Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hello, Welcome to the Porch on Firefall Talk Radio. I'm
Richard Grund. This is where you find the uncompromised red
letter basics of the Word of God. We focus on
the Book of Acts Church to see how they serve
the Lord. When we do that, we find the Church
the Lord intended and not the one Man created. The
(00:42):
Porch is a non denominational, full Gospel approach to the Bible.
It's based on the examples from the Book of Acts Church,
and it aims to restore the priesthood of the believer
while regaining the world's shaking influence of the early Church.
The Church and over the Upper Room experience is as
much for today as it was on the day of Pentecost.
(01:06):
It's yours if you want it. We offer you the
Word as the Apostles would have to the Jewish and
Gentile believers of their day. We use both the Yeshuah
and Jesus when speaking of the Lord. We prefer the
term Messiah rather than Christ, as it more accurately reflects
how he was referred to by those who knew him. Additionally,
(01:30):
we provide definitions in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic when necessary.
Getting back to basics is in just our motto. It's
a mandate from the Lord. Links to all of our

need prayer well, you'd like to pray for others in
the Porch community, we'll plug you in. Remember that we
(02:34):
care about you. Prayer for the healing bug that's going around.
Some people still have it. It's been around for weeks.
Remember to stand fasten the faith in the power of
His name. Pray to go back to your divine design
and rebuke the enemy and the devour and the spirit
of infirmity. Read Psalm ninety one. Over yourself, your home,
(02:54):
your family, you past, your possessions. Pray for our persecuted
brothers and sisters or around the world to being slaughtered
for their faith. The places of worship are being burnt
to the ground, and the world just doesn't seem to care.
And pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which means the
return of the Prince of Peace. So let's go before
(03:17):
the Father right now. Let's boldly approach his throne of
grace and mercy, saying Abbah, Papa Daddy, we love you.
We thank you for all that we have. I thank
you for my home, my wife, my family, our pets,
our possessions. I thank you for being my Abba, my papa.
Having come from a broken home, you are my dad.
(03:40):
Thank you for that. I asked that my other brothers
and sisters and the body feel that as well. Thank
you for your love, your undying love for us, and
for sending you Shua, your only begotten son, to pay
for our sins so that we could be reconciled to you.
(04:01):
That the veil is torn into there is no longer
a blockage between us and you. Thank you for that.
Thank you, Lord for doing it. Thank you for shedding
your blood. Thank you for encouraging us and teaching us
and empowering us through your Holy Spirit. Thank you for
(04:23):
the resurrection power which you have imported to us. Thank
you Holy Spirit for walking with us, for encouraging us
and guiding us. We ask that you do that tonight,
that this word go forth, it does what you intend
for it to do. We pray protection overall that we have.
(04:44):
We pray protection over this technology. Don't let the enemy
interfere with it in any way, shape or form. We
take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Messiah and
claim the mind of Messiah, casting down every vain imagination
that would exalt itself above the knowledge of ely On
God most High, our Father. So let it happen, Lord,
(05:06):
Let your word go forth, your spirit be felt, the
enemy be defeated. And we pray all of these things
in your shoe his name. And if you agree with me,
say amen. These lessons are proprietary information, except where not

If you get the weekly scriptures, you have the ability
to do that. Follow along, get this word inside of you.
We're in part three of the Gifts of the Spirit.
We're going to wrap it up tonight. Let me read
you a quote from A W Tozer. Do you want
(06:25):
to be filled with the Spirit, who, though he is
like Jesus and his gentleness and love, will nevertheless demand
to be lord of your life? Are you willing to
let your personality be taken over by another, even if
that other be the Spirit of God himself. If the
Spirit takes charge of your life, he will expect unquestioning
(06:47):
obedience in everything. He will not tolerating you the self sins,
even though they are permitted and excused by most Christians.
You will find the Spirit to be in sharp opposition
to the easy ways of the world and of the
mixed multitude within the precincts of religion. He will be
(07:09):
jealous over you for good. He will not allow you
to boot boast, or swagger or show off. He will
take the direction of your life away from you. He
will reserve the right to test you, to discipline you,
to chasten you. For your soul's sake. He may strip
you of many of those borderline pleasures which other Christians enjoy,
(07:34):
but which are to you a source of refined evil.
Through it all, he will enfold you in a love
so vast, so mighty, so all embracing, so wondrous, that
your very losses will seem like gains, and your small
pains like pleasure. Amen. Aw Amen, We know from the
(07:57):
Word that the promises of God are yes. An Amen.
