Speaker 2 (00:10):
Let's head to the Forum, Good evening and welcome inside
the historic Halifax Forum for tonight's Nova Scotia You eighteen
Major Hockey League matchup between the visitors, the March and
Milco Hunters and the home side, Halifax Max.
Speaker 3 (00:29):

Halifax Max an unblemished record six oh and oh, good
for twelve points, top of the table in the Nova
Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League. In goal for March and
Milkco Hunters Tonight Your Visitors is Noah Pulk.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Paulk is one two and oh.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
On the air with a four point sixty nine goals
against it an eight to fifty six save percentage. At
the other end, Chandler Bell gets to start at for
the Max. He's three oh and o with a one
point three to three goals against and a sparkling nine
to fifty save percentage. Halifax Max wearing their familiar home
whites with the McDonald's gold and red trimp skating left
(01:10):
to right, and March and Milco Hunters with their road
Blacks with the white trim skating right to left. We
are underway. Great to have you here. On a Wednesday
night at the Halifax Forum.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Some midweek U.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Eighteen hockey action puck down into the Hunter's zone, gathering
it up there as a defenseman, Liam Worth Max quickly
and on that puck right in front of chance right away.
As River Welsh was fed the puck just in front
of the goal, he couldn't get a good shot away. Welsh,
last time I was here at the Forum, scored a
dramatic late third period short handed goal to give the
(01:44):
Max an eventual victory. He had the game winning goal
short handed. It was three to two for the Max
over Steele Subru and that exciting contest. And tonight it's
March and Milco Hunters the visitors with the Max looking
to keep that record perfect at six o and o
moving to seven oh and o hopefully after tonight. If
(02:05):
you're the Max and for coach JP McCallum and the
March and Milkow Hunters, listen, they just want to get
some momentum going, get another w on the board. And
see if they can build from there. One thing I
can say about this March and Milco Hunters team a
couple of games that I've broadcast involving them. They're a
(02:26):
hard working club that never says give up. They don't quit,
they keep going and should provide a stiff test tonight
for a very talented and deep Halifax Max team. Head
coach Tim Boyce not here this evening, so assistant coach
Tony McCarthy handling the head coaching duties behind the Max
bench tonight. Big hello to Tim if you're listening, hopefully
(02:48):
you're listening either live or to the replay later on.
That puck all the way down into the Hunter's zone,
who's a chuku giving chase there on the for check
for Halifax. Just underway a minute and twelve seconds into
this period, Breen chases that puck back into his own zone.
Breen fires it up the left side, intercept it over
(03:10):
there as blocking it was Dawson Swift and that puck
comes in quickly no problem as Bell was dead the
top of his crease and took the puck into the
body and holds it for a face off. So not
quite a minute and a half played in this first
period face off in the mag zone, both teams getting
(03:33):
fresh legs out on the ice. Here in this one
face off was to the left of Bell and it's
a scrambled draw. Hunters will pick it up now with Urkhart.
That's Cameron Urkart working that puck down and it'll go
all the way into the Hunter's zone trying to jump on.
If there was Shearer for the Max. He wears number
sixteen right handed, shooting forward. Now, Sharer watches as the
(03:56):
puck goes down into his own end and goaltender Bell
stops it and send his mates back the other way.
Puck is the blue line, not out. Long shot from
just inside the blue line deflected just wide as Bell
I'm not sure if he saw that point shot coming in,
but it deflected harmlessly wide. Now the Max in transition
back the other way, Sheer tries to do a little
tow drag move between the legs that was stopped. Good
(04:18):
defensive played by the Hunters. And then the puck fed
right out in front from behind the goal line, and
Noah Pulk has to be sharp with bodies all around him,
and he grabs the puck and freezes it and we'll
have a face off here with just a little over
two minutes played in this opening period. Glad to have
you with us on a Wednesday night. Always great to
(04:40):
be in this beautiful building. The Halifax Form seen many
a wonderful event over the years. Has this Halifax Orm
not just hockey either, basketball, lacrosse, closed circuit events from
way back when I'm dating myself when I say closed circuit,
some of you of a certain vintage will know what
I'm talking about. Now here's strong chipping that puck down
(05:04):
into his own quick shot there letting it rip was
Nate McKay. He got a good shot away from the
left wing circle. A couple of bodies flying there as
the two seventeen Strong and clue it come together. Puck
out in front went in toward the goal. No problem
for Pulk as he deflects it off to the side.
Max Day on the puck. They'll keep it in. This
is a chance.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Now back it goes and tree windstart for the Max.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
He saw the opportunity to skate it from the blue
line and the Halifax defenseman has his first goal of
the year as he was beautifully fed the puck by
Odell and Treewind makes no mistake walking in and just
at the top of the right circle fire as it
passed the goaltender. Pulk and the Max are on the
(05:48):
board and Logan Treewin has his first goal of the year.
So that comes just before we each three minutes of play.
Here they come again live down that right side, then
cut toward the goal, got a backhand or away and
Pulk made the save. Puck now being controlled by the
(06:13):
Hunters in their own zone. So the Max on home
ice get an early lead. Now Hunters with that puck,
they'll skate it up. Trying to make a move there
at the blue line was Holko trying to keep himself
on side.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
He fell and the.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Max will gather the puck with the captain of the
Max Kreelman after the right wing side to Welsh back
to Creelman light up the middle creene and thought about
taking a shot and then tried to feed it over
to the left, but the Hunters read it nicely and
broke that up.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
But you could see Creelman knew what he wanted to do.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Now back the other way a big chance as busting
in there was Nate Budreau for the Hunters and shot
it just wide of the goal to the glove side
of Bell. Here's Boudreau again with a shot, and I
think Bell just got a little piece of that good
shift here for number twenty three, Nate Bundrou for the Hunters,
and he goes off for a change. Noah Hawco now
(07:05):
keeps it in and he'll dish it down low taking
a bump. There was Andrew Erk cared for the Hunters
and the Max will skate it out with some speed.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
This is MJ. Bottomley has some help.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
He had liver or on the left side and Bottomly
slid that puck over the liver. But mister Liver just
a little bit over r anxious in ahead of the
play and the Max are offside, so the face off
will be just outside the March and Milcow Hunters zone.
The Hunter's last game a five to two loss down
(07:39):
in the Valley against the Valley Wildcats. Here's a chance,
now clue it. One man to be clue it. Rifles
a shot and put it wide to the near side
off the glass.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Another chance. Good pressure here from the Hunters.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
As they've had a couple of good looks at goal
in the last couple of shifts fifteen forty one to
go in this first period, Max lead. It won nothing
on the strength of the tree. When goal Who's a
cuckoo now sends it down into the zone. It goes
between the legs of Pulk as he came out of
his net to play the puck. Carter Sullivan quickly on
that puck back to Breen. Breen along the board sends
(08:12):
it down low. Now the puck goes right in behind
the Max goal. They'll swoop. Excuse me the Hunter's goal.
