Speaker 1 (00:09):
What's up Rasbell Nation tonight. It's just Davy Cruz and myself.
The parents are not here, so the kids will play
as they say so will be us too, hosting and
talking all things ras bull and some training camp things
that we're noticing, injuries, things were worried about, what we're

(00:30):
excited about moving forward, and then just here to have
a good time to talk football. I'm jeff Or Jefferson
Underscore Underscore two to one on X and mister.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Cruz here at Cruiser one two eight on the X.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Be sure to subscribe to all Things ras Ball on
the YouTube channel Hit the Bell so you don't miss
any upcoming podcast as we get you ready for all
your upcoming fantasy drafts and so, Dave, I'll start with you,
how are you feeling about rasball so far?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
I'm having a great time, you know, I'm you know,
I'm feeling a lot of questions and you know, just
trying to make sure that everybody has the most information
while I try to learn how we can make the
NFC experience a good one for everybody. Everybody has been

(01:21):
pretty cool. I've been talking with some people that've been
sharing some information that has been really helpful. Our draft
is getting pretty close to the end. We're in the
middle of around sixteen. Bob Loung is on the clock
and I'm sure he's probably he may time out tonight.

(01:43):
He's probably on his way to the Fantasy Football Expo
up in Camton, so, you know, but the rents are
out of town. They left the car keys on the counters,
so you and me are going to drive the car
and try not to put it into a ditch.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
No promises, nope.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Well, fortunately for a lot of our Rasbull Nation, you know,
NFL preseason is underway, but we got some games going
on right now, ones at halftime and ones in the
third quarter. Colt Ravens, Bengals, Eagles. So it's really cool
to finally have a podcast about football and football being
live as well. It doesn't always happen that way for us,
so hopefully everyone's watching us in the games on their phone.

(02:29):
It's like a multitask. But uh, let's just start with
some rasboll how's your team looking right now? What are
some players that are that are exciting you the most
right now?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
I'm actually pretty happy with my draft. I mean, you're
never gonna get everybody you want, and you know guys
are gonna Guys are gonna fall, and you're gonna have
to pivot the other guys. Uh. Probably the one pick
I made last week that I'm I'm pretty consumed about
is Joe Mixon. I mean, as we get closer to

(03:03):
the season, the news just isn't getting better. I don't
know that it's getting worse. But what ends up happening,
in my view with NFL and the injuries is as
time goes on, information gets disseminated in drips and drafts,

(03:24):
so every I know Joe Mixon had a foot injury
in twenty twenty that limited him to like six games.
Don't know if this is related to you know this
five years later, but my, my, the foot injury that
sticks out to me is Darren McFadden and I think
it was about twenty eleven, had what turned out to

(03:48):
be a List Frank injury, and for like ten weeks
it was it was the water torture where you know
every week he would be getting better and you know
he's got a chance to play this week, and you know,
you get to Friday still be on the injury report,

(04:12):
and you know he wind up not playing and as
it turns out, he ended up not playing the rest
of the season. It was you know, his season was
over after six games. So when I hear foot injury,
that's that's kind of where my mind goes. I know
everything isn't equal, but hearing Joe Mixon has a foot

(04:33):
problem and now he's going to miss some time. The
funny thing is when you're doing drafts, and I'm doing
about seven drafts right now, you see the market correct
in real time, and on the sites the projections don't.
So you know, you still see Mixing ranked in like

(04:57):
the top sixty overall, but he's one of the As
we get into the like the one twenties and stuff,
he's still on the board. So the market kind of
takes care of itself a lot of the times. So
I think I think that also kind of gives an
insight to how people are feeling about the Mixing injury.

