Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hello, Welcome to the Porch on Firefall Talk Radio. I'm
Richard grind. This is where you find the uncompromised red
letter basics of the Word of God, where we focus
on the Book of Acts Church to see how they
serve the Lord. In doing so, we find the Church
the Lord intended, not the one Man created. The Porch
(00:41):
is a non denominational, full gospel approach to the Bible
based on the examples from the Book of Acts Church,
which aims to restore the priesthood of the believer or
regaining the world shaking influence that the early Church has.
The Church age isn't over. The Upper Room experience is
as much for today as it was of the day
(01:03):
of Pentecost. It's yours if you want it. We offer
you the Word as the Apostles would have to the
Jewish and Gentile believers of their day, using both the
Yeshua and Jesus. When speaking of the Lord, we use
the term Messiah rather than Christ, as it more accurately
reflects how he was referred to by those who knew him.
(01:25):
And additionally we provide definitions in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic
when necessary. Getting back to basics, isn't just our motto,
it's a mandate from the Lord that we take seriously.

(02:08):
will go out the end of this week. Remember we
care about you. We start out praise and prayer and
the sound of the show far so Father, I praise you,
I praise you for my salvation. I praise you for
your love for me, for giving me back the family
that I discarded. Thank You for my wife, sons, god
(02:30):
in law's, grandchildren, furry kids. Everything I have comes from you,
and I never take that for granted. Thank you, Lord
for what you did for me to have that. Thank
you for the cross, thank you for the empty tomb,
thank you for the upper room. You did all of
that for us so that we could be reconciled to
(02:53):
our heavenly Father and know that we can spend eternity
with him and be home. Thank you for filling that
hole in my heart and giving me an Abba, giving
me a Papa, making me whole, making me complete in
Him through you. Thank you for sending back the Holy
(03:15):
Spirit to walk with us, to teach us, to guide us,
to help us. O, Holy Spirit, thank you for doing that,
for being an encourager, for being there with me good
times and bad, even when I mess up, to get
me back on my feet to beck on the right path.
We pray ahead of protection over us, our homes, lands,
(03:37):
family's pet possessions, over this technology, every everything we have. Lord,
keep it from the enemy, keep it from the evil one.
Don't let there be any interference. We bind the powers
of darkness that we try to keep this word from
going forth. We declare and we decree that in the
name of Your Shohamashiach Jesus the Messiah, they have been
(04:00):
defeated and we are free from their influence. We are
free from all their interference and everything that they would
try to do to keep us from having what you
want us to have. Lord, have your way, do what
you want to do. Holy Spirit, it's yours. I pray
(04:22):
all these things, and you shoe his name. Amen.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
These lessons are proprietary information, except where not of the
information comes from outside sources. Combination of that information. The
manner presented is exclusive, cannot be repeated or used without permis.
The date of this broadcast serves as the registered date
of the following information. All right, get those Bibles open,
get those minds open, hearts open, because obviously the enemy
(05:12):
does not want this message to go forth, because the
attack since I have tried to start this to do
this have been pretty pretty ferocious. So thank you, Thank
you Holy Spirit for being with us. Speaking of which,
that's what we're talking about. We're still talking about permanent pentecost.
(05:33):
I want to read to you a section from a
book called the Holy Spirit by Charles Rrie, written in
nineteen ninety seven.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
An understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit is
basic to Christian living. But one cannot fully comprehend the
work of a person without also knowing something about that person. Likewise,
it is necessary to know something about person of the
Holy Spirit in order to fully appreciate his work. It
(06:06):
may seem dull to the reader to pursue the study
of the Spirit's personality and deity, but who he is
becomes fundamental to what he does, and a knowledge of
both his person and work is basic to Christian devotion
and living. I'm reading it as he wrote it. No
(06:27):
other group among the totality of the people of God
has ever been the beneficiary of so many of the
ministries of the Spirit, as has the Body of Christ,
which began on the day of Pentecost. For example, the
permanent indwelling of every believer by the Holy Spirit was
not experienced before that day. His work of joining believers
(06:51):
to the risen Christ, to the risen Messiah, as I
would say, was impossible before the resurrection of the Messiah
and the descent of the Holy Spirit of Pentecost. His
teaching ministry, his comfort, and his intercession are benefits that
all Christians, all believers, may experience without restriction or limitation. Today.
