You don't even fantasy help where youhave seatizes on and my covering else
and I'm already alizing in my baysound just like your name was mine that
(00:33):
he's a ride by podcasts to rideoff Podcat. It's a ride podcat,
It's a ripe by podcat. It'sa ripe podcat, rider Podcat, ripe
(00:54):
Podcat. Welcome back, everybody doesthe ras Ball Fantasy Baseball podcast. I
am beat On, joined by theFantasy Master Lethario himself. Great, all
(01:15):
right, how are you doing there? Grey? Uh? Good? Um,
you know, I I'm okay,I'm fine. Health is good.
Fantasy team health not as good. Not a great week. Uh had Hunter
(01:38):
Green gown in a bunch of places, So that just ripped that mola rammed
my heart out of my chest.I was like, uh, Hunter Green,
anything but a home run aloud, please please, oh my god.
It was like that was the curefor the dead ball. It was like,
(01:59):
oh, you know, the deadball flies if you're throwing it one
hundred and three miles per hour apparently. Oh man. I was like before
that, I was like, youknow, singing Lizze like it's bad bitch
o'clock and it's thick thirty. Andthen all of a sudden, a hundred
Green started pitching. I was like, oh, oh, oh that hurts.
(02:23):
Oh yeah, So anyway, yeah, I've been better. The teams
that my fantasy teams don't have hundredGreen are actually doing okay. Other than
that, Yeah, how about youbeat one? How are you doing?
Yeah? I sat at Hunter Greeneverywhere because I was just terrified of what
might happen. He's just the homeruns. I mean, if you took
(02:45):
away every home run he's allowed,he not. His lines actually might be
okay, but he's just yeah,I mean everything he's throwing up there is
getting hit out of the park.It sucks. Yeah. Actually that's uh,
that's a good point. I waslike, you know, I was,
I think I wrote in the writeup on the site or I said
it somewhere or I don't know, but his like his cap per nine is
(03:08):
beautiful, Like he's doing really likeHunter Green, Like if you just look
at the x F oh baby,oh man, he's doing so well,
but he's like he's making Like MatthewBoyd looks at his home runs aloud and
is like, damn, Matthew.Matthew Boyd wishes he could have a home
(03:30):
run aloud as as high as HunterGreen. I mean it's like damn,
I uh yeah, no, HunterGreen. Right now, his home run
his home runs per alloud per nineis four point three five. That's uh
that's roughly, um, I don'tknow, maybe four hundred home runs a
(03:53):
year aloud. Yeah, that's givingup ten home runs only twenty innings.
No, seriously, he throws twohundred innings. That's one hundred home runs.
Oh that's so bad, oh man. But he's so good. I
(04:15):
know, he's like, uh,he's like a truth three outcome pitcher.
All he does is home home runsaloud, walks aloud, or strikeouts.
He's the atom. He's the atomdone of pitching. Oh man, Okay,
anyway, yeah, be done. But yeah, I mean I feel
(04:36):
like maybe hundred Green has that fivepercent of the twenty nineteen baseballs that they've
brought back, you know, justkind of mix it up. One game
per day they throw in twenty nineteennballs it seems like, so maybe he's
just unlucky and gets those I know, well, you know, it's um
(04:57):
you know, it's kind of like, I mean, I feel like baseballs.
Rob Manfred is like um U jIger Hoover plotting JFK's assassination. Allow
me to explain, So it's likebefore JFK got killed by the FBI and
Albert Stone lost his ship and madethe JFK Kevin Costner movie, before all
(05:23):
that happened, like, you know, no one believed in conspiracies. But
once JFK got assassinated, and thenit was like, oh, oh,
anything's possible. The government's capable ofdoing anything, so you lose all trust.
And then it's like the same thingnow with Major League Baseball, where
you have like, you know, the baseballs for like a hundred years,
(05:43):
everyone's like, yeah, baseball isa baseball. What there's nothing, there's
nothing wrong with the baseball. Imean, baseball is a baseball, right,
and then you have suddenly Rob Manfred'slike, let's tinker. And now
you have a situation where it's like, one, home runs are up insane
and Rob Manfred's like, h mightwant to scale back on that one I
(06:08):
want to scale back a little biton that baseball that's just bouncing out of
the stadium on like opposite field, like home runs like nothing. Like suddenly
labor Tours is a forty homer hitter. Okay, yeah, maybe not.
Maybe we just want to scale back. And now it's like he scale back
so far that you're like, oh, man, now nothing. Now no
(06:30):
one can hit a home run.Now. Giancarlo has like expected batting average
of like eight hundred, and hecan't hit a home run. Damn.
He had a hundred and seventeen milesper hour EGXIT velocity and it's a flyball.
It's a shallow right, that's weird. So now it's like suddenly,
now everyone is like you see agame where like a couple homers are hit,
(06:54):
like in the Brewers game against likeHunter Green, and it's like,
huh did they mix up the baseball? Like now suddenly nothing's real and it's
like everyone's just looking like no one'slooking at the players anymore, and now
you're just looking at the baseballs, which is, you know, m not
great. It's not a great situation. I feel like I feel like pitchers
(07:14):
are gonna have to hurry up andpitch faster because the the human door effect
loses. You know, it's goneonce the ball sits in the umpire's satchel
for half an inning, and soyou gotta you gotta move quick out there
on the mound and get going.Yeah, yeah, that's true. I
wonder you know what, no one'sever talked about that, like does it
matter how long this is? Also, see there's another thing like but the
(07:35):
human doors, because it's like lastyear, it's like, oh yeah,
oh, by the way, thatpark has a huba door, Like what
do you a minute? Are yousupposed to tell people that? But anyway,
like now every stadium has got ahuman door, but there's no like
but no one has said, ohyeah, they're all set for the same
(07:56):
amount of humidity. Like it's like, what's going on with the doors?
Are they just like all over themap? It's like, oh yeah,
in this stadium, it's like thehuman door makes it a bouncy ball,
and then this stadium, the humandoor makes it a dead ball, Like
what why is going on? Butanyway, no, but when you were
you brought up an interesting thing thatI never even thought of that I don't
(08:18):
even know if this is a realthing, because honestly, not a scientist.
