No, no stunt man or stunt woman neater for Reesa.
I'll tell you she don't just jump out of that plane. Hello, Riza,
thanks for coming on Radio Boomers Live. I think you're
very familiar with the show. And like I said, no
stunt woman needed for your parts. You'll just jump out
of that plane parachute or not and you'll be fine.

Speaker 9 (08:45):
Well.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I just seeing you every are talking to you at
least every week, and I listen to you and you
sound just wonderful as always. And what can we say
about Eric?

Speaker 8 (09:01):
Eric is Eric. He is the of the century.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
He's everywhere and he's just starting in La so much
and I'm glad you're coming back to l A and
and Hollywood, but other part of the county, the other
part of I want to say Los Angeles, but it's

(09:28):
really a little bit too far to be Los Angeles.
But I get to come out there every once in
a while and see you. And what can I say
about better vision for children? Jim, you're doing it, my brother.
You're raising improving visuits. They're pulling you on the red
coat because you're a plan, You're.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
The what and that's something that's that's exciting now. And
you know, you get to share what you're what you're
all about and uh and bring it, bring attention awareness
to I mean, that's that's a good thing. And you
know read the time goes by so fast. I mean
we're I said, how many years we've been doing this?

(10:10):
She's a few years and you said about eight or so?
Where do they go?

Speaker 10 (10:15):
Like?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
It opened up a whole new world to me.

Speaker 6 (10:19):
I am currently on.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
The retirement was not its retirement house. It's on TikTok,
it's on I G And we basically we do things
that are lots of fun. We we keep up with
the dance trends and with the songs. Some of the
songs I can't sing all the words too, but I

(10:46):
can come through the fall. And we just we also
are doing the job of connecting the baby boomers to
the gen Z and even all the generation to gen
Z before gen Z in the middle of gen Z,
we're connecting them to because we used to call it

(11:09):
the what do we call the generation gap? Well, we
they said, with the generation gap because we couldn't get
ourselves together. Well, that gap is kind of widened since
people know how to use the internet and adults don't understand.

(11:30):
Everybody is is having a great time communicating with one.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
Another on the Internet, and.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Now people are saying, well, how do.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
I do it? How do I do it?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yeah, you tune in to Retirement House and we'll give
you a few lessons every once in a while, Like, Jimmy.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
Know what riz is?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
You got rizz?

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Okay, so I got to get caught up on that
my updated dictionary.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Really, you've got charisma.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
That's charisma, Okay, that's cool. You got ruse.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
So we kind of throw a few slang words around
that we learned and and it's funny because the young
guys who actually do our photographs and are taping and stuff.
They're in the twenty seventh or in their twenties. I
call them the twenty seven because all of them have

(12:31):
either just been twenty seven, they're going to be twenty seven,
or there are twenty seven our entire crew, it seems like.
And we say things like, you know who Frank Sinatra was?

Speaker 8 (12:43):
Do you know? They don't know who Frank Sinatra is?

Speaker 7 (12:46):
We believe.

Speaker 6 (12:48):
Oh geez, you almost fall over. I was doing that
last night. I said, Okay, how about and when I
mentioned finally John Wayne, they go, yeah, yeah, I heard him,
or John and Elvis people. But you know, there's so
many that it's like for us there were the big
stars and they just don't know. But on the other hand, Wraith,

(13:09):
do we know the celebrities maybe thirty years before our time?
A lot of those things we don't know. And that's
what it is. It's a thirty forty year gap, you know, yeah.

Speaker 8 (13:20):
Forty year gaply smokes, where did that come from?

Speaker 2 (13:26):
So long?

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Lisa, Lisa dad, I want I want to read. I
want to read a little article here from buzz BuzzFeed
BuzzFeed News, which is pretty pretty big on the Retirement
House on Rita and then reason my question to you
is what is your most memorable moment on Retirement House
and why so in the backyard of West Hollywood mansions

(13:48):
that Zillo says is worth four point five million, there's
a separate grenarian. I can't even read that word with
a side part of the thick mustache standing on the
plastic table on a small frame is the kind of
vibrant windbreaker that would be highly coveted by a three
story and any of his legion and online admirers. Do

(14:13):
you want to go viral or not? A suit wearing
eight year old yell yells from a blow. He's an actor.
And so basically they start talking about a lot of
the people in Retirement House. It's a long article and
you guys should look up this this article. Look up
Retirement House on Google. You'll probably see see BuzzFeed, but
that the title is Retirement House is on a mission

(14:35):
to change people's ideas of aging through TikTok.

Speaker 8 (14:42):
To you, I have that I'm.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
We are filming in a mansion in Beverly Hills. It's
a beautiful mansion. We have like five bedrooms there. We've
got a theater room, and it's where we do our
filming because most tiktoks and things I'm in that are
films in somebody's house, So we filmed in the in

(15:11):
our mansion. People say, do you guys really live there?

Speaker 8 (15:15):
No, we kind of don't, but.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
We do hang out there. We do our tiktoks there.
We have lots of fun. We're like a family, and
like families, we fight amongst ourselves, but we have a
united front to change the world so that people don't
look at old people as old. We've been on trips

(15:39):
Vegas to New York.

Speaker 8 (15:42):
We've met people that we never thought we would meet.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
We've done things we thought we would never do. I
jumped off of one hundred and eight story buildings in
Las Vegas. It was a shock.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Wow, Well you mean you mean bun bungee jump?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Right?

Speaker 4 (15:58):
You didn't go and fly?

Speaker 8 (16:01):
There werecords, but they weren't, but we didn't.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I don't think my body could handle the bounce so
close to the ground. They do slow us down, but
you walk out on air and it's just it's amazing.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Geez, was such a such a blast. You're making money,
you're having fun, and it sounds like everybody's dream would
be to have a career doing And I mean, I
don't think I ever see you without a smile on
your face.