Tell yourself that the promises of God are yes, and Amen. Well,
he made a promise Lough twenty four forty nine. Behold,
I send the promise of My Father upon you, but
terry and the city of Jerusalem, until you are endued
(08:20):
with power from on high in dude clothed. To give
qualities of properties or abilities to the promise of the
Father is the Holy Spirit. It is the power of
the Kingdom of God given to the Church on the
day of Pentecost to initiate the harvest. This the means
(08:42):
and the power for service serving him in his kingdom,
come through the gifts of the Spirit. Go with me
to first Corinthians twelve, starting verse four. This is the
new King James version. There are divers of gifts, but
the same spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the
(09:04):
same Lord. There are diversities of activities, but it is
the same God who works all in all, but the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for
the prophet of all. For to one has given the
word of wisdom through the spirit to another, the word
of knowledge through the same spirit to another, Faith by
(09:28):
the same spirit to another, gifts of healings by the
same spirit to another, the working of miracles to another,
prophecy to another, discerning of spirits to another, different kinds
of tongues to another, the interpretation of tongues. But one
and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to
(09:50):
each one individually as he wills. So we've talked about
the gifts mentioned in one Corinthians twelve is the word
of knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, discerning of spirits, prophecy, tongues.
And in the interpretation of tongues it was clear that
(10:14):
the church in corinth understood the supernatural. They understood the
paranormal that came from that world. What they did not
understand was the particular nature of the person of the
Holy Spirit and the gifts that he was imparting. He
said to the church now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I
do not want you to be ignorant. I don't want
(10:36):
you to misunderstand this. I don't want you to be
misinformed when we need that message today, church, because we
are at times misinformed and we misunderstand. So the gifts
fallen to three natural divisions, the gift of revelation, which
(10:58):
are the mind gifts, the gifts of inspiration, which are
the vocal gifts, and the gifts of power, which on
the working gifts. They all work together, and they work
in concert with the fruit of the spirit. So the
rest of the gifts that we're going to focus on
(11:18):
from First Corinthians Cointhians. I don't know what Cointhians are.
If you know what a Cointhian is, you tell me
you sill they wit. First Corinthians twelve. The Verbal manifestations
of the Spirit, prophecy, tongues and interpretation of tongues we've
(11:39):
covered prophecy a little bit, but now we're going to
do tongues in the interpretation of tongues. But well, we'll
tie them all together. First Corinthians twelve, ten and eleven.
He gives to one person miracles and to another the
ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to
discern whether it is from the Spirit of God or
(12:00):
from another spirit. Still, another person has given the ability
to speak in unknown languages. Well, another has given the
ability to interpret what is being said. So the Spirit
is the one who distributes these gifts. He alone decides
which gift each person should receive. So the gift of prophecy,
(12:23):
let's talk about that briefly, included receiving a message directly
from God through special revelation, being guided and declaring it
to the people, and being authenticated in some way by
God himself. Usually and almost always, it'll line up with
the word. If it doesn't, it has to be set
(12:45):
aside until the Spirit says keep it, investigate it, or
reject it. Case in point. And when I was going
through my enact period. When I was going through that
period with the Lord was showing me things and downloading
things into my brain and taking me into the spirit,
if you will, to just teach me and change me.
(13:06):
He started to show me so many things that had
a hint of my new age past, and so I
immediately had that knee jerk reaction, what are you doing, Lord,
This can't be you. Which he then had to show
me how everything the enemy showed me during that period
of time was a counterfeit of the truth. So he
had to show me the truth. He had to show
(13:27):
me through the word. He had to give me divine
revelation and then show me where it was confirmed in
his word. But being able to prophesy doesn't make someone
a profit. That is one of the big misunderstandings in
the church today. Just because somebody can prophesy and give
a message and prophecy doesn't make you a profit. A
(13:50):
prophet is a full time office and it involves correction, direction,
and it will involve encouragement. This kind of prophecy is,
as First Corinthians fourteen three says, is edification, exhortation, and comfort.
He who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
(14:18):
This is for the blessing of the community. This is
for the lifting up and if you will, the gentle
nudging of the community. So one Corinthians fourteen three is
not the definition of a prophet edification, exhortation, and consultation,
but it is the characteristics of a prophetic message. So
(14:43):
just because someone does that, it does not make them
a profit. I'm banging this drum. Well, of course I
used to be a drummer, but I'm banging this drum
because so many people out there are profit this and
profit is that, and they're not. First of all, if
you have to tell me that's what you are, you're not.
(15:04):
The gift of prophecy was very active in New Testament times,
but scripture in the New Testament only mentions a few prophets, specifically,
case in point, profits for telling the famine that was
coming Jerusalem to Antioch. You have Agabus and Acts eleven.
(15:27):
Then you have the church and the prophets in the
Church of Antioch and Acts thirteen. You had Philip and
his four daughters who had the gift of prophecy Acts
twenty one to nine. And then there were profits mentioned
from the church in corinth one Corinthians fourteen. And let
me throw a little wrinkle in this I have been
(15:48):
taught by Pastor Shelley and believe that the true office
of the apostle contains all other five officers Apostle, profit, evangelist, pastor, teacher.
So the gift of prophecy is a message directly from
God through special revelation. He guides it, gives it to
(16:09):
the people, he gets authenticated. It may include telling the future,
or it is a message for that time. Case in
point it was we were in a church one day
Christian herid it and Shelley allowed me to grow, and
he allowed me to speak and tongue. He allowed me
to interpret, and in the midst of an interpretation one
day it was it was encouraging the church. It was
(16:31):
very powerful, and then in the middle it went completely
off in left field, made no sense. And then brought
me back, and Shelley came up to me and said,
what'd you do? Did you lose it in the middle?
