New episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast is live! Happy RazzBowl 7!  This week, we dig into a wild mix of trade activity, prospect call-ups, and some concerning developments off the field. Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as MLB investigates gambling allegations, and Grey has his own conspiracy theory.

On the trade front, it was a flurry of moves with major fantasy implications. Josh Naylor heads to Seattle, but  will the power bounce back in T-Mobile Park? Ryan McMahon joins the Yankees and looks to slot in as their everyday third baseman. We break down the rest of the trades from the week and what it might mean, if it matters for your league.

Carson Wisenhunt and Hurston Waldrep are both getting called up, but are either worth a roster spot for your squad. We check in on the ever-changing closer landscape, and how trades might affect it.

Got a turn doh rap bo podcast?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Welcome back. It is the ras Ball Fantasy Baseball Podcast.
I am beat on, joined by the one, the only,
the Fantasy Master, Lithario Gray Albright. How's it going over there? Gray?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Hey man, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Happy Rasball Day? At least for those of us that
celebrate it. I know, I know you're not really among
those of us that are on the fantasy football side,
but still it is Rasball Day. Drafts have started. I
am still waiting to make my first pick. I'm on
the the intern, so we will wait and see. How
about that?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, I have people reaching out to me about the
ras boll and I ford them on I have no
I have no idea. People like, well, DM me like,
hey man, I can't make a pick? Could you pick
for me? And I'm like, no, No, I can't do that.

(02:09):
This is not our cl I wanted two.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I couldn't.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Like. I feel like that's against the rules, like betting
on Major League Baseball games if you're a player.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, the league has never looked kindly on that, Gray.
I think there's maybe a certain hits leader they got
in trouble for that, and then you know, a bunch
of other stuff along the way just keeps getting there.
But yes, in this regard, Emmanuel class A has been
placed on nondisciplinary leave through at least August thirty first,

(02:46):
along with Luisa Ortiz, while MLB is investigating gambling charges.
I believe Devin Williams and Seth Pulverson are also joining
this investigation to help explain some of their terrible outings
this year help their future value. But what what what
do you got here? Gray Man?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I H I wish I would have known that Emmanuel
class A was being terrible in April for a specific
reason that would have made buying him in a trade
so much better. When I everyone was like, oh, Emmanuel
class A is uh, he's terrible now he he can't

(03:33):
pitch anymore in April, and then it was like, wow,
he suddenly got so much better in May. It's really hmm,
I wonder how that happened.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I think at some point we said, like on the podcast,
like the numbers all look good. I don't know what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah exactly. It's like people people look
at my advice and they're like, oh, yeah, you said
to uh sell class A because he was no longer

(04:12):
any good and then he became good again. It's like, yeah,
but I didn't really have all the information. I was
slightly short of information when it came to why class
A was not good. Yeah. Man, I you know, this
is like this is so crazy because this feels like

(04:34):
like on the outside, like there's a couple of things
that could be going on. It could have been like,
you know, the entire Guardians. It's like Guardians of the
Parlay and you have all these all these Guardian pictures
who actually are on the side drafted. They're working for DraftKings,
use promo code Guardians. Uh, It's like they could be

(04:59):
just all all possibly in cahoots here or it was like,
you know, Emmanuel class A was like the basically the
mafia don and yeah, and Luis Ortiz was nothing more

(05:23):
than like the Henry Hill here, the uh, the snitch
who ratted out class A. I mean, it might it
might end here, it might go throughout the whole, it
might be the whole rotation. I don't know, man, It's
like so crazy because it doesn't feel like this is
just gonna be the tip of the iceberg, right, I

(05:45):
mean it feel it feels like, excuse me, it feels
like this is the tip of the iceberg, that this
is gonna go. This is gonna become a bigger, larger
issue it as quickly as MLB ken sweep it under
the rug. I'm sure they will try to at least,
but yeah, this this is like, I mean, this feels

(06:08):
like the beginning of a really huge issue where I
don't know, man, I wonder if MLB has truly I mean,
if they if MLB and the Players Association get on
the same page with which bets to allow, because I

(06:30):
do feel like micro bets, which is why Luis Ortiz
was in trouble, and what I'm assuming is why Emmanuel
class is in trouble.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
I don't know that for a fact yet on the
class A thing. As we record this it's Monday, but
I believe it's probably going to turn out to be
micro bets, which is basically everyone betting on whether.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Or not a guy is going to throw a ball
or strike for you know, the first pitch of an
inning or you know, or the first pitch of the
half inning or whatever.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
So if that's the case, I feel like MLB, I
don't know, I doubt anyone does this. But it's like
MLB and the Players Association can just get on the
same page and say, like, no more micro bets, Like
you can bet on baseball, but you can't bet on
whether or not a guy's gonna throw a strike because

(07:24):
that is so easily you know, exploited by a player
that like in No, I don't know if any other
sport is that easy for a player to be able
to do, you know, something nefarious where And I don't
even know. Also, like I don't know if Emmanuel class A,

(07:45):
Like I'm assuming Luis Ortiz and Emmanuel class A acted alone,
but we don't even know that for a fact. I mean,
we all we know is you know, at least with
Luis Ortiz, we know is that it's they're investigating him
for you know, a throwing a pitch out of the

(08:05):
strike zone. What we don't know is if it goes
any deeper than that, like, you know, if there is
you know, they're both Dominicans, and if there is a
you know, if there's like a a criminal enterprise, say
in the Dominican Republic that happened to you know, like

