Speaker 1 (00:26):
All right, guys, and we are live with Extra Point
with Phil Jones. Welcome back everybody. All right, guys, welcome
in Phil Jones with you Extra Point, another week of
talking high school football. Guys, Thanks so much for being
with us on this Monday flying solo today. Except with

(00:49):
you guys, So no LG, no Mark. So uh it's
you and me, and as the old song says, we
will disagree. And anyway, I'm gonna talk about high school
football today. You guys that are veterans of the show,
you know the drill by all means let me know
where you're checking in from, who your favorite team is.

(01:11):
And for those of you that may be new to
the show, I make the viewers and the listeners as
much a part of the show as what I have
plan for content, so you can be as much a
part of the show or as little of the show.
If you just want to sit back and observe and
just gonna take it all in, that's fine too. But
know that I'll try to get to every single comment. Now.

(01:34):
Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't. But I'm gonna
bring up the comments here on my phone and we'll
get you guys in here and find out who all
is in the house. Got a lot to talk about today. Obviously,
we're inching closer and closer to the start of the
Georgia high school football season in twenty twenty five season.
One of the things we're gonna talk about today, guys

(01:56):
is the I put together and we should have it
posted this week as part of our newsletter, but and
Finn'll have it up on Instagram and all of our
social media platforms. But the top ten games to watch for,
the top the games that I think the top ten
best matchups this year to look for. Now, it's kind

(02:18):
of tough because man, it's a lot of great games
to look for this year, and I'm sure I left
them out. Yeah, I'll say this. Instead of it being
the ten best, it's ten games to watch for. I
need to probably kind of redefine that. But we're gonna
talk about that. I'll let you know what my choices were.

(02:40):
Interesting thing, I noticed that most of the really good
games are gonna come in the early part of the season.
I mean, that's just the way it kind of played
out as I was going through the whole schedule, and
believe me, it really was an all day thing. Yesterday
you can only imagine trying to go week by week,

(03:02):
team by team and try to find out, you know,
this matchup was pretty good, that one was pretty good,
and that was a very tedious process. So I'm sure
that there are some games that you know, we could
have checked off and and could have definitely qualified as
one to watch. But I think you're gonna like the
ones that I've got for sure. Also, of course, you know,

(03:25):
we got to talk about it. I'm sure most of
you have heard by now. A lot of you, of
course commented on our post. We were one of the
first sites in the state to break the news of
the awful shooting, the homicide in Carroll County that involved
Carroll County men and unfortunately involved two Well I know

(03:48):
there's two players. I think there's a juvenile involved as well.
I do know though, that there were two older young
males who were identified because of their age. I'm assuming
this because they're eighteen or over. And again it's just
said all the way around. Now, you look at it
from lives lost, that's number one. You look at it

(04:11):
from lives derailed careers, derailed football. Uh, you know what's
part of these young these young two young men lives.
So we don't want to say that anything is more
important than a human life. It's not. But you know,
at the same time, you've also got the two lives
of these young men who, while they are alive, their

(04:32):
football careers, you know, could be done. And these were
two of the best football players on their teams, their
respective teams. Of course, talking about Kamarie Farmer and I'm
trying to think of this other gentleman's name. Somebody help

(04:55):
me help me out with that. Uh it's a young
man from Balladen. I had it written down, but I
think I'm misplaced it. Uh. But you guys again, I'm
sure you know we've posted it. Uh. We We had
a post yesterday morning on Facebook that a lot of
you liked and shared, and I don't know really a
lot of details. I've had some people message me that

(05:16):
said it was some really nasty stuff. So I'm going
to try to find out some details. Of course, I'm
definitely limited as what I can say because I just
don't know. Wasn't there but awful, awful situation. And our
thoughts and prayers go out first of all to the
family of the deceased, and then of course our thoughts

(05:40):
and prayers also go out to Camorie Farmer and that
second young man who played for Fouden who was involved,
Joshua Davis. I believe it was his name, that's right
when Simo Villa of us have me out with that.

(06:00):
I appreciate that brother, but nevertheless, terrible situation. And then
most of you woke up to that yesterday morning and
just think, man, you you know, I was looking at
Camori Farmer, I was looking at his Facebook page and
he had just posted I think on Friday, a lot
of the workouts that he was going through and uh,

(06:22):
and then who would have known, you know, two days
later that he would be sitting in jail charge with murder. Unbelievable,
just just unbelievable. And you know, I hate to say this, guys,
but looks like we have about one of these every year,
don't we. And we have these situations, you know, it's
I don't think it's that every year. It seems like
it's happened in way too often. Tell you that, but

(06:46):
that's a that's a terrible situation. You know, your life
changes in an instant. I'll say this and I'll move on.
There was a friend of mine he's a regular watcher
of the show. I'm not going to name any names,
and you know I always protect my sources, but a
gentleman who he was friends with, a young man who

(07:14):
had transferred to Carrollton. I believe it was one of
the schools over there. I think it was Carleton, and
I believe, as the story goes, I was told he
was asked to go with these three young men and
he declined. And you want to talk about good decisions, Yeah,

(07:35):
he made the right decision. They had invited him to
go along to quote unquote take care of some business,
and thankfully he did not go along. But you know,
very chilling to hear that kind of that kind of
story where you know that young man made the right decision,
decided to stay away from trouble and he is a
free man and he's alive, you know, today because of that.

(07:59):
But anyway, situation, All right, let's take a look see
who all is in the house. Yes, some really really
good comments from you guys. I want to say hello
to my buddy Wada and Paul checking in from Saint Louis, Missouri.
Jerry Harrison says, every decision you make has consequences. They
trash all three of their lives and their families. You know. Unfortunately,
that's a good point. Kelly Mitchell is checking out the show.

(08:19):
Kelly checking in from BRIT's County. What's up, my man,
Stephen k Win.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Our extended employee, not really but in extended de facto employee.
If I tg next, Stephen k Winn says, Unfortunately, it's
that situation on every level for the Carlton and ballot
and community.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, that's another thing. You know, you got these coaches
who now have got to deal with this. Of course,
the let's let's face it, when football teams get together,
these coaches really become extended fathers. Yeah, football team becomes

(08:57):
a family. So it's going to be I don't want
to say, Anthony, it's just something to keep an eye
on how how this is going to affect Carrollton and
bow And because again I don't want to make it
out where football is more important than life. It's not.
But as they say, the show must go on. You're

(09:17):
talking about a defending state champion looking for their fourth
straight state title, and you're talking about Carrollton Joy King
Course ruying to do everything again to finally win that
first state title for Carrollton since he's been there, and
so that is the reality as well. Guys. It's not
the I know, listen, I know, it's not life or death.

(09:38):
But these coaches get paid a lot of money, and
when something like this happens, it's you know, it's up
to the coaches to try to rally the troops and
get everybody back in the right frame of mind. And
you know that's one of the many fallouts of this
whole thing, right, I mean, it's like this thing has
got so many tentacles that you can point to. And again,

(09:58):
I get it. Football. You may say, willfield, that's not
very important, but it's a part of these players' lives.
And for those two players, Farmer and Davis, you know,
they were almost certain to be playing at the next level.
David Wood's checking in high field, Davidood chicking in from

(10:21):
Grayson ram Country coaching more than football. It's a tough
job with these boys, that's right. David, Appreciate all you do. Buddy.
Luke Bush, my man, Luke Bush. He he knows something
about taking care of these boys. He does a lot
for the Lounges County High football team. Luke me and
Luke at a very friendly uh bagon for it the

(10:44):
other day over the weekend. It was pretty funny. I'll
share with you about what it was. Nothing major, but Luke,
thanks so much for checking out the show, my man,
And was just talking with your head coach Adam Carter,
and we're gonna try to get over there maybe this
week and talk to Coach Carter find out what's happening
with those Lowndes High Vikings. All right, let's see who

(11:05):
else is in the house today again. Let me know
if you're checking out the show. I mentioned Whalen Polk,
Stephen k Win, Kelly Fountain checking in from up in Rome.
Kelly Fountain passed along prayers for Carrollton. Absolutely, Zoe Hill,
Big Chris was in the building. What's up, Zoe. I
know you're ready for your Chris High Cougars. Guys, is

(11:26):
it just me? Or is there or is there not?
A renewed sense of optimism across the state. All these teams,
everybody's zero and zero right now. Your favorite team is
gonna win the region. Everybody we're gonna win the state
right now. Everybody's on the same level. Now, reality may