Love it try defeed it in front, intercepted nicely there
by Jack Baldwin. Good defensive play by number eight for
the Hunter's Baldwin. That puck came to the blue line
clew It had to go off his skate, but he
had to stay out of his own or he would
have been off side. Now Breen right back the other way.
(08:33):
Good end to end action here in the early stages
of this period, Who's a cucku from the right point
takes a long shot that went off the toe of
the skate of Peyton Boudreau and the Hunters will clear
it out of the zone. We are at five on
five here. Even strength hockey fourteen forty seven to go
in this opening period. Up and down they go. Now
the Hunter's long lead pass that was intercepted by Guinnish
(08:56):
and the Max right back into the zone. Quick shot
there off the stick of Fleming and the puck is
in the goal. It looked like the goaltender paulk had it,
but somehow it came free and the Max found a
way to push it in. And that's something with this
Halifax Max team. They play right to the whistle and
sometimes beyond it. First down the line is Will Sharer.
(09:18):
So the initial shot came from Fleming as he dashed in,
got a good shot away, and it looked like Noah
Pulk had made the same for the Hunters. But it
ends up trickling in behind the Hunter's goalie and the
Max have goal number two, and I believe it's going
to be credited to Will Sharer.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
So tree win opens up the scoring. So it is.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Indeed Will Shearer with his fourth of the season and
it's two nothing Max. So Treewin and Shearer and the
Max right back on that puck again, it was in
the slot in front of the Hunter's goal. Hunters will
clear it away now, Morris try to get it back
to Schaeffer Gibbs and as whistled down on the off
side and then down to my left end behind the
(10:10):
Max goal line. It was Gibbs getting involved as he
was off side for the Hunters, and then he took
a shot and then that was it. A wrestling match
breaks out with several players from both teams.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
In the middle of that. I didn't think the Royal
Rumble was going to be until next year.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
But officials are in and out, just peeling the players
off the pile one by one. It looks like everybody's
up and off the ice. Looks like Braiden Martin is
getting picked out of that pile and he's having a
few words with the Max bench and it's going to
be Braiden Martin heading over to the penalty box for
(10:51):
the Hunters. And I gotta believe the officials are probably
going to pick a Max player out as well, because
that was just kind of a free for all melee
and it's going to be Jack's ginnish. So twenty one
Guinish for the Max, twenty two Martin for the Hunters,
and we'll see now what gets put up on the board.
If it's going to be offsetting minors or something more.
(11:13):
As again, the Hunters were coming in, they looked good
coming in to the mag zone, but Schaeffer Gibbs was offside,
and as the whistle blew and play slowed, Gibbs kind
of was still kind of playing with that puck a
little bit after the whistle. I'm not sure if that's
what precipitated the extracurricular stuff, but a Max player definitely
took a little bit of a I don't want to
(11:36):
say a run, but certainly had some contact with Gibbs
after the play that drew a crowd, and then it
was a big, gigantic wrestling melee on the ice. And
now the two referees. We have two referees, two lines
people here working this game, and the penalty boxes are
just below my broadcast position. They're at the center ice redline,
(11:56):
and two referees are conferring now and as they say, meanwhile,
it's Guinnish for the Max and Martin for the Hunters
who were in the box, and then a couple of
the alternates, one from each team looking on as the
officials kind of talked this over. So no penalties up
on the board, so again, whether it's offsetting minors or
(12:19):
something more, we'll have to wait and see. Now it's
the Hunter's captain skating over and Shaeffer Gibbs, so it
looks like he's going to the dressing room. So I'm
not sure if that's a game. Is fourteen oh five left,
so it would have to be more than a ten
(12:40):
minute misconduct for Gibbs to skate off to the dressing
room unless he had to get some kind of repairs
or something. So some extra activity here early in this
first period between.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
The Halifax Max.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
And the March and Milco Hunters Max leading it to
nothing goals from Treewan and Sharer.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
And not quite six minutes played.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
So again, the referee now will relay all the information
in terms of infractions to the timekeeper. Cliff Blair doing
his great work as always down there in the.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Time keeping bench.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
He does social media for the Max, he does time keeping,
rink announcing, he's the DJ. He wears many caps, does
mister Cliff Blair. Well, a while I have a minute,
I just want to remind you. Coming up in the
first intermission, I'll speak with Halifax Max assistant coach Jack Flammon.
Jack of course joining the Max coaching staff this offseason,
(13:44):
played in the WHL with captain for a Kadie University
in the Atlantic University Sport Conference, and also coached the
Notre Dame Hounds out in Saskatchewan. So a wealth of
experience behind the bench in the name of Jack Flammon,
and he'll join me in the first intermission to talk
about this game and about his role with the Max.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
So now.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
The one of the lines people in the referee over
at the March and Milk Hunter's bench talking to coach
JP McCallum and the Hunter's staff, and another referee talking
to the Max player Guinnish who's in the penalty box
trying to paint a picture for you as all of
this transpires. With fourteen oh five left to play, so
(14:33):
not quite six minutes played here, We've had a couple
of Max goals and a little bit of excitement, some
activity after an offside whistle.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
So through all of.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
That, we're still five skaters aside and the face off
down in the Hunter zone off the draw, it's controlled
by the Max, so.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
We've got five Max players. I'm trying to count. It
looks like.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
It may be a power play for the maximonly counting
four skaters and there is two minutes now put up
on the board, so.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
It's a power play.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
After all of that shuffling and wrestling, it's a power
play for the max. Kreelman dishes off to the right side,
quick shot as a snapper there off the stick of
Carter Odell. Max on the power play here with the
two goal lead, working it down low, they'll throw it
in toward the net. That was Cooper Strong. Strong has
(15:28):
it again out of Creelman from the right point back
to the other side. Odell dishes down low from the
goal line, letting a shot go. Was Cooper Strong Max
buzzing on the power play here, one tend to go
in the man advantage for Halifax SuDS just inside the
blue line down to the right side for Creelman who's
down low back to SuDS.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Sudds tried to get.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
A little one timer going there and he lost control
of the puck and ended up fanning on it. Puck
goes back into the mazone and now Budrow, that's neat.
Budrow got tangled up there with number two Gavin Sudds,
and then the puck ends up going out of play,
so no shortage of things going on here. As Bob
(16:13):
Cole would have said, once upon a time, everything is
happening as long as I don't have to say they're
going home, they're going home again. If you have a
certain vintage, you know exactly what I'm talking about. There's
a quick shot rebound they score off the face off.
