Hey everybody, welcome back. It is the Raspball Fantasy Baseball Podcast.
I am beat on, joined by the one, the only,
the Fantasy Master Litario himself. Great, all bright, how's it
going over there? Great?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Good man? What's going on? I just I'm excited for
the new error of the.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Red Sox with David Hamilton as their DH. I'm I'm
pretty stoked, man. I you know it's the uh, the
Carlos Navarees error as people are calling it. The I'm
just I'm just excited to see uh once they get
will you're a brave you back man. This is this
(01:49):
whole teams that have come together. Now, Man, what on
earth did the Red Sox do?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Bro? What did they do?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Man?
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, So, if you are just catching up to this,
Raphael Devers was traded to San Francisco. They got Kyle Harrison,
Jordan Hicks, James Timms, and Jose Bao back. You know,
obviously they signed Bregman this year.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
They called me mister Timbs. They called me mister uh.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
You know what, Honestly, I think I wrote this in
the in the round up. But if they were to
have done this trade in a fantasy league, this thing
would have got vetoed. There's no way this trade would
have passed. People would have been in an uproar. If
this was a dynasty league, as you know, sort of
(02:47):
like MLB plays where players come back year after year,
this would have been vetoed in a second. People would
have been like they would have been in the chap
in the in the league chat being like, hey, let's
kick this guy out of our league because he's terrible.
Kick Breslo out of the league because he can't make trades.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
So bad.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
No, seriously, this is a terrible It's a terrible trade.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Like, honestly, I don't know, Like the Red Sox used
to be a proud organization. I don't know what they're
doing now.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Man.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's just like I saw Bill Simmons was saying, how
like the Red Sox are run like a oh an
equity financial group, equity group, and I mean I sort
of understand it. It's like they're just looking to They're
looking like if the team, if the team spends three
(03:46):
hundred millions, say for operating costs, and they're able to
recoup four hundred million, then it's a win for them.
They don't care if they're like making like good moves
for the on the field product. This is like, this
is really like I see people defending it with like, well,
(04:08):
Dever's contract is really bad.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
It's like, yeah, so who's paying that. I'm not.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
I don't care about his contract. John Henry's got the money,
you know. And then they're like, oh, but if you
know Devers wouldn't play third, It's like, yeah, but you
didn't want to play third because he's terrible playing third.
That's pretty I mean, it's not a hard stretch to
be like, yeah, I mean he didn't want to play third,
(04:36):
but also you didn't you shouldn't have wanted him to
play third. He wasn't a good third baseman. That's why
you went out and got Alex Bregman.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
That was the reason. Like I am just I'm stupefied.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I feel like I'm like Johnny Cochran, I am egregiously
stupefied right now. I cannot believe what, Like this trade
is just so terrible and not to mention what's June.
June fifteenth is when the trade went down, So I
don't know, you have like another six weeks to find
(05:13):
a better offer, Like if you really needed to trade
trade Raphael Devers, like okay, then take until the trade
deadline and try and get a better deal, like maybe
a team at the at the end of July, maybe
you'll have like teams being like eh, like you know,
we don't really want to trade all these great prospects
(05:34):
for Devers, but you know it's like the trade deadlines
tomorrow and we have to make a move, and it's like.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Then maybe you get something better. Like what who would
make a trade in June. It's June fifteenth.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
They made a trade of Rafael, like their their biggest piece.
They're that they're probably gonna trade in.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Like I don't know years at Lee since Mookie Betts.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
So in five years, So in five years is the
biggest trade the biggest trade piece they can possibly move
and they get back Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
What even is that?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Man? That's terrible?
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Like that's really like that is just a total just
bottom line, like, oh, we're just trying to you know,
we're just moving pieces because like we don't care if
we're gonna win, it doesn't matter. We're just moving this
piece because these guys are willing to take on the contract.
They're willing to eat the money, so we're gonna move
Devers to them. They're and they don't even care if
(06:38):
they're getting a good trade package back, Like if you're not,
like if you're looking at a team that possibly take
on that contract of Devers and granted it's not a
good contract, Like I'm not I'm not looking forward to
twenty thirty when it's a thirty five year old Willie Dumas,
a thirty seven year old Matt Chapman and a thirty
(07:01):
three year old Rafael Devers is there and they're like
and they're looking terrible. I'm not looking forward to seeing
that for the giants in five years. But granted you
haven't to like I said, you haven't toil like the
end of July to see which teams would take on
that money of the Devers contract and give you back
a better package. There's no way you're in June fifteenth.
(07:23):
There's no way that's the best deal. There's no way, Like,
there's absolutely no way that could be the best deal
that you're ever gonna get offered. Like you you didn't shop,
that's not shopping around, Like you're not looking like you're
taking literally the first deal that comes your way, and
you're like, well, sounds like they're gonna take on the contract,
so let's do it, Like uh yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
You're not getting anything back.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
You're literally not getting anything, Like you're getting two terrible pitchers,
like one guy who's like a work in progress, maybe
like he needs so much work too, Kyle Harrison that is,
whereas like you're the Hicks is like he looks like
maybe a bullpen guy.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It's just such a it's so bad, man, it's such
a bad, bad trade.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Anyway, what's your thoughts?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
I mean, that's that's pretty much Jick Gray. I mean,
obviously there was the whole drama about him moving to
DH and then moving the first and not moving the
first Like you said you didn't really want him to play.
Did it really matter if he played first base and
Abraham Toro DHD or Abraham Torel played first base and
(08:34):
he dated like it doesn't matter like Mookie. At least
they were coming up to a time where they were
gonna have to pay him, like they they knew they
weren't gonna pay him. They were getting what they could
at the time that you could kind of make sense
in your head. But with this many years on a contract,
him having a really good season, you didn't have to
(08:59):
do it now, Well, you didn't even have to do
it this season. If you like wanted to move on
from him, get away until next season, you get done
any number of things other than the trade him away
and not get like. I don't know what the key
pieces they got back Gray, like Timms, I guess like
a top one hundred and fifty prospect. Is that the
(09:24):
headlinery here, I don't I don't really know. We've done
a lot of complaining. Let's talk about a little bit
on our game Gray. The fantasy side, he is currently
the number two, third base and number twelve overall. Now
that he's moving from Boston, which is one of the
top five parks for lefties and in general, to San Francisco,
(09:47):
which is a bottom three part for anybody and definitely lefties.
You know, let's let's talk about him versus some other names.
Would you rather have him or former teammate now Alex Bregman.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, I mean I saw the I saw some of
his hits.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I think it was for the last I think it
was for his career actually overlaid over Oracle Park, and
it looked like he.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Gained in homers but lost and like and this isn't
this isn't surprising because like if you just think of
the parks, So he gained in homers a bit for
opposite field ones because the ball wasn't getting doinked off
the wall. But although but some of.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Those doints off the wall went for either long singles
or doubles, so that.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Hurts his average.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
So I would guess, like, what we're gonna see is
probably a guy who's going to hit for more power
and a little bit less average. I wouldn't expect like
a drastic change in his overall value.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
For this year at least.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Like I said, you know during my rant earlier, I
don't love this as he gets older. But you know,
who knows what happens like in in three or four years.