A lot of this and they're like, you know what, I think
Gray's a scientist. Well, I'msorry, Unfortunately I'm not a scientist.
But listen, though, Like howlong is a baseball out of the humor
door before it loses its humidis? Is that a thing that seriously is there
(08:43):
like a certain amount of time?Like if you're like, if the baseball
sitting in like the umpire's pouch fora long time, I don't give it.
This might be the thing, youknow why. I actually think there
is probably something to that. Towhat degree it matters in a half an
inning, I'm I'm not sure, but maybe there's something to him about as
(09:03):
the game goes on. But Idon't know because they placed the baseballs each
like any or a half inny andso I we'll just move on. First
thing we're gonna talk about, speakingof, I think Christian Yelloch gets those
twenty nineteen baseballs because the last twoweeks he's hitting three or six, three
home runs, one stone base, thirteen runs, nine RBIs. He's got
(09:24):
that launch angle up to nine onthe season, so he's finally above that
zero point five mark he set upfor a while, we're looking at the
resurgence of Christian Yelloch or is thiskind of a blip and and maybe this
is the time to go ahead andget rid of him. Yeah, I
mean I was actually in the firstcouple of weeks of the season, I
(09:46):
was really sort of I was worriedabout him a lot with his launch angle.
But you're right, I mean,in the last couple of weeks his
launch angle has come up a lot. So it's like, as of the
tape of this it's around nine, which would be his high since twenty nineteen,
which you know, I mean,I guess it's hard. It's hard
to account for twenty nineteen. Aswe were just saying, you know,
(10:07):
there was so much nonsense going outwith the baseballs. But you know,
if he's gonna hit fly balls, which he Christian Yellows hits the ball hard
like there was never an issue withlike how hard he was making contact like
that was always fine. It wasalways a matter of him hitting the ball
directly into the dirt, which waswhich is not good obviously, So the
(10:31):
fact that he's hitting more five ballsnow than he's hit since twenty nineteen,
his five ball rate is up tothirty four percent. In twenty nineteen it
was at thirty five point nine percent, So it's real, it's it's pretty
good, you know. And lastyear it was at twenty three point seven
percent to give people an idea.So obviously he's hitting the ball more in
(10:52):
the air and he's hitting the ballhard. With that combination, I'm kind
of interested again, Like I was. I was definitely concerned, like in
those first two weeks. But Imean, like I said, like I
always said with him, you know, the good thing with Christian Yelloch's he
was always gonna be in the middleof the order and he was gonna hit
(11:15):
the ball hard, so you know, he was gonna get counting stats to
a certain degree. He didn't strikeout a lot like there was never like
you know, with like you know, in the early in the preseason,
we were comparing him to Cody Bellinger, and there was always with Cody Bellinger
was always the issue with like ishe gonna strike out as a lot?
Is he gonna hit for a badaverage? Is he gonna hit the bottom
of the order? Like there wasissues with Cody Bellinger that never were there
(11:39):
with really yellows Like Yellich was alwaysgonna hit the ball hard. He was
gonna hit the ball, he wasn'tgonna strike out a ton, and he
was also going to be in themiddle of the order. So there's gonna
be some definite positives with Yelloch. And now if he's hitting the ball in
the air, I'm kind of interestedagain. I mean I was, like,
I was probably a little too hastyto get out on him early because
(12:01):
I did, like, I waspretty worried when his launch angle was like
really crazy low in the first twoweeks. But yeah, it looks he
looks better. I mean he does. He legitimately looks good. Yeah he
does. Um, I was definitelyoff the Yelloch. I own zero shares.
I think at one point on thispodcast I may have even discussed the
(12:24):
potential of like trading him for absolutelyanything. So, you know, my
bad on Yelloch. He does looka lot better. I guess the question
is now, Gray, now thathe's hitting better, are you willing to
potentially buy high on him in thehopes that he becomes kind of you know,
the old Christian Yelloch, which isthirty plus home runs. Um,
(12:48):
he's not gonna. I don't thinkhe's gonna get us twenty five thirty stolen
bases anymore. I think that's outthe window of the speed's definitely down since
that time in his in his career. But ten stone basis, twelve stolen
basis somewhere in that range. Doyou think that's yeah? No, I
think yeah no, I think twelvesteel. I think twelve steals is doable.
I think he's probably I would probablyput his homers around twenty five homers
(13:13):
twenty five twelve two seventy. That'snot bad. I mean that, you
know. I mean I think peoplecan sort of get a a good feel
for what that would be h for, like trade value wise, you know,
he's not I don't you know.I would say probably like top sixty
(13:37):
to seventy overall, Like I don'tthink he's Like, I don't think he's
a top twenty five player again,like I don't think he's there, maybe
top fifty. So, like youknow, I would say roughly in the
maybe a lower number one outfielder range. Not like he's still got issues,
(14:01):
Like he's not Like I said, like twenty five homers, isn't you know
that's not a number one. That'snot like a strong number one outfield or
like um, you know, Icould see him or like him or George
Springer, I guess is a tossup for me where Springer I worry about
his batting average and potentially injury concerns. Uh and yellows. I worry that
(14:24):
his launch angle will revert back towhat it was previously, so you know,
he becomes a groundball machine again. So you know, right now,
So there's some issues, there's somerisks there. But yeah, I mean,
I don't you know, honestly,I don't hate Yellowish as much as
I did two weeks ago. Ihave I don't have him in any leagues.
