Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hello, Welcome to the Portra on Firefall Talk Radio. I'm
Richard Grund. This is where we get back to basics,
the red letter basics of the Word of God, where
we find the church Lord intended, not the one that
Man created. See, we focus on the Book of Acts
Church because what they did is what we want to
(00:44):
do in this day and age. The Portra is a
non denominational, full Gospel approach to the Bible. It's based
on the examples from the Book of Acts Church, and
it aims to restore the priesthood of the believer while
regaining the world shaking influence that the early Church had.
(01:06):
We believe the Church age isn't over, that the Upper
Room experience is as much for today as it was
on the day of Pentecost. It's yours if you want it.
We offer you the Word as the Apostles would have
to the Jewish and gentile believers of their day. We
use both the Yeshuah and Jesus when speaking of the Lord.
(01:27):
We prefer the term Messiah rather than Christ, as it
more accurately reflects how he was referred to by those
who knew him. Additionally, we provide definitions in Hebrew, Greek,
and Aramaic when necessary. Getting back to basics isn't just
our motto, it's a mandate from the Lord. Links to

(02:32):
Remember we care about you. People want to pray for you.
Pray for continued healing and recovery. It's happening. God is
good all the time, and so we are being healed
and heart, mind, body, soul and spirit. But continue to
pray where those prayers are needed. Pray for our persecuted
brothers and sisters around the world. More than ever they
(02:55):
are being slaughtered and martyred for their faith, and we
must stand in the gap and stand and unity with them.
And please pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because for
me that means the return of the Prince of Peace,
and scripture tells me to do it, and I will. Father.
We come to you in the name above all names,
(03:15):
the name of your son, Yasure Amasiah, Jesus the Messiah,
your only begotten Son. We come to you as your children,
your sons, and your daughters. We boldly approach the throne
of grace and mercy, arms outstretched, saying Abbah, Papa, Daddy,
(03:38):
we thank you. We thank you for sending your shoe
to pay our debts so that we could be restored
to that kind of relationship with you. Thank you for
loving us when we were unlovable. Thank you, Lord for
all that you've done, the Cross, the empty tomb, the
upper Room, the pain, the name, all that man did
(04:01):
to you and that you allowed to have happen. Without that,
we have nothing. We are nothing without you. By your stripes,
we are healed by the blood, by the cross, by
the empty tomb, we are filled. Thank you for sending
(04:21):
back the Holy Spirit, the rua Kakkodesh, to walk with us,
to teach us, to guide us, to help us understand,
to empower us, so that we can do what you
need done in this hour. So, Holy Spirit, we give
up control. We just give up control to you. Everything
(04:42):
we have, our homes, our families, our pets, our possessions
are under your care, and our lives are yours, so
that we can serve you. Bless this time, bless this technology,
and let your spirit flow. And I pray all these
things show His name. Amen.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
A psalm of thanksgiving. Make a joyful noise to the Lord.
Are you lands? Serve the Lord with gladness, Come before
his presence with singing. Know that the Lord he is God.
It is he who made us, not we ourselves. We
are his people in the sheep of his pasture. Enter
(06:04):
into his gates with thanksgiving, and enter his courts with praise.
Be thankful to him and bless his name, for the
Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting, and his truth
endures to all generations. That's Psalm one hundred and one
through five. So get your bibles open. Let's get ready
(06:27):
to talk about Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for today?
Right now here now, not tomorrow. You can do that tomorrow.
What are you thankful for right now? Remember that, never
forget it. Andrew Murray said, let us thank God heartily
as often as we pray, that we have His spirit
(06:48):
in us. To teach us to pray thanksgiving will draw
our hearts out to God and keep us engaged with him.
It will take our attention away from ourselves and give
the spirit room in our hearts. He's not talking about
the day of Thanksgiving. He's talking about the concept of thanksgiving,
(07:09):
and that's what Psalm one hundred one through five is
all about. Everyone is exhorted to praise God. Shout joyfully
to the land all the earth, not quietly, shout joyfully,
serve the Lord with gladness and delight. Come before his
(07:29):
presence with joyful singing, Know and fully recognize with gratitude
that the Lord himself is God. It is he who
made us not we ourselves, and we are his. We
are his people, and the sheep of his pasture enter
(07:52):
his gates with the song of thanksgiving and his courts
with praise. Be thankful to him, bless and praise his name. Why,
for the Lord is good, His mercy and loving kindness
are everlasting. His faithfulness endures to all generations. Now, I
(08:14):
know we've been talking about spiritual warfare, but I had
a sense that we need to talk about Thanksgiving, not
just because Tomorrow's Thanksgiving and it does tie together, so
there is a timing there, But there's a power in thanksgiving,
and we are talking about authority. We are talking about
being in a fallen world under the control of the
(08:37):
enemy and living our lives to the fullness. See, Thanksgiving
is a powerful practice that can transform our hearts and minds.
