Speaker 1 (00:33):
On his arrival, Jesus found Lazars had already been in
the tomb for four days. Now. Bethany was less than
two miles from Jerusalem, and miny Jews had come to
Martha and Mary to comfort them in their loss of

(00:54):
their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she
went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. Lord,
Martha said to Jesus, if he had been here, my
brother would not have died. But I know that even

(01:15):
now God will give you whatever you will give you,
whatever you ask. Jesus said to her, your brother will
rise again. Martha answered, I know he will rise again
in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her,

(01:38):
I am the Resurrection, I am the Life. I am
the one who believes in The one who believes in
me will live even though they die, and whoever lives
by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this, yes, Lord,

(02:01):
she replied, I believe that you are the Messiah and
the Son of God who is to come into the world.
After she had said this, she went back and called
her sister Mary aside. The teacher is here, she said,
and he is asking for you. When Mary heard this,

(02:24):
she got up quickly and went to him. Now Jesus
had not yet entered the village, but was still at
the place where Martha had met. When Jews, who had

(02:45):
been with Mary in the house comforting her, notice how
quickly she got up and went out, they followed her,
supposing she was going to the tombda mourn there. When
Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him,
she fell at his feet. Lord, if you had been here,

(03:07):
my brother would not have died. When Jesus saw her weeping,
and the Jews who had come along with her, also weeping,
he deeply moved in spirit and troubled. Where have you
laid him? He asked, Come and see, Lord, they replied.

(03:34):
Jesus wept. Then the Jews saw how he loved him.
But when but some of them said, could not he been?
Who could not he who opened the eyes of the

(03:55):
blind man have kept this man from dying. Let's I
want to focus on one thing from this reading, and
it is what Jesus says, I am the resurrection and

(04:15):
the life. And it wasn't just the power that was
instilled within Jesus that brought Lazarus back. It was actually
the faith of all the people that showed up to
speak with Jesus that empowered Jesus to be able to

(04:41):
raise Lazarus from the dead the way he did that
particular day. You see what it says, I am the Resurrection,
I am the Life. It means that we are supposed
to live life as Jesus had had lived. He is

(05:02):
giving us the example of how to live a loving life.
And here's what's actually troubling me in today's society is
that people are taking the word of Jesus and they're

(05:24):
twisting it into a doctrine and imposing that doctrine in
those rules upon people, saying that if you stray from this,
if you're different from that, that God will no longer
love you. That's simply not true. What is true is

(05:47):
that because we have the love of God deep in
our heart, the wage Jesus tells us, we do throughout
his entire story and gospel. He tells us and he
reminds us that we have that love inside of us,
that love that God put there. Because we have it,

(06:07):
that we can move mountains, that because we have this
faith for God, our creator, God, our Father, that we
can stand together as one people within that love that
we don't have to hate. Jesus is over and over

(06:34):
again tries to teach us that it is easier and
better to love than it is to hate. And yet
so many out there have decided to hijack this word,
this word of peace, and twist it into something that
can be used as a weapon, a weapon that will

(06:57):
oppress people and tear them down. That under it all,
that this weapon that they have they have turned Jesus'
word into is so that they can line their pockets
with the greed buy their indulgence. Is because they think
that they can buy their way into heaven. You can't.

(07:26):
The only way to follow the path of Jesus Christ,
the only way is to stop hating and start loving.
Two When when you see one of our brothers and
sisters that is that is downtrodden, that we lift them up,

(07:52):
we clean them up, and when we dust them off,
we help them find their path again. That we don't
just leave from there in a dirt and ridicule.