(14:46):
I have no um you know,I have no personal steak and yells,
I don't. I don't really careeither way. I'm just saying,
you know, from a an outsideperspective looking in, he looks better he
does. I would. I wouldbe interested if someone were to come to
me with a trade offer. Allright, sounds good, And I think
what you projected gives people an ideaof kind of where we're looking at in
(15:09):
regards to value for trades. Idon't think either of us is expecting vintage,
you know, number one, numbertwo, number three pick type of
Christian yell. It's but like yousaid, he could potentially be in that
outfielder one outfielder two discussion and kindof maintained that role for you. You're
(15:30):
right. I mean, the hittool never went away. I was just
he was just beating everything in theground and with the shift, it just
wasn't he just couldn't really do anything. So launch angle definitely and improved before
him. This week is a prospectto palooza. We got a ton of
prospects coming up or have already comeup within the last few days. But
between the last time we talked.Let's start at the top here. Royce
(15:54):
Lewis so far hitting seven through nineso far in Triple A this year,
over one hundred and seven played appearas he's sitting three, ten, four,
thirty five or sixty three. He'sgot three home runs, eight stone
bases and eighteen point seven percent krate a sixteen percent walk rate. How
much sire are you in Royce Lewishere? Who's coming in for Coast Gray,
(16:15):
who's got the finger injury. Yeah, well, I mean I was
really interested in Krey. I meanexcuse me and Lewis when I heard Karia's
finger was broken. Now that Ihear Kreia's finger is just bruised, kind
of less interested. I'm not.I'm not really. I didn't. I
didn't get Royce Lewis in any hmaybe I got him in a maybe I
(16:37):
got him in a redraft where Ijust picked him up off of waivers.
But you know, once I heardKarreya's finger wasn't broken, I think I
actually even drafted. I even droppedRoyce Lewis in the one league I picked
him up. I don't know itwas. It was our our CL twelve
team mixed league, so it's notreally a deep league. Um yeah,
I mean I would definitely grab haveRoyce Lewis, like he's sort in a
(17:02):
situation where, I mean, bythe time where people listen to this podcast,
Kraia could already be back, youknow, like when Craiz finger was
fractured. Supposedly then it was like, oh, you know, Royce Lewis
could have six weeks a time upin the majors to you know, show
something, and that could then youknow, and then if he showed something
(17:23):
good, that could parlay into himremaining up as like you know, in
a different position in the lineup.Maybe who knows, I mean, anything
could have happened if Royce Lewis wouldhave hit when he was after he was
called up, but now that hemay not even get a week's worth of
(17:44):
at bats, And yeah, it'slike yeah, I mean I'm interested in
long term because he's got great powerand great speed, but yeah, I'm
not super interested for re draft leaksright now, like in um, you
know, give people an idea.In my fab leagues, I didn't even
bid on Royce Lewis. I didn't. I didn't. I or maybe I
put in like a like a fiveor ten dollar out of a thousand,
(18:08):
that is, you know, soa very minimal bid. I think I
put him for a roy Sleis.I don't know what about you, but
I put I think I put aboutthree thirty three dollars or so around on
him in both TGFBI and the Wharfthe draft. So I believe I actually
(18:29):
got him in both of those forthat, you know, what's your an
amount to three dollars in a onehundred dollars budget league, So I mean
I spent a few bucks on him. But this is more speculative for me.
Just that's a thousand, a thousand. I was just relating it down.
So you know, if it wasone hundred dollars, it would be
a three dollars bid. Oh soI spent like thirty dollars and a thousand
dollars. So yeah, you know, I actually sorry, nothing's rough,
(18:52):
but I actually um and the peoplewho got him, Like today I was,
I had a little bit of regretthat I didn't put like because twenty
three thirty three, those kind ofbids are kind of they're they're like they're
irrelevant in a thousand dollars league thousanddollar fab Like it's like you said,
it's like a three dollar bid,so it's like nothing. So I kind
(19:15):
of regret not going after him forone of those type of bids because if
we find, like, you know, things all the time happened where like
Kreia could come back and reinjure himselfor like or they could be like,
actually his finger is fractured and thenand then you look brilliant for getting Royce
(19:36):
Lewis for only thirty three dollars. So I do kind of regret not putting
it because you know, things couldhappen where thirty three dollars and out of
a thousand is like nothing. Soyeah, anyway, go ahead, what
you're saying, I was just sayingthat it like you said, it's a
speculative pick up. So if hegets to stick in the lineup, if
something happens with Karrea, or ifthey stick him, if Kari goes to
(19:59):
DH for a little while, justbecause they don't want him making that throw
with a insured middle finger, whichis obviously very important on a on a
throw from shortstop, Royce Lewis couldget some extended looks. And if he
does hit well, let's not likethe Twins have a ton of bats that
needed to be crammed into this lineup, so I think he could. He
could definitely stay up for some periodof time here. Next up is Jose
(20:25):
Miranda. He was hitting sixth ingeneral, but he was hitting second yesterday
on Sunday. We're recording this Mondaynoon, My time morning for Gray.
So far in Triple A this year, in ninety five plate appearances, he's
hitting two fifty six two ninety five, four forty two with two home runs.
(20:45):
Not an amazing line, but youhave to remember last year between double
and triple A, he hit thirtyhome runs, four stone bases, three
forty four, four h one fiveseventy two. So this guy that has
serious, serious power. I meanhis hit to all last year looked great.
Hasn't quite carried over this year yet. But I think a guy that
(21:07):
you have to take a chance onif he's out there, What do you
think, Gray, Yeah, No, I agree, I think. Uh,
you know, I was saw hishomer on I believe it was Saturday.
I mean, he hit a bomb, he really like. I mean,
he really impressed me with how muchpower he had. I was I
wasn't sure if he had that kindof power. I mean he hit it
into the upper deck in Uh.I believe it was left center. It
(21:30):
was a it was a hit.I mean it was really it was a
far homer. It was I thinkit was four twenty five feet. I
think, um yeah, I meanI would say, you know, he's
like, you know, I thinkI compared him to another twin. The
twins have good contact guys. Uhand Miranda reminded me a little bit of
(21:55):
like Luis Arise, except with power. So, like Murray, a good
hit for a great average. Hedoesn't have any real speed, so I
mean I was I think I alsocompared Miranda to Tay France, so like
that could that sort of like headtool where he could hit, Like Miranda
could hit two eighty plus with power, um, no speed and you know,
(22:18):
decent counting stats. He's actually becauseMiguel SnO Went had an injury that
he needed surgery. Um, yeah, knee, he needed knee surgery.
