Speaker 1 (00:04):
All right, and welcome too Fast Break Breakfast MBA podcast.
My name is Keith Parrish, and I'm here, once again
with my buddy, through the miracle of computer phone. I'm
here with Dave DeFore.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Dave, how's it going really good?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, I mean, you know, for being like, oh you're
hill under the weather.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Oh yeah, you gotta tell you.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
So I went.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I went to Vegas last weekend for for WrestleMania weekend.
My best friend was in town he works with with
WW and got to see a lot of my old
buddies and had a really good weekend. But I woke
up Sunday morning and this is not like usual Vegas
because I don't you know, Keith, you know how I am.

(00:54):
I basically sit in one spot and hang out.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, And I.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Was like, oh man, I just don't feel great, and
so I picked up I don't know, something cold.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
But it was worth it.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
WrestleMania flu yeah yeah, but but it was worth it.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I got to see a lot of my old buddies.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I mean, if you if you hang out with that
much strange, you're gonna say something, Dave.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, I don't have the old wrestler immune system. That
I used to because you know, I used to get
into some grinds.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Well. Also there's all kinds of wrestling diseases that I've
never been heard of. And then it's like, oh, yeah,
you get stuff from the mats.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
The mats. Yeah, yeah, we had a spray bottle of bleach.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
That we would always uh get to work with. But yeah,
it's uh, it was a good time. So you know,
even though I haven't really felt good all week, it
was actually like, eh.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
It's not that bad. And it slowed me down.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
A little bit this week, which I probably needed. And
then the playoffs have been good. So yeah, I don't know, man,
good how about you.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I'm glad you're recovering. I mean, the the your WrestleMania illness,
it just I feel like that's akin to my middle
school illness because I work in the middle school right time,
and I'm always here and I've got all these different
tricks where it's just like, you know, I was never
a germophobe, but I'm sort of becoming like Howard Hughes,

(02:09):
where it's like I see someone touching the piano, I
use I'm like, whoaaho, that's not I'm like WHYESA wiping
the things. I have things where I open the doors.
I don't press the middle where all the kids are. Ye,
I open every door like at the very top. And
I'm I'm significantly taller than you, Dave, this is even
available for you. But I'm like pushing the very top
of the doors. You got a long arm, you got

(02:31):
you got that wingspan.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I think we've probably got the same reach.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah, so I try. I try to avoid illness as
best I can. Like I'm teaching piano lessons and I'm like, hey,
you have a pencil, and They're like, can I borrow yours?
I'm like no, So anyways, yeah, that's where I'm at.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
I'm feeling good, Dave, as good as one can feel
when this stuffed with half off easter candy.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I mean this is this, dude, this is I mean,
NBA plans is one thing post easter jellybean.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I Mean, here, here's what the listeners want. They want
us to talk about basketball. They want us to maybe
bring up some off the beaten path stories they hopefully
are are not gonna get our same retreads about you know,
winning and not tanking and all these things. But I
know they want some Hunter s Thompson esque fear and
loathing in Las Vegas of Keith pursuing sugar. And I

(03:29):
gotta say, Dave, yes, I'm here to deliver the goods.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
As most listeners know, I'm a fiend for sweet tart
jelly beans. They only come around during this seasonal easter season.
They're not stocked year round, much to my chit grin. Well,
here's the story, Dave. All of a sudden, the sweet
tart jelly beans dried up around Nashville. And this is
this is not the same as when they stopped making

(03:56):
the sour ducks and gummies. This is in twenty twenty two,
who coming out of COVID. They decided they can't make this, this,
this gummy candy anymore. Also unrelated thing or possibly related,
Russell Stover, famous American candy maker, stopped making stop producing
their jelly beans. They don't make Russell Stover jelly beans anymore.

(04:17):
I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I didn't know they made Russell Stover. There you go,
jelly beans different.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
So Russell Stover had these yellow means maybe there's like
a pecton shortage I don't know. They just can't make them.
I'm actually hoping now that the Food and Drug Administration
is going to be just completely dismantled. We get a
bunch of my gummy candy back maybe whatever, maybe whatever things.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Oh man, I was like, oh wow, a federis coming
back for sure.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
It went away everywhere.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
You know what else, Keith, it means good cold medicine.
You're actually gonna be able to get a real decongestent.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
We're gonna get. We're make America healthy with some real
cold medicine.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I don't bring it back from Europe, but man.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
So in anyways, Dave Sweet Teart jelly beans on the
prize here. This is a thing during the Easter season
I stock up on whenever I go to the grocery store.
I'm like, let's just get some extra because these are
going away. Well, all of a sudden it just dried up.
They weren't at my grocery store. They weren't at my
Kroger anymore. And I'm like, this is weird.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
They always did, they have them this year.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
They had them this year. And here's the thing. I
was buying them. My wife was buying them before me.
I'm sitting here sharing them with the kids. If I
would have known the supply would dry up, I would
have been saving these things.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
I thought, how many weeks? Wait, how long?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Like Mark I would say, I would say it starts
close to.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
After after I was gonna say right after Valain.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, So like again, I didn't I thought we were
still going to be flushed with jelly beans for weeks
and weeks. I didn't think I had to start rationing
and setting some aside.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
And it's a totally different color scheme too, right, So
it's not like they can just rewrap the old stuff.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
No, I mean it's they don't make any other kiddy
just like this. It's just a different jelly bean. But anyways,
so Kroger stops carrying them, I have to run to
a Walmart to buy a kid's birthday present. A couple
of weeks ago, I'm like, we're out of these things.
I gotta find a different store. Going to Walmart, they
didn't even stock them this year. So I'm like, I'm like,
these jelly beans are gone, and I'm sad. So right

(06:17):
before we're talking, what's the Saturday after Holy Saturday? The
one after Good Friday, the day before Easter. I'm like,
I'm looking online now now I'm shopping online like a fiend.
I want these things delivered, and I say Target is
carrying them now. Target hasn't had them on the shelves
in weeks. But Target's like, hey, we'll we'll sell you.