The Max Bottomly got the initial shot away. Pulp made
(16:34):
a nice save on the first shot, but a big,
juicy rebound was sitting right in front of the goal
and the Max jumped on it and it looks like
it's number eighteen River Welsh who deposits the rebound after
the initial Bottomly shot. So Welsh has the goal. That's
(16:54):
number five on the year for River's win Sharer and
now Welsh, and it's three nothing for the Max. They
don't put shots on goal up on the board here,
so I'll have to check the Max social account at
the end of the period to get an update on
shots on goal, but I can definitely tell you it's
(17:16):
three to nothing. So that was a power play goal
and now the Max quickly on that puck again. We're
back to five on five even strength here. Welsh from
the right circle, quick shot and a stick saved by
Pulk bottomly down behind the Hunter's goal.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Try to work it up to Welsh.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Welsh got bodied off the puck there, good defensive play
by Nate Budrow boundrou wears number twenty four for the Hunters.
And now I think we've got another penalty coming here.
Perhaps look to be maybe behind the play, No, perhaps not.
I thought I saw the referee signal four a penalty.
There's so much going on that I thought, well, that
(17:58):
makes sense, there's going to be another penalty. But however, Nope,
not the case. I may have been knocked down with
a high stick. That may have been the signal that
I saw out of the corner of my eye looking
to my right. Off the face off mass control tree.
You in with a shot from the right point, that
one off the shoulder of Pulk. Now Hunter's right back
the other way up the middle of the ice. Cluet
(18:21):
tried to get by SuDS and couldn't. Now Fleming he'll
gather up the puck for the Max sends it up
toward the red line, intercepted there by Liam mknight. McKnight
sends it down into the mazone SuDS will stop it
there and work it over to Usa Chuco, who chugs
in behind his own goal. Here's cheek a Huza. Chuco
tried to skate up the left side. His progress was stopped,
(18:41):
but the Max jumped right back on it. Now here's
Carter Sullivan into the zone for Usa Chuco busting up
the middle. He got tied up there by Braden Cown
count seeing his first action in the Nova Scotia, a
TEA major hockey league, an affiliate player from the V's
up seeing his first act. So a pretty exciting night
for number eighteen. Braden Cowned. He did a good job
(19:04):
there defensively breaking up that chance and tying up Who's
a Chuco? Elevenh eight left to play in this first period,
Max leaded three to nothing Hunters trying to get down
on that puck Justin Kleut couldn't get it inside the
blue line. Fleming will gather and flip it in toward
the goal and with Whosa Chico coming in for a look, Noah, Pulk,
we'll just hold that puck and we'll have a face
(19:25):
off now once again in the Hunter zone. With ten
point fifty eight to go in this opening period. It's
been a lot going on here.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
It's been a good pace.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
There's been some physicality, some extra curriculars. After a whistle,
I put a couple of players in the box, so
I'm guessing it must have been some kind of misconducts
for Guinness from the Max and Martin from the Hunters.
They're still in the box. Here's Fleming now takes a
quick shot. I'm sorry, that was Cooper Strong, not Fleming.
(19:58):
Strong looking for that puck again, He'll take a nudge
and behind the Hunter's goal. Strong stays on the puck.
Odell comes in to help him out, and Strong came
out from above the goal line. Took a very sharp
angle shot that deflected off something in front and went
up into the netting.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
And we'll have a face off.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
So the face off once again will be in the
Hunter's zone, this time to the right of Noah Pulk.
Now down to ten thirty two to go off the
face off Maxwell control. Here's Strong high slot, takes a shot,
goes into a crowd, hit his own teammate. That hit
the leg of Odell who was in front of the
net and the Hunter as will grab it now and
(20:46):
try to send it out that lead pass trying to
connect with Mason Morris.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
It went by Morris and all the way down the ice.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
It'll be an icing call against the Hunters and once
again the face off will come down into the March
and Milco zone. One thing I can tell you from
calling a couple of games in the early part of
this season, this Halifax Max team is deep. They roll
four lines and they are relentless. I haven't seen them
take a shift off yet in any of the games
(21:14):
I've called involving this Halifax Max club. They put the
pressure on from the puck drop right until the final
whistle and play whistle down there as the puck just
rolled down into the Max zone. So a bit of
a stop and start action here in the last couple
of minutes, getting close to the midway point of period
(21:34):
number one ten oh four to be exact, three goals
for the Max, Tree, Win, Shearer and Welsh your goal
scorers face off just outside the Max blue line and
its control.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
By the Hunters.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Sending it in there is Liam worth Worth watches as
it's gathered up by Bootleer. Bootleir now gets challenged in
behind his own goal. Try to take that puck away
was clue it for the hunters to the right point.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Worth sends it down low, clue it sends it out front.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
There's a good chance as the affiliate player count had
a good look right in front of the goal and
Chandler Bell equal to the task. Nine forty three to go.
Something new the league is implemented this year. Media timeouts
first whistle after the midway point of each period.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
And that's where we are now.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
So Workwater a clean energy drink using natural flavors, sparkling
water and natural caffeine the boost without the chemicals.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
Workwater made in New Brunswick.
Speaker 7 (22:36):

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Nine to go. In this opening period, Max have the
three nothing lead on home ice, face off in the
MAX zone to the left of Bell. Scramble draw and
the Max will jump on that puck, bouncing it off
the boards. Uza Chuko has some space down on the
right side. Quick shot there as he got in deep
and took it from about four feet outside the goal line.
(23:25):
Got a good snap shot away and pulk right over there,
covering up the glove side near side of his net
and made a good save. But a nice outlet pass there,
bouncing it off the boards right to the yawn rushing
cheek a Uzachuko, who got a great look at goal.
Now face off in the Hunter zone to the left
(23:45):
of their net. Scramble face off against Sullivan. Jumps in,
gets the shot away and put it right in front
of the goal and out the other side. Sullivan quickly
on that puck again gathers behind the Hunter's net back
to Bootler at the right point. He'll go across iz
tic tac toe and a quick pass to Sullivan who
was coming into the right circle, and he pushed it
(24:06):
wide to the net. But a couple of good passes there,
just one, two, three in a chance max passing around
like the central red Army of olden days. Here's a
chance now, Hunter's beautiful setup right in front, sliding it
forward was Nate Boudreau and a great opportunity best chance
(24:28):
of the game of skating in on It was Will
Loody and put it just a little wide of the net,
but a great setup and a good look from the
hunters their best chance of this period. It remains three
nothing though Max right back into the hunter's own love.
It takes a hit there along the boards on this
near side and the hunters will try to work it
out with Nate Boudreau again try to find up ahead.
(24:50):
For Andrew Urkhart, it went over Urkart and quickly transitioning
back the other way. Two on two for the Max.
Bottomly has Welsh with him.
Speaker 8 (24:58):
Welsh right in front, takes the feet from Boomly and
Pulk diving across following the shooter makes a great flopping
save on Welsh.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Stillar goaltending from the hunter's netminder Noah Pulk on the
Bottomly to Welsh set up eighth five to go in
this first period, Max leading at three to nothing. It
was almost four, but Pulk shuts the door. Great goaltending.
Another chance is the puck rolls to the side of
the net to the blocker side of Pulk, Max keeping
(25:30):
the puck down in the hunter zone. River Welsh on
that puck chases it after now getting some help along
with Bottomly. Odell chiped that puck back over to the corner.