So uh, you know, Ithink Snow's gonna be out for a while,
so Miranda's gonna have plenty of time. I'm I picked up Miranda everywhere
(22:40):
that I could, like, Ithink, actually, I think I do
still have Miranda in our RCL league. Um and I picked him up in
Yahoo Friends and Family, which isa fifteen team mix league. So I
picked him up in twelve team mixleague, fifteen team mix league. I'm
in on Miranda everywhere. Miranda couldpotentially be like one of the call ups
(23:06):
of the year if he continues tohit. And uh, like you said,
the Twins don't really have that much, So Miranda could hit at the
top of the order. He couldhit for power, he could hit for
average. He's definitely a guy thatyou know, other than speed. There's
really not a whole lot missing fromhis profile. So yeah, I like
him a lot. Yeah, I'mwith you. He went for more than
(23:29):
I was expecting in TDFBI and myother NFBC league. I think he went
for like three hundred in my inmy td FBI, which is more than
I had to spend on him.So yeah, but a great prospect for
Reference. Itch had him at fifteenin his preseason prospect ranking, So we
(23:52):
are talking about a you know, borderline elite type of guy here. George
Kirby got his first start on Sunday, looked great. Six innings, four
hits, seven k's, no walks, no earned in twenty four innings in
Triple A this year, he hada one eight two r a zero point
eight nine whip in five starts,in thirty two k's over those twenty four
(24:17):
and two thirds innings, thirty fourand a half k rate, five five
and a half percent walk rate orsorry, it was double A. So
I mean he was killing it inthe minors. He absolutely looked great in
his first start. Gray. Imean, if Miranda's the bat to be
all in on this week, Kirby'sthat aren't to be all in all right,
(24:37):
Yeah, no completely, you know, I think Kirby because like Kirby
has the great thing that you know, we always go back to with,
uh, you know, command, like if you're if a rookie has good
commands, then unless you know, something completely derails him, like, there's
no reason to think he's gonna haveyou know, a really like terrible starts
(25:02):
like the Hunter Greens of the world. You know, like there's like a
solid base, a good floor withGeorge Kirby where like he should be safe
ish. You know, no rookiepitchers are completely safe, but he should
be safeish and he's also got goodupside because like you know, I mean
(25:25):
he was. Yeah, I watchedhis whole start. I mean he looked
fantastic. He looked like, youknow, absolute like you know ace material,
you know, high ninety fastball,uh get it, like really hard
slider. It was just everything wasworking. I mean, you know,
(25:48):
it wasn't. The Rays are afairly decent team for on base percentage and
batting average, and they weren't reallyable to do anything with like you know,
like they weren't they didn't really workcounts or anything. Like he was
always around the plate. He lookedreally great. I mean, honestly,
(26:08):
he looked like the best rookie pitcherI think that I've seen this year.
Um, you know, I guessmy Joe Ryan I think is a rookie
technically, even though he pitched lastyear. So maybe so maybe Joe Ryan's
in that boat. But yeah,I think I think he was like I
think George Kirby. He wasn't availablein um NFBC fab this week because he
(26:36):
didn't pitch until Sunday, So rookieswho are just called up aren't in there
until they actually appear in a game. So he was, so he'll be
next week. I have a feelinghe's gonna probably go for a lot next
week, especially if he comes backthis week and has another gem, like
he could go for a couple hundreddollars out of a thousand. I wouldn't
(26:59):
be surprised if he goes upwards tolike, you know, over two hundred
and fifty dollars if he if hepitches well again this week, Yeah,
he's going to be an expensive armnext week if he puts up another outing
similar to the one we just saw. So get those checkbooks ready in your
NFBC or any FABI league. JuanYapez is the next one on our list
(27:21):
here. He's slotting in in thefive spots. So far for out,
he's hitting two seventy nine three twentythree six fifty one nine home runs in
ninety three appearances in Triple A.I mean, it feels like Juan Yapez
has a chance here to to kindof take a place in and the Cardinals
(27:42):
light up permanently, and I meanthey're sticking him at five right off the
bat, so they're not concerned withhim. Yeah, I know, I
wish someone would tell them about No. One Gorman. I was like,
yeah, man, No One Gormanand he's gonna be great. And then
they bring up one your Pez andI'm like, oh, okay, yeah,
(28:07):
I wish I would have got oneyour Pez then instead of Nolan Gorman.
Uh. I you know, Isaw, you know, for a
while they had Dickerson and m deJong as like the DHU the Cardinals that
is, they had Dickerson, CoreyDickerson and Paul DeJong as a DH platoon.
(28:32):
And you know, I said,I think I said like about two
weeks ago that Nolan Gorman was gonnaget called up and become the DH and
make those two guys obsolete. Um, you know, Sos ended up getting
injured, so Dejean went a shortbut Dickerson ended up getting benched for your
Pez versus Gorman. And now withI think if I mean, if I
(28:56):
were the Cardinals, Um, youknow again spoiler alert, I'm not the
Cardinals, but if I were,I would just go with Upez as long
as he's hitting at the age likethere's no reason to now, um,
you know, go back to Dickersonor Djong even when Socia returns. I
would keep your Pez in the lineupas long as he's hitting, and so
(29:19):
far he has been. I youknow, his profile is like he's got
a power like despair for sure,he's got a you know in um in
a triple a. Uh as yousaid, he hit like, you know,
crazy amount of power with nine homersin twenty two games. I mean
(29:40):
he's already hit one homer in fivegames with the Cardinals. I mean he
could he could be he could goon and become Rookie of the Year potentially
in the NL. I mean itcould happen. He could he could be
hot for the next five months, especially if say a Suzuki never gets another
hit. Uh yeah, I youknow, your Paz is definitely a guy.
(30:03):
I didn't. I didn't spend bigon him, but a lot of
people did. In fad this week, I uh, you know, he
was he was bought in my leaguesfor I think, uh, you know,
upwards to um two hundred dollars outof a thousand, at least one
hundred and twenty uh in other leagues. Um, and I think in my
(30:26):
NL only leagues he was already uh, he was already rostered and most of
them. Actually I think I actuallyI got him in my uh my home
league, but that's uh, youknow, that's a keeper league. So
I got him for a dollar.I don't I got him before before he
was called up. I believe Igot him. I don't know, maybe
I got him the day he wascalled up. Anyway, Uh yeah,
(30:48):
I think you know he's he's gotgreat contact, good plate discipline. Um,
he doesn't he doesn't really take aton of walks, but enough.