It helps us to cultivate gratitude even in difficult times.
It is a spiritual discipline that holds a signalificant place
(09:01):
within the faith of a believer, within the faith in Yeshuah.
It's a profound expression of our gratitude towards our a Father,
towards God. Oh, it's not just a polite response to
blessings received, but a powerful, dynamic act of worship that
(09:24):
aligns the believer's heart with God's will and purposes. Try it.
Begin to praise him, begin to thank him, thank him
for all that he's done, Thank him for all that
he's doing, Thank him for all that he's going to do.
And you feel it. Your inner manner warm, and your
(09:44):
spirit begins to grow. It begins to magnify. As you're
magnifying him, you're edifying yourself internally. So be thankful for
God's faithfulness. When we do that, it inspires dynamic praise,
which includes singing and gladness and worship. Like I said,
(10:07):
that was a psalm of thanksgiving. Shout joyfully to all
the earth and the New King. James study Bible. It
says the Hebrew verb for make a joyful shout is
a highly charged command for public praise. The command is
addressed not just to Israel, but to all the earth.
(10:28):
The Israelites were to be a people who would attract
the nations to worship God, and to do it with gladness,
joyful abandon It's not only the mood of the worship
in ancient Israel. They had other moods. But the greatest
emphasis was placed on joyful abandon And now you see
(10:50):
why Israel's hated so much. It draws people to its
thinking about God. It draws people to thinking about Jerusalem.
It draws people to thinking about the Temple Mount. It
draws people to thinking about your show and everything that
has happened there historically. And they want to wipe that out.
(11:11):
They want to say, oh no, no, don't think about that,
don't talk about that. Can't stop me, won't stop. The
Lord is good. That's the shout of the goodness of God,
and it's reinforced by a declaration about his mercy and
(11:31):
his truth, which is what for ever, it's ever lasting.
The Hebrew word for truth comes from the root, meaning
to be established or to be confirmed. It's where we
get the word amen. Surely truly see, God's goodness is
(11:52):
based on his steadfast love and his abiding truth. It's
his nature. So for us, being thankful should be a
way of life, personally and corporately. Psalm ninety five, starting
verse one, Come let us sing to the Lord. Let
(12:14):
us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let
us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing Psalms
of praise to him. For the Lord is a great
God and a great king above all gods. First, let
me stop there for a second. That's a declaration. That's
a in your faith, Satan. That's in your face, fallen,
(12:36):
that's in your face, demonic offspring, kingdom of darkness. For
the Lord is a great God, a great king, capital
k above all gods, small g He holds in his
hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains.
(12:57):
The sea belongs to him, for he made it his
hands formed the dry land too. Come, let us worship
and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord, our maker,
for he is our God. We are the people he
watches over the flock under his care. If only you
(13:17):
would listen to his voice today. See, that's what happens
when we praise him. That's what happens when we draw
people's attention to him. They are challenged to whether they're
going to listen to his voice. The Vines Expository notes
as thanksgiving is equivalent to praise and worship offering to
(13:38):
the Lord in response to his provision for us. The
Law stipulated certain sacrifices of thanksgiving in Leviticus seven and
twenty two as they dedicated the Wall of Jerusalem, the
people offered verbal praise and thanksgiving with not one, but
(13:59):
two large thanksgiving choirs Neemiah twelve twenty seven. For the
dedication of the new Wall of Jerusalem, the Levites throughout
the land were asked to come to Jerusalem to assist
in the ceremonies. They were to take part in the
joyous occasion with their songs of thanksgiving and with the
(14:22):
music of symbols and harps and liars making noise while
considering some of our singing and we probably need to
dround it out with a noise, but we make a
joyful noise symbols and harps and liars and just making
a sound and drawing attention to Him, not to us.