Bottomly on it quickly shot there puts it wide. Another
chance as Welsh took a sharp angle shot, whistling it
just off the side of the net. Now Kreelman from
(25:51):
the right point. Relentless pressure here and Creelman floats it
in from the right point just inside the blue line.
And there were a couple of players in front of
the goaltender for the Hunters, and Noah Bulk does a
good job of tracking that puck off the point shot
and makes the save, and we'll have a face off
down to seven twenty seven to go here in the
(26:12):
opening period. Just to get a reminder, in the first intermission,
Max assistant coach Jack Flamman will join me for an
intermission interview. That puck bounces off the boards over on
that far side. Baldwin try to move it forward, a
couple of players trying to find that loose puck, and
it's Sudds who slides at the Kreelman who goes.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Back to Sudds.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Sudds over skates the buck in his own zone, McKnight
now jumps on that puck, skates it in deep on
the left wing side. McKnight gets that puck back to
the point, sending it back in.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
There was Luke Murphy.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Murphy, another affiliate, plays for the Martello Buccaneers and he's
up playing with the big club today. Again two affiliate
players seeing their first ever action in the Nova SCOTIU
eighteen Major Hockey League. A big night for those two players,
Brad and Luke Murphy for the March and Milco Hunters.
But here's the Max. Breen took the cross ice feed
(27:07):
fan on up a jumps on again. Breen walks out
in front and lifted the puck wide of the goal.
Now Bootleer from the right point walks in, takes the shot.
Blockers save puck loose and again Bootleer has the puck
again it somehow found its way back to him. He
takes another long shot pulk with a save, rebound down
now behind the goal and out of the corner on
(27:28):
that far side. Just pressure, pressure, pressure coming here from
the Max, keeping the Hunters on their heels and in
their own zone, trying to work it along.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
In there was Murphy. Now Breen steps into his man.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Over on the boards on the far side and Bootler
pinches in, has it down low in the right corner.
Bootler takes a push, puck comes free. Max trying to
keep it in there, trying to work that puck was
McKay for the Max, but it comes out and Baldwin
will gather for the Hunters. Now, Hunters into the zone,
clue it in a crowd, try to do some work
(28:03):
and it looks like it's going to be a hooking call.
So some good work by Clue in the mazone draws
the penalty and it's going to be Nate McKay. McKay
wears number twenty three for this Max team and he
is guilty of the hooking infraction. So with five point
forty one to go in this first period, a power
(28:24):
play chance now for the March and Milco Hunters face
off will be in the mazone number ten, Andrew Urkhart
settles in to take the face off in the mazone
against Sam Fleming and it'll be to the right of
the Max goal. Now it's actually Tromblay who comes in
excuse me, Boudro who comes in to take the draw.
(28:48):
Max watching now as the Hunter's control on the power play.
Couple of chances right in front of the goal and
two saves back to back by Chandler Bell. With Hunters
challenging right off the face off. With the power play
and the Max able to clear it out of the zone,
Hunters now had to skate it back the bringing out
of their own zone. Here's Hawko to the red line,
(29:08):
to the blue line into the zone. Hawko skates it
in behind the Max goal. Hawko taking a look, gets
it back to the right point. McKnight gets it back
to Hawko walks in from the slot, try to get
a shot, couldn't get it past. Love it love it
kept the feet together, it hit Love its pads now
Fleming short handed.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
Fleming takes the shut in Pulk just got the left
toe on it and deflected it wide.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
A great shorthanded chance there by the Max.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
And Sam Fleming the toe save.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Fleming bangs a stick and the Hunters have the puck
into the Max zone.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Setting up McKnight gets it over quick shot. There letting
it go is Dawson Swift, who is challenging toward the
goal and his shot went off.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
A skate back and forth power played chances for the
Hunters and a shorthanded chance for the Max and we're
down to four p thirty seven in the period. Six
seconds left in the Hunter's power play, so the face
off will once again be in the Max zone to
(30:09):
the right of Bell Cluet and on the draw clean Win.
Here's Swift skating with it at the left point, slides
it across to the right side. Now it's down low
right in front was Loody back it comes along shot
there as Peyton Bundrow got a shot away and it
deflected just wide of the goal and that allows Sullivan
to bring it back for the Max.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
He'll send it into the far corner. Chasing after it.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
There is Nash Haverstock on the fore check now trying
to get in on that puck.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Is Cluet one versus two.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Clue does a good job getting to that puck against
the two Max defenders, but it goes outside now into
neutral ice. Just twenty two seconds left in the Hunter's
power play, they're into the Max zone again, sending it
in deep with Jack Baldwin. Now the puck over on
the near side on the left side. Back it comes
to the left point Loody just keeps it in and
(31:00):
tried to work it toward the goal. That was Peyton
Budo number twenty four and another shot comes in and
Swift was right in there. He's jousting now with Kreelman. Meanwhile,
Chandler Bell is down in the butterfly saying, hey, hey guys,
I got the puck.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Let's you know we're good here.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
It's a reset and have a face off, and looks
like Dawson Swift, one of the defenseman for the Hunters,
maybe just having a quick word with the referee about
what transpired just before the stoppage. Swift having a good
year the Hunter's defenseman. Three goals, four assists, good for
seven points. On the air just three seconds left. Now
(31:36):
in the Hunter's power play scramble, drawing the mac zone
and grabbing the puckets Bootler tried to clear it out.
He'll get another chance now and finds River Welsh three
on two back to five, a side pass over. Liver
takes the shot from the top of the left circle
and he sent to Lowell on the ice and wide
of the goal. A big three on two chance there
for the Max right as their penalty kill took care
(31:59):
of bits and we went back to five a side,
and then a long shot floated in from Liam Worth.
So again earlier in the period when all of that
extracurricular stuff broke out after a Hunter's offside that caused
a couple of offsetting penalties plus a minor to the Hunters.
(32:21):
Shaeffer Gibbs, strong defender for this Hunter's team, went to
the dressing room. So again I didn't hear any announcement here,
so I'll have to see if I can get an
update whether or not he's gone for the game. If
it's just a period, there's a chance. As the Max
came in deep another chances coming in on top of
the puck quickly was Cooper Strong, So a couple of
(32:41):
chances in tight from the Max, but Pulk and the
Hunters able to keep the puck out and keep an
eight three to nothing Max lead. But yeah, I'll see
if I can get an update on what's going on
with Shaeffer Gibbs from the Hunters. Max again trying to
set up O'Dell who was waiting for it about three
feet in front of the goal. They couldn't get him
the puck though Hunters will clear it down the ice
(33:02):
five on five even strength hockey here with two thirty
five to go in this first period, Strong from the
right wing cream And takes it in and got a
good shot away and Paulk again had to come over
cover up to the post on that in near side
with the captain of the Max Creelman skating in with
some speed and getting a good shot away from intight.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Again. They don't post shots on goal here in the.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Arena, so I'll have to check the Max social media
to see if I can get an update there. They
usually do a pretty good job of posting a graphic
with the score and the shots on goal. Two twenty
seven to go here in the period and the Max
control in the Hunter's zone. But it's picked up now
by Noah Hawko. Hawko had his pocket picked by Bottomley,
(33:49):
but the Hunter is able to clear the zone, goes
to Guinnish. He'll send it back to Treeman. Beautifully pass
Bottomly from the left wing side, good shot and a
nice blocker save as Bottomly got a great shot away
and Pulk made the blocker say, but the puck stays
in the Hunter zone. Max trying to jump on it again.