(11:50):
kick in once we get started. But right now, everybody
zero and zero Joshua Chase Guard to fill what's up?
Bud Viking Nation in the house. Absolutely, josh thanks so
much checking out the show. Luton Nelson, Big Beaufford, as
he is well known, prayer is going up all involved. Hey, hey, Louke,
look at what I got on my man. I'm gonna

(12:11):
turn myself off there, Luke, look at my shirt. Man,
you like that? Donna make you and the Beaufford fans,
you make everybody else ticked. Doll that at me, my man.
Tony Woolf, longtime athlete director for Beauford, still in a
very important capacity up there with the wolves. See he

(12:32):
sent me this and a long sleeve shirt last year
part of a Beauford care package, and man, I do
appreciate it. So uh, I just like that, my man.
Uh Bush. What I'm going to tell you what Luke
and I were talking about. Luke and I were talking
about athletes and quarterbacks. You know you got this category now,

(12:52):
well you you categorize players. Of course, we've been doing
this top ten. I've been doing this top ten for
for quarterbacks, running back, all the positions. I just got
through doing the defense, and now I've switched over to
the offense. But one of the categories I did was athletes, okay,
and Luke and I got into a friendly discussion about

(13:15):
Jase Johnson, the head or of the quarterback for the
Lowonsigh Vikings. Now I've got jas as a quarterback, and
Luke was arguing that he's an athlete now and again
it's splitting here is here, and I don't really want
to get too deep into it, but to me an athlete,
and I love to hear y'all say them, so, to
me an athlete. And the way we look at it

(13:36):
here at I TG next to the athlete is when
you play multiple positions. Give an example, Prince Jean Valdosta.
He can play quarterback, you can play running back, in
return kick see and he does all that. For Valdosta,
that's the definition of an athlete. Jace is a quarterback, period.
That's it. Now, not to say that he couldn't evolve

(13:59):
into an athlete and return kicks and maybe play some defense,
but anyway, that's kind of how to try to find
the difference between a position player and an athlete. So
that's kind of what Luke and I were having a
friendly disagreement about but nevertheless, Jim Blair checking in Collwood

(14:19):
County pickers. What's up, Jim, Nancy Sullivan, barrell Worth County.
Johnny Hoakum speaking of Prince gen and the Cats. Johnny Holcom, Johnny,
that's a great job of hitting up that Valdosta David
Water Museum over there. Johnny holkm is checking out the show.
Adam Hips. I take it you agree with me on that.

(14:39):
Jim Blair says, gonna be Milton, gonna go down. I
got you, but I'm trying to read that waiting man.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss, buddy hanging in there.
Lost my step mom a couple of weeks ago, and
I need prayers waiting prayers up for your brother for sure.

(15:00):
Garry hears Jerry, I knew you want to get your
digs in about Monroe area. Jerry. It takes a chance,
does not miss an opportunity. Jerry says, top ten athlete
has to be Jasion Davis at Monroe Area. I hear you.
Tayretta Mayretta ladies and gentlemen is in the house. What's up? Phil?
Myriada football is on? Somebody give me the do. What

(15:23):
is the real deal on Marietta. Okay, you got the
new head coach coming in, and Mama Flint went up
there and visited Marietta, and you've got our new coach
up there. Gosh, well, I'm not good with names today.

(15:43):
He was our guy from Edgewater, Cameron Duke. It's like
when I save the school name, the real name flicks.
Cameron Duke made a lot of headway down at Edgewater, Orlando,
and that's who Marietta has turned to to take over
the Blue Devils. Now. Marietta has been one of those
teams proud history, proud heritage, wanna state championship. Not too

(16:07):
long ago, I was under Richard Morgan, and listen, I
don't mean this with any disrespect at all, but I
think in some cases, and this is the case with
Richard Morgan and Marietta, sometimes the coach just loses his mojo.
I'm not saying he loses his ability to coach. That's
not what I mean. Richard Morgan is a fantastic coach,

(16:28):
longtime coach of Marietta, but he just just something wasn't
clicking there anymore. And maybe it was just a cycle
of going through a certain you know, a certain caliber
of players. But Marietta they really have not been that
competitive the last couple of years. With apologies in my
buddy Roster Sutherland, but listen, it's a top flight program.

(16:48):
You know, there are these schools every year that should
always be in the mix. I think that's what I
said about thomas Phille about five years ago. I don't
know how many of you remember that, but there I
was talking about then back then, that it does this
state good when you've got certain programs that are competitive.

(17:12):
Marietta is one of those, Thomasville is one of those.
Valdosta is one of those. I remember one. Valdosta went
through the years of what would be like three and
seven and two and eight, and you know, that's just
not good. You know, it doesn't matter if you're a
fan of those teams. Yeah, those are the programs, the
blue bloods that should always be competitive. Nope, that makes

(17:36):
sense to you guys. But anyway, all right, Ezra Harrison says,
what's up? Phil Harrison, quarterback at Monroe checking in. What's happening? Brother?
What's going on? Lake Godwin LG LG. We miss you, man.
I figured i'd give lg A a week off athlete

(18:00):
depends on the context in terms of college recruiting and
athletes recruited as a versatile player because college is mediaus
a player a position other than what ging the Jason's
the gra athlete, but he's a quarterback first, yes, and
that's kind of the way I looked at it, and
that's what I was stilling. Luke, thanks for chiming in. Larry,
appreciate you. You good to hear from you. All Right,

(18:21):
there is a Marquaus Cross Colin Seal. Now I'm gonna
take a stab of the dark. And I hope I'm
not butchering your name, Marquis Cross. I'm assuming that you
are a part of the Dudah family talking about my

(18:42):
career Cross and I hope I'm not butchering his name
of either. Let me know about that, Donny Jarvis. The
audio is so much better. Thank you for listening to
your listeners. Absolutely, you guys can see that we are
in uh we're in the my abode today instead of

(19:02):
being on location where we have been here the last
few weeks. We've either been at the Big Nixon valdostin
my little mushroom. Well we we bring you back here
to the old home instead, and uh, this is where
I am doing the show from today. So I hope
everything is looking well and hope it's sounding uh wells
as well. So Donnie, thank you for that, Buddy, appreciate that.

(19:26):
Stephen k Win says. Chauncey Magwood was an athlete senior
year at Lee County. He played quarterback, wide receiver, degendsive
back at different points of the season. Uh yeah, so
that's your athlete. And I think we've all made the
point there for sure. Ross Sutherland, now I was talking
about Marietta. Wanted to know what the lowdown is on Mariette. Well,
here's the man. Along with tay Retta Marritta, I've got

(19:48):
Roster Sutherland. Those are our two big Marietta representatives, and
Roster says coach Duke has already changed the culture in
a good way for this young team. This is the
most optimistic I've been in a while, and at least
return of the playoffs this year on paper, and I
hear you, and that's what I was talking about earlier.
I think this is the most optimistic overall state of

(20:12):
fans that I have seen in a long time. I mean,
we're looking forward to the season. You got everybody that
you know, you got all the state champions that are
thinking about repeating, you know. Uh and again I mean
to get back on the negative clique here, but you know,
how is you know what happened with ballot, Now, how
is that going to affect there run for a fourth

(20:35):
consecutive state championship, something unheard of, something that would already
be tough to do without the added drama. But now
it's gonna get even tougher as as we move, as
they move forward. But of course, you know, that's gonna
been my theme of the Uh, that's gonna been my

(20:58):
theme of this off season. You know, I I've been
saying that this is gonna be the year of the repeat.
Uh and again I wrote a story about that not
long ago. You guys can check it out at it
g next. Uh. You know where I thought that Milton's
got a great chance of repeating. North A. Cooney's got
a great chance. Bowden who I'm missing here, Grayson of

(21:19):
course Grayson. So yeah, I think, Uh, obviously there's a
lot of optimism. And of course, other than those teams
that are having to repeat, Carver Columbus. Uh. Other than
those teams that are having to repeat that, You've got
a lot of teams that feel like that they can
knock off the state champ. So Matthew Fielder, what's up brother?

(21:41):
Checking out the show? I mentioned Luton Nelson Crosses a
darn good quarterback. Uh. Look, I had to Uh, I
had to sweeten it up there family show. You know
what I mean. Uh, even though the damn is breaking,
it's not that bad word when there. I love it.