Yeah, I mean he could reallybe great. I have no thing,
like, I don't have any negativesto say on him, Like he's sort
of he reminds me a little bitof Jose Miranda uh in the NL.
(31:11):
Like you know, he's got nospeed, but he could have for a
decent average and some power. Soyeah, I like him. Yeah,
I think I think the average isprobably the different the differentiator here between your
pass and Miranda. For me,I just think Miranda's Miranda's floor for averages
is a lot higher than your passhere. Um, just kind of based
(31:33):
on minor league track record. Butthey both have power, so they could
both put up big power numbers. You're absolutely right about that, Um.
Moving on to Bryson Stott, whowe've talked about a little bit before in
the preseason when we had we gotall the short stops getting making the major
league roster. Um, he gotI have not been great, Um,
(31:56):
except Bobby. Remember remember when Bobwhat was gonna be a thing? We'll
get We'll get to him here alittle while. Um, But Bryson starts
back up. He's sitting there onthe ninth spot. Three thirty three,
three seventy five, six to eleven, two home runs, two stone bases
in thirty one plate appearances in TripleA. So I mean he's done his
job down in Triple A. Areyou interested in Bryson spot on the second
(32:21):
time around. Do you think he'sgonna get more playing time this time or
is this just a placeholder since they'vethey're just banged up. Yeah, I
think it's you know, once theDiddy comes back. I unless Stott is
hitting really well. I mean, they keep wanting Stopped to run away with
this job. I mean they're reallyit's sort of like the Alec bomb thing
(32:43):
last year, Like I'll give intothe Phillies. I mean, they definitely
don't hold back their guys like they'retrying. They're trying to get Stopped to
be a thing. But so far, you know, he hasn't really done
a ton in the major leagues,So I guess we'll see. I I
didn't really I didn't go after Stotat all. I didn't even put it
(33:04):
in a bid because he burned me. I don't quickly forget about that,
so he's on my shit list. But yeah, we'll see. Yeah,
I think I got him for likea nine dollars band and a thousand dollars
because I got outbid on all theother guys we've already talked about for the
most part, So I did endup a stot in one spot, I
(33:28):
think for a minimal bid. ButI'm just seeing if they actually give him
full playing time because part of theissue early in the season was they were
there's yanking him inte. I'll lineupevery day, and it's really hard to
get on track if you're not playingnext up. As Alec Thomas, he
was in the eighth spot on Sunday. In one hundred and sixteen plate appearances
in the minors, he's hitting twoseventy seven, three sixty two, four
(33:51):
ninety five, four home runs, three stolen bases. Alec Thomas Gray are
you are you more interested in inl Thomas coming up for Arizona? Uh?
Yeah, I mean I think youknow, he's gonna I think he's
gonna be a it's gonna be aslow drip on adding him in leagues because
(34:12):
you know, the Diamondbacks aren't reallythat interesting and hitting in the aid hole
and the Diamondbacks is just like kindof death. So it's hard to really
be too excited about that. ButI do think he's like, he's got
power and speed, which is nice. I mean, if he were you
know, I could see a scenariowhere he becomes like, you know,
(34:35):
uh, twelve team mix league viableright now. I don't think he's there
yet. I you know, Ithink he's probably at best a fifteen team
mix league guy. Um. Youknow, if he's uh you know what
to see. Like in the inthe minors this year, he was you
know, it looks like he's stillyoung. He looks like he's got good
(34:58):
power and speed, so like thatcould quickly you know, become relevant in
a lot of leagues. But yeah, you know, I wasn't. I
didn't go out and grab Alec Thomas, and I don't believe I did in
um, in any mixed leagues.I did have him, I think in
(35:19):
an L only UM and I uh, yeah, I mean that's good and
only obviously it's a good He's agood guy to have. But yeah,
you know, I'm I'm sort ofI'm sort of in a situation where I'm
waiting to see more from him atthis point. Yeah, I don't think
I got him either, because hewas gone already an LL only and I
(35:42):
I think he was too far onmy list down on my list for me
to get him in any NFBC leaguesthis year. But I'm interested a little
bit just because Arizona is one ofthose one of the teams where he could
definitely get a roster spot and ifhe hits well, he can move up
in the order very fast because theyliterally have nobody that needs to hit him.
Oh excuse me, hello, DavidParralta, excuse me, excuse me,
(36:10):
mister man. All right, theyhave one guy who kind of needs
to hit in front of him, kind of just so they could trade him
later in the season. Have actuallythe Diamondbacks, I think I said I
think I said this on the siteat one point, but the Diamondbacks have
like Kennel Marte and then uh eight, number nine hitters. That's their entire
(36:32):
Their entire lineup is like Kenel Marteand number nine hit There's a lot of
guys in the Diamondbacks lineup that wouldn'teven be a starter for a lot of
teams. Yes, they are.How long how many guys would have to
get injured for David Parlta to makethe lineup in New York either either the
Mets or the Eggs, Like, well, we have Aaron Hicks, Yeah,
(36:58):
we're playing him in front of David. I don't know that'd be that'd
be a close one. Well, you know, all right, so since
we talked about some prospects here,Grey, let's let's view into the glass.
Who are you stashing and say adeep twelve team or a fifteen team
league right now that you're kind ofhoping gets a call up or maybe you
(37:19):
know, maybe with your connections youhave some information for the people. I
should actually, you know, Ihaven't reached out. I should reach out
to a mission ask him about MaxMeyer. I feel like, you know
what he's gonna say to me.If I had to guess, I'd say
he's probably gonna say if an injury, he's the first guy up, That's
(37:44):
what I would guess. I mean, I don't know, but Max Meyer
feels like he could be up inany moment. I don't like, there's
no sort of unless like, okay, so if a Lacy or Hernandez is
actually injured and not just pitching likecrap, then maybe then maybe he gets
(38:07):
replaced. But right now, like, honestly, who do you replace in
the Marlins rotation besides Hernandez? Imean, you're not going to replace Pablo
Lopez, Trevor Rogers, Al Kantaraor Lozardo. I guess you replaced Hernandez,
But I don't know do you replacebecause because if you replace Eliza or
(38:30):
Hernandez, where does he go?Just just gets like he becomes a long
man out of the pen. Idon't know. I mean, I guess
that could happen. So, yeah, Max Meyer, I'm I'm already stashing
him, and I think two NIonly leagues. I'm stashing Max Meyer.