There's Hawco once again Hawco number twelve for the Hunters.
(34:12):
He's had a strong period. He'll go after the puck
again against River Welsh. Hawco and Welsh come together on
the boards on the far side of the rink. Now
the Hunters will pick it up, try to skate it out,
trying to jab it down the ice was Jack Baldwin
goes down in behind the Max goal and it's a
quickly cleared up to toward the blue line. Swift kept
it in there, but just for a moment as the
(34:34):
Max tried to work it out, but it's intercepted.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Now Baldwin has it, dishes off, gets it back to
little give.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
And go as Baldwin got it over to McKnight who
put it back to Baldwin and Baldwin put it just wide.
Baldwin on the puck again along the boards, leaves it
there for that affiliate player Luke Murphy. Murphy wearing number sixteen,
no name bar on the back of his sweater. If
that doesn't matter. He's played well in the minutes that
he's been on the ice. Now he's got to defend
(34:59):
as the Max come in, Liver slides it across the
bottomly and bottomly was tied up nicely there by Andrew Urkhart.
Good defensive play again by the Hunters with the max
coming in with numbers again. Now Hunters will grab it
with Andrew Workhart down the left side her cart try
to slide it across to Cameron her card as the
(35:20):
two Workarts tried to connect Hunters on the puck again.
We're inside a minute to play here, down to forty
seconds to be precise. Murphy sends it in there for
the Hunters. Murphy now has it again from the left point,
sends it in toward the goal that goes off into.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
The corner, though now down low.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
After the puck is Andrew Workhart up along the right
wing boards as a Chuco watches as it goes by him,
and the Hunters will send it ahead with Peyton Buodrow
flipping it high and it goes high and out of play.
So it's a stoppage and a face off. Just eighteen
seconds to go here in period number one. Some Nova
(36:03):
Scotia UA teen Major Hockey League action on a Wednesday night.
I don't know if you're a Burger King fan, but
Wednesday always reminds me of Wopper Wednesday. I just like
commercials tell me what to eat. There's taco Tuesday, Whopper Wednesday.
Who's a Chuco? Now takes a quick shot, A nice
little glove save there, Who's a Chuco? Came in on
that right side, got a nice shot off and the
(36:25):
gloves saved from Pulk. There's another chance from the left
point and Pulk again just got a piece through a crowd.
Just one second to go and the buzzer will sound
to end the period. So Sheer and Martin have been
in the penalty box since about the fourteen minute, which
is since about the six minute mark, I should say
of the period. So the period comes to a close.
(36:51):
See if I can hear the shots on goal. Oh,
I didn't quite hear it from the ECHOEPA system at
the form. But again, the Max social media do a
good job typically of posting score update and shot results,
so I'll check their social media for that in a
couple of minutes. But overall a pretty good period for
(37:12):
the home side Halifax Max. They got goals from Logan
Tree when Will Shearer and River Welsh and after twenty
minutes of play, the Halifax Max on home ice lead
this one by a score of three. Nothing step aside
for just a moment. But when we come back, I'll
have a chat with Max's assistant coach, Jack Flaman will
do that in just a moment. It's three nothing Max
(37:35):
after one back in just a minute.

You're listening to the Nova Scotia you eighteen Major Hockey
League on FFM Radio. Let's get back to the rink.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Welcome back to the Halifax Forum where after one period
of play, the Halifax Max, on the strength of gore
from Treewin, Shearer and Welsh, lead it by a score
of three nothing over the March and Milco Hunter. It's
very pleased to be joined by Max assistant coach Will Flammon.
Will you were saying, just as you came over before
the interview, a good start. Tell me about that start.
(39:16):
What are your thoughts watching that first period from the bench.
Speaker 11 (39:19):
Yeah, I just felt like we played our game right
from the start.
Speaker 12 (39:22):
We had a plan of getting pucks deeep and working
or outworking their opponent, and that's kind of what we did.
I feel like maybe we took a couple shifts off
once we got a couple, but going into the second
that'll change and the guys that are working will keep
playing well.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
You mentioned you thought that the guys maybe took a
couple of shifts off. One thing I mentioned in that
first period is the games that I've called so far
this year, I rarely ever see the Max take a
shift off. They're relentless, always pressuring the other team. Is
that something that this coaching staff talks about and what
kind of things do you say to the guys to
get them to beat that relentless.
Speaker 12 (39:58):
Yeah, you know, it's the expectation they put on themselves.
They want to do big things this year. To do
big things, you got to compete all the time, doesn't
matter who your opponent is or what type of practice
you're having. So for us as a group, as a
coaching staff, we're gonna push them. We're gonna expect them
to compete every shift, every game, every practice.
Speaker 11 (40:16):
So we're looking for guys that don't want to take
a shift off.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Ever.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
You join the coaching staff of the Max Red and
Gold in the offseason. You had a great career in
the Western Hockey League. You were captain of Akkada University
and Atlantic University Sport arguably one of the best hockey
conferences in collegiate hockey, and you spend some time out
West with a fantastic program, the Notre Dame Hounds. All
that experience, what do you want to bring to this
(40:40):
MAX team? And what do you want to instill in
the players.
Speaker 11 (40:44):
Yeah, I just want to help anyway I can.
Speaker 12 (40:46):
Like I said, I think they got big expectations for themselves.
I've seen a lot of different teams, been a part
of a lot of different teams that have been successful
and not so successful. Just wanted them to understand what
kind of type of hockey we play all the way
across Canada and what kind of opponent they're gonna see
once they get down to the nitty gritty.
Speaker 11 (41:04):
And I hate to say it, but that starts now.
Speaker 12 (41:06):
So I'm bringing a different element to practice of competitive
nature and just the guys trying to push each other
and understand that we got to get better every day.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Someone that's played at the levels that you've done and
played the competition that you've played, I know that you've
been in a lot of pressure situations and had to
temper expectations.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
You mentioned expectations.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
For this team, arguably the odds on favorite to win
the Nova Scotia a team major hockey league, and also
win the Atlantics. A lot of hockey to play, But
how do you, as an individual and as a coaching
staff temper those expectations.
