Samuel Anoints David 16 The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.” But Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.” The Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’ Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.” Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?” Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.” 12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
The Lord said to Samuel, how long will you mourn
for Saul since I have rejected him as king over Israel.
Fill your horn with oil and be on your way.
I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have

(00:57):
chosen the one of his son's to be king. But
Samuel said, how can I go? If Saul hears about it,
he will kill me. The Lord said, take a heifer
with you and say, I have come to sacrifice to

(01:20):
the Lord. Invite Jesse to the sacrifice. I will show
you what to do. You are to anoint for me
the one I indicate. Samuel did what the Lord said.

(01:43):
When he arrived at Bethlehem. The elders of the town
trembled when they met him. Did you come, and they asked,
did you come in peace? Samuel replied, yes, in peace.
I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate ourselves

(02:04):
and come to sacrifice with me. Then he consecrated Jersey
and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. When
they arrive, Samuel saw alb and thought, surely the Lord's

(02:26):
any Lord's anointed stands here before the Lord. But the
Lord said to Samuel, do not consecrate his appearance or
his height. I have rejected him. The Lord does not

(02:51):
look at things. People look at people look outward, but
the Lord looks at the heart. And then Jesse called

(03:12):
to Anadib and brought him to pass in front of Samuel.
But Samuel said, the Lord has not chosen this one either.
Jesse then said to Shamah passed by, but nor has
the Lord chosen this one. Jesse had seven sons passed

(03:39):
before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, the Lord has
not chosen these. So he asked, Jesse, are these all
your sons? There is still the youngest. He is tending
the sheep. Samuel said, send for him, and I will

(04:06):
not sit down until he arrives. So he went. He
sent for him and had him brought in. He was
glowing with health and had to find appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said rise and annoyed him. This is

(04:29):
the one. Okay, So I want to go back to
something that I read here. People look okay. The Lord

(04:49):
does not look at people at things. People look at
people look at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at
the heart. That means that that God knows what's inside
of you, and that's what he's going to look at

(05:09):
when he asks you for something. He has chosen you
because of what is inside of you, not because of
your outward appearance, not of how you're going to appear
to others around you, but because he knows what is
inside of you. He knows what you can do, He
knows what your purpose is because he helped place it there.

(05:33):
Matter of fact, he did place it there. The only
thing that is this okay, and I don't know how
to go through this several times over when we talk
about free will, free will means your willingness to love God.

(05:54):
The one thing that God can put every talent that
you can imagine into into your being, allow you to
do amazing things with your life. He can do all that,
but the one thing that he can't make you do

(06:17):
is accept his love. Now, that also means that if
you're not accepting of his love, that all those talents
that God has placed inside of you, all of those
purposes you're sure supposed to serve, you may not be
able to serve them because you haven't accepted the love
inside of you. Which is that energy? Is that thing

(06:41):
that that energy that will enable you to for lack
of the most simplest things is that that energy that
will enable you to do backflips for the Lord. The
reason why Samuel was able to go and see what

(07:06):
the Lord wanted from him and to anoint the right
person is because he himself had looked inside of himself
and found the talents that God put there. That's why
he went on this mission to begin with. God knows

(07:26):
what's inside of us, and that's the thing we have
to look inside of us to find it. Okay, so
back to the fact that I probably do serve social
media way too much. But part of me doing that

(07:50):
is there are people that may not look so desirable,
but I have commented on this their posts because their
posts come from the heart, and it's coming from a
loving place that I have told them how beautiful they
are because of what there is, what it is they're

(08:12):
trying to help people find. God wants us to see
what is inside of us. He wants us to see
those traits, those attributes that He has placed so far
inside of us. He wants us to find happiness, not
because it's outside of us, because it is inside of us.

(08:33):
He wants us to see what is at our heart.
He wants us to see that too. He wants us
to see within each other what is at our heart?
What is inside our heart? What is that thing? That

(08:54):
that thing that He placed near our heart that will
only be activated with His love. And that's the thing
is is when we turn ourselves towards God's love, when
we move ourselves closer to His love, those talents that

(09:17):
He wants us to have surface and they becomes stronger.
But we have to move in towards His love. We
have to accept it fully into our being, into ourselves.

(09:38):
That's the whole thing. Until we decide that, until we
decide to accept his love and to turn and to
offer our love to him, there isn't a lot. Our

(10:04):
prayers are empty if we aren't opening our hearts to
his love. You want to know why you think sometimes
your prayers have gone unanswered. Don't ask why God is
forsaken you, ask why you have forsaken God. Don't ask

(10:38):
the question of why it isn't there, ask why it's there?
But you can't see it because it's there. Whatever it
is that you were looking for, it's right there in
front of you. You just have to be able to

(10:59):
accept God's love into your heart to find it. The
answer to most of our problems starts there. It starts
right there. We have a whole world of people that,

(11:22):
right at this moment in time, are so focused on
how they're going to make the next dollar, how they're
going to push capitalism forward, that a whole region of
people are being left behind. They're being left to starvation,

(11:47):
they're being left to brutality. That's something to think about.
That our society, at least the riches and the controlling
of our society, are so focused on what the next

(12:09):
great thing is that we've forgotten God, and with that,
we've forgotten the least of our brothers and sisters. You
think we're going to find peace, We think we're going

(12:34):
to find love, and we're going to find humanity. We're
going to find all of these wonderful positive things if
we don't open our hearts to the source of that positivity.

(12:58):
We have to open ourselves to that. We have to
open ourselves to God, let him in in order for
us to find what it is that we're looking for.
We want as a society. We want peace in the
Middle East. We want Palestine, Iran and Israel to to

(13:26):
coexist and to act as brother countries and sister countries
to remember their roots, that their faiths are based in
that of Abraham. That and along the streets of Palestine.
Did Jesus Christ walk those streets along with his disciples?

(13:50):
That the along with the streets of Palestine we're talking
about Samuel and David and Saw and all. We're all
existed within those places that land. Do you think we're
ever going to realize that until we stop trying to

(14:12):
figure out, Oh, who's going to own it? And relinquish
the fact that the ownership belongs to God. Relinquish the
fact that the ownership belongs to God, and share with

(14:32):
our brothers and sisters, including the least of our brothers
and sisters, the land, the food, the water, until we
learn to relinquish the ownership to that one being who

(14:56):
owns it all, who created it all. So we relinquish
that and allow His love into our hearts so that
we can find an equal place for each and every
one of us, each in every living being that exists

(15:18):
on planet Earth today. Until we do that, we're going
to find ourselves at stages of conflict. He's chosen those
of us to lead and help us find that guidance

(15:42):
to his love. He has placed the centers of that
love into our hearts, deep inside of us, so that
we can open ourselves to it. All we have to
do is decide to turn away from the idols, away

(16:03):
from the greed, and turn towards Him, and it will
all happen. There will be peace, and there will be sacrifice.

(16:25):
But with that sacrifice, that little bit that we have
to sacrifice, comes a great reward, So we should pray
for that reward. Lord, Help us to see those things
that you put inside of us, those things that lead

(16:48):
us to your love, that will turn us towards your glory,
your love, your way. Help us to relinquish the greed
and the selfishness so we can open ourselves to a

(17:11):
childlike existence where we share all of the wonderful things
you have done for us. Amen.