I would stash him in a fifteenteam mix league twelve team is a twelve
(38:53):
team mix is a little too shallow, I think at this point to be
stashing him. But yeah, Ilike him a lot. I mean,
I think Max Meyer could potentially belike, you know, an ace as
soon as he's called up, likehe looks like he is. He looks
basically like he's a number one starter, like almost immediately, you know,
(39:17):
like eleven plus k per nine, you know, great command, he looks
fantastic. Um, Okay, whoelse? Yeah, I mean Max Moyer
does look amazing. How about TristanKasas Are you interested in him? I
mean Red Sox are their offense isputtering to start the season, first base
is not getting it done for them, and Tristan is just raking. Yeah,
(39:43):
you know, it's so hard toknow with you know, because like
I mentioned before, with like NolanGorman, I thought he was coming up
two weeks ago because he had liketen homers in like twelve games. So
it's like really difficult to know.Like when a teams in a call up
someone like the Red Sox could useDuran, they call him up for a
(40:07):
day and then they send them rightback down. So it's like, I
don't know, Like I guess Casasis probably like he's probably up if I
mean at the latest, I wouldguess June first he's up, because you
know, there's no reason for themto keep playing Francie Cordero. But there's
(40:28):
really no reason to be playing Francieright now, and they're doing it.
I mean, got you know, rip to all my Francie Cardero sleeper posts
from the past years. But ifthe Red Sox front office is reading a
Francie Cordero sleeper post, please readthe year in front of the sleeper.
(40:50):
Is it twenty seventeen, No,it's not. It's not twenty seventeen,
it's twenty twenty two. I think, um, yeah, so I yes,
Casas is probably up within the nextmonth. But I don't know.
I yeah, I would definitely.I mean he's I think at this point,
fifteen team mixed league stashable but nottwelve teams, sort of the same
(41:15):
as Max Meyer, just you know, obviously a bat versus an arm.
Yeah, I would say he's uhyeah, I think that's probably about right.
I mean Tristan has probably a littlebit lower on my spectrum if we're
just talking bad versus arm, buthe has. I mean, he's an
amazing bat. So we will seewhat happens here. Next up on the
(41:37):
list here is Adlee Rushman. Wekind of I mean it's it's Baltimore.
They were not going anywhere. Sodo you think he's eventually going to get
the call? Yeah? No,I mean it's like kind of ridiculous that
he hasn't been. I don't know. I mean he was. I think
he was actually injured and it wasn'ta fake injury in March. Um that's
(42:00):
what I heard, at least,I don't know. Someone someone told me
it was a real injury, thatthey weren't faking it. So I don't
know. I yeah, I don'treally have I don't have any interest in
him really outside of like once he'scalled up. If he were available in
a shallow league, I would pickhim up. But I'm not stashing him.
(42:21):
You know, he's gonna be aHe's gonna be a catcher, and
not a very good one for likethe first year. I mean, he
might hit for an okay average, but he's not gonna do anything special like
a catcher. Wise, I don'tknow. I mean, maybe I eat
my words, but I don't thinkthis year is really gonna be anything to
write home about with him. Ithink he's probably gonna be, like,
(42:44):
you know, I maybe like atop twelve barely once he's called up,
that is so like, you know, or twelve to fifteen, like I
don't know Omar Navarrees or him.I guess him because of upside, but
Navarrez could easily be better. Yeah, I think I'm a little bit more
(43:06):
excited. I think once he getscalled up, he's I mean, he's
he said twelve, So I guesswhen I say he's he's a surefire,
you know, catcher one. We'renot that far off necessarily, but I
am interested as soon as he getscalled up, and he's potentially worth stashing
if you have the bench space. But as you mentioned it is catcher.
If you want one catcher league, you can always stream that position anyways,
(43:28):
So it's hard to ever stash acatcher necessarily. But he just has such
good such a good eye, suchgood back control, Like I think the
average alone is gonna make him acatcher one. And then if you show
some of the power, we'll seeif he can show that in the New
Baltimore Stadium. But at least he'sa switch hitter, so he doesn't always
(43:49):
have to hit in the now caverniusleft field. Yeah, yeah, that's
there, all right. One lastone here O'Neill cruise. I mean,
we thought he had a chance ofcamp. They said he was gonna break
camp. He's he's apparently not veryhappy about being sit down. In general,
I can't blame him. He couldbe riding first class in a plane
instead he's riding the bus. Areyou are you ready to roster O'Neill cruise
(44:15):
or are the pirates gonna drag thisout? Super two? Uh? Yeah,
I mean he's not exactly. Imean, just looking at his like
he's hitting one, he's hitting oneeighty nine, So I mean, if
he's not exactly making a strong caseto get called up. I you know,
I definitely I drafted him in abunch of leagues. I've dropped either
(44:37):
dropped him in uh redrafts, orhe's on my bench in I think in
my my n O only keeper he'son my bench. But yeah, I
don't have a ton of faith anymore. And like, you know, what's
gonna happen, Like when he's gonnaget called up, he could I guess
if he gets hot, Like atthis point, I don't even blame him
(45:00):
the Pirates because he's hitting one eightynine. I mean, what's the you
know, it's like there's no reasonto call that up. Like he's not
making a case for himself. SoI don't know, maybe he's you know,
when once he's called up, I'lldefinitely be interested in all leagues because
he has power and speed, soI'll I'll be grabbing him in like the
shallowest of leagues if he's called up. But I'm not stashing him really.
(45:23):
Yeah, I think I'm still acouple of weeks away from being able to
go ahead and stash him, becauseI do think mid June is probably the
earliest we're gonna get early to midJune is probably the soonest we're gonna get
to see him from the pirates. They just have no reason calling him up.
