Speaker 1 (00:08):
What up, brass ballers. Welcome back to the program. It
has been a minute, good evening everybody. Jefferson and Sky
with you on a beautiful Friday evening. Heading into the weekend.
We are hot into NFL free agency. We have the
MLB around the corner. We got Opening Day next week,
(00:29):
very excited about that. NBA and NHL and full swing.
And of course we have March Madness thrown down right
now as well with the first round. Very excited about that.
If you're new to the program here, we have been
out for a couple of weeks, just kind of catching
our breath after a long twenty twenty four season. But
we're here and ready for you all off season long.
(00:51):
We got Texas Tech and the Ducks represented in the tournament.
Excited about that. We're gonna order the NFL free agency
winners and losers for fantasy football once again. My name
is Sky Guasco. I'm your host, sk Y g u
a Sco on X and you can find my man
jeff at Jefferson Underscore Underscore two, Underscore Underscore twenty one
(01:14):
on X as well. You can find everything rasball on X.
At Rasball NFL, you can subscribe right here to the
YouTube channel, and of course you can download the podcast
as well. All articles are available at football dot rasball
dot com. And I just disappeared. Can you hear me, Joe?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I can hear you.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Great, Well, let me see if my camera's gonna work
for a second. I'll be right back. Nope, my camera's out.
It's all good. This is for the podcasters. Then how
about that we'll see what happens moving forward here. I'll
try to make some adjustments on the fly once we
get going. But those of you that can't hear me,
(01:52):
you can download the podcast of course, or you can
boot up here on the YouTube channel. As always, you
can jump into the comment section you can let us
know how you're feeling about the free agent so far
in the NFL season. We do have a number of
premier players yet to sign as of this episode on
March twenty first. Once those drop, of course, we will
be up to date with you, and again all the
articles and updates available for you from all of our
(02:14):
great writers for free at football dot rasball dot com. Jeff,
let's get right into it, man. I'm gonna try to
fix my camera here for the YouTubers while I give
you the floor. But how we're gonna do this is
basically lay out by position. I'm just gonna rattle off
four or five names at a time, premier names, old team,
new team, what it's looking like, and I want your
(02:34):
top dog and who you're most excited about at each position.
Let's just get it started here and we'll start with
the free agent quarterbacks. We have Geno Smith going from
the Seahawks to the raid Is Sam Darnold from the
Vikings to those Seahawks replacing Geno Smith. We have Justin
Fields going from the Steelers getting a starting role for
the Jets. Of course, Aaron Rodgers now out of town.
(02:55):
He has yet to sign as of this podcast, but
maybe in Pittsburgh we'll see. And then Jones going to
the Colts. So Gino Smith, Sam Donald and Jameis Winston.
I'm sorry, Justin Field and Daniel Jones. Who is your
most excited about? And also throw in the wild card.
I was gonna mention him later, but I just did.
(03:16):
Jamis Winston signs just minutes ago before we went live
here with the Giants, UH for two years, eight million dollars.
So Gino Smith, Sammy d Jamis Winston, Justin Fields and
Daniel Jones. Who's your favorite. I'm gonna give you the floor.
Try to fix my camera.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, I'll go fix that camera. But for me, I
think there's two guys that I really do like of
all of them, I think Sam Donald has to be
the winner. I do know the offense is going to
change in Seattle a little bit more balanced. But he
leaves the Vikings, goes to Seattle and he's gonna have
you know, Jackson Smith and Jigba now Cooper cup who
(03:54):
signed there as well, Mark haas Van, Marcus Valdez Scantling
and Kenneth Walker and Zach Charboney two good pass catching
running backs. So really like where he landed. I wasn't.
I was very surprised he ended up in Seattle. I
really thought he'd end up with the Rams. But I
think he lands in a good landing spot with a
(04:16):
good offense. They still have Noahfan there, so it's like
he I think Geno goes to a worse situation. Yes
he has brought Bauers, but all the other pieces aren't
really there. I think Sam Darland goes into an offense
with all the offensive skill positions that are ready to
play day one, so I think we'll have a smoother transition.
(04:36):
I do like him going to the NFC West as well.
You know, the Cardinals not the best on defense, the
Rams are still really good. The Niners or the Niners
will see how they're rebuilding. Ends up, but I think
he ends up in a really good situation for the
course of next season and then the second player for me.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Is going to surprise some people.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
But I'm actually excited for Justin Fields to get the
starting job potentially with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Again, good skill positions.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I think they're going to sign a receiver which will
help him in that and that perspective because he has
Garrett Wilson former teammate, so I think those two will
just be dialing it up left and right. I'm assuming
Garret Wilson will be getting a ton of targets a
game from Fields because Field has proven that he can,
you know, solidify w R one and we'll see how
(05:32):
the offense is tailored to him if he's gonna still
be running a lot. I know with Pittsburgh he had
some up and downs. That was a one year deal,
just trying to figure out if he was going to
stay the starter there, but I think he signed with
the Jets to be the long term quarterback there, so
hopefully of the confidence and we'll just ball out. And
I think in the AFC East, I mean, it's a
(05:57):
winnable division. I know the Bills are the best and
that though, but no one really scares me going up
against teams twice a season. So I think Fields will
surprise some people and put us some really good numbers,
you know, not a QB one, but like in two
quarterback leagues, they'll be a solid QB two.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I like that. I'm gonna throw a Jamis a bone.
Of course, we're all excited about him in fantasy. He's
horrible for NFL. He just is. Last year he was
with the Browns thirteen touchdowns, twelve picks, twenty one hundred yards.
He just he's fine, but he's not a great NFL quarterback.
He's talented, which is why he keeps getting jobs, and
he's great for like NFL media, so he keeps getting jobs.