(06:39):
We'll sell you some of these packs of these. They
had a maximum order of ten dave. So here's what
I do. I ordered ten packs of these jelly beans
from Target. They were another funny part. They were three
dollars and forty nine cents. To get delivery on candy Slash,
any food item you have to order at least thirty

(06:59):
five dollars. So I had to pack on a pack
of sour Patch Kids to bump that from thirty four
to ninety over to the part where they would deliver
it to me. So anyways, I ordered the jelly beans
from Target. But also my experience with Target, they don't
actually deliver the things you buy from them. They'll sell
you anything and then they'll be hey, it turns out
we don't have this thing. Here's your money back. They're
they're not necessarily stealing from you. My experience with Target

(07:22):
is something like a twenty percent delivery rate. If I
see a good deal, like I'm gonna buy it, it
might come. Usually doesn't. Anyways, those jelly beans still haven't come, Dave.
But wow, the the sour Patch kids that I used
to get the shipping that they came. But anyways, I'm like,
these things aren't coming. So now we're talking Sunday, which
is Easter, and I'm like, this is the end of

(07:42):
the candy season I started. No, it really did. And
it wasn't the Grizzlies losing my fifty one that ruined
my Easter. It was the lack of the Sweetheart jelly
beans in my life. But I poked around on the internet.
I'm talking late Sunday night, Easter, and they're telling me
the Walgreens near my house has them.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
So, oh yeah, is there there like a forum?

Speaker 1 (08:07):
That's a great question, is there. I'm trying to jelly
bean read it. Probably know where.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
To start finding who had what jelly beans?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Just google sweet Teart jelly beans and you start looking.
You're and it's like, oh, and what the first few
results are. It's like, Oh, go to Costco, go to
Sam's Club, go to Walmart, and every time you click
on it, it's like these don't exist, you can't get them.
So I finally weighed my way down to Walgreens and
they're like, oh, yeah, we have some. You can order
eight and they'll be ready for pick up tomorrow morning.

(08:36):
This Walgreens like a mile from my house, and I
created a Walgreens account. That's right, I created it on
Walgreens account. I ordered the maximum eight allowable. So again
I'm running up another twenty five dollars bill out of this.
The target thing. They haven't charged me yet because they're
never gonna ship, so that that's good there. But I order.
I ordered the jelly beans. I wake up Monday morning,

(09:00):
I worked a couple hours on a Grizzlies podcast. I'm
on my way to work. I swing by the Walgreens,
not expecting much my experiences, they're not gonna fill this order,
so they don't actually have these jelly beans. Turns out,
Walgreens came through. They handed me a paper bag with
twenty eight dollars worth of candy and it was awesome.
So now also they had they still had three packs
on the shelves, so I got eleven packs of from.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
What relieve any for the for the next guy.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
No, no, I'm I'm the I'm the COVID order. I
took all the toilet paper. Wow, I took all the
lysol wipes.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
So are you stashing these for? Like?

Speaker 1 (09:36):
You know, that's a great question. How long can I
go down? Can I make this this bag of jelly
beans last?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I have no idea how much candy you eat, Keith,
because like this is this honestly sounds like you have
a problem.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Do you know what I mean of your thinking?

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Think of the lamar odems stories you've heard in double.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yeah, that's that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
I don't know. So I have a lot of jelly beans.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
I was allowed to eat candy growing up, so I never.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Really I was. But I don't know if that if
that was good or bad. You know, there's some of
the thing where it's like, oh, I wasn't allowed to
play video games as a kid, so now I'm just
gorging on video games. You know, there's some of this.
I was allowed to eat candy, so there's something I'm
not used to it. So I don't care. I was
allowed to eat candy, now I'm crazy for it. I
just think I have a I might have a physical gift.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Oh yeah, for sure. Okay with okay, I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Just my consumption was don't let me feel bad. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
You ever check your blood sugar? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:33):
The doctor Sam fine, Yeah, doctor say you're a you're
a medical marvel.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I wonder I wonder what. I wonder what it looks
like after I have I have.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Better blood pressure than Trump. Okay, oh I have six four? No, yeah,
those are actually we can move past. So let's let's
call that breakfast after breakfast, day after breakfast. Let's move
to some breakfast in bed apologies because I do with

(11:02):
some big apologies based on last week's show. So rough
is some betapologies. It's our chance to make right what
we got wrong on a previous episode. Frequently the first
time we talked about the NBA. Okay, I did in
fact get senteled on last week's episode. You know the
Devox thing, we figured it out. I literally thought when

(11:23):
we started recording, the Kings were gonna hire a body devots.
They did not. They hired Scott Scott Perry, so.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Which is just as crazy.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Well, they spin they spent a full thirty minutes in
their GM search. Also, by the way, the Pelicans, so
they fired, They fired their GM and they spent a
full thirty minutes hiring Joe. Also, bring it.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Back Troy Weird. I don't I'm lost, man.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Well, I mean, du Mars is from Louisiana, I know,
and he's been in the league a long time and
that's how things get done.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
So, Also, the Pistons very notably this week won a
playoff game. They beat the Knicks. It's the first time
they've won a playoff game. Get this, This is an
example for how long it's been. It's the first time
they won a playoff game since Fast Break Brekfast has
been a podcast.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
That's forever. That's amazing, that's forever. Oh that's actually fun. No.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
No, the Pistons hadn't won a playoff game since two
thousand and eight because of Joe du Mars and Troy.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Weaver, right, I mean, well and the Wizards.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I mean the Wizards had sidelined him, right. I don't
know the actual inner workings of.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Yes, I mean, but they hadn't before.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
I think he'd been sidelined. Yeah. But anyways, now the
Pelicans they found their guy. Honestly, we should commend the
Atlanta Hawks on not like hiring Elton Brand after thirty minutes.
Although they did, they didn't promote from within so that
they also fulfilled their position. I mean, what's it like
if you're if you're an awesome GM out there, if
you're Bob Myers and you want one of these jobs?

(12:55):
I mean rumored the rumor?

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Still, let's say you're a hot candidate, I mean physically hot,
not Tyler.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah. Is Bob Myers a great GM? I don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Hard to say, Curry, Yeah, you know what I mean.
That's but I just say, imagine, imagine you won one
of these jobs. You get the shams notification that a
job has opened up, and then it's filled within like
an hour.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
You're like, how how is this?

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Like?

Speaker 3 (13:22):
This is how coaches often work. I mean, you know
when the Bucks fired Darvin Ham, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Well, there's also something to be said that you don't
necessarily maybe want to fire an executive if you don't
have a good idea how you're going to get what
you think is a better option.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Right? Right?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
They just extended John Horst, and I think everyone expected
that to be done.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
But I mean, but.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Isn't there something to be said about leaving no stone unturned,
trying to find the best talent. Anyways, apologies for getting
ball sacked and thinking that maybe Devach was going to
be the King's.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Jam how I don't know GMS. I think it's not.
I don't want to say overrated, I do. I do
just think like the job is different than what most
people think it is. And when you look at the
teams that are solid, right, Yeah, it's all about those
base hits.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
That just turn into triples, right, it's not really the
home run.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Well, it's also all about sometimes it's not about winning
basketball games, right. I feel like we pretend it is. Yeah,
but it's like, did John Horst get an extension because
he uh turned Kyle Middleton into Kyle Kuzma, I mean
Chris Midlton into.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Kyle Chris mid Like you're telling me that's a good deal.
Didn't get the extension because this team is toast?

