(00:06):
Welcome back to the Face Off SportsNetwork newsdesk. I'm Anthony Servino reporting that
ESPN's Adam Schefter is saying that Giantsrunning back say Quon Barkley is expected to
miss the next three weeks with anankle injury suffered in Sunday's win against the

(00:29):
Abrazona Cardinals. Now, this injurycould have been much worse. It could
have been a season ender. Itcould have been a high ankle sprain that
sidelines players a lot longer than threeweeks. So just say, quote unquote
normal ankle sprain is probably the bestcase scenario for say Kuon Barkley. Now,
what does this mean for the immediatefuture? When I say immediate,

(00:52):
I mean like a couple of daysfrom now, Because Thursday Night Football,
the New York Giants will play theSan Francisco forty nine ers. So even
if Barkley had a miraculous turnaround andwas able to play sooner than that three
week timeline, he is most certainlyout for Thursday Night Football. Now what
are the New York Giants going todo? Because this is a quote unquote

(01:15):
best case scenario for say Quon Barkleyand the injury timeline is only roughly three
weeks. I do not foresee theNew York Giants bringing in somebody like Kareem
Hunt or Leonard Fournette, or evenpicking up the phone and trying to trade
for cam Akers, who we knowthe Rams are trying to get out of
town. So what are they gonnado? What do they have on their

(01:37):
roster? Well, they have guyslike Matt Brina and Gary Brightwell, we
can even see rookie Eric Gray intothe mix. My immediate thought process tells
me that Matt Brita will be theprimary running back out of the backfield,
handling passing down work as well asrushing down work. Matt Brita came from

(02:00):
Buffalo with Brian Dable. He knowsthe system and he's the veteran of the
group and probably the most trustworthy tothe head coach and his coaching staff.
From a fantasy football perspective, ifyou need a flex option, if you're
a se Quon Barkley manager and youdon't have a lot of running back,

(02:22):
death kick the tires on Matt Brita. He is going to get the workload.
This is still the Giants. They'restill going to run the hell out
of the football. They're not gonnaveer from their game plan and their scheme
because they don't have one of thebest running backs in the league. As
crazy as that sounds, they stillneed to establish the run to open up
the passing lanes for Daniel Jones, who we all know needs all the help

(02:46):
he can get. This also highlightsa potential breakout for Darren Waller. Now,
Darren Waller had a nice game againstthe Arizona Cardinals on Sunday when the
Giants came back at halftime and scoredall those points to win that football game.
So with say Quan out, somebodyneeds to step up, and that

(03:07):
guy is probably Darren Waller, whothe Giants made their marquee offseason acquisition.
Once again, say Quon Barkley expectedto miss the next three weeks with an
ankle injury. I'm Anthony Servino. This is the face off Sports Network newsdesk.
We'll see you next time.
