitive and a

(15:10):
team that can compete for championships as opposed to, hey,
we're just happy.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
To be here.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
I mean UCLA has always been, you know, at the
top for national championships for all sports, women's and men's,
you name it. I mean they're either number one or
at Stanford. You're competing with Stanford, So that's not an issue.
I think football has been an issue going to the
Big Ten. I mean, you are now facing some really

(15:37):
tough opponents. I mean, just for one of those opponents,
this is Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State. I mean, there's
some giants out there and UCLA football, you know, has
them been to the Rose Bowl in a long time?
And they haven't had a conference championship, so the fan
base is just waiting for that to happen. I mean
basketball Ucla always seems to be good, but football has

(15:58):
sort of lagged behind. And those expectations now are really
beginning to set in for U see La fans.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
We we like to come to the Rose Bowl, like
we whether it's a regular season game. And I know
it's different during the regular season game course, you know,
but the Rose Bowl, just the actual like bowl game
was just incredible for Utah fans. But a regular season
game at the Rose Bowl, to me is very cool.
I got like, like, we we get excited, the players

(16:28):
get excited to do that. Does it ever get old
for players at UCLA? Does it ever get how home?
You know? I remember playing in the NFL with Barry
Sanders and you'd watch these incredible runs and you'd just
be like, yeah, that's just kind of another run from
you got used to it. It got it got kind
of every day. Does do you ever just get used
to playing in the Rose Bowl every week as a

(16:50):
as a UCLA Bruin?

Speaker 5 (16:53):
I don't think so. I mean, even in today's age,
these young players are getting paid and transfer port and
all that. I mean, going to the Rose Bowl is
so exciting. I mean you just think of the Rose
Bowl game itself, and that is such a magnificent day.
It seems to always be sunny. I don't think it
ever has rained during a Rose Bowl game. And playing

(17:13):
in that stadium, you know, every other week during the year,
you take a lot of pride in it. I mean,
I know as a former UCLA player that we were
very excited about the move. I mean you talk to
the players before me that were sharing the call of
team with USC and that never felt like home. But
the Rose Bowl does feel like home. And again you

(17:34):
just reflect on that one big game at the end
of the year, and that's the stadium you're playing in
for every home game. I think UCLA players take a
lot of pride in it.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
How do you see this.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
First game playing out between Utah and UCLA? What kind
of games do you think this is going to be.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
It's gonna be a flug fest. I mean, Kyle Whittingham's team,
I mean, it's just it is what it is. I mean,
it's going to be very physical on the offensive or
on the line grimmage. I think the offensive line of
Utah is very very good, if not one of the
best offensive lines in the country. I mean the quarterback position.
I think UCLA might have an edge in that. You know, uh,

(18:12):
Nico il Malaiava played at Tennessee and has some really
big game experience. You know, Utah they're going to be,
you know, coming in a little bit untested, you know,
in a big game atmosphere with their quarterback. But I
do see Utah's defense being physical. Ucla is going to
have to run the ball to get a win, and
I think Utah, you know, that's the game plan, run

(18:35):
the ball. I don't expect this to go it over,
you know, twenty one points by either team. I think
it's gonna be very low scoring and the defense is
going to win.

Speaker 8 (18:46):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Do you like games like this?

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Do you like the kind of higher profile non conference how?
How are you about the non conference schedule just in general?

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Well, I think it sucks when you know, all these
bighouse teams are playing Division two schools and stuff like that.
It's just not entertaining. And also it's dangerous, you know,
I mean, because you have some big, strong players that
you know, are playing in the top ten teams and
they're playing teams that are you know, they have smaller players.

(19:17):
I mean it can get really physical. So I think
the teams that get tested early on and even if
they lose in a big game in the first or
second game of the season, you can still recover and
you're going to be.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Better for it.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
And I think the fan base, all college fans, they
want to see big games early on. They don't want
to go to a game that's going to be seventy
three to three. It's just not exciting.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Yeah, I'm with you there. What's a good season for UCLA?
What would be a success?

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Well, first of all, last season, it seemed like UCLA
was in the AFC West. You know, this year they
don't have that type of schedule. I mean, starting off
with Utah is very tough. I mean that's the tough
game for UCLA. But after that, you know, the season
sort of. You know, they have opponents that they can beat.

(20:10):
They're going to have to play at Ohio State, Penn States,
come to the Rose Bowl. But it's doable in the
Big Ten this year for UCLA to get eight or
nine wins.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Nice Well, Matt, enjoyed the rest of your day.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Enjoy the weekend and look forward to seeing you in
a couple of weeks and really appreciate your time.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
Hey, thanks for having me on. Just around the corner.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Get ready, I'm ready. Let's do it all right? There
you have it, folks.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Matt Stevens, he's the color analyst for UCLA football in
some exciting stuff. It should be fascinating to see how
quarterback transfers.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
How you have.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
You have not only just quarterbacks, but like almost like
thirty five forty guys on both teams. Uh, And who
can assimilate the quickest? That's that's the key, uh to
to this game. And and I think the bigness of
the game, you know, can you can you rise to that?

Speaker 3 (21:09):
H Uh? It'll it's gonna tell us a lot.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Devin Dampier uh and Nico Yamala abba are going to
uh we're going to see who who who is the
better of the two quarterbacks certainly make a big difference.
An interesting thing happened and uh with the the University
of Michigan. Uh, they actually came down with a pretty

(21:35):
serious uh, I guess penalty.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Are are you surprised by this a little bit? James?

Speaker 4 (21:41):
That that actually that actually there was a significant uh no,
no for for stealing signs.

Speaker 9 (21:51):
No, I'm not really surprised at all, Scott, because we've
seen not necessarily for signs stealing type stuff like this,
but we've seen, you know, long show cause things for
NCA infractions, including Jim Harbaugh before when he was the
head coach of Michigan. We've seen for different recruiting or

(22:12):
it was recruiting violations at that time. So Jim, that's
that's that's how that team won the national championship. They
didn't actually earn it. No, that's my buck eye. That's
my buck eye bias showing there. Yeah, but it's uh, yeah,
I'm not surprised. Maybe it's a longer show cause for
both Harbaugh and Connor stallions than one might expect, but

(22:37):
this was This is not the same as kind of
the BS recruiting violations. This that's BS now with the
with the advent of n I L that he was
that he was ding for before, that wouldn't have been
ding for now because there's just no rules about that there.

(22:58):
It's different than that kind of a thing where where
people be like, oh, what's the ncaay trying to do here?

Speaker 10 (23:04):
They can't actually enforce this.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
This is like.

Speaker 9 (23:09):
Guys Connor Stallions allegedly seems like it's been proven enough
that he was sneaking on other other team's sidelines. He
was watching to get the other other opponents called.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
You can still sign if you want. It's not that hard.
You just can't.

Speaker 9 (23:28):
But the way they were doing it's it's like with
baseball with the astrois that it's not about it. It's
not about the fact that they stole signs. It's that
they It's that the way that they did it is
unfair and cheating. So I'm not surprised that it's harsh.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
No, well, I'm surprised that the NCAA actually had the
teeth to penalize anyone. Just seems like they're kind of
rolling over for people. I guess that was my surprise.
I mean, they should do this, and and it's pretty significant.
I mean it's in upwards of thirty million dollars Stallions
or Harbaugh has they cannot be hired for. I think

(24:03):
Harbaugh is like ten years and uh, Stallions is like eight.
So it's so it's a it's it's a significant thing.
But here's I guess when I see this where it
gets me. It gets me when uh it So now
now the people that are left, they're they're the ones
that suffer the consequence, you know, maybe they had nothing

(24:25):
to do with it or moving forward, and and it
just seems like it's in some ways it's almost unfair
for all the people that didn't do anything wrong. And
we're as much a victim of this as anyone else.
And and they and they're the ones who are going
to suffer the greatest consequence. I mean, Jim Harbaugh must
have known or had an inkling that something like this
potentially could happen, even though he's like, I'm out the door,

(24:47):
because I'm going to be out the door no matter what.

Speaker 9 (24:49):
You may have even assigned Connor Stallion to do these
things through someone.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Else, you know.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
So yeah, it's knowing knowing Jim, knowing Jim Harbot and
how diligent and thorough he is. He probably didn't say no,
and he probably was aware of it. He probably like, oh, great, yeah,
if we can, because we tried. I tried to steal
signs all the time when I played. I mean I
didn't like go advanced scouting because I couldn't. But but

(25:16):
you would sit on the sidelines and when the defense
was and this is before they did the headset thing,
so you could steal them. But uh, it's like it's
out in the open. They're doing it, and if we
can figure out what it is while we're just standing
here on the sideline, there's nothing nefarious about that at all.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
But it certainly went on.

Speaker 9 (25:36):
And then that's like, like I say, that's not all
that different from from the signs stealing, the traditional sign
stealing of Major League baseball. The guy at second base
has a good view of the catcher giving that putting
his fingers down to select a pitch for the pitcher,
like you you decode that while you're at second base.

Speaker 10 (25:58):
That's okay because it's out in the open.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
But yeah, I.

Speaker 9 (26:03):
Going back to what you said about it being unfair,
Like Jim Harbaugh doesn't really get penalized here because he's
probably he's planning coaching the next ten years in the NFL,
like he's right, and Connor Stallions get that's quite a
penalty because he's he might not he doesn't have the
same opportunities as Jim Harbaugh, obviously, But Searon Moore is
the guy that gets suspended for this, not Jim Harbaugh.

(26:24):
It's I'm not sure that that's justice in the end,
but that's all the NCAA can do because Jim Harbaugh
is not a sitting NCAA coach.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Sharon Moore is, yeah, well it's a I don't know
if I'm surprised by it, quite frankly, and it's disappointing
in so many ways. What's not disappointing is what's right
around the show. Right around the corner on the show here,
we've got none other then the Voice of the youths,
mister Bill Riley, joins the Sean o'connells show here on

(26:55):
ESPN seven hundred and ninety two one FM. Let's see
when we return. But before we return, I just want
to say something to you. There's thirty one days of Football,
brought to you by Baskin Robbins because they have thirty
one flavors and they're pretty freaking good, by the way,
A great football conversation Monday through Friday, covering of course
the UT's, the Big Twelve and the NFL as we

(27:17):
close in on the start of the season, and we
have classic calls every Saturday at noon leading up to
the season opener.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Next one is the Baylor game from last September.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
All right, Bill Riley, Right around the corner, Shaan O'Connell Show,
ESPN seven or nine two NFM.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
You were listening to the Sean O'Connell Show from the
Murdoch Hyundai Studio of ESPN seven hundred and ninety two.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
To one A f am. All right, e sports fans,

(28:11):
welcome back.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
It is the Sean O'Connell Show here on ESPN seven
hundred ninety two ONEFM. I'm Scott Mitchell filling in for
Sean today. So excited to be here on a Friday,
because I love Fridays. I love every day, quite frankly.
Fridays are special though, because it brings us to the weekend.
They're fun, they're fantastic. They're also football Fridays, and we
get to talk about football. Quite frankly, I'd like to

(28:32):
talk about football twenty four to seven, three sixty five.
And I'll be honest with you, there's no one I'd
rather talk to you about it than my broadcast partner,
Voice of the Youths. He is the director of Broadcasting
at the University of Utah, none other than Bill Riley
is joining the show right now. Of course, Bill is
brought to us by Handy and Handy. Bill, Welcome to Friday.

(28:55):
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
And how are you.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
I'm doing great. Thank you to Press and gear at
Handy for sponsoring this segment. Big firm experience, small firm
attention at Handy in Handy, I'm doing great.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Are you very good? So fun?

Speaker 4 (29:11):
I enjoy when I get to fill in for Sean,
And of course it's always fun to talk with you.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
And we're going to talk about some football, So here
we go. I'm curious.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
I saw this report and someone actually said and I
think it was Rhys Davis who was doing a preseason
prediction with another announced who I didn't know, and this
guy said, look, I'm picking Utah to win the Big twelve.
And I'm like, and I'm seeing kind of some things.
You know, Utah got some votes in the AP top

(29:43):
twenty five. They were just kind of outside the top
twenty five. And I hear people like they're saying, you know,
you kind of watch out for Utah. Utah is kind
of right around the corner. As I've listened, as I've watched,
as I've kind of thought through this team, I'm kind
of maybe agreeing with them.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Am I crazy? Am I drinking the kool aid? Where?
What do you think are the fortunes of this Utah
football program this year?

Speaker 6 (30:09):
Well? I don't think you're crazy that I don't think
there's a definitive pick for the Big Twelve this year.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
So I think Utah.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
You can absolutely lay out a case for Utah being
a team that could absolutely win it this year. They
weren't far off last year. They were actually a pretty
good team last year that had just well below average
quarterback play. They were very deficient at one particular position,
and that position just happened to be the most important
position on the field. So no, I think the momentum

(30:39):
has been gathering for Utah really since right around Media
Day a month month and a half ago, And I
just I think this is a really good team that
if they get the quarterback play they're expecting to, will
be right in the mix.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Now.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Texas Tech is very good, Arizona State is very good,
Kansas State is very good, and you might make case
Baylor's in that group as well. But I absolutely think
Utah's got a chance to get back to where we
thought they would be last year. We just didn't know
last year that the quarterback play would be so poor
comparatively speaking. And I think that absolutely there's a case

(31:15):
to be made for Utah. But like I said, there's
a case to be made for a few other teams too.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Yeah, I would, I would agree. I really like Utah,
I do, and uh, I like I like the kind
of vibe that's going on. I believe this defense is
going to play well.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
I want to.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
I want to start with the defense though. And Coach Whittingham,
he's an interesting person when you interview him because he's
very honest and he doesn't like to tell you things
unless he's really definitive about him. And he and he
mentioned the other corner back, that the one, the one
position that they're trying to fill, and to this point
it's been you know, there's been a lot of guys,
We've got a lot of guys competing. But he said

(31:56):
Jake Cotton was the guy, And uh, what are your
thoughts about that situation and that statement from coach witting him.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
I don't think he said he's the guy. I think
he said he is separated. Unless he said something today
that I didn't hear. I think he said Cotton has
separated himself a little bit from Don Saunders and Rock
called well, those three guys, the three transferers are have
been kind of battling for that spot opposite of Elijah Davis.
We know SMIs Nottan's going to start, whether it's outside

(32:27):
or in the slot. If I could prefer the slot.
But Blake Cotton, who played three years, if you see
Davis within the one Double A playoffs with you see
Davis a year ago, has had a really good fall camp.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
So it's thunders and so it's called well.