(08:26):
David Ortiz, who was you know, the pride of the
Dominican and he was even you know, shot at when
he was down there. So if like someone is in
you know, taking class as like you know, cousin or
Luis Ortiz's or Luis Ortiz's sister, they're pulling them aside

(08:47):
and they're like, hey, I'm gonna murder you if your
brother doesn't throw a ball in the dirt. I mean,
we don't know if that's the case. Obviously I'm just
doing conjecture, But you don't know how like how deep
the runs. It could potentially be a situation where these
guys are not necessarily like have a situation where they're benefiting,

(09:10):
you know, like it's not like like I think the
assumption is it's like Emmanuel class A puts on a
fake mustache and goes up to the casino window and
places a fifty thousand dollars bet. We don't know if
that's the case at all, Like it could be someone
has is holding, like you know, their family for ransom,

(09:31):
or they their whold, or they're threatening they're threatening them
with murder and they're like, hey, man, if you don't
throw a ball in the dirt, we're gonna kill someone
in your family. Like that could be what's going on.
We have no idea, and I don't think MLB is
ever going to get to the bottom of it, Like
they're just going to see a guy who happens to

(09:52):
like throw a ball in the dirt and be like, well,
I guess he was, you know, gambling. We can't find
receipts of that gambling, but it's it seems like he
was doing something illegal, Like we don't, you know, I
don't know, Like I don't know if they're ever gonna
like I don't I wouldn't trust MLB to investigate this
though and try and figure it out. I'm reminded of

(10:14):
you know, a rod when he got busted for steroids.
They were going after him at MLB. That is, they
were going after him and they were using a guy
who was blackmailing him down in Florida. I forget the
guy's name who was blackmailing them, but they were using

(10:35):
basically a blackmailer to get a rod because they wanted
to quote unquote clean up the sport for Bud Selig
to look good. As he went out the door and
Rob Manfred came in, So you know, I don't put
anything past MLB on their investigations and how like they're
going to try and make MLB look as good as

(10:58):
they can possibly look. And if that means means you know,
stopping the investigation at Class A and Luis Ortiz and
that's where they're going to stop the investigation. And I
don't I don't know if like, because there's been a
lot of players who have come out and said like, hey,
I've gotten death threats because of people gambling. You know,
I think uh Lucas Gilido said this and other players

(11:22):
have come out and said that, So like, I I
woant to be shocked if like there's people who are
looking at Emmanual Class A and have a like, if
a criminal organization is able to get to his family
and be like, hey man, throw the ball in the
dirt or we're gonna kill somebody, what's he gonna do.
I mean, there's and there's no way of saying like, oh,

(11:43):
that's what was going on. It's like, even if he
says that, what's MLB gonna say like, oh, well, we're
putting players' lives at danger. So you know, this is
a bigger issue than a manual Class A. No, of
course we're not going to say that MLB is going
to be like, well, class A gambling. So he's suspended
for life and let's move on. So anyway, pick up

(12:08):
Kate Smith for your fantasy league.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, so that's this has been baseball criminal minds. Thank
you for listening. Well, we'll get back to fantasy.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
There's a trade. A trade just oh, beat on, you
actually just got traded to true crime junkies. Wow, oh
my god, this is crazy. What do we do if
you get traded?

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (12:39):
I don't know what this we is.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
If I get traded, it's just it's just you thing.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Oh yeah, because this becomes fantasy baseball slash conspiracy theories.
There you go, everybody.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Gray will talk to himself for an hour and a half,
and I believe me, he won't even notice that I'm
gone for at least a few shows.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Like another thing is shocking. Jeff Pisson just said be
Don was traded to the Crue Junkies. Wow, Wow, it
was really Honestly, I think I thought we had a
great run.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
You know, we we've made it longer than any other
rasball podcast Perry and Gray. It could only go on
for so long. Uh, you know, the the Tim Donnie
of of baseball is gonna come out. So we're just
gonna see how how this, how this goes moving forward.
But yeah, I think it's Kate Smith as the replacement.

(13:40):
Hunter Gaddis and Nick en Wright have also been pretty good.
Uh so they could go in a few different directions
in regards to the reliever. Let's move on to some
trades Gray. Let's let's get into some fantasy baseball stuff.
Josh Naylor was traded to Seattle for Brandon Garcia and
Ashton Isy. In ninety three games, Naylor has eleven home

(14:04):
runs eleven stone bases. He's sitting in two ninety two,
three sixty four, forty seven. His home run. The fly
ball last year was the career best at eighteen point six.
This year it is nine point six in Arizona. What's
if I put the over under a nine point six,
which is what he's been doing all season for Seattle Gray,

(14:26):
Are you taking the over or the under.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Under? Yeah, you know, I don't know. I'm I'm a
little bit concerned about anyone going to the Mariners, right because,
like I mean, cal cal Rawley has become the exception
that proves the rule. Whatever that idiot means. I don't
actually know, but I mean cal Rawley seems like he's

(14:55):
been T mobile proof. We'll say, Julio Rodriguez has moments
where he seems like he can hit the ball out
of the park a few few and far between. Rosa
has been okay, it's uh yeah, yeah, one month the season, right,

(15:15):
Jay Rod's been pretty solid in September of seasons. You know,
I mean, I looked up the park factors and it
doesn't I mean, this is an anecdotal. T mobile is
not good for power.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
It's just not.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Josh Naylor, for whatever reason, he seemed to become a
different hitter this year. I don't know why. I'm not
I'm not one hundred percent sure. Not not bad necessarily.
I mean he has like he has become more like
Freddie Freeman than Freddie Freeman quite frankly, but he's become

(15:57):
more Freddie Freeman than he was previous years now, Like
he's become this like fifteen to twenty homer, fifteen to
twenty steel, low strikeouts, great average. He's hitting two ninety two.
He has eleven homers, fourteen steals as of recording of this.