(07:16):
This is truly the Age of the Spirit, and none
of the people of God have been so greatly privileged
as are the Christians in this age. The Age of
the Spirit and the Church Age are tied together, and
we've been allowed to experience the Holy Spirit without restriction
(07:40):
or limitation today. So why aren't we living that? If
it's there, if it's been allowed, if it's been designed
to be that way, why are we not living it? Out?
Go into all the world to preach the gospels every creature.
He who believes in his baptized will be saved, but
(08:01):
he who does not believe will be condemned. And these
signs will follow those who believe in my name. They
will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues.
They will take up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly,
by no means hurt them. They will lay hands on
the sick, and they will recover. And is written that
(08:22):
the Messiah should suffer and on the third day rise
from among the dead, and that repentance with a view too,
and the condition of forgiveness of sins should be preached
in his name to all nations beginning from Jerusalem. You
are witnesses of these things. And behold, I will send
(08:42):
forth upon you what my father has promised. But remain
in this city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with
power from on high. For John truly baptized with water.
But you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Not
many days from now. You shall receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be
(09:04):
witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in Old Judea, in Samaria,
and to the end of the earth. And he led
them out as far as Bethany, and lifted up his
hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass while
he blessed them, that he was parted from them and
carried up into Heaven. And they worshiped him, and returned
to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple,
(09:29):
praising and blessing God. So what I did there as
I took Mark sixteen fifteen through eighteen, Luke twenty four,
forty six to forty nine, Acts one, verses five and eight,
Luke twenty four, verses fifty through fifty three, and tied
them into one narrative, because that's what the word is.
(09:49):
It is one cohesive narrative. But very specifically Luke twenty
four and X one. They form a cohesive narrative telling
us about his suffering, his resurrection to be witnesses, tell
us about the promise of the Father tiring in Jerusalem,
(10:09):
that power would come from on high, the ascension, the
return to Jerusalem, and meeting in the Temple. And never forget.
They didn't forsake the Temple. They didn't forsake being Jews.
They were now completed Jews, they were Messianic Jews. They
still went to Temple. Samuel Chadwick was a Wesleyan Methodist
(10:31):
minister and theologian from the early nineteen hundreds, late eighteen
hundreds early nineteen hundreds. He wrote influential books such as
The Way to Pentecost and The Call to Christian Perfection.
This is what he said, and he wrote this in
nineteen eleven. By the way, the gift of the Spirit
(10:53):
is the crowning mercy of God in Christ, Jesus, the
incarnation and Crucifixion, the Resurrection and his ascension. We're all
preparatory to Pentecost. Without the gift of the Holy Spirit,
all the rest would be useless. The great thing in
Christianity is the gift of the Spirit. The essential vital
(11:18):
central element in the life of the soul and the
work of the Church is the person of the Holy Spirit.
The essential vital central element in the life of the
soul and the work of the Church is the person
(11:39):
of the Holy Spirit, a person out of the Trinity.
So few people actually know anything about or actually know him.
Don't feel bad if you're one of those people. That's
what this is all about, to get you to know him.
Remember he said, Lord said in John fourteen, verses sixteen
(12:00):
through seventeen, And I will pray the Father, and he
will give you another helper that he may abide with
you forever. I will pray to the Father that prayer
will inspire him to release another helper just like me,
to abide with you, live with you, permanently, forever, the
(12:24):
Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it
neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him,
for he will dwell with you and will be in you.
This was not a one one and gonna go away
kind of thing. This was a forever thing to remain
(12:47):
with us forever, to be with us constantly. So let's
get to know him, Let's get to understand him, let's
develop a relationship with him, because I believe that's what
he wants. I have that, and I know how special
that is. There are three indispensable truths that we must affirm.
(13:14):
He's a person who can be grieved Ephesians four point thirty.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. Do
not offend of ex or sadden him, by whom you
are sealed, marked and branded as God's owned, secured for
the day of redemption, of the final deliverance through Messiah
from evil and the consequence of sin. He can be grieved.
(13:35):
If you ignore him, you could hurt his feelings. If
you don't listen to him, he will respond to it,
and eventually he'll realize you don't want to hear what
he has to say. He's God, he has emotions, he
has the personal attributes of God. They are present in him.