Speaker 6 (32:40):
But I think Kyle said the other day that Cotton
has maybe separated himself just a little bit. What it
tells me is that they've got good depth at that
other spot, which you know, as we found out last year,
we thought the young man from Georgia Tech was going
to step in and be that guy, and then in
the first game he ripped up his knee and ended
up being Elijah Davis. So I think you've got to
have some good spot. But I think they've had a

(33:01):
really good competition this fall. And here's the thing, they're
all big corner. Scott Cotton sixth two Saunders is six'.
Four caldwell six to, three another guy who may factor
in his ear goes along AS. J. C, hart The
auburn TRANSFER jc is like six to three as. Well
SO I i they've got some big. CORNERS i, Mean

(33:21):
Scooby davis is good size at six 's one on
the other, side but goodness, gracious they've got some size
on that one. Side but, yeah when you go out
to practice and watch them a little, Bit cotton's had
a good fall.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Camp.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Uh another, Thing, YEAH i, Mean I'm i'm very happy
about the. Secondary that's that's WHAT i. Mean you, know
you HAVE. Tayl, johnson you Have Scooby, davis you Have Rabbit,
evans you Have Smith, noden, uh and then you, know
what's this other corner and you do and that that's
What i've. Seen i've seen a lot of guys that
look really. GOOD i, mean they look the, part you,
know and they just look good. Physically they look like,

(33:55):
dudes you, know and so, uh, YEAH i love when
guys look like dudes because they are and so that
That i'm really. Excited the other thing that it was
interesting and it is interesting to, me is this this
defensive tackle, situation AND i have a BIASED i want
poop poo to be the guy BECAUSE i just want
to say poo. Poo and maybe that's a bad you,

(34:17):
know maybe that's selfish on my. Part but Coach whittingham
spoke of. Him they spoke OF. Kafusi where do you
think they're landing with this defensive tackle, situation because that's
kind of one of THE i guess maybe question marks
on the.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
Defense, well they played four or five, guys SO i
think you're gonna you AND i are both going to
get a chance to say poop poo a few times this.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Year for those who don't, know poo.

Speaker 6 (34:39):
Poo Cept polonna is a recruit out Of Saint Louis
High school In. Hawaii he only really began playing football
a couple of years. Ago he was a stud basketball
and volleyball. Player in, fact he was a two time
state player of The year in. Basketball he's six,' two
about two seventy five, right now so he's he's a

(35:00):
little undersized to tackle, for now but he's just a freakishly,
athletic kid so he's going. TO play I think i
think you're going To see kapusie a, little bit But Via.
MAHI vakalahi i think you're going to see all those
guys rotate through Because what utah likes to do and
what You'll See luther ellis Do And morgan's galley do

(35:21):
is keep those. Bodies FRESH so i think you'll see
four or five. Guys Play but poopu has been one
of the real breakout guys during. Fall camp he's had
a really good fall camp and when people get a
look at, this kid he's not, super big but he's
athletic and he's got. Good EXPLOSIONS so i think you'll
see him as part of, the rotation, you know as
things begin here in about.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Two weeks.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
And depth is such, A key like you watch the
years that this team has, won championships got to, the
championship it's because of, that depth and they were able
to keep people fresh late into, the season so they're
playing really good Football, in november and it's just a.
Huge key and so having a lot of guys that
you can rotate through is is just a. Special LUXURY
and i think something that Maybe coach whittingham was a

(36:04):
little worried about because of the transfer portal and kind
of losing, Some guys but it looks like that that
part of the ball's. Pretty sure. Shirt up one of
the other things, He said bill that Was Interesting. Coach whittingham,
he says we got, our seven seven or eight guys
that we've identified as the ones that are going to
get all the reps at wide receiver AND and i

(36:26):
thought that was an. Interesting STATEMENT and i think it's
a smart, strategy personally like you got to you got
to kind of just pick the horse that you're gonna,
you know you're gonna, ride with and and and ride and.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
So who who who are?

Speaker 4 (36:39):
Those guys he didn't really, specifically say but do you
do you know who the maybe seven or eight guys
that are really going to get a shot here at
this wide.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Receiver, POSITION well, I mean i.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
DON'T think i think the hierarchy is still to be
determined or they're determining that the seven or eight, guys are,
you know they're they're the more, Experienced guys Guys Like
tobias merriweather who trainedransferred in From Cal larry simmons who
transferred In from Southern Miss dadrin zipper who was here a,
year ago who's had a. Good Fall Kay ryan davis

(37:09):
who was in the System At new mexico a. Year,
Ago Uh, Creed Wittemore. JUSTIN stevenson i think those are
some Of the these are guys that have all played
scott and played at a. High LEVEL so i think
those are the guys and that that That They've luca colderella.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Who's been in.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
This system luca, of course.

Speaker 6 (37:31):
Solid player it's really now, figuring out, you know what the.
Hierarchy is who are? Those guys who's, you know this
is the term you've probably heard a, million years a.
Million times who's stacking? Good days who's not just having
a good practice or a, good scrimmage but who's having multiple,
good practices good scrimmages things, like that because, you know lots,

(37:52):
of guys as, you know especially IN the nfl where
you have lots of bodies, in camp guys will pop
on a. Given day but what the coach you want
to see is do you pop two or three days in,
a row do you have a? Good scrimmage do you
back to back? Good SCRIMMAGES that's i think that's what
they're looking for.

Speaker 11 (38:07):
Right now.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
The coach whittingham's talked about some of these KIND of
i don't know how to put. Specialized players so You, Have,
lander barton who's going to see some, time Offensively, smith
snowden You Have, hunter andrews You Have. Nate johnson they
kind of these, you know where do they? Fit there,
you know they're kind of. Hybrid players are their unique?
Special players of all, these guys who do you think

(38:32):
really is going to have the biggest impact on this team?

Speaker 3 (38:35):
This year.

Speaker 6 (38:37):
That's a. GOOD question, i mean the tight end room.
Is evolving, You Know dallan bentley's the one proven commodity
in that tight. End Room and i'll tell you a
guy that's had a good fall camp At That kyle
whittingham's name checked a. Few TIMES It's, jj buchanan freshman
Out Of. LAS vegas i think they'd like To See
otto tea emerge a. Little bit he had a really

(38:58):
nice year. Last Year If. Utah state he's a. Big
target there's a Wide Receiver. Utah state they've tried to
kind of convert him to a tight end at forty
four catches and seven touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Last year so, you know You.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
MENTIONED lander i think that there's a place. For it
people are asking me all, the time this is not
going to Be A travis. HUNTER situation i don't think
with any of. THESE guys i think these guys are
going to be used for their skill, set situationally but
Especially because Lander and smith are such big parts Of
what utah likes to do on the defensive side of. The,

(39:31):
football so, BUT yeah i could See That hunter andrews
is a guy that's just they kind of move him
around like a. Chess piece you might see him line
up at. Tight end you might see him be an,
h back you might see him be a. Full, back
heck you might carry the football from time to time as,
a tailback maybe in. Short Yardage so andrews is not
a two way player being, offensive defense although he did

(39:53):
play some linebacker when he first. Got here but he's
a guy that they can move around a little.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
Bit too and.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
USE situationally i think that's part of the good part
Of What jason beck likes. TO do i think he
wants to give as much of the talent that he
have on both sides of the ball and utilize them where.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
They Can man converting third downs is such a, huge
thing and if a Guy Like hunter andrews could kind
of evolve into that multi purpose guy that you could
use on, third downs kind of Like A taysom hill
maybe a.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Little bit it becomes a.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
Valuable weapon and it would be fascinating to see where
all these guys Fit because I'M just i just thought
about this, This, morning like he got a lot of
these guys that are, very, interesting intriguing but who, fits
in who really makes? An impact and because you've got
to run a lot offense to get everyone in the
ball and run. The ball and speaking of running, the
ball it's kind of a two headed Monster With nickie

(40:46):
rodgers And Way shaun parker at the running. Back, POSITION.

Speaker 6 (40:50):
Yeah i Mean a hunter is NOT the i Mean
Comparing hunter Andrews To, TAYSOM hill i think is a little.
Out there he's not quite that kind of Dynamic app,
but no they've got a lot. Of guys well here's the, Other.
THINGS scott, i mean the offensive line is so good that,
you know YOU and i might be able to line
up in short yardage and Ducks Behind jared Tump And

(41:13):
michael Mokafisi Or taleb lomu on a.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Given.

Speaker 6 (41:15):
Play there they're really. Really good but You know andrews
will play. A role they've got a little bit of
everything at running, back, Too Way shaan Parker And nikirie
rogers are kind OF one a AND. One b and
then you've got the, speed guys the Two Freshmen daniel
bray And. Racing guillery, You know green's in there. As
well so they've got a number of different. Running backs

(41:36):
and then of course you've got the quarterback who can
act like a running back at Times In Devin.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Dan, pierre yes.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
As we've just talked, through this, you know the covers Aren't,
there offensively there's a lot. OF weapons I Guess i've
i've kind of equated it to like a patchwork of.
Offensive production you just put a little bit here, and
there and all of, a sudden you have this beautiful
quilt that's made of a bunch of different funny, looking
things but.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
It works and that may be the case. This. Year
kay they may not.

Speaker 6 (42:04):
Have that they may not have that one stud wide,
receiver immediately that five star guy or that guy that.
Emerge IT but i think they've got enough playmakers that
you're going to be able to find ways to get.
Guys involved, you know they may not be forcing the
ball ninety times to one given wide RECEIVER but i

(42:25):
think they're going to have enough guys that can really.
Make plays in the past game that, you know there
was a lot of angst spring football, and offseason know
who are? THE playmaker i think those guys are beginning
to emerge in. FALL camps i Don't think utah fans
need to stress a ton about guys who. CAN catchy
i think they've they've really found some guys here in
fall camp that can make.

Speaker 4 (42:45):
Some plays i've Always, LIKED zipper i. Really Have and
i'm glad you know that he's having a. GOOD camp,
i mean he could be a guy that could really.
Break out and he's one of those guys that looks
like a. Dude TOO and i just.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
LIKE that.

Speaker 4 (43:01):
I got to ask you this question BECAUSE really I
thought i Was Fascinating. Patrick mahomes, of course you're A huge,
chiefs fan and right. Rightfully so he said last year
was kind of, an anomaly like it was just it
was just kind of all the different crazy things that
went on with players and just kind of his play

(43:21):
and he's really AND and i guess it was kind
of shocking to ME that i heard this because they
went all the way To The super bowl in kind
of an off YEAR in i think there's a certain
group of people that, feel, like Yeah the chiefs have kind,
of slid they've kind of, Fallen back maybe they're not going.
To contend what do you think about this kind of

(43:42):
Perception From patrick mahomes and kind of THIS recommitment i
guess from him and this. Whole team do you Think
they're do you think they're? A contender should people be
watching out For the chiefs?

Speaker 6 (43:52):
This?

Speaker 2 (43:52):
YEAR well i think, WELL yeah i mean they didn't
fall off.

Speaker 6 (43:56):
THE map I mean i think what he was talking
about last year was the kind of had to do
whatever they could think About The scott their top wide
Receiver Was. Rashi rice he missed the entire season after
the third game he got knocked out on a. Freak
play They Added, hollywood brown he missed the entire season
Till like, week Sixteen And isaiah, piciceco missed, you know

(44:19):
twelve or thirteen games in the middle with a broken
foot or, broken ankle and they were just. A disaster
a left tackle their Top left they didn't have a
left tackle. Last year they tried like four guys in
there and finally moved their left guard to. Left TACKLE
so i think that's kind of what he's. Talking about
People like mahomes didn't look like himself left well because

(44:40):
HE was, i mean he was without his top two
receivers in his top running back just about the. Entire
year and did you know how important the left. Tackle
is he was kind of they were having to kind
of piece that, thing together and he was running for
his life. A LOT so i think that, you know
they're healthy, this year they're deeper at wide receiver. This
year they've got the running back back. This year and it,
looks like again small, sample size but the kid they

(45:03):
took a, chance on had he been healthy during the,
draft process would have been a top. Ten pick they
got him at. Thirty One That's, josh simmons the Tackle From.
Ohio STATE so i think that that's a little bit
about what he's.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
Talking.

Speaker 6 (45:16):
About NOW the afc is a little bit Like The.
Big twelve there's about four teams you could pick the Win, In.
Buffalo baltimore denver's a. LOT better i don't think they're
quite good enough to win it, all yet but they're
going to, give people Including, the chiefs. Some Trouble the chiefs,
are THERE so i understand why. You know and there's
a little Bit, of Hey.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
There's.