I said, I don't know. That happened to a woman
standing there, and she said, no, that middle part was
just for me. It answered a direct question about something,
a problem that I was having in my life, a
(16:52):
legal problem, and I didn't know what to do, and
your words answered it directly. That's how the spirit works.
Will just let him flow so exhorting and encouraging and
comforting and directing. So the prophet speaks correction, guidance and instruction,
(17:15):
prophecy exhortation. And you know that you have to be
commissioned by God to speak for him. And if you're
not commissioned, and if you have not been tested and confirmed,
that falls into the category of a false prophet. Now,
the gifts of tongues and the interpretation of tongues are
(17:37):
interrelated with prophecy. As I just explained from my experience
back in the day, no one can exercise the gift
of interpretation unless the gift of tongues has been used.
The gift of tongues can be used without interpretation under
some circumstances, but that is not encouraged. If you're going
(18:00):
to speak a message, then there has to be someone
there to interpret it. The gifts must work together. Now
the Holy Spirit by Charles Ririe gives us a little
insight into tongues. Although tongues have appeared throughout the history
of the Church, the contemporary phenomenon had its beginning in
(18:23):
nineteen oh one with Miss Agnes Osmond in Topeka, Kansas.
Tongues were considered to be the evidence of having been
baptized with the Holy Spirit. This teaching and experience spread rapidly.
Hold on, let me take a drink here. I'm sorry,
I'm a little excited in speaking very fast, because I
like talking about the Holy Spirit, and I believe he
(18:44):
likes it too. The teaching and experience spread rapidly, but
was largely confined to the thousands of Pentecostal churches that
came into being with their millions of members. Then, beginning
in nineteen sixty an Episcopal director named Dennis Bennett, tongues
began to break out in mainline denominations like the Episcopal
(19:08):
Church and other parachurch organizations, and even among some Roman Catholics.
So tongues and the interpretation of tongues is an external
manifestation of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It means
you're available to be a mouthpiece for the Holy Spirit.
That's what it is. You have to be available, and
anything in its way has to be out of its way.
(19:31):
I remember when I got prayed for to receive the
Spirit and almost immediately began to speak in tongues. And
of course I thought it was gibberish, and the actor
training of me kicked in and I took back control
and it began to speak clearly, and Shelley said, up,
you almost had it, but you couldn't let go of control.
(19:51):
And about a week later, as I was walking down
the street at four o'clock in the afternoon, story of
queens walking towards my apartm and praying for my cousin
who was dying in a hospital from HIV, I began
to cry out to the Lord and I began to
intercede from my cousin Bobby, and the next thing I knew,
what was coming out of my mouth was no longer English.
(20:13):
The Holy Spirit took control with groanings which could not
be uttered. It is a controversial, yes, it's very contentious,
very provocative, debated, notorious that people have a lot of
problems with it. A lot of the mainline preachers and
teachers and big name preachers and teachers have a problem
with it. Some directly would call me and what I do,
(20:34):
not just with tongues or casting out of demons and
all the other stuff, demonic. They would call me Beelzebob,
kind of like the Pharisees did Jesus, and speaking in
tongues is probably the most controversial phenomenon Christianity, but the
subject should not be shunned or considered unimportant to the church.
(20:56):
God does not waste his time or our time, and
does not fill his book with things of no importance.
And don't tell me all of the spirit died and
those are no longer important. You're telling me, my heavenly
Father can't write a book that transcends time. And when
he says the Spirit will abide with you forever, permanent residence,
(21:17):
he means it. Most of the critics of tongues have
never spoken in tongues, that they speak as though they
are experts on the topic, when in fact they teach
only from a concept of tongues and not from any
experiential knowledge. And there have been some that fit that
category who God has literally taken off their feet and
(21:41):
given them the gift to where they would have to recant,
and it's interesting they become the most vocal proponents of
the gift later on understanding why the church doesn't have
it and what it takes for the Spirit to give
it to you. Because it's governed by the Holy Spirit,
(22:02):
and I will tell you it is administered in self
control and love. If somebody says to me, you know
that wasn't me talking, that was just his Holy Spirit.
And I say what he says to say, stop self
control and love. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. So
(22:22):
the New Testament mentions tongues twenty six times, once in Mark, sixteen,
four times in Acts, twenty one times in First Corinthians.
These indications of it in the Old Testament as well.
Moses and Joshua in the camp the prophets began to
prophesy King Saul. When he went with the prophets, he
(22:43):
prophesied he was speaking in tongues. But while that number
is relatively low compared to its emphasis of modern Charismatic
and Pentecostal movements, references the prophecy often incorporate tongues as well.
Remember in the second chapter of Acts, when Peter explains
to the crowd what they just heard coming out of
(23:06):
the upper room. This, the speaking with tongues, is what
the prophet Joel told you about. Joel two twenty eight.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy Moses did it, Saul
did it? The prophets in the old days, did it.