(05:18):
So I know, Derek and I kind of had a
little argument on our last show or a couple of
shows ago about mix In and Chubbs Nick Chubb's role
being with the Texan, and the funny thing is we
both drafted Joe Mixon as a flyer hoping the injury

(05:39):
isn't too bad, so hopefully we get a good result
from that. But right now I'm a little bit nervous.
So and how about you, how are you feeling about
your team?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
I'm really liking my team.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Our conversation about the Texans running backs, it was actually
funny because I ended up taking Marks on the sixteenth
round in my ras Boll team, and I know I
kind of mentioned that I would probably stay away from
the Texans running back room and a redraft league, but
in a Best Ball or a dynasty, I think I'm
all over Wood.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
He marks right now.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
I think he's he's slowly climbing my dynasty ranks because
all three running backs are hurt right now for the Texans,
and he was a fourth round pick, so not the.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Best draft capital.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
But you know, he was a serviceable running back at USC,
really good pass catcher. I think that was going to
kind of be his role entering the season. But if
Mixing and Chubb are really hurt and from you know,
you know the Twitter doctors online, which were funny they
come out of the woodwork at this time of the year,
but you know, some of them are you know, kind

(06:49):
of concerned about the mixing and Chubb injuries and missing
time right now, so there may be some validity behind
the concern, and if there is, I think wood he
marked is the name even Damian Pierce that will slowly
climb up, you know, rankings as we get closer to
week one, if they're still missing time and there's no

(07:10):
clear indication on timeline severity of it.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
And it kind of as you mentioned, like.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
We never get all the news right away. You get
it in pieces. You know, you might find out something
in two weeks from now. We're like, oh, if I've
known that two weeks ago, wasn't that big of a
dealer just resting him. But so it's like you really
don't know. You can't get too crazy with the news
or think the worst of it. So the time at
Telsey how that plays out. But with my team, you know,

(07:36):
I went two tight ends really early. I took McBride
third and Kittle in the fifth. I feel like I
got two of the best tight ends you know in
the league outside of brock Bauers, that play receiver roles
on their teams. So I think I'll have potentially an
advantage there by playing defense and getting two tight ends
while also having an offensive strategy with having kids my

(07:59):
flex for the year.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
So I do like that.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
My running backs, I'm actually excited about I got Bucky
Travian Henderson, really excited about him in New England. I
think he's gonna do some things. He's a fiery god.
I don't know if he saw some training camp. He
kind of got to altercation that costs Mike for Able,
so I think blee out of the scuffle. So if
he can pass protect for Drake May, I think he's

(08:24):
he could really take the lead role for New England.
I can't quit my Jags, and I appreciate you telling
everybody that I'm a Jags homer. I think people need
to be aware of that. I love my Jags, but
I promise no bias. But I do think Travis et
and does have a bounce back here. I mean, just
two years ago he was at RB three overall on

(08:44):
PPR and everyone's now writing him off for by shall Tooton,
you know, fourth fifth rounder. I think for the Jags,
and I'm like, he's he's in a contract year.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
He wants to be there.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Just I don't see the reason why people are fading
him so much like to get him on the ninth
round again. I don't want to have a bias, but
I feel like maybe that's a steal, you know, I
don't know. And then also kind of leading to the
training camp news. You know, I have a Javonte Williams
the running back one for Dallas right now. They've got

(09:19):
injury woes. Miles Sanders Blue their rookie injured as well
today in training camp, so that's not good. So you know,
the Cowboys had a top twenty running back in Rico
Dada last year, and Javonte just has to be average
and you know he's gonna put up value. So getting

(09:40):
him in the tenth round in basketball, I feel pretty
good about that. And then I think my favorite pick
is gonna be Joshua Palmer. I love that Hard Knocks
return this week. I'm a sucker for all training camp
videos on Twitter, much less the shows.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
It's all Bills players boosting.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Up boards now as usual depending what team is on
Hard Knocks. But I think Joshua Palmer actually has a
legitimate chance to get some legitimate, you know, targets from
josh Allen. So far, he's been really good at camp
Josh Allen's throwing his way, looking his way, He's catching balls.
Khalil Shakur, hurt Ankle maybe questionable week one already, So

(10:24):
now that whole receiving Corps and Buffalo is wide open.
Key On Coleman's very athletic, still very raw. Elijah Moore
is kind of intriguing two for the Bills because you know,
he was pretty good for the Browns first stretch, but
then their quarterback play kind of pushed them out. They
brought in Judy, So it's like, I don't know, the
Bills receivers are kind of interesting in a best Ball,