(16:19):
I you know, I think this weekend, his first weekend
with the Mariners, I believe he stole I want to say,
three bags this weekend. I mean, it's just like it's
kind of absurd what he's doing this year. It's nothing
like we've seen from him before. I don't see how
that's gonna change in Seattle, because the you know, the
park alone leads me to believe that, you know, the

(16:42):
best case scenario here for Nailor is him becoming you know,
you know, a better average hitter with steels and just
totally you know, foregoing power. I guess I don't know
why this is Like nothing in his numbers really leading
into this year really stands out as it being like, oh, okay,

(17:05):
so this is always who he was, and you know
he's just now showing it now. Not really, I mean
his you know, his fly balls are relatively the same
as previous years, his line drives are relatively the same
as ground balls, his hard hit I don't know. I
don't know really where this is coming. I mean, there
is a case to be made that anyone, you know,

(17:28):
I say in the preseason, I believe I call it
the pitch clock twelve, which is because of the pitch clock,
anyone can add twelve steals to their bottom line because
of the pitch clock. So you know, he's added some speed.
I don't know if he's necessarily faster. He doesn't look it.
He's like if you see him running, he doesn't seem

(17:50):
like a fast guy. But he's added steals just because
it seems like he wants to run. He wants to
steal bags for whatever reason. I'm not exactly sure why.
But yeah, I mean the numbers at the end of
the day, like his numbers seem to be top five
ish first Basement, even maybe a top three first Basement

(18:12):
because First Basement are just so bad after Nick Kurtz obviously, Yeah,
so you know, Josh Naylor has been fine. He's just
not really the guy I think you expected when you
drafted him.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yeah, no, I agree, it's it's been a little a
little different in regards to what you've gotten from him. Still,
you know, it's not been unuseful, but it's been it's
been different. He is very slow. I mean, I to
your point, I don't know exactly where the steals come from.
He is fifteenth from the bottom of the sprint speed rankings,

(18:54):
so just the bottom of the bottom in regards to
these steals, which really just shows you it doesn't matter.
Anybody can steal bases apparently, And yeah, I mean with
the with the clock, plus the limited throwovers, it has
become a lot easier. Fourteen steals now is crazy. I mean,

(19:17):
it's his career high by four, and it's kind of weird.
It is a terrible park. It's the worst park ballpark
back factor for lefties. It's not quite as bad on
home runs strictly, but as an overall ballpark factor, it's
it's at the bottom just as bad as you get.

(19:39):
So yeah, I don't love this move. Great, but again,
I don't know what you can really do at first
base because it's been it's been a little bit ugly,
and there's not a whole lot out there on the wire,
you know, I guess would you take let me let
me see if I can come up with some names.
If you're looking at Naylor on your team, would you
really have Naylor of season or since you brought him up?

(20:02):
Freddy Freeman?

Speaker 1 (20:06):
I would go Naylor, okay?

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Uh Naylor?

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Or Matt Olsen m I'd go Matt Olson okay. So
it feels like.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
He's definitely dropping a few spots at least per the
Player Raider by just moving to Seattle.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Yeah, I think so. I think it's probably Nick Kurtz.
I mean, who's going who's above Nick Kurtz? At this point,
Nick Kurtz had had like a full season's worth of
Freddy Freeman's stats in one game on Friday, right, I mean,
who's going Nick Kurtz, Scosh Naylor, Freddie Freeman? Is there

(20:48):
anyone a missing? I don't think so, is there?

Speaker 2 (20:53):
No? I mean the people above Kurtz right now on
the on the player Rader or Alonzo Pellinger and Glad.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
Right Lad, Lad's in there?

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Yeah? No, Actually, i'd probably put Pete Alonzo above Matt Olsen. Uh, yeah,
I'd probably say Kurtz, Peter Alonzo, Matt Olson, Nailer, Flad
Freeman off the Yeah, I mean off the top of
my head. That sounds about right.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Yeah, I mean i'd have Freeman lower. I'd probably have
like Bellinger, as I mentioned, should be up there, Michael Bush, Torkleson.
But Torkelsen is a specific kind of kind of bad.
Same with Matt Olsen. Michael Bush has been awesome. I
have no problem taking him over Freeman.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
But yeah, I mean, yeah, Freeman's really fallen.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
He's been just tanked. I mean yeah, he's.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Really been terrible. I am just looking at the player rader. Now, yeah,
he's he's been really bad and after them, but some
people did, I guess.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yeah, And there's definitely possibilities that he's going to get
some days off down the strets, So even more reason
not to initially have Freeman ranked high rest of season.
Bryce Harper also obviously among the first baseman.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Tanked.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Yeah, he's tanked as well, but I would still put
him high for we're just looking the rest of the
season because of what he could do in a week.
Just like Kurtz has done in a weekend, Tristan English
to take over at first base in Arizona. Foll in
this move Gray. He has eleven home runs, he's sitting
three forty one and TRIPLEA. That sounds interesting, but are
you interested? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:42):
No, that does sound interesting. Yeah, I mean he seems
like he's made contact for the last few years. He
is older, though, I mean it's not I don't even
know if we could chalk this up to being like, oh,
he lost the twenty twenty pandemic season and that's why
he's someone He looks like a quad A player, like