Let's talk about tongues one Corinthians twelve ten different kinds
of tongues, the interpretation of tongues. So the New Testament
(23:30):
through Paul indicates that it was common and considered desirable
in Corinth. Some members of the church uttered sounds. The
rest of the congregation did not recognize, and this began
to They didn't understand it, they didn't know what was
going on in the controversy and division happened. And the
(23:51):
ones who moved in it probably was very dramatic with it,
and the others rejected it, and so you now you
got this schism. So Paul's got to unite the church.
He's got to assure them that there are different gifts,
but it is the spirit that's in charge. So we're
talking about a spiritual language that requires a spiritual gift
(24:17):
to interpret so that it could be understood. And by
placing the gift at the bottom of the list, Paul
shows the lesser priority to be attached to the gift,
which the church in Corinth had become overly enamored with.
You know, he said, I wish you all spoken tongue
as I do but let me show you the best
(24:38):
gift of all. And then it gets into love. We
see it in Acts ten, when Peter is still speaking
in Cornelius's house, the Holy Spirit falls on Gentiles. All
those listening to him boom, spirit felling them, and they
(24:59):
begin to speak with tongues, and they begin to magnify God.
And of course the Jews were astonished. The Jews were
of the circumcision. These are uncircumcised Gentiles. And the fulfillment
of prophecy. By the way, Peter, the prophecy you spoke
about on the day of Pentecost. Even Peter had to
have his eyes open to be corrected. And then he
(25:20):
tells the story later on the Jerusalem Council in Acts eleven,
and he says to them, as I began to speak,
the Holy Spirit fell upon them as upon us in
the beginning, meaning the day of Pentecost. And then I
remember the word of the Lord, how he said John
and teed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized
(25:40):
with the Holy Spirit. If therefore God gave them the
same gift as he gave us when we believed on
the Lord Yeshua Hmoshia Jesus the Messiah. Who was I
that I could withstand God? And some of the preachers
and teachers of day need to read this day, need
to read that scripture. Who were they to withstand God?
(26:05):
Look at Acts nineteen Chapter one. Now Acts nineteen is
the chapter first one Paul's at Ephesus. As it happened,
while Paulus was at Corinth. Paul, having passed through the
Upper region, came to Emphasis, finding some disciples. He said
to them, did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? So?
They said to him, we have not so much has
(26:26):
heard whether there is a Holy Spirit. And Paul said
to them into what were you baptized? And they said,
into John's baptism. Then Paul said, John indeed baptized with
the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they
should believe on him capital h who would come after
him meeting John the baptist, that is on Messiah Yeshua.
(26:48):
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name
of the Lord Jesus. I don't now you show. And
when Paul laid hands on them, the spirit came upon them,
and they spoke with tongues and prophesy. Now the men
were about twelve. In all these signs will follow those
who believe in my name. They will cast out demons,
(27:09):
they will speak with new tongues. So what's the issue. Well,
the issue is, like that person said, I believe most
people that complain about it are simply trying to explain
why they don't have it. No doubt, tongues are ae
a divine gift, a divisive gift. But they're divine and
it should not be forbidden. Why else would Paul have
(27:31):
to say in First Corinthians fourteen thirty nine. Therefore, brethren
desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak
with tongues, And yet so many organizations do that very thing.
One Corinthians fourteen eighteen. I thank my God, I speak
with tongues more than you all. It's even off often
(27:54):
called by those critics static gibberish. It's you know, who
don't have any experience with it. They want to describe
it as they see it. By it, we speak to God.
It involves communication, We speak mysteries, which Paul says in
One Corinthians fourteen two. For he who speaks in a
(28:15):
tongue does not speak to men, but to God, for
no one understands him. However, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
It will always lead to spiritual truth when it's from Him.
And I will tell you this, it brings comfort when
you don't know what to pray, you don't know what's
(28:36):
going on. Just let your prayer language take over, and
before you know it, the Holy Spirit will empower you,
will energize you, comfort you, and bring peace. So the
Greek word clearly that he's using for tongues, it means languages,
not nonsense, syllables, not gibberish. And for those who scorn it,
(29:00):
it's a sign that the hardening is taking place. And
that's what he was warning about in Corinth one Corinthians fourteen,
starting verse twenty one, and the law it is written
with men of other tongues and of other lips. I
will speak to this people, and yet for all that
they will not hear me. Therefore, tongues are a signed
not to those who believe, but two unbelievers. But prophesign
(29:24):
is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe. Therefore,
if the whole church comes together in one place, and
I'll speak with tongues, and they're coming those who are
uninformed or unbelievers. Will they not say that you are
out of your mind? Yeah, that's exactly what they'll say.
I've always had a problem with. And this is me personally.
(29:46):
Mass tongue talking here, everybody, We're all gonna speak in
tongues right now. Just get your prayer language going, and
just keep going until the spirit stops, because if there
are un believers present, you have just now excluded them
from the situation. And while randomly every now and then
(30:09):
somebody will get touched by it or hear it. When
you have come together as the Church in worship and
in fellowship, there should be decency and there should be order.
In the book what the Bible says about the Holy
Spirit says no matter how speaking in tongues sounds, whether
(30:29):
it is the language of men or of angels. As
Paul says, tongues means languages in both Acts and in Corinthians.