Speaker 1 (14:41):
No, because he fall on the sword and he's like,
I will, I will get us under the proper apron
and I'll give up a proven playoff guy even if
he was, you know, getting up there in years. You
got off his money to bring in Kyle Kuzma. Kyle
Kuzma with the Tony Snell Memorial twenty five. Then it's
in nothing. In Game one he had a better game too,

(15:03):
but twenty two minutes of nothing, no stats. That's the
most minutes any starter in the playoffs has ever played
without accumulating a single stat. And again they traded Chris
Milton to get him.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Oh also had a great rest of his season. He
made the Wizards. I believe.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
I believe Chris Milton had a career high and effected
field goal percenters this year. Also, apologies, last week we
ran out of time, Slash I forgot to do the
awards segment of the program. Oh just deeply upsetting. So actually,
let's go ahead and do that now. This is this
is not this week's International Stackhouse of Pancakes Award, given
to the worst performance in a box score. This is

(15:45):
last week's for the end of the regular season and
the play it so Dave for last week. We have
a few nominees. Excuse me, we have a few honorable mentions.
Spencer didn't when you one for ten, Jeff Dowton and
Tajean Salon won for eleven, GG Jackson two for twelve,
Alex Sar three for fifteen, Drew Timmy in his eighth

(16:08):
NBA game, was five for twenty one, and Kante George
was six for twenty three. Our three nominees for the
week before last a Delano Banton in a loss to
the Warriors one for twelve, three points, six assists, four rebounds,
one block, seven turnovers. That's a one for twelve, seven
turnover game.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
That's the worst games I've ever heard.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
That.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
It's one of the worst deat lines you'll ever hear.
Uh Baylor Shireman.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
It's first than Kuzma going over you know.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Shireman and a loss in a wins he thin because
the Hornets was two for fourteen, seven points, seven boards,
to assist, three seals, one turne personal file. And then
in the play in Dave, Kobe White was five for
twenty yeah, seventeen points, five assists, two rebounds, also seven
turnovers and three personal foul. So basically this is Delano
Banton won for twelve, three points, six assists, seven turnovers

(16:57):
or Kobe White five for twenty seventeen points five is
seven turnovers. Obviously, the Bulls had a little bit more
to play for, right, But let's just look at the numbers.
Dave and I think give it to Tolano Banton.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah, it's one of the worst. That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
That's a number one.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
You're Toronto Banton doing that. I mean, that's well.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I think he understood assignment. Possibly, Yeah, yeah, I can't
remember what the Trailblazers. There was, of course, some some
jockeying for losing position in the final days of the season. Anyways, Dave,
let's take a quick break and then we'll come back
with what I'm calling the biggest story of the first
week of the NBA playoffs. All right, Dave, I'm very

(17:40):
excited about this. We have a lot of great playoff
series going around, but the lead story for me has
to be the NBA Clutch Player of the Year of
going to Jalen Brunson and Dave, it's not I want
to be clear here, it's not Thealen Brunson won the award.

(18:01):
That's fine. This is like sixth Man of the Year.
They just gave it to the guy with the best
total stats, right, of course, the Clutch Player of the Award.
We've been over this so many times. It's arbitrary, it's weird.
You should just call it the small sample size award.
It's like, let's just take a really small sample size.
It's an arbitrary cutoff where it's like, oh, we've defined

(18:22):
clutches the last five minutes of the game, if the
scores within five and now let's just give an award
to whoever randomly played the most minutes that fed that criteria.
It's idiotic. But here's the big story for me. Jalen
Brunson received seventy four out of one hundred first place votes.

(18:43):
That is easily the fishiest thing I've ever seen covering
the NBA. This is an award where if you actually
dive into the clutch stats, you could have come up
with twenty or thirty names who sent out the signal,
Who set out the signal to say, hey, guys, Jalen
Brunson should appear his first or second on ninety four

(19:03):
out of one hundred ballots. That doesn't make any sense.
This is like group think. But how do we get
group think for the Clutch Player of the Year award?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
That doesn't make any sense. I'm I didn't look at
the vote totals.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I'm having trouble coming up with a motivation for this
very strange thing, Like why would this happen?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
So what are the clutch stats? Like, it's just I.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Mean, if you dive into the clutch stats, the one
stat that screams Jalen Brunson is he averaged the most
points per clutch game, which again is idiotic, right because
like you could have one game where only thirty seconds
count as clutch time, or like these minutes are so small.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Also, his usage is in his usages off the show.
No one else shoots.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Jalen Brunson's three point percentage in the arbitrary defined clutch
time twenty nine percent beautiful. That's our clutch player of
the year right there. I think he's a fine nominee,
but I don't understand. I literally don't understand how he
could be first or second on ninety four out of

(20:10):
one hundred ballots. This is like Tammany Hall, This is
like ballot stuff. This doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
I mean, it's kind of perfect.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
I was like googling to be like, does he have
a bunch of game winners this year? No?

Speaker 3 (20:22):
I was like, I forget someone did someone write an article?

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Do you remember how That's what I'm saying, Like.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, yeah, because I mean that is the problem with
all NBA awards is it's all it's all group think.
Now you have you don't want.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
To be the guy who votes. You don't want to
be the weird.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
You have ten bomb temps doing the whole like straw
Pole all season long. You have to check notes. I mean, frankly,
I've been over this a lot too, Like all award
balloting should be secret because I agree you shouldn't be frankly,
you shouldn't be allowed to talk about it. But I
understand if some ballots are weird. The NBA can see
the ballots, they get weird stuff, they can do something

(21:00):
about it. Yeah, the people have of not being called
out for being like, whoa man, you had Giannis's MVP.
That's crazy? Do you not watch basketball?

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Right?

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Like that city got it? But anyways, we do. There's
seven the NBA calls them seven major awards. Two of
them are objectively stupid, the clutch player and the hustle player.
They're dumb, Yeah, all right, dumb. They're also i'd say meaningless,
but hustle what the I'm I am lost? I am lost?
How he could get seventy of one hundred first place votes?