Maybe you know, maybe they maybe the Giants offload him
at some point.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Who knows.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know, that's that's for another day. But I would say,
as long as his shoulder is okay, and obviously it
seems okay for now.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
I didn't love him coming into the year.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
As people know, I was pretty concerned about his second
half last year.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
It was pretty miserable.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
So I was worried about his shoulder coming into this year.
I was sort of an avoid.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I not sort of.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
I was an avoid. I avoid him in every league.
He looks great, obviously, but I mean he did look
great in the first half of last year. Now maybe
the shoulder issues are totally behind him and he's fine.
Now he seems fine. So yeah, I don't like.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
I don't think this move is gonna.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Drastically change his value. I think, you know, probably gaines
a little bit maybe in Homers, like I said, loses
a little bit an average. See, we may not see
that necessarily this year because it's just like, you know,
that's a small sample.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
It may not happen like the correction there. But yeah,
I mean I think he's okay.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
I saw, like I said earlier, I saw an overlay
of his uh, his hits for the you know, his
career in Oracle, and it looked like he had quite
a few like McCovey cove homers.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
He had, he had a he had a ton of homers.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Like he didn't lose a lot obviously, you know, with
the pesky pole and and the way Fenway juts in
on the right helps him. The pole pen a little
bit helped him in Fenway, so and the and the
wall helped him for average going the other way. So yeah,
I mean I would say Fenway's definitely. I mean, it
(12:55):
is obviously a better park. I mean, there's there's no
doubting that. But I don't think it's gonna kill him either.
I think he'll be okay. And I you know, I
I think the Giants lineup isn't that awful. I don't
think it's like if I prefer the Red Sox, I
prefer him in the Red Sox lineup and in Fenway.
(13:18):
Don't get me wrong. I think if anything he takes
a little bit of a hit here, but not a ton,
you know, once they get Chapman back. I think, actually
I heard Rafael Devers is the buster post he said,
asked him if he would play the field, and he
was like.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah, you know, he would, he said he would.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
So I want to be surprised if if we see
Rafaeld Devers play a couple of games in the field
as since Matt Chapman's out for the next uh you know,
I think it's like three weeks or something.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
So yeah, actually I want to be surprised.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Rafael Devers would be like, if you want me to pitch,
I'm fine doing that.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I'll do anything a man. It's also back to not
to not to go back to that incredibly long rant
I did earlier. But one thing I didn't mention was
like they were the ones that said to him like,
put away your glove. We don't we don't want you
to field, and then they asked him to suddenly start
fielding again. So that felt like a roundabout way to like,
(14:23):
you know, go at it. And then it became a
public feud. This all became like untenable as far as
like Raphael Devers and Breslo.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
It felt like and you know, this felt personal and.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
It shouldn't have like Buster Posey, I you know, I mean,
maybe he's a I would assume he's a player GM,
like he's a player's GM, meaning like he he can
speak to the players better than some gms, even though
Breslo played too.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
So I don't know, but you know, maybe it's just
a fresh.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Start that Posey, you know, had doesn't have that baggage
coming into this, where like if he says the Devers like, hey,
you want to play first.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
A little bit, he might be open to it. I think,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
I would prefer Rafael Devers goes into twenty twenty six
with some position eligibility, is what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Like I don't mind him for this year, even though
I don't have him, but next year, if he's gonna
be DH only, I mean, I'd like to get in
on Devers again if he has a good second half
this year and he doesn't have like issues with his shoulder,
so hopefully, I don't know, maybe.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
He gets first base eligibility. Maybe, like I said, maybe
he plays third while Chapman's injured.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
I would love to see Devers get some position eligibility
though heading.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Into next year.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Whatever, whether that's first or third. But yeah, anyway, long
story short, I think he's probably gonna take a slight hit,
but not really that big of a hit. I think
he's more or less you know where you're getting from
Rafael Devers, at least for twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, I'm a little more pessimistic, I think. I mean,
he's going to a much worse park. The mid season
trade very rarely results in positive, you know, changes for
the numbers or even just neutral numbers. It usually goes
(16:30):
the other way, where it's it's pretty bad. He's changing
leagues as well mid season. I don't love this actually,
and I would I would probably go ahead and use
this to move on from him if I if I
get you know, appropriate value. You know, some of the
guys that I wrote here for you, I mean men
and Machado's right behind him on the play Raider. If
(16:52):
you could make that swap, I would do that. You know,
I'm trying to look at some other names near him
and the play Raader, like Oneo Cruz. I feel like
he's it kind of depends on where your average is.
But if you need more power speed than averaging in power,
I would make that one. You know, James Wood's been amazing,
(17:14):
I would make that trade. Chario, I think has some
better days ahead of him. I would make that trade.
Then door again right behind him on a play rader.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I didn't realize Raphael Devers was that high on a
play raider.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
He's not being a really good year.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Yeah, he's having a great season. I just don't think
he continues as a top twenty player in San Francisco.
I think it's more nor I would have forty to
fifty year.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
No, yeah, I would agree with that. I mean I
did say he'd take a little bit of a head.
I don't know. Maybe you're saying he'll take a bigger
hit than I will.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
You know, Splint Hairs, I would say all those names
that you mentioned, I would take the opposite name and all,
like James would many Machado, Ta Ti, Zach Wheeler. I mean,
these are all apples and oranges kind of h but
I would take all. I would take all those guys
over Raphael Devers.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
So we're not that we're actually kind of I mean.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
If you're if you're like selling him for uh, let's
see someone who's at like so, someone who's at fifty,
so say like Riley Green, I feel like then you're
just panic, you're panic selling there but one.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
So on the other hand, yeah, I mean so, yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
If you're selling for one soda, that's a that's a
good trade because won soda should be much better than
he's been and Devers might be a little bit worse.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Yeah. Wow, Andy Paget's is top fifty.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Oh yeah, he's been great. Great, I have him.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I have him in Town Wars too.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Oh by the way, first place right now in Town
Wars is us, truly.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
I congratulations, great to keep it up.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I won.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
What I won the first two and a half months.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Is going to end up the season as a top
forty player. And I'm sure he got dropped in like
every league multiple times to begin the season.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
I think I might have dropped him in our c L.
I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure I had him at
one point.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
But you've burned you turn a lot in that one,
so yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Probably should turn Ozzie Albis. Anyway, Yeah, let's move on.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
You know, A fun piece of news. I don't know,
there's a whole lot to do about it. But Otani
returns to the mound today, Uh, he's going to start
start the game. I don't know that he's gonna go
you know that that many pitches into the game. But
what are your thoughts about Otani the pitcher. Obviously you're
gonna roll him out as a hitter in in standard
(20:06):
or in weekly leagues, but for daily leagues, for you know,
Tanis as a two player league. Are you are you
rolling out immediately? What are your expectations for rest season?