As you said, he's just nothitting. He's getting a little bit
better, he's putting his frustrations aside. I think getting back to just hitting
(45:46):
for a little bit recently. Butwe're gonna have to see a little bit
more before they call him up andstart his service clock. Speaking of prospects,
Joe Adele and Matt Brash both gotsent down. I had high hopes
for both of these guys. Um. I mean, they they flash at
times, but they are both alittle too volatile. Right now. Are
(46:07):
you holding onto these guys and sayyou're you're in your fifteen team nfbc's or
is it cut and grab something else? Uh? Yeah, I'm not I'm
not holding them. I think youknow Joe A. Dell. As of
right now, everyone in the Angelslineup is healthy. So even if Joe
(46:28):
Adelle's hitting, he's not gonna bean everyday player. Uh. And Brash,
as I as I said many timeson the site, or maybe I've
been said on the podcast, he'sway too He's got no command, So
it's way too risky to start Brashanywhere, It's like you're you're tempting fate
anytime you start them, even ifyou know, so, even if he
(46:51):
gets called up, I'm not interested, gotcha. I still have some high
helps for Brash. I have stillhigh hopes for a Dell as well.
But I'm with oh, yeah,oh totally if if situations change. But
right now, yeah, I'm withyou. I think they're cuts in NFBC,
which is fifteen teams, so prettymuch in anything that's not an only
league or a keeper dynasty, it'sokay to go ahead and move on.
(47:15):
I think Bobby Witt Junior, whowe talked about earlier, is starting to
hit. Hulu Riguez also starting tohit. Abrams is still splitting time,
but he's doing a little bit betterwhen he plays. Jared Clinic is not
hitting at all, and he's splittingtime. I mean, what are you
doing with these four guys here?I didn't want to go through him individually,
(47:37):
but let's let's talk Bobby Witt andJulie Oh. You're obviously keeping in
the lineups. They're playing every day. They're starting to hit, so they're
upside. We know what that is. Abrams and Clinic what are you doing
with there? Uh yeah, Ithink with you know, Abrahms, Like
you said, I mean when he'sbeen in the lineup recently, at least
(47:58):
he's hit a little bit. Soyou know, you can't I don't think
you can play Abrams in like mostleagues, like most Uh you know,
he's a tough play in weekly leaguesbecause he's not playing every day. Um
and then uh you know in inevery day what's McCall it, and um,
(48:19):
you know, in like daily leagues, I think if he's playing,
if he's in the lineup, likeI have Abrams in a fifteen team mix
league that's a daily league, andwhen he plays, I put him in
the lineup, and when he doesn't, I just take him out. Um.
You know. So I've been playinghim and that team is that team
is not doing awful. Give peoplean idea, like you know, it's
(48:42):
like, oh, yeah, I'mplaying. Uh it's like, oh great,
he's playing a guy on a terribleteam and he's doing poorly. This
sounds great. Um no, Imean that team's doing okay. So yeah,
and then clinic I was telling peopleto drop him in like shallower leagues,
(49:02):
you know, like most of ouryou know, most of our raiders
are twelve team mixed leagues or shallowerthat's actually most people I think fantasy.
But anyway, in that format,I don't know if you can really keep
Clinic around. I mean, ifyou have a spaw on your bench,
I guess. But he's just like, I mean, he's striking out so
(49:28):
much. There's just even if hewere to make you know, even if
you were to make hard contact whenhe's when he's making contact, it's still
like, I mean, he's gota strikeout rate that's going to produce like
a one seventy five average at best. I mean it's terrible. Yeah,
it's really like, I mean, you can't start that. Even if even
(49:49):
if the league average is you know, two thirty, it's still Clinics still
sixty points under that. So um, and that's it. If he were
to actually be hitting with neutral luck. I mean, right now he's got
a one fifty average. So yeah, I mean, I don't know,
I don't think you can hold thatin most shallower leagues. In a deeper
league, I guess you bench them. But I'm expecting Kyle Lewis to get
(50:14):
called up and Clinic to get demoded. I mean at this point, I
think you know something needs to change. I think Clinic is going to get
demoded. So we'll see. Iguess, yeah, we'll wait and see
on Clinic. Like you said,I don't think you can start him right
now and just about any format unlessyou're in an over league and he's literally
the only outfielder you got to makea league lineup. I think any other
(50:36):
situation you're probably benching him or cuttinghim, like you said, in twelve
team league, it's really hard tocontinue to wait on guys if your benches
fairly shallow like in our RcLs.If you have a deeper bench, yeah,
maybe you can hold on to himif if your outfielders are performing and
you can wait. But it justhasn't looked good so far to start the
season. Not saying it can't turnaround, but Luis Gusto is set to
(50:58):
return actually today as we're talking onMonday, are you looking forward? I
guess are you starting him? Itdoesn't matter really for our listeners, but
like, how early are you gonnabe comfortable starting Louis cast to you here?
Uh, well, I only havehim in a fifteen team weekly league,
so I started him because he's gonnaget two starts this week, so
(51:22):
maybe, I don't know. I'mhoping he goes four innings today and then
maybe five plus innings his next timeout. I don't know, and I
don't have high hopes. But youknow, in a weekly league, in
a fifteen team weekly league, youonly have so many options. So I'm
starting him. I would tell people, you know, in a twelve team
(51:45):
mixed league or shall er, you'reyou're you know, you're probably playing with
fire to start him the first timeout. But I think he gets a
decent matchup. I think he does. He get the Pirates, I think
later this week. I don't know. I think he gets a better matchup
later this week. So I thinkhe's decent as a like, um,
(52:05):
you know, in his second start, I think he's got a decent matchup.
So yeah, I mean, helooked good and rehab a little bit
wild. Command wasn't totally there, but he was striking guys out. He
didn't give up any runs. Soyeah, I mean, I don't know.
I'm I mean, I'm you know, uh hopeful, uh you know,
(52:25):
conservatively hopeful. I guess. So, I mean, I think fifteen
team to start. You know, that's that's the right time. I mean,
I want to go out and trade. I want to go out and
trade for him. I don't youknow. I you know, I drafted
him prior to finding out he hadarm injury, so I got I got
stuck with him. I wouldn't goout and you know, I wouldn't go
(52:47):
out and trade for him at thispoint at last. I mean, I
guess we'll see how he looks, but I'm expecting to not get more than
seventy five innings this year from him. So well, yeah, he threw
about seventy five pitches and his laststart went four to third innings, So
that's kind of what you're expecting atleast early on. Isn't that seventy five
(53:07):
to ninety range until he kind ofbuilds it up and go a little bit
further. I sat Luis Castio thisweek because I couldn keep him on my
IR for another week and just kindof watched this happen. So we will
see what happens in his return. But like you said, he was doing
fine, and in his minor leaguestarts that he had, he had three
binal league starts. Let's talk aboutShane Bieber's velocity. I mean, the
(53:30):
numbers are okay, but the velocityis down on Bieber. He's lost about
two miles an hour on that fastball. Are you concerned about Shane Bieber?