Such as God is truth. Well, he's the Spirit of
(13:58):
truth Seen thirteen. However, when he the Spirit of Truth,
has come, he will guide you into all truth. For
he will not speak on his own authority. But whatever
he hears, he will speak, and he will tell you
things to come. Clearly, the Lord is making a distinction
(14:18):
that the Holy Spirit is a separate person. He will
guide you, he will speak, he will tell you he's
eternal Hebrews nine fourteen. How much more shall the blood
of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without
spot to God. Cleanse your conscience from dead works to
(14:41):
serve the living God. He's omnipresent. Even David knew that
in Psalm one thirty nine, verses seven through ten. Where
can I go from your spirit? Or where can I
flee from your presence? If I ascend into heaven, you
are there. If I make my bed and she all behold,
(15:04):
you are there. If I take the wings of the
morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hands shall lead me, and your right
hand shall hold me. The Holy Spirit is life RUMs
A two for the law of the spirit of life
in Messiah. Yeshuah has made me free from the law
(15:25):
of sin and death. So he has specific functions in
that triunity of God. His word and his works are
considered the word and the works of God. Look at
Ezekiel Chapter two, Verses one and two. Ezekiel says, and
he said to me, son of Man, stand on your feet,
(15:48):
and I will speak to you. Then the spirit entered
me when he spoke to me, and set me on
my feet. And I heard him who spoke to me
acts thirteen to two. As they ministered to the Lord
and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, now separate to me,
Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have
(16:11):
called them. The Spirit was speaking for the Lord, maybe
through one of the members present, maybe they all heard
it at once. There's no clarification there that words separate,
set apart, called to a work. What work was that
the first missionary tour, phase three of the Great Commission
(16:33):
to the end of the earth. And the Spirit blessed them.
Two Timothy three, Verses sixteen through seventeen. Every scripture, as
God breathed, given by His inspiration, profitable for instruction, for
reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and
(16:56):
discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness and holy living,
in conformity to God's will and thought, purpose and action,
so that the Man of God may be complete and proficient,
well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work. Oh
my God, this is it. That's the mission statement. That's
what we're talking about. God breathed from God himself through
(17:21):
the Holy Spirit, inspired to make us complete, fitted and
thoroughly equipped for every good work. Two Peter one versus
twenty and twenty one. Knowing this first that no prophecy
of scriptures, of any private interpretation for prophecy never came
(17:43):
by the will of man, but holy men of God
spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, who
moved them to speak those prophecies. The Holy Spirit. The
ministry of work of the Holy Spirit is not as
visibly prominent as that of the Father and the Son,
because his work is never to call attention to himself.
(18:06):
Never forget that anybody who claims to be under the
unction of the Spirit and is drawing attention to themselves,
that is not the Holy Spirit of God. All attention
goes to the Father and the Son. He will reveal,
he will declare, he will disclose, he will transmit it
(18:28):
to you. Though was in John sixteen, thirteenth and fourteen.
He will speak, tell you things. That's why it was
so vital that the Lord had to depart. It was
to our advantage that he went away, because if he
didn't go away, the help or the Holy Spirit could
(18:51):
not come to us. But because he departed, he sent
him to us. And what happened. The Holy Spirit came,
and he convicted the world of sin and of righteousness
and of judgment, of sin because they did not believe
in him, of righteousness because he went to the Father.
(19:14):
And of judgment because the rule of haciton of this
world is judged. That's what the Spirit did. Lord was saying,
the Holy Spirit will do this in my place from
going back to my Father, and will not be here
to do it. The Lord speaks of him constantly as
(19:35):
a separate entity, as someone who comforts us, who guides us,
convicts and corrects, inspires, empowers and edifies the church. He
will be with you and in you, is what the
(19:57):
Lord said, and you will be immersed in him to
continue his work, soaked in like dying of clothing. He's
not going anywhere. He's a part of you. He's a
part of who you are, so that the Spirit through
us can maintain You're sure of the Lord's presence in
the world. By duplicating and sustaining the Lord's work, you
(20:23):
understand now whether Enemy hates this topic and the gifts
of the Holy spirits so much. It's the presence of
the Lord, just as it was when his feet were
on the ground. The power deliverance healing. In eighteen eighty
(20:46):
a man named George Smeaton, who was a nineteenth century
Scottish theologian and Greek scholar. He wrote this, we may
safely affirm that the doctrine of the Spirit is almost
entirely ignored, and let us add wherever little honor is
done to the Spirit, there was grave cause to suspect
(21:09):
the genuineness of anyone's profession of Christianity. He said that
in eighteen eighty it still applies today. If you mistreat
the Spirit or blaspheme the gifts, I do not believe
(21:32):
that you were born again. In sixteen sixty, Thomas Godwin
wrote this massive work called The Work of the Holy
Spirit in Our Salvation by affirming there is a general
omission in the Saints of God in their not giving
(21:53):
the Holy Spirit, that glory is due to his person
and for his great work of salvation in us, insomuch
that we have in our hearts almost forgotten this third
person eighteen eighty sixteen sixty, I mean, come on, we
(22:14):
have not awakened to the fact that we have missed
out on a third of the person of the Trinity
of our Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It's
no wonder we've been so ineffective in the world. It's
no wonder the enemy has gotten away with so much
during that time. Over and over these writers A. W.