(14:43):
And the vibrational nature of that, coming from our heart,
coming from what we're doing, coming from what we're saying,
coming from what we're playing, changes the atmosphere and interferes
with what the enemy is doing. And the people of
the Lord that's us may actually I'm into his presence,
and when we do that, we bring him worship that
(15:04):
pleases him. So being thankful is a command for a
public expression of praise some one of six Verse one,
What is say praise the Lord. Oh give thanks to
the Lord, for he is good. His mercy and loving
kindness endure forever. Oh give thanks to the Lord. What
(15:30):
are you thankful for right now? Just stop for a second,
Just think as I'm speaking, what are you thankful for?
I'm thankful for my wife. I'm thankful for my home.
I'm thankful for our furry kids, even when they frustrate me.
That's what furry kids do, just like real kids, but
you love them anyway. I'm thankful for the roof over
my head. I'm thankful for the technology here to be
(15:53):
with you. I'm thankful for the heart that beats, and
the eyes that see, and the ears that here. Or
maybe they don't do like they used to, but I'm
thankful for them because I still have them. And I
know that any moment he can do whatever he wants,
he can put him back to their divine design. He
can restore the doo of my youth. So I'm thankful
(16:14):
for that hope and that faith. John Bunyan says, a
sensible thanksgiving for mercies received is a mighty prayer in
the spirit of God. It prevails with him unspeakably. I
think it moves him. And I'm not here to manipulate him.
That's not what I'm talking about. But I'm appealing and
(16:35):
i want to move him with my love and my praise.
It's something that we were founded on, not just as
a people, but as a nation. Now tomorrow was celebrating
Thanksgiving in America and the colonists that came here when
they settled in New England, they weren't aiming for New England.
They were aiming for Manhattan Harbor, where the Dutch were
(16:59):
already settled. Then they got blown off course. They observed
Thanksgiving as a day of prayer for the blessings of
a safe journey and military victories and abundant harvests. Elder
William Brewster, who was the minister, said a prayer. Nobody
knows how it went, but some think that it went
(17:21):
like this. We thank God for our homes and our
food and our safety in a new land. We thanked
God for the opportunity to create a new world for
freedom in justice. Well, according to Linus and Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving,
that's what he might have said, and I don't doubt him.
The American modeled their holiday on the sixteen to twenty
(17:43):
one harvest feast that was shared between the Wampanog people
of the Algonquins speaking Native Americans from Rhode Island and Massachusetts,
and the American settlers that became known as the Pilgrims.
George Washington proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving in seventeen ninety five,
(18:03):
following the defeat of the Whiskey Rebellion. Here's what he said,
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge
the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to
be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his
protection and favor. And whereas both Houses of Congress have
(18:27):
by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the
people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving
and prayer to be observed by acknowledging, with grateful hearts
the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording
them an opportunity peaceably to establish a new form of
(18:50):
government for their safety and happiness. Chief only we had
that many politicians in agreement on that topic. After Washington
left office, John Adams, James Madison, and others immediately declared
days of Thanksgiving. Several presidents, just as a historical fact,
(19:12):
were opposed to it, like Thomas Jefferson. He openly denounced
just such a proclamation. Apparently he was against supporting state
sponsored religion, but I don't think that's what that was.
But his aversion to mixing church and state made him
the anti Thanksgiving president. But by eighteen fifty five, sixteen
(19:38):
states celebrated Thanksgiving. Fourteen celebrated on the fourth Thursday of
November and two on the third. But it wasn't until
October third, eighteen sixty three, at the height of the
Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation.
Let me read an excerpt from it. It has seemed
(20:02):
to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently,
and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart, one voice, by
the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow
citizens in every part of the United States, and also
those who are at sea and those who are sojourneying
(20:22):
in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last
Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and prayer.
To our beneficent Father, who dwelleth in the heavens, I
recommend to them that, while offering up the inscriptions justly
due to him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they
(20:46):
do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience,
commend his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans,
and mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in
which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition
(21:09):
of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the
nation and to restore it as soon as may be
consistent with the Divine purposes, so as to the full
enjoyment peace, harmony, tranquility, and union. A day of thanksgiving
and prayer to our beneficent Father, who dwelleth in the heavens.
(21:34):
Pretty clear who he's talking about, and Thanksgiving has been
celebrated in the United States ever since. Now for those
of us who believe we don't need a governmental proclamation,
every day is Thanksgiving Day. Billy Graham said, a spirit
(21:55):
of thankfulness is one of the most distinctive marks of
a Christian whose heart is attuned to the Lord. Thank
God in the midst of trials and every persecution. Thank
God in the midst of trials and every persecution. That's
(22:17):
where our heart should be tuned. We shouldn't need proclamations.