(21:33):
So here's some other guys. I'm just if you actually.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Look at the stats, saying, if you look at the.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Stats, to me, it screams Darius Garland.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yes, so this is what s S and I were saying.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Okay, yeah, we literally will Number one We've been talking
about all year long. Darius Garland just does this fourth
quarter thing. The Cavs and why do they win all
these games?

Speaker 1 (21:56):
I was gonna say the Caves and clutch games were
twenty five and nine. Darius Garland had a better field
goal percentage, three point percentage, and free throw percentage than
Jalen Brunson. Like Jalen Brunson, the Knicks were seventeen and
eleven in clutch games, which is fine, but it's basically
on par with their normal record. And having a better

(22:16):
or even on par winning percentage in clutch games is
good frankly because these are close games and you did
a good job. Yeah, but like he was, Jalen President
was sixty fifth in clutch plus minus, which is slightly
better than Luke Kennard and it's slightly worse. Here's one,
Precious Atchua, the Raptors were get this, ten and one

(22:39):
in clutch games. Wow, when Precious played that's amazing there.
Derek White was fourteen for twenty five on clutch three
pointers this year. Derek White is a better nominee in
my opinion. Just looking at the stats. The SATs were
twenty one and eight in clutch games. He was top
ten in total clutch plus minus Jokic. Someone say Jokic
finished second, you'd call him maybe a snub. Jokicic was fourth,

(23:02):
and points third, and clutch rebounds second, and clutch assists,
meaning he led the NBA and clutch fantasy points, which
is the most most important category. Dave, if you want
to say, if you want to detract something from Jokic, yeah,
seventy three percent on clutch free throws. That's bad. I
think that might have cost.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
That is bad.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
That might have cost. Michael Porter Join Shock says sixty
percent in clutch situations. Here's one Dave Dyson Daniels. They
were the Hawks were twenty to nineteen in clutch games,
which is better than the normal winning percentage. Dyson Daniels
shot fifty percent on field goals and three pointers. It

(23:40):
sounds like he might have a clutch gene or this
is also the small Simple Size Award. Here's the funniest
This is the phase also Joe Jamal Murray. I look
this up. Jamal Murray on shots to tie or take
the lead in the final ten seconds of games this year. Yeah,
five for five.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Wow, that's amazing. That is amazing.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
And also his clutch shooting. Yeah, Like I even I
even neared this down to like maybe I should see.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Now that's a good parameter, Keith, Like what if it
was what if you could make it more objective like that,
or you know, and even add into that. How many
game winners do you remember the year Russell Westbrook did
the triple double? He had like I think he had
hit so many like game winners right, like buzz ga.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Jalen Brunson was two for four on shots to either
tie or take the lead in the file ten seconds
of the game, which is good. Again, Yeah, I would
like to reiterate, Jalen Brunson is a fine winner.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
What I'm confused about is ninety four percent of the
ballots having him top two, Like did noe looked this up?
Like this doesn't? How does?

Speaker 2 (24:48):
How do?

Speaker 1 (24:48):
There's no chance everyone comes to that same conclusion watching
this NBA season.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
I mean it also could be the high profile games too,
because the Knicks were, you know, in a lot of hot,
high profile close games.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Also, here, here's here's the here's the whammy. Anthony Edwards
finished third. Anthony Edwards on shots to tie or take
the lead in the final ten seconds this season, oh
for seven, the third most clutch player in the NBA
this year, was shot thirty nine percent in clutch situations,

(25:27):
twenty six percent on threes, and was oh for seven
on shots to either tie or take the lead in
the final ten seconds. Who came up with this order?
Did Anthony Edwards do something that I just missed this?
Did he make a did he make a Josh Giddy
half court shot this year?

Speaker 2 (25:43):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
You know who had game winners this year? Harrison Barry,
Harris Barnes. I want to say you might have had
two of these shots. I'm lost.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Anyways, Uh, that a the most important Definitely that's the
least story on Fast Break Breakfast this week.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, that's that is.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Incredibly suspicious. Yeah, Grinson to walk away with ninety four
percent of the vote, his top to n of the balance,
I mean, shout out to the two brave voters who
didn't even put him top three. Only two people didn't
have Bruns and top three. Anyways, do you want to
talk about the playoffs? We can just call it a day.
I feel like we did it. What's the best series? Dave?

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Clippers Nuggets? Oh?

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Clippers Nuggets? Okay, I'm going to I'm going tonight? What? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:37):
You're going?

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Wait, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Dave Defoor is going to a basketball game?

Speaker 2 (26:41):
I am? Yeah? This would be my my.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Are you is? Are you going on a date? Are
you covering the game?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
No? Covering the game? Yes? Yeah? I mean, you know
it's hard because obviously we record every night. But Zena
Xena is.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Gonna pilot the ship and I'm gonna go and hopefully
sit in the wall.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Are you Clipper shirt? Do you have a Clipper shirt?

Speaker 2 (27:02):
I mean I'll just you know, they'll give me one.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Okay, yeah, I mean, are you going to the game
because it's blacked out for you and it's only on
NBA TV?

Speaker 2 (27:11):
No? No, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
No.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Actually, honestly, look, when when we got this series, I
was really pumped about it, and the first two games
have been awesome, and I don't know, man, Uh, you know,
I do actually like basketball.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
So I want to go and be there.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Don't like basketball, but I just don't normally I don't
really like crowds.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yeah, so it's it's loud, but I haven't been to
into a dome and I hear it's actually a pretty
fun place to watch basketball game.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
So I'm gonna go check it out. And and with
the first two like the way the first two games
have been unbelievable, Oh.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
My god, man, I'm I'm expecting this to be, you know,
one of the best games that I've ever been to
in person.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
I mean, that's setting a pretty.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
High ball NBA NBA games.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
I mean Kawi did last game. It's just one of
the most cool, glorious things. I love Kawhi Leonard and yeah,
I of course have been a huge Jokic stand for forever,
and normally the Nuggets are like my number two team
behind the Grizzlies. But I find myself wanting the Clippers
to win because I want Kawhi to win. I want

(28:18):
the legend of Kawhi to continue to grow. I said
it last episode. If I can have one wish granted
for this playoffs, it would be that Kawhi Leonard plays
every game, and Kawhi looks like one of the best
players in the league. He looks like he looks like
the MVP. I mean, if you took a vote after
after the first two playoff games, I mean, it wouldn't