(22:37):
Pink he wrote his in the two thousand and nine.
So we're looking at so many different time and ages
and decades and centuries of teachers and preachers saying, hey, church,
wake up, wake up. There's somebody who wants a relationship
(22:59):
with you. He wants to partner with you in this calling.
This is what AW Pink wrote in his similarly titled
book The Holy Spirit. Oh my readers, face the solemn
fact that the greatest lack in all Christendom today is
the absence of the Holy Spirit's power and blessing. Now,
remember when he wrote this, we had all the you know,
(23:22):
the televangelists and all the people putting on their shows
and waving their coats and knocking people over and doing
all of that. But the truth was people weren't getting saved,
healed and delivered. Truth was, we weren't changing society. The
truth is that was so caught up in the show
we forgot about the basics. We picked back up review
(23:46):
the activities of the past thirty years, millions of dollars
have been freely devoted to the support of professed Christian enterprises.
Bible institutes and schools have turned out quote trained workers
by the thousands. Bible conferences have sprung up on every
side like mushrooms. Countless booklets and tracks have been printed
(24:09):
and circulated. Time and labor has been given by almost
an incalculable number of personal workers. And with what results?
Has the standard of personal piety advanced? Are the churches
less worldly? Are their members more christ Like in their
daily walk? Is there more godliness in the home? Are
(24:34):
the children more obedient and respectful? Is the Sabbath day
being increasingly sanctified and kept holy? Has the standard of
honesty and business been raised? The number of professing Christians
has increased, but spiritual power has waned. Why because there
(24:56):
is a grieved and quenched spirit in our mists. While
His blessing is withheld, there can be no improvement. What
is needed for today is for the saints to get
down on their faces before God, cry unto him in
the name of Christ, to work against so that what
has grieved his spirit may be put away and the
(25:20):
channel of blessing once more be opened. He goes on
to say, and I hope I can do it, because
I feel every bit of this. Until the Holy Spirit
is again given his rightful place in our hearts, thoughts,
and activities, there can be no improvement until it is
recognized that we are entirely dependent upon His operations for
(25:44):
his spiritual blessings. The root of the trouble cannot be
reached until it be recognized that it is not by
might of trained workers, nor by power of intellectual argument
or persuasive appeal, but by my Spirit, says the Lord
needs quoting Zachariah for six. There'll be no deliverance from
that fleshly zeal which is not according to knowledge, which
(26:07):
is now paralyzing Christendom. Until the Holy Spirit is honored, sought,
and counted upon. The present spiritual drought must continue. You know,
I know there are a lot of people out there
talking about this end time harvest and the end time
move of the Spirit and the end time wave of
(26:27):
the Spirit. And I challenge you to show me in
scripture from what the Lord said about the end times
and what Paul and the rest said about the end times,
that it says that no, what I see is the
time with those things wane, Godliness wanes, righteousness fades, evil increases,
sin increases. Why because of what I just read, If
(26:50):
you really want this in your life, if you really
want to see a change in your life and the
lives of those around you, then maybe if you can,
if you can't, get down on your face, put your
head down on a bed or a desk or whatever,
and get before him. Say, Lord, burn out of me
(27:14):
anything that's not of you, Burnt off of me, anything
I've allowed the enemy to attach to me. Fill me
with your spirit, Set me free, Touch my lips, touch
my hands, touch my feet. I indeed baptize you with
water because of repentance, because of your changing your minds
for the better, heartily amending your ways in abhorrence from
(27:36):
your pastes. Matthew three to eleven. I amplified John the Baptist,
saying this, But he capital h was coming after me,
is mightier than I, who sandals I am not worthy
or fit to take off or carrie. He will baptize
you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. That's your prayer. Lord,
baptize me with the Holy Spirit and with fire, and
(28:00):
from the Father the promise, Now clothe me with power
from on high, just like you did the church in
Jerusalem that day. We want what you said, Lord, to
receive power, the ability, the efficiency, and the might to
do what you've called us to do with your Holy
Spirit upon us and in us, so that we can
be witnesses where we are and to the end of
(28:23):
the earth. When this spirit came, as he said to
his followers, you will receive power and to do what
to put on a show, to amaze people, to draw
attention to yourself, to sell books, have conferences. No, to
be my witnesses, says the Lord. We're to be his witnesses. Now.