We shouldn't need anybody to tell us to do it. Now,
Lincoln did that at a point where America was being
torn apart. Well, maybe we need that prayer again. Thankfulness
(22:38):
is a big deal in the Bible. In fact, it's
one of the few specific things that we are told
is God's will for us. I don't know why this
would be so difficult. Why is this so difficult for
the church to understand? The lex and Bible Dictionary says
(23:03):
thanksgiving is the act of offering thanks or being thankful,
especially to God. Giving thanks thanksgiving. That's where it comes from.
Pretty obvious, right, often connected to provision, deliverance, or God's character,
and commonly associated in scripture with meals and worship. But
(23:25):
it's not just for the Church. The Jewish prayers of
thanksgiving were throughout their writings. According to the mission of
the standard prayer for food begins Paru katah I don't
i elhino malek aolam blessed you Lord O God, King
of the universe. Those praying then acknowledge God's sovereignty over
their specific item being blessed, whether it's fruit or wine,
(23:48):
or vegetables or bread. There are two main words in
the Tanakh that encompassed the idea of thanksgiving. Holdeu is
the command give thanks. But there's also a specific word
meaning thanksgiving, and that word is to da to o
d a h. It's the sacrifice a praise. It's how
(24:11):
thankful you are. Psalm twenty six, verses six and seven.
I will wash my hands in innocence, and I will
go to your altar. I don't I that I may
proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, a voice of torda,
and declare all your wonders. That I may proclaim with
(24:37):
a voice of thanksgiving and declare all your wonders. I
am so thankful for the prayers that have gone up
for me before I got saved and after. I am
so thankful for the people that the Lord brought into
my life to walk with me, to help me, to learn,
to guide me, to bear with me in my foolishness
(24:58):
and my mistakes. Aw Tossa's gratitude is an offering precious
in the sight of God. And it is a one
that the poor of us can make and not be poorer,
but richer for having made it. Anyone can do it,
(25:20):
And I am challenging you. Here we are in November
twenty six, twenty twenty five. I am challenging you that
for every day until the end of the year and
maybe beyond. But I'm going to give you a specific
time frame. If you have to write it on your calendar,
if you have to write it on something to remind you.
(25:41):
Start your day in prayer, praise and thanksgiving. End your
day in prayer, praise and thanksgiving. In Temple times, they
would bring their corban to doather thanksgiving offering to show
their appreciation to God for having saved them amount of danger,
for having taken care of them. Well, you can do
(26:03):
your offering every day in the New Testament thanksgiving the
Eukaristia thankfulness or giving thanks interesting that that's the Greek
word Philippians four six. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything,
by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. Let your request be
(26:26):
made known to God. But by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
Thank you Lord for all that you've done. Thank you,
Lord for all that you're doing. Thank you Lord for
all that you're going to do, starting with my salvation.
You see, when we do that, it is a heartfelt
(26:49):
response to the redemptive work of the Messiah of Yashua.
Don't take it for granted. That's why I talk about
the That's why I talk about the scourging. That's why
I talk about the blood. That's why I talk about
the horror. I never want you to take for granted
what he did for you, nor should we ever. What
(27:14):
he had to endure so that we could be set
free to be reconciled to our heavenly Father is horrific.
Psalm seven twenty five. I thank God through Jesus the Messiah,
our Lord. I thank God through Jesus the Messiah, our Lord.
(27:34):
So my thanks come from him. My thanks go to him.
So when we're serving him, we're doing it in a
spirit of appreciation of gratitude feet Thessalonians five eighteen. And
everything give thanks for this is the will of God
(27:55):
in Messiah issue of for you. And everything give thanks.
Why it's the will of God and Messiah issue it
for you. Don't let this world beat you down. Don't
let the enemy make you forget what He's done, what
(28:15):
God's done for you. Don't let him get you so
focused on the attack and all that's going on. Focus
on the praise first. Warfare will be there when you're done.
Warfare can wear us down, Believe me, I know. And
if all you focus on is warfare, it will take
(28:39):
you to places that your mind and heart and spirit
cannot endure. You have to put the sword away, and
you have to praise, and you have to worship, and
you have to set your eyes and your heart on
Him to know why you do what you do in everything,
Give thanks, for this is the will of God. Ephesians
(29:01):
five eighteen through twenty. The Amplified, do not get drunk
with wine, for that is wickedness, corruption to stupidity. But
be filled with the Holy Spirit and constantly guided by Him.
Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
offering praise by singing and making melody with your heart
(29:26):
to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father
for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus
the Messiah, always all the time, every day, giving thanks
to God the Father for all things. Don't get distracted,
(29:53):
don't get manipulated. Don't get caught up in the corruption
of this world. Now I'll get caught up in the
Holy Spirit. Be guided by him. He will always draw
your attention back to the Lord. He will always draw
your attention back to your heavenly Father. Walk in the spirit,
(30:18):
don't walk in the flesh. Over and over and over.
And I'm going to tell you this every time we talk,
every chance I get. We're heading in two very dark days.
And if we don't stay in the light, and if
we don't shine with him, because He is light, there's
(30:38):
no darkness in him at all, then we're going to
get enveloped. And if you've never been in that kind
of darkness, you don't understand. It will wear you down,
it will break you. But I'm telling you right now,
and the name He is sure. If you do it,
(30:59):
the Word says, do you cannot be broken. So this
attitude of gratitude, this power of thanksgiving, the Bible seems
to talk a lot about it, so I guess it
must be important. What do you think thanksgiving? It is
a theme commonly found in the Psalms Psalm fifty, verse fourteen,
(31:23):
offer to God thanksgiving and pay your vows to the
most High, as I've already reads one six, verse one.
Praise the Lord and give thanks to the Lord, for
he is good. For his mercy endurers forever. Psal one
O seven, Verse one give thanks to the Lord, for
he is good. His mercy endures forever. See. I like
(31:45):
when the Bible repeats stuff. The reason I like it
it's their way of telling me this is important. So
I'm going to say it again. It's important. I'm going
to write it again Home and Bible Dictionary says thanksgiving
is gratitude towards God, generally in response to his concrete
acts in history. But I would add even to what
(32:06):
he's done personally for us. Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving,
sing praises on the harp to our God. Well, I
don't play a harp, so I can just sing. I
can turn on music. I can sing along with the
praise and worship music. That was Psalm one, verse seven.
(32:29):
By the way, the psalmists, whoever they were, whether it
was Moses or David or the anonymous writers that they
called the Sons of Core, didn't matter who it was.
They valued a song of thanksgiving. In fact, it was
valued more than sacrifice Psalm sixty nine, verses thirty and
(32:53):
thirty one. I will praise the name of God with
the song, and I will magnify him with thanks thanksgiving.
This also shall please the Lord better than an ox
or bull, which has horns and hoofs. The sacrifice of praise.
(33:14):
We're called to offer praise and thanksgiving morning, noon and night.
Praise and thanksgiving in times of stress, praise and thanksgiving
in times of attack, Praise and thanksgiving in times of plenty,
in times of lack. Change the way you do things. Ps.
(33:39):
Forty two, verses one through eight. It says for the
choir director, this is written as a song, and it
says the psalm of the descendants of Cora. These are
the anonymous writers that they have no record of who
actually wrote it. As the dear longs for streams of war.
(34:00):
For I long for you, O God. I thirst for
God to live in God. Where can I go and
stand before Him day and night? I have only tears
for food, while my enemies continually taught me saying where
is this God of yours? My heart is breaking as
(34:21):
I remember how it used to be. I walked among
the crowd of worshipers leading a great procession to the
House of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid
the sound of a great celebration. Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad? I will put my
(34:43):
hope in God, and I will praise him again, my
Savior and my God. Now I am deeply discouraged, But
I will remember you even from distant Mount Hermon, the
source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mazar,
I hear the tumult of the raging seas. Ask for
your waves and surging ties sweep over me? Has your
(35:10):
waves and surging tides sweep over me? Sometimes it feels
that way, doesn't it. But each day the Lord pours
his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I
sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
Powerful question, why are you cast down on my soul?
(35:33):
Why are you sad or restless? Why are you not
remembering what He did for you? Why remember what He
has done for you and be thankful? Oh, the Lord
is good. His mercy endures forever. Oh Richard, that's easy
(35:56):
for you to say, No, really, it's not. It's something
I've learned through experience. This is experiential knowledge. This is
through loss, This is through pain, this is through suffering,
this is through disappointments. I've learned what Oswald Chambers says here.