(06:37):
But for fantasy, he's a lot of fun because his
mistakes do not end up so bad that we get
rid of him. Right, He's just still fun with is
running gun. I could see Malik Neighbors having a Mike
Evans type season, which I would love to see, right,
I mean literally, like fourteen fifteen hundred yards and twelve
(06:58):
to fifteen touchdowns with Jamison and Malik Nighbors is already incredible.
Missed a handful of games last year as a rookie,
he was still a top five wide receiver per game.
He was number two per game really for most of
the season, So I would I love Malik Neighbors here.
This is an upgrade for him, and I do like
Jameis Winston with the New York Football Giants, and then
Daniel Jones, you know, he's in a race with Anthony
(07:19):
Richardson as well. And then we'll see what happens with
Gino and Sam Darnold, you know, moving in and out
of Seattle. That'll be interesting there, all right, Just a
couple of other names, Jeff, I'm just gonna throw a
bunch of other quarterbacks at you, not necessarily exciting. Most
of these guys probably won't even be Fantasy relevant, but
I just want to throw them at you and see
if anybody sticks to the wall. Here. Let's go Mason
Rudolph back with the Steelers, Jimmy Garoppolo with the Rams
(07:42):
behind Matt Stafford, Josh Jobs of the Patriots from the Niners,
Mac Jones to the forty nine Ers, Kenny Pickett from
the Eagles to the Browns, and then Cooper Rush from
the Cowboys to the Ravens, and Garner Minshew backing up
Patrick Mahomes. And of course he'll never sniff the field
unless Mahomes were to get injured. But do any of
those guys, I mean, we're talking, you know, either dynasty
(08:02):
for the younger guys or we're just talking deeper super
flex leagues. Any of those guys gain your interest?
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well, I would say Kenny Pickett. As of the recording
of this podcast, no one knows who is going to
be the quarterback for Pittsburgh, and he returns back there
after backen of Jalen Hurts for a couple of years
in Philly, and as of right now, I think he's
the starter. What didn't you say, can you Pickett?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Can you Pickett signed with the Browns?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Browns? I'm sorry, I thought you said the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, yeah, No, with the Steelers. That was Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Going back to this Mason Rudolph, So I mix it.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
So back to my answer, Mason Rudolph got those switched up.
But yeah, I know he's the starter there without anybody
else there. I mean, they got Skyler Thompson backing them
up though, but whoever's quarterback in the Steelers gets dk
Metcalf and George Pickens and Pat Firemouth, So whoever takes
that role, I like it.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
So as of right now, Mason it off as looking
like a good guy to go have.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Of all the other backups, I probably prefer him over
everyone else, just because he has similiarity with just the
Pittsburgh organization, and then just with the skill positions around him.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Nice I like it. My camera went out again, folks
on YouTube. It is what it is. We've been off
the air for a couple of weeks, so my camera's
a little tired. I'll get this updated later, but I
don't want to mess with it while we're live. So
y'all can look at the ancient fairgrounds of Candlestick Park
where I grew up watching Giants games, Niner games, outdoor
Sharks games. We had monster truck rallies here. It was
(09:36):
a pretty incredible spot before they blew it up unfortunately,
and now the Niners are in fake San Francisco, which
we don't talk about. All right, Jeff, Let's move on
down to the running backs. A lot of movement here
for the running backs and a lot of fantasy potential.
Pretty excited about this position. Let's talk mainly about the
players that moved first, we'll come back to the guys
who didn't move, and we'll move on. And also, I
(09:58):
guess I should just mention because Russell Wilson and Aaron
Rodgers have yet to land per this podcast on March twenty. First,
we will see when they do, and once they do,
we will write them up and we will of course
bring them up on the podcast, but we're not talking
about them yet because they don't have a home as
of this podcast. So we're skipping Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.
All right. For the running back position, let's talk about
(10:20):
the guys that did move. So Naji Harris goes from
the Steelers to the Chargers, Jordan Mason goes from the
forty nine Ers to the Vikings, Rico Dawdle from the
Cowboys to the Panthers, and then a couple of other
auxiliary names that aren't that exciting in my opinion. Let's
talk about those couple of guys first. Who is the
most exciting for you? Naji Harris from the Steelers to
(10:40):
the Chargers, Jordan Mason from the Niners to the Vikings,
or Ricodowdle from the Cowboys to the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yeah, for me, it's Najie Harris.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
I did a little of an article, a little off
season fallout article in rasball dot Com.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
You can go check out.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
I really like Najie Harris to the Chargers. As I
mentioned in our article, I think this might be the
best fit of a free agent going to a team.
He's replacing JK. Dobbins, who's also unsigned that as of
this podcast. Surprisingly but JK Dobbins had a resurgence of
(11:18):
a career from weeks one to eleven, he was RB fifteen.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And I think Nijie Harris has.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Becomes the every down back and a run heavy offense,
and I just I can just see him just putting
up solid RB two numbers all season long, with little
spurts of RB one finishes. But he's gonna have a
reasonable price in drafts unless things change dramatically though, So
really like what he ends up in a really good offense.
(11:49):
All the other running backs I know, Aaron Jones resigned
with Minnesota, so the Jordan Mason is really interesting, just
because we all know that running backs produce in Minnesota.
So if Aaron Jones does miss time, I think Jordan
Mason is set for a really big season as well.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Oh you're muted, yep.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Thank you. Got some tech going on here. I'm trying
to be careful with it. So the handcuffs are not
as exciting generally with free agency, but again, anything can
happen in preseason. Hopefully not there I go again. It's
like Stranger Things, Bro just killing me. Not a sponsor,
but maybe this is more entertaining to just watch me
(12:34):
glitch out instead. Maybe I'm a hologram. You guys don't
even know. Anyway, Aaron Jones getting to start there, I
like that a lot. And then Jordan Mason great backup.
Jordan Mason was awesome behind Christian McCaffrey last year when
he had a couple of games, but then he got hurt,
and then we had Isaiah Carendo, and then we had
you know, four other running backs like the forty nine
ers always do. But I do like that quite a bit,
(12:54):
and I'm with you. Najie Harris one year, ten million,
basically nine point five with incentives. They're gonna use him,
as we know, and he's an upgrade over JK. Dobbins
and Gus Edwards, so I like him a lot. With Harbaugh.