(28:49):
I thought about that today. I don't know why it
suddenly came up. I thought about the period of time
from I don't know it was twenty ten. I don't
even know how many years it was. I don't have
to go back in look two or three years. I
got caught up in that crowd, the conferences, the seminars,
going here, going there, sharing the revelation, doing all that.
(29:13):
But when I started to have altered calls I'm naked
about getting people saved, healt and delivered. I became unpopular
with those that did the invitations, and I realized After that,
I came to my senses and said, if I'm not
getting people saved, healt and delivered, if I'm not living
out the Great Commission, if I'm not doing this what
(29:35):
I'm reading to you here today, it's a waste of
my time. That's the Great commission. Not to open up
people's minds to all these different nephelum and giants and
demons and fallen angels and all those things while they
fill in blanks there. Not to be the focus of
our attention. These these pastors and preachers that focus on prophets. Oh,
(30:00):
this is what's happening in Israel, and this is what
Trump said here, and this is what that means there.
That's all well and good. But if that's not inspiring
me off to get off my spiritual but to go
out and tell people about the Lord. What's the point?
He said, you will be my witness, says you know
what it means to be a witness means you may
be a martyr. Home and Bible Dictionary compares the word
(30:24):
witness and martyr together. It's the testimony of a person
or something which bears testimony to a person or an event.
One of the Hebrew words for witness ed ed refers
to the legal elements of witness. One rendered testimony based
on observation which was true and faithful. The legal concept
(30:48):
of witness found in the Old Testament continued in the
New Testament. This aspect of witness, as well as new ones,
is covered by only one Greek word mail. It's the
concept of personal involvement in the witness, which then informs
(31:09):
or describes what you've seen and heard. That's why he
challenged believers to be his witness throughout the world. You
shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,
and you shall be witnesses to me, witnesses about me,
(31:30):
witnesses for me in Jerusalem an al Judea, Samaria, and
to the end of the earth. In every part of
your life, you're going to be a witness. Everything you
say and do, you're gonna make people think about me.
Whether you smile, whether you hug, whether you talk, whether
you laugh. Wherever you go, you're gonna make people think
about me. And if they don't know me, you're gonna
(31:51):
make them want to know me. This high commitment to
witness the tents testify was exemplified by Messiah and guess what.
It resulted in his persecution in depth, and likewise his
followers would suffer persecution for the witness. He told him
(32:12):
that John fifteen twenty, Remember the word that I said
to you, a servant is not greater than his master.
If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If
they kept my word, they will keep yours. Also. Early
in Act seven, we're going to see that Stephen became
the first martyr, the first and foremost witness, giving a testimony,
(32:37):
And ironically it was his own testimony, his eyewitness account,
that caused him to be put to death. Remember, this
world is under the sway, it's under the control of
the fallen, under the control of Satan. So don't be
surprised when they hate you. Don't be surprised when they
(32:59):
don't want you to talk about these things or do
these things tell the world. Telling the world about him
takes on a new meaning when you understand that when
the helper comes, whom I shall send to you from
the Father Spirit of truth who proceeds, which means emanates
(33:22):
from the Father, he will testify of me. Oh wow,
Holy Spirit's a witness too, He's testified of him. And
you will also bear witness because you've been with me
from the beginning. Now, if I use in verse logic,
he's indicating to them, the Spirit has been with me
since the beginning. He saying to them, you can't do
(33:44):
this alone, so I'm doing it with you, it says
in Mark sixteen twenty. And they went out preached everywhere,
the Lord working with them and confirming the word through
the accompanying signs. The Lord kept working with them, confirming
the message by the signs and miracles that were seen.
(34:09):
As the disciples spoke, the Holy Spirit would bring conviction
to the unbelievers concerning the Lord. That's what we should
be doing. The Holy Spirit's in us. We need to
do that. Peter did that, this new spiritful change Peter
on the day of Pentecost, Acts two, starting verse thirty six.