(10:44):
even in a Reed Draft league moving forward, so see
what happens there. So I think I'm feeling pretty good
about my team right now in Bestball, I have picked
eighteen coming up, so just three more picks and nineteen
will be complete and we'll see how it goes. It's,

(11:04):
you know, one thing that always fascinates me in a basketball,
especially in a raz ball like this in Bastball.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Of when quarterbacks go.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I know with some of the guys they were talking
about some team hadn't taken a first quarterback to like
the tenth round, eleventh round, some had two or three
of that point, so with a lot of different strategies
and when quarterbacks should go not go. So that's always
fun to really see that. Anything else that has to
to you so far in your drafts.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Yeah, I mean, and this is one of of the
unfortunate things in the NFFC draft rooms is you know
you've got that, you've got the stats from the previous season,
but it's one of the one of the participants noticed
that the part of the quarterback stat points count wasn't

(11:57):
counting passing yards. So I tried. I tried to let
people know that pretty early on, and you know, I
reached out to NFFC to see if something could be done.
Never hurt anything back. But so if they're just looking
at the points from quarterbacks, I think there may be

(12:19):
some undervaluation of quarterbacks. And I don't know what kind
of advantage noticing that and other people not would give.
I think it probably evens out pretty well in the end.
And I'm going to continue on my thought. But we've
got some people in the audience here and I'd love

(12:43):
to say hello to him. Jamie. It's always good to
see you. We're here having a good time. We thought
we would probably only get a fifteen or twenty minute show.
But we've been battling already for about fifteen minutes, and
I don't think we're going to slow down anytime soon.
Bob Goldman's here with us. What's going on, Bob, It's

(13:05):
it's always a good day to do a show and
talk football, especially with the with the real first week
of preseason starting tonight and RAS Bull drafts probably are
going to be wrapping up in about the next three
to five days. I know our draft is in the
middle of the nineteenth round. I've got the next to

(13:28):
the last pick left for my team. Jamie says he
agrees with Jeff on on the ETN on the ETN take,
which is always fun. It's always nice to have somebody say, Okay,
that sounds good to me. You get plenty of the

(13:48):
other the other takes on social media. Bob says he
got eleventh round ETN. He's feeling pretty good about that.
And Bob Bob says, his league, his RAS Bowl league,
is in the sixteenth round. And I know, I know, unfortunately,
one of the people that has been having a lot

(14:10):
of trouble entering his draft room has been our our,
our fearless leader, mister Glosco has reached out to me
a couple of times. He's about the only one I
haven't been able to get taken care of. I don't
know what the problem is. I need be fun to

(14:31):
see what he's doing face to face, but that's probably
not going to happen. So we'll figure things out. We'll
figure things out eventually, but.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
I'll have to try to find an IT guy for
us next or maybe.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Yeah, well, I mean I don't think it's an IT issue.
I think what what as far as the play NFC
app is going, that's the end of that's an end
of life product. It's not even on on the on
the it's not even on the on the Apple Store,
and I probably can't imagine it would be on the

(15:09):
Android Store either anymore. And from what I understand, one
of the one of the the guys reached back out
to me and said, there's no real replacement for it, So, uh,
it's it's kind of it's if you use it, you
got to kind of understand that there's no help if
you have a problem. I know we were having a

(15:31):
lot of SQL issues, and uh, I had that SQL
issue I saw at firsthand, but after a day it
went away. So I know using the app, I'm going
to use the app myself until the wheels fall off.
But the fact of the matter is that right now
there's no replacement for it. I see, Bob says down here,

(15:54):
the app is being redeveloped at this point in time.
It it may be in the redevelopment stage, but no help.
And Bob says the email if we've.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Found an it guy, yeah, you jumped to two. I'm
gonna say we found our IT guide to you.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Yeah. So basically, you know, right now I'm learning on
the fly, and it's really good that people will come
back to me. It's not I'm not going to be
insulted if somebody gives me better information than I already have.
This certainly, it's absolutely not about me. It's about serving

(16:40):
the community, and I want the tournament to run as
smoothly as it can. You know, I'm only bothered that
that people are in distress, but you know that's going
to happen, so it's just a matter of dealing with it.
So I'm glad Bob was able to use the I recommended. Actually,

(17:01):
I just kind of forwarded what Jeff Stein from NFFC
forwarded us, and basically, it's just going into the It's
going into a mobile browser, and the two browsers that
I heard work the best are Safari and Chrome. So

(17:22):
I've used both of those and I've had no issues. Now, Sky,
on the other hand, has just not been able to
get in for some reason, and I wish I could,
Like I said, I wish I could see him face
to face. So anyway, getting back to my team, I was.