Speaker 2 (20:17):
I think actually this is probably a good a good
case scenario, not the best case scenario. The best case
scenario would be he's pitching, you know, seven eight innings
a start and chucking in twelve to fourteen k's start.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
That would be the best case scenario. But a good case.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Scenario is I think he goes out there and he's
he works as the opener, frozen inning or two has
like you know shows like what you know, it stretches
just slowly stretches himself out and as he's doing that,
he continues to hit. Well, that's I think, and then
that's what I hope, that's what we're gonna get I
(20:58):
think that. I think that's what we're gonna yet, So yeah,
I'm fine with this. I don't think like there's no
league where I would start him as a pitcher at
like over as a over over him as a hitter.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Like if you have him, if he's one player in your.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
League where you have to decide if you're gonna use
him as a hitter or a pitcher, do not use
him as a pitcher. I wouldn't use him as a
pitcher until he's thrown at least a five inning start,
and that may not be until August.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Maybe.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I mean it's it'll be interesting to see how long
it takes him to stretch out, But I would not
anticipate him throwing.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Like a full start for a while.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
I still think he's probably he's probably still a good
month six weeks away from you know, ever really considering
him a starter in your fantasy league. So you know,
just like watch him as a fan, watch him pitch
for an inning or two, but continue to use him.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
As a hitter in all your leagues.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Now if you have him as like, you know, if
you have him as a separate player where you can
start him as a hitter and a pitcher, or you
have him in a league where you have him only
as a pitcher.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
I would.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
I would start him like as you're starting, like say
a good middle reliever. You know, just start him and
you know, have him in there for his inning or two.
Maybe you get a handful of strikeouts, maybe not even
a handful, maybe you've got a couple.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
But yeah, I would. I would be fine starting him
as like an opener. But I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
I wouldn't acquire him like if anything, I'd be selling
him if I had him as only a pitcher. I
would try and sell him off of the strength of.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
You know, whatever he does in his first time out,
like because.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
You're not, like I said, you're not going to get
a real starter for at least another like months to
six weeks. If you can sell him for anything off
of the strength of his first start.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
I would do it.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
I mean, it depends on what you can get and
what you need, obviously, but you know, and that's only
in a very specific case where you have him as
only a pitcher. That's not that's not saying sell him
if you have him as a hitter. If you have
him as a hitter, please, by all means continue to
use him as a hitter.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Yes, absolutely, uh pitcher only gray, would you trade him
for Jesus Luzarno, who obviously got rocked for two straight out?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Oh my god, you're trying to trigger me?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Is this?
Speaker 3 (23:39):
What is this what the zoomers mean when when they
get triggered?
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Like what why are you personally attacking me by saying
Jesus Lazaro?
Speaker 1 (23:48):
That hurts me?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Man I had like, oh my god, I had him
so I was so invested in that. That killed me.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Oh anyway, trying to try to regroup here mentally and emotionally.
I would trade Otani as a pitcher for Lozardo, Yes,
I would. There'd be there would be very there's like
top forty starters, I would trade Otani as a pitcher
(24:18):
top one hundred hitters. I probably would do it. I mean,
you know, like just about anything like.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
That is worthwhile.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I would probably trade Otani as a pitcher because I.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Really, I mean, if you if we get like.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Forty to fifty innings from Otani, I feel like that
would be a victory for Otani, but not for fantasy Leagus,
Like I don't really think.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
We're gonna get that I don't.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I don't expect a ton to be honest, so I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Yeah, I mean I think we could see him pitch
meaningful games for our our game sometime after the All
Star break, and like you said, August might be the
most rerealistic timeline, maybe maybe a start or two before then.
But yeah, I mean, Luzardo's currently number forty nine on
(25:11):
the play Raider because of those two just horrendous starts,
but other than that, he's been good. So yeah, I
mean I would want I would make that trade, like
you said, if they're reasonably good, I'd make that trade.
Number fifty six on the play Raider, Luis Castillo. Luis Castillo,
I would take. So yeah, I mean we're we're in
the like the sixties, it's the streaming and really kind
(25:34):
of your your roster too. Can you wait for Otani
to build up to that point or do you need
any and strikeouts and wins right now and building up
through the season. That's gonna that's gonna be a little
bit of whether.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
You want there's one for you.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Would you take the next guy we're gonna discuss, Jacob
Mesrowski or Otani?
Speaker 3 (25:59):
The pitcher?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
I think I'd probably go Otani just because they're probably
both capped on innings. I don't expect either to really
throw more than what sixty innings this season, So at
that point I'll take the Otani sixty innings over the
Miserrowski sixty innings and just know Otani's are gonna come later.
(26:24):
Miserowski's a come earlier.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Okay, All right, well let's get into him.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Yeah, let's talk about Jacob Mizrawski. He was called out
by the Brewers. He has number thirty on it inches
Prospect rankings list in Triple A. This year, he had
sixty three and a third innings, twelve starts, two to one,
three year, a one oh nine whip. He had a
thirty one point six percent k rate a twelve point
three percent walk rate. In his first start, he had
five strikeouts, four walks Zeo earned. He is a one
(26:51):
hundred mile an hour fastball guy as a slider and
a curve as well. I mean, the stuff looks good gray,
the four walks not idel. What are your feelings on
Jacob Misrawski and what do you what are your thoughts
on Otani versus him since we brought him up.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
I think, uh, we know a little bit more on
Otani than we do on Meserawski. Like we saw what
the Brewers did with Logan Henderson and like he looked
great and then they sent him down. So I feel
like Miserawski is exciting and sexy, but you don't really
know what you're gonna get at this point, Like it's
(27:30):
too early to be Like, I think it's too early
to say like Misrowski is a sure bet for you know,
seventy five to one hundred innings of like no hit
ball like he did in his first start. You know,
it's like it's a little early for that. Where Otani
we know he we know Otani's great. Watch we're recording
(27:53):
this before Otani pitches in his first game. Watch him
go out and give up like seven runs. But by
what you said, though, I mean I do I do agree.