Speaker 6 (16:33):
Do you remember the paint Paul? Do you remember the paintball?
I still have a picture of you. You were paintballing
all over and you were sitting at a table with
your head down, resting after a long session of shooting
each other.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
That was the piece Fun Game Is by Adrian Paul.
I actually hosted that and played in the games. I think, Ritha.
Were we on the same team or were you opposite around?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
I saw one person get hit by a paintball, and
I said, I'm out.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Well, you know I was willing to do you guys
had the padding on for the paintball, and the cameraman
didn't have any padding. That was me at the time,
and boy, they were told don't shoot at the cameraman
and they ignored that.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
I took several hipside of the camera. I had a
green camera when.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
I got back.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Exactly what.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Grief you'repos This is supposed to be retirement house and
you're by far retired. I mean, isn't that a funny scenario?

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Right?

Speaker 8 (17:33):
It really is.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
There's six of us that aren't in the cast, and
we're all having the time of our lives. We shoot
all kinds of crazy situations that we get into. We've
got our Halloween things that are going to be posted soon,
and we've got some really funny stuff coming up with that.

(17:55):
We have a great time. I never thought I would
get paid have such a great time.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
Yeah, And then back to my questions. We actually one
of the fans asked, what is your most memorable experience
on retirement House RETA and why?

Speaker 2 (18:15):
I think, well, there's several memorable experiences.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Give us three on your head.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
We went to a concert in Las Vegas and it
was like three o'clock in.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
The morning, and there were like two.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Thousands to three thousand kids in this room in this
math hotel in Las Vegas, and we were just jumping
up and down and having the greatest time after this concert.
I had been the concerts before, but not close up

(18:53):
in personal, and it was just that was awesome just
being around all these young kids and they were all
looking at us like what are you guys doing? But
we had a wonderful time doing it. One of my
favorite tiktoks that we shot with me and the lady

(19:16):
that plays Mabel.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
We went.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
We started off giving each other the fingers, and I
was trying to paint her and she wouldn't stay still.

Speaker 8 (19:27):
She'd keep giving me the finger, and we chased each.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Other around the house, ran outside the house, and all
of a sudden the policeman was there and he had
it sitting down on the curve with our hands behind
that ba and I gave her the.

Speaker 8 (19:45):
Finger with my foot.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
Laughers the bust Medison. It's so native now with these
elections and with all the news and all the weather
stuff going on, more laughters needed and this stuff is
really hilarious. And you know there's no retirement, right race.
I mean, you just keep going.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Yeah, you know, if you I did a movie with
Betty Davis years ago. She was doing this terrible part
in this terrible movie and she would hang out with
the upstas and so one of them asked her, Miss Davis,
why are you doing this? Why are you You know,
making a movie is hard work, and she was quite

(20:30):
old at the time, and she said, you work or
you die.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
Yeah, it's at the heart.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Either you're gonna keep working and stay active, or are
you gonna die, so.

Speaker 8 (20:43):
Do what you can have a way you can.

Speaker 11 (20:46):
And yeah, the last thing I.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Was gonna say for the thing that was my most
I guess favorite and fun thing is just the camaraderie
of the cat cast and the fun that we have
together showing younger people you don't have to grow old
and be stiff and.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
Laying in bed and.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
No way.

Speaker 6 (21:15):
You can shuffling around.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
And don't think that we're just super human. We're not.
We have our aches in our pain since we got
our COVID chats, and you know, we keep ourselves healthy.
But that's what you have to do. You have to
enjoy life because it's going.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
To be over so much sooner than you think. Don't
go fast and you may not stay with the job
that you had. Maybe you're not ready to handle that,
but you there's a hundred other things you can get
busy with and what you're doing. How much better can
it be when you're doing something you love exactly?

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Yeah, I mean, you're so famous that even the dogs
love you, even the animals.

Speaker 8 (22:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
I think he wants to be interviewed.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
Actually, we love we'd.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Love to have all all of the REASA family with
the great family, even even the even the anamals. What
type of dog do you have?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
It's not my dog, it's a it's a house sitting
a dog.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
Oh, gotcha the dog.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
And it's to spoil this little brat to.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
Do so Betty Betty White's Off the Rockers, same question,
because we have another fan asked that question. What's your
favorite moment that you can that you can recall, uh
as far as episodes or behind the scenes or any
favorite moments that you can recall with Betty White's on

(22:47):
that show.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
My absolute famous, favorite thing that happened on the show
with we were shooting. It was my first day shooting
with just me and Betty in a stinging and they
started pouring smoke into the room because they do that
for the atmosphere for Hollywood.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
I'm ergic to the smoke.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Sought, my eye sighted running, my throat was closing up,
I was coughing, and I thought, this woman.

Speaker 8 (23:16):
She was ninety years old.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
It's like she's gonna have me thrown on a here
And I didn't stop it. And then she turned to
me and she said, are you okay?

Speaker 9 (23:27):
Here?

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Is there something I could do? Can I get you
some tea or something. I thought Benny White is asking
to see get me. It was my favorite moment of
the whole show, and my favorite cranch of the show
was we were dressed in nuns costumes and this guy
comes running by with no shirt.