In fun fact, Harbaugh did bring in Najia Harris to
Michigan when he was there at school, and he of
course ended up going to Alabama. Najia Harris did, but
(13:16):
they have kind of like a half rapport from a
few years ago, so I like to see them getting reconnected.
All right, I'm gonna throw another handful of names again.
Most these guys are backups at this point, but they
did have fantasy relevance at one point in their career
and they could pop off again. I'll just run through
them real quick. See if you're excited about any of
these guys. Aj Dillon missed last year for an injury,
(13:36):
but he goes to the Eagles, backing up Saquon Barkley.
Miles Sanders from the Panthers to the Cowboys, Javonte Williams
from the Broncos also to the Cowboys. So you got
Miles Sanders, and Javonte Williams heading over to the Cowboys,
with Rico Dada leaving. Elijah Mitchell longtime forty nine er
goes to the Chiefs. Then you have Raheem Moster from
the Dolphins to the Raiders, Kareem Hunt resigns with the Chiefs,
(13:58):
some agp Ryan Tied Johnston, Kenneth Gainwell, Khalil Herbert, Alexander Madison.
We got to handle other guys as well, moving around
any there jump off the page for you.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah, No, it's just I think those guys are just
a lot of depth pieces. So we'll kind of wait
and see how the giraffe falls out and kind of
see who falls aware on the pecking order. Kind of
going back to my article I did. I don't like
the Javonte Williams signing for the Cowboys. Same with now
with Miles Sanders joining, there a lot of question mark.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Who's going to be the guy?
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I did actually was intrigued by Elijah Mitchell going to
the Chiefs, but then Kareem Hunt signed afterwards, and it's like,
now you've got three running backs, so it's like, what
what's happening? A lot of teams are bringing in two
three running backs and so like, I don't know if
we're going to be turning the page, like Saquon is
a unicorn in the NFL and every other team is
(14:53):
going to strictly go committee based now it's really interesting.
Or if they're not going committee based, just gonna sign
a player like a Najie Harris so one year ten
mill and say, hey, you're the guy we're gonna afford
to run into the ground, but you're gonna get all
the carries for one season and then we'll see what
ends up afterwards. It's kind of interesting to see how
this all plays out.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah, it's really tough there, and then you know, Isaiah
Checo's coming back to who was fun to start the season,
got hurt, came back and he was fine. But yeah,
a lot going on with the Chiefs. You can't really
trust them anyway. I do, Like, I mean, I like
Javonta Williams over Miles Sanders in Dallas, but I don't
know if I love either one of them necessarily.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Yeah, I neither one of them were and they probably
bring in exactly that's that was gonna lead to the Yeah,
they're gonna probably draft him, So then you have that,
So it's kind of like gotta wait and see on
some of these teams. I know it's early, but it's
just it is interesting kind of where players do sign.
Is it maybe a tell of how these offenses are
gonna potentially look or run. That's kind of what I'm
(15:54):
looking at on who signs where. But the Cowboys, they're team.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
They need a lot of.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Piece of that offense if they're all in with Dak
And I don't think Miles Sanders or Javonte Williams really
moved the needle on the running back position, So I
don't know those are the depth guys to kind of
teach Jeffrey once he gets drafted by him and kind
of see what happens.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
You are our main dynasty coverage for rasball, so again,
all your articles available for free at football dot rasball
dot com. Viewers go check them out right now, mostly
dynasty content. Jeff for you one guy, I'm biased, of course,
I'm a Niner Homer and Raheem Moster. It's a forever
Niner for me, but he's thirty two years old and
(16:38):
he should be absolutely free in dynasty, and right now
he's the best running back in Vegas. In my opinion,
we saw what he did a couple of years ago.
I mean, I think you know Sincere McCormick was kind
of fun on waivers for a couple of weeks last year,
but that didn't really pan out. They have to draft
(16:59):
a run back or two, so we'll see what happens there.
So Rheem Moster's probably RB two or three going into camp. Nonetheless,
you know, we've been saying this for years. He's an
old running back in age, but he's not old in mileage,
right because he didn't really do much the first five
years of his career due to injuries and other things.
So just keeping ony on Raheem Mostert. If you need
a depth piece in Dynasty, he should be absolutely free
(17:21):
or like a fourth round pick, because he may just
not be in the league next year. And in Dynasty
that kind of stuff doesn't matter. So redraft obviously is
much different. We'll see what happens with the draft, but
in Dynasty he could just be a free depth peace.
Kareem Hunt is another guy that you could just probably
grab for free, you know, Somaj p Ryan, maybe Alexander Madison.
Any of these guys are depth pieces. But nobody should
(17:42):
be attached to them in dynasty, and you never know
what's going to happen over the next four months of
draft and then.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
You know.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Early camp and things like that with injuries or you know,
trades and stuff. So just keep an eye on some
of those free names. A couple of guys we didn't
talk about because they haven't landed yet, but I'll mention
their name you mentioned JK. Dobbins. Hope he finds a home.
Jalen Warren should be back with the Steelers. Technically he's
not yet, but he's a restricted free agent, which means
he will be. He just isn't technically. And Nick Chubb,
(18:13):
I mean poor went out for Mitt Nick Chubb absolutely
sad everybody's favorite running back outside of PPR leagues. He's
an unrestricted free agent, so he'll probably end up back
with the Browns, but technically he could leave under certain circumstances.
Named cam Akers who's kind of coming gone as well,
So we all need to talk about those guys, but
just a heads up that they hadn't quite signed yet.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yes, speaking of dynasty is one thing. AJ Dillon.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
He is a guy that's probably very cheap to acquire
I know, but got a lot of burn last year.
Makes you wonder can you repeat that again?