(23:03):
he legitimate looked. He looks like he's probably at best
have Pavin Smith with like maybe I don't know. I
mean his it's hard to know what you're gonna get
out of his average because Tristan English that is because
I mean he was hitting for a good average. But

(23:24):
he's also twenty eight years old in triple A. Uh
so maybe he might only be like a two point
fifty hitter in the majors. I mean, he looks like
he can make contact, but it depends on what the
ball is gonna do. Yeah, I'd say it best and
l only and even there it's like it depends on needs.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Really, yeah, I mean it's it doesn't look like there's
a whole lot in his package. A little bit of
power and good contact. But as you mentioned, he's twenty
eight years old. He's old. Even with that twenty twenty
season that we give people like he's still old. He
should have he should not have been spending three years

(24:06):
in Triple A. It definitely does feel like quad a
bat there, But you know, only I take a look
and maybe in a deep fifteen team league, it's it's
worth a possibility because he was hitting at least for
a high average. But that's that really doesn't mean a
whole lot. At twenty eight years old, Triple A Ryan

(24:29):
McMahon goes to the Yankees. They send Griffin Herring and
Josh Gross to Colorado. Just what Colora needs, just more
arms that'll probably not work out. That's that's always awesome
for the pitchers. Roy Y McMahon should slot in every
day as an every day third basement for the Yankees.
Probably hit six to eight most days. Would you say

(24:50):
that his value is up and down about the same.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Well, you never know what. I'm just gonna briefly look
at Ryan McMahon's splits. Oh my god, what is that.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
I'm I'm sure someone in the Yankees organization look to
see what Ryan McMahon has done in away games in
his career, because oh, it's not good.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yeah. I think the Yankees probably got him for his glove,
which is fine, but I don't think for fantasy this
is a great move for him, even even if Yankee
Stadium is probably one of the better landing spots he
could end up at, you know, with Aaron Judge out
for you know, ten days to two weeks, depending on

(25:42):
how you know his elbow recovers. You know, once he's back,
the lineup is better obviously for the Yankees than the Rockies,
but the park is a little bit worse. Clearly, Ryan
McMahon always had a little bit of an issue with
a away games with his bat. There's a little bit

(26:03):
you could chalk that up a little bit to the
fact that every hitter is usually a little bit worse
in away games. So, you know, Ryan mcmanhon will probably
be okay. I wouldn't expect, you know, great things, but
for al only, Yeah, it's probably, I mean, it's obviously
you have to you bid on him for mix leagues.

(26:28):
I think he's probably fifteen team mix league or deeper.
I don't really see the twelve team mix league for
him at this point unless he gets hot, which you know,
I mean, I think he's been okay since he's been
with the Yankees. But yeah, small sample size, so it
doesn't really mean much. Yeah, I'm not I don't really

(26:50):
think there's a great move for his fantasy value, but
maybe not as terrible as people think. But you know, it's,
like I said, still deep, deep mix leagues and an
ale only Other than that, eh, yeah, I'll.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Give you the home road splits here in just a second.
But I will say there is something to leaving cores
as well, because you don't have to deal with seeing
balls like move different at home than they do on
the road, like because of the air there. The ball
literally moves different there than anywhere else. So it's it's
also kind of a neutralizing thing. He's probably not a

(27:32):
one eight nine, but he's also probably not two fifty
seven eleven home runs at home five on the road.
The power maybe a little bit where he's gonna lose
some some but Yankee Stadium is great if he can
just yank it down the line, so we'll see. In
regards to the power, I kind of feel like this

(27:54):
just kind of meets him in the middle to where
he already is a little bit. It just makes him
a little less, you know, peaks and valleys.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yeah, that's probably true. He's probably becomes a two twenty
five hitter more or less in and out of Yankee Stadium.
You know, it's fine. I mean maybe two fifteen away,
two thirty five at home. Is he always had his issues,
to be honest, for sure.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
I mean he's definitely not a perfect player. It wasn't
trade season, we probably wouldn't be spending this much time
on him. So let's move on Gray. It seems like
orleandor he is taking over for him at third base
warming Bernabelle, I hope I got that right. I'm sure
I did not. I apologize was called up as the
corresponding roster move when McMahon left. Jan kill Fernandez has

(28:47):
also seen some more time at d H. Warming was
hitting and he was hitting three on one with eight runs,
five stolen bases, fourteen strikeout, fourteen percent walkers. And then
Jan Kio was hitting two eighty four with thirteen home runs. Yeah,

(29:08):
what are your thoughts in these three, you know, kind
of replacement pieces as we see Colorado shift into we
really really don't care mode for the rest.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Of the season. I like how the uh I like
when a team trades away one guy and somehow they
they they grow three new guys, like a gremlin situation. Yeah, yeah,
who fed Ryan McMahon after midnight? And why do we
now have a worming Barnabelle on our team? Yeah? They're

(29:44):
all kind of effy. I mean, worming Barnabell hit a
homer on Sunday and his you know, he looks like
he makes good contact. So I'm actually a little bit
interested in him. Not quite for Mixed League yet, So
still we're looking. We're looking at and now only Orlando

(30:05):
Rcia feels like I mean that, that feels like a
guy from like the Bud Black, Like like Bud Black
rode on a notepad somewhere in the Rockies clubhouse. That
like you must play terrible vets. I don't know why.
I don't know why r is even on the team,
Like not only should he not be on the team,

(30:27):
like he should have been DFAD and playing in Korea
by now, Like why, like what is he doing. But
not only is he on the team, but he's starting
for the Rockies. So yeah, I don't know, man, It's
just it's just terrible because Warming Barnabel can play third too,
so it's like, why would R see you play third?

