County Fairgrounds dot net and cool Kand we're going to interview the Home and
Garden Show coming to the Colorado StateFairgrounds this weekend. I have Devin Vaughan
on the line with me. She'sgot a long title. It's director of
from would would you tell me yourtitle? Of course, it's director of
Programming and Partnerships here with the ColoradoState Fair Okay, all right? So

(00:24):
this is a home and garden show? Is it Saturday and Sunday? It
is Saturday from ten to five andSunday from ten to four. Okay,
all right? So, and Iunderstand it's a free event. It is
free admission, yep. And there'sa lot of parking available that's free also,
right, yep, plenty of freeparking here on the fairgrounds, kind

(00:47):
of just wherever wherever anybody can find. The building or the event is in
the Palace of Agriculture, so it'sright in the middle of the fairgrounds.
So yes, plenty of free parkingaround the building. So how long has
this event been going on? Andwhat's you know, a little bit of
the history of it. Yeah,so the history the history is a little
interesting. Before the fair kind oftook this event over the Publow Homebuilders Association

(01:12):
had promoted this event and put iton for a long time, I want
to say twenty years or so,and then when COVID happened. So this
Home and Garden show was the lastevent held at the fairgrounds in twenty twenty
before COVID shut everything down. Sothen after that, after COVID kind of
happened, the homebuilders Homebuilders Association decidedthey didn't want to do the event anymore.

(01:37):
So we being the fair, kindof took it over and decided to
kind of try and bring it backa little bit. So last year was
the first year. They took threeyears off and then last year we started
it again. So this is thesecond year that the State Fair has been
promoting this event. Okay, soyou've got a lot of vendors. I
would presume man's what's in there specificallythat should not be missed. Yeah,

(02:04):
we have a ton of great vendors. Most of them are local. Here's
Colorado. So if you need windows, you know, we have windows,
We have solar, We have differentkinds of like filters, like leaf,
leaf guard, leaf filters, thingslike that. For your gutters. We
have different sheds, We have mattresses. We have Tesla is going to be

(02:27):
here. You can do a nota test drive, but a like ride
with them. We have some differentlandscapers things like that, So all kinds
of different things, different companies, businesses ready to help get get your yard
and your house in order for springand summer. Yeah, you got any
roses? I don't know the answerto that. We will see. We

(02:51):
definitely have some landscapers and planters.Probably not yet, though I would assume
my student's still a little early forthose. Oh I don't know, is
there outside? I'm a rose lover, That's why I ask. Okay,
all right, So, and youhave concessions, so there's places where people
can eat. Correct. We willhave concessions open both Saturday and Sunday,

(03:12):
which it owns here in the agPalace. So yesthough, I'll open whenever
the show is open for food anddrink. Okay. Do you have any
idea how many vendors you have?I believe it's around fifty. Okay,
So you think that the color ofthe state fear grounds them will keep doing
this show every year? Yes,yep, it is definitely in our plan

(03:34):
to keep doing this show every yearin the spring. We're still kind of
trying to figure out the best date, the best time, you know,
in the early in the year todo the show. This one this year
is a little earlier than we didlast year, so again just trying to
find the right weekend in the righttime. But yes, this is something
we plan on continuing every year. Are you going? I am, I

(03:55):
will. I will be there.I will be working a little bit,
but yes, I'll have to bethere. I need to. I need
to look into some solar for myhouse. So yes, I plan on
going and visiting with a few ofour vendors. Yes, heaven no,
solar is certainly important these days.Absolutely absolutely, just for the energy savings
alone, I think it makes sensefor a lot of a lot of homeowners.

(04:16):
So okay, is this the onlyuh like garden show that the Third
Grounds hosts all year? Then asfar as like a consumer kind of show
where we have vendors and things likethat, yes, we do have.
We work with our local four hoffice, our four each four each extension,
and every spring their master gardeners doa plant sale, so we have

(04:38):
a few events like that throughout theyear. But as far as like a
vendor show, home and garden related. Yes, this is the only one
that happens at the fairgrounds. ButI would imagine that when the State Fair
comes around, there's there's kinds ofthings that the State there isn't there.
Yeah, absolutely, some of thevendors that are here this weekend are definitely
at the fair as well. Okay, I and what ours is this event?

(05:00):
Yep? So Saturday, we're goingto be open from ten to five
and then on Sunday from ten tofour. Okay, So I'll tell you
what. We'll get this up andmaybe you can get more attendance. All
right, sounds great, Thank you, Thank you very much, Devin.
You're welcome. Have a good day. Bye bye bye