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
He wasn't always the healthiest of players with the Giants.
So I think AJ Dillon is a guy if you
can get in dynasty they're talking about free agents, that's
a guy to try to trade for. I think it
surprisingly gets some burn maybe next year.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Nice good call, and again I mean he's fine. I
think in the Eagles offense he could be a monster obviously,
right because I like what the Packers do, because the
Packers at the West Coast offense, ay the Shanahan tree,
YadA YadA, Right, it's fun. But AJ Dillon can catch
the ball, I think, better than people gave him credit
for at Boston College. But he's not like a pass
(19:31):
catching back. He's a monster. He's Josh not Josh Jacobs,
Brandon Jacobs, Mike Alstott, some of those like just big guys.
But he's athletic and I feel like if anything happened
to Saquon hopefully not obviously, but if they just needed
some mix up, he's bigger than Kenny Gainwell was right.
He's bigger than Boston Scott had been for a long time.
He's bigger than Miles Sanders was over there, so he
(19:52):
could hopefully not take away from Saquon. I don't think
that'll happen. But if Saquon needs a blow, I think
he's gonna be just fine, you know what I mean.
So I I do like that as well. And who
knows what Secon does over the next couple of years.
That's a good, good deep deep grab.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
And the one last, one, last guy I want to
talk about. I mentioned him in passing, but Rico Daddell
Lee's the Cowboys goes with the Panthers, who just resigned
chubuhober to a nice deal and then they spent a
top pick on Jonathan Brooks. Does he have value anymore
as the third back? Jonathan Brooks, No, Rico Daddle, He's
(20:28):
gotta be a third now, right? Or see what is
he up in Jonathan Brooks in your eyes?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I mean, dude, there's there's there's a very I mean,
I'm just a doctor, so what do I know. But
there's a very great chance, unfortunately, that Jonathan Brooks doesn't
play this year, and depending on how recovery from a
second torn up negos, he might not be ready for
week one next year. You know, I mean, like, dude,
(20:54):
this is brutal. Like the kid was incredible at Texas,
so we're gonna give him, you know, we're going to
give him multiple opportunities to make it happen. The only
thing there's two players I keep coming around fantasy circles
that kind of give us a little bit of hope.
But you got to think of these guys' careers and
you're like, yeah, they were fine, but not what they
(21:14):
were supposed to be. Jaya Jayi, who was awesome for
a couple of years, right, but he had terrible knees
at Boise State, and then he came out ripped up
another knee in Miami. Then he went to Philly and
had a resurgence. But then Deonta Foreman, who also went
to Texas and he was an animal at Texas, came out.
We're all super excited about him. Kind of had the
(21:34):
bo Jackson injury where he's like knee hyper extended on
a tackle. He was out for like what two and
a half years, you know, and then he came back
he was like okay, And then now he's been decent
when getting opportunities. But we're talking five years later into
his career, and with running backs, dude, these kids are
in their prime obviously from twenty two to what twenty five,
(21:55):
So when you get to twenty six years old, even
if you become healthy at that point like where he did,
he's really an anomaly. That's why we keep talking to
him like that, because when these guys get injured in college,
maybe high school even, and then in the pros too,
and they're still trying to produce at a high level
in the NFL, Like, you can't outrun guys, you can't
move the way you used to, you can't avoid tackles,
(22:17):
and then you risk more injury. So I love Jonathan Brooks.
I mean we all did last year when he came out.
We're all hoping for the best, but to have basically
a similar injury right after his miss season is pretty brutal.
So I just don't hold a lot of hope in dynasty.
You have to keep him on your roster or go
get him for cheaper than he will ever be just
(22:40):
on the like, maybe it'll work out, but I'm not
excited unfortunately. So yes, I do think ric o'dowdell absolutely
has and Rico Daddle had a hell of a season
last year with a shitty Cowboys team. To be honest
with you, right, I mean he was good, So yeah,
I mean he's not going to be a game wrecord,
But are the Panthers going to be in general? No,
(23:02):
are the Cowboys going to be in general? Who knows
what Dak coming back? So I would hold faith a
little bit. I think Rico's cheat. All the Panthers are cheap,
and I would go get any of them if you
just need depth and hope for the best. All right,
anything else on the running backs before we moved to
the wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Just one last one. One last team that needs a
running back. That's the Bronco.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
I'm curious of all the free agents, Dobbins, Chubb, any
of them go to Denver. They look like a destination
for players in free agency right now.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, I mean probably JK. Dobbins because he's the most
healthy between him and Chubb unfortunately, but I could see
him both going. If they both wanted a one year
deal for like five grand or five grand five million
just to play, I'll pay yeah grand five million to
just to have a roster spot improve themselves. I think
they both take a shot. Honestly, dude, I could see
(23:56):
Sean Payton, you know, making making lemonade out of whatever
he's got. It's going to be bon Nicks and slinging
it all over the field and playing defense. We saw
last year he had two and a half decent running
backs and he played five. So I could see him
just picking up a lot of late round picks, you know,
(24:16):
and maybe a couple of these guys drop off into
like a practice squad around the league, and he signs
one of those dudes, you know, or like an Alexander Madison.
You just get like a veteran leadership kind of a
dude on the roster and they wing it or they
jump up in the draft and look for a running back.
You don't really see that in today's NFL too much
outside of the top dogs. But the Broncos might do
that because I mean, you and I are huge bon
(24:38):
Knicks fans, of course, but they're pretty solid everywhere else,
and they made some big moves as we'll talk about
here in a second with a tight end things. So
I can see them making a move for running back.
But I'm not just quite sure that'll go yet. All Right,
As a glitch out. Let's move into the wide receivers.
A lot of fun here with the wide receiver position.
(24:58):
Everybody's been talking about t Higgin. Obviously, going back to
the Bengals, a lot of us assumed that would happen.
It did. Four years, one hundred and fifteen million dollars.