(30:47):
I don't know. I also, you know, speaking of the Rockies,
I saw Michael Taglia. I dropped him when he went
to the minors like a month month. They're six weeks ago.
I dropped him in an an now only league and
I and then he came back and I was kicking
myself because he had that really hot like stretch. When

(31:09):
he first came back, he hit like I think he
hit like three or four homers that first week. But
now he's like one for fifty. So whoever picked him up,
you're welcome, enjoin the experience.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
That has been my Michael Toggley experience as somebody who
owned owns him in dynasty leagues. Uh yeah, that's that's
basically what Michael toglia has looked like. But when he
looks good gray, he looks, he looks really good, So
you know, there's there's that going for him. And yes,
I don't know why Orleandoorsi is still playing and specifically

(31:48):
why he's playing every day for a team not playing
for anything. Yeah, it's like it just it doesn't make
a lot of sense. I'm not really interested.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
But it was like it's like you would think like
the Rockies are clearly there's a void at the top
of the organization where they were the Montforts, where Dick
mon Ford, and like it's it's basically, the owner is
Dick Montfort, and he has like seventeen terrible sons right

(32:19):
underneath him. Imagine a pyramid. It's Dick Montfort, then seventeen
terrible Sons, then underneath that is the actual team. But
it doesn't seem like anything. Is like, maybe I'm wrong,
but I don't think like the mont Forts, I don't
think they're really that like involved in the day to

(32:40):
day organization. So if you're Warner Jay Shafer, the new
Rockies manager, that's a good trivia question. If you're Warner
Jay Shafer and you're like, hey man, no one's paying attention.
I can do whatever I want. Wouldn't you try and
do something.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
That was good?

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Would you do or Lando Orcia? No one's paying No,
one's like, hey man, you have to play Orland or Sea.
I can't imagine Dick Momford is saying that. So I'm
guessing Warren J. Schaeffer is like, oh, yeah, this is
a good idea. I'm gonna do something real smart and
put in a guy who shouldn't even be in the
major leagues anymore and start him. I'm gonna start him.

(33:25):
That's what I'm gonna do. Eh.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Anyway, Yeah, when you can get a guy who hits
one sixty three, you gotta you gotta play him all
the time. Gray, That's just what you gotta do. Obviously.
Let's let's move on to the next trade here. I've
ed Rosario moves from Washington to the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
Yeah, I mean this is I don't actually think your
trade to true crime junkies might have been the biggest
trade of the day.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
I mean we should have just kept going with that, Gray,
I think that was more interesting. Uh, the theory baseball podcast,
I think we might actually have something there for a while.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Now, I'm saying Manuel's family member. I'm just saying it
could be true. Yeah, we spent a good amount of
time on that conspiracy theory.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
But am Madmazario. He's just a utility in fielder. Not
much has changed here, right Gray, No, no, no, the.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
There's a there's a meme. Uh it's a it's like
a picture of a record player and it says is broke,
but uh, it won't cost you much to try and fix.
And that's what That's what the Yankees seem to be
doing with her. Uh with their trade so far. I

(34:53):
don't know what the Yankees think they're doing, but it's
a little weird when it's like, oh, yeah, we're the
New York Yankee, come on down and see the team play.
We now have a mod Rosario, right, Like what is that? Like?
What what? It's terrible? I don't know, man, Yeah, ma,

(35:16):
Rosario is a I mean, I guess the Yankees felt
like they needed defense. So I mean he's a uh,
he's a utility player. I don't even see him having
much value in a AL only league. So yeah, yeah,
maybe the.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Yankees just decided they weren't gonna spend since Aaron Johnes
is hurt, and this is just their their way of
appeasing the fans by doing these minor little trades. That's
the Cups general game plan in everything.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
So, maybe the Yankees are just learning from the cups
on how to just kind of drag along your fans.
All the Eggs has been pretty good at it since
two thousands, just dragging people along.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
And I will say it's uh. We're recording this on Monday,
July twenty eighth, so you know, big trades could still happen.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Oh yeah, we definitely could see a few more happen,
and we'll cover them next week if they do. Moving on,
Randall Gritchick goes to the Royals. He's hitting two forty
this year with seven home runs, may not have a
full time role. I don't think there's a whole lot
here Gray, What about.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
You, Random Greed Chick?

Speaker 3 (36:31):
No, I don't.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
The only thing I really know about Randall Green See
I try and keep one little factoid about every player
so this way I can make a joke about them.
And the only thing I know about Randall Greedchick is
he was the guy who was mad that his teammates
were bat flipping. So that's all I really know about

(36:53):
random Greenchick. So I don't know. Maybe, you know, if
Finnie Pascatino is doing a little too much batflop, we
could we could have a situation. But yeah, I don't
think rand Grichick is really much for fantasy.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Yeah, can have Vun Gray around Randall Grizchik. Obviously that's
not what the game is for. Oh. I think the
I think the actual maybe interesting part of this is
it opens up DH for Adrian Del Castillo, who likely
has catcher eligibility in your league. In twenty eight games,
he has seven home runs two ninety nine four to

(37:29):
twelve six oh seven in the minors. I mean, he
does have some legitimate power if he kind of just
get on a roll here and he gets every day
d H time.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Uh yeah, Adrian del Castillo. Yeah, uh huh, I agree.
I think he's Uh. I mean it's good because he
has catch your eligibility. Really yeah, that's that's why we're
talking about a d C. It's easy. Yeah, it's he's fine.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
I I think.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
He's probably like two catcher, a second catcher in a
fifteen team mix league. I would I would be I
would be happy to have him there. In a twelve
team mix league with one catcher, you're pushing, you're pushing
it to try and make him a thing.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Yeah, absolutely, twelve team two catcher. I could see giving
him a try if he's gonna play every day like
he has man, but that's that's strictly based on playing time.
Adam Frasier moving on to the Royals two, He's has
three home runs, seven stone bases. He's hitting two fifty