(17:42):
I went in real early on wide receivers. I had
the second pick of the draft, and I am a
huge fan of Jamier Gibbs. He's one of the few
guys that if he had three hundred touches last year,
he wasn't much over it, and this is going to

(18:02):
be his third year and I don't see I don't
even see a lot of changes with the new offensive
coordinator there. I think it's still going to be a
two headed monster, and I think it's going to be
a team that tries to run as much as they can.
My next three picks for all wide receivers, I grabbed
Garrett Wilson and JSN and then I kind of went

(18:26):
out on a limb at the end of the fourth
round and pick where she Rice. I know there's a
suspension coming there. It could be anywhere. One of the
guys I like following on Twitter and I will never
call it X is Drew Drat Davenport, And I know
Drew is a he's a attorney, and he will He

(18:56):
is very knowledgeable. He's very easy to understand. He's very
generous with his information. So he's been kind of following
the Rashi Rice thing from the beginning. He's been disseminating
information on what can happen, and he's been pretty he's
been pretty close to right all the time, so he

(19:17):
thinks that what's going to happen. The most likely scenario
is a two to four game suspension for Rice. And
we saw Jordan Addison get suspended earlier this week for
three games, and I know Rashi. It's kind of like
Rashi Rice was probably worse, but as far as the

(19:44):
contrition and to make things right, he's kind of gone
out of his way to do that. So we'll see
how the league reacts to that. And you know, if
the best case he gets two games, I'm fine with that.
Can work around it. I went in on my I
went in on a guy I consider a top five

(20:07):
tight end in TJ. Howkinson, And if you hear the
chatter back and forth with the with the the analysts
on social media, either TJ. Howkinson's in for a big
bounce back or his leg's gonna fall off and it's

(20:28):
the end of the road. So that's kind of where
I am with training camp news. I've kind of in
the mindset that I thought he had moments where he
looked good last year, but my expectations for him last
year weren't real high. I kind of drafted him. If
I was able to get him, it was real late,

(20:48):
and it was because I had an ir spot. I think.
You know, Derek make makes the point that you know,
knee injuries can take a year to kind of right themselves.
You know that can be true. It's human body is

(21:09):
not a cookie cutter, so each guy heals differently. But
I think I think Hockinson's probably going to bounce back,
and that's my bet here. I've been grabbing him in
a lot of drafts I've been in, so I kind
of made him my cornerstone tight end. After that, I

(21:31):
kind of flipped. I grabbed mixing at the end of
the next round, Like I said, that's one I make
that may come back and haunt me. I also kind
of let some guys that are more volume based pass
me by when I picked Baker Mayfield with my next pick,
But I did want a guy I think it will

(21:52):
be a high volume quarterback without paying up to get
one of the main mobile quarters. The end of the
next round, I picked Michael Pittman, and Michael Pittman's another
one with injury concern. He had. He had a pretty

(22:14):
significant back injury last year that they talked about actually
for putting him on ir and shutting him down for
the season, and then all of a sudden, four days
later he was on the field and he really never
missed significant time. The thing that concerns me about him
going into the season is he didn't have he didn't

(22:36):
have surgery to correct it, so I you know, there's
some concern there for reinjury. After that, I went running
back running back Rashad White and Ramandre Stevenson. I still
think both of those guys are going to have a
role with their teams. I know, I know Bucky Irving's

(22:59):
going to be the main guy in Tampa. But I
think Tampa utilizes their running backs enough in the passing
game that White will be will still have a featured role,
and sounds like he's been he's been getting himself in
better shape than he's been in a few years. And