(34:34):
We did this last week, but I'm going to pick
it up again because it ties to It shows you
what the Spirit began to do inside the believers from
the minute they got it. Therefore, let all the House
of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Yeshua,
whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah. Now, when they
being the men listening heard this. They were cut to
(34:55):
the heart and said to Peter and the rest of
the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do. Peter
didn't sugarcote it. He said, repent. Let every one of
you be baptized in the name of Jesus the Messiah
ya sure Almasheah for the remission of sins, and you
(35:17):
shall receive the gift of the Spirit. For the promises
to you and to your children, and to all who
are a far off. As many as the Lord our
God will call, repent, change your views, accept the will
of God in your life instead of rejecting it. Be baptized,
make a public declaration that this is what you believe,
(35:40):
and do it in the name of Jesus the Messiah.
To be forgiven and released from your sins, and receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. Because this promise from
Isaiah and from Joel is to you and to your children,
and to all who are far away, even as many
(36:02):
as the Lord our God invites and bids to come
to himself the prophecy of Joel two thirty two. And
it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the
name of the Lord shall be saved. Where's that message today? All?
You can't say that you're going to offend somebody. I
guess why, folks, We're in a tough place right now.
(36:25):
I gave a word of prophecy. I shared it on Facebook.
I don't know if I shared it here or not.
This was the word of the Lord to me as
I was praying Saturday, June fourteenth. War is coming, World
(36:47):
war is coming, civil war is coming. Religious war is coming.
There's an explosion of religious fervor for a savior that
they've created in their own image. They will say it's me,
but it won't be. I am not in their worship,
(37:08):
nor am I in their hearts. A time of intense
sorrow has begun, and only those who know me personally
and intimately will be able to endure. Prepare accordingly, pray accordingly,
position yourself accordingly now and then, I posted Matthew twenty four,
(37:32):
verses three through eight. Take heed that no one deceives you,
for many will come in my name saying I am
the Messiah, and will deceive many. And you will hear
of wars and rumors of war. See that you are
not troubled, for all these things must come to pass.
But the end is not yet, for nation will rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences,
(37:56):
and earthquakes in various places, all these of the beginning
of the sorrows. That's where we are right now. We're
watching persecution of Christian and Jews. I said it before,
and I will say it again that at the end,
the same persecution the Jews experienced early in their creation
(38:20):
and that Christians, the believers in Yeshua, experienced in the
beginning of the Church, will both be done at the
same time here at the end, and it's happening. So
what happened when Peter did this? Filled with the power
of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit on his voice in
him projecting outward. So Peter solemnly witnessed, He testified, admonished,
(38:46):
and exhorted, much more continuous speaking, and warned them, saying,
be saved from this crooked, perverse, wicked, unjust generation. Therefore,
those who accepted and welcomed his message, we're about tithed.
And then we're added that day three thousand souls, and
they steadfastly preserved, devoting themselves constantly to the instruction and
(39:10):
fellowship of the apostles to the breaking of bread, including
Lord's Supper and prayers, and a sense of awe reverential
fear came upon every soul. Many wonders and signs would
perform through the apostles, and all of that was empowered
by the presence and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
(39:35):
You shall receive power, dunamous self replicating, ongoing, never ending power.
If SHO have promised, we would receive power to be
witnesses and notice the progression. They got the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit gave them power, and they became witnesses
(39:56):
with extraordinary results. Three thousand here, five thousand exploded. There
were only one hundred and twenty in that upper room.
Power from the Holy Spirit. Strength beyond the ordinary courage.
Stephen had courage to do what he did because he
knew he was gonna die. Boldness, confidence, ability, insight, authority.
(40:23):
We're gonna be talking about all those things as we
move further into the Book of Acts, and the disciples
and the Church would need all of these gifts to
fulfill the mission before the Lord snatches the church out
of here. See witnessing. I know it's difficult, but all
(40:44):
it is is sharing what God has done for you.
It's really not about you. It's all about Him, what
has He done for you. Maybe it's not as dramatic
and colorful as mind. Your testimony is your testimony because
(41:05):
the Holy Spirit affects individual salvation through the new birth.
It's Him coming into a people, changing us, giving us
the divine stamp of approval of this new work under
(41:27):
His authority. That's all it is. We've made it so complicated.