(38:41):
five this year. Probably does have a full time job
for now. What are your thoughts? Is this is anything
outside of ale only? No? What about I.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Don't even know if he's ale only though. I mean
maybe if you're really like desperate, I guess it's not.
It's not great though, I'll be honest, your team has
not gotten better if you needed Adam Fraser for your
am I So, yeah, there's that there.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
There is definitely that he could be second base. Second
base is pretty pretty hideous, even in a mixed league.
But yes, probably not helping. How about Lever Paguero, who
is recalled as the corresponding moved to Fraser moving on
any interest in Paguero?

Speaker 1 (39:31):
No, not really. Yeah, I also I would say, uh, yeah,
I mean there's a chance that like his role becomes
you know, for NL only. Okay, sure, there's uh it's
also I mean it's kind of like every year Adam

(39:54):
Fraser spends some time with the Pirates, so it's kind
of it's kind of sad to see him go. I'm
sure for Pittsburgh fans anyway, Piguero, I mean right now,
like it looks like the Pirates are selling, which they
should be. So if Tommy fam is out the door

(40:14):
or Nick Nozalees or even you know, O'Neil Cruz or
one of the bigger names or I mean, I guess
that's their only big name really, But if someone leaves,
maybe poguer gets more of a playing time situation, so
then he becomes a little bit more interesting. But I
mean even then, I mean it's not not a lot.

(40:37):
I mean, he doesn't make great contact. He has some power,
a little bit of speed, so you know, power and
speed plays. So if he gets a bigger job for
NL only, great. Right now, I don't even think he's
NL only though, Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Gregor Soto goes to the Mets. That doesn't really do
anything as he joins the bullpen and just he's not
gonna be closing. He's probably third or fourth line, so
nothing really to do there. Chris Paddock moves to Tigers.
That was a move that happened right before we started
the podcast. Great. I mean he should in theory join

(41:16):
the rotation, but is that something that you're interested in.
He did have one phenomenal month this year and the
rest has been awful. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
No, I'm like, I mean, he's not even like Ale,
only he's probably already rostered because he's not switching league.
So I don't really see him really valuable at all
for a mixed league. I mean maybe in a streaming
situation if he had like two good matchups in a week, possibly,

(41:50):
if you're looking for a two start guy, But other
than that, I wouldn't mess with him in a mixed league.
I mean, he hasn't been good for some time now.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
No, he is not. Like I said, it had one
really strong month where you were like, is Chris Paddock
really really back, And just as you were about to
buy in and say yes he was, he was not.
So you will we will just let him sit there,
like you said, if you get the right two star
or you go up against the Rockies not in cores,

(42:25):
that's fine, but not a whole lot of use there.
Carson Wizzon Hunt was called up by San Francisco. As
we move on from trades into call ups, Gray are
you interested in Carson wizding Hunt in Triple A this year,
he had eighty two innings, four seven eighty ear, a
one five whip, twenty one point nine percent strikeout rate,
in a twelve point eight percent walk rate. Sorry, that

(42:49):
is the wrong guy. I gave the wrong stats. Carson
Winston had a four four two ERA with a one
three three ERA or with one three three whip with
twenty one strikeout, twenty one percent strikeouts and a six
point eight percent walkout walk rate. Sorry, that was that
was wrong.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
That was wrong as well.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Now that that was right, I'm sorry I messed up
the first time.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Okay, Yeah, Carson wizen Hunt, I you know, I look
at his numbers and I feel like at some point
he sort of fell off the map when it came
to being a highly touted prospect, like even looking at
past a prospect post from Itch like he was. He

(43:36):
wrote him up in twenty twenty four, and then at
some point in like the last year Wes and Hunt
just hasn't been able to put it together. And and
by putting together, I mean I don't think his command
has really been there. I think that's been his biggest
problem and command for a rookie, is like, that's like

(43:56):
the worst possible scenario because like he's already gonna struggle
with nerves and possibly and leading that to bad command.
And then you're throwing a guy who already has bad command,
and it's just it could really spell disaster. So I'm
not interested. But I I'm interested. Well, I'll say I'm

(44:16):
interested enough to watch. I want to see him pitch.
I'm excited about like what he could do. His supposedly
is he's got like a bugs Bunny change up that's
just completely nasty that I would like to see. But
am I gonna pick him up? No, I'm probably not
pick him up in mixed leagues at least yet. I mean,

(44:36):
if he looks really that good in his first start
and he stays in the rotation, then yeah, I mean
then the Giants do have a spot for wizard Hunt
to possibly stay. So yeah, I'm interested enough to watch
and maybe if he looks good, maybe pick him up
after or going forward. But as of right second, when

(45:00):
he hasn't pitched yet in the majors and his numbers
look so scary from his minor league numbers, like it
looks like he can strike out people, but he does
not look like he knows where the strike zone is,
so that's a real big concern. So I'm I'm gonna watch,
I'm gonna see. Maybe we'll see what happens, but right now,

(45:20):
I'm not picking them up in mixed leagues, and I'll
only you do what you have to do.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
Yeah, I mean, I don't have the prospect knowledge that
Itch has. But just kind of looking through the numbers,
it really seems like this year in particular, they were like,
you have to get the walks down, and so that's
what he's done. But that came with the case coming
way down because before this he was a very high
strikeout person in the pitcher. This year it's it's dropped dramatically.