When we pray in tongues, our spirit praise, since our
spirit is the medium through which the gift operates, and
thus involves yielding our spirits and our wills to God
(30:51):
as well as our tongues. Literally in vocal organs for
the operation of the gifts. Result is a language as
the spirit gives utterance. According to Paul, their love for them,
the love for the gift, the love for the manifestation
was showy and childish. And if you possess the gift,
(31:17):
you not to think that you're anything special, or that
you have the only gift worth obtaining, because the only
gift that is utterly indispensable is love. This is the
better way. Though I speak with the tongues of men
(31:37):
and of angels, the two categories right there, But have
not love. I have become sounding brass or a clanging symbol.
First Corinthians thirteen one, First Corinthians fourteen one and two.
Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you
may prophesy. But he who's and a tongue does not
(32:01):
speak to men, but to God, for no one understands them. However,
in the spirit he speaks mysteries. The International Standard Bible
Encyclopedia covers this as well. This is very in depth.
There's a lot of information out there if you really
want it. The words so uttered were incomprehensible to the congregation,
(32:25):
even to the speaker itself. Edification was gained by the speaker,
but this was the edification of the emotional experience only
talking about the church in Corinth and what Paul's talking about.
The words were spoken quote in the spirit. The ordinary
faculties were suspended, and the divine element and the man
(32:49):
took control, so that a condition of ecstasy was produced.
This immediate mystical contact with the divine enabled the utter
of mysteries, things hidden from the ordinary human understanding. The
word for tongue glossa is a fairly common use in
the Greek to designate obsolete or incomprehensible words, and specifically
(33:15):
for the obscure phrases uttered by an oracle. This use
closely parallel to the use in corinth and maybe its source,
although it would be more natural if the ten thousand
Words and Tongues of Corinthians fourteen nineteen had read ten
thousand glossi, so gloss alelia. That's what it's technically called,
(33:37):
theologically called gloss of tongue lelia talking. It's the approximation
of words utterances that seem like words. Mine happened to
have a very specific, initially Hebrew lilt to it. First time,
I actually first time I actually heard it. My brother
(33:57):
in law, John was praying over him and began to
speak in tongues and sounded like he was speaking in Hebrew,
And I asked him what he was saying, and he
said he didn't know. You know, he was speaking in
tongues over me, so it sounded like a language. So
the vocal organs are taken over, the tongue moves, and
this speech pours forth. Now the speaker may be able
(34:21):
to interpret it. The witnesses should be able to interpret it.
But the conversation is between us and the Lord. He's
speaking through us. Now can the enemy do this? Yes,
I've heard demonic tongues. I know I've told you this,
but you may not have heard the story. During the
period of time that I was very active confronting the
(34:42):
demonic in Tallahassee, the phone would ring between three and
three thirty. First time I answered it, it was you
know which on the other line, cursing me, trying to
lay curses on me, And it got to the point
I knew that nobody that I personally knew would call
me at that time. So the phone rang between three
and three thirty. I answered it in tongues, and then
(35:04):
they started speaking back in their Satanic tongue. One time,
one of the witches said, now tell me what I said,
and I said, I don't care what you said, because
what you said has no value to me. What I
said came from the King of Kings and the Lord
of Lords. The day of Pentecost came and they were
all together in that upper room. They were waiting for
(35:26):
the promise of the Father, and suddenly came that sound
from heaven as a rushing, mighty win And if you've
ever heard it, you know it's supernatural. And it began
to fill the whole house where they were sitting. And
then suddenly they could see divided tongues as of fire.
One would sit upon each of them. And when that happened,
(35:46):
they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began
to speak in a heavenly language as the spirit gave
each one something to say. So it showed at that
moment the infilling of the Holy Spirit had begun, and
that's what would continue you throughout the life of the Church,
and I believe it still continues today. But to say, oh,
(36:07):
if you don't speak in tongues, you know that you
haven't been filled. It took a week or so, No,
actually maybe two weeks, we'll say a couple of weeks
from the time I was prayed to receive it to
the time it manifested. But on that particular day one
hundred and twenty stepped out of the Upper Room and
inspired three thousand salvations. The harvest had begun. That's what
(36:31):
it was for. It wasn't for a show, it wasn't
to cause a problem. It was to begin the harvest
divine power to alter and renew people from the inside
out and to do what they did. And what we're
called to do is going to take a boldness that
only the Holy Spirit can give us. And it will
(36:52):
require the wisdom that only the Holy Spirit can offer.
And both of those things will require you to take
action and allow the Holy Spirit to use you. It
should be spontaneous. It should be happening because you sought it.