Speaker 6 (23:49):
On, and I say, put your shirt on.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Nobody wants to see that. And he stops, turns around
and starts cussing me in this other nun out and
we finally told you it's a prank. It's a prank show.
Peter's caama did anything anything, You're not going to put
that on television And he said, yeah, he said, I

(24:13):
know what my mother seeing me christen out mum. And
he refused to sign the slip, unfortunately, but we had
the fun of just lapping, oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
Your mother okay. And you remember Canada Camera when that
first came out with the pranks, and they're so clever
the way you put these things together, and so and
and we have.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
About another uh, you know, six minutes or so in
talking about I want Tom sure everybody put with the
with the story. Do you remember how we met, how
you got involved with the Easy Way? Because I always
give the real, real story, and I always give credit
to where credit is due. Uh, I'll give you a hint.
It was a gentleman and introduced us to Oh no.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
I I I he changed his name and I can't
think of his name, but I know he is.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
His name is Flash now Flash And yeah, he was
a NASCAR driver and did a bunch of different things
and he introduced us to shut ups to Flash. We
appreciate you. So, so how about this rita, what's your
most memorable moments the easy Way which event? Because you've
gotten to like one hundred with us, that's that's a
tough one, right.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Oh, that that is a tough one.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
We've been on a lot of stages, that one with
my current latest birthday, and uh wow, there's just a lot.
I got so many tapes of us. And there's one
I think we're doing little dance on the stage. I
forgot which one that was.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
We danced on the stage, and yeah, I think I
think my favorite times has.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
Been on the on the Beunway.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
But I didn't get I wasn't I think I would.
What did you call you, ladies?

Speaker 8 (26:04):
Easy angels?

Speaker 6 (26:05):
Easy Way angels?

Speaker 2 (26:08):
I was a grandma easy Way Angel interviewing people on
the carpet yeah, really, And I got a lot of
times with you and met lots of famous people.

Speaker 9 (26:22):
So E J.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Jackson's Turkey Giveaway your host and you interviewed I believe
it was Mikaela from Kate La and the mayor or
one of the political political figures we were we were
we were feeding over ten thousand homeless families. I think
that's my favorite most memorable moment with you, when you

(26:46):
had the our microphone. You were hosted for us and
I don't know how many times you've hosted for us,
and then the American Cancer Society when we honored Kate Linder.
The third, my third favorite moment would be you hosting
the first first ever which is now a pretty big deal,
I must say, the first ever Easy Way Awards Golden Gala. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah, that's one of my favorites.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Oh so so, speaking of events that you're gonna be
joining us on the twenty six the Glamor and Style
Eli Fashion I'm sorry, yeah, Ellie Fashion Week takeover next week.
And then and then you were honored at the Hop Awards,
which I'm now a consultant and presenter with sous the
Tray and Tina and Amber Uh and and you're gonna

(27:33):
be joining us, uh this this weekend at the App
Hop Awards, and you're gonna you're gonna be posting all
of this fun that we're getting ready to have and
all the stuff we're talking about on the show on
the Easy Way Interactive app.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Right, Absolutely, the Easy Way Interactive is the way to go.
It's it's the new Facebook. It's it's going to tell
you everything that's going on in the alien, not just
like and look where every easy Way you is.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
It goes well, it's a it's a private it's by
no means that we have Facebook in any way, but
we were like a private version of a SaaS social network,
kind of like a Facebook. And and all the stars,
all the things that you see on the media, you
see on social media, you see that what that you're following,
you can actually interact with those stars with with the
business owners that we deal with are members in the

(28:30):
Easily Interact Your app. So if people want to connect
with you, they hear this interview, they go, wow, I'd
love to have Wreatha on my show or whatever. It's
a win win on both sides. You get another interview,
you get more exposure, and then and then the fans
get a chance, and really there's no fans. Really, it's
fam fam like family. Everybody's easy with families. So it's
it's a vetted social platform, but it's really cool because

(28:53):
people can actually interact with you wreath and then you
can also let people know the deals and the jobs
that you got because you know the types of people
that are part of the Easy Way Family, major, major,
high quality people that I'm sure you know. We make
it easier for people to reach out and touch our
easy Way Family online the outreaching side of things.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
So we have the interaction is amazing compared to reach
like back in the six stages. Look at the interaction
you do today to contact somebody in Europe instantaneously and
they have on the show.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
But reason can you Dad's so I interrupted, We have
another minute this, So can you join us on our
VIP pitch party. Love to have you. It's on zoom.
Yes you do need to get a little camera ready,
but it is on zoom right on your computer, and
it's it's very very popular. Now we're going on our
eight one hundred and eighteenth event with over ninety seven

(29:49):
celebrities and I'd love for you to be ninety eight,
help us reach our goal for one hundred.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
All right, absolutely, I'd be honored. Well, I've been, I've
been on a couple of pitch Fridays. I kind of
sneak in there.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
Yeah, but we need to you, We need to really,
we need to really feature you, and we'd be honored
honored to have you so in closing and closing Rita.
You were a host actually on Radio Boomers Live. In fact,
the show started out with you, with you and my
dad just having a blast together. Uh, talk a little
bit about about about that and do you miss it?

Speaker 6 (30:30):
Well how many how many years ago?

Speaker 2 (30:33):
It's because I occupied doing stuff that's equally as well.
I don't know it's equally is fun, but it's definitely
was fun doing everything with your dad, with you.

Speaker 8 (30:49):
Uh, we'd always.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Say, don't do it the hard way, do it the
easy way. And it was just wonderful the years that
I spend with you.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Yeah, it's it's not stopping from here. There's many, many
more to come in the easy Way Interactive app, and
you guys can search Retha Gray on the easy Way
Wall of Fame. Greith has been presenter with us. He's
been an honoree. She's a celebrity ambassadors. She's one of
our true true family and the easy Way family, and
we're just so proud of you, Retha. We're so happy

(31:23):
to see everything that you're doing. And I'm gonna throw
one more moment by the way, just like a fan moment.
I loved your role with Mike Tyson on How I
Met your Mother. That is a memorable one.

Speaker 8 (31:37):
That is a memorable Well, thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (31:42):
How many places oh a.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Great deal to Eric. A lot of people try to
take credit for things that I've done, and some of
them have had some help in helping me for the
Mike career. But I got to give a shout out
and thanks to Eric, because without him, I wouldn't have
come out of my show. People don't believe I'm in
a shell, but I really was very shy, and it

(32:08):
helped me to come out of my shell, help me
to learn how to own the carpet, from the part
of walking it to the part of interviewing people. And
I don't know anybody else who gives more people more
opportunity to be in touch with more quality people.