(36:19):
We have to pray with our eyes on God, not
on the difficulties, setting our minds on things above. Life's
going to have its ups and downs. Nothing you and
I can do about that. It's how we handle the
downs that will affect how we enjoy the ups. How
(36:45):
do you do it? You do it through praise, You
do it through being thankful. That's why I say it's
a personal way of life. For a believer in y
Shuah is a lord of your life, than this should
be your way. This should be your thoughts. And if
(37:06):
you're having a hard time remembering that, I'm giving you
the scriptures that you can count on to do that.
Or you can just download this teaching and listen to
it over and over. Read the word, listen to the lesson.
Whatever it takes. If you're willing to do whatever it takes,
(37:28):
it will happen. Psalm ninety two, verse one says it
is good to give thanks to the Lord and sing
praises to your name, Oh Most High, even Jonah knew
this Jonah two nine. I will sacrifice to you with
a voice, with the voice of thanksgiving, I will pay
(37:51):
what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. Your salvation,
your redemption, your ability to be born again, is from
the Lord. It's a gift from the Lord. Have you
(38:12):
forgotten what he did for you? Have you forgotten what
it felt like to be lost? Have you forgotten what
it felt like to be in the hands of the enemy. See,
that's why thanksgiving was central to the Old Testament worship.
They were remembering the sacrifices and the offerings. They were
(38:37):
remembering what He did for them, and they did it
because they were thankful. He parted the Red Sea, he
drowned Pharaoh's army, and that's why they sang songs about it.
But for some reason in this world, and it's got
to be demonically influenced, were incur to forget. We don't
(39:02):
want traditions, we want something new. We don't want to remember.
We want to move on. Deuteronomy eight ten. When you've
eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord
your God for the good land which he has given you.
Do you say grace? Are you one of those people
(39:25):
like we are. We say grace, we give things for
the food public privately, doesn't matter. We'll even hold hands.
I don't care what anybody thinks. I don't think. I
don't remember anybody telling me not to do that or
it was inappropriate, And I wouldn't care anyway. If any
place said that to me, I'd get up and leave.
They wouldn't deserve my business. If you don't, please do
(39:53):
being inspiration to others some one, let them sacrifice the
sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare his works with rejoice. Have
you ever had something happen and go well, praise God,
Praise the Lord. Set it out loud in public. Try it. Yeah,
(40:20):
some people get upset. The demonically possessed will get upset.
Those that are of certain religions will get upset. That's
their problem, not mine. That's why David implored the Levites
and employed them. It was their occupation to invoke, to
(40:41):
thank and to praise the Lord first Chronicle sixteen four.
And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before
the Ark of the Lord, to commemorate, to thank and
to praise the Lord, God of Israel. David in all
of his flaws, and all the things that he did wrong,
he understood first Chronicles twenty three point thirty. The Levites
(41:05):
were to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord,
and likewise at evening first Chronicles sixteen seven through twelve.
On that day, David first delivered this psalmon to the
hand of Aesop and to his brothers to thank the Lord. Oh,
give thanks to the Lord. Call upon his name, make
(41:27):
known as deeds among the people, sing to him, sing
psalms to him. Talk of all his wondrous works, glory
in his holy name. Let the hearts of those rejoice
who seek the Lord, seek the Lord and his strength,
to seek his face evermore, remember his marvelous works which
(41:47):
he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.
I don't know how long you've been listening to the porch,
but if you've been listening since day one, you know
so that I start every session in prayer and praise
and thanks. We learned that in the home fellowship, don't
(42:09):
enter his presence without praise, and don't begin to pray
and ask for things until you praise them. And I
know some get annoyed of how people tell me. You
go on too long. Why do we even do that?
You wasting five minutes, You're wasting ten minutes. I used
to waste longer. Ah, I used to take longer. It
(42:31):
wasn't a waste. It's important. If we were personal, face
to face, and we weren't doing this through technology, I
really wouldn't care about the time it took to get
things done to get to the Bible study. But the
Word is more important than me. The Word is more
(42:55):
important than my ramblings or my opinions. But if you're
going to offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord,
offered of your own free will levettic Is twenty two,
verse twenty nine, don't feel a compulsion to do it.
Do it because you mean it. It's got to be
(43:17):
done freely and personally from your heart, or it means nothing.
And one thing I do know, and I do understand,
and I've taught you this, and the various conferences and
the teachings about sound, about vibration, about the world and
(43:38):
how He created it. I believe that creation joins in
offering thanks to God. Whether it's the song of the
bird or the chirping of the frog, or the noise
that they make in the morning, when the sun comes up,
(43:59):
or when the stars a peer. There's something about it
that intrinsically touches me inside that they're making a declaration.