Speaker 6 (45:38):
Chiefs fatigue we all. Know this it happens in. Every
Sport Golden, state warriors There were. Warrior fatigue there's just
a little bit of. That TOO but i think they're
right there in. THE mix i think you, Could, say
okay they've been to, foot three four of the, last
five five of the Last Six. SUPER bowls i think
you could pick them to get. Back there but if
somebody made a case For the bills Or the ravens or,

(45:58):
SOMEBODY else i could see that.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Too well and That's what i'm so excited about FOR
the nfl and for college football is Specifically The. Big
twelve it's going to be intriguing all. Year long it's
going to be a, dog FIGHT and i think whoever
wins this is really going to deserve it because they're
going to play a lot, of good good football teams
and a lot of teams to believe they.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
Can win and it's the same thing IN. The nfl
and that's what.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
You want you want very competitive games against teams that
are trying, their best and you want to have hope
that you're a part, of it that you can win.
As well, so hey we're two. Weeks away really look
forward to all, of that and it's always fun to chat.
WITH you i hope you have a great rest of
your day and. A weekend, so thanks thanks for.

Speaker 3 (46:39):
Tuning.

Tv show It's Called The. Biggest loser it's for all
these overweight people that try to lose weight and. Win
money you win a prize at the end if you're
the if you're the. Biggest loser and sad, TO say

(48:16):
i was not the, BIGGEST loser.

Speaker 3 (48:17):
I was i was the.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
LESSER loser i had a great experience on. THE show
a lot of controversy surrounds the show. As too is
it a?

of weight one hundred and twenty six pounds in four
and a. HALF months i literally lost the pound. A
day THAT'S what i didn't it didn't happen, like that
but if you average, it out that's what that's what it.

Speaker 3 (48:47):
Actually, happened uh and.

Speaker 4 (48:49):
It was it was very it was, very tough and
uh they, you know there there's a lot of controversy with.
With it AND and, i didn't, YOU know i didn't.
EXPERIENCE set i. Really didn't, you know a lot OF
people i. DON'T know i do know that it was
kind of, a funny funny aspect of. The show and
a lot of the contestants that were on, my season

(49:11):
they all, felt like this is my opportunity to, BECOME famous,
i mean to get famous off of being on. This
SHOW and i JUST and i KIND of i kind
of chuckled a, little BIT and i, was, like, well
yeah that's it's probably not going, to happen but, you
know you. CAN certainly i certainly didn't go on the
show to. GET famous i kind of tried not to

(49:36):
go on. The show, quite frankly it was more embarrassing
and humiliating than anything to want to go on the
show under. Those circumstances but turned out to be just a.
Wonderful THING and i just embraced it and went. With
it and it. Was incredible now every contestants are twenty from,
my season and every single contestant pretty much gained most

(49:57):
of the. WEIGHT back i, certainly Did and i've been
and working to get that. Weight GONE and i saw
this Article about kate plus eight and, this one, you
know the woman who had all, these kids, and uh she's, Talking,
ABOUT look i just live a normal life Now and
i'm a NURSE and i do, my thing AND so

(50:19):
i think people get this conception in their head or
conception is that, Right, word james use the.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
Right. WORD perception i don't WANT.

Speaker 10 (50:29):
To i don't depends on what. Your say, probably.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
Okay that they're going to be famous OR the tv
kind of uh kind, of uh, you know solves all.
Your problems you become rich and famous, from it and
not always. Necessarily case, but well the the thing that.
Is FUNNY and i was talking Talking To tim BROWN
From Rgs experience steerious the other day and and he

(50:56):
was because he loved, that show he absolutely loved loved,
the show AND and i was just kind of telling,
him about, you know just kind of the whole the
whole experience and, and uh, you know it's it's.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
It was it was a, great experience but, it, was uh,
you know it's it's kind of not the not the
end of. The world but what was funny about it
was the.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
Fan base so people who know me know me, from
FOOTBALL and i STILL get i still get fan mail
from football and know and no MATTER where, i live people.
Find me they just they find Where where i'm living
and they send me stuff. To sign i'm happy to.
Sign it so if you have something and you want
to find, My actress i'll sign it. For you and
so it's kind of a fun thing. To do i'm shocked.

(51:44):
By it i'll just, Be honest i'm just shocked that
people still, do it and they do then they have.
For years but the fan base after being on, that show,
slightly overweight middle wage women and very. Different Fans telling tim,
About this, i'm like men are subtle when they. Recognize
you women just come right up to you, AND say

(52:06):
i just loved you on that Show The. Big solus
you were, just oh it's, so wonderful and it's and it's.
Just funny the different, fan base so so have a
varied fan base is being a former professional athlete.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
And a and A reality.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
Tv Star So I'm i'm i'm well versed in, My,
popularity james and it's been it's been quite an.

Speaker 3 (52:26):
Interesting experience i'll just tell.

Speaker 9 (52:27):
YOU that i can imagine with when you're famous for
kind of, multiple things it being interesting the different kind
of interactions that. You HAVE and I think i can
picture what you what you experience with men not being
so over the top about about when they, recognize you

(52:50):
when they approach how they, approach you and women being
a lot more excited and not really no no inhibitions to, be,
like yeah let me just be, Subtle, here no Just
like i'm going to tell you HOW much i, Love
YOU and I can i can.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
Picture that. That's interesting, it's fascinating.

Speaker 4 (53:07):
Quite frankly and the Weirdest thing i've ever experienced in
my life is that is being recognized.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
By people it's. A weird It's something i've never gotten.

Speaker 4 (53:14):
Used to i've never, you know it happens, happens today
which is even more shocking.

Speaker 7 (53:21):
TO me.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
I think the most shocking one Happened At Hale center
theater during, an intermission and it was just like some
guy just say how? Are You and, i'm like and it's.
Just weird it's just a. Weird THING so I think
i think, with Guys.

Speaker 9 (53:38):
And i'm speaking from my Experience as i've been in
The meeting i've been able, to write and also just
being in, The media i've been able to meet a
lot of famous ATHLETES that i wouldn't have been able
to meet otherwise and didn't. BEFORE this i think it's for.
Me anyway, it's like we know that you get approached

(54:00):
a lot. ABOUT this i don't want to be the
one that.

Speaker 10 (54:03):
ANNOYS you i.

Speaker 9 (54:05):
APPROACH you i WANT to i want to make SURE
that i express, That hey i'm a, big fan and
because WHEN am i going to see? You AGAIN but
I also i also don't want to bother you.

Speaker 4 (54:15):
About it, You know I've always i've always, Been like
i'm happy to share.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
My experience i'm happy to talk to people.

Speaker 4 (54:23):
About It and i've always looked at it like that
the best way to kind of build your brand or
promote yourself is by one person at. A time and
if you spend the time, with people if you're real
and authentic with them and, YOU'RE approachable i just think
it goes a lot a, lot Further and i'd rather
have that one individual, SAYING man i met. This guy it's,

(54:45):
really nice, you know it was it was fun to
have a conversation. With him and, You know i've SEEN
and i know how time consuming that can be. For
people but usually when you run, into someone it's not
like a large group. Of people it's just kind of
a person at a. Time thing and SO so I
just i've just seen people who are more, that way

(55:07):
and it just it just seems to be better.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
For them and so that that's kind of The approach i've.

Speaker 9 (55:11):
ALWAYS taken I think i've always appreciated when it's been
that approach from the, famous people the.

Speaker 10 (55:18):
Famous athletes i've been able to be because.

Speaker 9 (55:23):
WE'RE not i don't think anyone who's a big fan
that wants to say hi to one of their heroes
or one of the guys that they know is super
famous and, they're like that's really that'd be really cool
to talk. TO them i don't think any of them
is like the has the INTENTION of i want to
be the hundredth guy that's really bothered, you today. You
know so it's, it's always it's always i think appreciated

(55:45):
from this end, of things the person who's not famous
approaching the famous person that hey like that you, treat
them you treat, them well you're at least cordial, With
them maybe you are annoying with like CAN can i
JUST can i just continue with?

Speaker 3 (55:59):
My?

Speaker 10 (55:59):
DAY please i don't want to get.

Speaker 9 (56:00):
Interrupted again, but like if you at least show that
some kind of polite cordialness with with, each person it's.
It's appreciated but at the, same time it sounds like
that's not. Your experience but like, other people if, they
are if they do get annoyed with with being constantly interrupted,
Like THAT like i kind of get, It too like

(56:23):
it's it can't be like as easy as it seems
to be that you to have adoring fans come up
to you.

Speaker 3 (56:31):
A LOT but i.

Speaker 9 (56:33):
Don't know, some people it sounds like for you it's
not a it's not a problem. At all some people it.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
MIGHT be i.

Speaker 10 (56:38):
DON'T know, I mean i'm.

Speaker 4 (56:39):
Just shocked i'm shocked that people do, quite frankly and
and just simply because YOU KNOW i, I mean I
guess i've been in the spotlight a little bit through
the last, few years being on a. Television whatever but
it's been a. Long time it's twenty four YEARS since i,
played football and so it's just it's a it's a very.

(57:00):
DIFFERENT place i Wasn't. IN utah, I mean i am
from here and what. Have you but so it's, you
know It's just i'm just shocked that people come up
and do it and certainly not offended. By it, and
look we're all, Just, humans okay no one's better than.
Anyone else and it's, just like but it's fun to
meet people that you appreciate and you're a.

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Fan of it's a fun thing. To do, all right

great Conversation With bill. Riley early of course we've listened
to some of the sound From coach Whittingham And. DEVIN
dampier a GUY who i think is really Interesting Is.

(59:44):
Jared cump has been on the team for a. Long
time he's played pretty much every position on the. Offensive
line he's now the center and it's such a critical
position to be playing on, the team and so.

Speaker 9 (59:55):
He's, the center SO the c and get HE'S the
c because he's a captain this, Year, too scott so
you got to see there.

Speaker 4 (01:00:03):
Well and that helps him to know where to line up,
as well so they put his put his name and
they embroidered it onto his jersey so he doesn't, get
confused because you know. It's, Possible Anyways The big noon
at twelve is brought to You By. Mountainland supply Visit
Mount land. Supply, today that, of course is this segment
In The camp kyle sound is brought to You By, Keto's,

(01:00:26):

Poly Lift, Big, Willies budweiser, Beer Barb Big, O' Tires,
baskin robins you. Name it everyone wants to get Involved With,
camp kyle and so. Do We Here's jaron cump and
here's what he had.

Speaker 11 (01:00:41):
To Say, but jared there's a lot of talk about
this offensive line have no kind of live up to
expectation so Far.

Speaker 8 (01:00:48):
In, CAMP yeah i mean we're really frighted for all,
the talk all the, positive talk but, in reality our
attitude AS an o line is that we haven't. PROVED anything,
i mean THIS season i started pre. Season accolades any
reality don't. Mean anything no one's gonna. Remember those so,
OUR goal, i mean our, our mentality our attitude is
that we haven't. Proved anything we got a lot to
come up and prove, this year and so we are
working every single day to be able to play this

(01:01:09):
in a position to be able to.

Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
Do, that karen what does it mean to you to
be made?

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
A captain it is.

Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
The biggest, honor, THAT honestly i can.

Speaker 8 (01:01:16):
THINK of, I Mean I'm i'm i'm. SO fortunate i
would say so fortunate that my teammates, you know, see me,
you know see me as a as a guy who's
essentially able to fulfill that role as. A captain And
so i'm so honored that to be to be put in,
this position AND so i will DO everything i can
to earn it every.

Speaker 9 (01:01:36):
Single, day jared, long time what's different about this team
or what's kind of the makeup of this team as
compared to maybe.

Speaker 8 (01:01:43):
Years, PAST yeah, i mean we have to a team
meeting kind of about THIS we, I mean i think
it's just over fifty percent of this team is. Brand
new so there's a lot of new guys and that's
something that, you know me being here sometimes this is
something that's kind.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Of new but.

Speaker 8 (01:01:56):
ONE thing i do love is that everyone's starting to
buy IN or i mean all the all the, new
guys the OLDER guys i think are really helping kind
of re establish what our standard is every single day,
in practice in, our WORKOUTS and i think the new
guys are really starting to buy him and so and
we're really. Coming together i'm. Really excited i'm so excited for.

(01:02:17):
This team And then i'm, So yeah i'm just excited.

Speaker 11 (01:02:20):
For it not paying attention to any of the, PRESEASON
stuff i guess you don't take it as a slight
to you guys were not in The preseason top TWENTY
five ep was just. Released today there's like four big
twelve teams That are do you feel that that's this
mentality of this group is something?

Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
To?

Speaker 8 (01:02:33):
Prove, oh, yeah absolutely we got something. TO prove, i
mean you guys in the last year was obviously not,
the standard and so it's not being on top. TWENTY
five i mean that's, you know that's not outside of
expectation because. Of, that, so yeah we got so much.
To prove and that's that's the other two, we have
is that we we got to come out and improve
everything that we believe that we Are with Devin, Damp,
here oh it's been it's been growing, REALLY well i

(01:02:55):
freaging love. To do he's an outstanding not only, outstanding
quarterback he's now staying.

Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
A teamate I mean i think.

Speaker 8 (01:02:59):
He, do OKAY if i said he's taking us out,
TO eat i don't know how many times as an entire.
Offensive line so he's a he's a, team guy, you
know he's a he's a guy that's really here with the,
you know for. The boys and he's an awesome addition
to the locker m not only locker room in the offense.
As well so, it is but, it is but, he
is he's he's been really awesome. With us so and

(01:03:21):
that's that's gonna. Help us just give that little half
a little half a second, longer protection. You know, knowing
that knowing that our guy behind us really takes care,
of us we're gonna try and get care.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
For them there you, Have It.

Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
Jaron cump that's. Great stuff by, THE way I love i.
Love it, and look offensive linemen. Are simple they're very
easy people. To please just. Feed them this, is like
just take him out. To, dinner uh just just. Feed
them learned this a long. Time, ago uh smart move by. The,

(01:03:53):
quarterback yeah you want these guys on. Your side you
want them to give that just a little bit, extra
effort uh on. Your BEHALF so I like i LIKE
the i like the Move By devin dampier with the.
Offensive lineman and, you know the OTHER thing i think
is is there's a lot of interesting Things that jared

(01:04:15):
SAID that i.

Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Really like.

Speaker 4 (01:04:18):
One of them is about you know that that fifty
percent of the team, is new and that's not that's
not really the way that they've built. This program and
they talk about culture and it's really about getting guys
in the program and. Developing them and the younger guys
have the opportunity to learn from the older guys and

(01:04:41):
they learn, the culture they learn how this is how
we do, things here this is this is the way we,
approach this this is this is what we we. Focus on.

Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
And that's a.

Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
New challenge it's a new problem to figure, out, because
like what other Option does utah have if they lose
half of, their team they have to go out and
get the half.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
THEY lost, i mean there's no there's no way. Around
it that would be a.

Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
HORRIBLE thing i think of my last Year at utah
where we lost five players before the start of the
season and we had. No recourse we just lost him
and and to so so now the, whole, strategy well
you can go out and get the guys that. You
lost and a lot of The guys utah lost were,
you know they were kind of role players maybe to.

(01:05:29):
SOME degree, i mean, you.

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Know a couple.

Speaker 4 (01:05:34):
Maybe not, you know we're a bit of. A surprise
there were, guys that, YOU know, I Mean coach whittinghamson like.
This guy, you know they're they're taking a guy from
us that we kind of look at as maybe a,
you know a two like he's not even a starter
or a star kind. Of players so it's just you're
kind of scratching your head a little bit about why

(01:05:57):
why they left the Course Two. Na vasa THAT was
i just that just that just. Stung me i'll just
tell you. Right now that did not sit well.

Speaker 3 (01:06:04):
With ME SO I i i'm not happy about.

Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
That one but it's Interesting that, jaren says, you know
these guys are starting to understand and to build. This
CULTURE and i think that's so much of like like
who is like the success you're going to have is
the team that can really bring that new mass of
players and get them to buy into and get them

(01:06:31):
assimilated into, YOUR program i think is an absolute. Huge
thing and then another Thing that JARED said i thought
was quite FASCINATING was i really think, he said, you
know we're not buying into because, it's like how do
you feel about your offensive line and getting all of.
These accolades i'm just, TELLING you i think it's harder

(01:06:55):
when you have people heaping praise. ON you I think
i think most people people and and and what's hard
about it is that you. Get complacent for, some reason
we just seem to respond better. To criticism we seem to,
respond better And Certainly kyle whittingham's team seem to, do
that which is part Of why i'm very excited about
this season is that they're kind, of outcasts kind of

(01:07:18):
forgotten a, little bit but also. Still respected, you know
there's still and then This, is utah which is which
is a pretty. Cool thing you know that that there is,
this respect, you know don't take them lightly kind of kind.
Of thing AND so i JUST really i really like
that they kind of have the right framework and the

(01:07:40):
right mindset about that because it's, it's, really uh it's
really hard to do and and it's one of the
THINGS that I just i wish people would stop talking.
ABOUT it i wish they would stop talking about how they,
uh boy this offensive line is. So good it's just
like you're just setting them Up, fail like just be quiet.

(01:08:02):
About it don't. Say anything don't because we don't. Know
anything that's that's the. Bottom line and people, are, like
whoa you know this is the this is the top
rated offensive line In the.

Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Big twelve, it's like how do you? Know that we don't.

Speaker 4 (01:08:14):
Know That and i'm not trying to disparage these guys.
AT all, i mean they're very, good Players and i'm excited,
about THEM but i just get nervous when people start
giving all these accolades and, you know and and to
these to these young, people, anyways FASCINATING and i think it's.
Really COOL and i think what's cool about It is jared's.

(01:08:34):
Just excited, he's, like man this is a big song
in my life to be a captain on this team
and and to to kind of be where we are
and and it's a.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Special thing and he'll he'll play a big role.

Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
In this the center position is a massive almost like
a coach on, the field directing kind of, run schemes,
pass protections got to know, it all got to direct
people about where they need, to go what they need.
To do so so he he's a big part of
whether they're going to do well, or Not and i'm

(01:09:06):
confident that they'll get.

Speaker 9 (01:09:07):
It, DONE scott i have a quick question, for you
because there's a lot a lot was MADE of i
don't think anyone DISAGREES with i don't think anyone's saying
the four guys that were chosen by the players to,
be captains that's the, Final brothers jared Comp And, lander
barton that they're.

Speaker 10 (01:09:26):
Not deserving but there's a lot of.

Speaker 9 (01:09:27):
People Surprised that Devin dan pierre was not named, a
captain was not voted by his teammates as, a captain
but he is on the. LEADERSHIP council i wonder from
a former, PLAYER'S perspective i don't know what equivalent they
if they had an equivalent to that IN, the nfl
or if they had something like that at your Time
with utah captains and then a, leadership council both voted on.

(01:09:48):
By teammates is there how much of a difference is
there between the captains and the guys on the leadership
council or are they kind.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Of, synonymous no there's there there there's a difference there,
For sure and that's a good Question though i'm just
thinking about. My time, It's, like okay being a captain
in some regards is like it's a it's almost an

(01:10:21):
honorary type.

Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Of thing but there's not a whole lot.

Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
OF responsibility, i mean especially in, professional football the responsibility
is you go out for the. Coin, toss, yeah right
that that's that's your that's your like during, the week
there's no there's, no, like uh, you know you've gotta
you've got to lead. The team you've got to do
all these things like there's you have.

Speaker 10 (01:10:44):
Extra player meetings or anything.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
Like, that no, there's no they.

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
Never never but but the, leadership council that's a different
story because that that's a that's a policy board more.

Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
Or less that's a.

Speaker 9 (01:10:58):
That's true the ONE thing i know with, leadership council
sorry to cut, you off that is they choose the
uniforms that you're going to wear. Every week at least
that's how they Do at University. Of utah i'm sure
there's a lot of other more policy stuff that they.

Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Do yeah and and so so the leadership council to
me has a much more important role on the team
aside from.

Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
You.

Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Know jerseys, it's, like hey we have an issue with.
The player what's the disciplinary you know how that, you
know there's things of.

Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
The coach will give a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
Of feedback or get a lot of feedback or ask
for or counsel with these players and they really do
what types, of things you Know what so so the
coach can get a real pulse on on the team
because it's one thing to be a captain because part
of that's it almost could be a, popularity thing. You

(01:11:54):
know the, YOU know i mean no Offense To, logan
fano but, you know his, his play, HIS position i
don't know constitute him being a, team, captain right but
but he's a he's a very. Funny guy he's a very.
Gregarious guy he's, you know he's a lot. Of personality
he's been around for a bit. Of time And The,

(01:12:16):
final brothers it's almost like it's a. Package deal, you
know they're they're a comedy routine and so they, you
know you can't have one without the other kind. Of
thing AND and i think that was the case with
them Staying at utah even, NIL wise i think that
that had part to do. With it maybe people won't,
admit it but but it probably. Is true but The
leadership council absolutely has so much more of an impact

(01:12:39):
on on on the team and so much more say
in kind of the things that really.

Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
Matter with the team than than actually. A captain but very.

Speaker 9 (01:12:48):
Good, Question yeah so THE reason i asked that is
if there's anyone in the fan base or whatever that
that's just, like me doesn't have a deep enough understanding
of what the. Differences are if there's anyone, that's, like
hey it's a red Flag that Devin dan pier wasn't voted.
As captain it really shouldn't be because. He is he

(01:13:11):
was voted to be on the, leadership council and that's
that actually holds a lot, more weight right as far
as as far as what the teammates and the coaches
how they see him as a potential leader for.

Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
THE team, i mean there is there is a lot
of honor in being the captain and it and it
is something And like, jared said, you know this is
a big honor and It is i'm not minimizing it
at all and it and it really is one of
those things where that the that your teammates basically are
verbally saying we look to you for our leadership will.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
Follow.

Speaker 9 (01:13:42):
You, yeah yeah and but maybe maybe not more weight
THAN maybe i said, that wrong but it's still being
on the leadership council holds a lot of weight if
you're voted to.

Speaker 10 (01:13:52):
Be on, That anyway SO that's.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
I think I Think devin dampier is a guy that's
very well respected by his teammates and they're going to
to him to do a lot, of things and he's
absolutely a leader on the team because you don't have
to be a captain to have.

Speaker 8 (01:14:05):
That.

Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
Happen, yeah absolutely, all right let's take. A, break yeah let's.
Let's Go h we'll go, to uh we'll go to
a break.

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
RIGHT now i don't. WANT to i think we should
never have any breaks, at all but we're supposed to,
DO that.

Speaker 10 (01:14:17):
I know if we if we we didn't have a bunch.
Of clients so we got to give a lot of.

Speaker 9 (01:14:22):
Love too, and yes if that was the part of love,
with Radio we i'd be with, you though like we
let's just keep talking as long.

Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
As we want here and we will when we. Come

Sean O'Connell so happy to. Be here so glad that
you're joining us On. Your friday wherever, you are whatever,
you're doing we. Appreciate it and so glad you could
tune into. The Show and i've been mentioning this topic
about how what's the best strategy how do you how
do you take a young rookie quarterback IN, the nfl

(01:16:12):
and and.

Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
How do you bring? Them along how do you? Develop them,
and uh and.

Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
It's it's certainly a wide opinionated view of of how
you should bring. Them along so part of it is throw,
them in let them fend. For themselves another part of it,
is no hold, them out let, them work let, them see,
let them let them get a feel, for it because
you don't want to mess their fragile. Psyche UP and

(01:16:40):
i think each one there's plenty of examples of all
of this THAT that i. Find fascinating, YOU know i
experienced this in in my time in, professional sports, and
like when's the best as? The Quarterback and i'll just,
tell you the quarterback position is just so unique. In
sports it's, so complicated it's, so nuanced it's so hard

(01:17:05):
to do it just it's and what's so hard about
it is everything you have, to understand everything you have
to execute on and all of the people that are
trying to get you to not. Execute, it now think
about think about if you're a, defensive back or think
if you're a.

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Wide receiver you typically it's the guy in front, of
YOU like i gotta beat. This corner the CORNER'S like
i gotta.

Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
Cover you and maybe that maybe as safety, is involved
so maybe there's two two people that you have to
deal with when you're when you're the, wide receiver when you're,
a quarterback, IT'S like i got to deal with all
these defensive linemen who, hate me by, the way who are,
much faster much, more athletic much HEAVIER than, i am
and their their, whole job their whole. Like existence the

(01:17:53):
thing that they get excited about is, Killing me like
they look forward, to maiming hurting and. Injuring me that's
they have, been, indoctrinated taught and it's their life mission
to hurt. The quarterback so you get, the biggest baddest
people on the on the whole, football field and they're
all after you and the same thing with. The linebackers

(01:18:15):
you have to deal with, the city you have to
deal with every. Single position they're all there to.

Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
Stop you and it's it's, so challenging and you've got
to get all your guys on the.

Speaker 4 (01:18:29):
Same page and you got to hope that one of,
your guys like you don't have an offensive lineman miss,
a block or you don't have a guy or has
the wrong assignment or doesn't understand what, to do or
someone misses a sight adjustment on a hot route with
a with a.

Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
Blitz er there's just so much like if you have,
no idea how hard this is to?

Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
Do this and it's complex IN the nfl because the
coordinators are they're just, mean people and they they do
they do all these crazy exotic things all. THE time,
I mean, I mean i Saw something i'll never forget
the FIRST time i. Ever saw we're Playing The, chicago
bears and people have heard of like a two, deep zone,

(01:19:09):
you know where the two safeties, are deep and they
plays they just play in an area five guys underneath
play in.

Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
His zone.

Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
And they did this thing where they, did that except
for they switched and so instead of the corner being
out in the flat they brought. The safety so the
safety went to the flat and the corner went to
the deep half of. The FIELD and I and i,
was like what in the world are? You like i'd

(01:19:37):
never seen anything.

Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Like that that was just the.

Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Most insane so these defensive coordinators will, Do anything they'll.
Try anything and basically what they're, saying is we're going
to bring the safety towards the line of scrimmage because
he can he can protect against the run because you've
got a Guy Named barry sanders in. Your backfield but
then what if you. Do pass we'll put a corner

(01:19:59):
in the deep half of the field and he can
cover the past better than the.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Safety can and it's. Like wow so they will, do,
awful terrible crazy things to you as.

Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
Defensive coordinator so how do you get a player to
get to a point where they understand, All this they,
see this they're confident, with it and they can execute.
On it and it's a really hard thing. TO do
i will tell you that it starts with a coach
who understands how to nurture. A quarterback and usually it's

(01:20:32):
ones that come out Of The bill. Walsh tree so
you have a Guy Like, sean payton who was actually
Is a. Parcels guy but you have A but parcels
to some degree understood really how to. Develop quarterbacks so
You Have, andy reid, you Know Like, Andy Reid, sean
payton some of the top people IN the nfl in
dealing with and really managing quarterbacks because they, get it they.

(01:20:56):
Understand It bill belichick was actually Brilliant With. Tom Brady
bill belichick was a defensive minded coach who spent a
lot of Time With tom brady teaching him what defenses
are trying to do and that that was brilliant and
a lot, OF coaches i don't know would. Do that
so it's having a coach that knows you can't treat

(01:21:16):
quarterbacks the same.

Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Meaning each. INDIVIDUAL court i think.