(45:48):
The walk rate has come down with it, which is great,
but it seems like they really focused him on that.
They were really trying to find him a third pitch,
because as you mentioned, he is primary change up. He
throws a sing thinker sinker change moved the same direction.
I can see why they would want a third pitch
for him, but sometimes that third pitch takes some time

(46:09):
to figure out, especially when it's opposite of everything that
you throw. So I'm interested in him just to see
what it looks like, but probably not grabbing him outside
of it only as you mentioned, and even then spots
start and let's see how this looks. The numbers I

(46:29):
gave you previously were for Hurston Waldrip, who was being
called up by the Braves. He is a fastball, slider,
splitter guy. This year, if you didn't remember numbers, he
had a four seventy eighty or a one to five
to two whip, twenty one point nine percent strikeout rate,
a twelve point eight percent walk rate. He's getting I believe,

(46:50):
the start today. But the Braves also picked up Eric Fetti,
who was DFA by Saint Louis, And the Braves also
added Dane Dunny, who I believe is going to the
bullpen but has been a starter in the past. What
are your thoughts on Hurston Waldrop and Eric Fetti joining
the Braves rotation.

Speaker 1 (47:09):
Yeah, the Braves also added Carlos Carrasco. No, that's not
a joke. They really don't.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
They really did.

Speaker 1 (47:17):
They were really adding, Yeah they had Carlo.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
I didn't even know his arm was still attached.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
Ray Yeah, yeah, no, I know, yeah, No, And they uh,
they they.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
Added also Tom Clavin. Uh no, they they they don't.
I don't know what the Braves are doing necessarily, and
but on the brain side, I don't think they know either,
so it's kind of whatever. I yeah, I saw a Woldrop.

(47:52):
Actually I think I had him in an N only league,
and I don't know if I dropped him or maybe
I still have him. But I wouldn't even start him,
and not only until like you know, until he until
he showed us something, because he's another guy where his
command just looks like a total mess as well, and
he doesn't like, you know, like I know, Jacob Mizowski's

(48:17):
command was a bit of an issue when he was
in the minors, but he sort of figured that out
when he was still in the minors. These guys don't
seem like well you mentioned wasn't hurt, It wasn't. Hunts
command looked a little bit better this year, but but
Waldrop's command still looks like a mess. So I don't
know where this is going. I would be shocked if

(48:39):
Waldrop succeeds outside of maybe a lucky start or two. Uh,
But yeah, I would not mess with him now, not
at least in mixed leagues. I mean watched and see it.
Maybe maybe he's figured something out. Maybe the Braves coaches
can you know, figure out something with his stuff. But yeah,

(49:02):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
Man, he doesn't. He doesn't look like he's ready for
the major leagues.

Speaker 2 (49:07):
You know, Gray, I was really I'm gonna lose a
bet that you you were gonna say to you to
sot this podcast. Now I'm just you know, I got
to pay that out.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
Now. Good news is uh in a day that has
been really bad for a class A, he did win
five dollars from be Don because I didn't mention.

Speaker 2 (49:31):
Yep, that that my job changed over over to crime.
It's it's a big it's a big news day. Gray.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Welcome back to true Crime Junkies with let's move over
and sagged off it up.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
Gray, Let's talk about it trade edition real quick before
we jump into some of these situations. Who are some
of the trade candidates that you would potentially either you know,
be looking to move before they get traded, or or
that you would maybe hold off a week on trading
four until the trade deadline passes.

Speaker 1 (50:09):
I don't I don't know if that's a feasible strategy
to try and trade a closer who everyone knows is
about to get traded. But I guess Ryan Helsley, Fairbanks,
Bednar Uh. They seem like they're guys that are on
the move. The Oreos currently have no trade. No excuse me,

(50:29):
no no closer. Uh, Sir Anthony Domingos, I think is
closing for the Oreos right now, or at least the
favorite too. If I were the Oreos, I would trade
Dimingos too.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
Uh. You know.

Speaker 1 (50:42):
I I think any team like you look at the Marlins,
I would trade you know, whoever wanted anyone I was
talking to.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
I was talking to Craig miss this weekend on his
show on Saturday, and I was saying, like, uh, is
you know? I asked him if Sandy was getting traded,
and then he was saying that, you know what's called
the bullpen. Any of the guys are really available there
for a trade, and you know to that, I'll say,

(51:13):
I feel like any non contenders bullpen is really up
for grabs. So anyone who you know, if a role
as chairman didn't get hurt on Sunday, I would say
he probably was up for grabs. Anyone in the Marlins
up for grabs, anyone in the Rangers. And you know,
I'm not going to go through every team, but every
non contender probably they're closers up for grabs, you know,

(51:38):
barring very few guys. So it look at like getting
you know, That's how I sort of lucked into Kate
Smith in our RCL league. I picked up Kate Smith
on on Saturday, not because I am class A's bookie,
but because I knew class was on the trade market

(52:02):
the trade. That trade ain't happening, by the way. But
I picked up Kate Smith as you know, just a
flyer because I figured, you know, he could become the
closer in Cleveland. And so I would, you know, if
you're out there looking to grab a closer right now,
I would try and get like Phil Maton, maybe behind Hellsley,

(52:23):
that is, you know, maybe Edwin Useeda, maybe Dennis Santana.
I would just take a flyer on a guy. You know,
I don't know, if it's never clear who it is
definitely getting traded. I mean, some of these guys sound
like they're getting traded. They might not, who knows, but