Oh you want to be seen to have it. It
(37:14):
should just be spontaneous. You don't know it's coming. It's
divinely inspired. So tongues is what it's a part of
the great commission. Tools. These signs will follow. That's what
the Lord said and on the day of Pentecost we
got what first fruits of the spirit, the first fruits
of Messiah's Church, the beginning of the great harvest of
(37:36):
souls who had come to know Messiah and be joined
together into a living entity we call the body through
the Holy Spirit, the Lifeblood. And just like on Mount Sinai,
exactly like on Mount Sinai, the Lord had gotten their
attention a sound, a rushing mighty wind. All the multitudes
(38:01):
had to look, what is that I hear? And this
one hundred and twenty are speaking now? And I know
people say, well, they were speaking in the language of
those people. It doesn't say that, It says, how do
I hear them in my language? So they could either
have been speaking their language or they were given the
(38:24):
ability to hear it in the language. I've heard a
number of personal testimonies of people going somewhere and speaking
in a tongue that was weird to them, weird to
everybody around them, and just happened to be the language
of the people they were with. Brother in law John
told the story they were on a mission strip and
they were in some church, and I forget where he
(38:46):
hid he was, and one of the members of the choir,
was very embarrassed because his tongue sounded like almost a
clicking sound. But when it happened, he couldn't stop it,
and he was always embarrassed by it. But the place
that they happen to be, the people understood have the
Spirit is in control. And when that fire fell, they
(39:10):
knew it was from the Lord. Tongues of fire, from
the Holy Spirit, to and set them on fire, to
set the church on fire, to get things going, to
get the enemy out of the way. I know this much.
It's been my experience that the enemy does not like
anointed tongues. But while the little ones will pop and
(39:34):
disappear and run away, the big heavy hitters will not.
They'll stand and they'll fight, but they'll recognize that the
power that created them is inside of you. The International
Standard Bible Encyclopedia goes on to say, when the day
of Pentecosta has fully come, and the disciples, no doubt,
(39:54):
by previous arrangement with one in court, they win the
upper room, they in one place, and on the fiftieth
day after Passover, the first day of the week, which
was the Lord's Day, the spirit of God descended upon
them in marvelous, conspicuous power, and the gifts of the
(40:15):
spirit was accompanied by extraordinary manifestation or phenomena. It was supernatural.
His coming, first appeal to the ear. Holy Spirit had
something to say. He still does. So the disciples heard
that sound from heaven. It's like a storm rushing in.
(40:37):
But yet doesn't say there was wind. That heard the wind.
It was the sound of the spirit. It was that movement.
It was what you sure talks about Nicodemus, Holy spirits,
like the wind. You don't know where it's come from,
you don't know where it's going. It was a foreshadowing.
He was describing what filled the house, the sound, not
(40:59):
a wind. It was invisible, but it produced audible effects.
Then the eye saw what appeared to be tongues of fire.
And then everybody individually got touched, each one so that
particular day, fifteen nationalities are heard their own language, and
(41:22):
some became born again. Some heard about the wonderful works
of God, and they wanted that give me some of that.
You know, as I'm talking about this and reading these
notes and sharing this with you, just have to say this.
If somebody's against this individually, corporately, organization wise, I have
(41:46):
to wonder what the influence of the enemy is on
that person or that group, because the only one who
would not want this, would not want the Holy spirit present,
would be an unholy spirit, because it portrays the presence
of God. You know what's interesting about this, tongues of fire.
And I'll probably get be controversial here as if I
(42:10):
would actually do that. It's mentioned in the Book of Enoch.
Enoch gets taken up into a vision, gets taken up
into heaven, and he sees a wall built of stones
and crystal, and a vibrating flames surrounding it, and of
course it strikes terror in him, but he is inspired
(42:32):
to enter the vibrating flame, and he gets beyond the
wall of that flame, and he sees a habitation with
stones of crystals, and the pavement is stones of crystals,
and the ground and the walls and the roof is
there's flashings of lightning and stars, and among them of
the Cherubim of fire. Now little baby angel, these big, strong,
(42:57):
mighty angels, and a flame burned around its walls, and
the portal the opening blazed with fire. And he enters
into that dwelling and it was both as hot as fire,
as cold as ice. Terror overwhelms me, starts shaking fearfully completely.
He's violently agitated. He's traveling. He falls upon his face,
(43:22):
and then he saw there was even another, greater, more
spacious habitation beyond this interest, which he would go through.
And the glory of it was magnificent, and it was
impossible to describe either the splendor or the extent of it.
Its floor was on fire, and you had above there
were the lightnings and the stars, and the roof was fire.
(43:47):
And then he saw it. There was a throne, an
exalted throne in one in great glory, sat upon it,
whose robe was brighter than the sun and whiter than snow.
No angel was case of penetrating to face to view
the face of him, the glorious, an effulgent one, Nor
could any mortal behold him. A fire was flaming all
(44:10):
around him. And another part I didn't copy it. He
talks about these flames flickering like tongues, and the fire
rose up before him, and you couldn't get to him.
But then suddenly he saw another one, as if that
looked like the son of man. So you have both
the father, the ancient of days and the sun in
(44:31):
the midst of this area, on this throne, in the
middle of all this fire, and suddenly hears a voice say,
appro hither enoch. I was found it fascinating as I
read that for the first time he was describing, long
before the day of Pentecost, tongues of fire being associated
with the living God. Let's talk about the interpretation of tongues.
(44:54):
It is the ability to explain or translate the tongues
spoken in the congregation so that the entire group might benefit.