We've created pamphlets and cards, and follow these steps. Just
talk from your heart and listen to the spirit. Let
him tell you what to say when you're dealing with
(41:47):
the person you're dealing with in front of you. Every
message is different, every witness is different. Some people may
not relate to my deliverance from the occult, but they
do relate to being healed of the abantonment of a father,
or the restoration of a marriage and the return of
a family. Whatever your testimony is is your testimony. It's
(42:10):
your power against the enemy to destroy their works and
set people free. Ephesians one, Paul says, starting verse eleven,
in him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things
(42:31):
according to the counsel of his will, that we who
first trusted in Messiah should be to the praise of
His glory. In him, you also trusted after you heard
the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation, in
whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy
Spirit of Promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance
(42:54):
until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise
of His glory. You know the King of Kings and
the Lord of Lords. You're the child of the King.
The God of all creation knows you by name. Charles
(43:20):
Ryley goes on in his book The Holy Spirit to say,
the solution to the problems of the Church today lies
in solving the problems of individual Christians believers. I'll call them.
And the remedy is a person, the Holy Spirit. He
is the antidote for every error, the power for every weakness,
(43:45):
the victory for every defeat, the supply for every need,
and the answer for every question. And he is available
to every believer, for he believes in each, for he lives.
Let me back up. And he is available to every believer,
(44:07):
for he lives in each believer's heart and life. The
answers and the power have already been given to us
in the person of the Spirit who lives in each
of us, spiritual power. Everybody wants power. Everybody wants to
(44:28):
be able to draw attention to themselves, and it sickens
me when I see people doing that, because He can
use whoever he wants. He used the donkey to stop
the madness of a prophet, so I'm no more special
than anyone else when he uses me. Everybody has access
to that power. That spiritual power comes from the Holy
(44:51):
Spirit within us, and there's nothing new that can be
added to what God has already provided in the indwelling,
ever present person of the Holy Spirit. Now what happened
after Peter did what he did? Stepped out in faith,
no experience. In doing what he did, He'd never preached before,
never given a sermon, never witnessed like that before Acts
(45:15):
two forty three. And then fear came upon every soul,
and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
Now all who believed were together, and how had all
things in common? Sold their possessions and good divided them
among all as anyone had need, So, continuing daily with
one accord in the temple, breaking bread from house to house,
(45:38):
they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
praising God and having favor with all people. And the
Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
The Lord kept adding to their number daily, those who
were getting born again, those who were getting saved, those
(46:00):
who were getting baptized. The Lord did it. He was
working with them through the signs and wonders. So who
did that? Who added to the church, the Lord, not them?
Did he get easier, No, it got much harder, because
Satan suddenly realized what he was up against. So the
persecution got ratcheted up. Peter and John got arrested for
(46:23):
healing the man at the gate, Beautiful kept overnight, got
let go and asked four thirty verse twenty three, we
see him being let go. They went to their own
companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders
had said to them. So when they heard that, they
raised their voice to God with one accord, same thing,
(46:47):
like the upper Room. They were there in agreement, their
voice a collective voice. They were praying, Lord, you are
God who made heaven and earth, and the sea, and
all that is in them, who, by the mouth of
your servant David, have said, why did the nation's rage
and the people plot vain things? The kings of the
earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together
(47:10):
against the Lord and against his Messiah, foreshadowing of the
end when the Lord reappears for truly, against your holy servant,
You Shua, whom you anointed both herod and punctuous pilot
with the gentiles and the people of Israel were gathered
together to do whatever your hand and your purpose determined
(47:33):
before to be done. Now, Lord, look on their threats
and grant to your servant servants plural, that with all
boldness they may speak your word by stretching out your
hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be
done through the name of your holy servant You sure.
And when they prayed, remember the spirit emanates from the Father.
(47:57):
They are petitioning the Father. And where they were assembled
together was shaken, and they were all filled with the
Holy spirit could have set again, and they spoke the
word of God with boldness. Now the multitude of those
who believed were of one heart and one soul. Neither
did anyone say that any of the things he possessed
(48:20):
was his own. But they had all things in common,
and with great power. The apostles gave witness to the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon
them all. Nor was there anyone among them who lacked.
For all who were possesses of land or houses sold
them and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
(48:42):
and laid them at the apostles feet, and distributed to
each one as had need. This was the development of
the inner life of the church, ernest united prayer in
times of crisis, generous sharing of possessions, courage during persecution,
(49:05):
and boldness. And their witness basically was a creation of
a family unit that cares about one another. Because the
world was going to reject them, the world was going
to shut them out the world and the enemy was
going to isolate them. You better care about each other.