(52:44):
I would guess Helsley's moving. I would guess ben Nor's moving,
but you know, you never know.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
Yeah, I mean, as Johann Durant ever not been rumored
to be traded and in place. Yeah, I mean, I
would assume he's getting traded, But again I don't know
in which case. You know, they've got all sorts of
people who could fill in for him, So I really
don't understand why he's even there still. He is twenty seven,

(53:14):
but coming up on an arbitration, or he's probably an
arbitration already. It is the Twins, so I'm surprised he's
still there. Like I said, everybody basically as available. If
they're not pushing, then again, the Braves may go out
and trade for everybody, even though they're seventeen games back
into division in twelve. Who knows the Yankees great Devin Williams,

(53:42):
he hasn't blown a save necessarily, but he's he's not
really had clean outings either. You think they're looking to
potentially make a move, and who would that be again,
if you're just looking to back him up or find
find some potential saves down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
Oh, I don't you know. It's impossible to say, I
would say, because it is like the Yankees. What if
the Yankees go out and get Ryan Helsley, then everyone
moves back. I would assume, like I would assume the
Weaver becomes the seventh any guy, and Williams becomes the
eighth inning, and Helsley goes to the ninth. I mean
I would assume. I mean, who knows. I would say

(54:17):
the same probably with Fairbanks or I don't know, Bednar.
I guess, but Yankees are asking for trouble if they
get Bednar. But anyway, I mean it's impossible to say.
I don't know. If I were the Yankees, I would
hope Devin Williams could figure it out, to be honest,
would that would be my number one priority was getting

(54:38):
Devin Williams correct, because the Yankees are better with Williams
in the ninth. But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (54:45):
Yeah, I agree, But if you're looking around Luke Weaver,
Tim Hell, Jonathan Eliza Ga, those are the three of
the I think would be in line to potentially move
up if the Yankees don't make a move, or if
they and they also removed at Williams. So a lot
of thinking about what happens there are the Dodgers. They

(55:05):
still haven't really settled on a closer without Tanner Scott,
they may not settle on one. But who are some
of the guys that you like there in Dodgerland to grab?

Speaker 1 (55:15):
Says great Blake Trinon I believe is the guy. If
it's not him, then it may be Vessia will see
a save or two. My guess is they they go
out and they get someone. I would be shocked if
the Dodgers don't add a closer or at least a

(55:35):
top middleworld labor or something, you know. I and also
with you know, with the Guardians and Class A, it
wouldn't shock me because the Guardians are selling. It wouldn't
shock me to see the Guardians sell Kate Smith to
like the Dodgers and then Goddis becomes the closer in Cleveland.

(55:57):
That wouldn't shock me at all. You know, Kate Smith
would be a great, a great get for a contender anyway. Yeah,
the Dodgers will be buying someone. But if not, I
would say Blake Trinon would be the only guy I
would roster right now or mentioned if you're really struggling.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
So you mentioned Vessia. They seem to use him kind
of more as the firefighter, so that that could get
some saves that could not Caspirius, Ben Caspirius gotta save
this week. Jack Dryer's been in the mix, Alexis Diaz
just came back. So those are all names to consider.
But like you said, it's probably trying to investia that

(56:39):
are going to get him. That's gonna be a little
bit all over the place.

Speaker 1 (56:43):
Though.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
Let's move over to Arizona Gray, where I don't even
I don't even know anymore. Also, everybody in this bullpen
could be on the move. But until that happens, Gray,
who are you picking up? If you have to pick
up somebody for Arizona's closure role.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
I think I have Kevin Ginkoll in one league, and
i've each week I've struggled with actually moving him into
my lineup, and I haven't been able to do it.
I don't think yet I really need saves in one
league where I have them, and I still have Ginkle
on my bench. I have not been able to pull

(57:19):
the trigger on starting him. I have no faith in
them at all. I guess Craveman is also there, But yeah,
I wouldn't mess with the Diamondbacks unless you're really desperate
and even then you gotta be really desperate.

Speaker 2 (57:36):
Yeah, you gotta be desperate. If it is it's Kevin Ginkle.
I think for now I agree, but it's not a
great situation. Let's talk about waiters. Great. Give the people
some bats.

Speaker 1 (57:46):
Oh okay, So Matt Shaw has been really hot, hitting
out of the nine hole for the most part, but
has stolen a couple of bags and hit a couple
homers in the last week, hitting four hundred. Also, Tyler
Neil has Tyler O'Neil must think it's Opening Day. I
don't know, but he's been hitting for power in the

(58:07):
last week. I think he's hitting over four hundred for
the week too. Colson Montgomery White Sox shortstop has been
hitting well. Ramon Loriano has been hitting well. Bryce Matthews
had a multiple homer game and has been hitting well
outside of that. Andrew benin Tendi had a multiple homer

(58:29):
game and has not really been hitting outside of that.
Josh Bell has been hot. He's probably once to get
traded per usual, Spencer Horowitz, Josh Young, gian Carlos Stanton
a beautiful gian Carlos. He's been hot. Josh H. Smith

(58:49):
hit a homer on Sunday, he's been doing well. Mike
Tuckman hitting at the top of the White Sox order,
which sounds pretty bad, but he has been hot. Uh
Bryson Stott and Ronnie Mauricio Mets. He had a good
game on Sunday and he's been He's been somewhat hot

(59:12):
outside of that. So there are some names all right,
and on the pitching and side.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
Some streaming options for you. Brian Bayo, if he's still