(23:19):
as far as Romande Streevens Stevenson goes, I know Traveon
Henderson's there. I know Travon Henderson is the is the
darling of the drafts so far. I still like Remandre
to have a real significant role because they're they're paying
him a pretty good chunk of money. I'm sure. I'm
sure they can. I'm sure they can get out from

(23:41):
under that contract. Uh, I'm sure they can get it
out from under that contract after the season. But I
think they're they're in on him this year and I
think Travion. I think they'll both have big roles. I
just think the roles will be different. I think I
think Travan I'll be a kind of like a change

(24:02):
of pace guy. I think I think Romandre will probably
be the the hammer. And the good thing for Remondre
too is he's not He's not a liability in the
passing game, so you know they can they can mix
and match the way they they they like. The only
thing I'm concerned about is, you know, if they can

(24:24):
Drake May's got got to take a step up and
they they they really need. It's going to be interesting
to see what Mike Rabel does. I like Mike Rabel,
but Mike vae Mike Vrabel's a defensive uh coach. So
hopefully the offense can, uh, the offensive coaching staff can
can move that that team forward. I think as far

(24:48):
as the receivers go, you know, Diggs is in and
and uh, but he's still recovering from a significant injury.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
The other than that, they didn't do a lot for
a lot of changes in the receivers, so you know,
I see guys like like the Mary Douglas getting late
round picks and things like that. My my only question
with that, I think they I think they're probably going
to lean on the running game more than the passing game.

(25:18):
So I like Stevenson there. Then I've been since then,
I've been kind of saying, Okay, do I really want
to do I want to play the rookie lottery and
go down the go down the team's depth chart, or
do I want to pick some guys that I think

(25:38):
can have significant roles, uh in volume, and like guys
like that are wide receivers too, that are just not
as as as attractive as some of the other guys.
So my eleventh round pick was Christian Kirk joined the
Texans this year. I know he had a pretty significant injury. Uh.

(25:59):
Then I I went with ron Wandale Robinson, who I'm
it's kind of amazing that he's being drafted so late.
I know that Giants aren't aren't a great team or
an attractive team, but Wondale Robinson had one hundred and
forty targets last year. I know they average target depth
wasn't super far. I think it was just under five yards,

(26:23):
but that was that was with a different quarterback. I
think Russell Wilson will probably, let me put it this way,
even this Russell Wilson is an upgrade over what they
had last year. So you know, I don't know that
Jackson Dart's going to be ready in twenty twenty five,
so it's gonna be probably I think you're probably going

(26:46):
to see Russell Wilson for the most part. I I
can't see them turning to Jameis Winston if Russ is
even slightly bad. It's Jamis. We know who Jamis went.
I love him in fantasy, but he's kind of a
mess in reality. He just turns the ball over too much,

(27:07):
and it's really it just strangely, it's like the mind.
He gets impatient and the mind just doesn't work all
the time. So after Wandale, I went in the thirteenth
round with my second quarterback, I grabbed Sam Donald, not
my top choice JJ McCarthy, all got within two picks.

(27:34):
I would have loved to have had JJ McCarthy, But
I think Donald. I think Donald do do okay in Seattle.
I don't think he'll be quite as good as he
was in Minnesota. It's just a different team, the weapons
aren't the same. But it gives me a little cheap stack, right,

(27:55):
So I've got Donald and JSN in round fourteen for
ninety year old Adam Feeling who always seems to perform.
I mean, you think Adam Feelen wasn't even he wasn't
even a valuable rookie to people in twenty and thirteen,

(28:21):
and somehow he is just put together a good career.
He's like a plugger. I love Adam Thelon and as
long as he's out there, I'll throw a draft pick
on And this might be that this might be it
for him, but I think he's probably got one more
go round. Then I picked. I did something that my

(28:42):
friend Jeff is thinking. I'm hearing good things out of
Dallas about Miles Sanders, and I know this kind of
I know this kind of goes against what you did
with Javonte Williams. I think there's room there for more
than one guy. You know. I've been hearing good things
about Miles Sanders. I think he will work good in

(29:05):
their system. I didn't pay a tenth round pick for him,
so I'm pretty happy getting him in the at the
beginning of the fifteenth round. And then after that, I
grabbed Russell Wilson as my third quarterback, another little mini