Speaker 6 (32:27):
Than Eric Zuli sopank you.

Speaker 7 (32:34):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (32:34):

Speaker 13 (38:06):
I am.

Speaker 12 (38:15):
There of the fold.

Speaker 15 (38:40):
A part Embryo.

Speaker 14 (39:18):
Well, hello there, Radio Land and I have a reason
why we are listening to that particular selection. I have
a very special guest. His name is doctor Earl Afari Hutchison,
and he recently celebrated his birthday on October the eighth,

(39:40):
and in his honor, I wanted to have that particular
selection played. It was a song that I played some
time ago, and I accompanied myself on the piano singing it.
And it's a classic that was written in nineteen thirty two.

(40:04):
And I want to introduce my guest, Earl al Farie Hutchison,
who was born on October the eighth in Chicago, Illinois,
and he received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology
from the California State College, Los Angeles, his Master of

(40:27):
Arts degrees in humanities from California State University, Domingus Hills,
and his PhD in sociology from the Pacific Western University.
He began his career in radio working at KPFK Radio
in Pacifica, California. In nineteen eighty two, he began a

(40:51):
subscription newsletter Ofari's five monthly, which discussed political and social issues.
He posted his newsletter for twelve years, and he went
on to write for several newspapers magazines, including The Chicago Tribune,
Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Black World, Ebony, Essence, Newsday, Nations, Harpers,

(41:18):
and Emerge. Hutcheson is the author of many books, and
he's also the recipient of many honors. We could go
on and on, because his credits would take us probably
the rest of the day.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
And he just.

Speaker 14 (41:35):
Received another honor recently because he has manuscripts that he
wrote that were inducted into a college there, which I
want him to tell you about. And I believe I
heard him his familiar chuckle on the line. So, doctor
Earl o'fari Hutchison, here we are, and I am feeling

(42:00):
grand because we are in the land of grand one
of the grandest places on earth to be America.

Speaker 9 (42:14):
Welcome, well, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 16 (42:17):
You know what, with that introduction, I love the applause
with that introduction, Carmelita, we finally are making it happen.
You know, we've been kind of going back and forth
trying to have a conversation, and boy do we need
a conversation now, probably more than ever at this juncture

(42:38):
in our history.

Speaker 14 (42:40):
Exactly. Yes, that's very true. Well, I hope you enjoyed
our musical introduction. God, you are, amongst other things, a musicologist.
A lot of people don't know that. And I actually
remember when you were having that aspect of your passion

(43:05):
as a separate show. Are you still going to be
producing your show on European classical music?

Speaker 16 (43:14):
Well, you know, Carmelita, you are right. You know, I
am a long term in a long time afficionado, you know,
particularly even more of a specialist nineteenth century European classical music.
And one of the things I try, well, two things
I tried to do when I have my regular KPFK

(43:37):
political show, the Earlofari Hutchinson Show, and even before that,
the Hutchinson Report, what I tried to do was blend
in classical music. I would have that as a lot
of theme music, film music, and you know, little bits
and here, little bits and pieces here just kind of
introduced people my audience to aspects of classical music. A

(44:01):
little bit later on KPFK management they liked the idea,
and I had been bugging them for years about a
classical music show, So they had a new manager that
came in. You like classical music, we tried that, you
said you got.

Speaker 9 (44:15):
The green light.

Speaker 16 (44:16):
We did that for about three or four months. Unfortunately
it didn't from their point of view. For whatever reason,
it was taken off. So what I've done from time
to time is on occasionally blog, talk radio and some
other venues classical music. You know, Carmelita, let me tell
you exactly why my other motive is so important with

(44:41):
classical music. You know, I am so heavily involved with political,
social political issues. I mean constantly. I mean that seems
to be my life. Like anything else in life, we
need a line down, we need an alternative, we need
another world to escape to, another universe, and also the
other thing, Carmelita, and certainly you identify with this because

(45:04):
it's you. Many people tend to pigeonhole us. Oh well,
you know, all he can talk about is she can
talk about is this or do that? But you know what,
we wear many hats. We are diverse, individ we are
diverse individuals with many interests. So oftentimes it's surprising to
people when they say, well, wait a minute, this guy
is in the yoga, he's in the running, Uh, he's

(45:26):
in the fitness, he's in the Mediterranean diets, he's in
the classical music, he's in the urban ballroom dancing.

Speaker 11 (45:35):
I thought she was just a political analyst, that's all
you talked about. And I said, no, I'm a human being.
I do a lot of things with a lot of interest.
I mean, that's the world we live in, m.

Speaker 14 (45:49):
And I like to refer to myself as a renaissance woman.
That's a term that has been given to me that
I've taken on. Like that term because it's probably the
best way that I can be described. I mean, I
don't like to be pigeonholed at all, as you probably know.

(46:11):
And in fact, I I you know, am living outside
the box most of the time. I've always been a rebel.

Speaker 9 (46:22):
I wouldn't have any other way.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
You know.

Speaker 14 (46:24):
I love it, you know, I remember what I was
even teaching school, you know, as an la art educator.
I remember I was always rocking the boat because I
wonder I wasn't called into the principal's office more often,
because you know, what is she doing now, you know?

Speaker 9 (46:43):
Right?