He gets signed on the same day as his boy
Jamar Chase. If the Bengals don't win a Super Bowl
in the next four years, the NFL is definitely rigged,
and Joe Burrow should absolutely be a top two or
three Dynasty and everything else quarterback while he's healthy. Then
(25:22):
a lot of other names Jeff of Mathew Matchew DK
goes from the Seahawks to the Steelers, Deebo Samuel from
the forty nine Ers to the Commanders, DeVante Adams from
the Jets to the Rams. Chris Godwin re signs with
the Buccaneers number two wide receiver whin healthy last year
in fantasy football obviously he was a couple of years
ago as well with Michael Thomas. He gets a three year,
(25:43):
sixty six million dollar try again with the Buccaneers. There
love that for Baker, and then he got some other
lower level guys we'll go into for a second here,
but I will mention Cooper Cupp who lands from the
Rams to the Seahawks. So once again, that's DK Metcalf
going from the Seahawks to the Steelers, Deebo Samuel from
the forty nine Ers to the Commanders, DeVante Adams from
the Jets to the Rams. Then you have Cooper cup
(26:06):
going from the Rams to the Seahawks. Chris Godwin and
T Higgins both re signing. So Jeff, I'll let you
cheat the system a little bit here. Let's not necessarily
talk about Chris Godwin or T Higgins. We know that drill.
They're both gonna be awesome when healthy. Skip them. You
can list one or two other guys who had moved
that you're most excited about.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
I think for me, I'm really excited about Deebo Samuel
going to Washington. Cliff Kingsbury's has a very interesting offense,
and he's and he's proven he could do it with
Jayden Daniels, Kyler Murray. I think Deebo adds a new
wrinkle into that offense. But again, like anything, he's got
(26:48):
to stay healthy. If he doesn't, then this is a
this is a terrible comment. But if Deebo is healthy
with Jayden, Dan, Jaden Daniels, Terry McClure, I think he
can be you in a different way than he was
used maybe in San Francisco. So we'll see a different
results from Deebo. But again, you know we don't. I
haven't seen it on field, though, but just seeing how
(27:10):
Jayden plays, I think Debo will mesh well. There another
guy that I actually love, Cooper Cup going to Seattle,
actually going back to his home state with Sam Donald.
I think that offense is going to be well balanced,
and I think we're going to see some better numbers
from Cup and I'll probably be healthier, I think. But
(27:31):
time will tell two guys that I'm not so hot on.
The first one is DK Metcalf. Just do not love
that trade. Going to Pittsburgh with Arthur Smith. We all
know Arthur Smith is the bane of fantasy football players.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I hate the guy.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
I don't want to hate the guy, but I just
hate his offense for fantasy purposes.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
It's just it drives me nuts.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
He has George Pickens to get targets from and they
don't have a.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Core back, so it's like, what are you expecting.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
From Dk Metcalf, I wrote in my article you could
check out. You know, Metcalf had a twenty one percent
target share in Seattle and Pickens had twenty seven percent.
I just don't see how both of them can both
get at least twenty percent each. And if neither one
of them is getting twenty percent, I don't see how
(28:24):
they return their value in fantasy drafts. So I just
don't like that set up there unless they bring in
Aaron Rodgers. And maybe it's interesting because Davante and Garrett
Wilson were relevant and for the Jets last season though,
But if they don't, I don't like either one of
those receivers in Pittsburgh unfortunately, just based on their offense
that they're going to be part of.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Fair enough, was there another guy you weren't excited about?
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah, the second one. This one might be a little controversial,
but I could I could sway. But it's Davante Adams
going to the ramses.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
I know, I saw the chats.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I was like, Ugh, not gonna like that. But you know,
I think this is a pukkakua offense. I think I
look back in the early Sean McVay air with the Rams.
When it was Robert Woods and Cooper Cup, everyone thought,
at least I did, that it was going to be,
you know, two receiver party. But Robert Woods tanked, didn't
do so hot, and then Cup was the guy, and
(29:24):
then he got hurt, and then Pupa came in, and
then Puka was the guy. Cup kind of fell out
of the favor and now he's gone. But I just
wonder if Pooka and Davante kind of similar to DK
and George, can they both coexist. Matt Stafford hasn't been
a top fifteen quarterback in two seasons, so I just
(29:44):
wonder if he hasn't been top top fifteen, can a
non top fifteen quarterback produce, you know, two top twenty receivers,
because Davante and Puka will be drafted as such. So
that's why I worry on looking far ahead in ADP. Now,
if you can get the in around six, seven, eight,
that's a steal. But I think people are going to
(30:05):
take Davonte rounds, you know, fourish five, depending on how
mock start turning out. And I think at that point
in drafts, I'm looking up by my RB two and
that's been in that position. So I don't want to
burn a valuable draft selection on a on a first
year receiver and a new offense with a new quarterback
(30:26):
who hasn't established receiver one. So that's why I don't
really love the Davante Adams. But he's still going to
be a good player. They don't get me wrong, But
I just don't think he's going to return the value
that people expect.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Yeah, fair enough. It will be interesting to see what
he's able to do in that. You know, as a
quote unquote number two, you and I were talking kind
of pregame about that. I actually really like it that
this is the only one I'm going to be contentious
with you on. I hear you on DK Metcalf. I
my hope if I am a dynasty person with the
I'm not drafting him in redraft. I just don't want
(31:00):
a piece of it. But let's say right now, we'll
play fantasy fantasy football and Aaron Rodgers does end up
in Pittsburgh. My only hope for DK Metcalf is that
he becomes He won't be DeVante Adams, but if he
gets the work that DeVante Adams did in the red zone,
especially I'm gonna turn off my camera everybody, because I'm
gonna drive you guys insane. I'm sorry about that. If
(31:20):
if we can get the if we can get the
opportunity that he did with Devanta Adams where he's hyper
targeted in the red zone, he's getting the first down,
looks the third down, looks he's getting the you know again.