(29:25):
stack with Wan Dale, and then I finally grabbed I
grabbed my second and third tight ends back to back.
I grabbed Mike Aasicki, who signed a three year, twenty
five million dollar contract. I as far as I'm concerned,
I've been doing the rankings for tight ends for res

(29:46):
all this year. I have him. I have him as
a low tight end too, but I think there's upside there,
you know. And even the signing of Noah Fant doesn't
really concern me much. I don't know that that Fant
is going to be the guy that takes a lot
away from my Giziki. They may be thinking that Fant's

(30:08):
probably a good guy to run out there in twelve formation.
I don't think Fant does anything better than Kaziki, So
I'm not worried about the fan signing for Gasiki. And
then I went with Dalton Schultz. And the only reason
I didn't draft Dalton Schultz a few round earlier is
he's got the same bye week is as Hockinson. But

(30:28):
I love Dalton Schultz. He's got he's He's had like
eighty five to ninety targets each of them last four years,
I think, and you know the volumes there. He just
doesn't get into the end zone as much as some
of the other guys. And my last pick my last
pick at the beginning of the nineteenth round. And this
is funny because Jeff Erickson from Rhoda wires in my division,

(30:52):
and he was in my division in Ras Bull three
and one of the things he and I talked about
was at that time we talked about the San Francisco
running back situation, and he was an Elijah Mitchell guy,
and I was a Tevin Coleman guy, and we I
think we know how that worked out. Kevin Coleman was

(31:13):
pretty cooked by that time, and Elijah Mitchell took the
role and did a pretty good job of it. He
had his best season that year as a rookie. And
you know, that's just kind of like, you know, it's
one of He's Kyle Shanahan's a wild card. He could
probably succeed with any player. I would love to play

(31:34):
vampire a vampire fantasy league with Kyle Shanahan. He probably
win being the vampire. And so my pick. He picked
Devinneil in the eighteenth round, and I went with Kendra
Miller at the top of the nineteenth round. So, I mean,
the expectations. Yeah, oh, here's here's coach Chad yep. He

(31:59):
he he tells me I sniped Sanders from him. You
guys have all been killing me. So I I've I've
had such a great time doing this draft with you all.
You know, I I was, I will, I was, I was,
I was tried. And Jeff Erickson because Jeff came on

(32:23):
on the chat room in the middle of the afternoon
today and said, uh, sorry, guys, the Wi Fi on
the plane wasn't working real well. And I shot him
one back saying, no, Jeff, I paid the airline to
do that to you because you kept shrinking my queue.
So so anyway, it's it's this is a great tournament.

(32:46):
I have a have a good time with it every years.
And I've got one pick left, and I've got some
guys on on the h I've got some guys in
my queue. But we'll see what happens, because there's you know,
we've got games going on and things are changing. As

(33:06):
Jeff and I are talking.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Well, I'll just say nice Jeffs, will be nice to
all the Jeffs, like, you know, give us some grace here,
like coach Chad doesn't like us. He's annoyed with all
the Jeffs. So you know what, we'll see what happens
next year. Hopefully you'll be in my division and we'll
see how that goes. One of the comments I did
want to give back to Jamie here made a really

(33:31):
good point. I think he's onto something here, Cam did Tila.
Cam had a couple good weeks in New England when
he was with them. So you know, if they can
use Drake May a little bit more to rush a
little bit, I could add to his value and maybe.
I mean it isn't Mike vrabel style offense with teams,

(33:53):
so he likes to play defense to run the ball.
I know he had one year they actually passed a
little bit, but for the most part of Able likes
to control the ball and play good defense. So we'll
kind of see how the receivers pan out there.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
If Rimandre is seventy Derrick Henry, I'll be a happy man.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Yeah, I know on that point. I do think both
running backs are going to be utilized. I think this
will be the end of a guy that I was
a big fan of, Antonio Gibson. I thought he was
going to be all that for the Commanders and just
didn't pan out, unfortunately. But with Henderson being there now,
I think his chances are be very limited. I did

