Episode 7: V & A Waterfront

This Waterfront been named as Cape Town’s biggest tourist attraction. The Waterfront evokes images of the early activities at the harbour but most of its charm lies in the commercial set of huge entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theatres and movies. The invitation has been sent to you to discover the experience live, work, shop and play at the V&A Waterfront.
When you walk along the Waterfront you will notice a lot of heritage. Since the origins in 1860, trade routes to the East transformed the city into a hive of seafront activity. The discovery of gold and diamonds in South Africa meant that the sections of the harbour, the prince Alfred and Queen Victoria basis was built. The area is very notable for its outstanding heritage buildings; it retains charm of Victorian industrial architecture and the Victorian Gothic-style Clock Tower with a view of all the activities in the harbour.
The V&A Waterfront is a perfect place to go shopping for souvenirs. In the different Shopping Centres, you will find the mayor retails, international brands, and a range of art, jewellery and specialty shops. Also if you are a museum fan you can visit the South African Maritime Museum, which showcases the maritime history of Table Bay and houses the largest collection of model ships in South Africa. Are you more interested in the history of the time of the Dutch East Indian Company, than you can visit the Chavonnes Battery Museum, which was designed to further protect the Cape.