It's a supernatural ability to speak into the native language
what had been heard in this heavenly language. And many
times it'll happen that the individual interpreting may not even
(45:17):
know the language that's being spoken when the Lord uses
one of the languages of the earth. Reinhard Banki says
tongues activated the present worldwide Holy Spirit emphasis and became
the catalyst for an evangelistic thrust which has eclipsed everything
before it both an enterprise and success. Speaking with tongues
(45:41):
is often given the Greek name glossilelia because there are
various ideas about tongues, their origins, and what they are.
Tongues are earthly or celestial languages spoken only by believers
born again believers, as the Holy Spirit gives them a terance,
meaning the Spirit is speaking. The speakers may not know
(46:04):
what they're saying, being spiritually empowered. Interpretation must be by
the same means. If tongues takes place in worship, addressed
to the whole company, and interpretation must follow. I was
blessed to not only have the tongues, but to have
the interpretation, so that when I heard it, I would
(46:25):
know that it was the right thing, and it got
through the point where even though I was speaking in
a heavenly language, my brain was hearing it in my
language in English, so that when Pastor Shelley, who normally
was the one who would interpret every now and then
be one or two other people, I would know what
I had just spoken in tongues had been correctly presented
(46:48):
to the congregation. Now sometimes I would do both, but
more often than not, if I spoke in the tongue,
shall be interpret it, or if he spoke I interpret it.
Just happened to be locked in that way one Conthian's
fourteen thirteen. Let him who speaks in tongues pray that
he may interpret. But if there is no interpreter Verse
(47:09):
twenty eight, let him keep silent, let him speak to
himself and God. That means control. That means you know
well enough when to open your mouth and when not
to open your mouth. This I couldn't stop my self.
Excuse does it work? The Holy Spirit will tell you
say it now. There have been times I've heard a
(47:29):
message in my head that he has not released me
to say, or other times I'd hear it and he'd say, Now,
he's the boss, He's in control. So I wish you
might all speak in unknown tongues, But more especially I
want you to prophesy, to be inspired to preach and
interpret the divine will and purpose. He who prophesies, who
(47:50):
is inspired to preach and teach, is greater, more useful,
and more important than he who speaks in an unknown tongue,
unless he should interpret what he says so that the
church may be edified and receive good from it. Therefore,
the person who speaks in an unknown tongue should pray
for the power to interpret, interpret, and explain what he says.
(48:14):
If you want this gift, or you have this gift,
you should be praying to have both. So that word
interpret interpretation in one Corinthian's twelve ten is herminea. It
means to explain what is said, rather than translate. You're
not translating, you're explaining, You're putting it into words. Do
(48:40):
we have an example where translation is in word for word?
Do we have an example where the text coherently and
grammatically correctly tells you in a few words what is
being said? Yep, Psalm twenty three to one, The Lord
is my shepherd, I shall not want some Twenty three
(49:04):
is only four words in Hebrew, but it took eleven
words to translate it into English. So when I say
it's my heavenly language, that's what I'm talking about. I'm
talking about the Holy Spirit speaking either through me to
my heavenly Father or to the Lord, or through me
to somebody else to give them a word, to encourage them,
(49:27):
to give them direction, or to give them comfort. And
if used through me to speak to the enemy, it's
in power. Share a story in the Supernatural Battle about
a young man I got called the church. A youth
pastor started a deliverance on a demon possessed man who
was in way over his head and Shelley called me
(49:50):
to get you butt to church and take over, and
I did. Rather than staying in helping me, this youth
pastor who I won't mention my name, left left the
room and he left me alone with this person who
was completely demonically possessed but got control of it. Figured,
(50:10):
let me get him out of the building because the
youth service is starting. This happened in about thirty minutes.
People are arriving and this guy's shouting and screaming in
a demonic language, threatening to kill me, and I figured,
let me get him outside, get out on the back
end of the property, and he says something about the Lord,
something really foul and blasphemous, and it so offended me.
(50:34):
I just turned and wielded him, pointed my finger and
what flew out of me was this very powerful, heavenly language,
this very powerful burst of tongues that he suddenly and
he told me later on, he said, I felt that
your words hit me in the middle of the chest.
And he flew through the air, landed on his rear
(50:58):
end and he's back to push to get away from me.
He's tearing up his pants while he's doing it. What
was inside of him was doing its best to get
away from what was inside of me. And it was
right after that I called it out. It was broken,
and he got set free and got saved, healed and delivered.
It's a step of faith. It begins as a vision,
(51:20):
as a burden, as a suggestion, but it's always the
Lord choosing and the Spirit imparting. And at that point
of the story, I'm telling you I'd been doing it,
both the casting out of demons and the manifestation of
the gifts. So I was comfortable doing whatever the Holy
Spirit said to do when he said to do it.
And the testimony is that that young man got saved,
(51:43):
and he was notorious around town. Everybody knew him. He
had been a high school football star and become a drunk,
an alcoholic, a criminal, fighting, and he was in jail
all the time, and all that stopped. That's the power
of the Holy Spirit. He gives to one the bower
to perform miracles, to another, maybe you, the ability to prophesy.