I mean DK can run now DeVonta Adams can't run.
He was still getting the work from Aaron Rodgers. So
(31:41):
if he Harper targets that person, I think that would
be DK because Aaron Rodgers wants to do put in
the in the effort, and DK will do that. George
Pickens doesn't seem like that kind of dude. He's a dog,
but he doesn't seem like the effort kind of guy.
And Rogers's old school and wants that right. That's why,
like Alan Lazard is his favorite guy because busses ass.
So I think DK will be that dude with the
(32:02):
resurgence there in Pittsburgh. So that's my only hope for him.
But with Devonte Adams with the Rams, I just think
Matt Safford's got plenty. He's supported two or three wide
receivers multiple times throughout his career. He's gonna be just fine.
Puokah's gonna be that guy. Kyroen obviously in the run
game is gonna draw a lot of attention. And I
think that, you know, while Puka's stretching the field, you're
(32:24):
gonna have Davonte Adams over the middle just racking up
Cooper Cup targets. I think that's possible. So I actually
really like DeVonta Adams right now. He's going as the ECR,
which is expert consensus ranking throughout the industry. He's the
thirty sixth pick, so he's basically the back of the
third round. If I get DeVonta Adams in the fourth
round Jeff as my second or third wide receiver, that's
a steal all day for me. You don't have to
(32:45):
spend a first round on him anymore, right, And he's
a fantasy goat, right And obviously he's over the hump,
but last year he didn't slow down. He just needs
the opportunity. So I really actually do like Vonte Adams.
So we'll see what happens with him long term. Okay,
a couple of the names I wanted to throw at
you kind of down the list a little bit, see
how you're feeling. Stefan Diggs unsigned, Keenan Allen unsigned, Amari
(33:07):
Cooper unsigned, Tyler Lockett unsigned. But we got Joshua Palmer
going to the Bills, DeAndre Hopkins going to the raven
the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Excuse me.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Christian Kirk uh don't even think he played for the Jags,
but he was once the first and highest paid free
agent by the Jaguars a couple of years ago. He
goes to the Houston Texans. Dianmi Brown gets another opportunity
with your Jags, and then there's a bunch of other
guys here, Mike Williams going back to the Chargers, I
like from Pittsburgh. And then there's a couple of the
(33:36):
new guys, you know, Nick Westbrook, Akine who hasn't done
much other than score touchdowns, but he's with the Dolphins now.
DeMarcus Robinson goes from the Rams to my Niners. A
bunch of other guys had just kind of re signed
with their team. So it's a lot of names. Jeff,
does anybody jump off the page in that lower tier
of wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, I think Actually, Christian Kirk is going to go
to a good situation in Houston. He's gonna be the
clear number two pass catcher there, and they need pass
catchers and just they don't have the health. Digs is gone,
So I think he's going to go to a situation
where he will be the safety blanket and can Gardner
(34:13):
you anywhere between you know, seven to eight targets a
game potentially. I know Nico is the guy there, but
I still think if Kirk plays that role like he
dad with Trevor year well with Trevor, I don't see
why he can't repeat that in Houston. You know, we
saw a little bit of the Houston offense kind of
(34:33):
come back to earth a little bit last season. Fired
the o C who was the hot candidate two seasons
ago gets fired in mid season.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
That's wild.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
So here see how the offense turns around. But honestly,
it starts, you know, with the quarterback and the quarterback play.
So if they can get it together, I think Kirk
can revitalize his career in Houston. He'll hold me back
in Texas. Yeah, he's from Texas, so I do kind
of like that for him. The other receiver that I
thought was interesting was Hollywood Brown returning to Kansas City.
(35:05):
We don't still don't know what's gonna happen with Rashid Rice.
Still that kind of felt of the waist I went,
he got hurt. NFL still has to make a decision
if they're going to discipline him or not. So if
they do, Hollywood Brown could be the receiver one potentially,
you know, I know the guys, if you're worthy, they're
still but it'll be a year or two, so you
(35:26):
kind of Hopkins is gone now, so so kind of
like that for him as well.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
And then the other receiver that I thought was really
interesting they caught me off guard was Joshua Palmer.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Uh going to Barlow like that was?
Speaker 3 (35:42):
That was? I was like, it was a head scratch,
a kill. They just signed Khalil Shakur took a pretty
good deal too, and then they signed him to like
a pretty decent deal, And I was like, huh, I
guess they think those two guys are gonna be the
you know, the star wars out wide for josh Allen.
So if they think that, then I'm on board.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
You know.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I was in the camp that Allen's going to have
a bad year last year with no receivers proved me wrong.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
So he doesn't need him.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
I mean he really doesn't.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
It's like Cam Newton for years. I mean he had
Steve Smith, but like and yeah, Kelvin Benjamin Devin had
a good season. Yeah you know, so, yeah, I get it.
I was gonna bring up Josh Palmer too, And I
follow the money. It doesn't always pan out like the
guys that good. All the money and all the years
and the money of the contract tell me, Jeff is
(36:30):
how much the team believes in them. And what happens
from now until the end of that contract is who knows.
It's up to the fantasy gods. Right, guys can over
over exceed obviously and get resigned. They can just fall
off a cliff. We see it all the time. But
three years, thirty six million dollars right, quick math, twelve
million dollars a year. That's good money for a wide receiver.
(36:51):
DeAndre Hopkins got a year for five right, Christian Kirk
got fourteen million converted into his signing bonus mark. He's
Brown eleven million and Deanni Brown ten million, who's much younger.
So I like Josh Palmer a lot, loved him at Tennessee. Obviously,
he kind of got shoved down the depth chart early
with the Chargers and then last year just couldn't stay healthy.
(37:13):
But I do think he's got some opportunity there. I
like that one a lot pop quiz just for shits,
because I think some of this stuff is kind of funny.
Who's older? Who's older? Christian Kirk or Marcus Brown?