Speaker 14 (46:44):
But it was with a good, good reason. You know.
It was to energize, it was to promote, provoke and
my students. I am so proud of because you know,
I plot nearly twenty five years in mostly south central LA,
some people referred to as the Hood. That's where the

(47:07):
riots broke out near Normandy and Florence. And you know,
I had to deal with some heavy, heavy hitters there,
you know, the Crypts. Those were my babies. In fact,
one of them gave me a blue, beautiful sweater with
sequins on it as a gift, and he said, I

(47:29):
want you to know, I ain't never given no teacher
this kind of gift before. And I wanted to reach
out and hug him and thank him. And he said,
my Mama, don't hug me. You know. I said, oh
my god, you know, miss the tough guy.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
You know.

Speaker 14 (47:42):
So I'd run across a bunch of those, but I
always got over with them because they all thought I
was their mama. I really did. I adopted them all
and you know, embraced them as their mama. And then
later on after I left the district, my friend too
was Richard. Mister Jerome Richardson, who has also been a

(48:04):
guest on Carmelita's Corner, said oh, no, we need you
over here. So after I called myself graduating from teaching school,
nineteen eighty nine, I went over to Inglewood quote opportunity
unquote school. Now that's where the roughnecks really were. I mean,
those are the kids that have been kicked out of

(48:26):
regular school, you know. So I had the bloods over there.
So I've had the best of both both worlds.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
You know.

Speaker 14 (48:34):
But I know you can relate to all of that
because you and I have been in, you know, in
a universe where we have had to use our influence
to encourage and to support people who might go off
the rails. And you know, it's encouraging when you see

(48:55):
like my youngsters who came in first, second, and third
place in the art my centennial art contest, and at
the time, my husband and I had Pittman Limousine service
and we had the only gold limousine in town, and
so they picked up their awards in the same limousine

(49:17):
that my husband had used to transport Smokey Robinson the
day before to pick up his award and he celebrated
his birthday. But you know, those are just some of many, many,
many stories that I could share with you. And we
have a lot of friends in common. We discovered, you know,
when we talked earlier this morning, like Donna Diamon Lee,

(49:40):
I hope that she's listening, will give her a shout out.

Speaker 16 (49:44):
Yes, yes, well we do. And it's a small world,
and it's a world that we have moved through for many,
many years. So no surprise, Calmer Leader, that we would
have won a number of people that we know, I
mean up close in person, work with and value their
friendship and support. And then the second thing is because

(50:06):
we've been out there so long. I mean, come on,
you're going to be meeting a lot of people because
we are active, So that just comes with the turf.
But I want to circle back on something you said,
you know about energizing young people and also oftentimes bumping
head with bumping his with the establishment, you know, whether

(50:26):
you go all the way back to Jesus Christ. And
I'm not putting ourselves in that category by any means,
or any independent, any challenger, anyone that challenges the authority
and the established order down to history.

Speaker 9 (50:40):
All the way back to the beginning.

Speaker 16 (50:42):
As you know, it's a double edged sword. Yes, you're
in a position to influence, shake things up, get people
to think, get people to act, But Carmelita, you also
know too. The other edge of that sword is you
pay a price for it. Oftentimes you're ostracized. Times you're
an outcast. Oftentimes you're ignored and shun and made fun

(51:04):
of and ridiculed. So you have to balance the two.
Both of them come with the turf you move ahead.
But also the other thing, the beautiful thing, those that
make change, those that energize. History is very kind to them.
They are the ones that are remembered, and they are
the ones down the line. Maybe not at the time,

(51:25):
but down the line. They are always cherished, and their
contributions and all of their good works their value, and
they're eternal. They stand the test of time.

Speaker 14 (51:38):
Well, listen, doctor earl. You know what, I don't know
what to say. When you're having a good time. The
time just flies by. And I'm getting a cue now
from my producer that another guest just coming on. So
I was hoping we would stay on longer. Perhaps maybe
you'll consider coming back again in the future.

Speaker 16 (51:59):
You know what, if you know what, I always think this,
You know what, where is it written that you can't
send out a second letter or a third letter.

Speaker 9 (52:09):
Let's do it again.

Speaker 14 (52:10):
Let's do it again. That's the name of another movie.
Let's do it again, Let's do it again that movie.

Speaker 16 (52:19):
By the way, Well I guess what now, we'll make
it more in the movie. It will be us reunited again.

Speaker 14 (52:26):
Okay, reunited. That's another song too by Peaches and Her.
We'll be reunited. Thank you, doctor Earle for coming on
and my pleasure.

Speaker 6 (52:35):
All right now, take care, all right.

Speaker 4 (52:39):
Another awesome segment of Carmelia's Corner and amazing guests. They
just don't stop. Make sure you connect with them on
the easy Way interactive app. And coming up next is
our third and final guest, and a very very special one.
I want to give him a really proper introduction. This
is the Gentleman's guys that have had my back from

(53:03):
the day that they rolled the egg on the carpet
and I hatched with a microphone in my hand, and
I met him on a carpet that we were kind
of producing, and I was also interviewing at He wasn't
on the carpet, but he was on the carpet. We
made him get on the carpet that much more. Remember that, Max,

(53:23):
And he told me, Man, we need to make you shine,
we need to make you look look good. And you
know this is what I do. And Max A million
I call him, is the owner and founder of Mascalone Connections,
eight one pint one South Los Angeles Streets. If you
want to be suited and booted, you want to see

(53:43):
how I looked with Acon and Vivlica Fox and Paula
Abdul and all of these amazing events. Why I get
all these compliments. This is the man with the plan,
with the soups and the fashion in his hand. Welcome
to the show, without further to do. It's so awesome
and so proud to have you.

Speaker 6 (54:03):
Max, Max, and Max is a cool guy too. Thank
you Max for coming on. And you are you are
the guy that opens the door to style and the ideas.
Because when I went in there yesterday, I thought that's shurt.
I had to fly on its casual and you brought
a shirt that I probably wouldn't have picked out. But

(54:24):
after I after you showed me, I had it on
and I went to the event, I thought, this is
really sharp, this is what's in style, and this is
the kind of shirt that went with my suit. So
it takes it takes experience. You know, you don't just
become a tailor or style, it's like you or it
takes a lot of learning experience to Max.