(28:39):
be Shay. The Grizzlies have shut Shaye down. Everybody spread
the thing. Yeah, get the word out. He's shooting thirty
three percent, only averaging twenty points. The Grizzlies are shutting
down Shaem. Sure they've been outscored by seventy Kawhi. You know,
Kahi has been amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Yeah, it's the aesthetic too. Yeah, it's the game that
like we grew up with.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
You know, maybe maybe that's something.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
It looks like Michael Jordan. I mean it does. It's
like a modern Michael Jordan.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
He is the three he obviously, I mean like he
had a big turnaround over Aaron Gordon. Yeah, sealed the game, right,
the turnaround jumper. I don't know, man, he's gonna he's.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Gonna make it. He's gonna make seventy five percent of
his jumpers.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Oh, yes, it's just it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
So both of those games were so good. I mean,
I think one one says a fair result after two games.
Both teams feel like they kind of let a game
get away. It would seemingly be unjust. I think if
one team was up to a right now. But of
course now that is big Game three going back. Uh,
it's everything we hoped for. I mean, I think most

(29:47):
people thought these are two of the best teams playing
right now. It's weird that to face off in the
first round. Yeah, an incredible and incredible series. What's what's
the second best series? Because we do have I mean
we are lucky. Oh yeah, yeah, there are a bunch.
I mean I would say Lakers, Timberwolves. I mean we
knew Lakers Timberwolves. And I think is that you're making

(30:10):
a face.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
It's been back and forth.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
It's been back and forth.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
I want to see I want to see it be
more competitive. Warriors Rockets is compelling, even like you know,
Jimmy Butler getting hurt that game that like Warriors never
let go of the rope.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Like what is your zapruder film study of the Jimmy
Butler injury? Tell you I'm having trouble drawing conclusions.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (30:32):
I mean, like Draymond's getting blamed from Rockets Fan for
pushing a men. There's the one angle where it looks
like a men just on his own decides to undercut
Jimmy Butler. Yeah, I'm having trouble. I'm having trouble deciding
exactly when the refs blaming the refs.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Yeah why not?

Speaker 3 (30:48):
I mean, listen, Uh, I think that I love physicality obviously,
Like I think that the NBA really is a little stuff.
But it's different than like it's not a contact sport. Yeah,
you know, it can be physical, Like I don't mind
these guys grabbing and holding a little bit, and you know,
but once you get to shoving, right, that's and that's

(31:08):
the problem is I think the rest that the series
get to shoving and you have stuff like this where
the bodies are flying all over the place while guys
are jumping, Like you can't you can't have that. This
is why I'm against flopping, because the flopping standers can't
have guys sliding around on the floor while people are
jumping like this is it just is inherently dangerous.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
So to me, it's, uh, you gotta you gotta turn
it down a notch.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
With with the contact, like not the physicality so but it.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Was it's about like it's just hard basketball.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Stuff like that happens, right, Like, I don't think there's
any nobody's at fault.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Jimmy Butler's at fault because he jumped in the air.
I don't you know what I mean, Like they're just
they're just like they're doing stuff.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
I know, the the Rockets push it up to the
limit and over the limit. Yeah, fouling, much like Draymond
has his entire career. So it's gonna be a tough situation. Yeah,
this specific instance. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
That series has been fun so far.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
My series prediction is exact. I said. I said Rockets
lose Game one, close, win Game two, big the prophecy.
I said Warriors would roll in Game three. So let's
see if it continues. Let's see if it continues that way.
I mean that series. You had the game one where
Fred van Vliet and Jalen Green thirty four combined field

(32:31):
goal attempts to produce seventeen points. Just an abomination, just
hideous basketball. We will I guess hear more about that
in the official awards segment of the program coming up later. Uh,
what about Nix Pistons. I mean that one's tied up.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Oh yeah, that's been that's been very interesting, big Tobias
Harris series.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
It's been a big Tobias Harris season for you, Dave.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Yeah, I meant a lot of a lot of Tobias
Harris victory laps from you. Also, I mean Tobias guarding
Karl Anthony Towns has been pretty interesting too.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah. I don't know, I think the boring series.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
You know, it's not even boring, right, Like Calves Heat
that game two was was It was an interesting game
to watch. I liked seeing how the Calves responded to
to the you know, the way that the Heat come
out and play Boston. Now, this is not for this series,
but things are very interesting for Boston now because you know,

(33:32):
Jason Tatum is is hurt. A bone contusion in your
wrist does not seem like something that's fun to have.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
So what was what was Mizilla's quote about persingus bleeding?
He's just like, I love, I love.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
I liked seeing his blood on the floor or something.
I think it's important. You know, I thought we were
gonna do best and worst.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
And oh what's your best? What's your best?

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Well, My best is missoula best thing from Dave here.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
That's right isause I love when Jason Tatum got hurt,
he wouldn't let the training staff go out and he
starts yelling get up. He is he has become this
this character, right and between.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
That the pis quote yeah man, he is.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Like, really I missed I missed that about him yelling
and just taite him to get up. Yeah, this is
I saw, Dave. I saw this in seven year old
girls soccer last last Saturday. So the other team, some
girl gets like hurt and goes down and like cries out.
And I'll tell you, Dave, as a parent, there, you

(34:43):
hear kids cry a lot, and you're like, that kid's fine.
You know, I don't know if every person has that,
like maybe most people. Maybe everyone has.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
That around a bunch of kids.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Parents, if you're around kids a lot, you're like, that
kid's fine. And and this was like the immediate cry
was like, oh that kid hurt. That kids sounds hurt,
you know, like that that kid's cry was not in
the normal cry. And we're talking about like a non
this is a I would describe this league as non competitive.
I mean, like our team's good. We actually were play
there seven seven first and second grade. This is not

(35:16):
but this is not like a travel thing where like
these kids practice multiple times. This is like it's it's
an open, non competitive, non tryout league. And the coach
of the other team said, stop crying, get up, And
this is seven, this is first and second grade girls,
and like this girl's crying to the point where where

(35:37):
our girls are Like this girl sounds hurt, you know,
like like and like there literally was like a sports
medicine person nearby, you know who had like that. I
knew this because they had they had the bag, you know,
like they strap in the bag and like this like
I don't know, I don't know if they were actually
officially working or just a parent or something like comes
over and it's like this goes hurt, like and we're