(22:02):
One be alla us. That is the name of the day,
says can't wait for the season to start. Tons of
talent and competition in five A. Look, I've been saying
all along five A. I think it's the toughest class
from top to bottom Region two And we had a
little discussion. I think the LG and I had a

(22:22):
little bit of discussion about that last week. Well, is
it six A or five A the toughest classification? I
think overall, I think it's five A. And I'm gonna
tell you what, And I don't have to really look
any further than our Class six A top ten. Okay, guys,

(22:45):
I just did the Class six A top ten. It
was our final preseason top ten. You're truly have been
ranking all the teams so far this year. And when
I got to six A, I was doing the top ten.
I think it was Thursday or Friday, the last week
getting there. But when I got to the like past

(23:06):
team numbers seven, I was like, hmm hmmm. I mean
I really had to dig. I mean I really had
to let me think you and I like the top ten.
I like what we came up with. My point being

(23:26):
that like teams one through six, one through seven were
pretty much I think everybody would agree that those teams
in any particular ward would be the seven best teams.
And I don't mind, and I don't share it with
you here and just say it, but the final two

(23:48):
or three teams in my Class six A top ten
were it was almost like a U pin the tail
on the donkey kind of thing, and no disrespect. And
again you'll see it. I'll share it with you. No
disrespect obviously, if you're if we think enough of you
to rank you in the top ten, there's a lot
of respect with that. But there could have been for

(24:09):
those teams that came in at positions eight, nine and ten,
I could have gone with another dozen teams. Maybe maybe
not that many, but you get my drift. All right,
we'll go over to the top ten here in just
a minute. Joshua Chase guarantee getting back in the conversation here.

(24:31):
He says, Phil, here's a good question for you. With
Jase Juice Johnson being the number two quarterback in the nation,
how much pressure do you think is on Adam Carter
and the Vikings to win region and compete for a
state title. I know, LG and I talked a little
bit about this more than once, and I'm gonna be
honest with you. I don't think there's a lot of

(24:54):
pressure at all. I don't. I think this is again
this is O's opinion. I think the powers that be.
Of course, I guess you'd have to start with Danny Ritchshaw.
He is the athletic director at at Lowndes and that's
gonna be the first line of defense, so to speak,

(25:16):
for coach Carter to get through. And maybe that's a
bad choice of words, but you guys understand what I'm saying.
Of Course, you got to get you know, you got
to please the board. You know you got to please
the football guys. Uh. Well, it's always been at Lowndes.
But I think what I'm sensing is because Adam Carter
has already come out and told me. He said, look,

(25:36):
you know, twenty twenty five is going to be could
be a challenge for us. Now, that's not him waving
the white flag. Okay, Chase, That's not what I'm saying.
But I think there's an understanding, especially Chase. I'm sorry,
josh Wa do you get about Joshua Chase? I know
we talked about that anyway, Joshua Chase. I'm just addressed Booth.

(26:02):
Lowndes lost. I believe all but one starter on the defense. Uh.
I like their offensive line a lot. I like their
offensive lot a Lownes, and I don't think Lowndes is
gonna have any problem scoring points. I think it may
be given up points. So to answer your question, I
know I'm taking the long way home when your questioned
or your or the answer for it. I don't think

(26:24):
there's that much pressure. I really don't. I think that
Lounges would like to win the region. I think that
is the goal, get into the playoffs. But man, it's
you know, look, I and I and I'll tell you
about speaking of the playoffs, nothing. I'm gonna go over
with you guys, is I put together a potential playoff

(26:44):
matchup and and in that Lownes has a really good
chance Joshua Chase of playing Beautford again. And we'll talk
about that here in just a minute. One, Simo Villa
Lobas says, brother, you can send me questions all night.

(27:08):
I'll hit you up games for ring sizing. There wait
a minute, games for ring season. Their best team in
terms of talent this year. Yes, yes, yes, I agree
with that one hundred percent. In my uh top ten

(27:29):
matchups to watch for this year, I think I said
that in my comments. I said that this might be
coach nicholas best team since he arrived, at least the
best team the first year that he got there, when
he took the Red Elephants of the twenty twenty two
state championship and they lost to Hughes. I think it's

(27:51):
the best team since then. So yes, one, Simo Villa Lobas,
I agree with you on that one. By the way, Joshua,
Jay's going to I hope I answer your question. Austin,
A B. Butler's in the house. Give it up for
a B. My man Phil Jones himself. What you talking about, bro?

(28:13):
You the man? We are close to kick off to
the twenty twenty four season. Absolutely, Oscar Malls, my man
from Harbor, Columbus is checking out the show. What's up? Brother?
Chris Cole finally made it in. Chris said, man, I
ain't gonna waste all this time and I'll see that.
I'm gonna wait till we get close. What's up, Chris?
Thanks so much for checking out the show, brother, Brooks County.

(28:36):
By the way, I got Brooks County in my top
ten matchups games that you must watch. Who do you
think it was, Chris? Which Brooks County game do you
think I've got? As Brooks County's been one of ten
statewide games not to miss. What do you think it was? Chris?

(28:58):
Let me know, brother, Look who just walked in here.
It's my buddy, my brother, longtime brother from another mother,
Rusty Cravy aka the jink dog in the house. Rusty,
what's up, my man? Russey's Jelly Cravy, says Phill Jones.
Let's talk about them Blue Devils. Absolutely, Hey, that's talking

(29:20):
about optimism. That's a team, that's a community, that's a
fan base tiff County that is really rejuvenated from last
year's good showing. You want to look at all of
these saying what do you mean last year they won
two games. I'm telling you where Tiff County was from
where they had fallen to under Noel Dean. They are

(29:48):
so much better. And yes it was not measured last year,
and whens the loss as I get it. The man,
they looked so much better last year. I think they'll
be in proved. I don't think there's any doubt about that.
Jeff Littlton is doing a great job. I'm hearing a
lot of great things. Earl Brooks, his son Cam plays for,

(30:10):
of course, Thomas County Central. He is defensive and extraordinary.
He is committed to the University of California. Golden Bears
and Earle went out to the Thomas County Central. I
believe it was the OTAs that they had. Chiff County
was one of the teams, and Earl was talking about

(30:33):
tiff County. In fact, Earl made one of the best
overviews I have seen anywhere this year. He talked about
each team, give a good bit of detail. It was
a pretty long, lengthy post, but I liked it, liked
it a lot. Earl he's a good great man, great family,
saw to the earth people, and he knows his football. Obviously.

(30:55):
He raised a good kid. He raised a great football player,
a great kid and grave and there's some brothers and sister.
But anyway, but he talked about Tiff County and he
said that Tiff County has got some athletes. They look good. Now.
One thing Earle said that kind of confused me. I
think Earl said that they had some athletes, but the

(31:18):
paulam may be getting them the football. Now. I like
Tiff County's quarterback and I don't know if they were
using a different quarterback or not. But last year had
a chance to see is it is it Damien Davis?
Is that his name? I may be off. It's helped
me out. Tiff Gunny quarterback's name. Saw me in that

(31:38):
Cal County game last year. He led the Tiff County offense.
And I'm gonna tell you the kid was throwing the
ball Tiff cown or Yeah, Tiff County got into this
passing game that they were rocking and rolling, and I
mean they were. He was throwing all kinds of darts
receivers were running great routes. That's why I became really

(32:00):
optimistic on Tiff County for this year from what I
saw last year where they give Couchwock County all that
they can handle last year up at Brodie Field. I
tell you, the one thing that's gonna be interested to
watch it with Tiff County is the fan base. They've
got to get those fans back in the seats, and
I think that's already mission accomplished. I think there's so

(32:22):
much optimism of at Tiff County and Rusty. You can
kill them what you're hearing up there, but I think
there's so much optimism that that right there. There's so
much renewed interest, a feeling of optimism in the Tiff
County community, in the tif Keunty blue verbal fan base.
It's gonna bring the fans back and that's where you start.
Get the fannies in the seats. Those kids will notice it,

(32:45):
the kids will feed off of it. Look, I saw
some Tiff County games, well again, the couch with game
last year, and I think the year before, maybe it
was two years before we did the Lee County Tiff
County too, that the crowd was horrible. It was horrible.
I mean that big old, huge home side, which by

(33:10):
the way, was overbuilt, but that's a different story which
makes it look worse than it is. But you have
that big old home side at tiff count You guys
have been in Tipp County stated and you by Bruody Field,
you know what I'm talking about. And man, it's just
it looks bad. It looks bad, but it has been

(33:34):
full before so they can do it again when and
they will come. All right, So all right, let's say here,
all right, First of all, I want to talk about
some of these games you don't want to miss this year,
and I'll give back some of your comments in a minute,
but I promise you guys that I would to go

(33:54):
over this and again. So these are ten matchups you
don't want to miss this year, and this is yet
to be published. But this is what you call sneak peak.
By teaming into the show, you get a sneak peek
on our content coming up. I turned this in late
last night about midnight. All right, So here are some