(34:37):
want to touch here in the preseason a little bit.
With the injury of Anthony Richardson kind of tight and
it's his pinky. We'll see how that plays out though,
But that ties into kind of some training camp news
kind of going back to Pittman, but Aby Mitchell has
looked really good supposedly at camp. He played really well
against Baltimore yesterday. I saw the highlights on there. It

(34:59):
gets me excited hoping to see that tonight. But then
Richardson gets rocked. What you hate to see already probably
a broken pinky looks like. So let's kind of see
how that pans out. But do you think that impacts
any of the other skill position players for the Cults.
If Anthony Richardson were to miss, you know, a decent

(35:20):
amount of time to begin to see.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
It, I really don't. I mean, if they pivot to
to Daniel Jones. You know, honestly, I don't see a
major difference in the type of quarterback Anthony Richardson and
Daniel Jones are. They're guys that there are guys that
that probably shouldn't be starting in the NFL, and neither

(35:44):
one of them to me. They both hold the ball
too long, they're they're they're too quick to pull the
ball down and run and and they're not terribly accurate.
They haven't been to this point, So I mean, I
don't think there's gonna there. You know, if you were
in on Richardson, and I don't know how how bad

(36:08):
he's hurt. I got to tell you though, I watched
that play, and I if i'm if I'm styching, I'm
talking to my offensive line coach and saying, you know,
how did you let that guy have a free run
at my quarterback? Yeah, because you know Jabo got in there.
I mean I saw it in slow motion. I can

(36:31):
guarantee you if you watch that play in full speed,
he was there and under two seconds. You know, so
you may look at that play in slow mowing you go,
you know, well, why didn't Richardson get rid of that ball? Well,
I got news for you. Don't block a defensive lineman
in the NFL. You don't really have a lot of
time to make decisions. So so I don't know that

(36:55):
Richardson is that badly hurt. I think that's probably sure
he's he's hurt, and if he's got a broken finger,
I can tell you that hurts like all get out.
But yeah, these guys, these guys will play with arms
falling off half the time. So yeah, officially a dislocated thanky.

(37:17):
You know, I think if if push came to shove,
they would have taped it up and he could have
gone back in the game. But it's the first week
of preseason. You know what, They probably we're going to
give Daniel Jones some reps anyway, so you know, just
get him in there, and let's say Richardson is the starter.
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see

(37:38):
him the rest of the preseason. I don't know that
that's an injury decision either, you know, just you know,
if you want the guy to be your quarterback, let
him rest the rest of the preseason, make sure he
gets his reps, get him as healthy as you can
for the start of the season.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yeah, no, I agree.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I've just looked kate my left ring finger all the
time from playing basketball growing up, so it can redislocate
pretty easily. So they're gonna probably need to let him
rest because you don't want to have that thing keep dislocating.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
It's not good, So he might have to shelve it
for a little bit.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
But I think Daniel Jones, that's why they brought him
in to compete, So maybe it might be kind of
better for maybe some of the past catchers than we
actually realize. So time will tell on that I did
kind of want to go on just a few other
training camp injuries. One that really stands out to me
that actually has me more concerned than I thought it

(38:38):
did initially. But Matthew Stafford, man, it's I'm like, I'm
not sure because again we don't get all the information right,
but just seeing what they're saying about it, it doesn't
make me very confident as he's missing a lot of
time we camp with Davante And I'm not so high

(39:01):
on Devanta Adams this year for fantasy just because of
his draft price being the receiver seventeen on average right now,
Like I think it's a little high, but I don't
think he's going to provide you know, receiver seventeen numbers. Personally,
I don't think that with Nikola getting all the love
so with this injury, with Stafford not being able to

(39:23):
develop a rapport with him, though, do you think that
has any major implications moving forward for the Rams offense?