(36:00):
just sudding. They're like I can't believe that coach was
like stop crying, get up. I'm like, this is seven
year olds. Anyways, that just a she's just a Missoula.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Again, there is a shortage of good coaches for youth sports.
That is why I'm glad you're doing it.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
That's so true. Man, hey day had our fields got
rained out tonight. We're practicing on a on a pavement.
We're pricing on on a basketball court tonight. Can't wait.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Hey, that's fun, it will be fun. Get them to
kick threes.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
It's gonna it's gonna be wild because they're not they're
seven year old girls. But the uh oh, the Pistons
Pistons knicks. I didn't think. I didn't. I wasn't sure
the Pistons would be able to handle the crucible of
the playoffs so far. But I mean, yes, they sort
of collapsed in both games. Sure, but they they were

(36:55):
ahead in the first game and then in game two
they kind of out they sort of bad boy pistoned them.
There was no Isaiah Stewart. This was a gross game,
a low scoring game, tons of free throws.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
I think Cat's non existent.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
I think three Pistons players had double doubles, including Tobias
Harris grabbing the rebounds. Tibbs is complaining about Kad Cunningham
getting calls and not Jalen Brunson. Jalen Brunson is humiliating
himself just playing disgusting basketball. Man, have some shame these
games are televised. My my brother lives in Detroit. I

(37:33):
put this on social media and it struck a nerve.
This resonated with the people. My brother listened to Detroit
doesn't he watches the NBA, but not like hardcore or anything.
You know, He's a casual NBA fan. Sure, he's cheering
for the Pistons. He lives in Detroit. He texted me
after that game, He's like, my one goal for basketball
and the rest of my life is I aspired to

(37:54):
never watch Jalen Brnson play basketball again, Like as a
casual fans disgusted by the products.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Good job, everybody, funny job, every people will talk about
Shay Yeah doing that so much more than Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Right, Yeah, What do you expect for the rest of
the series. I mean, do you think the Pistons went
into Madison Square Garden and were I mean they got
a split and they were ahead and the one loss
in the fourth quarter. This has not been like a
situation where the Knicks look clearly better.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
I mean I think, like they just got to get
Karl Anthony Towns going. Yeah, and if they can do that,
then they just have more talent. What happened to og Ananobi?

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Like you know, he had.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
All those games where he's scoring like, you know, twenty
five thirty a game while Brunson was out, and now
he can't do anything.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Yeah, you know Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
What is it he who had the league in unassisted
made twos and unassisted may threes.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
I think he's also the clutch player of the year, right.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
I mean, it's just what is their offense? Just get
an easy bucket, a lesson's in transition. It's just I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
This is why. Look, I was.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Worried about, well, not worried, you know, but I was saying, hey,
I think the Pistons match up okay with the Knicks,
despite the fact that the Knicks have way more talent.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
I just thought, hey, they've got enough veterans on the Pistons,
they've got enough youth, right, Like there's athleticism there. I
just felt like, oh, this is tricky, especially because the
way that the Pistons play defense.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I didn't expect the Knicks to not be able to score. Yeah,
you know, that was supposed to be their thing.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Yeah, so that that Game three is tonight on Thursday night.
You mentioned the Knicks aren't getting out in transition and
getting easy baskets. Have you seen the fast breakpoints in
the Grizzly Thunder series total fast break points through two
you see the.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Total points, Keith well points, Let's just yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
The Grizzlies have been having one hundred points in both games.
They had only one game in the regular season with
the scored under one hundred. But right now through two
games the Thunder on fast break points it's forty eight
to eight. The Grizzlies don't have a fast breakpoint in
the first half yet of either game. It's it's hard
to watch. And also, by the way, Dave t and

(40:24):
T chose to broadcast that game tonight and not no Clippers.
What went into that decision.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
I don't you know what, man, the thunderd numbers.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
I know that, okay, I know that personally, you know
Keith like, if you throw Thunder that we're talking about
the Thunder and the title on YouTube, it'll do numbers, okay.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
And I think that that's a large part of it.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
And honestly, look, I don't want to be like the
the league guy who's like, well, if you put all
your marketing hat, but the truth is, man like the
Thunder are going to be.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Good for a while.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
Yeah, and you probably want to try to do the
thing that you did with the Warriors, right, like build
them up as one of your national, you know, sort
of teams instead of just in Oklahoma City where they
have a limited reach.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
So I think that there's that.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Now that's dumb because what you want is a good
basketball games.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
But also, why listen, why do we have to do
it where they're competing with each other, where the two
games are on it once like it is twenty twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
I understand. I understand early in the playoffs you're gonna
have the way they do it, you're gonna have knots
with three.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
But it does feel like they can stagger these out
a little bit like why, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
I just there was weird to me as a Grizzlies
fan because both the Thunder and the Grizzlies are in
Central time of course, right and the Grizzlies for their
first playoff game at home, have to host a eight
thirty local time tip, and it's like you could have
just done a normal tip and play it. Oh, I
don't know, Kawhi versus you know, Kitch on national TV

(42:02):
and and just had us. I know it's not you
say over the NBA TV game, but it's like, it
is what it is. You're a it's a one versus eight, it's.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
One versus eight.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
That's see one versus eight used to that used to
go on NBA TV.

Speaker 1 (42:15):
Everybody also, right, Dave, this is one thing maybe I'm
maybe I'm too sensitive as a Grizzlies podcaster. Can the
national media, while discussing this blowout of a series and
the Grizzlies at least acknowledge that the Grizzlies had the
same record as the Bucks and Warriors, right, you know,
they're like, this is oh, we should limit the playoffs
for the top seven. You're like, oh, this is why

(42:35):
playing team shouldn't be in there. They had the same
record as the Books. They would have been fifth in
the East. They would have been even higher because they
would have played an Eastern Conference schedule.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
Well, honestly, Keith, it's an easy way to like that.
In a lot of ways, it discounts the thunder Yeah
to say that, right, because of course the Grizzlies are bad.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
So good they're not even us. So actually, here's a question.
Let's go in and let's let's jump ahead or to
the UH listener submitted questions about the thunder I.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Just sounded like a thunder defender.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
There by the way, thunder Defender. That's your wrestling name, Dave. Anyways,
this is the croissant question.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Ah any questions?

Speaker 1 (43:15):
Yes? Are you going to finish that croissant?

Speaker 2 (43:20):
Knock yourself out?

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Magnus the question master Weston. Now, who is the more valuable? Wiggins?
Andrew or Oran.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Man?