Speaker 12 (41:41):
We just take it day by day. Like I said earlier,
every day we show up at this rink, we put
our work boots on, and we get ready to put
our best effort in, whether that's practice, a game, a workout,
or a video session. We got to be attentive to details,
attentive to our work ethic, and just making sure that
we're getting a little bit better every day and we'll
see the progress throughout the season long.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
I just want to ask you quickly about each of
the programs and levels that you've been at. Let's go
back to your time in the Western Hockey League. I
know that you didn't play in the Quebec League, but
from what you've seen of the Quebec League, what would
you say the biggest difference is in the style of
play in the Quebec League, because that's what we see
down here in the Atlantic region versus what happens out
in the Western League.
Speaker 12 (42:22):
Yeah, it's actually a very common question we get, especially
as aus players coming this way. I'd say that the
Quebec League probably has a little bit more skill players,
high end skill players. You see that with like the
Hubert Oos and the Crosbys of the NHL.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
McKinnon and so forth.
Speaker 12 (42:37):
Oh, West, We're built on the nine to five, the grind,
putting in the work. You commonly you see us filling
out lineups, and to be honest, we believe that that's
what makes a great team is having three four lines
and we want to fill out those lineup and do
our job. So for us, O West, I'd say it's
a little bit more gritty, but that's just part of
who we are.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
I'll ask you about your time now Adikata University part
of the Atlantic University Sport Hockey Conference. I had a
nephew that played football at a Kadia. He was a
slot receiver and loved his time there. What's your favorite
memories about your time playing for a Kadia and wearing
the captain sea.
Speaker 12 (43:12):
Yeah, it's a great honor, a great privilege to be
a captain of such a great organization.
Speaker 11 (43:16):
But obviously spent five years there.
Speaker 12 (43:20):
Met my fiance there, so that was a great opportunity
and a great year for me.
Speaker 11 (43:24):
But probably the.
Speaker 12 (43:25):
Best of times are just hanging out with the guys.
I mean, when you spend three, four or five years
with a group of guys, you really become close. And
I got some friends there that I'll be friends with
for life, and I never thought I would even have
those connections that I do today. But I'm just very
fortunate to meet the people I've met and been where
I've been.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
And most recently a fantastic renowned program program out at
Notre Dame, the Notre Dame Hounds. What did you learn
from a coaching perspective out it Notre Dame that you
want to bring back here?
Speaker 11 (43:56):
Coaches got to develop too.
Speaker 12 (43:57):
It's not about just coming to the rink and expecting
to know it all. You got to take your opportunities
to do different coaching clinics, different skills camps, develop your
coaching style. Every coach is a little bit different and
what they're going to bring to a team, an atmosphere,
an organization. For myself, I kind of learned different aspects
as an assistant coach and a head coach in my
(44:19):
two years, so just really understanding what it's like to
be a coach for me in my first couple of years.
Was great to be there and be fully engraved in
such a great organization.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Before I let you go, I want to ask you
who have been a couple of really influential people in
your hockey life to this point, Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Have a lot.
Speaker 11 (44:38):
A good friend of mine who actually just recently passed away.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
It was Ronnie B.
Speaker 11 (44:41):
Shard.
Speaker 12 (44:41):
He's from my hometown, he played NCAA hockey and he's
just a fantastic guy. I was lucky enough to play
for him at under fifteen and kind of kept in
touch with them all along some other guys that just
giving me a chance in the Western Hockey League, like
Jason rip Langer, the general manager of the Mushah Warriors,
Darwin Bennett, head scout of the Portland Winterhawks. The list
(45:05):
really just goes on and on, and it'd be a
shame for me to leave someone out.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Last thing for you, what's something that you would like
the listers to know about the day to day grind
of being a coach.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
You gotta love it.
Speaker 12 (45:18):
What we do isn't always the most easy, most rewarding
part from the day to day, but if you love it,
that's the reward. Watching the kids get better, watching the
kids enjoy themselves.
Speaker 11 (45:29):
That's where you see the reward. Yeah.
Speaker 12 (45:33):
I enjoy showing up at the rink and putting my
skates on and having fun with the kids.
Speaker 11 (45:36):
And I hope they did too.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
All right, before I sign off with you here, go
ahead and give a shout out to anybody you want.
Speaker 12 (45:41):
Just want to say shout out to my family at
home in Saskatchewan, and of course my fiance who brought
me back to Nova Scotia.
Speaker 11 (45:48):
I thank her for giving me this opportunity to be
with the Max.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
From Saskatchewan to the Atlantic coast. Jack Flammon, thanks for
taking the time to do this. We wish you a
lot of luck for the rest of this night and
of course continued success throughout the season.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
Thank him.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
That's Jack Flammon. He's an assistant coach with the Halifax Max.
We appreciate him taking time to join us here in
the first dinner mission. So we'll step aside for a moment,
take a break. Szamboni just finishing up its job, and
then the Max and the Hunters will be back on
the ice for period number two. But after twenty minutes
it's the Max three and the Hunters no score, we'll
(46:21):
be back.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Apple Kiss two Pei honey crisp apples in every can,
fresh pressed apples, never from concentrate, without any artificial flavors
or preservatives.
Speaker 13 (46:35):
Try apple Kiss today.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
Welcome back to the Halifax Forum.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
Both teams just heading to their respective benches, getting ready
for period number two as the officials get the nets
back on the moorings. So big thank you again to
Jack Flamman, assistant coach for the Max, for joining us
here during that first generimission to have a chat. Some
interesting stuff from Coach Flamman, great addition to this MAX
coaching staff. So that kind of wrestling melee that happened
(47:03):
very early in the first period led to a couple
of ten minutemus conducts and some double minor for head
contacts as well. So I wondered with Schaeffer Gibbs. So
Gibbs I guess was given a two minute minor and
a ten minimus conduct.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Number twenty two.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Brandon Martin was given four minutes for head contact as
well as a ten minimis conduct. Jack's Guinnish was handed
a ten minute mis conduct as well. So quite a
few ten minute misconducts handed out. But as we begin
period number two, we are at full and even strength
and the March and Milco Hunters wearing their road black
(47:43):
with white trim, now skating left to right and they've
got a chance right away is off the opening face off,
Andrew Urkhart skated in and got a good shot on
goal and Chandler Bell flashes the glove head and holds on.
Speaker 4 (47:56):
So yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
The March and Milko Hunters again wearing their road blacks
with white trim. They're now skating left to right as
the teams have switched in for period too. The Halifax
Max wearing their familiar home whites with the gold and
red McDonald's colors, now skating my right to left, Liam
excuse me, Noah Pulkin goal for the March and Milco
(48:19):
Hunters and at the other end Chandler bellennet for the Max.
Speaker 4 (48:24):
Just underway here.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Thirty seconds into this second period, full and even strength.
SuDS carries the puck into the Hunter zone from the
left side, feeds it.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
In front a one timer. They score.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
SuDS down the left side, below the goal line, feathered
it right in front and right there to bang it
in with Sam Fleming. But the beautiful feed is what's
set it up off the initial rush from Gavin Sudds
just a pretty play and that's a lovely assist for
(48:56):
SuDS and I'm sure Sam Fleming is gonna thank them
app say, hey, that was a tap and beautiful setup.