Maybe they don't even know, maybe it's just been put
in their DNA all creation. Well, if they're going to
have grown for the return of the sons of God,
(44:20):
they're gonna groan for his return, then they must praise.
They must feel that. I don't know. It's a thought,
isn't it some Verses nine through eleven. The Lord is
good to all, and his tender mercies are all over
his works. All your works shall praise you, O Lord.
(44:41):
I'm one of them. And your saints shall bless you.
They shall speak the glory of your kingdom and talk
of your power. Hmm, the glory of his kingdom, the
Lord's prayer. So many things that you can just open
(45:03):
your Bible and read out loud and fulfill these things
I'm talking about, praise and thanksgiving, morning, noon and night.
You shouldn't have to be told to do it. You
shouldn't have to schedule it. It should be there Hebrews
(45:25):
thirteen fifteen. Through him, Therefore, let us at all times
offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is
the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and
glorify His name. It's a sweet fruit that I believe
he receives from our heart to his. Let it come
(45:51):
from your heart. I know some of you are hurting.
I know your hearts are hurting. You feel let down.
You feel at times that you been forgotten by God.
But that's that's not true. Delay is not denial. He
wants what's best for you. You haven't been forgotten. He
(46:16):
still sees you. But I'm gonna praise him even when
I feel like that. I'm gonna praise him and think
thank him more so when I feel like that, to
get my spiritman to wake up, to shake off of
me all the weight to this world and all the
things that the enemy has put on me to weigh
(46:37):
me down. Oh why are you? Why are you praising him?
He's forgotten you. Where's your God now? Mars is? Yeah,
Now I know where my God is. I know where
my father is. He's still on the throne, and the
Lord that I serve is sitting in his right hand.
(46:58):
And oh, by the way, Satan, I get to sit
with him in the heavenly places. You not so much.
I'm thankful. I'm thankful for his deliverance from sin and
from bondage, and giving me back the family I threw away,
forgiving and forgetting, putting my sins in the sea of forgetfulness,
(47:21):
covering it with the blood Roman six seventeen and eighteen.
But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin,
yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
to which you were delivered, And having been set free
from sin, you became slaves of righteousness for God's indescribable grace,
(47:46):
gift of grace and Messiah Tewo Corinthians nine fifteen. Thanks
be to God for his indescribable gift. One Corinthians fifteen
fifty six through fifty eight. The sting of death is sin,
and the strength of the sin of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God who gives us the victory
(48:10):
through that or now ya shu Ahamashiah, Lord Jesus the Messiah. Therefore,
my beloved brethren and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding
in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor
is not in vain. In the Lord, Be steadfast, be immovable.
(48:32):
An attitude of thanksgiving will help you to do that
through Him. Therefore, let us at all times offer up
to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit
of lips, that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify his
name through him. Acknowledge. At all times, offer up to
(48:59):
God a sacrifice of praise, fruit of the lips, to
thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify his name. Hebrews thirteen fifteen.
Our hope is in the Lord, and that hope will
(49:22):
not be misplaced. So praise him, and the rising up
and the lying down. Praise Him in the dark and
the light, and the morning and the night. Praise him.
That's what we see in the Psalms, acts of devotion,
(49:42):
public praise, in the midst of the congregation of the
goodness of God Psalm thirty five eighteen. I will give
you thanks in the great assembly, I will praise you
among many people. We're told to be quiet, We're told
to settle down. We're told to sit down. Oh, you're
(50:04):
too noisy, you're too disruptive. If I don't do it,
the rocks are going to cry out the rocks, will
not outpraise me Thanksgiving the attitude not today. Thanksgiving is
(50:27):
vital intrinsic element of worship, and it characterizes the entirety
of the life of a believer. Say that again, Thanksgiving
is a vital intrinsic element of worship and characterizes the
(50:52):
entirety of the life of a believer. Now, maybe you've
been doing this. Maybe this is just old news to you.
Maybe it's just a reminder, an encouragement. Maybe it's just
to stir it up. For some of you. This is
a challenge. I'm asking you to rise to the challenge.
(51:15):
You will see your life change. You'll see your attitude change.
You'll see the atmosphere around you change. You'll see the
people around you change. It'll draw some people to you,
it'll clear some people out. Colossians two, verses six and seven.