Speaker 4 (01:21:20):
It's different and so there are some Guys Like, patrick
mahomes really, Good Example patrick mahomes sat his first year.

Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
And It Was.

Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
Patrick mahomes now They Had alex smith who was playing
very well at, the time, very well and took him
TO The afc championship game and they got rid. Of
him and that, TO me i, was, like man you
guys are crazy because you don't know what you don't
know what You Haven't, Patrick mahomes and, they, go no we,
do know and we, have known and he is, our

(01:21:50):
guy no question.

Speaker 3 (01:21:52):
About it and.

Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
He was and it was a brilliant move and it
was the, right move and it was the right move
To Let patrick mahomes sit his first year and then
and then he. Was Ready Now dan marino or some
other guys who have, come In Like. Peyton Manning peyton,
manning's storyman they, just said you just. Go Play And
peyton manning was through a lot of interceptions and it

(01:22:16):
was an up and down time his, rookie year and,
it was, you know it was debatable what he would
become and who he was and.

Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
All that marino was like a duck, on water, you
know as soon as he, got in it was like away.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
We GO and i can only imagine what it was
like in those Practices when marina wasn't playing as. A
Rookie david woodley was the quarterback and this was a
really good football team who had gotten To A. Super
bowl and so that's part of the STRATEGY is i
think players that come into the league that Are Older,

(01:22:49):
peyton manning if your member stayed his whole Time. At
tennessee so he'd gotten a lot of experience Playing. Bo
nicks you saw satan Thing With. Jayden daniels they had
a lot of experience in college and. Playing Games joe
burrow very similar type. Of, Thing Now joe burrow got
injured his, first year but then he just he went
to The super bowl his. Second year and so letting,

(01:23:11):
these guys some of them come in and play early
is not a, bad strategy but there's some guys that's
not a, good strategy and a Guy Like, ZACH wilson
i don't think it was good for him to come
in as a rookie. And play he didn't play a
LOT at byu and hadn't had a lot of experience.
Playing there and then he goes to a team defensive mind,
to coach. Who's terrible you don't want just so, you

(01:23:33):
know you don't want a defensive mind to coach coaching
a quarterback because for them, it's, like well just get
him out of there if they're not, playing well and
it's not how you deal with. The quarterback there's just
so much more to it than just get him out,
of there and you kind of have to let guys play.

Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
Through it and you have to let him play through
these these patches of, you know kind of.

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
Maybe they've thrown a couple of incompletions or are they
thrown an interception, or two and a lot of times
it's so much better to let a guy stay in
a game and work. Through That mike Homgren Had brett
farv Who Could brett farv did not have, an interception
he did not like he threw a ton. OF them,
i mean he could throw interceptions with the very best

(01:24:16):
of all. Of them he was incredible at. Throwing interceptions
but he's also an. Incredible talent and he Ran The
west coast offense Different Than joe Montana And, steve young
and he ran It to brett Farvauay And mike homgren
could see the talent, of that and he, just said you're.
My guy and so sticking with a guy and really

(01:24:38):
letting him know that you're. Confident him you look at
this Situation With, anthony richardson with the With. The colts
he's not. Their guy they wouldn't be having an open
competition if he was. Their guy and basically what they're, saying,
is man we're kind of stuck with this guy for
a couple, of years but we we have zero confidence
that he can get.

Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
It done.

Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
And and that's that's kind of unfortunate, for them and
it's Unfortunate For. Anthony richardson and, Quite Frankly anthony richardson
instead of stayed, in college just stayed two or three.
More years he would have been so much better off
had he had he. Done That And anthony richardson probably
would have transferred Like.

Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
Cam warden.

Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
So so much of it is the maturity of the
player and can they handle like things, being tough, you
know because they, are tough and the game is a
little different. These days it's different in the sense that
you don't have the physicalness of the game is different
than it used to be. For quarterbacks, you also the

(01:25:42):
rules are different and a lot of things that wouldn't
fly in professional football with certain plays are now kind
of being more of. The norm so these young guys
who kind of played in a certain system are now
able to, do it, you know differently than when they
were when they, were younger or when they were. In

(01:26:04):
college and so so, it's, it's uh there's a better
probability of a younger guy coming into a situation playing
now this year You've Got jackson dart And And JACKSON
dart I think I think i think he should be
the Guy In, new YORK and i think he would
be great as the Guy In. NEW york i think
he wants to be. THE guy i think at the,

(01:26:24):
Maturity level he's played a lot. Of football he's very
mature going into his. Rookie year some of these, other guys,
you know maybe not. SO much, I Mean bo nicks
is great. That way a year ago. He was he
played more GAMES than i think anyone ever had.

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
In college.

Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
But the scary Part About jackson dart is the coach
is kind of on the, hot seat and so some
of the decisions about playing him or what happens with
him could be a play for this coach to keep. His, Job,
like hey we're playing, the Rookie so i'm gonna, You
know i'm gonna be around for. A while so it's
maybe not in the best Interest Of, jackson dart but

(01:27:04):
it's in the best interest of.

Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
The coach and that's not really ultimately in the.

Speaker 9 (01:27:08):
Best interest you might see you might See with Brian,
day ball because he's rumored to be on the hot
seat and has been for the last couple. Of years
he's gonna go With With russell wilson maybe Instead Of,
jackson dart Even If jackson dart might be the.

Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
Better, option well and that's a tricky thing for him
because he goes if he Goes With russell wilson and he,
doesn't win then then, it's, like well we'll just throw
the rookie in uh and and he's and he's probably gonna,
get fired, you know because but if he if he
goes With With jackson dart in the beginning of, the
season then they he goes.

Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
To management we got the.

Speaker 4 (01:27:47):
Young kid looks like he's gonna be, pretty good but
we're gonna have to have some patience, with him and
you want to you want to give him a.

Speaker 3 (01:27:54):
Stable environment it's like a and.

Speaker 10 (01:27:56):
That's like a confidence Play by Brian.

Speaker 9 (01:27:58):
Day ball, they're, LIKE hey, i know you guys might
want to get me out of here the first losing streak,
we have but this rookie is our best chance. At
winning and rookies. Need Patients so i'm gonna start them
and hopefully you're going to allow me to be patient.

Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
With them which they.

Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
SHOULD be, i mean if they're if, THEY'RE smart, i
mean because it'd be foolish to just like expect a
rookie to just, be phenomenal and that's that's not. The
Case the giants historically have been a pretty. Patient, organization
yeah so so it's, you know but so so you
you kind of have to look at at at at

(01:28:39):
situations and uh and the Stability as i'm, talking about
and a lot if you look at a lot of
quarterbacks who are like some of the all, time greats
they were in a system for a, long time if
not their, entire career and and they all speak to
how much that had an impact on. Them playing and
it's so much easier when and you just know the

(01:29:01):
system like the back of, your hand and you know
it in a way that whatever whatever a defense throws,
at you and they're gonna throw a lot, of stuff
whatever they throw, at you you are confident and you
can react to it and handle it, like immediately like,
you know you don't want to be you, don't go
oh that, Surprised me oh that, fooled me that this that.

Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Whatever me, you, GO oh i know what they're, doing,
here boom this is what we're.

Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
Gonna do and we're gonna handle this and that that's
that's when you you get to that level when you
just don't you're not thinking about, your offense and there's there's,
so much, you know we talked on the show yesterday just,
the cadence how how intricate the cadence, can be and
how it can throw you off with all the different
things you have to. Think, about uh it can really

(01:29:46):
it can really mess uh mess mess. With you so
having that continuity of just, a system you, JUST go i,
KNOW it i, feel IT and i. Love it, And
sorry i've got a young quarterback question. For you With,
The Commanders, Jaden daniels terry McLaurin holding out or holding

(01:30:07):
in whatever. He's doing he's asking for a new contract
and it says he won't play until he, gets one
or asking for a trade in fact.

Speaker 9 (01:30:17):
As a for a, young quarterback not a rookie. Quarterback
Anymore And. Jaden daniels they Traded For, deebo samuels so
they did bolster the wide, receiver Room but terry mccaorran
would be obviously a. Huge loss you talk about the
environment that the, QUARTERBACKS in, i mean losing your top
receiver in your first or second year has got to

(01:30:40):
be an obvious detriment to a young. Quarterbacks development what
kind of like but with the success that, he had
you still have the same. Coaches there we've been talking
about the. Coaches perspective what kind of a loss would
it be For for terry Mc for terry McLaurin if
they do end up trading him they can't come to
agreement Here Were.

Speaker 4 (01:31:00):
Jayden daniels it's such a hard dilemma the business side
of football and weighing it out between what's actually the
best thing from a. Football perspective so so because there's
a lot of, money involved and there's money that like
kind of sets you up for the rest of your

(01:31:20):
life kind. Of money but then you may take, less
money but it'll extend or you'll have more success on
the field and that may turn. Into More tom brady
was always the most extremely underpaid for, his performance but
he consciously made that choice so that he could be
on a good team around a, good team and and

(01:31:42):
it and it paid huge dividends. For him and then
there are some people, Just gone i'm just going for,
THE money i, don't care and they just they go
off and they get. Their money but, oh well it,
you know it kind of. Hurts Them and i'm Not
saying brock parties in, that situation but that's kind of
the that's kind one of the balancing act the forty
nine ers are trying to. Weigh Out patrick mahomes took

(01:32:04):
less money than he, could have and he took, a long,
long deal and it's given it's Given the chiefs the,
flexibility to, you know to get players.

Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
Around him and and if you're a player like you
know McLaurin.

Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
And, and uh and you're trying to just like, PAY
me i don't care about the rest of you and
not really looking at the long. Term implications he could
go to a team and, he's miserable and it's and
it's a horrible experience and his maybe his career shortened
or its it's maybe doesn't have the Same.

Speaker 10 (01:32:39):
Success washington, Real, quick, yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:32:43):
So it's and and you've got, a quarterback, you, GO
man I could i could ride the coattails, of this. You,
KNOW uh i don't think you appreciate your quarterback until
you don't. Have one and you don't have a guy
that can throw the ball to you don't or you're
in the system and you, just, go wow this because
you still have to go, to practice you still have
to go play in.

Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
The games you still have to play at a. High
level and it's really hard to do that in a really.

Speaker 4 (01:33:10):
Sucky organization like go To The cleveland browns for the
last two decades and try to play There every sunday
and say that's a.

Speaker 3 (01:33:16):
Fun experience it's.

Speaker 4 (01:33:17):
Just not and so it might be better down the
road for a guy and to maybe take a little,
less money and they don't want to and their agents don't.
Want it agents don't want to look like. A fool, it's,
Like man i'm trying to get my guy top dollars
and they're not trying to look, at well look at his,
long term, you know career and.

Speaker 3 (01:33:39):
What's BETTER and i ran into That.

Speaker 4 (01:33:42):
In Detroit brett perriman was one of one of our,
wide receivers a great, wide receiver and, he said, YOU
know i want to get Paid and i'm not going
to get. Paid here i'm going to go. Somewhere Else and,
i'm like you're going to blow up the chemistry of,
Our team like you're as important as any other player on.
This team and he didn't carry just, HE goes i
don't want to be second Fiddle To herman Moore and

(01:34:04):
i'm on and he and he just his career kind of.
FIZZLED out i mean just he just wasn't the and
what have you know would have. Been Great UH and
i just so wished he would have stayed Uh. In
detroit you've just been phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (01:34:16):
For us but but. He didn't and it is what.

Speaker 4 (01:34:19):
It is so it's it's a tough it's a tough because.
YOU can't i can't fall the guy if he wants to, get,
PAID like i just can't. At ALL but i, you
know you hate to break up a really good thing
and that and there's a real potential of.

Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
Doing that now IN.

Speaker 4 (01:34:34):
The nfl you can find a lot of good, wide receivers.
You know so it's a little bit a little bit
easier to to swallow with a wide receiver than it
is like a quarterback or, you know some of these other.

Speaker 3 (01:34:47):
Other players it's it's you know that they're tough to
replace and when you have a.

Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
Good one and the thing About Uh jaden daniels is
he's on his. Rookie contract now that's when they really
want to swing for the fences and get a team
that can just really do a lot more willing.

Speaker 9 (01:35:06):
To pay the teams are more willing to pay Guys
like terry mccorr and are asking for more money because
they're not having to pay. The, QUARTERBACK yeah I just
i just you talked a lot about from, the coaches
in the in the organization and how that affects the
development of. THE quarterback i just wonder do we do

(01:35:27):
you think that if they do end Up trading, terry
MCCORRAN which i think he'll they'll eventually come to some
kind of agreement because he's he's. That important but if
they if they do end up trading, him away he
ends Up leaving how much of a step Back could
jaden McDaniels take this year without his number, one receiver even,
though THEY like, i said they they it wouldn't be.

(01:35:49):
Completely bare they did Trade, for Diebo But deebo samuel
this offseason.

Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
Too huge, QUITE frankly i REALLY do i. THINK it
i think it can have a a massive impact and
can you? Overcome it sure will it take a little bit,
Of time, it might but it's it's it could be
devastating especially to, a younger because what happens when you
say he's his, top guy it means he trusts that

(01:36:13):
guy on the on, the field and so he's going
to look for, him more and he's going to have
confidence that when he throws the ball and where he throws,
the ball that the receiver's going to. Catch it and
and and, some guys some guys can't. Do that some
some wide receivers cannot catch, the ball which, is weird
or catch it in a, tough situation or catch it
in a. Tough spot, you know when it's easy and

(01:36:34):
it's kind of in the, right, situation fine but when
it's when it's a third down or a critical moment
or you're throwing a pass into the, end zone and,
you know you want to know that you have a
guy that that you can you can throw to, that
matters and that that he'll make place, for you and
that it takes time, To develop that takes, Practice time
it takes game experience to gain that chemistry and to

(01:36:58):
gain that confidence with a guy and competency even and
just to just to throw it away and say it's
not going to have an impact is foolish because it
absolutely has, an impact there's, no question, all right speaking,
of impacts we've hit a moment here where we need
to take. A BREAK so i think that's what we're going,

(01:37:21):
to do and we'll take a. Break here GET A pga.