Speaker 1 (43:42):
I gotta check the clutch numbers before I answer.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
I need those clutch numbers, you know, I don't know.
That's tough. I'm gonna say Andrew Wiggins.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
It's gotta be.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
It's a fun n question.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
Valuable Mitchell Donovan or Davion?

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Right?

Speaker 1 (43:57):
I say that. I say that in full respective Davion's
incredible game two?

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Yeah, what does.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
S Bonus think when Simonis tells the press that he
needs a point guard? What does he feel like when
he sees the photos of him standing beside Tyrese Haliburton,
Dearon Fox and Davion Mitchell?

Speaker 2 (44:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (44:20):
Awesome. Also, Davion Mitchell is that category of Let's Center,
like the Ti Jerome category or the Chris Donney category,
the I thought you weren't good, you know, like like
a word, you know what I'm saying. I'm saying like, no,
I'm saying, like a year ago, two years ago. I'm saying,
the Grizzlies waived Chris Dune when they got him in

(44:42):
a trade two years ago. I'm saying Ty Jerome was
like a two way slash signed for minimum. Anyone could
have had him. I'm saying Davion Mitchell was a giveaway
this year. Yeah, Dennis Shrewder was a giveaway this year.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
And he always does this stuff.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
But yeah, game, But I'm saying, like Davian Mitchell all
of a sudden has become like, wait, aye, you're good.
I as said you weren't good, you know, like I
never thought you were antil now he.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Was good in Sacramento as a rookie. Yeah, you know,
I mean the defense is incredible.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
I gotta say, going back to the Aeron versus Andrew.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
Wiggins, Oh I do love that question. That's so funny.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
So here's what's positive in a in Aaron Wiggins favor.
He's barely played, let's see, but they've just annihilated the
Grizzies in his minutes yea, so he's uh, when he's
four for eight on threes in the playoffs, he's scored.
He scored twenty nine points in twenty nine minutes. That's

(45:42):
all right, twenty nine points in thirty three minutes, So
he's yeah. And meanwhile, Andrew Wiggins shooting thirty three percent
is a minus.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Okay, thirty one on the all right, No, no, we
don't have to.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
I'm just messing around. Fun question. Thank you for the question, Magnus.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
Another quest that is a great question.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
Here's a basketball get this, this is an actual basketball question. Oh,
I'll let you answer. Uh. From from Mike. Mike wants
to know when guarding James Harden, why is Jamal Murray
shading towards his right hand and allowing him to drive left.
He does it every time, So it's on purpose for

(46:21):
some strategic reason, right.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
Yes, because left handed shooters shoot better going to their
right off the dribble. And also that's the way he
wants to go to get to his step back, right,
that's and that step back is the devastating move that's
that he's got, right, He gets so many three point
files on that. But that's why he also, like you're

(46:44):
more likely to force the ball out of his hand
going left because he's a stronger left handed passer.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
There you go, like driving left.

Speaker 1 (46:51):
I mean I remember, I mean we all remember, I'm guessing. Yeah,
James Harden in the playoffs being guarded from behind. Yeah,
they were just forcing him towards the LA They're like
pushing him into the paint.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Like threes are killing us that he wouldn't take the
mid range.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
Yeah, So I just you know, like and that's an
ineffective strategy now, just because the game has changed so
much in like the last five or six years. But yeah,
but Harden, I mean he is hard to guard. Again,
It's like it's like the Luka Dacic problem, like going
to going to his left, you worry about that him
getting into that step back or yeah, and then going

(47:30):
to the right. He's a better passer because it's his
dominant hand.

Speaker 1 (47:34):
So here's a here's a here's a question from me.
Who had who had the biggest difference in their two
games so far? Tied Jerome or Jalen Green. Jerome with
a massive Game one took over Game one did a
bunch of nothing in games. Jalen Green actively harmful to

(47:57):
the cause in game one.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
And everything in games.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
Yeah, Jalen Green, that's pretty good. What are your So,
are there any series where you have changed what you
think about it so far? After two games where you're like,
you know what, I thought so and so is gonna
be was gonna win easy, or that this team was
gonna win. Now I've changed my mind.

Speaker 3 (48:23):
I mean, maybe the Lakers wolve series in that. I'm
just confused. I mean, but the Wolves have been confusing
all year, right, like they'll have a good game and
then they'll throw out a dud. Like the Lebron thing
is interesting, like I want to see what says Lebron,
so I keep thinking about him reaggravating that groin injury,

(48:46):
and you know, Game one, like I've never watched a
game with Lebron in it where I didn't feel like
he was in it, you know what I mean? And
then Game two he looked great, and I wonder like,
are we on a roller coaster at this point?

Speaker 2 (48:59):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (49:00):
Like, is he not gonna be able to bring it
every single game? And again, this is two games, and
one of them was he had nineteen points, you know,
but it just was not a lot of impact in
my opinion. But I mean no, not really, I mean
not really, Keith, Like I haven't changed my mind or anything.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
I also, you know how I am about it, like
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
I tried it to be set like in what I think, right,
I want to watch it and see.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
I think our my memory of last week's episode, we
we both were like Timberwolves Lakers, that get that goes seven.
I think we both picked Lakers seven, and it's like
we thought Clippers Nuggets. I think we're like, I think
Clippers gonna win, but maybe maybe seven. The other you know,
Warriors Rockets. We thought Warriors maybe six or seven. I
still feel like, all right, that's that's that seems reasonable.

(49:45):
JJ Reddick did pull the one lever that you know
he had to him, which is like, I'm just gonna
play Jackson Hayes. Yeah, you know, like he played Austin Reeves,
Luca and Dorian Finny Smith. They're playing forty minutes, forty
plus minutes, and it's like all of a sudden, you know.
And also the Terribles weren't making three pointers, and maybe

(50:07):
some of that was Lakers adjustment. Maybe some of that's
just the shots weren't going in.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Nasred got into foul trouble Man for four fouls, and
I think de Vincenzo also had four early fouls.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
What about Sorry, I think about I think about I
think about the Lakers hunting Go Bear. Yeah, and then
I think about Gosh, Darius Garland's quote after game two, yeah,
where he flat out he was asked what are you
like what what? Like you know him, it was like,
what's the game plan? Yeah, and he just said, first thing,

(50:39):
go go at Tyler Tyler.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
Hero, Yeah, the one bad defender.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
And Hero had I mean we had thirty four points.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
Yeah, I mean, but this is I mean, that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Yeah, Like I mean, you know, it's funny for him
to pull the curtain back, but like, yeah you say
that before a game going after Rudy Gobert is smart.