So Sam Fleming has goal number four. It's his third
of the season and it's four nothing Max so a
goal in the first minute of play. Here in period
(49:16):
number two extends that Max lead. Not quite a minute
gone by. Here Max on the puck again, Well shits
the puck fed to him right in front and fanned
on the one time or as Bottomly got him the
puck in the slot.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Now here's a lead pass. This is Cluet breaking in.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
Cluet trying to break free, gets the shot away, Ree
badles loose and the Max able to clear it away.
A great rush by Justin Klewitt. He was just hitted
a little bit. Now bottomly right back the other way,
end to end we go jumping on that puck was
Noah Hawco. Hawco takes a shot and Bottomly is the
(49:56):
looks like going to be the player head to the
box and bottom li He's body language, I think is
kind of saying, hey, I didn't do anything. It certainly
wasn't on purpose. It was just in the flow of
what was going on in gameplay. But Hawco, who's had
a good game so far for the Hunters went down
to the ice immediately and gets up clutching his left
(50:17):
arm and he has gone straight to the bench helmet
off Hawco. Hopefully he's okay. We'll keep an eye on
number twelve for the Hunters. Noah Hawko, as I mentioned,
he's had a solid game thus far as Hawko. But
again he went down immediately and to the penalty box
for two minutes. I didn't see the call. I'm guessing
maybe a slash, but it's bottomly to the penalty box
(50:41):
and Hunters to the power play clue it now has
the puck lost the handle and clue it and the
Hunters will have to clear the zone and regroup back into.
Speaker 4 (50:50):
Their own zone.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
They'll work it up quickly on the stick of Swift
who gets across ice and Schaeffer Gibbs has served his
two minutes plus his ten minute, so number three for
the Hunters. The solid defender, Schaeffer Gibbs back out on
the ice max float that puck down bounces into pulk.
He'll just hold it there and set it up for
(51:10):
his teammate. One three to go in the penalty so
it is slashing to bottom lee Hunters on the power
play they'll work the puck back to the left point.
Speaker 4 (51:23):
Now clue it from the right side. Clue it.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
Turns his back to the defender, goes back to the point,
hum sends it down into the corner along the boards.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
It goes in behind the hunter's goal.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
Excuse me, the Max well and the Max able to
send it all the way down into the hunter's end
of the ice. Max changing up the penalty killer's hair
and they've got it in behind the goal.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
Love It was waiting for it in the slot.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
The puck came to him, but it went underneath a
stick and all the way down the ice and the Max.
We'll try again with SuDS on the penalty kill. Here
SuDS gains the hunter's zone, had the puck taken off
of his stick, trying to keep it in. There was
Cooper's strong for the Max. Thirty five seconds to go
in the power play for the hunters. Hunters trying to
(52:06):
get organized here take advantage of this last half minute
of power play time. Swift chops at it. Puck pops
up into the air. It'll come down onto the stick
of Ian Love it. Love it with a head of
steam now behind his own goal up the left wing side.
Look it love it flying down the left wing side,
feeds across. I stood strong and strong, try to slide
(52:26):
it toward the goal. But a Hunter's defender, believe that
was Liam McKnight, slid right across the ice and took
the chance away. Just a couple of ticks left now
and Bottomly back out on the ice.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
So the Max have killed it off and Kreelman.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
Gets a good shot away just as Bottomly steps out
of the penalty box and we're back to five skaters aside.
Here's Bootler now for the Max. Slides it across to
Kreelman from the left side.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
Top of the circle. Quick shot Pulk with Bottomly right
in his grill.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
Paulk makes the save as captain Kreelman got a great
shot away from that left circle and forced Paulk to
make a dandy glove save. So here in this second period,
Sam Fleming has his third of the season.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
And it's four nothing for the Max. Shots on goal
in that first period.
Speaker 3 (53:25):
I told you I would check the Max socials and
they had the graphic posted. So shots on goal in
period number one it was fourteen for the Max, nine
for the March and Milco Hunters. Off the face off
in the Hunter zone, scramble draw goes all the way
to the corner on that far side. Hunter's able to
get it up into neutral ice, but the Max jump
(53:47):
on it quickly.
Speaker 4 (53:47):
Here's Odell lost the puck to Martin.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
Martin one of those players that served a ten minute
misconduct back in the first period, so he'll be a
little extra fresh out there will number twenty two in black.
Jumping on the puck is Bootler. Bootler cuts into the middle.
Bootler gets a shot away in a nice left pad
save by Pulk Bottomly now onto the puck, but the
Hunters will grab it up ahead. This is Gibbs Shaefer.
(54:14):
Gibbs with speed, gets a good shot away off the
side of the goal. Then Gibbs gets dumped to the
ice and I think the captain of the Hunters, Shaeffer
Gibbs may have drawn a penalty here, have to wait
and see. But a good rush from Gibbs down that
left side, got a shot away, sharp angle it was,
but still never a bad idea to get that shot
(54:35):
on goal.
Speaker 4 (54:35):
And no, my.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Apologies, no power play coming here. I thought again, my
eyes doth deceive me.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
I thought again.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
I saw the referee signal a penalty, but we stay
five skaters aside. With fifteen thirty five to go in
period number two, face off in the magazine to the
right of Chandler bell Off the face off puck goes
off to the boards on the far side. Now in
a reverse direction and come over on this near side.
(55:05):
There's fleming from behind his own nets. Sends it over
there towards Will Shearer. Now it's back to the left point,
fired in quickly by Luke Murphy. Again if you're just
joining us. Murphy playing on defense wearing number sixteen. An
affiliate player up with the big club normally plays for
(55:25):
the Martello Buccaneers, but seeing his first ever game in
the Nova Scotia team Major Hockey League, as is his teammate,
an affiliate also up in his first game.
Speaker 4 (55:36):
He plays with the v So we've got.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
A Bucks player and a V's player coming in. There
was Count, that affiliate player from the VS that I
told you about. He had a great rush going into
the Mac zone and got hauled down and a MAX
player went sliding into the goal. Believe that was tree win,
but a good effort there by Number eighteen Brayden Count
(55:58):
so both affiliate players have afforded themselves well in the
ice time that they've seen number eighteen Braydon cown to
number sixteen Luke Murphy. So both teams get some fresh
legs out here and we'll have a face off in
the Max zone once again to the right of Chandler Bell.
Max win the face off. They'll take it off the boards.
(56:20):
Bottomly trying to catch up to what bottom Lely gets there,
but a nice job by Swift to tie Bottomly up
and not let him get a clear shot in toward
the goal. Puck sent high in the air that's going
to go all the way down into the mazone. Sudd's
hustling after it, Loody right after him. Now Sudds has
the puck come to him over on the far side,
(56:42):
taps it over to Liver who gets it up to Bottomly.
Bottomly on the left wing tried to jump around Bodrow,
but a nice job by Peyton Budrow to stay with
the puck. Now it comes to Bottomly, his shot from
the high slot hit a leg and the Max will
grab it with live rated front too.