THIS show i JUST really I like i like this
KIND of i like this kind. OF party I Remember
mike singletary SAYING that i like this kind. Of party
i'm gonna be here, ALL day. I do i like

(01:42:31):
this kind of shows just vibing off a lot of
these really crazy headlines and things that are going on
in the world of sports and man even a little
bit of pop culture and culture culture and just, you know,
culture club pretty much anything we were going to. Talk
about so, this now this one really got. My attention
and this story there's something really really deep going. On

(01:42:54):
here there's something really really. Wrong HERE, the nflpa which
to me is just like as A former, nfl player
and IT'S The Nfl players association is a. Hot mess
it's just IT'S and i think it's always been. That
way feels a little, bit sleazy feels a little. BIT

(01:43:16):
corrupt i can't. SAY that i, never, went, OH man
i really trust, these people they really have our best interest.
AT heart i never ever felt. THAT way i still.
Don't today and it's it's kind of a. Terrible thing
it feels like the people that are running it are
in bed WITH, the Nfl which i've always felt has

(01:43:36):
been thinging and that's.

Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
Not the it's not supposed to be. That way supposed.

Speaker 4 (01:43:40):
To be the players represents, the players and then the
management represents, the management and they're different and they're. Not so,
heather McPhee who's been there for seventeen years as, legal
counsel wrote a, memo, about hey we could be in.

Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
Trouble here.

Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
And The lloyd howell who. Stepped down, of course he
was on the board of the company that was actually
trying to sell things to the owners and they were
actually as they were approving things so the board members

(01:44:19):
could actually. Get compensation and, she's like this. Is bad
this is a. Bad, look well guess what Happened to.
Heather McPhee she was put on administrative paid leave why
for being a. Bad person she was SENT to hr

(01:44:39):
and she she was toxic in the, work environment and
they gave a whole list of reasons why she was
no longer a lot and what. IT means i don't
think it's for an, ever thing but her memo actually
got the whole ball rolling WITH the fbi and their robe. Into,

(01:45:01):
this uh this these issues with the with the n
f L p a which are. Really bad and so
she was she was actually put. On lead so you have,
to yeah it's like a pretty. Reasonable, person now these
are accusations. So allegedly i'm not saying that, they've happened
but it's pretty easy to put two and two together

(01:45:23):
and come, Up, with hey the answer, is four and
and the and and the answer of four is kind
of a.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
Bad thing and it's a bad look for for the
n f L.

Speaker 4 (01:45:33):
P a it just doesn't look good and none of it,
looks good and and then you start to get into
and here, and here here's why it all doesn't. Look,
Good okay so if the if The players association is
in cahoots WITH, the nfl AND the nfl is now
doing things and making decisions that impact, the players all

(01:45:54):
in the name of preserving and and and, you know
protecting their. Profit margin then you start, to, question well
IS the nfl? Actually authentic that's that's why this, is
like that's why being honest and not creating these conflicts
of interest and not putting people in a position that
they're going to. Get compromised and and you get compromised when,

(01:46:19):
money's involved people just, they go, you know that's why you.

Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
Get embezzlement that's why you have.

Speaker 4 (01:46:25):
All these things where people just for, whatever reason when
they have access, to money they just want to take
a little bit for themselves and and or or, you
know they create structures where, people go, you know kind of, you,
know hey throw me a, bone here or or give
me a little bit, of money or, you know give

(01:46:46):
me a little kickback. Or something and then and then
the league now, people go well is your game even
real or or are you, you know are you kind
of on, the know on the take with whomever, or
whatever or, You know and then and then all these
accusations of referees calling plays and favoring certain teams over,

(01:47:10):
other teams and and and you don't want to, have
that and that's where this stuff kind of all. Leads
to and so so, being upright being forthright about it
is really the. Best policy and it looks like this
woman was potentially unauthorized or or or or was was was,

(01:47:31):
not unauthorized but, she was, you know She was was
she really being a bad employee or is she just,
you know they're, just, like hey we're going to set
an example, with you and we're going to try to
silence you and do all.

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
These things so it's not a good look no.

Speaker 4 (01:47:48):
Matter what and clearly there's a whole lot more to
this story that will probably come out and we'll probably
hear about and hopefully they can get this resolved and
move forward, in a shall, we say.

Speaker 3 (01:48:01):
An honest an, HONEST way. I hope.

Speaker 9 (01:48:04):
So yeah and, THE other, i mean the other thing
that why this is a problem is just simply that,
the union if the union is in cahoots with the
management the league in, this case that they're supposed to
be fundamentally at odds with because of their representation representing,

(01:48:28):
the players not.

Speaker 10 (01:48:29):
The league like.

Speaker 9 (01:48:32):
There's the players aren't getting what they need out, of that,
Then no like that's the that's the whole purpose behind
a union is it is for the players the labor
to have a voice when it comes to. Management, decisions
right and if there's these kind of conflicts of interest
that led to, howell RESIGNATION.

Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
TO.

Speaker 9 (01:48:55):
J c tretdor's resignation the former president Of The, players
association and and now this this situation with, legal counsel
you're not doing right by the people you're. You're representing
and it's gonna be even it's already the players are
already it's already a big thing to overcome for them

(01:49:17):
to get big wins in labor negotiations AND in. Cba talks, it's,
well yeah this makes it even harder because now your
union is against you. As well, like that that's the
other part of this that's just really troubling from the.

Speaker 4 (01:49:34):
Player's perspective you don't know if you're negotiating in a good,
faith yeah and, you KNOW for i think the example
they've used Is That, deshaun watson uh where he got
his full, salary guaranteed AND the, nfl, said well allegedly
or supposedly there was some concern that the league went around,

(01:49:54):
and said do not guarantee contracts one hundred percent for.

Speaker 3 (01:49:57):
These, players yeah And.

Speaker 9 (01:50:00):
Affected lamar jackson's, contract negotiations that, that Offseason Affected kyler. Murray's,
it yeah they just just crazy that the that a
union could behave and and you.

Speaker 4 (01:50:14):
You also with the, you know a new collective bargaining
agreement's going to come up in a few years and
that and that the percentage of revenue that the players
are going to to have, access, to uh you know
is BECAUSE the nfl is extremely wealthy and uh and
the and the players are a big part of the success,

(01:50:35):
of it and so finding, you know just you want
to just know you're dealing in good faith. With things
the problem so much IS that i don't know that
the players know what's. GOING on i don't know if,
they know, you know if they have a good leader,
or not because the players aren't really that, well versed
or the careers aren't, long enough or they don't really

(01:50:59):
understand the issue that are, before them and until probably
the time, they retired and then, they, GO oh I
wish i had known, that EARLIER because i can see
how this is a problem and it's a it's a,
real problem and it just and it's not.

Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
GOING away, i mean this is this is.

Speaker 4 (01:51:12):
The third, or fourth, you know article and an issue
that's come out of, this thing and it certainly seems
it's going, a lot a lot worse than than it
is actually. Getting resolved and and you hope ultimately at
the end that it does get resolved IN a i
guess in a.

Speaker 3 (01:51:30):
Healthy, Way.

Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
Okay so that was an. Interesting headline here's, another one
and it kind of gives you an indication of maybe
Where Our utah. Jazz are so THE the nba schedule
has fully. Come, Out NOW uh I did i talk
about that Here on sean show ABOUT my i DON'T
think i, did, so, well yeah we're.

Speaker 10 (01:51:55):
Talking about it came out after after the show.

Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
Ended yesterday, so yeah but there was there was one
that came out About The christmas.

Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Day, games.

Speaker 10 (01:52:05):
Yeah that came out a couple of WEEK and i have.

Speaker 4 (01:52:08):
A Solution maybe i'll share it here on, the show but,
really Quick the jazz they have one nationally televised game.
This year now what that means is probably by rule
that they have to at least give you. One game
every team has to at least be on, television once
uh and, if there if it wasn't, the rule they
probably wouldn't be on television.

Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
At, ALL again. I speculating it's LIKE because.

Speaker 4 (01:52:33):
Tv goes where the, interest is and there's not going
to be a lot of interest In The utah jazz
and all it tells you if you're not, on television
your team's not.

Speaker 3 (01:52:41):
Very good and that's probably going to be the case For.

Speaker 4 (01:52:44):
THE jazz, i mean it may be exciting to watch
some of these young players develop and turn the ball
over and fumble and bumble and stumble and figure them,
themselves out But the jazz are in no position whatsoever
to compete to make the. Play offs TO be i
think they'll, be competitive they'll, try hard they'll do all,
that stuff but they just don't have the experience or

(01:53:07):
the talent uh to to compete for. The playoffs and
my Prediction Is Larry larry markin is gone before the
end of. The Season and. I'm sad it's sad to
say THAT because i just DON'T think i think there's
value in him and. TRADING him i don't know how
they show his complete value because they haven't played him
for a year and a, half now uh load. MANAGEMENT

(01:53:29):
ISSUES i i just think that they could get value
Out Of larry mark and and uh and AND because
i don't think his window of success will match the
time it's going to Take the jazz to build to build.
Their team so that's just my. Personal prediction but let me,
let me let, me explain because you'll find. This, interesting

(01:53:49):
YEAH about I have i HAVE a i have a
strategy FOR the nba AND and i believe it will
actually help the W N b a at the. Same,
time okay so, you've, got uh no one cares ABOUT
the Nba in October, or november and they do their.

Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
Little league you know?

Speaker 4 (01:54:14):
Who cares no. One cares it's, as stupid it's. It's
contrived everyone knows. It's contrived and when, it's contrived we're smarter.
Than that we're not buying.

Speaker 3 (01:54:22):
INTO. That bs do the players? Really care and and
DOES the nba? Really care.

Speaker 4 (01:54:28):
They don't so don't start your Season Until christmas day
should be the opening day OF. The nba start your, season.
Later okay and and along with starting your, season later
have your season combined with the W N, b a
because right now the W N b, a, goes well
the reason we're in the summer is because we don't

(01:54:51):
want to compete against, everyone else and so these these
women want to be paid like what we should. Be,
paid well then compete on on the same time the
same interest level as.

Speaker 9 (01:55:04):
The men so a little clarification, With, that scott the
the reason why w N b a is in the
summertime is because it was the the owners when they
created the w N, b a and that there might
be other reasons why it's stayed in, the summertime but
the reason that it originally was scheduled to be then

(01:55:26):
is so that the owners could have their arenas have
have events during the summertime that could fill their arenas
because there wasn't a whole lot other than like concerts.
And stuff so this is given more more events to fill,
those arenas and they've they've kept it in the summertime
because it's just when it's, traditionally, traditionally.

Speaker 4 (01:55:44):
Well nobody's nobody's going to the, arenash now so that
was a. Bad, decision yeah no one wants to go in.
The Summer and i'm sure it's as much as you
know that they don't want to. Compete regardless here here
it's it's basically been, around forever and no one watches
and no. One cares and the only reason people tune
into the to the to the W N b a

(01:56:07):
Is For. Caitlin clark. That's it, NOBODY else.

Speaker 10 (01:56:11):
I mean indiana's filling.

Speaker 4 (01:56:12):
The arena so so here's what. You do you have
the W N b a BECAUSE the nba is kind
of like funding this and and uh and. Supplementing it
so why not have A w nba game right before
you HAVE an, nba game have them on the, same
night and and you can figure out work out the
schedule and and even maybe even have your ticket holders

(01:56:35):
like they get, a special they get, a discount they get.
To whatever uh and and so you come out and
you get you get a two for, one special you
get you get something, you pay, you know and then
you get more interest, In it you get the interest
happening when people are interested. In watching like a lot
of people aren't really interesting even if it is the
W N b, A whatever they're still not totally interested

(01:56:57):
in watching because it's the summertime and.

Speaker 3 (01:57:00):
And they, you know they're they're, doing outside.

Speaker 4 (01:57:03):
They're doing a lot of. Other things and so have
it when basketball is supposed, to happen and Because the
christmas time is such a beautiful time to start the
season and then have the season go into the. Summer
LATER and i know it seems like a bit of,
a contradiction but when you're having championships kind of into,
the summer you're going to have more interest in. Your

(01:57:23):
arenas if these owners like you, just, said uh, you
know could get people into their arenas in the summer when,
nothing's happening well there.

Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
You, go yeah there you have an opportunity for playoff
games in. The summer. They will they're, watched championships there's
no question.

Speaker 4 (01:57:37):
About it and there's a lot of championships that happen
in the summer that people are really, interested in and they'll.
Do it but it would really build a following an
interest on THE. W nba so that's my solution for
all of the problems with THE w nba AND. The
nba actually have them play together at the, same time
but not at the, same time but, you know, same

(01:57:59):
days just.

Speaker 9 (01:57:59):
Different, times yeah and even if if that was something
that couldn't, get voted getting couldn't get enough votes, for
it even having them staying as. Separate seasons if, you
started if you STARTED the Nba in december and it
Went through july Or, early august then THE w nba,

(01:58:21):
season started you would have THE w nba season End
in October and november when people are more interested in
in going inside to, watch sports right.

Speaker 10 (01:58:33):
And go so there that's the that's something else to.

Speaker 9 (01:58:38):
Be done if if you're, not gonna if you don't
have enough people to, be, like yeah let's do.