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Well, I mean, you know, I never this is reductive,
but I never like to hear week to week as
a descriptor for an injury. It sounds like that he's
dealing with a disc problem and you know, depending on
the severity of it. That's that's a terrible thing. Now,

(39:54):
I will say this about Matthew Stafford. He's probably he's
arguably the top off his quarterback I've ever seen. I mean,
he's just he he he goes out there when other
guys would be out for you know, probably either on
you know, might even be on IR. So if Stafford

(40:16):
can get out there and perform, He's going to be
out there. The thing that concerns me most about Devontae
Adams is the possibility that he may be playing again
with Jimmy Garoppolo. And we saw how that went last time,
you know, so you know, it's funny. I see a

(40:39):
lot of people starting to pick up Garoppolo in leagues
where there are waivers available. So, yeah, there's some concern
about Stafford, but I'm gonna I'm going to probably treat
it like he's going to be there until I hear differently.
You know. The back problem is the back problem. Uh

(41:01):
you know. I if he can if he can get
to a point where he can perform, I think he'll
be on the field.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
No, and then coach Chad chiming in solid points there
if Jimmy g does get some playing time, it could
be good, uh for initially, But this is another one
I wanted to.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Do too, but he beat me to it.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
Yeah, this one here, this is Yike's Rashaun Slater torn
Pteleton in today's practice. That is what you want to
hear if you're a Chargers fan.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
He's he's he's he's one of the best. He's one
of the best offensive linemen in the league. And you
don't replace him. You know. The good news for them
is the guy that they are going to use to
replace him, he's been there, so you know they don't
have to they don't have to bring in somebody or
move somebody from another position. Is his direct backup that's

(42:01):
been on the team, So you've got at least you
don't have to acclimate the guy and get him as
part of the Unit's he's been out there. And you
know another I hate to say it's a positive light
in a bad situation, but you know, there's still plenty

(42:25):
of time. There's still four there's still a month before
the season starts to get him ready, So you know,
I mean, there's those things going for him, But no,
you don't lose a guy like Slater and and you know,
not miss a beat. So I'm not too worried about
the skill position players. You know, I'm probably you know,

(42:50):
I'm not sure. The thing that concerns me is I'm
probably mostly concerned for Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Yeah, if it had been a guard, I would have
been more concerned for the running game. But I think
I don't think they're going to change their identity much
based on this injury. I think that's a team that,
if they can do it, they're going to run the
ball down team's throats. You know, I know Harbaugh and
Greg Roman loved doing that. They've been doing it in

(43:24):
the NFL for probably as long as they've been here.
So you know, I'm not necessarily downgrading any Chargers.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Yeah. Well, here's something interesting.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
So when I was looking at receiver tandems and my
most recent article utilizing the Touchdown Rushing and Receiving Tool
free on rasball dot com. To be sure to check
all our tools while you're online. When I was looking
at the Chargers like receiving corps, looking at some stats
and numbers, and what was really interesting was that Quintin

(44:00):
Johnson posted the most receiving yards by a receiver too
under a Greg Roman offense. However, though I will note
though that they were ranked twenty eighth overall in passing,
so looks like it's kind of a weird stat like
so they were had up the receiver too, but then

(44:21):
they didn't really pass very often. So this injury, I
wonder if it hurts the passing game more and they
have to rely more now on Amarion Hampton and now
long as he comes back from his eye injury, okay,
and you know, maybe a lot of quick passes because
Herbert can't risk getting hit if his blindside guy is
not there to protect him, and if justin Herbert takes

(44:41):
a lot of shots. I don't know, if I forget
who their backup is right now, I apologize ratherball Nation,
but I think that would severely hurt you know, the
Chargers and kind of what they've got grill in there.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
So that is something to watch for.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
But like you mentioned, it is early enough in training
camp where the next man up, we'll have plenty of time,
you know, to find that go heat siveness with the
offensive line and hopefully protect Herbert Moore and then the
last kind of injury that I saw that did so
that I kind of mentioned the the Kila Shakur earlier

(45:14):
with Joshua Palmer. Some of the chiefs receivers, they're kind
of missing out on times. I'm kind of curious who's
going to step up there as the main guy with
the rice suspension potentially looming as well. Was there any
injuries that have you concerns early on in training camp? Uh?

Speaker 3 (45:37):
Nothing I've heard other than what we've discussed. I mean,
you know, there's always little nicks and things, but off
the top of my head, I don't remember anything real
serious that that would it would move the neel too
much for me.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
Absolutely, I'm all right. Well, rasbald Nation.

Speaker 1 (46:01):