I think Otani is just a little bit of a
safer bet, So we agree there. I think with Meserawski though,
like I did, like like he feels like the stereotypical
(28:15):
guy who if you watch him, you're like so sold
that he's like nasty, he's so nasty, like and you're
so like you're so in that it's hard to see, like,
you know, the downside, because he looks so good, You're
just like, oh my god, this guy is what what's
(28:37):
he like seven feet tall and he throws one hundred
and three miles per hour. I mean it's like basically,
he's like two feet from the plate and he's releasing the.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Ball at one hundred miles per hour. Good luck in it, man.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Unfortunately, he can't find the plate, which is a I
mean it's a bit of a drawback. Like, I'm serious,
I'm concerned about starting.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Him versus the Cubs this week. You know, Like that
gives you an idea where I'm at with ms Rosky,
Like I do I really on trust him? I don't know, man,
I I want to. I mean, he looked good. I
watched all five of his innings. He looked excellent. I mean,
there's no doubt about the stuff.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
But yeah, he just doesn't he can't control his stuff
very well.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
So it's not great. Yeah, Like I'm not even sure
if I'm starting.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Him in some leagues versus the Cubs, like I started.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Him in I have him in NL, only I have
him in tut Wars.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Actually, the league where I mentioned him in first place,
I'm starting him there.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
That's NL only I'm not.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
I don't think I'm gonna start I picked him up
in our RCL league. I don't think I'm gonna start
him there. I just don't trust him enough. In a
fifteen team league, I would start him. So it's kind
of like it depends on the league really, And this
is also against the Cubs right now. I mean, the
Cubs offense looks incredible. The Wriggly has played like a
(30:10):
header's park again. I don't know what happened last year,
but it's playing like a hatter's park. The lineup looks good.
I just don't trust the guy who's throwing that many
walks against a patient Cubs team like it does.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
It sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
So i'm i'm I feel like it feels like a
start where you're gonna get like three in a third innings,
seven k's and three earned runs or four earned runs
like that feels like where we're headed this week in Chicago.
But that doesn't mean like he gets a you know,
if he gets a good start the following week, I'll
(30:46):
start him again, Like I'm not out just because he
has one bad start this week in Wrigly. If he
does that is I mean, I wouldn't be out after
one bad start. But I'm also like i feel like
I'm going start by start Mezerowski for right now, because
I mean, his stuff does look incredible, but he really
can't find the plate like at all, like as unhittable
(31:09):
as he is, and he feels like one of those
guys like he feels like, you know, like that that
stereotypical huge, big arm that is like you know, it
throws a hundred and the balls all over the map,
like you just have like hitters have no idea where
it's going.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
He has no idea where it's going.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
The catcher doesn't know where it's going, like the and
the ball is unhittable, but if the batter just doesn't swing,
then it's like, all right, well I just take the lease.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Yeah, I mean early career Randy Johnson.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Yeah, basically just like yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Yeah, I mean totally who knows where it's going, but
it's gonna be nasty and good luck hitting it. I'm
gonna I would you know, I would guess the ear
is gonna be fine with some you know, inconsistencies.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
I would also guess the whip is is gonna POTENTI
bury you occasionally just so many walks, and occasionally when
you walk, you give up that big hit and then
then everything kind of falls apart. So so I agree,
you're kind of starting to start by start. I agreed,
you don't really want to start maybe anybody against the
(32:17):
Cubs unless they're absolutely an elite starter. At this point,
the Cubs offense just just been cruising. Loving that as
a Cubs fan, but as somebody's trying to stream, was
Rosky probably would avoid? Would you rather start him or
Dustin May versus the Nationals at home?
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Yeah? I was looking actually when you were when you
were speaking.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
I was looking at the Cubs on the leader board.
They're actually they're right there with the Dodgers for the
most runs and the most RBIs and homers.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
They're a little bit behind, but they're still.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Like top five in homers. Yeah, they're I mean, they're
a good team. The Cubs are good. They got to
re sign Kyle Tucker. Okay, so I'm sorry, what was
your question now, miss Roski.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Or who miss Roski or Dustin May versus the Nationals.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
I actually have that. I have that decision to make.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I'm going Dustin May. I don't know if it's the
right decision. I would assume the streaminator is going to
agree with that decision. And yeah, I mean I saw
I think the streaminator had MISERASKI at like negative forty
something something bad. I didn't even look up Dustin May,
but I had that exact decision, and I'm going Dustin
(33:41):
May in.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
My starting lineup. So oh, I don't know. Knock on wood.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
If you're listening at home, you know, if you're listening,
after the two stars happen, you can either laugh or cheer.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Here year or jeer.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Yeah. So I mean I feel like that gives you
a good spot like Dustin May is very much in
the like back in roster streaming category. So this week
probably better only miss Rowski on your bench, but absolutely
pick him up because the upside if he can just
keep the walks to a minimum is huge. A recent
(34:16):
call up, one that was just announced today and he'll
join is Brady House. He's calling. He's coming up for
the Nationals. Number forty one on it just Prospect Ranks
list sixty five games in Triple A. He has thirteen runs.
He's hitting three h four three fifty three five nineteen.
He's got a twenty six and a half percent k rate,
seven percent walk rate. It should be the starting and
(34:37):
third baseman for the Nationals. I don't. I don't see
any reason why he wouldn't be. What are your thoughts
here on Brady House? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:46):
They they also they were they sent down Jose Tenna,
so yeah, I mean they cleared the way for a
Brady House. I you know, I grabbed Brady House in
a couple of leagues and I was kind of it
was kind of uncontested, and it's hard to know if
it was because people weren't paying attention or if they
(35:09):
were just like.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
I'm okay without Brady House. I don't know. It's like
it's hard to know sometimes. So I mean I like them.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
You know, I saw itches, you know, prospect Itch, our
prospect guy is so good about with these prospects stash lists,
like he really nails them.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Like on Sunday he had Brady House in the.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Top three for guys to stash and like within like,
you know, twenty four hours, Brady House gets called up
like that.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
That is really helpful. Itch, if you're listening, it's really helpful.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
So, yeah, that's actually the second guy I got like
that because I got miss Rowski in tow Wars to
weeks ago, like because he was on itches a stash list,
like I.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
I just picked him up.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
And that's a twelve team NL only league, Brady House.
Actually I got in a twelve team N only league,
the same league with tow Wars. Okay, anyway, so he
looks like he's gonna struggle for average. Potentially, he had
a twenty seven percent strikeout rate in triple A. It
looks like, you know, if that bounces up to thirty
(36:29):
two percent, he might struggle to hit two twenty, which
you know would hurt his value.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
For at least mixed leagues.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
He does have huge power, so I would say, I mean,
he looks to me like at least a fifteen team
mix league guy, but in a twelve team mix league,
I'm absolutely watching to see if like he hits the
ground running, because you know, a power third basement is
I mean, there's you know, I mean, third base isn't
(36:59):
as bad as second base, obviously, but a corner man.