Speaker 10 (01:58:41):
It at the same time.

Speaker 9 (01:58:43):
YOUR idea i think either way it could probably help
the W N b a IF the nba Started. ON
christmas i think that's a and that's something people have
been pining for for a. Long time starts and they
had it the one year AFTER the covid season, or
yeah AFTER the, covid season they decided they did it
that way and it ended UP being, I mean i

(01:59:08):
thought the calendar ended up being really good for the FOR,
the nba but then they went they went right back
to the Starting. In October so i'm not sure it will,
ever happen but it is it does feel like a.

Speaker 4 (01:59:21):
No, brainer well and part of my thought for having
them coincide with each other is that, you know and
maybe maybe ultimately you you you switch, them off like
because that's not a bad idea to have them start AFTER,
The nba but it was that people who are interested
in basketball are going to come TO an, nba game
and why not some of, those people it's going to

(01:59:43):
be more than what.

Speaker 10 (01:59:44):
They're having now they'll get exposed to women's basketball.

Speaker 9 (01:59:47):
Too and, be, Like HEY i'm I think i'll go
to more of these. Women's games see it's called. Happy
fish it's a it's a happy. Fish theory and the
happy fish.

Speaker 4 (01:59:55):
IS and i learned this ACTUALLY when i Lived, in
florida and so fly fishing in, the ocean you fish
for tarpin and and there's a place In The florida
keys where but the tarpin are chased by sharks and
so the sharks will eat the tarpin and the and
They'll eat and the only way to fish for these
tarpin is in. Shallow water and they come into the

(02:00:17):
shallow water. To feed but they get really nervous in
certain areas in the shallow water because the sharks can
kind of pin them up against the beach and. Eat
them so they want to they want to be in
this little spot where it's kind of a deep. Drop
off they, can escape but they're right there in a
shallow where they. Can feed and so and if you

(02:00:39):
find where the and the fish, are happy then because
they know they want, to eat they have, to eat
but they also know they. Can escape so it's finding
happy fish and where. They are and that's kind of
the theory with. These fans they're they're AT an, nba
game they want to. Watch basketball, they're there, and, so
yeah why not partake of this W nb a Thing

(02:00:59):
while i'm being a happy?

Speaker 3 (02:01:00):
Fish watching so that's my happy? Fish? THEORY yeah i,
like that? Didn't?

Speaker 9 (02:01:04):
YOU yeah i do like the happy. FISH theory i
had not. Heard that so you're gonna but you make
him unhappy because you're.

Speaker 3 (02:01:10):
Catching them well, and, there yeah but then you let.

Speaker 10 (02:01:14):
Them go but then you let him go and then
they're Happy against and that's.

Speaker 4 (02:01:16):
The thing we're going to catch, you like we're gonna
make you watch this w N, b a but we'll
watch you go. For it we'll let you go TO
the nba game when. You're done still there.

Speaker 3 (02:01:24):
YOU go i.

Speaker 4 (02:01:26):

Speaker 3 (02:03:00):
Espn, plus shawn welcome to. Your show how's.

Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
Your day my day's, Going, great scott thanks for holding
it down. As always charlotte is a, cool Town as
i'm sure you're, well aware so it's good to be
here and looking forward.

Speaker 3 (02:03:15):
To fights so what can we expect from the, Fights,
tonight well we.

Speaker 2 (02:03:20):
Got three tournament. Championship fights we got the phantom weights
which is one thirty, five vers women's fly weights one twenty.
Five vers and we. Got lightweights so, the small, fast
fighters you're probably going to see a lot, of movements
a lot, of spinning a lot of crazy takedown attempts

(02:03:41):
on high paced fights in three different. Weight classes so should.
Be fun it's it's one if you're new to the
sport of mixed martial arts and you're you're not necessarily
into all the nuance of like, you know ground game
and wrestling and stuff. Like that this would be a
good one to watch because these people never get tired
and are, constantly moving so it should be a. Fun

(02:04:03):
one and the winners get a belt and five hundred
thousand dollars straight into their, bank accounts so it's it's
life changing stuff for a lot of.

Speaker 3 (02:04:12):
These fighters.

Speaker 4 (02:04:14):
They, talk about, you know championships like in basketball and football,
and whatever and you get.

Speaker 3 (02:04:20):
A ring so is? The belt?

Speaker 4 (02:04:21):
Is that is that kind of the equivalent of the ring?
For fighters and do they do they have that same
kind of drive and like wanting to have? A, belt.

Speaker 2 (02:04:33):
Yes you're one hundred percent correct, On that AND actually
i kind of want it. TO change I want I.
WANT mma i want the fight world to also, give
rings because you can't wear those big obnoxious. Belts around,
you know you can't go to like a function and
carry it. With you it's, too unwieldy it's too.

Speaker 1 (02:04:54):
It's.

Speaker 2 (02:04:54):
Too PONDEROUS so i want us to be giving rings with.
The belts rings instead of the belts to separate us
from the rest of the combat. Sports world, but yeah
that's that's the mentality. People have they want, the belts
sometimes even more than they want. The money but the
belt is is what really kind of stamps your place
in the history of.

Speaker 3 (02:05:14):
The.

Speaker 4 (02:05:14):
SPORTS interesting i hadn't really Thought about, let's say you
just brought it Up and, i'm, like oh the belt's like. A,
Ring okay i've been waiting all day, for this the airing,
of grievances, AND uh i imagine that you.

Speaker 3 (02:05:27):
HAVE one I know.

Speaker 4 (02:05:28):
I Do uh and it kind of kind of coincides
with one of the one of the topics that we
were talking. About today but since it's, Your show i'll
let you decide who. Goes first if you want to,
Go first i'll.

Speaker 2 (02:05:42):
Go first you, Tell me i'm very eager to, hear
YOURS so i want to give you more time. For
Yours so i'm gonna. Air mind i'm gonna air. It
quickly here here's something that drives, me nuts and it
happens this time, Of year scott where, Equipment team, you
know the equipment departments of our favorite college football teams
are our least favorite college, football teams, they start they
start making the announcements about the uniforms that teams are, gonna,

(02:06:04):
wear RIGHT and i airic grievance with blackout uniforms for,
any school any team that does not already have black
in the. Color scheme If Your, penn state IF Your
ucla nebraska just announced that they were doing a. Blackout
Uniform iowa state is doing a blackout uniform to open.

(02:06:26):
The season you don't even have a smidgeon of black in,
your scheme not THE writing I Guess iowa state, might
have like in an, alternate logo there might be a
little black on the beak of the hawk that that
is a cyclone. Or whatever but like it's Borderline for
utah to have those those blackout uniforms because the only

(02:06:46):
place that black really exists in the color scheme is
in the drum. And feather but that, still counts so
they can wear. Blackout uniforms IF, you're byu you can't
have a. Blackout uniform If you're Stanford Or, notre dame
you cannot have a black. Out uniform grievance with blackout
uniforms for teams that don't have black anywhere near their.
SCHOOL identity.

Speaker 3 (02:07:09):
I actually, like THAT AND i.

Speaker 4 (02:07:12):
I do i you know YOU have, i mean why
not just have the just have all the colors of your,
predominant color like like one of the one of the
most powerful You Mentioned. Penn states when they have white
out Games At, penn state, They're incredible like it's it's
going to induce that same kind of excitement and everyone everyone,

(02:07:34):
wears white and, it's uh it's a tradition that a
lot of people who aren't Even Necessarily penn, state fans
but college, football fans they'll travel across the country just
to go to the whiteout Game At. Penn state it
just it's an experience and and kind of embracing and
rolling into who, you are you know you think of of.
B way i'm not Even well i'm not going to say,
that comment but, you know to have a, blue out,

(02:07:57):
you know because they're blue.

Speaker 9 (02:07:58):
Or.

Speaker 4 (02:07:58):
Whatever UH and i just think it goes a lot
a lot further than Trying TO and i love. YOUR
agreements I actually i really agree, with IT and i
think you just get further if you wanted to just go,
one collar go, one color that's. YOUR color i even
think the Red for utah would, be phenomenal just, you
know just a sea of red would. Be INCREDIBLE is

(02:08:20):
i think it's going to be as powerful as anything they,
could DO so i.

Speaker 2 (02:08:23):
Like it that's. My Favorite when utah goes, all red,
red helmet, red jersey, red pants, red sox, red shoes
that's My favorite. Utah uniform My favorite utah helmet ever
is the one that's behind you in the studio if
you're in, studio today where it's the matt red finish
with the red chrome drum and. FEATHER oversize i think
that's the coolest helmet they've. Ever worn like red on

(02:08:46):
red on red looks amazing for. The utes they've won
me over with some of the, white helmets and they've
won me over with some Of the, blackout games but
nothing will ever beat the crimson for Me, for UTAH and,
i think like, you said it should be the SAME.
FOR byu i think you see should never have a
like even a speck of black on. Their uniforms it's
iconic when they've got those powder blues and goals stick.

(02:09:07):
With that not everybody needs the. Blackout uniform leave It
to Oregon and maryland and the teams that do all the.
Crazy stuff, All.

Speaker 9 (02:09:15):
Right scott you go ahead and, air yours, but AFTERWARDS
uh i want to get to our. OUR listener, a
grievance that's that's, With You Oh, scott mitchell someone.

Speaker 2 (02:09:25):
Has it you can.

Speaker 4 (02:09:26):
Go first someone has agreements, with me well take. A,
Number jeez i'm sure there's a lot of people have agreements.
With Me uh so my GRIEVANCE is i got to
get out of bed, every day AND uh I just
i there's this whole thing ABOUT uh nfl players were
talking about their careers and the toll that it's taken
on their, their Bodies and i'm reminded of that toll,

(02:09:48):
every day AND every I wish I wish i didn't
have to get out. OF bed i WISH that i could,
ACTUALLY just i, don't know wake up and already be out.
Of bed because there's this moment and it's not it
doesn't last, all day but it, lasts about, you know
anywhere from like two to. Five minutes and IT'S when
i roll to the side of the Bed and i'm

(02:10:09):
sitting There and i'm just LIKE and i. JUST hurt
i just, have PAIN and i, have pain and just
IT'S like i have this pain in my shoulder now
that's just crept IN and i don't know where it,
came from but it's just. Another thing and it's like
pretty much any joint that's on. My body the only
thing that doesn't hurt is, My head like my brain

(02:10:31):
is actually the. Only THING but i just as THE older,
i get The more i'm feeling the toll on. My
body and so my grievance IS that i have to
get out of bed every DAY and I wish i
could just wake up already up and.

Speaker 3 (02:10:46):
Moving around there you. Have it.

Speaker 1 (02:10:51):
You should you.

Speaker 2 (02:10:52):
Shouldn't vent you know how they have those like beds
that they can you can elevate, the feet or they
can elevate the head part of. The bed you should
have one that does it laterally so it'll just roll
you out. Of bed he just pushed the button and
it just dumps it killed sideways and just dumps you out.
Of bed.

Speaker 3 (02:11:09):
There? DO you i don't know if you Remember.

Speaker 4 (02:11:11):
THE jetsons i think they had a conveyor belt where
it literally you just it would dump you out on
a conveyor belt and it would. Shower you it would
it would your you would run into, your clothes and
your clothes would just get, put on and your shoes
and everything and off. You Go and i'm sure we
have we have the technology available today that just throw
me out on a conveyor belt and just get me

(02:11:33):
ready for the DAY so i don't have to. Do
it that's What that's THAT'S what i Want for christmas
this year is is to be thrown onto a conveyor
belt that just does all the work.

Speaker 3 (02:11:42):
FOR me, I want I want ai to just take over.

Speaker 10 (02:11:44):
My Life The Mitchell Morning Solution Home Home morning solution?

Speaker 3 (02:11:49):
Is that what? Is that what we got to look
forward to? From, that yeah we'll sell It. ON amazon
i like it, All. Right james who's what grievance does
someone have with me SO that i? Can't wait so here.

Speaker 10 (02:12:02):
IT is i have a Grievance With.

Speaker 9 (02:12:04):
Scott mitchell at the time he was about the only
ute IN the nfl at the time he BECAME an.
Nfl fan, AS such i am A lifelong lions fan
since the seventh grade until the last. Two years who
knew that my best years would be when number nineteen was?
Under center all those? Dark YEARS should i blame number
nineteen for drawing me in OR should i be HAPPY

(02:12:25):
that i made an investment and still own likely the
largest Selection Of scott mitchell. Rookie CARDS so i guess
it sounds like he has a grievance that you made
Him a.

Speaker 4 (02:12:36):
Lions, Fan scott that's what, it Sounds and i'm sorry.
About that And because, LIONS fans i feel Sorry for.
Lions fans they've had a long suffering drought and it's
it's a great, sports city it, really is but they've
come they've, gotten BITTER and i felt the wrath of

(02:12:56):
their bitterness for YEARS when i. Was there, IN fact
i couldn't leave. MY home i was under Like The witness,
protection program. HIDDEN identity i. Had bodyguards i'm half joking,
on that but.

Speaker 3 (02:13:09):
Half not. It was it was a.

Speaker 4 (02:13:11):
Crazy, experience Look the lions is doing, good NOW and
i picked them as My super. BOWL contestant i actually
picked them to Win The super bowl, this year and
they're one of a few teams that haven't even made
it To The. Super BOWL so I really i do
hope That the lions. Come THROUGH and i appreciate. Your
fandom by, the way it's not easy being a loyal

(02:13:35):
fan in the.

Speaker 3 (02:13:36):
World today and so many people are fickle and they
just go with the people that win all.