Speaker 2 (50:57):
Yeah, like he is not Tyler Hero. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
The numbers on that, you know, like uh, Keith, it
was Lebron and Luca were like one for eight going
at go bet.

Speaker 1 (51:08):
Yeah. I'm trying to figure out we haven't have we
ignored Oh I guess we could. We've ignored Pacers Bucks.
So Damian Little returned obviously rusty Pacers have. There seems
to be a lot of ill will in that series.
But those two teams now back to the Bucks to

(51:30):
be able to bounce back. I mean, Gianness, what more
can you do? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (51:36):
I mean the Bucks are it's it is a bummer man,
because like Giannis is so good and we're gonna unfortunately
it looks like we're head.

Speaker 1 (51:45):
I wish I wish Janice was on Yok's team, or
I wish I wish Kawhi was on Yok's team. That
that was my my, my biggest takeaway from from game two.
I was like, man, I wish I wish Kawi and together. Anyway, guys,
let's just say, if you want your question answered on air,
you gotta be a Patreon supporter, Patreon dot com, slash

(52:05):

I guess I'll post everyone's picks for the first round
over in the slack pretty soon. So if you want
to if your question answer on air, you want to
join the listener slash channel, Let's Patreon dot com slash
Fast Break Breakfast. All right, Dave, Now it's time for

(52:30):
the words segment of the program, The International Stackhouse of Pancakes.
A word for the playoffs. So far we have a
few honorable mentions. Tim Hardaway junior over eight, Scottie Pippin
junior one for nine, Contavious Caldwell Pope one for nine,
and Russell Westbrook five for seventeen are three nominees. Jaron
Jackson Junior in Game one two for thirteen four points,

(52:53):
three rebounds to assist, one steal, three turn vers, one
personal foul, the Jalen Green Game one three for free
fifteen seven points, eight boards to assist, one turn for,
one personal foul. And then the Fred van Vleet Game
one four for nineteen ten points, seven assists, one still,
two turner vers, two personal fouls. So Jaren two for
thirteen four points, Jalen Green three for fifteen seven points,

(53:15):
Fred van Vleet four for nineteen ten points. This is
a tough one.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
It is a tough one.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
It all seemed those are all, in my mind, roughly equivalent.
It's like a two for thirteen, yeah, that kind of
equals a four for nineteen.

Speaker 3 (53:29):
Yeah. I don't know man like Van Vliet and Jalen Green.
Can they share the award?

Speaker 2 (53:35):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (53:37):
M yes, done, Yes, let's do it. Jaron Jackson Junior
off the hook, which is an absolute nothing game saved
going on there save for the lack of volume. At
least Jaren bounced back in Game two, had twenty six points,
started hitting his floaters, although he did still I think

(53:58):
missed it his first three shots of the game and
then got in foul trouble early on. That's a man.
So the one thing I'm watching for two things, I'm
watching for, uh Grizzlies thunder on Thursday night. Will the
Grizzlies try? Because there were many moments in both games
one and Games two where you're like, hey, you realize, uh,

(54:22):
it doesn't look like you're really trying that hard, like.

Speaker 2 (54:25):
I know, especially in comparison to the Yeah, well, like
I know, like I know.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
Is said, Joe's a pretty good player, but he's not
like Tony Allen, And he looks like Tony Allen going
to gets you guys, like he's chasing dow everything. He's
stealing the ball from you, like they're they're moving at
light speed and you guys are just chilling out. The
next is wondering can Zach Edi match Xavier Chillman's point
per game total from the Grizzlies last playoff series when

(54:50):
Zavior Chillman was the starting center. Right now, Xavier Hilman
has a big head start. He everged eight point seven.
Right now, Zaki, he's at four. So uh, let's see. Also,
John on char this came to my attention. He is
the lowest scoring player, arguably in the history of the postseason.
He's played one hundred and forty three postseason minutes in

(55:10):
sixteen appearances. He has fifteen points. Nine of them came
in one game. There's no no one's comparable, No one's comparable.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Are you okay, Keith? No?

Speaker 1 (55:21):
I have too many other useless Grizzlies stats. I think
we ended right there. I'm up against it with my
clock where I have to I have to duck out.
What are we looking for to? So what's I guess
we can wrap up on? What for you? Are you
most excited besides maybe Clippers Nuggets in the next couple
of days, which one of these series? Are are you

(55:43):
most excited to see where it goes?

Speaker 2 (55:46):
I mean Lakers Wolves.

Speaker 3 (55:48):
It's because it's fascinating, right, and I'll say Warriors Rockets too.
You know, I really enjoy watching Steph Curry play, so
I'm I would like to continue to see that. So
I'm curious like how they're how they're gonna work, especially
if Jimmy Butler has to miss a game, which I
actually unless there is something broken, I do not think
that guy is gonna miss a game.

Speaker 1 (56:08):
So that, I mean, we've obviously seen seen a hamper
Jimmy Butler in the playoffs before and just run into
injury issues where are like kind of the injuries are
what slowed him down. If the Warriors don't have Jimmy Butler,
then they are worse than the Grizzlies. I mean remember
then that's like a five hundred basketball team. Yeah, that's
that's that's going to be a problem to be dark.

(56:29):
So hopefully Jimmy can get it back together. Also, yeah,
like you said, the series that Rockets Rockets Warriors is
my most entertaining thing. I mean, obviously there's the Dylan
Brooks Draymond Green aspect. There is Steph like in Game one,
just doing Steph things. We're like, how do you can't
stop that? What do you do there? There's the Rockets
playing the huge lineup. I think would I think they

(56:50):
would have won Game one if they could have played
Steven Adams forty minutes, if Steven Adams was physically able
to play forty minutes. It felt like they were gonna
win because like the Warriors couldn't keep them off fit
the glass or anything. Right, the Rockets playing huge like
Jabari Smith at the three shouldn't get an Adam So yeah,
that's I think.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
And Jalen Green, by the way, is so freaking fun
to watch man.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
Yeah, that guy.

Speaker 3 (57:12):
I mean when he gets hot like that and you
know they haven't lost a game, they're undefeated.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
When he scores thirty.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
Oh wow, that's a good stat Yeah. I think that
series I'm most excited with. And also I guess the
Pistons to see how they do, Like can they go
up to one and then what happens and then what
kind of pressure ratchets up in that series. Anyways, that's
all we have time for today, Dave, thanks for hanging out, listeners.
You guys are the best. Thanks for listening, and remember

(57:39):
breakfast is the most important thing.