It's not a bad thing to have if you can
get a guy off of waivers who could potentially hit
you know, say, I don't know, seventeen to twenty homers
the rest of the way, hitting hopefully two thirty or higher,
but you know, like I said, possibly lower depending on
(37:22):
the strikeouts. But he looks like he's a middle of
the order bat. And that's just for this year, you know,
in dynasty keepers, I would expect him to already be
rostered in most deeper ones, but he looks like he's,
you know, possible as soon as next year. Even a
thirty homer two forty plus guy with you know, not
(37:46):
zeros in speed either, like he has a fifty grade speed.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
I would say probably asking for.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
More than five to seven steals over the course of
a season's.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Probably asking for a lot. But the Nationals do run
a lot.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Davey Martinez a no problem stealing bases, so maybe we
get more steals from him too than we're expecting.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
I mean, a thirty thirty homer ten steel two.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Forty hitter next year, that's huge.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
I mean, I don't know, if we're there, you know,
obviously there's a long way to go before we get
to what he's going to be able to do next year.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
We have to see what he can do this year.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
But if he can stay up, and I really like
the Nationals called him up they sent down TENA, it
really feels like he's up for good as long as
he doesn't completely.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Bottom out, which is I mean, that's also possible.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
When you have a guy who strikes out a lot,
you never know he could potentially hit one seventy and
get sent down in two or three weeks. I mean,
that's also possible, but hopefully not. But the power alone
definitely plays in most deeper mixed leagues, probably just shy
of a twelve.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Team mix league.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
But if you really need upside, I don't hate it,
Like even in an RCL. If you really like, if
you're if you're looking for upside, you grab him and
see what happens, and if he, you know, fails to
do anything in the next week, then you just drop him.
But I would, you know, also in that vein, I
would be careful about, you know, dropping anyone too valuable
(39:20):
in order to pick him up. But everyone in RCL
league twelve teen mix league, that is, everyone should have
at least one guy who's you know, a flex that is,
you're capable of dropping at.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
A moment's notice. So yeah, I don't I don't mind
the flyer on Brady House.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Yeah, twelfeen mixed league, very shallow bitches. Yeah, I think
it's easily be right on the border to that. I
will say third base and Quarner this year have been
really streamer heavy positions unless you drafted a couple very early,
because like anybody who's in that area, anybody who's into
(39:57):
like ten to twenty of first or third, they've had
a good month and then they've been terrible for like
three weeks. So you kind of have to just keep
playing that game and moving him in out. So I
really don't mind the shot on Brady House and just
see kind of if he can carry over the good
hitting that he was having in Triple A.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
As you mentioned, the Nationals just run, yeah, totally, Yeah,
the Nationals run.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
He's probably in that camp of like Nick Kurtz, Jay cagleone,
and Brady House, and that's that's the order I would
put them. Well, yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
All right, moving over, let's talk about a guy who's
been up we've seen him. We got a glimpse early on,
and then it's kind of disappeared until last week. Ray
and that is Evan Carter, number one on the Seven
Day Player Raider. Last week he had twenty six plate appearances,
three home runs, two stone bases. He had five hundred
five seventy seven ten forty five. Like I said, we
(41:00):
haven't really seen this side of him since he first
got called up. Is this just another little glimpse or
are we starting to get the breakout we thought we
would get after that that great initial look.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Right, Evan, Evan Carter's breaking out and the monkey paw
curls and there goes his hamstring. The guy is the
guy is so cursed. I think it was.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
I actually I picked him up in our RCL leg
and I was holding him this week.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
It was he was great.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
And then I don't know, I forget what the injury was.
But like by Sunday he was injured again. It's like, oh, man, okay,
he can't get a break except for the break to
his femur or something. I I mean, I like Evan Carter.
I want to be I want to be fully invested.
(41:56):
I mean, he looks like you know, uh, you mentioned
the recent numbers, but like you know, for the year
even it's still a small sample size because he hasn't
played a ton But in you know, sixty four at
bats this year, he has drastically reduced his strikeouts. Like
he looks more comfortable. He's also I mean, he's only
(42:17):
twenty two years old, turns twenty three in August. I
think he still has all that potential that we thought
he did back in you know, an early preseason of
twenty twenty four. When you know, I think preseason at
twenty twenty four, I want to say, like people, there
was people in the camp of Wyatt Langford it's going
(42:40):
to be the big breakout, but Evan Carter might be
the big breakout. Like I want to say, there was
still people who were divided in the Evan Carter and
Whyatt Langford camp. Now I think everyone obviously feels like
Whyatt Langford has surpassed Evan Carter, But I don't know,
at twenty two years old, I wouldn't write off Evan
Carter at all. Like I do think the potential is
(43:01):
still there. I feel like he might be a big
time sleeper going into next year. That's that's my sort
of my big picture take on Evan Carter. I feel
like people are gonna be really excited about him for
next year, and this year still might be a little
bit hit or miss.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
But yeah, I would grab him. I I you know,
I had him.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
I wrote up a post forum last last Friday. He
was in Friday's by column. I'm totally I'm totally in
the you know, the camp of being like he could
potentially be breaking out right now, because yeah, I mean
the strikeouts are way down, they look good. I mean,
(43:45):
he looks like he's making better contact. He's he's starting
to put it together. I wish he would steal more,
but that is more I think on a team philosophy thing,
more than him so but still, I mean he's stolen
more bases at least in the very you know, very
recent past, so that's good.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
I would grab him in any league, by the way,
not just I would say any mixed league. Evan Carter
is definitely worth grabbing to see if he's finally putting together,
because if he does put it together, it could be
really great.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Yeah. I mean, if he puts it together, and he's
the guy we saw at first glance, like he could
be a difference maker and a league winner, especially you
scoop him up for free, you know, and just looking
at the brief time he came up earlier this season
and got hurt and they come back hard. Hit is
almost doubled. Gray exit velocity is up eleven miles per
(44:46):
hour on average. Barrel raate is looking really solid. So
you know, the numbers bear out that he's hitting the
ball a lot better this time around. I'm not willing
to say it's the full breakout, but I'm I'm definitely
willing to grab him and start him and see if
(45:08):
this is going to go all right. Like you said,
with that hot week, I mean, he's the numbers for
the season really don't look that bad in only twenty
two games, four home runs, five stone bases to eighty one. Obviously,
that's one very very hot week. But he has that
in him as well. You know, would you rather have
(45:28):
him or a dollars Garcia Gray, I would go Evan Carter,
Carter or Castianos Nick Castianos.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
I would probably go Evan Carter.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
All right, how about Evan Carter or this year's Nolan
Jones slash insert Rockies outfielder Jordan Back.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
I thought you were to say Bretton Doyle. Yeah, Jordan Beck, No,
I would go Evan Carter. This is all at the
time of the recording.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Evan Carter seems like he's gonna avoid the IL. So
if Evan Carter goes on the IL between now and
when people listen to this, that has that changes my opinion.
But yeah, so I think Evan Carter over Jordan Beck.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
Okay, so we're both We're both pretty in on this
Evan Carter hot streak and thinking he is going to
continue this. Let's move over to the athletics where the
other Max Mounsey has has been hitting well since his
return gray ten games. He has four home runs of
stolen base. He's sitting two forty four two six, two,
five thirty seven, number twelve on the Seven Day Player Raider.