Speaker 4 (02:13:40):
The time so you've gained a lot, of character a lot,
of loyalty a lot of, you know fortitude because of
your Choosing the lions as a as a as. A
fan so you've gained so much more in your personal
integrity than you could have in.

Speaker 9 (02:13:57):
Winning, championships scott do you want me to share the
off air, of course, his number so that he might
be able to send some of his rookie cards to
you to.

Speaker 10 (02:14:05):
Get signed is that something you'd like me to do
to reward.

Speaker 3 (02:14:09):
This guy i'm happy to sign. The cards just send
him in the Just Saying scott mitchell. Football player they'll
get that's a.

Speaker 10 (02:14:15):
Good point you've said that. That, works.

Speaker 3 (02:14:19):
Yeah well we'll.

Speaker 9 (02:14:20):
Chat off we see if you ever had you ever
had mail come to You For Utah COMBAT Fighter.

Speaker 10 (02:14:27):
Mma, Fighter.

Speaker 2 (02:14:29):
No but you know what that is actually? Pretty CRAZY?
IS i, i mean not a lot of people out
There want sean, O'Connell's autograph but probably two weeks ago
and an envelope showed up at my house at my
residence with no no, letter inside nothing, to explain just

(02:14:50):
my lone trading card FROM my usc days and just
a return paid, you know, postage paid stamped envelope with,
you know just the card and, you know, nothing, like
hey would you please sign? This card just trading card
and an envelope to send it. Back IN and i,

(02:15:11):
was like how did this wacko get my? Home address
but there.

Speaker 4 (02:15:15):
It is they'll, find you they will find they've. Found
Me everywhere i've lived they have. Found me uh and,
quickly too mind You Like scott. Mitchell, moment, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:15:28):
Yeah it was. Actually me OH see i sent the Card.

Speaker 2 (02:15:30):
To in, That case i'll sign it and send it
back to your, alter ego omar or whatever the person's
name is.

Speaker 4 (02:15:38):
On there, YOU know i HAD a i had a
secret NAME when i, played football by.

Speaker 2 (02:15:43):
The way, oh Yeah Like michael vick used to Go
By ron mexico. Or.

Speaker 4 (02:15:48):
Whatever yeah and so when you when so when the
teams you go in the hotel, and uh and you
had to check into. A name and so Mine Was.
Leroy gatewood was that was my that was my fake my.
Fake name and the guy who it was his it
was his childhood. Best friend and so the guy who

(02:16:11):
made all the hotel arrangements for for our team, is
like You'll Be, leroy gatewood because yet have people call
if you were if you're under your name, your name
and they called the harass you or to do all
kinds of. Crazy STUFF so i had a pseudo name
to check into hotels That. WAS leroy i.

Speaker 2 (02:16:27):
THOUGHT your i thought your secret hotel name was your. Middle.
Name uh and then the street you grew up on.

Speaker 3 (02:16:36):
My middle name in the STREET that i grew.

Speaker 2 (02:16:37):
Up, ON yeah i Would Be, michael countrywood which is
a really cool that's.

Speaker 4 (02:16:42):
Pretty good so my middle name Is, Actually scott so
that WAS so i could just go by my, first
name Which.

Speaker 2 (02:16:48):
Is william and you grow up on you grew Up
On Mitchell, Mitchell boulevards so your your Name Is, Scott Mitchell.

Speaker 4 (02:16:55):

on a street that had a name.

Speaker 6 (02:17:08):
To, It Sehany Scott scott south Or even scott two

Speaker 9 (02:17:16):
Two hundred because you said your first Name's, Actually, william

went by your Middle? Name scott, That's, YEAH well i My.

Speaker 4 (02:17:26):
Dad's william both grandpa's on mom and dad's Side, are
williams and both great grandpas and so it, was confusing
and so they just Called, me SCOTT so i Wouldn't and,
i'm like why didn't you just Name me scott then Instead?

Speaker 3 (02:17:40):
Of well and it's been hard my, whole life by, the.

Speaker 4 (02:17:43):
Way because you go to school and you have to
give your your first, given name, you know and so
every year It's, Like.

Speaker 3 (02:17:49):
William, WILLIAM mitchell, i go, THAT'S me i Go. By
scott this is a.

Not bad that has a couple more texted in here
as we've, Been, Talking grievance why is it? Still hot
i'm done Feeling like i'm burning ALIVE when i. Walked, Outside,
well grievance it's Because. It's august you you should you
should know it's still Hot. In AUGUST but, i understand, you.

Speaker 4 (02:18:55):
Know it's it's hard to get into football season when
it's still stingy and warm. Like that when you start
to get that kind of that feel in, the air
that autumn feel in, the air it feels like we're
starting everything so much earlier than we. Used, to it just,
school football all of it seems a. Lot earlier when
we broadcast the, football games we go into the booth

(02:19:17):
and it's, you Know early august or just the Beginning,
Of September and i'm, just like by the time we
get out of Here, in november it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (02:19:24):
Freezing cold so enjoy the heat while you. Got it
THAT'S all i. Gotta Say, all right what else, You,
Got james.

Speaker 9 (02:19:31):
Let's see grievance with people that don't put shopping carts
into where. THEY go i see you WITH the byu shirt,
and jeorts thinking you're such a.

Speaker 2 (02:19:41):
Bad boy.

Speaker 10 (02:19:42):
JUST stop i have too many dents. From that i'm with.

Speaker 9 (02:19:46):
This, grievance okay it is not hard to walk the
couple hundred feet at the most to the, cart, caddy
like just just put. It, away also when people leave
them in the, parking, lot WELL now i can't, Park
there so in the, PARKING.

Speaker 10 (02:20:03):
Spots i should, say, so, like yeah put your. Cart
away it's.

Speaker 3 (02:20:07):
NOT hard i always try to park next to the
car the park the. Cart.

Speaker 4 (02:20:11):
Ben, yeah YEAH so i take a cart AND then
i get to my car and just put it.

Speaker 3 (02:20:16):
Right there?

Speaker 9 (02:20:18):
Do, that yeah there was actually so back when, the
SHOW The espn radio nightly Show was Freddie. And fitzimmons
it's a different it's Still, in fitzimmons but it's got different. Co,
hosts now he read a thesis from someone he knew
that was. In college someone wrote a thesis about how

(02:20:39):
that about whether or not people put their cart away
in the, cart corral, kark caddy whatever you want to,
call it cart ben is an indication of whether or
not you, need governing you need more or less governing in.
Your life if you can do it on, your own
you don't need As many you don't need as many
laws as another. Person does if, you don't you, need

(02:21:02):
more you need more. Government oversight, it was it.

Speaker 4 (02:21:04):
Was hilarious it sounds like people who don't put their
carts in are bad people OR their. Byu fans that's
what it sounds like. To me so They wear george
like O c it's it's one of. Those two, All,
right sean we're gonna let you go have Fun and
charlotte and safe.

Speaker 2 (02:21:21):

Be a. Lions fan but there's one subject that we
didn't talk, about today, and well there's a couple OF
questions i want to ask you before we, Leave.

Speaker 3 (02:22:29):
Here james one is.

Speaker 4 (02:22:32):
An article came out with the twenty five most important
people in college football. This year so the twenty FIVE
most i guess it's most interesting people in, college Football
and i'm going to ask you Who is who do
you think is your most interesting person in college football?

Speaker 9 (02:22:53):
This? YEAR james, i mean in mine's not going to
be off the, very MUCH but i think that it's
hard not to Say arch manning in this one and
the the, whole art the whole premise of the article
is to say there's more people other Than arch manning.
That's interesting but it's like He's a manning first. Of,

(02:23:15):
all secondly other than a couple of starts he got
last season against much, lesser opponent NOWHERE near, sec competition
we don't know how good. He is like he was
awesome in, those games but like we don't know against
really actually good opponents how good.

Speaker 10 (02:23:33):
He Is and I'm just i'm just very Curious.

Speaker 3 (02:23:38):
About.

Speaker 9 (02:23:38):
Arch now I'm a, colts fan as, you KNOW SO
i i have an affinity For the mannings Because Of.
Peyton manning so that's the other part of it is
to why he's interesting. TO me I just i want
to see if he's anything close to, his brothers and
and out of, the brothers if he's if he's closer
to the if, he's great if he's Closer to peyton
or Closer, to eli because there's levels.

Speaker 10 (02:23:58):
To that so he's the most interesting guy.

Speaker 9 (02:24:01):
To ME if i had to say, someone else which
this article, is trying that's the point of, THIS article
I Mean bill Belichick At, north carolina same kind. Of
thing we know he's great IN, the nfl but we
also know That Without tom brady hasn't been, as good
and we, Don't know so There's one he's not obviously
Gonna Have tom brady's Quarterback In north carolina, and two

(02:24:23):
we don't know how good he is good he's going
to be at the. College LEVEL so i would say
those two probably the most obvious.

Speaker 4 (02:24:29):
TO see i think it's along the Lines Of, bill
belichick not Because It's. BILL belichick i saw this thing
this Morning About, john Gruden And john gruden's been very
adamant that he wants to get back, into coaching but
he wants to coach. In college and in, My brain

(02:24:50):
i'm trying, to think, YOU know I Think john gruden
might be a good. College coach but you got a
lot of WELL known, Nfl, people uh it's kind of headed,
toward colleges and you have to wonder if it's because
of the ability to get INTO ni l and it's
kind of an open, you, know uh Wild wild west

(02:25:13):
kind of thing where if you have, the money you
can you can really make. A difference so, to me
he's interesting only because can. He can he really turned
something Around At north carolina with through nil And And
texas tech is what's also interesting to me because they
spent more money than anyone and they were one of

(02:25:35):
these programs that maybe doesn't have the name Like an
oregon Or An ohio State or texas and and so
they but they got deep pockets and and can they
can they entice people to Go, To. Lubbock texas and if,
they can it's you're going to see more and more.
Of it and you're going to see more Of It.

(02:25:57):
John Gruden And john gruden goes because It's Not, john
gruden it's it's a it's a, well known it's a
wealthy donor that goes, give me, you know Like like
i'll give you. An, Example kansas kansas had a three
hundred million dollar donation given to their school that they
believe perpetually will will actually give them funding for nil

(02:26:22):
through investments through, you know interest that you would make
off of three hundred. Million dollars and so they just
they just the interests every year is just going to go.
To nil something along. Those lines and What if, kansas,
says hey We Want john gruden and and and and
they go and and the other side of it is.
These coaches, you know you can you can pay a

(02:26:43):
ton of money to to coaches, These days so it's it's.
Very appealing, you know these these, coaches go, YOU know
i don't have to deal with a lot of things
they have to deal with IN, The nfl and basically
it's THE draft. I got the ONLY way i get
better is if we hope we draft, right players whereas
in the, you know, in college it's like and go,

(02:27:04):
get them just go, find them you go buy them whenever.

Speaker 10 (02:27:07):
You want agency all. The time yeah, To me and
it's not for.

Speaker 4 (02:27:13):
The reason, you know Can build belichick coach and all,
That stuff but can they, you know can those schools
that really went big? Into nil can they can they move?
The needle can they? Win championships and if, they can
you see more. Of it but if, you can't then
maybe it starts heading back a different direction where, players,
Go yeah i'm gonna go to. Traditional places i'm gonna

(02:27:35):
go the place is going to best prepare me FOR.
The nfl and you know that you know that that's,
the better the better route.

Speaker 9 (02:27:42):
To GO so i do like How, with belichick big
Names like belichick And And, deon sanders, you know a
few years ago Going to Colorado And, north carolina where
it's like they let's see if this big name guy who,
can coach.

Speaker 10 (02:28:01):
Can actually coach?

Speaker 1 (02:28:03):
Any?

Speaker 9 (02:28:03):
Program right can they coach a program that has never
really been that close to a. National championship, of course
not Never, for colorado they didn't, win one but it's
been a. Long Time for Colorado And. NORTH carolina i
don't maybe, they've won Not that i'm. Aware of it
was a long time ago if they've ever won a
national championship. In FOOTBALL so i do like. That trend
And If john gruden were to go, TO college, I

(02:28:25):
mean I think kansas would be a great example of
like a program that's that's on the power in the
power for but also is not known.

Speaker 10 (02:28:34):
For football now we got this all time.

Speaker 9 (02:28:36):
Great coach let's see if he can Actually make kansas
into a. FOOTBALL power i do like. That, tree yeah it'll,
be fascinating no question. About it you mentioned joe You Mentioned.
Texas tech joey McGuire is on the, athletics list is
one of the twenty four most interesting people in. COLLEGE
football i think it's a good call with all the

(02:28:57):
money that. They've Spent scott as you were talking about,
this guy he coached him, last year but, before this
he's been a high school a very successful high school Coach.
In texas, he's older he's an older gentleman at this
point for a guy who's this new in. College, football uh,
it's uh that's definitely that that program is. Really INTERESTING

(02:29:19):
but i think it's a good call To Say joe
maguire in and of himself is also interesting being the
guy to lead, this program who who fancies themselves as
the new as a new blood in.

Speaker 10 (02:29:30):
College football with all this money.

Speaker 4 (02:29:32):
They've, Been given, it's like what do? You need and,
they well this is what. We need is that you
have it and so can you do? It now and
that that is that is something. TO say i mean
even Even, with dion, you know they haven't been Great,
AT colorado i mean they've, been better, you know right.

Speaker 10 (02:29:50):
One year only one year where they've. Been, better yeah,
but uh but they.

Speaker 4 (02:29:55):
ARE better i mean he Produced A heisman trophy winner
and he and he produced a fifth round draft pick in.
The quarterback so that WAS something i said That with Tony.
And Cheek, all right, With that i'm going to. Say
goodbye thank you so much for tuning in to. The Show.