Speaker 4 (54:46):
Thank you so much for taking the time to come
on our little old show. It's close to eight hundred
thousand listeners now iHeartRadio, Spotify Player, fam Amazon Music. It
goes on and on. We have all of our easy
Way family that clicks the share button and we're going
to get everybody to know about Mascaloni Connections. But before
we get to the mathalone Connections part, Max, will you

(55:08):
please tell us your story from childhood? You know, I
really want people to get to know Max just like
I do. Please give us your story.

Speaker 6 (55:18):
Yeah, and kind of what brought you down that path?

Speaker 4 (55:21):
Max?

Speaker 6 (55:21):
Was there any specific person that came in or you know,
brought you down the path of where you're at today
with passion?

Speaker 7 (55:28):
Passion? Yes, Eric.

Speaker 10 (55:30):
When I was about thirteen fourteen years old, I had
a cousin. He was a tailor and I was looking
at the magazine on that time and I saw this couple,
nice look, and I told my cousins, I want to
do this look for.

Speaker 7 (55:47):
Me, but opposite way.

Speaker 10 (55:49):
He said, you're crazy, nobody gonna wear this one. You
look like a comedian. I said, look I want to
be comedians.

Speaker 7 (55:58):
I've created a look and we put it.

Speaker 10 (56:01):
After two months it was Christmas season. We put it
in the window and you cannot believe it. They have
so many orders on that particular jacket and the pants
and the shirt and tie. My cousin said, I'm going
to give you free because we make lots of money
for this look. Because it was different. That's all. It

(56:26):
was the difference and the color correlation. From that moment
in my mind, I had a.

Speaker 7 (56:34):
Very good taste. I can see the colors, and life
goes on.

Speaker 10 (56:39):
I pay a little bit of professional soccer and then
I come to this country and start working and I
find my nature. I work for some people I learned
from them. Still I'm learning. Still I'm learning. But I
have lots of followers. They believing me, and they believing

(56:59):
on my taste. And I create a Christian culture collection
that's my main clothing line. And being ups and down
for like everybody else, nobody gonna say I'm all the
time successful.

Speaker 7 (57:15):
Now there is the dates. It's a moment.

Speaker 10 (57:19):
There's a month you're off, there's a year's you're down.
But we're challenging. But I'm here. If anybody needs nice clothes,
reasonable prices with the good quality. They can come see
me and I's kind of show him from A to
Z what they can put.

Speaker 7 (57:39):
On every day, seven days a week, and they look
like a million dollars period.

Speaker 6 (57:45):
Well you have you have the variety. I mean you
can walk in and get a conservative suit, an executive suit,
a flash suit. Okay, I mean you cover it, like
you said, for a disease, and I have I have.

Speaker 4 (57:58):
I have the second that too. Max. You really you
you put a lot of handle, love and care. And
I've been watching you. I mean, we've been together for
over fifteen years, and every time I'm gone, yeah, twenty
twenty years, I don't even we've known, we've known each
other for so long. And every time I've seen you

(58:21):
with your customers, which none of your they're they're not
even customers. They're regular repeated friends that come in and
and you just handle them with so much care. And honestly,
anybody that's listening to this right now, you have you
have to realize that if you come into two Mastalone
Connections eight one one South Lost Angeles Street, that you're

(58:41):
going to be handled with care. You're going to be
shown what you need to get an intimate love. There's
a lot of these like you know, I just went
just to Hollywood Suit that way, nothing nothing to say,
say anything bad about them, and we got a couple
of amazing suits, but the love and the care wasn't
as is the same as as I got with Masaloni Collections.

(59:03):
You know, you really care about how I mean, nobody,
nobody knows fashion better than you, Max, Becuz you've been
doing this for so long and it I mean, if
you're if you're needing men's fashion, and you I mean
you're going on a carpet, you're going to a meeting,
you're you're you're going to any type of function with
your family, or you just want to look good and

(59:24):
maybe go on Instagram and take some selfie pictures. You've
got to go to Maxaloni Connections.

Speaker 6 (59:29):
Uh so you know what it is there? When people
walk in, they're talking, like Max is in, they're talking,
it's like they're having a good time. You go like, wait, what,
I won't mention the night, but were going on to
another place and it was strictly business, you know, like
here's the suit, here's the suit, but it's uh, Max
has got that attitude, that friendly and I've always said,

(59:49):
you can rule the world with a smile. And he
treats his customers like family. And yeah, showing all over.

Speaker 4 (59:56):
And Max, I got a little surprised for you. You
you know who won? Warren g is right, yes, sir, okay.
So so his father is a is A is a
good friend of mine and I go way, way way
back with him, and he's he's a He's a gentleman
from Haiti. He deals with kings and queens and princes

(01:00:18):
and and just so, I mean, he knows every celebrity
that exists. But but he saw what I was wearing
last night, and he asked, He's like, man. Since since
since since you were egg on the hatch on the carpet,
I've been following you. And every time I've seen you,
you look so fresh, you know, and and and I said,

(01:00:40):
Masteraloney collections connections, my man, I need to bring you
into the store. So I'm going to be introducing you,
Max to warn GE's father personally and walking him into
that store as well as Acon if I can. I
I've reconnected with him. I'm telling you, man, I just
got so much love for you. Max, because you really

(01:01:03):
had that love for me in the in the in
the beginning stages, and I was I was just a
guy with the microphone. I wasn't anything special or I
mean I was doing a couple of things. I had
a couple of million people on YouTube, but like it
wasn't what it is now. But yet you, I mean,
let me ask you this, Max, what was it that
you saw in me? And why why did you choose

(01:01:24):
me to support me and and sponsor and and just
be there for making me look as fresh and making
me shine on all these carpets and the events. Why
why did you did you do that? Er?