(46:51):
What are your thoughts on Max Mounsey number two.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
Well, he was actually he was the lead by for
this BYCOLMN this past Friday. So I'm I actually really
like Max Monsey. The second I think he's probably a
little bit underappreciated. I got the sense, Now I could
be wrong here, but I got the sense for comments
in my BYCOLMN that people weren't people were not really
(47:19):
feeling the Max monthly thing. They were more you know,
it was it was more about like everyone else except
for Max Monsey. I think, you know, I think Max Monsey,
like if you look at his h numbers in the minors,
like he does strike out a lot, so there there
could be a bit of a struggle to hit for.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
A decent average. And right now he's hitting two oh
two on the year, so you know that's not great.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
Like you mentioned, he had a good hot week, so
he was hitting well for the last week. So I mean,
he doesn't have a ton of what's he got thirty
one games, one hundred and third team played appearances, so
he doesn't have a huge sample size. So I would
imagine the two poh two batting average can come up
a little bit, Like he could hit two thirty. So
(48:09):
it's still not amazing, but two thirty is gonna be
you know, if he if that comes with power and
some speed, that's not a terrible guy at second base,
Like second base is brutal this year. So I don't
you know, I I'm kind of I'm interested in Max
Munsey in the big Pitcher here. I you know, I
(48:30):
do think he was a pickup for this week. He
was someone who you know, if you if you if
you want to grab a guy who had a hot bat, he.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Was the guy to grab. I think at least one
of them for the last you know, for this week,
he was that guy.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
But with that said, I think he can be more
or less like he can be somewhat valuable even going forward.
I don't think he's just a one week hot bat.
Like he could be something. It's just it's gonna be
really dependent on how much contact he can make. I
do I like the stadium at least at home. I
(49:09):
like his home stadium. For power, I do think he's
got like, you know, five to seven steal speed, so
you know, if he can hit for some power, steal
a handful of bags and hit two thirty at second base,
I mean, god, at this point, I would love that
for Ozzi Alby's.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
Please please let Ozzi Alby's do something.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
So yeah, I you know, I like Max Monthy a bit,
probably a bit more than I feel as like most people.
But I do like him, you know, to a certain extent.
If it's like him or I don't know, him, or
like a second base I'm trying to think of a
(49:56):
decent second basement.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
I was like Willie Castro, He's been you know, consistently.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no.
Speaker 2 (50:03):
I would take I would try Max Muncy because will
the good, the good and the bad. Well, Willie Castro
is Veg's hot. You can pick him up off of
waivers and he will stay on waivers until he gets
hot again. Because no one cares about Willie Castro. You
will always find Willi Castro on waivers whenever you want
Willie Castro. So that's that's the good thing with Willy
(50:25):
and the bad thing.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
So I would you know, I would pick up Max
Bunzi over Willi Castro.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
All right, how about how about Dylan Moore?
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (50:36):
Yeah, no, I would go Max Munty.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
Okay, So I mean you're pretty high on Max Mounsey.
Then at least at least a middle infielder, if not
even a potential for a starting second basement or a
late outfielder, if he qualifies in your league at outfield.
And you know, I don't I don't hate that. I
like to go Dylan Moore just because I think they're
kind of similar builds and that they're they're gonna be
(51:00):
a little bit power, little speed, and probably not a
whole lot of average. And Dylan Moore's playing time seems
like it's at least locked in, whereas I don't know
if Munzie's is quite as locked in. That means that
Munsi's park is drastically better as well, so you can
at least always start him at home, and he is
at home all this week, so at least for this week,
(51:23):
I would definitely go Max Muncie.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Dolan Moore is the Mariners, Doling Moore, as you're talking,
he is, I mean, is he even playing anymore?
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Not a no pun intundant because.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
He's he's he's kind of falling into a platoon Unfortunately,
he's getting into every game, but he's not necessarily staying
in every game.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
Yeah, he's become a bit of a lefty only platoon guy.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
Yeah, I would, I would move on from mill at
Dylan Moore. But you know, if you need steals, okay.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Yeah, Monsy could also give you steals. I mean, I
think I think we maybe underspoke his his ability to
take basis he didn't really do it this year in
the minors, but he has before and uh, a lot
of his numbers are in very small sample sizes across
different leagues. Yeah, agreed, All right, Greg, Let's talk about
a player who's, uh, who's not playing particularly well, at
(52:29):
least by his standards, and that is Bobby Wett Junior,
who you know, I'm not gonna lie. I selfishly put
on here because I have him, and it's it's not
been great great last year his worth worst month he
hit two seventy eight and maybe he hit two forty three,
and he's hitting two thirty four so far in June.
He does have the best average exit vlassie of his career,
(52:52):
So that's good. All the underlying numbers look fine for
the most part. What are your thoughts in regards it's
to Bobby Wood Junior, who, again Mike didn't hit under
two seventy eight in a single month last year. We're
looking at two back to back on's where he's hitting
under two fifty.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
Yeah, that's not good. I was just I was perusing
his numbers.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
I'm I'm kind of surprised at how sort of mediocre
he's doing. But you know, in his defense, even when
he's having a it looks like a bit of a
down year for power and average. He has been stealing bags,
so you know, if you're getting ah, it looks like
(53:41):
he looks like a Corbin Carol in what we thought
Corbin Carroll was gonna be type year. It looks like
Corbyn Carroll and Bobby Wood Junior have switched bodies?
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Are we Are they filming a body switch movie that
we don't know about?
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Friday five? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (54:00):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (54:01):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (54:01):
Bobby went Junior and Corby Girl and Freaky Friday five?
Speaker 3 (54:10):
Yeah? I think? Yeah, I mean this is kind of
concerning for at least this year.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a one year blip,
but you know, it's also it's still early enough where
he could probably he could fix some of these power
numbers and his average, Like I wouldn't necessarily count him
out on that respect. I do remember last I want
to say, last July August he was he was unreal. Yeah,
(54:43):
like it was what was it last July or August?
Speaker 1 (54:46):
Right?
Speaker 5 (54:46):
It was?
Speaker 1 (54:48):
He? I mean July was stupid. He hit I think
ten home runs in July, right, Both months were absolutely absurd.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
Right, Yeah, so yeah, I would you know, I wouldn't
be shocked if you know, he comes on and and
correct some of this the power and batting average, I
would be buying. If anything, the good thing is, like
I said, like even if his numbers, even if the
power and average don't bounce back.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
I mean, at worst, you're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
You know, a seventeen homer fifty steals two eighty hitter,
which you know, I mean there's worse things than that, right,
I mean, that's like one of the best years Trey
Turner ever did when he was like when he was
a top five guy. So yeah, I mean I would buy.
(55:40):
I would be buying Bobby wit Junior if I could.
I would assume anyone who's selling wants probably the world.