Those days are coming, folks, and they're right upon us.
(49:30):
One John three point seventeen. Whoever has this world's goods,
the adequate resources of the world, and sees his brother
in need and has no compassion for him, how does
the love of God live in him. They see this love.
This compassion is what fuels the Church. It comes from
the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has feelings, he brings
(49:51):
the compassion, He brings the mercy that are rooted in
the nature of God. Remember Matthew nine thirty six. You
ssue us all the multitudes and what happened. He was
moved with compassion for them, for they were weary and scattered,
like sheep having no shepherd. Look at every miracle the
Lord performed, and he was moved to compassion. Compassion fueled
(50:12):
what he did. We cannot do this without the Holy
Spirit working through us. We can't comfort one another. We
can't encourage one another. We can't do anything that the
Lord did and that the disciples did. We can't be
(50:32):
an example of the Book of Acts Church unless we
learn how to care about one another. Tewod Corinthians one
three and four. Blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord, Jesus the Messiah, the Father of mercies, and
God of all comfort, who comforts us in our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort others, comfort those
(50:56):
who are in any trumpet trouble. With the comfort effort
with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Peter picking
up Paul's thought one Peter one three and five three
through five. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord,
Jesus the Messiah, who, according to his abundant mercy, has
(51:17):
begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Yashiahamashiah, Jesus the Messiah, from the dead, to an
inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away, reserved
in Heaven for you who are kept by the power
of God through faith, for salvation ready to be revealed
(51:41):
in the last time you see it? Do you see it?
The Holy Spirit is working with the Church to spread
the Gospel, to expand the Church, to build the Kingdom
of God on earth, permanent Pentecost. It hasn't ended, The
(52:06):
fire still falls, The Spirit still moves. Is a perpetual passion,
power and purpose. It's what drives us. At least it
drives me. It fuels me that when I get distracted,
or the world slips in, or the cares of this
world beat me down, or I mess up, that that
(52:28):
conviction and comforting presence of the Holy Spirit can bring
me back to where I need to be. I don't
know where everybody is that's listening, not just geographically, talking
about spiritually. I don't know where you are with the
Holy Spirit in your life. First i'd have to ask
(52:50):
where are you with the Father and the Son, because
if you don't have that, you're not going to have
the Holy Spirit. But I will tell you this, if
you have developed a relationship with the fire and a
relationship with the Sun, the Spirit comes with it. It's
a package deal. But you have to understand that he's there.
(53:10):
Don't grieve him, don't ignore him. Do I acknowledge him? Absolutely?
I do. When I get up in the morning and
I go outside with the dogs in the dark. I've
said this so many times since I wrote it in
that book of mine over a decade ago. That's when
it started. Brokata at han him of that cowlam. Blessed you, Lord, God,
(53:38):
King of the universe. Good morning, Father, Good morning Lord,
good morning, Holy Spirit. Help me help me to get
through this day. Keep me covered and protected in this
fallen world. He needs to be healed, Provide what needs
to be provided, and be with me today. That's my prayer.
(54:04):
Doesn't have to be your prayer. Can you can borrow it,
you can adapt it. But my point being is when
my eyes open, I think about them, Father's Son, Holy Spirit,
I think about it. When I go to bed at night,
I think about them. I talk to them. Pray, protect
me and my family, my home, pats, possessions, watch over us.
If there's healing needed, call for healing. Make it in
(54:33):
every moment part of your life. Make it perpetual passion,
with power and purpose. Father, Thank you for helping me
get through this. Thank you for keeping the enemy at bay.
(54:57):
Thank you for everything you've done for you love, your
undying love, for loving us when we were and are unlovable,
for cleaning us off when this stirl this world gets
us dirty, smudged. I pray right now for myself and
(55:20):
my brothers and sisters, Holy Spirit, that you would cleanse
us inside out, Burn us, clean, heal us, deliver us,
fill us. Let us do what we've been called to do.
Let us tell others about Jesus, about your Shiah. Let
(55:42):
us live a life that reminds them of him. Let
us not be selfish, self centered, deceitful. Lord. We need you,
We need you, We need you. Bestow yourself upon us. Lord,
(56:07):
let us hear your voice, let us feel your touch.
And I pray all these things and your shoeless name. Amen.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the
Lord make his face to shine upon you, be gracious
(56:28):
to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon
you and give you peace. Give you shallow. I'm Richard Gunn.