(34:15):
games you don't want to miss, and I can tell
you that it's it's it's it's loaded with early games
now I know probably what you're thinking. Well, he started
looking at the schedule and he checked this game off
and that game off, and before you know what, I
had ten games. That was part of the deal I

(34:35):
would get. But at the same time, these are games
that just they happened to be early in the season,
and you know what, these are ten games you don't
want to miss. Maybe there's more, and I probably would
have to go back and do like a part two.
I'm not going to deny that. Jim Blair says, tif
Kennedy built that stadium under them Shiver boys. You're right

(34:56):
about that, Todd Shivers, Stan Shiver, great day. I've never
seen headhunters like those boys, Todd especially no Stan free
Safety went to Florida State. There's a picture that Florida
State has. It's up on a lot of fans walls.
I've seen in tiff County fans of Florida State seminoles

(35:16):
where Stan Shivers has just laid the wood too. I
think it's a North Carolina State receiver and Stan Shiver
is standing there. He looks like a big I don't know,
you's got to see it. I believe it be was
a big more like a linebacker free safety. But he
had just leveled this receiver and he's just standing there

(35:40):
looking at him, standing over him. You've seen the post
about one of the more intimidating posts I've ever seen,
and it was it was It wasn't a pose. It
was an actual action shot right after the hit anyway.
But you're right now to get it too far up there,
all right, Kelly Mitchell says Brooks ap Pierce is a
good When I was mentioning that one of the Brits

(36:00):
the games I have mentioned as one to watch it,
it may surprise you. It may surprise you, all right.
Number one on the list is this is a gimme.
And by the way, I didn't realize this was a
Thursday night game. It's Milton at Beuford, of course, going
to open that brand new stadium. And guys, if you

(36:21):
and I know most of you probably that are watching this,
you probably have seen from one person or another the
highlights you know, the these I don't know you call
them reels of the Buford, the new stadium at Beuford.
You know that they've been doing a lot of these
at dark. They've my buddy Lowton Nelson, aka Big Beefford's

(36:43):
watching the show. Uh told me that they turned on
tested up the big jumpboat tron and said it didn't
make your chest rattle. And man, it's just so all
this build up we've been talking about the anticipation of
of the season. So you've got a double whammy here.
So you got this Milton Beauford game. Obviously, two humong

(37:08):
this programs, two programs that really should be the favorite
of Wednesday title in their respective classifications. You gotta remember
Milton's still five eight, Bufort six acts. Beauford is gonna
go for the three peat this year. So you know
Milton would have loved nothing better than to come in
to the new Buford Stadium and wipe out the party. However,

(37:33):
got to do it with no Luke Nickel, No Luke Nickel.
In fact, you got a couple of teams who will
be without long time starting quarterbacks. We'll get more of that,
but you got Milton Buffer that's gonna be on a
Thursday night. By the way, ESPN's got it, so you
got national television, you got Milton at Beauford, you got

(37:55):
all the storylines. It's not a winner take all because
it is a non classification game. But man needs listen.
You don't want to lose this game, especially if your
mill Beautiford. I'm sorry. The last thing Beautifer wants to
do is say they lost the first game in that

(38:16):
Brandy state. You don't want that. Odiahs Tg says, shaking bait.
I don't know what that means. Jim Blair nineteen eighty
three State Championship fifty nine six over the Grands. I
was there as your tip down. He ran the table,

(38:39):
I think winning the state title. Just it was a blitzkreag.
Well that was Andrew Watkins Dherty versus Monroe. Must have
watched this year, Jim Blair says, call quick versus Lee
Kenning must have watched this year. Brooks appears Jim Blair. Okay,

(39:01):
before are you called that one out? All right, let
me know if you're watching the show, let me know
for those of you that have not called me in,
and please do so. I don't want to leave anybody out.
I hate to do that. I hate to look at
the show afterwards and see where I miss somebody. I
do not like that. It's important to me that I

(39:21):
acknowledge you guys. You took your time to check out
the show and to do your part. And I'm trying
to do my part and make sure I acknowledge you guys.
So if I do overlet you guys, I do apologize.
Greg hammock To's Peach County is ready. Jason Green feel

(39:43):
no word out of the Valdosta camp. I don't see
how they win more than six games. Lounge Callwood and
Camden will beat them. You know, I'm really torn on Valdosta,
and I'll get back to our top games in a minute.
I'm the kind of guy. Look, I think Valdosta has
the athletes year in and year out to get it done.

(40:06):
I've heard the I think defensive the defensive, particular defensive
line could be a problem. You know, you don't have
quarterback man Todd Robinson. I don't think we can stress
enough how much Todd Robinson meant to the Valdosta program
last year. That was a spark plug god could change

(40:29):
the game on a dime, and you don't have that
this year. In fact, I don't even know if they
decided on quarterback. So i gotta tell you, I'm hearing
some good things about Valdosta, says something from other people.
I'm not and usually to a man, most people agree
that Valdosta is a is a contender for the for

(40:49):
the region, and I'm just not hearing that this year. Right,
we'll get back to Valdosta in some of the scenes
in a minute. I'll tell you about Lownes what I
think about them, all right, ben at a team of
callf what comes into number two? These are the ten
must see games. You do not want to miss these
games if you're a fan or you know, even if
you can catch the game somehow, you don't want to
miss it. Benedicteing at Conquck County season opener. It'll be

(41:13):
the first time these teams have played each other ever. Now,
you had Benedictine come to the Moultree. It was not
the hog Pen. Now, it was like in the thirties
or something. I don't know, But this, I mean, let's
take it. This will be the that was the Moultrie Packers.
This will be the first time that Benedictine and Calwood

(41:34):
County will have played each other. And I gotta tell you,
I can't. I can't think of many games bigger than
this one. Benedicte's got a heck of a start to
their season. I mean it's gonna be brutal. Benedictine, Colwood
County Cadet's making their first trip. I really am big
on Benedictine this year, guys, because I just don't know

(41:55):
about Concord. I don't know, I don't know what I'm
just I don't know. Man, they lost a lot now,
I'm gonna tell you they lost Ryan Fitzgerald. They lost
their entire kicking game. By that, I mean they're snapper,
long snapper, holder, kicker. That's important when you're talking about

(42:18):
a young man. Think about this. For the last four years,
oh yeah, and before that it was Ryan's brother, is
it Brett? Think about this. For the last roughly eight years,
Kalkwick County could depend when they got inside the opponent's
forty yard line, they were gonna come away with points.

(42:46):
Think about that now. So if you're starting at, you're
on twenty, you got forty yards. You gotta get forty.
Now you want to get more, I get it. But
if you get forty yards roughly, if you're starting at
you're on twenty, your guaranteed points. That's important. And that
I don't even know who called one kicker is this
year young man, whoever you are, no slight to whoever

(43:11):
you are, and whoever the kicker is. And you know,
but again you got that whole you know that's gone.
I think that's gonna be big. You got a sophomore
quarterback and Corden Lawson who's going to come back. He
was injured a little bit last year, but he'll be back,
of course, jay La Mare, you got one of the
running best running backs in the state. I get it.
But man Benedictine is low dead. Stephen Cannon back, Bubba Frasier.

(43:38):
You got the young man who came from Savannah Christian
five star look out all right, So Benedictine called with
number two on the list, Number three, Grayson at Colin Zill.
What a game that's going to be. Remember Grayson got
upset by Colin Seal. Grayson led nineteen to three for
most of that game. Collins he'll come roaring back late

(43:59):
two point converts by Dudah McCree cross mac cree cross.
Somebody helped me out with hyper down. I butchered his
name the last couple of years. Great young man, great quarterback.
He got the two point conversion for Collins Hill last year.
My Buddy, Drew squick, we going to be hosting the

(44:21):
defending state champions. What a ball game that's gonna be.
We might be there it t g next we'll let
you know. But Grayson Collins Hill to open the season.
That's number three on my match up of games to
not miss, John Man, let me know what you think

(44:43):
about these these games, guys, James Andrew says, Lowndes kicker
is a special teams is sauld who is a James
do tail? All right? Uh? Oh dot to me? I

(45:04):
see your name odious odd Audius is TG. I don't know, man,
I'm gonna play. Gg says I just saw about Austin
and ot is a couple of weeks back. Defensive line
looks solid, nasty bunch. Say that's what I'm saying. Depending
who you talk it too, man, they look really good.
Not gonna be worthy of it, all right? So who knows?