Speaker 3 (55:49):
I don't think.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
I don't think you're gonna be able to buy low
on him necessarily. I would think, you know, anyone, if
you if you draft a guy in the top you
know three overall, it's not like you're gonna be able
to you know, just suddenly be able to buy low
with like Edwin Diaz and Hunter Goodman or something.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
You know.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
I don't see that happening necessarily, even though both of
those guys have done well. I you know, I think
Bobby Wood, Bobby Wood Junior, looks like to me, a
guy who has had a little bit of a he's
a little he's slumping a little bit, and he's not
necessarily you know, and he's not.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Getting the lift on.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
His power isn't been there, his lift is not he's
not hitting the ball as hard, he's not lifting the
ball as well. But it doesn't look like catastrophic like
I think, you know, if anything, I'd be I was
more worried about Juan Soto, who also in the last
week has done well to turn around a lot of
(56:56):
his numbers. So yeah, I'd be buying on Bobby Wood Junior.
I don't necessarily know if the power is gonna get there,
but it could. I mean it did last second half,
so I wouldn't be shocked if it happened again.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
Yeah, So I looked it up Gray last July and August,
Bobby with hit three eighty nine with seventy home runs
in five stolen bases, with fifty one runs and forty
two RBIs so yeah. I mean, if he does that
for two months, then you know you're you're you're gonna
be pretty good. Let me ask you a few. I
(57:33):
mean right now on the player Raider or on Rudy's projections,
Otani Judge, akunya, Jose Ramier is above him, all still
above him for you?
Speaker 2 (57:46):
No, okay, Bobby, Yeah, I mean I would say, Otani Judge,
did you said akunya right?
Speaker 1 (58:01):
And Jose Ramould you have all those guys well?
Speaker 3 (58:04):
Yeah, no, I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (58:06):
No, I wouldn't have a kunya above Bobby wit Jr.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
Jose Ramirez feels fine.
Speaker 2 (58:13):
If but if a little bit iffy, I would probably
have them pretty close. But I think I would still
pull Bobby wit Junr. Above Jose Ramirez and a kunya. Uh,
definitely a kunya for sure. Jose Ramirez and Bobby Whitt
are super close in my mind.
Speaker 3 (58:30):
Uh a kunya.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
I mean, we saw he finally got a steal this weekend,
which was great, But I don't think he's going to
be running like we we expect of a Ronald Acuna Junior.
I think, you know, the power has been great. He
looks like he's still you know, he looks like he
can still hit well. But if the steals go to
(58:54):
you know, ten ten twelve steals, I mean that's a
that's a different Ronald Cunya then, you know, I think
we're used to so I don't know. I wouldn't have
I don't.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
I don't get me wrong. I still like Ronald Acunya Junior.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
I just don't think he's at the level of being
better than Bobby Wood Junior.
Speaker 1 (59:13):
Yeah, I mean that's fair. Ronald Coonya did him off
a ridiculously good week last week where he at six
nineteen great with three home runs and a stolen base,
So you know, I'm not putting it past him to
be better. But yeah, I understand what you're saying. Understand
from a health perspective, the combined stolen bases being there,
(59:37):
I can get behind you.
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Let's be let's just let's let's put it straight here,
beat On.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
If you had Bobby Wood Junior, would you trade him
today for Ronald Acuna Junior, Like literally, you know, straight up.
Speaker 1 (59:50):
I wouldn't. I would, I would, I wouldn't. I would
add Ellie Ellie to that list. I think Ellie's clearly
put himself in that that elite group. Oh yeah, that's
it though, maybe Tucker, Yeah that's.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Prob Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, Yeah, Ellie's over at Tucker's
overwit too for me, I mean Overwett, yeah, overwet.
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Yeah. Yeah, Ellie looks incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
Man, Ellie's been ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
I have no complaints about drafting Ellie and like everywhere,
like yeah, like eight of ten leagues. I have no,
I have literally no complaints about that. It's uh, some
of my complaints lie.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
With like Christian Walker, Matt Reagan's.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
I have complaints, don't get me wrong, I just don't
have complaints about Ellie.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
No, it's hard to complain about Ellie at this point.
Let's let's move over to bullpens, where there's always something
complaining about Gray. There's always something over here over in Philly.
Normano sucks because whoever gets this, whoever closes in Philly sucks.
It's just how it is. Great, Matt Strom gotta save
(01:01:10):
is it? Is it a change? Is this you know? Still?
Is this now a committee? Do you just never want
a Phillies closer ever again? Because it's awful. It's a
terrible experience.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, all that Brad Lidge cursed the Philly
bullpen in two thousand and nine.
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
Uh yeah, I don't know. I don't know what's going on.
Man with the Phillies. But they have like they have
a good they have like a great closer two.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
And a half weeks, then they have a terrible closer
for like a week and a half, and then they
get a new closer.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
Every month. This is this is how it happens every month,
Like on.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
June, let's see May first, May fifteenth, May fifteenth, Jordan
Romano became the Phillies closer and looked great for two weeks.
Then he became terrible for a week and a half,
and now he's not the closer anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
Every every month this happens. I don't know. I don't
know why, but it does.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
It's awful. It's a terrible thing to have to deal
with for fantasy. I guess Matt Strom. Matt Strom is
now the closer, don't I don't think, honestly, I guess.
But you know what's gonna happen there, right, because I just.
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Told you I.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
Exactly what's gonna happen, Because will in exactly two weeks
Strom's gonna look terrible and then for a week he's
gonna be terrible, and then Kirklang is gonna or whatever
his name is, is gonna become the closer. That's that's
what happened.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean I guess Romano.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
I mean I would probably say it's a at this point,
it's a committee. I feel like Romano just is not
really he doesn't feel worth rostering in most mixed leagues.
I mean, I I just I mean, unless you're desperate
for saves. But it's like, how desperate are you that
you're gonna have Like he's got a seven plus e RA,
(01:03:24):
he looks he has a four four plus walk per nine.
I mean, he looks terrible, just an absolute mess. Matt
Stroma looks better. But yeah, but you just wait, you wait,
because he won't be good in two weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
I'll tie that.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
So yeah, I guess he's also a lefty, which I
mean for whatever reason.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
I mean, it wouldn't be me he would have a
problem with it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
But I think Rob Thompson has an issue. It feels
like at least that he's he's like one of those
old school managers where he's like, oh, lefty can't be
the everyday closer. So, you know, I don't know, if
I had to rank them, i'd probably say still as
of right this moment, I'd probably say Vermano Strom and
(01:04:15):
then uh kirk.
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Ring, Okay, yeah, I think I would. I think in
order of who gets the next save, I would agree
in order of who I want on my team, just
give me all Ryan Kirker and the rest of them
are terrible. Gray, Yeah, I don't. I don't even want
Strong Orramanel pitching for me. Like you said, if you
(01:04:38):
absolutely need every save, okay, but owning them is like
I know you're not. You didn't watch the US Open, Gray,
But it's basically like hitting driver in Oakmont, Like you're
either gonna put it down the fairway and it's gonna
it's gonna be just fine, or it's not in the
fairway and you are just screwed and there's nothing you
can do about it. Over in Atlanta, I mean basically
(01:05:04):
the same thing, right, Nobody nobody wants it here. They
have like they have people who've been throwing well, but
as soon as you give them the closer role, they
just collapse in on themselves. Is there anybody here you want?