Speaker 10 (01:01:38):
Eric, you had a lot to drive and I see
that potential on you, and I said, this young man
is going.

Speaker 7 (01:01:45):
To be one day somebody. You know.

Speaker 10 (01:01:48):
You have the passion for it, you have a drive
for it, and you challenging everybody because you was new.
Looked like if one soccer player, he's one one hundred
and forty minutes not ninety minutes on the forty minutes
for the game.

Speaker 7 (01:02:04):
You did that and.

Speaker 10 (01:02:05):
I saw it and I picture it. I said, this
guy is the guy. He can have a good career.
And you know what, I can't support them as much
as I can. That was the whole look hold drive
and the pictures.

Speaker 6 (01:02:22):
But I say, well, you know, you know, you know,
Eric goes. I just wanted to share those suits. We're
talking about some really custom looking suits. With the vest
you had the one yellow vest kind of beige.

Speaker 4 (01:02:36):
With the it was an official easy way that was special. Yeah.

Speaker 17 (01:02:41):
Yeah, there was some real and this is white I
and I've had people tell me, you know, I remember
Pepper even said, you know when I saw Eric, he
just the way he took over a carpet and the
way he was dressed.

Speaker 6 (01:02:55):
Well there's Max and it. Well tell you what you know, Max,
You actually you and Eric started something different out there
because a trend because people would come to do interviews
and whatever and they would have maybe a T shirt
out or geez. When Eric started doing this and the
how he shine with you, you know, hooking him up

(01:03:17):
with the suit, people started doing that. They started dressing
up more. So you change the trend. Actually, yep, I
remember that's pretty big. That's well, I.

Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
Want I want everybody that's this listening right now. That's
if you're not following me, make sure you follow me.
But but go to my Instagram and and really go
through all of the clothing. You see me on the
NAACP Awards and with Anthony Anderson and sister sister to
me and Tamara and and and Paul Abdul and Akon

(01:03:49):
and Vivica Fox and and and you know, the American
Film Convention and all the things that you see that
I do. Every single suit pretty much the Family Film
Awards on CBS, when I presented you know, Dancing with
the Stars. It goes on and on and on and
on on and on and on and on and on.
Every suit that you see me wearing. Everything is is
what it was too to Italy at the time. And

(01:04:11):
so let's what what what?

Speaker 14 (01:04:13):
What?

Speaker 12 (01:04:13):
What?

Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
Why the change? Max? Why did you change it from
to literally the masters Macealonian connections.

Speaker 10 (01:04:19):
Because somebody need to scam on our company and try
to get money. Yes, and unfortunately the fighting that matters
is now that's what we have to close it down
on the name because they're trying to get the loan
from our company.

Speaker 7 (01:04:38):
Without out authorization.

Speaker 10 (01:04:40):
That was the biggest thing they did and what there
was Unfortunately we find out that Nigerian.

Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
People, well I'm I'm actually glad it happened because I
like Mastaloni connections a lot better. And and uh, you
know the logo. I mean, you guys gonna look for
the orange and the blue. That's what they're known for.

Speaker 7 (01:05:00):
Yea and orange blue. That's our cigarette to.

Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
Me, yep, yep. And you're you're you're rocking out there, Max,
You're going to be the one of the leads, lead
designers on a real big event that Derrick Hutchinson is
doing and I'm producing on and and we're all coming
together on the Glamor and Style h l A Fashion
Week Takeover. It's like the final last week's events for

(01:05:23):
LA Fashion Week. And and we have myself, Robert Richard,
Trey Ireland, Patrick Fassett. I'm going to see if one
G's uh father VP Big Papa wants to wants to
get involved, and and and more and more celebrities all
wearing your your suits. And not only do you have suits,

(01:05:44):
but I mean I want to point out you you
have you have jackets, you have jeans. I still got
your jeans. Those really cool Italians black beans, you gimme.
I rock them every day every day. They're like my
favorite gender. And the belts and the shoes and and
the hats and the I mean you have everything for men, uh,
you know. And then we're going to be working on

(01:06:05):
a special fashion show in your store. We're going to
be working on on on real special In fact, the
the March second event that we're doing at the City
in County, Los Angeles, California, the Hills Hotel with Trey Ireland,
Kate Linder from Young and the Restless UH starring the
Highwaalker Famous hosting it, Samantha Goldberg from E Highly Involved.

(01:06:28):
Where we're talking to to so many amazing people to
benefit Better Vision for children, and and I know that
you're going to be You're gonna be donating something very
very special at that event to help these kids. And
I know that you've been involved with charity and nonprofits
for so long. I really want to highlight the philanthropist
in you. Max.

Speaker 10 (01:06:51):
I can be there and we've got to put something
for to help these kids to get met at Vision.

Speaker 4 (01:06:58):
So what I'm what I'm thinking, what I want to
I want to just you know, I'm a I'm a creator,
I'm a brainstormer on air and I and then my
best stuff comes out, Uh when I'm when I'm on
air or really in the shower. Those are those are
some good ideas in places. But but but basically, what
I'm thinking is we're gonna have a lot of people
that would love to be suited and booted, but you
never know the size, right. So we have we have

(01:07:20):
a couple examples of the type of fashion that you have.
But what if we gave away for the biggest donation
which one hundred percent of that money goes to these
kids to stop them from blindness, schools, all the things
that Better Visions for Children does. But what if we
gave away a special experience with Max at Mastalone Connections

(01:07:42):
where you suit them and boot them, you make them
look and then we'll bring Easy Way promotions into it
and we'll market them. We'll combine it together.

Speaker 6 (01:07:52):
Yeah, I talked about Max. What's Max about working with
the kids, and he's all excited, he's in So.

Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
What do you what you think about that? Max? I
want people to get excited about that.