(45:26):
Luke Bush Lownes host Cauckwick County. Don't miss this one,
my man. Luke Bush is gonna rank. He's gonna ring
every Lownes game is the one not to miss. Hey,
that man is Loune Viking through and through, and I

(45:47):
love it and nobody giving more heart and soul to
that program than Luke bush Is. And I hear your brother,
super fan, you really are to be committed seeing I
mean that with all seriousness. My man, you're a good dude.
All right. All right, So I had Grayson Collins Hill
number four. These are games not to miss. These are

(46:07):
my my ten must watch games. Here's two teams I've
already mentioned, and there's my we we may be at
this one, don't know yet. Buford at Benedictine, you see,
I like to do the Benedictine Benedictine. There's Beaufort at
Benedictine Week two. Remember last year Beauford loses that opening

(46:30):
opener to Milton and then they're down to Benedictine. They're in,
they're licky, They're they're they're they're staring, oh and two
squarely in the face and low and bald. A lot
of things had to happen, and they did, and Beauford
able to come back. I believe they got a late

(46:52):
two point conversion. They win. Uh and even their record
up does ben to Beeford, and boy they went on
the roll after that Benedictine. Oh well, that was tough.
Tough loss. So Benedictine, it's gonna be over in Savannah.

(47:13):
By the way, we made our first trip to Savannah
last year. It tg next game of the week. We
went over there and covered the Benedictine Perry game. Perry
went in there and won that game. Now big, And
this is no look, I'm not dissing on Perry and
the coach, Kevin Smith. I loved the guy. I loved
that program. Uh. But Benedictine was without Stephen Cannon last

(47:34):
year and he is a big part of that program.
I tell you, I like Benedictine a lot, guys, a lot.
You got the Ladamian Guidon. That's what I was trying
to remember earlier. Five star defensive lineman. He's a difference maker.

(47:54):
When you started getting that fifth star by your name. Yeah, yeah,
you're you're talking about you. You're making a difference in
football games. Bubba Fraser four star, Stephen Cannon whatever, three
four star quarterback. He's committed to Texas State. Bubba Fraser
actually is a running back, but he let the team.

(48:16):
I'm sorry, he's a wide receiver, but he led the
team in rushing last year. That's just kind of an athlete.
Now there's your athlete, Bubba Fraser. Anyway, I've been at
a teen a lot. They're gonna be taken on Buford
hosting Buford. That's gonna be on A twenty two. That's
week two. I told you this was full of the
early games. All Right, we're halfway through here. Number five

(48:37):
must see TV, Must see high school football. Thompson at Grayson.
This is a battle of Alabama and Georgia's largest classifications
state champions Okay, now, last year Grayson won this game

(49:08):
by one point. It was an overtime win. I remember
this game. Remember Grayson had lost the week before to
Collins Hill by point twenty nineteen. Right, the next week,
Grayson has to go to Thompson, Alabama. Remember that's Mark Freeman,
the head coach of Thompson. And remember that's where the

(49:32):
young men who as an eighth grader, Trent Seaborn, Remember that.
Remember that story. Trent Seaborn came off the bench as
an eighth grader and led Thompson to a state championship. Okay,
fast forward, now a couple of years. You have Trent Seaborn.

(49:54):
Before last year, young man turned down a six figure
nil deal now the catch he had had to move
to Georgia because remember Matt so we may not know
Alabama does not allow nil at high school level. It's
a big not note h. But he decided to say,
I wanna, I want to I wanna want a championship.
The money will come. How about that for some integrity.

(50:18):
You don't think you want that young man quarterback in
your football team. Yeah, Trent Seaborn. So Trent Seborn the
quarterback at Thompson. He will be a junior, I believe. Anyway,
last year, Grayson, you know it's kind of like Buford

(50:40):
will again. Right, Grayson was staring at an o to
two start. They lost to collins Hill. Then in the
Thompson game, okay, Thompson scores fourteen. That scores the go
ahead touchdown in overtime to go at fourteen to seven.
So here's Grayson. They've got one last chance, They've got

(51:01):
a score. They do they score a touchdown fourteen thirteen.
Santavius Bryant says, we're not gonna kick that ship. Well,
let's go for two. We're going for it all man.
He pushed all his chips to the middle of the
table and they get it done two point conversion, Grayson

(51:22):
wins and they never look back en route to the
state championship. They never lost again. Yeah, isn't that great?
So those two teams will get back together this time
at Grayson. What is that logan? No, not Loagan real,
I don't know. Somebody help me out with that, all right,

(51:44):
So that's an you can't miss game, all right. Number
six Hughes Langston Hughes at Douglas County. The more and
more I see and look in here about Douglas County,
the more impressed I am. Langston Hughes, I'm still if
he but you got to give it to Hughes. They've
had such a great program, always in the mix. They

(52:04):
of course made it to the state title game last year.
They lose to Milton, but uh, there's a little they
they lost a lot, I mean they lost a lot,
but they got darniell Kelly quarterback from a transferred from
Peachtree Rich he'll be their quarterback this year. And of
course Hugh's got one of the best running backs in

(52:27):
what's his name? Don't help me out, Somebody help who's
the running back at at Hughes Courson Baker, Thank you.
I can't read my notes, but Douglas County may have
the best receiver, do you. I mean you almost have

(52:48):
to say they do. Devin Carter and Gregory you got
JaMarcus Linley, four star running back. Now, deej hears something.
DJ Bordeaux, how many of you know this? He is
a Douglas County quarterback? He leaves. It was very quiet.
DJ Bordo had been the starting quarterback, standout young man

(53:09):
and player. He was the quarterback, all everything quarterback for
Douglas County. Well, he had originally came to Atlanta from Denver, Colorado,
the suburbs of Denver. This off season, for whatever reason,
he and his family moved back. So that's got Douglas
County and Hicks Johnny White scrambling for a new quarterback.

(53:33):
So they bring in well, I said, they bring in Yeah,
they actually got the service now of Mike Johnson. That
name sounds some mailiar. He was the solid quarterback at
dutch Town who transferred in. So it'll be Johnson taking
over quarterback beauties for the departed Bordeaux. So that's gonna
be a good one. Okay, here's the game. I was
talking about. Brooks County, and I'll give you guys one

(53:55):
last chance. There's one Brooks County game that I had
as a must watch, can't miss game Burkes County. Who
do you think it is? I'll give you guys a
couple of minutes to give me some choices. Here. Who
is my can't miss game? That's one of the Brits

(54:18):
County schedule? What do you think Jose Badilla is checking in? Hey?
Better late than never, right, I'm just giving getting with you. Ose,
Thanks so much for checking out the show. But I'm
glad you're in here, very glad. Let me take just
a second to see who all is in the house.
Dave Pollard. Dave says a won the state championship as

(54:41):
an eighth grader two at Thoms So I thought I
mentioned that, Did I not? Trent c Born. That's gonna
be the next name you guys here? What integrity? Young
man had a six figure NIO deal waiting on me.
You gotta do is trans for to? Georgia said, Nope,

(55:01):
I want to say championship coach Mark Freeman is the
coach of Thompson. He's the quarterback whisperer I got there,
got a chance to talk to the coach Freeman, great man.
He's the He's the coach that built up the Oh
you guys, help me out the quarterbacks to the Alabama.

(55:26):
Who are the quarterback the Hawaiian quarterbacks Miami went on
to Miami Dolphins. Help me out, guys. I know he's
the one that built those those those family of quarterbacks
up though, Mark Freeman. That's another reason why Trent Seaborn

(55:46):
did not leave Thompson, because that's what Mark Freeman's specialty is.
I wonder how any I wonder how any fathers have
taken their sons to to Thompson High School in Alabama
and enrolled them just so they can work under Mark Freeman.

(56:11):
Who are the quarterbacks? I'm trying to think of guys
that played for Alabama. One transferred to Maryland. What what's
the name? Come on, I had the it'll come to
somebody out of their nose. Guys are holding out on
a tua thank you, Stephen Winn. Everybody everybody answers that
one time, Stephen gay Winn, Greg Maddox, those a Badia

(56:34):
thank you guys. Tua taga viola. Mark Freeman is the
guy mister Tagaviola found out about Mark Freeman came from
the West coast. I think the story goes their path
went from Hawaii to California to Thompson, Alabama. About that,

(57:01):
and that's where the two attack of Eol. That's where
two attack of Yola and his brother wound up. Because
mister tag of Eola had heard about Mark Freeman said
I want my young men, my sons to be developed
by him, and that's what he's been able to do
with Trent Seaborn. But as you can tell, Mark Freeman
is more about wins and losses, a man of fate.

(57:25):
By the way, Mark Freeman is the guy who is
a finalist. I can tell you a thing for the
Valdosta job. Believe it was when Rush was hired, I
knew Mark Freeman has been a finalist for several of
the South Georgia jobs. By the way, so sought I
would throw that out there. There you got Stephen k Win.