Would you be potentially looking to getout or is Bieber the type of guy
where you know, the velocity maynot be all that important. I was
out on him in the preseason.I told people not to draft him.
(53:52):
I was concerned about injuries. ThenI have nothing's changed for me. I
go anywhere near Biber. I think, you know, honestly, I'm surprised
that he's still getting rolled out there. I don't I don't know what's going
on. But if I were theGuardians and I saw like my ace throw
(54:15):
in ninety mile per hours, whichis down almost three miles per hour on
his fastball, and his k rateis, you know, barely in eight
k per nine, I mean thisstuff, it looks all. I mean,
his numbers look terrible. I'll behonest, I don't. It doesn't
look good. So, I mean, I don't know I would if I
(54:38):
had him in the league, I'dbe trying to trade him after like a
decent start. I mean, yeah, I have no faith in him whatsoever.
Unfortunately. I mean, I havenothing personally against them, but yeah,
I mean it doesn't look good.Yeah, it's hard to say after
watching him just get smashed by Torontothis weekend. But I still think I'm
(55:00):
I'm not overly concerned. I wouldcertainly trade him for draft day value if
I could, but I'm not panickingon Shane Bieber. I do think with
his control, with the way thathe can move the ball in every direction
and throw it to every part ofthe plate, I think he could still
be a you know, a usefulfantasy starter. The problem is, as
you mentioned, the k's are waydown, and so if you have built
(55:23):
your team on the perspective of himbeing a twenty eight thirty percent k rate
or even higher, then you mayhave to adjust kind of what you're looking
for, and in potential trade orpickups, you may have to go and
find yourself some more strikeouts or playthe two to start matchups a little bit
more aggressively. Yep, agreed. All right, let's finish us up with
(55:46):
some names to watch, some guysthat you can potentially pick up this week.
Gray, if you're looking to fillsome spots who you got, uh,
well, you know, Josh Winderlooks pretty good. I like,
you know, the Twins really developedwell with like, um, you know,
pitching and hitting in uh for realbaseball, at least for hitting,
(56:07):
because you know, they really areable to get a lot of guys with
great play discipline. And then forpitching they have a ton of you know,
they're really uh, they really honeguys command, which is really nice
to see for especially for rookies. So Josh Winder, I mean, you're
probably not gonna he's not gonna beGeorge Kirby. The ks won't be that
(56:30):
high. He might eat not evenhave an eight K per nine at the
end of the day. It mightbe like a high seven K per nine.
But he's got really good command. So you're looking at like a one
and a half walk rate. Iwouldn't be surprised to see him keep his
earra under three and a half, which for most leagues a three and a
(56:52):
half ARRA or under and a loweight high seven K per nine is probably
a five or six fantasy starter, which is for any league really, So
yeah, I mean I could definitelysee looking at him. Yeah, I
think something I don't know what clickedwith when there or if you know,
(57:13):
he's just finally getting his chance tostart. But he's gotten a couple of
starts after being kind of the longreliever, splitting starts early in the season,
and he's looked great against Oakland andTampa Bay. Oakland, you know,
maybe not a whole lot to writehome about, but at Tampa Bay,
as you've mentioned earlier, that's athat's a strong performance against a team
that really is a patient, patientoffense, and you know obviously does the
(57:37):
numbers splits wise. There's also downthere in Georgia where you're at their Spencer
Strider, which I don't even know. I don't know what his role is
going to be. I don't knowif they're moving him into the rotation I
haven't heard. Have you heard ifthey're moving him into rotation, I haven't
heard. I haven't heard officially thathe's getting a rotation spot. But there,
(57:58):
I think he is feeling going tofill in that stretching there. It
seems like they're stretching. I thinkhe's gonna be the first sooner than later.
Yeah, you know, I actuallyif Strider is stretched out, that
makes him more of a lunger.Hey be donna. H dad joke.
Hey, not a father, butI'm making a dad joke. Is that
(58:20):
okay? Okay? Um there's otherguys so um. You know, Brandon
Drury uh to sound like a drunkfather. Brandon Drury has been hot.
Ramone Loriano just came back from asuspension. Hopefully he learned his lesson to
be uh a a real dad.Hey, I hope you learned a lesson,
(58:44):
Ramone Loriana. All right, don'tmake me be your father. Uh.
Dane Dunning really kind of interested inDane Dunning. He's got a you
know, he's got a decent Capeernine. I was actually so Dane Dunning
funny story that's not actually funny.I was looking to draft Dane Dunning last
year and he really sort of burnedme bad. But this year he looks
(59:07):
like what I was expecting from himlast year. So we're talking like,
you know, he's got a greatpark around a nine K per nine,
decent enough command. I could seeDane Dunning being valuable for any league,
really, for even shallow or mixedleagues. Maybe ten team is a little
(59:28):
too shallow, but maybe a twelveteam mix league and Manuel Margo has been
crazy hot and he looks like fiftycent. I mean, what else do
you want? I mean, yes, Margo finally finally breaking out. We
kind of mentioned both Dunning and Margolast week, and you know, Margo,
we were both kind of in onDunning. We said at Yankees,
(59:51):
so you probably wait. But nowhe looked great at the Yankees, so
hopefully you grabbed him and you canstart him this week. I believe he's
got Boston, which is not asscary as it once was to go to
Boston. So I mean, Dunning'slooked looked pretty good and some some tough
matchups here, and I'll just lookthroughout mikeel Franco real quick. If you're
looking for a corner infielder, notreally going to give you much beyond some
(01:00:15):
runs and some average. But ifyou're just looking for somebody sticking at corner
infield, he has been performing andplaying fairly regularly, So I don't mind