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I want to say Christian Kirk okay.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Twenty eight, Christian Kirk twenty seven, Markus Brown. I don't
know why I feel like Markus Brown is like thirty two.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Because yeah, well this is on the league.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Yeah, will because he's played on a handful of teams
and just feel like he's been I think relevant longer
than Kirk because Kirk kind of fell off a little
bit with the Cardinals, then he got signed with the Jags.
But Hollywood was hot for a minute when he first
came his rookie year with Baltimore and then he's just
been changing teams.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Can get a can I get a shout out for
a sneaky re signing of Darius Slayton for the Giants
with Jamis come into town, he.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
The Giants might be okay, Actually, offensively.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yeah, they're gonna yeah, I mean, let's I mean, Jerry
Judy became a Pro Bowl this year, so the neighbors
already that and now the other pieces they'll be very entertaining. Nice,
but it makes you wonder, are they going to draft
a quarterback and have Jamis leed the show for a year.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Well, if they draft somebody in the first couple of picks,
then Jamis isn't going to start. They have well who
knows man and in this day you know, now, I'm
gonna sound like my dad. In this day's NFL, they're
gonna draft a rookie quarterback and throw them out to
the wolves.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Right.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
But the classic example, Steve Young was kind of the
og with the Montana drummer drama. We saw how that
panned out. Steve Young became his own Hall of Famer,
Aaron Rodgers, Hammon and Han pissed off blah blah blah.
He became his own Hall of Famer. Patrick Mahomes classic
behind Alex Smith, blah blah blah, Like start the kid,
top ten pick, YadA YadA, he's Patrick Mahomes. So not
(39:04):
everybody that's gonna sit a year or two on the
bench is gonna turn out to be one of these guys.
But there's only a handful of dudes that really can
go from the from college to the pros and exceed well.
And I just don't. I mean, Brian Dable could have
a lot of fun, but he's on the hot seat.
Everybody in New York's on the hot seats. So whoever
this kid is that they pick because they're gonna pick
(39:26):
a quarterback either as a two year plan of like,
all right, well, we're gonna pick him, We're gonna mold him,
We're gonna turn him into Josh Allen, who, let's all forget,
was terrible for two years, and Daniel Jones was okay
as well under Dable, So like, can we mold another
kid or we're gonna throw him right out there? And
Jamis is a perfect Giants are you know they're not
gonna win the division with the Eagles and the Commanders
(39:47):
and the Giants or the Cowboys, So why don't we
just let Jamis play the first eight games, no matter what,
no matter what he's Jamis right, and just give this
kid the rookie whoever it is, time in the film
room and on the sidelines and warm ups and all
the shit, and give him an opportunity because too often, man,
we see these kids thrown in there. Marcus Mariota is
(40:08):
the one I think about all the time, like he
was a stud Heisman Trophy winner, but like NFL ready
maybe not, and he just didn't get a chance and
he got hurt and he's been gone. But like, what
a hell of a talent that just never panned out.
It's insane. So hopefully that'll work out. We'll see what
they do on draft day. But either way, the Giants
are going to be fun for fantasy. One of these
like bad teams, but fun for fantasy. We have them
(40:31):
all the time, all right, Jeff, Let's get into the
tight ends. If you don't have anything left.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
For wide receiver, Nope, that's it, all.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
Right, tight End's not much going on. We don't really
talk about tight ends in fantasy football anyway, but there's
not really a lot of movement. The big one, though,
would be exciting. Derek and Matt Styles were both very
excited about Evan Ingram last year, rightfully, so they should
have been. We all kind of were. He was mid
as the kids say, and he was fine most of
the time when healthy, but Trevor got hurt and then
(40:59):
blah Mac Jones and like it just was weird. Evan
Ingram now goes to the Broncos. Love this for Bo Nicks.
I'm not gonna steal your thunder, but I love this
for bo Knicks as a bow Nicks homer, and also
for Sean Payton, who's blown up a number of tight ends,
So I love that in the offense there Other than that,
the only Fantasy relevant name that you know even moved
(41:22):
it all is Tyler Conklin going to the Chargers. I'll
let you talk about those guys in one second. Everybody
else that was just a re signing, but I just
want to recap those real quick. Mi Kasicki gets another
chance with the Bengals. Zach Ertz returns, thirty four years old,
returns for the Commanders, solid, solid, streaming tight end last year.
Don't forget about him. Then you have Juwan Johnson, who's
(41:44):
been hit or miss with the Saints back with the Saints.
Did Jaguars sign two tight ends but they're both blocking
tight ends Johnny Munt and Hunter Along, Yeah, they're both blockers.
And then Tommy Trimble, who we've kind of been waiting
for in Dynasty back with the Panthers, and then Austin
Hooper Dala style high school out of the Bay Area
(42:05):
goes back to the Patriots as well. So not much
to talk about it as far as movement, but give
me a few minutes on Evan Ingram and Tyler Conklin
going to the Broncos and Charges, respectively.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
Yeah, I think Evan Ingram, this one surprised me. I
didn't think the Jags were gonna let him go, and
they did, and they traded Kirk and then and he
lands up in Denver, which Sean Payton had been talking
about this joker position for weeks leading into free agency.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Everybody was like wondering, like.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
Who the hell is he talking about joker? Then we
found out because in the past he had mentioned running
backs being a joker position. He had mentioned tight ends
being a joker, so it was like no one really
knew what he was referring to. And then he gets
his guy and Evan Ingram, and he just has a
great history of getting the most out of his past
(42:57):
catching tight ends. And I just look at Evan Ingram
going to the Broncos offense with Sean Payton couldn't have
been a better situation. Kaye Naji Harri is just a
perfect situation for him. They don't have set a number
two look at legitimate pass catcher there the man. They
got some options there, but Evan Ingram clearly is going
(43:18):
to be the number two passer catch an option for
bow Nicks out the gate, and you know, he's just
he's reliable. He was reliable for Trevor. He was good
for a young quarterback. Bo was young as well. Young
quarterbacks tend to fall heavily targeting those tight ends in
(43:38):
those situations. He didn't really have a great titand last year,
so he did have to rely on the running game.
