Speaker 1 (00:34):
This is a message we have heard from him, and
to declare to you God is light in him, there
is no darkness at all. If we claim to have
fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness, we lie
and do not live out the truth. But if we
walk in the light and He is in the light,
(00:57):
we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus his Son purifies us from all sin. If we
claim to be without sin, we declare ourselves and the
truth is not in us. If we confess our sins,
(01:20):
he is faithful and just and will forgive us all
our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we
claim we have not sinned, we make him out to
be a liar, and his word is not in us.
(01:42):
So it's a pretty powerful reading about how God clears
out the darkness and forgives all of us for our sins.
In that then, of course, Jesus Christ came to earth
to wash away the sins of our pasts and to
(02:10):
ensure us that we are invited to be in God's
heavenly kingdom. So there's some fine things that we should
should be talking about with this, also about our fellowship
(02:30):
with our heavenly Father, and that includes a conversation that
we have with our heavenly Father and prayer in how
our prayers may be answered and how we may be
not listening to what the answers to our prayers really are.
(02:52):
So I'm gonna start off with this. It's something that
I saw on social media and it had Morgan a
clip from a scene with Morgan Freeman as he played God,
and God in this case was presenting himself to a
young lady as a diner server, and it kind of
(03:20):
went something like this. The the young lady was hoping
for strength and so that she could get through a
uneasy time that she was now in. Something happened in
(03:41):
her life and it was troubling her. And at the
same time, when she while as she was asking God
for the strength to go through what she had to
go through, and her question why she had to go
(04:07):
through what she had to go through whatever the troubling
time was, she was asking a server for another basket
of fries. And thus is Morgan Freeman, who is God,
(04:27):
presenting himself as a server in a diner, and he
says to this young lady and say, sometimes we ask
(04:48):
for things from God and say strength and hope or
something like that. And what he offers us is an
opportunity to see how strong we really are, how hopeful
life is, and that the answer to our prayers may
(05:15):
not be what we think it is. It may in
turn be because what we need to see is that
we already have it inside of us, so that it
is the opportunity to see that we have it. And
that was the whole point of the scene. And at
(05:35):
the end of the scene of the basket of fries
was full. And of course this scene ends and Morgan
Freeman disappears. Okay, so but let's talk about that. Let's
talk about how we talk to God ask him for things.
(06:00):
But and then we're disappointed because we didn't think God
was listening to us. And the thing is is that
God listens to everything that we ask of him, and
he does answer everything that we ask him for. He
does continue that conversation. It's just are we open to
(06:24):
looking for what the answer really is? Are we open
to hearing what the lesson was so that we could learn,
because that's the whole thing God offers us, this free will.
This free will is for us to follow him and
(06:49):
to love him. It doesn't mean that because he wants
us to openly love him, to openly follow him, it
doesn't mean He's just going to present us with our
every wish because we put our faith in him. It
(07:11):
doesn't mean that. What it does mean is that God
is going to because we put our faith in him,
that He's going to ensure the fact that we learn
the lessons that we're supposed to learn, so that we
become stronger beings, so that our spirits become stronger, and
that we become better people, better brothers, brothers, sisters to
(07:39):
all of those who are around us. But we have
to listen, and we have to listen not just with
our ears. We have to not just look for what
our expectations say this should be, but we have to
look for the fine details to fine details in life
(08:00):
that offersers guidance. For instance, you sit there, you pray.
We've done this. As children, we pray for all sorts
of wonderful little things, not knowing that our parents are
actually in the wings listening to our to our prayers
and our hopes, and they go run out and buy it.
(08:25):
But even with that, the fact that our parents are
listening is because God put it inside of them to
stop and listen to their children. So when we ask
(08:46):
for this, these strengths, and we ask for the light
of hope, we can't just simply expect it to be
this bright thing that happens all of a sudden is
that God is going to hand us different opportunities in
life so that we can see that we have the strength,
(09:12):
so that we can see that we have the courage.
He offers the opportunity to show our strength so that
we can see it ourselves, to offer us the opportunity
to be courageous, offers us the opportunity to do these things,
to be heroic because we ask Him for those things,
(09:36):
not just simply give them to us. Because the truth is,
and the absolute truth is, that He has already given
it to us. We just have to be able to
see it inside of ourselves. So He gives us these
opportunities for us to be able to see that we
(09:58):
have it. How we see those opportunities, how our mind
views those opportunities is up to us, because we may
actually see it as more adversity that God has dumped
(10:21):
on as more and more problems rather than answering our prayer.
But the truth is, he is guiding us to see
that we have what we're asking for. He's giving us
the opportunity to use our gifts to find our way
(10:47):
through what is ahead of us. That, my friends, is
how God works. There are mysterious ways, yes, but at
the basics of it is he wants us to learn
what is inside of us already. He wants us to
(11:13):
learn what He has already placed inside of us. Our
corporate world wants us to look outside of ourselves to
find confidence, to find hope, to find happiness. They don't
because then they can sell us a product. God wants
(11:36):
us to look inside of ourselves to find these things.
He doesn't want want us to necessarily look around outside
of us, because He's already placed it inside of us.
So the harder we look and dig inside of ourselves,
(11:59):
the more of the answers of hope, courage, strength, All
those positive things that we think that other people have
and that we're lacking are inside of us already. We
just have to look inside and use it at the
opportunities that God presents to us. It's a very different
(12:27):
way of looking at the world that our creator built
for us. He does these things for us not to us. Lord,
(12:51):
Help us to see each opportunity as exactly that, an
opportunity to use the talent and the strengths and the
powers that we have inside of us. Help us to
understand the lessons that you're trying to teach us and
(13:15):
learn as much as we can through each and every
moment we are alive. Help us by offering your spirit
to us, so that we can see your guidance, hear
your guidance, feel your guidance. Is it opens our souls
(13:38):
and our spirits to the more and more of the
beautiful things that are around us. Help us to help
us to see what you have built for us well,
the things that you have done for us, so that
we can use our talents to help others and to
(14:07):
understand how our universe works around us. Help us to
be the beings that you want us to be. Help
us to be the people we are supposed to be
for you, Amen, Ye,