(57:47):
See this is why I listen when I have a question.
I got Stephen k Winn because he can always help me.
Stephen k Winn says, you're right Colorado to Thompson, Alabama.
That's right, Okay, So anyway, now we're back at it.
The game that I mentioned with Brooks County, it must
watch game is Worth County at Brooks Now. Some of

(58:09):
you may wait, yeah, work listen, guys, brook Worth County.
You got to give coach Jeff Hammond's credit what he's
been able to do there. He's got Worth count in
the MiGs. He's got lending Worthy. How about that for
play on names. I'm lending Worthy. I'm the quarterback at
Worthy County, Worth Counting, and I'm going to tell you

(58:30):
that this young man is gonna be one to watch.
I think he's just a sophomore. Looks great getting off
the bus, six foot three like two oh five. I
mean you want to talk about a ballplayer. Well, coach Hammonds, now,

(58:50):
I think they're gonna have a really good year this year.
He's gonna take the Rams into equipment to take on
Josh mcfather and Brooks. By the way, in quiet minds
want to know what's going on in Brooks. So you
had Junior Boroughs. He's the quarterback led him to a
state championship game last year. They didn't win it, they
lose to the powerful Bowden Red Devils. But you've got

(59:16):
Junior Boroughs quarterback in Brooks This all season you had
Bryce Pucket transferred into Brooks from kra Now a lot
of people were thinking, Oh, what's going to happen to
Junior Burroughs? And I think at first everything was pretty cool. Well,

(59:46):
I am hearing rumblings. I could part talk to coach
Josh Mayfather. He would tell me he's a great duties
he and our friends, but that'd be too easy. So
what are you guys here in your Brooks kind of
goes what are you hearing about Junior Burroughs? Is he
going to be the quarterback? I'm hearing rumors that Brooks

(01:00:08):
County's coaching staff is looking at moving Junior Burroughs to
wide receiver and putting Bryce Pucket in at quarterback. Any
truth of that, Look got to be honest with you.

(01:00:28):
If it works, it works, Yeah. Uh, I don't know,
but that's what I'm hearing. You know, you had a
similar situation, by the way, at Camden you had the
young man at Camden, Parks Rendell, who was the starter

(01:00:51):
for the last two year, three years. I believe it
was Parks Rendell, Parks Rendeaux. He led Camden to all
these great years, these past couple of years. Well, this
off season he got bumped. I believe the wide receiver
defensive backs to make way for I think it's Will Alexander.

(01:01:15):
I may be wrong for some reason. Anyway, it's the
quarterback transferred in from Florida. So I think overall that
might make Camden better because apparently from while, I've been
talking to Park's dad, and look, Parks is good with

(01:01:35):
the move. The move may make Camden better. I don't know.
I just but I'm hearing that same scenario is playing
out at at Over at Brooks. Any truth to it?
Inquiring minds want to know. Let me if there's anything
to that. If you've got Bryce Puckett that's gonna take

(01:01:56):
over a quarter right and gonna move Junior Burris to
O receive, can you imagine having Junior Burus the athlete
that he is, and I'm just gonna say, having George
Lemonta on the other side. I gotta tell you something
I saw. I saw Junior Burus last year. I think

(01:02:19):
we did two of their games. We did Brooks County Fitzgerald.
These were the it Gens games of the week. Last year.
We did that Bruce Kenny Cook game early and then
we did Brooks County Fitzgerald later Junior Burus has got
one of the best arms I've ever seen. Strong arm

(01:02:42):
now he was very impressive at quarterback and look statspeak Forronzell.
He let Li Brooce County to a stay titled game
last year, didn't win it. But so I don't know
if it's anything to it. What are you guys hearing
about that? Any truth to the rumor at Brooks County
of junior birds being moved to wide receiver to make

(01:03:06):
room for Bryce Puckett, who came in from kro All right,
here's Jose Badilla with a little random comment. Jose, what's up? Brother? Jose?
Random here? But I Gus smells zong. The other day
he was in downtown Thomasville. You know me. I questioned
him and told him, don't be getting pretty with his

(01:03:27):
flake call this year at FSU. I assure you did, Buddy,
I got you. That's pretty funny, though, Justin King says,
I think that will work out better. So Justin I
mean truth of that though, talking about that that rumor
there at Brooks what's the deal? Inquiring minds one or not?

(01:03:48):
And we want to know the truth. Kelly Mitchell, where
are you at on this? All right? Anyway Worth County,
Brice County. I think this is one of the ten
must see games. All right, let's move on. By the way,
that Brooks County Thomasville game to open the season could

(01:04:08):
have easily made my list. Well, that's one to watch.
Thomasville is going to be loaded for bear. Can't wait
to watch that Brooks or that the work that Thomasville
Thomas County Central game. You know we have been we
have done that game, I think the last two or
three years. It's been part of our itg next Georgia
Game of the Week package. Might do ity end this year.

(01:04:35):
But I'm gonna tell you, whereas the last couple of
games have been decided Lee Thomas County Central's favor, this
might be more of a competitive game this year. You
gotta remember now, Thomasville is a Class eighteen. Thomas County
Central is a Class five eighteen, probably could be a

(01:04:55):
six eighteen. But I'm just saying you got to keep
that in mind. We're talking about, yes, Acrosstown rival, but
you know, one school is way bigger than the other.
Just gonna remember that, guys, stick to you to focus Claudia.
Noelmaine is checking out the show. What's up Claudia? All right?

(01:05:19):
Matthew Park is asking one of the moves so late,
from Caroa to Brooks that was a fam a bona
fide family move. I remember Bryce Bucket's dad had posted
on Facebook when that first half and he said, guys,
I'm gonna you know, there's so much crap being thrown
right out here. He explained that they have a daughter.
I guess that would be Bryce Bucket's sister who is

(01:05:40):
going to Valdosta University, and instead of having her drive
I guess back and forth, or the fact I think
you may have lived on campus. I don't know. I
think the family that wanted to make that whole move
easier closer wanted her to be closer. So instead of
her being the family being in Caro and her being
in Valdosta State decided to shorten it up a little bit. Saw.

(01:06:02):
I don't think there was any shenanigans there. I just
think it was a Yeah, it was truly a bona
fide family move for all the right reasons. Okay, games
to watch, must watch games, Carrollton at Gaines vaut that's
one to watch this year. Guys, can you think about

(01:06:25):
this now we were talking about pressure earlier. You think
there's any more pressure on Joey King and the situation
involving Camori Farmer notwithstanding it just just toss out out

(01:06:46):
a second either. I know it's get ignored, but Joey
King is making a lot of money, a lot. He's
the high speed coaching Georgia. It's not even closed. I
mean he's upwards two twenty four or something like that,
two to twenty four thousand a year, big big box.
Hey look, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it. That's
not my point. But you know, I was in the

(01:07:10):
newspaper business for nineteen years. I was in senior management
up in Forsyth County, and I was saying, the higher
you go, the thinner the year it gets, meaning the
more your responsibilities are, the more you make, the tougher

(01:07:31):
it is to breathe. Man, it just it gets tight.
So I yeah, look, people may say, well, it's not
a problem with like joy Can he's a great coach
and a good jump, but man, that whole Carrollton deal,
even when Sean Calhoun was there. I guys know how
I feel about Shaun Cahune, great man, great coach, but
that state title has been very elusive for Carrollton. And

(01:07:56):
now yet yeah you have Joy King brought in there,
and it's yeah, look, I like Sean Calhoun. I think
he got a little bit of a raw deal when
they let him go from Calhoun. I'm sorry from Carrollton,
you know, because the knock on him was game winning
state championship. Well you got Joey King, who is making

(01:08:19):
big box. Yeah, they're paying him a mint and really
has not had any better look than Sean Calhoun. Now
he's had success. I think he's led him to two
championship games. Sean Calhoun had led Carrollton to five straight
quarterfinals at least got her as far as the quarterfinal.

(01:08:40):
So here's a situation where you got two really good coaches.
They've both done a good job, but that state title
game flare has been loosen. Now. I say that because
you got Carrollton in Gainesville. It's one of my must
watch games this year. That's going to be in Gainsville.
And I don't think the pressure is on Niblett coach
Josh Niblett, but I will say that combined there's two

(01:09:03):
coaches there that. Yeah, they're both well compensated. There's a
lot of expectations. You got to remember before Nibley came
to Gainsville, they had kind of, you know, had kind
of been a wayward team. I mean, they were okay,
but they were nothing like you know where they are now.