Speaker 10 (01:08:02):
It is a blessing to help people. You know, everybody
needs help. Everybody needs help. You have to help our
people regardless. Ye, Unfortunately in this country, some parents they
don't care about the kids. That's the very Unfortunately. You

(01:08:26):
have to love your kids regardless. You have a God
on your heart, and if you have to, your second
God is your parents and then goes to the kids.
You have to transfer love to the kids. If you
don't transfer the love to the kids, you're nobody.

Speaker 6 (01:08:44):
The Bible even says be a mother or father to
those who have none. And you know, if you're not
going to be people understand they have their things to do.
It doesn't mean you have to be a Fosse parent,
but you can get involved in many ways in helping
these kids that don't I remember when I used to
work with them years ago and be at the foster homes.

(01:09:05):
They would be on the phone a few days before
Thanksgiving or Christmas trying to call somebody that they can
go have a dinner for Christmas or Thanksgiving, just to
go to somebody's house. But they're all incarcerated or deceased
and they had a hard time finding somebody. So that's
what we try to do, especially around the holidays. That's

(01:09:27):
where I go on Christmas.

Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
We're going to do a big toy drive on December
fifteenth at the Hills Hotel as well. If you want
to get involved Max. So, Max, is there any stories
you could share with us? I know you've dressed so
many people, You've done so many things in your life.
Any stories you could share that would be inspiring to
maybe other up and coming designers, other up and coming
people that want to be like Max, that want to

(01:09:50):
walk in Max's footsteps.

Speaker 10 (01:09:53):
You know what, nobody is perfect that everybody. I think
you have to learn somehow, But you're never gonna say
I know everything. Nobody knows everything. You have to have
a stab by stab and listen to somebody as experience
and as a right taste. Experience makes a big difference.

(01:10:15):
And you have to see on the fashion. You know,
you have to see colors. Any colors is not for
everybody else. You know, I think Eric, you you like
flashy stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:10:29):
That's somebody that's conservative. You have to go. You have
to listen to your customers.

Speaker 4 (01:10:35):
You have to.

Speaker 10 (01:10:36):
Create a look for every individual. You cannot go and
put the something does not make any sense to somebody's executive.
But you can change little bit, take out from the box.
But he is to wearing all the time black and navy.
You can put some nice pin stripe suits, some window,

(01:10:59):
paint jacket, nice trousers. You feel more comfortable and more relaxed,
because Friday can be a relaxed it's nice sports jacket,
nice shirt, no tie or.

Speaker 7 (01:11:12):
Pair of jeans, you can do.

Speaker 10 (01:11:14):
Contrast something so built a new new image, you know,
new look for everybody.

Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
Everybody. So so we we had to go close up
the show show now. But but you mentioned something. Guys,
if you go look on easy Way Interactive, if you
look on Facebook, you'll see that there's a you know,
a live again everything's on the easy Way family uh
Facebook groups, uh Interactive as well as LinkedIn. You'll you'll

(01:11:42):
see a special live real time.

Speaker 12 (01:11:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Max is actually dressing me for the for the Fashion
for Peace events supported by Paul abdua Icon and Vivica
Fox and so many others. And and you said something
on that video. Max, We're like, if you come see
me and you mentioned that you're part of the easy
Way Family again eight one one South Los Angeles Street,

(01:12:08):
Macealoni Connections, that you'll give them a special deal or
special discount or something I want.

Speaker 10 (01:12:13):
Any time, anytime, anytime anybody mentioned easy even our new
collection comes coming. Gin He's gonna get thirty percent off.
And you have at the store right now, right now,
if you have a store, if you have lots of
fifty percent off of some merchandise, we're just cleaning them up.

Speaker 7 (01:12:34):
But again I say, anybody, come ask Max.

Speaker 10 (01:12:38):
Or really we will be able to give special discount
thirty percent on anything that by it easy show wow, guys,
my family, Yes, yes.

Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
Thank you. I appreciate that. And by the way, thank
you so much with all the kind that you said
about me. I'm so I'm so humbled. And and you're
my guy as well. Uh and and I endorse you
one hundred and fifty percent. And I really give you
a lot of credit Max and and and Masteraloney Connections
because it was it was one of the one of
the fuels or oils in my engine that helped me

(01:13:20):
drive and be able to get to where I am
now today. It really was, No, honestly, from the bottom
of my heart, you and Pepper and and and you know,
certain certain people in my life truly truly believed in me.
And and now I'm gonna reciprocate. Now I'm gonna I'm
I'm gonna do everything I can. I mean, guys, just
like Max said, let's help these kids. Let's help Max.

(01:13:40):
I want all my easy Way family to come through.
And I'm telling you you're gonna love their stuff. You're
gonna love and then and here's the thing too, You
guys know how I roll. If you guys come into
his store and you either take a picture a selfie,
you know, I'm all about content, go live, especially telling
and show the experience of you getting suit and booted.

(01:14:02):
I'll do something real special and we'll we'll uh, we'll
put you guys. We'll post you, guys to a million
million followers on Instagram, or we'll feature you in the magazine,
or we'll do something real special for you. Uh. Max,
We're gonna do this. I'm so glad that you're gonna

and we're gonna get your Instagram going. Tell everybody Max

(01:14:24):
your Instagram and how people can follow you and get
involved with Masteraloni connections.

Speaker 10 (01:14:31):
Example is they can't go to my Instagram is a
Mastelloni connection. It's eric. I mean, you know, I'm old fashioned.
I don't do too much of the Instagram stuff like that.
But you teach me something today and I've been able
to do something on Instagram, I will involved.

Speaker 7 (01:14:54):
With that thing digital and make it happen. You know.

clothing line is A Christian Katouf. That's my name, that's
my son name, and I'm so proud of it, and
that's why I put his name on.

Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
