Speaker 1 (00:32):
Listen to your father who gave you life. Do not
despise your mother when she is old by the truth,
and do not sell it wisdom, instruction and insight as well.
(00:56):
The father of a righteous child has great joy. A
man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. May
your father and mother rejoice, May she who gave you
(01:16):
birth be joyful. You know, Proverbs is a a really
good book of the Bible because it holds those those
wisdoms that we should have dear to our heart. And
(01:44):
a lot of it is is very spiritual, and we
should pay attention to it as that has a spiritual thing.
It is God trying to speak to us, to tell
us how we should live our life and how we
(02:08):
can have a joyful and wonderful life if we follow
some of the things that are presented in most of
the things, well, it's the word of God. We should
follow the word of God, long and short of it.
(02:32):
There's something else I do want to get at today,
and that is our faith and how divided, especially right
now today, we're extremely divided. We have these different factions
(02:56):
of Christian faith, we have different factions of Uh. What
what is the right way to follow? Judaism. We have
different factions of how the right way to to be
a a good Muslim. And one of the things that
(03:21):
the reason why I bring this up because women's respect
for for women in general is in question, and there
is no faith especially I'm only going to focus on
(03:45):
the those faith to find their way back to Abraham,
Sarah and Hagar. I'm only going to focus on on
those faiths because there may any other face and some
some of those faiths do well at their treatment of women,
(04:07):
and there are so many others that that are very
disrespectful and demeaning to uh, to women and to the
feminine being. So the reason why I brought this up
is because there was a social media post that was
(04:34):
addressing banning the Islamic practice of covering and they. The
question was asked, should the hey jab, the burka, and
other methods of women covering their hair or and or
(05:00):
covering their faces, should they be banned? Should they be
banned from public? And some of the comments that came
back as I was reading through it, I posted my
own comment. In my comment was that women should be
(05:20):
allowed to choose if they wished to cover themselves or not.
There the idea of covering of women. Covering themselves in
the presence of God does not solely lie in the
(05:43):
Islamic face. Is not a Muslim thing. It is a
Catholic thing, It is a Jewish thing. There are many
other faiths that lead back to Abraham that say, you
are supposed to cover yourself if you're a woman in
the presence of God. Well, how come if a for instance,
(06:10):
if a nun is walking down the street and she
has essentially what what would be her habit is essentially
that of what would be considered to be like a
hay jab, how come that isn't criticized. She nuns themselves
(06:37):
as women have given their their lives to God, and
with them giving their lives to God, they have decided
to cover their hair and to always wear long sleeves
and long skirted garments that where their headlines come basically
(06:59):
down to their to their feet. And many of these
sisterhoods and the nuns. Okay, why is that not coming
into question? Because why is it that, according to to
our public eye, that all Islamic women are forced into this. Now,
(07:24):
don't be totally understanding. God does not want us to
force anybody to dress a certain way or not to
dress a certain way. That is not there. There is
no no uh, there is no writing in scripture about
(07:45):
certain fashions are wrong or certain fashions are are are right.
There there is no right or wrong way of dressing. Period.
We're going to let's be perfectly clear about that. But
it is a matter of choice. And what is also
is stated in scripture that we should be modest. Well,
(08:09):
Modest isn't a style. Modest is a spiritual attitude. And
there's probably going to be a bunch of comments in
my inbox of when for me saying that, But it
is true that it is a spiritual addite. Modesty is
(08:33):
a spiritual attitude, and God wants us to be modest
in our spiritual attitude so that we are open to
everything else around us. If we stand I am always righteous,
we have closed ourselves off to the word of God itself.
(08:54):
That we have closed ourselves off to what God wants
us to learn in general, and we all know that
that is a definite bad thing to have happened. It
says that in here and Proverbs especially that that we
(09:23):
should look for the wisdom and instruction and insight that
is all around us that we should continue to absorb that.
It's said several times we should be childlike. Well, being
childlike means to continue to learn. As long as we
are sucking in breath and exhaling, that we should be learning.
(09:51):
That we should be continually to absorb knowledge from around us,
from other beings into our way of living. We shouldn't
just close ourselves off. I've learned enough, therefore I'm closing
myself off. No, it means that we should be continuing,
(10:13):
keep to keep learning, to keep bringing that joy of
learning into into our our into our very being, into
our spirit. So why why is it that if God
(10:37):
wants loves all faiths equally, why is it that certain
groups are saying that if you only follow my way,
that's the only way to be. That isn't that we
all should be finding our path back to God. We
(10:58):
should all be following our path. God will give us
that path. He will give it to us to a
conversation He only has with each of us individually, that
we should pray. We should devote part of our life
(11:24):
to learning what God has to say to us, to
listening to what God wants us to do, our task,
our purpose, that we should be dedicating our lives to that.
That is part of the wisdom that has talked about
(11:45):
in the Righteous Child. That we should be able to
recognize that as far as the feminine is concerned, that
that is also part of God. He did create the feminine.
(12:10):
He created women. He created women equal to men. He
did not create man to be so to rule over
women and to disrespect and and belittle women. We all
(12:36):
have our individual roles that we must play in life
in order to respect and love God. We should not
be sitting and condemning those and saying that we need
to ban things from our lives that we should be
(13:01):
The other one is, of course, along with with I
haven't really discussed this much today, but the other one
is is banning and burning of books. The more things
that we ban or we try to burn, the more
we are closing ourselves off from God. We should be
(13:23):
open and we should be learning from each other and
learning what our path is. When we listen to each other,
we are also listening to God. When we listen to
When we pray, we also should be listening to God.
(13:44):
He gives us answers in many different ways. We cannot
in order to find the answers that are coming from God.
We cannot turn over enough stones to find all of
the answers that He is giving us. We cannot flip
over enough, climb enough trees, or listen to enough of
(14:11):
the wind in order to hear everything that God has
to tell us. But we should always be listening as
listening as best we can, and not be closing off
anything that God puts in front of us. Listen to
(14:34):
all of God's creatures around us, all of our siblings
down through Abraham, so that we all hear the word
a message of God. It is delivered to us every
day in every aspect of our lives. Open yourself up, listen,
(15:00):
Listen with modesty, Listen with an open heart. Listen with wisdom,
the wisdom to know that you are truly hearing from
our heavenly Father. Lord. Help us to listen to you.
(15:23):
Help us to find our path to express our being
and our joy that you have given us life. Help
us to listen to your word and to listen to
you every day and every second of our lives. Help
(15:44):
us to absorb into our being the knowledge that you
want us to have. Help us to listen to the
wisdom the instructions and the insight that you you offer
every day. Amen