So maybe he doesn't run as much bo Neicks.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
Next year.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
He might be, you know, dropping off to Evan Ingram,
you know, since he has you know, his a dot
of what eight last year or five something crazy with
the Jags, like he had no yards after the catch,
just kind of short passing got tackled. So I don't
know if he played that kind of role, but I
do see Sean Payton bring it in Ingram to use him.
You don't bring in a guy like that not to
just use him as.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
A good decoy.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
So I think Evan Ingham could have a really big year
for the Broncos, end up being a top five tight end.
I don't think he'll be drafted as such, but I
can see him ending the season top five. Everybody thinking
why didn't we see this coming when it seems pretty
evident to me already.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Yeah, I agree with all that. Man, I'm more excited
about Evan Ingram. I just think he's it's gonna be awesome.
Sean Payton, I mean, you know, I think back to
Jimmy Graham and some of these other guys. I just
think he's gonna be great there. And of course I
think the Broncos are going to do well. Also, I
do think they're gonna draft another wide receiver able to
get my boy Tesz Johnson an opportunity. Tesz Johnson and
bow Knicks are actually step brothers, so hopefully they'll get
(44:47):
an opportunity there back from their days in Eugene. And
then Tyler Conklin. I think it's just fun. You know,
Justin Herbert likes his tight ends as well and maybe
get another opportunity. And we know that Harbaugh and Greg
Roman also like their tight ends too. Shout out to
my boy Vernon Davis back in the day for the
forty nine ers. All right, Jeff, that's about it there
(45:08):
for the tight ends, we broke everything down here. We
got again a lot of names, you know. I mean
there's like IRV Smith, Remember he was fun to pretend
was going to be good for a while, Hayden Hurst,
I mean, just going down to the list. C j Uzama,
a couple of these old old school guys. Gerald Everett
was fun for a little bit, Donald Parham. Just unfortunately,
(45:28):
the tight end position is just so bare these days.
So outside of dynasty or like a deep throw or
something like that, this is not going to be an
opportunity anybody else that we didn't cover that either isn't
signed or is signed and we didn't mention, or just
a super dart throw that you're excited about.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
Yeah, the one.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
There's one receiver that I'm really keeping an eye on
that I think could be a difference maker on his
team and could provide w R three value, and that's
Keenan Allen. Oh, yeah, hearan rumblings that we just talked
to about. Mike Williams reached out. I tell him to
come back to the Chargers, which would be interesting if
he goes back there with Herbert McConkey, Like, what does
(46:08):
that offense look like with Keenan Allen.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Back pretty sick and they have quint Quentin Johnson.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Yeah, so it's that's kind of interesting offense if they
air it out a little bit more with Nauci back there,
you could do that.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
So I'm really curious to kind of see where he
ends up. Like is the Jags the Cowboys?
Speaker 3 (46:26):
They need a second receiver, So are they drafting one
or are they going to sign one? Because you still
also have you know, Stefon Diggs is out there, but
his health now, I think he's on the back side
of his career. So I think Keenon Allen is the
top receiver out there. So that's who I'm really keeping
an eye on as we head into I guess the
draft and later in the offseason to see how injuries
(46:48):
play out and OTAs and all that, because that's right
around the quota.
Speaker 1 (46:51):
Surprisingly, pop quiz, who's older Stefan Diggs, Keenan Allen.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
I'm gonna say Keenan Allen.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
Let me throw in Amari Cooper and Tyler Lockett as well,
Stefan Diggs, Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, and Tyler Lockett.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
I'm gonna throw about Lockett because I remember him a
case state.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
Lockett the oldest Logott is thirty two. Are the rest
of the guys older.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Younger, younger, they're probably like thirty one. No, Keenan Allen's
got to be older. Uh no, yeah, so we're gonna
go Keenan Allen, Locket and the rest are under.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Okay, Lockett and Keenan Allen both thirty two, I'll give
you that.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Stefan Diggs at thirty one, and Amari Cooper somehow still
the youngest.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
I remember for years when he was at the Raiders,
where like he's only nineteen, he's only twenty one, He's
only twenty two for like five seasons. I'm like, what
the fuck? He went to Alabama like seventeen years old
or something. What the hell? Yeah, pretty epic, But it'll
be interesting to see all those guys land, right. I mean, yes,
they're on the backside their careers whatever. But if Stefan
(47:54):
Diggs can stay healthy. Amari Cooper had a resurgence in
about four games last year with some opportunity with the Bills.
Tyler Lockett, I mean, I think it's fine. He just
is not Jackson Smith and Jig but or DK Metcalf,
so he got totally shoved away in that offense. But
Tyler Lockett's going to be an awesome number two or
three somewhere.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Well, I would be surprised if he goes and follow
Pete Carroll to Vegas because the Raiders they need a
guy there and follows Geno. It makes sense that'll be
that seems too obvious, but maybe it's not.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
It's not too obvious, and what the Raiders need and
they've needed my entire childhood as a forty nine er fan.
The reason we all bank on the Raiders is because
they're class clowns. The organization is horrendous. They just are,
and then they're bad. So Pete Carroll coming in as
a good clubhouse guy, and then you get you know, Gino,
who's fine, he's not gonna get in trouble, and all
these other cats trying at least like clean up the
(48:44):
image of the Raiders over these years. Tyler Lockett's a
great leadership clubhouse guy, you know, I think would be
really awesome and then of course Max Crosby on the
other side, who's a lifetime Raider. Well, they all say
that he'll be gone soon, but I think that's, you know,
going to be interesting. So love it. Well, that's gonna
get it done. Here for our free agent episode, we
hit almost an hour. Nice job, Jeff, it's good to
(49:05):
talk football again.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Man.