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
There's also well, I guess the Mets.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
I was thinking it's all it's an NL East issue
because the Marlins aren't.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
Much better, but the Mets don't care who they have.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
The Mets are good.
Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
Yeah, the Marlins just don't care the Marlins. The Marlins
are like the Marlins seem like they're like the manager
is like the guy from Memento, where they're like, who's
the closer?
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
I literally have no idea. It's like there's really no there's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
No even like rhyme or reason with the usage in Miami,
it's like, wait, is Poucher the closer?
Speaker 3 (01:05:57):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Yeah, save in Atlanta, though I don't I would guess,
let's see, I would probably go Dylan Moore, excusely, Dylan Lee,
Pierce Johnson. Uh I honestly, I think I said this
last week. I would just probably bench like Dylan Lee
(01:06:23):
or Rossiel Iglesias or Pierce Johnson. I would put him
on my bench if I needed saves. You know, you
maybe you miss out on a save or two, but
just put them on your bench to see how they look,
and if one of them takes the job and runs
with it, then you can move them into your lineup
and get saves after that. But at this point, there's
no one you can trust in the Braves bullpen.
Speaker 1 (01:06:47):
No, there's not. And if there is, it's Dylan Lee
who has the old, you know, the lefty issue going.
And I mean, if there's any manager in all of
baseball who's not gonna have the job to a lefty,
come on.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
You can just look at him and be like, that
guy is not using the left He is.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Not using the lefty right now.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
I don't know anything about baseball, but I'm just looking
at a picture. I'm like, that guy's not using left I.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Can tell you that absolutely. Not Over in Boston, Greg
Greg Weisser got two saves this week. Any concern Honor
Old is his role there?
Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Uh No.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
I think Alex Corus said that Chapman he wanted to
give Chaman two days of rest after he pitched on Friday,
And I mean, Chapman's been so good, so yeah, I
don't see. I don't see any reason to worry about Chapman,
assuming he's healthy, which, uh, you know, as far as
we know he's healthy, you know, maybe maybe the Red
(01:07:56):
Sox will trade him for like Bailly Falter or something.
It's like, I don't know, I honestly, actually, Billy Falter
has been a lot better than Kyle Harrison.
Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
They should yeah, they should have trained, they should have tradeds.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
Falter.
Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
Oh my god, imagine Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Talk about like hating a person, like, oh my god,
we hate you so much we sent you to the pirates.
Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
Over All, right, let's move over to l A. I mean,
this is Tanner Scott, Copak, whoever else they want to
having that bullpen really is getting looks at or looks
at saves. Uh. Is it still Tanner Scott for you?
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
Yeah? Yeah, I think Tanner Scott is the closer.
Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
I just think they have so many good arms that
occasionally other guys will get work and some times I
will say, I mean, it's not great for fantasy, but
for real baseball. I mean, you know, there's worse things
than Dave Roberts throwing Tanner Scott in the eighth inning
against the heart of a lineup or something, and.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
That's what it seems like.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
It seems like whenever Tanner Scott works the eighth he's
working it because it's like the heart of the lineup. So,
I mean, you know, it's not great for fantasy, but
it does make somewhat sense. So occasionally other guys will
get saves, but it seems like Tanner Scott is the guy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Yeah, and for what it's worth, it does seem like
Alex Vesia has been the Okay, we used Tanner Scott.
Let's let's put in Vessia and he's been getting the save.
So if you're in a league where the second guy
in a bullpen is own, it's Vessia. And really, his
numbers have been great, so you could just start him
(01:09:55):
even if you you know, you're not chasing saves and
you're still gonna get good numbers from him or really
anybody in the Dodgers' bullpen. They've all been They've all
been phenomenal. Which is it pisses me off break because
the Cubs bullpen is mediocre at best. That's being very generous,
by the way, let's move on to waivers. Great before
(01:10:16):
I get too upset about the Cubs bullpen. What batters
you got for the people?
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
Okay, so it looks like Casey Schmidt has been hot.
Wait a minute, I feel like he might be losing
playing time. I think Casey Schmidt, well, it depends on
Raphael Devers and if he wants to pick up a glove.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
But right, now.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Casey Schmidt has been hot for the last week. We
mentioned earlier. Evan Carter's been hot.
Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
Josh H.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
Smith h is for hot, Willia Domas has been Willie Domas. Wow,
look at the Giants Ryan Ryan McMahon has been hot
over the last week. JP Crawford, Alejandro Kirk has really
been like hot as well as like hitting. I want
to say he's hitting like three point fifteen last time
(01:11:06):
I checked. Anyway, Max Kepler has been hot. Actually I
picked him up in our RCL league. I've I've been
holding Max Kepler. He's been hot. Max Munsey, who we
mentioned earlier, Max Monty, that's the A's Max Monty.
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
You would know that if you listen to the whole show.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
Dane Meyers, Marlin's center fielder, he's been hot. Brooks Lee
guy's got a lot of eligibility, a lot of position eligibility.
Twins has been hot. Otto Kemp has been hot as well.
It's been playing third for the Phillies while Bryce Harper's
excuse me, he's been playing first while Bryce Harper is out.
(01:11:47):
Louis Rangifo hit two homers I believe on Saturday. So
he's been hot and Alec Thomas has been hot. So
there's some names for you.
Speaker 3 (01:11:59):
Good luck.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot of names for
the people. Hopefully somebody can help them. On the streaming side,
this is this is not a good week for streaming options.
I apologize if you're you're really looking for streaming options
this week, because it's it's slim pickings. A lot of
the guys have either terrible matchups or they're terrible, which
case I don't want you to get blown up. So
(01:12:23):
Noah Cameron at San Diego, Zach ly Tel versus Baltimore,
Hayden bird Song versus Cleveland, and you seek a coaching
versus Houston. I don't actually love any of those, but
this is the best of a very bad bunch. If
you don't want to start any of those, I have
some reliever names for you to start that are probably
available in your league. Jason Junk, Garrett Widlock, Brian Baker,
(01:12:46):
Sean Armstrong, Eric Ors, Bennett SUSA, Dennis Antana, Danny Columba,
and Steven Okhurt. They've all been great and you can
start them rather than a starter this week, because again
this stream options this week are brutal so I really
hope that you have starters already set for your leagues
(01:13:07):
this week. If not, you can always find us on Twitter.
I am at rasbeat On, Gray is at Rasball, YouTube
dot com, slash Rasball Fantasy, in therasball dot com comment section.
Wherever you want to find us, you can ask us questions.
Hopefully you get those lineup questions, those lineups set correctly,
and I will talk to you next week. Gray all
(01:13:29):
Right
Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
Lates cool alright beat on