(51:36):
As you have therefore received Messiah, issue of the Lord,
so walk in Him, rooted and built up in him,
and established in the faith as you have been taught,
abounding in it. With thanksgiving, having been deeply rooted in Him,
(51:58):
and now being continual he built up in him, becoming
increasingly more established in your faith. Just as you were
taught and overflowing in it with gratitude. That's why this
word is so important. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by
(52:20):
the word of God. That's why the listening. That's why
I'm so glad that you can download everything we do
here for free. If you want to give an offering
or blessing or do whatever, that's great. It's appreciated, but
it's not an obligation. Freely has been given to me.
Freely I give, and I hope that my bread returns
(52:43):
back to me. That I cast upon the waters, but
having been deeply rooted in him and being continually built
up in him, overflow with gravity. To that word Greek
word for rooted, it's rizzu, meaning to strengthen with roots
(53:07):
and to be thoroughly grounded in faith, and it symbolizes stability, growth,
and deep connection to God. So the expression rooted refers
to initially what took place at the time of our conversion,
(53:28):
the moment when we remember how sinful we were and
how lost we were, and He saved us. We were lost.
Then he found us. We were lost in darkness and
he came and got us. So we find our roots
in him. We draw our nourishment from him. And that's
(53:53):
why he's divine where the branches. That's why you need
that sap of the Holy Spirit flowing through him into you,
abounding in it with thanksgiving. Not don't be religious about it.
That's the last thing he wanted. He didn't want us
to be coldly religious, ritualistic, but he wanted heart's dynamic,
(54:16):
hearts captivated by the truths, the marvelous, wonderful truths of
the Gospel, the good News, so that they in turn
would overflow and praise and thankfulness to the Lord. So
be like trees, fast rooted, building, steadily rising, feeling His
(54:39):
presence about you. And even for this to your education
has led up to be unshaken in your faith and
overflowing with thanksgiving. Not tomorrow every day, you can do
it tomorrow too, but every day Colossians three point fifteen.
To let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
(55:00):
to which also you were called in one body, and
be thankful. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to which also you were called in one body, and
be thankful. It's because the peace of God in our
hearts leads us to being thankful. Colossians four of us. Two.
(55:28):
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.
Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert, focused in
your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving. Let me
(55:48):
leave you with one last quote, this one from Charles Spurgeon.
There should be a parallel between our supplications and our thanksgivings.
We ought not to leap in prayer and limp in praise. Shh,
(56:11):
leap in prayer, then leap in praise. Don't don't limp
and praise. Be just as active and just as fiery
in your praise as you were in your supplication. Have
a persistent, focused attitude of thanksgiving every day and all
the time. So you want power, you want authority, You
(56:36):
want the freedom to walk in this world undisturbed by
the enemy. Do it with an attitude of gratitude. Drives
the enemy nuts. Do it with an attitude of gratitude.
Be grateful for your salvation, Be grateful for his presence
(57:00):
in your life. Be grateful for everything that He's done
for you. So, Father, we are grateful. You could have
given up on us. He could have said, oh the
heck with this, I'm done. I don't want to do
this anymore. But you didn't do that. You made away
(57:23):
where there was no way. You set things in motion
to redeem us and restore us after Adam and Eve
messed up. You loved us just as we are, but
too much to let us stay that way. So you
set us free, and you did it with your shure,
(57:46):
you only begotten son. So thank you Lord. We are
thankful now and every day. We are thankful for all
that you've done, all that you did when you were
on this earth, all that you endured. But we are
thankful that we are not forgotten, that your eyes are
still upon us. We're thankful for this nation, with all
(58:10):
of its problems, that we live here and not someplace
else where we couldn't even be having this conversation. We're
thankful that we're going to see you again, that you
haven't abandoned us, that we have a blessed hope, a
guarantee of your return, to which we shall praise and
(58:33):
worship you forever and ever end ever and glorify your name.
So now, today tomorrow, all over this world, everywhere the
sound goes forth, we say thank you. We are full
(58:55):
of thanks, we are giving thanks you are blessing your
holy name. Then I say this, and I pray this,
and I believe this with all my heart. And you
see his name. And if you agree with me, say amen.
(59:15):
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the
Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be
gracious to you. May the Lord I don't I your shue.
I'm a shiak. Jesus the Messiah, lift up his countenance
upon you and give you peace. Give you shall oam.