(52:08):
He gives the ability to discern whether a message is
from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. And
I pray that you'd all have that, and to another
ability to speak in unknown languages and the another the
ability to interpret what is being said. All of these
gifts have to work together. That way we know what's
(52:28):
coming from the Holy Spirit and what's a Satanic counterfeit
or simply the flesh. I have people tell me all
the time, this is what the Spirit the Lord told me.
I'm much nicer now than I was when I was
a baby Christian. Now, I just well, if that's what
you believe in, the Lord will confirm it. Back when
I was younger, I would simply say, now that was
(52:50):
all of you and hurt people. Even correction and comfort
must come by the Holy Spirit. Can't tear people down
or beat them down. This is the reason I didn't
do last week. We had some work going on here,
finally got all those dangerous trees removed. I did not
(53:11):
want to try to do this or rush this, because
I felt this message was important enough to give it
its time. But there's a scripture in Isaiah from the
prophet Isaiah that I believe refers to this Isaiah twenty
eight Versus eleven and twelve for with stammering lips and
(53:32):
another tongue. The stammering lips in Hebrews gibbersh for with
stammering lips and another tongue, he will speak to this
people day of Pentecost, to whom he said, this is
the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest,
and this is the refreshing. Yet they would not hear
and they still don't want to hear it today. Final
(53:55):
thing on this I want to tell you about, and
you can find the video on YouTube. November of two thousand,
more than six New York Times wrote an article and
this is what the article was about. Researchers at the
University of Pennsylvania took brain images of five women while
they spoke in tongues and found that their frontal lobes,
the thinking, willful part of the brain through which people
(54:17):
control what they do, was relatively quiet, as were the
language centers. The regions involved in maintaining self consciousness were active.
Then women were not in blind transis and it was
unclear which region was driving their behavior. The images presented
(54:39):
of the images of the brain, appearing in the current
issue of the Journal of Psychiatry Research Neuroimaging, pinpoint the
most active areas of the brain. They gave them this
radioactive dye so that they could do this. So the
roots of this practice, this religious practice, the article says
Old Testament, New Testament, Pentecostal churches since the early nineteen hundreds.
(55:01):
These women, they were healthy, active church goists, and doctor
Andrew B. Neuberg, the leader of the study team, said,
the amazing thing was how the images supported people's interpretation
of what was happening. So and contrary to what was
being said that people who spoken tongues suffered from mental problems,
(55:23):
a study of nearly one thousand evangelical Christians in England
found those who engaged in the practice of speaking in
tongues were more emotionally stable than those who did not.
So doctor Andrew Neuberg, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, took these
and his colleagues took these women and studied them and
(55:46):
took images of their brain with the radioactive tracer Freeze.
Froze those images and they began to see what was
happening when Glosslelia was in effect. And you can find
the video on u which shows the actual images. This
had nothing to do with anything natural. In a similar study,
(56:09):
psychologist Michael Persinger of the Lauratian University, Ontario, Canada did
brainwave research on glossielia. Each of doctor Newbergh's results have
specific implications. He said, for example, increased parietal activity, which
would go with the sense of one's self being quote
(56:30):
touched by the spirit. When we look at the gifts
of the spirit is one thing you can't miss the
sovereignty of God. And God is not accountable to us
for what he chooses to do. Isaiah forty thirteen and fourteen,
(56:53):
who has directed the Spirit of the Lord as his
counselor has taught him? With whom did he take counsel
and who instructed him, Who taught him in the path
of justice, who taught him knowledge and showed him the
way of understanding? And the answer is no one. So
this topic tongues and the interpretation of tongues. God's in
(57:16):
complete control and it's happening through the indwelling of the
Holy Spirit. And if you get that, then the words
as He wills takes on a richer meaning. From the
day of Pentecost to now, the Holy Spirit is speaking
(57:36):
to and through his church. Are you willing to let him?
Are you? Are we willing to hear what he has
to say? Or are we going to forbid it. We're
going to shut him down. We're going to tell him
we don't have time for this. I, for one have time,
(58:01):
and I'm willing to stop. I'm willing to listen. I
want to hear what my heavenly Father has to say.
I want to hear what the Lord has to say,
whether it's through his word from his very own mouth. Lord,
thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to do this.
Thank you for the Cross, the empty tomb, the Upper Room.
(58:23):
Thank you for all the things you set in motion
so that we could have this ability to be so
connected with you. We know what you think, we know
what you feel, we know what you're saying. So I
pray right now for all those who have listened over
these last weeks, that you would stir the gifts up
(58:45):
inside of them. I speak to them now, and I
lay hands on them as if I was standing right
there with them. In the name of your Shuhamasiah, Jesus
the Messiah, through the power of his Rua Kakordsha's Holy Spirit,
Eve the gifts of the Spirit, receive the manifestation of
the gifts of the Spirit as he wills for you
(59:08):
to benefit the church, to further the Kingdom of God,
to destroy the works of the enemy, and to make
straight the highway for the King. And I pray all
these things in yr shoe his name. And if you
agree with me and receive what I just said to you,
(59:32):
say amen. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his faith to shine upon you
and be gracious to you. May the Lord, I don't
know your shoe, Ahamoshiak, lift up his countenance upon you
and give you peace. Give you Shallom. I'm Richard Grund.