(01:09:27):
You got to go back to Oh gosh, it was
the stand out the quarterback there. I tell that good
with names today, I'm never good with names. What am
I talking about? The quarterback who was there in uh
In in Gainesville? Yeah, went on to play for the

(01:09:47):
Cleveland Browns. Anyway, when he was there, I think that
was the last time they want to stay championship. But
gains Will has kind of been down and then Nibley
came in and man has just completely revitalized that. They've
got one of the most beautiful stadiums now. But remember

(01:10:09):
Games one when he nimble was there. The first year
he led to a state championship game, but they felled
the little bit short. That was twenty two. So Carrollton
at games Will, you got two coaches here where you're
gonna talk about pressure. I think there's some pressure in
these with these guys. For sure. All right, by the way,
that's gonna be on September the twelfth, North of Coney

(01:10:33):
at Jefferson. I was kind of shock this game wasn't
even more closer than it was last year. North guys.
North of Coney is just absolutely loaded. They didn't they
didn't lose anybody from their fifty to their team last year.
I mean, if there's a if there is a sure thing,
it's gonna be North dat Cooney. I think. Now let
me say this, I want you guys to hear me

(01:10:54):
on this. Okay, by the way, we'll go to probably
around seven o'clock tonight. So Deshaun Watson, thank you, Greg
Maddox and Stephen K. Winn. I'm always count on you guys.
The baill be out so North of Coney at Jefferson. Now,

(01:11:14):
I put this game in there because it is a
great rivalry game. That is, you know, it's going a
lot off the names of the schools, the programs, but
I will say this, last year, I think North of
Coney beat them like thirty five to nothing or something.
It was bad. I wouldn't be surprised. And if I

(01:11:37):
had one game to take out, it might be this one.
I did not rank Jefferson in the top ten, and
I caught some slack for it. But you know what,
these these teams, certain teams, these programs have their year

(01:12:00):
of rebuilding, sort of their sort of that. I don't
reset year, That's what I'm trying to say, reset that,
and I think it's gonna be that year for Jefferson.
I really now. They may prove me wrong. I think
they got a pretty fairly easy schedule, so they will

(01:12:21):
win a lot of games. But I just don't know
they had. They lost so many players Jefferson. Did You've
got Sam Brown who is known? That's right, that's the
name Max Brown. Sorry, Sammie Brown's brother. Great player, But
I just am not sold on this year's Jefferson team.
Could be wrong, all right. Lee County at Thomas County Central.

(01:12:47):
That's number ten of ten games not to miss this year.
Lee County at Thomas County Central. Guys, that thing last
year had so much build up anticipation. Remember that the
game they had to move to Saturday afternoon. It was
a matinee affair, hot hot Saturday midday game, Lee County

(01:13:11):
hosting Thomas County Central. That was the game if I'm
not mistaken. Let me look at my news. That was
the game that Lee County snapped Thomas County central twenty
five game winning streak. Think about that, Thomaskinty Center had

(01:13:33):
not lost in twenty five games until that day. So
Lee County snapped Thomas County Central's twenty five game winning
streak and they went on to win that game thirty
five twenty three. Remember that game was delayed by a
hurricane and eleenk, I mean, man that and I was

(01:13:54):
not there, but I saw the highwaights, I saw all
the the pow in circumstances it went with that game unbelievable.
So having said that, you don't think Thomas got any
Central Justin Rodgers and the staff, the players, you don't

(01:14:15):
think they've got that game circled is one to watch themselves. Yeah,
if Justin Rodgers and Tomkinson don't won any game, it's
Fountain famished. So that is uh the ten must see

(01:14:40):
games all right now. I also came up with a
and you guys can see all this coming up on
our uh in our newsletter. Mer with me here. I

(01:15:04):
came up with playoff matchups. So I took a look
at the playoff matchups. If I can find it here,
I'll find it in a minute. So I went and

(01:15:24):
looked at the bracts. Remember the brackets came out last week,
and I know it was something we always looked forward to.
And I looked at the brackets and I, you know,
you can pretty much kind of tell okay, so this
region is playing this region. You know, one versus four.
You guys know the drill, you can pretty much figure
out who's gonna be playing who. Well, I kind of
got fancy with it, and I went through and I

(01:15:46):
plucked out Okay, so if these two teams win in
advance of the second round, they'll play each other, and
then you know those are gonna be some some pretty
good games. But then I take it a step further
and I went on out to the quarterfinals, I think
the semi finals, and there's some pretty good games. Uh.
As far as the playoff matchups, potential, big big word there.

(01:16:11):
I want to put it in potential playoff matchups, and
I'm gouldn't tell you, well, I look for it one
of the matchups, and lounges fans, you know, I don't
know how you feel about this, but there is a
very good chance, Lowndes that you could be looking at

(01:16:35):
another trip to Beauford. And you know what, Hey, if
you want to prove yourself, if you want to prove
that you're the team, who is it? The l G says,
if you want to be the man, you got to
beat the man. I think OLG says that. But this

(01:16:57):
is one of those deals, guys. This this is where
you know, at some point and we've talked about the
you know, when's the you know, when's the well, who's
the best chance for Lounges or a South Georgia team
beating a North Georgia team. Yeah, when's that? When? Who's
gonna give us? Us? Being people that live in South

(01:17:18):
Georgia fans of Southern Georgia teams, who's gonna you know
what's gonna give us? Who is gonna give us the
best chance to win a state championship? So my point being, look,
if you want to be considered one of the top
teams in the state, not just your region, you need
to come up and beat one of these games and
one of these teams. And this is it. This is it.

(01:17:44):
So again, you've got these playoff matchups. By the way,
while I'm scrolling here. I will tell you a couple
of other things that to be looking for. So I
came out with our Part two Top ten Stadiums. Now,

(01:18:09):
remember it's part two. We released as last week, I
mean Flint put it out on Instagram and people just
had a a fit. They didn't look at the fine print.
Oh that's part two. So we people that I guess
didn't see the first list saw this list and thought,
what are you doing? You left off my team. Well again,

(01:18:32):
it's part two. So chances are if you saw you
did not see your team on the Part two of
the Top ten Stadiums, you will see them. Go back
and look at part one. And it had been a
long time, you know that we did. I did that
first list of top ten stadiums back in February. So
there's a lot of these these top tens that we

(01:18:53):
put in the pipeline. You know, we're doing top tens
of everything, everything you can think of. I did the
top ten Tailgate foods by the way, gotta love that,
you guys can that'll be coming up. I think you aren't.
Check it out on Instagram, the top Tailgate Foods. You
may be surprised what was number one. And by the way,

(01:19:16):
I want to thank uh. The folks are Lowns, Ronnie Saals,
Jimmy Lindsay, Owen Prince. Those are some of the tailgate extraordinaries.
Earl Brooks, Luke Nelson, and Kenny Purlott up at Beuford
helped me out. These are the folks who do a

(01:19:37):
lot of tailgating. Gosh, I hope I'm not leaving. Oh,
of course my guys at at Coffee County Ronnie John,
Stephen Tate. But they got a lot of help on that,
and I do appreciate everybody's help. All Right, I'm trying
to find the playoff matchups. Here we go here, we

(01:19:58):
got all right, guys, when we'll probably close with this maybe,
I don't know, we'll see how it goes, all right.
So looking at the brackets, I came up with how
I thought that the playoffs may look I when you look
at like Region I think it was the one versus eight,

(01:20:20):
all right. So I took like Region one six A
and eight six A. They're gonna play each other, okay,
and you kind of get an idea of who the
number one team is. Yeah, Matthew Park, Phil come to
middle Georgia. We'll take care of you on the tail.
Gadding brother, consider it done. I'm there man. By the way,

(01:20:44):
Jim Blair tells his new Budgies and Brunswick. Yeah, we
went over to do the Benedictine Perry game last year.
We passed it on ninety five and they were never
get pretty far along there. So congratulations the Brunswick getting
there their own BUCkies. Alan Lott says, go Vikings, what's up,

(01:21:05):
my man. Dave Pollard says Bowden versus Brooks in the
semi finals as a possibility. Yeah, true, All right, here
we go. So I went through the brackets. I spent
like I don't know, there's a long time time, like
the one day last week, and here we go. These
are some potential playoff matchup to guys, okay now in

(01:21:30):
class six eight. One of the more notable first round
playoff matchups is Valdosta and mill Creek. If Valdosta finishes
as the number two seed, Yeah, guys, and a lot off, okay,
just having fun with it. They don't anybody get carried away.
If Valdosta finishes the number two seed and mill Creek

(01:21:53):
finishes as the three seed, they could meet at Baysmore
Hyder's Stadium in one of the top heavyweight battles of
the first round. I don't know that those two teams
have ever played each other, had they That's what I
love about the playoffs. That's what I love about some
of these matchups, some of these big time names. I mean,

(01:22:16):
come on, Valdosta and mill Creek and you're talking about
the best of the old versus the best of the new.
Got the historical Valdosta program taking on the fairly new
Mill Creek program. But that's a one. Uh, that's one
particular first round playoff matchup in six seven. Here's another one, Lowndes.

(01:22:36):
I mentioned this earlier, Lownes at Buford. So the Vikings
have been waiting a four year to get another chance
at Beuford. If Lowns fights their way into the playoffs
out of the wide open Region one, which they should,
they could be looking at a trip back to Gloryland

(01:23:02):
with Jase Johnson and the funning gun offense. I'm gonna
call it, and I'll tell you the Lowndes offense gonna
shoot put up a lot of points this year. And
then of course you got Dayton and Riolo coming back
for for Beeford to quarterback the Wolves. By the way,
no offense, but I am Beauford. Sent me this, sent

(01:23:24):
me the old Beauford swag. They got the Nike logo
and everything. I love it. My man, Tony Wolf from Beuford,
longtime athletic directnor sent me this in a green long
sleeve pullover. Appreciate you, Tony Wolf, the Beufford Wolves. I
never have really thought about that. Tony Wolf Wolves all right.

(01:23:45):
Round two another potential playoffs wearing six A. You could
have check this out. We've been talking about Collins Hill Grayson.
There's a possibility we may be there for that game.
Still working on our i E. Next Georgia Game of
the Week schedule, so nothing's confirmed. That don't may get crazy. However,

(01:24:06):
one of the games we're looking at season open between
Colin Seal Grayson. We talked about it last year, Grayson
upset at the hands of Colin Ziell. Colin Seal Well,
they had a great season last year. Grayson would get
the payback in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Last year

(01:24:27):
got on their way to a state championship game or
state championship. So this year they're gonna play again in
the season opener. It's gonna be at Grayson. Now, there
is a good chance that these two teams could meet
once again come playoff time in round two and in

(01:24:51):
this one. Basically, if things go like they could, like
they should like I think they will. I think we're
gonna see Colin, Seel Grayson facing each other once again
in the playoffs. This is Grace now, this is Collins
Jill's chance to get again. See, this is what I'm
talking about. These are your opportunities. Just like Lowndes Beifford.
I think they got a really solid chance Lowndes does
going back to Beauford. Hey, go there and win the game. Man,

(01:25:15):
win the game. Just just get it done. You know,
longdes fans don't need to be you know, hanging their heads.
Oh my gosh, we're looking at the Bractets. We got
gotta go to Beauford again. You know what, No, you
should be saying. I've been looking at the practice and
we're going to Bedford again. Be thankful for it, be

(01:25:36):
grad glad for it. That's where you gotta look at it.
Jim Blair says out, George, you gotta be at Georg
Georgian all run, Yeah, true, very true. All right, we're
talking about these potential playoff matchups. Boy, you don't think
there's gonna be some talent by the way at Collins
Hill Grayson good great, okay, And check this out, guys.

(01:25:58):
Class five A second round potential matchup. I've got Lee
County going to Rome. According to Dean Fabrezia, the two
teams have never played each other. How about that Lee
County at Rome? So Lee County in Rome is if

(01:26:23):
they finishes either the one of the two seed in
their respective regions and then if they win their first
round matchups, which they should, right, the two state powerhouses
from Leesburg and Rome, Lee County Rome could be facing
each other. Very good possibility, guys, that Lee County and

(01:26:46):
Rome gonna be taking gonna be facing each other in
the second round of the Class five A playoffs at
Barren Stadium in Rome. Can you imagine that? And by
the way, if you're John Reid and Rome, yeah, you've
had the you've had the You've had to take on

(01:27:09):
Class or South Georgia's teams Thomas County Central two years
in a row in the playoffs, so you've had to
face the positive bit of the reality of Thomas County
Central coming to Barron Stadium for two years in a
row and the results were the same. And now John

(01:27:31):
Ray's got to be saying, what have I got to
do here? Now for a third year in a row.
You're looking at you know, Lee County. Now another team
out of the region gotta be making their way to
Barron Stadium in Rome to take on the rong was God,
I got to tell you that is a game to watch,

(01:27:52):
isn't it? All right? A potential second round game in
Class five. Ever, we're going to stay in Class five.
A potential second round playoff game could pit Coffee against Hughes. Wow,
how about that? Okay, remember those two teams met in

(01:28:15):
the semi finals last year. Hughes won the game, advanced
to the state championship against Milton. Their rematch, Coffee and
Hughes could come a little earlier this year. If all
the planets and stars line up, here's a good one

(01:28:35):
for you. Again, we're gonna stay in Class five A.
And guys, by the way, these are very very real possibilities.
This is not some stretch. God, this is looking at
the brackets and if the you know the higher seeded teams.
The teams that should win do win. This is kind
of where I'm getting these from. So I just want

(01:28:56):
you to know that this is not Pine and Sky stuff.
All right, how I gain at Brunswick potential second round
Class five A playoff game? All right? Class four A
where County at North o'cony could happen in the first round.

(01:29:26):
Let's say where a county goes on the road as
the number four seed from reagion four A one four A,
they would be taken off or are taken on rather
the defending state champion North Acony Titans, who would be
the number one seed in their particular region. Wow, can

(01:29:46):
you imagine that? Where County solid team buying for a
state title. It seems like every year having to travel
up to North Acony in one of the more attractive
first round matchups. Second round matchup Cambridge at Central of Carrollton.

(01:30:10):
Here's the problem with Central of Carrollton. You're in the
shadow of the Carrollton Trojans. And look Central Carrollton has
got I think I rated him the top running back.
Of course, I'm talking about Jonas Walton. He's the Notre
Dame commit. Then you got JR. Harris. I've been high

(01:30:33):
on JR. Harris forever. Heck of a duo there in
that offensive backfield for Central Carleton. Again, they're kind of
lost in the shadow of big brother's school, Carrollton, but
they can hold their own. This will be a good
one Cambridge. By the way, Tyler Jones the head coach
there Kay which is one of those teams I've got.
They're one of my five dark horse teams to watch

(01:30:55):
this year. Nobody gives them respect. By the way, they're
in Milton. How would you like that? I have to
play in Milton with there right there with with the
Milton Eagles. But coach Jones has done his thing as
the head coach there at Cambridge. The Cambridge Bears very
successful program all around, one of the best will rounded

(01:31:17):
athletic departments in the state. By the way, that Cambridge
wide receiver duo we talked about Aaron Gregory and the
the other young man to the duo down at Douglas
County is Theren Harris. Then you've got at Cambridge and

(01:31:45):
you don't hear much about these guys, but you've got
Craig Dandridge. He's the UGA commit in Hudson cocker Rea.
He's the other wide receiver for Cambridge. Both these guys,
I mean, their receiving yards is unbelievable combined. They're both

(01:32:08):
gonna be playing Division one next year. So look out
for that one Cambridge at Central Carroll. I know it's
like one of those games. Who well, do your homework,
you know your high school football. All those are two
really solid teams. Check this out. The potential semifinal matchup
in four a very possible. You could see Benedictine and

(01:32:32):
North o'k cooney going at it. Are you kidding me?
How about that North of Cony looking to defend their
state title. Benedictine, who's won like six state championships in
the last decade, had one of those in twenty twenty two.

(01:32:54):
Danny Britt has done a phenomenal job over at Savannah
man Benedictine, North dak Coonty. By the way, that there's
not a guaranteed game, but you want to talk about
one not in the mess? All right? Class A Division
two third potential third round matchup, quarterfinal Irwin at Manchester.

(01:33:19):
And here's another one. Check this out and we'll leave
on this one. We'll end with a bang Brooks County
and Bowden in the semifinals. That's a very real possibility.
Brooks County foued of course, a rematch of the state championship,
but if it happens this year, it'll come in the semifinals.

(01:33:41):
All right, guys. I want to thank everybody for being
with me today. And man, we went an hour and
a half strong soldiered through it. You got stayed with
me today. I really appreciate it so much to talk
about high school football. Park tells me we got a
Bucky's too. Brother Jose Media says, come on, fil you

(01:34:07):
gotta stop my signuss are things when just thinking football?
All right, guys, I will let everybody off the hook.
My man, Flynn, I know it's probably like were doing.
We're gonna put an end too it there. I want
to thank everybody for checking out the show today. I
want to thank doctor Kevin Collins, one of our sponsors,

Cola Valdosta sponsors of the show. Want to thank everybody