Speaker 4 (56:58):
Will state score a bang bang play.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
I say that quite a bit with these Max, but
they're just so quick getting the puck from one stick
to the other, and that time it was Evan Liver
from just below the goal line feeding it in front
to River Welsh who was right on the doorstep and
bangs it in. So River Welsh has his second of
(57:23):
the game. And for Welsh that's number six on the year.
So the good offensive game and year for number eighteen,
River Welsh continues.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
River Welsh was the.
Speaker 3 (57:38):
Firm Foundation Media Radio Player of the Game after last
weekend's game that I called when the Max beat the
Steel suber U three to two on Welsh's short handed
goal and coming in now with a good chance there
was Will Shearer went off a stick and out of play.
So Tree win with one Fleming with one Sharer with one,
(58:00):
Welsh with two.
Speaker 4 (58:01):
You add it up.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
That's your five Max goals and they lead it five
to nothing, fourteen oh three to go in this second period.
I want to remind you coming up in intermission number two,
I'll have an interview with the commissioner of the Nova
Scotia team Major Hockey League, Travis Davis, So stick around
for that in the second intermission. Puck to the red
line Breen has to back up. Now he'll slide across ice,
(58:25):
bootlair back to Breen. Breen puts the head down, shoulders
churning as he chugs down ice. Tried to feed it
into the slot where cutting in was Haverstock, but it
was intercepted and the hunters will try to bring it
back the other way, and we're gonna have two minutes
for a holding here.
Speaker 4 (58:42):
It looks like as heading over to the penalty box
is number twelve, Sam Fleming. So Fleming.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Has himself a goal and now has himself a holding minor.
So Fleming into the box and the March and Milcow hunters.
We'll go to the power play with thirteen thirty seven
to go in this second period, face off in the
Max zone from the left of the goaltender Bell Max
(59:16):
clean face off Win trying to get it on that
buck was Nate Woodrow, but the Max will take it
and send it down the ice quickly. Good to see
that Hawko is back on the ice. He left earlier
after taking a hit from MJ. Bottomley of the Max,
a play that put Bottomley in the penalty box. And
(59:37):
when that play happened, Hawco went down immediately and got up,
favoring his left arm. He went to the bench, but
great to see number twelve for the hunters. Haco back
out and in the play and he's on the power
play here for the Hunters. Hawco skates it right up
the middle of the ice in his own end. Now
across the red line. Hawco tried to bring it forward,
(59:57):
but Sullivan stepped in the way, and the Max will
take over. Sullivan now trying to catch up to the puck.
He gets to it first. He's alone. He's got to
wait for some help. Sends it all the way back
to the red line. Bootlear will grab it there being
hounded by Nate Buodrow. Boodrow, you'll poke checking there from behind,
trying to hound the puck carrier, and the Max will
(01:00:19):
watch as Gibbs tries to control the Gibbs lost a handle.
The two number threes come together, love it for the Max,
Gibbs for the Hunters, and the Max will take it.
Now in neutral ice, the threes come together again as
Gibbs stepped in to love it and then love it
through the body in the Nate Budrow as the physicality
picks up just a little bit here in period number two,
(01:00:41):
exactly one minute left in the penalty to Sam Fleming,
twelve thirty seven to go in the period. Hunters would
dearly love a power play goal here and get on
the board. Loody will get ready for the face off
for the Hunters. He'll go up against Cooper's strong off
in the max zone and the Max control off the draw.
(01:01:04):
They'll send it all the way down the ice. That
was who's a Chuku getting it down there? Now, who's
a Chico? Watches as the Hunters will work it out.
Getting over the line there into the zone is Dawson Swift.
Hunters have it down low. Looty couldn't control it if
the goal line Swift big shot from the point they score.
(01:01:26):
Swift from the left point walked in, took a big
shot and it hit a couple.
Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
Of things in front.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
I'm not sure who might have touched it or reflected it,
because the puck slowed down considerably and then it just
ends up trickling in behind the goaltender bell and first
down the line is the man who took.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
The shot, Dawson Swift.
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
So it looks like if it did hit anybody, which
it looked like it did it must have just been
Max players. And again he typically first down the line
is who's gonna be credited with the goal, And in
this particular instance, it was Dawson Swift, the defenseman for
the Hunters, who took that point shot from the left side.
And again it just hit a few I'm guessing bodies
(01:02:09):
in front, and it just the puck visibly slowed and
then just slowly goes in behind the goaltender. Bell and
Swift say it all the time, never a bad idea
to put the puck on goal.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
Good things can happen, and something good happened.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
There a power play goal for the Hunters and they're
on the board. So it looks like Dawson Swift has
his fourth of the year. So they're announcing the goal
(01:02:52):
now again just trying to decipher the echoey speakers they
are at the forum. But again based on who went
down the line, I believe it's Dawson Swift gonna get
credit for the goal, and I believe assists went to
Loody and Gibbs. So the Hunter's on the board with
(01:03:16):
the power play goal. Now, see if that's something they
can build on. Still over half a game left to
play here back to five five skaters aside even strength hockey. Here,
SuDS from the left point, just inside the blue line
sent it in. It went off of skate uphie into
the air and the Max can't keep it in.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
SuDS has to retreat now to the red line for
the Max.
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
SuDS gets it back now as he back pedals into
his own zone, SuDS slides it across to the captain Creelman.
Creelman under some four check pressure there from Justin Klewitt,
and Creelman will get it in behind his own goal.
Cluit still chasing on the four check here now Bellevo
tried to stop Creelman, but Creelman going coast to coast here,
(01:04:00):
tried to drop that puck and it'll go in behind
the goal and mackay and after it for Halifax. McKay
being challenged there, puck still down low Strong tried to
work it out. Now it's up into the air. Bootler
has the puck over his stick and it'll come back
into neutral ice. Bootleer being watched closely by count. Now
(01:04:20):
Bootleer down the right side which speed, takes a quick
shot and he lays it over top of the goal.
Good rush though by the Max now Welsh. Welsh has
a couple of goals tonight. He slides it over to Bootler.
Bootler again gains the zone. He watches as the puck
goes into the corner. Liam Worth comes over to take
a look for the march and Milco Hunters. Now Welsh
(01:04:42):
again into neutral ice. We'll take a little drop pass
from Breen now River Welsh on hat trick watch is
number eighteen for the Max. River Welsh gets inside the zone.
Try to feed it over, but Looty intercepts. Loudy tried
to spring his teammate Nate Boudrou, but that was bro
look it up by Welsh. Good job there defensively by
(01:05:03):
Welsh in his own zone. Now the puck over on
the board's far side. Bottomly, try to settle it. It'll
come back to the left point. Sending it down lowe
was Murphy four hunters falling his green behind his own net.
That'll allow the Hunters to pick up that puck. Puck
toward the goal there as sending it in was Looty.
Now hum from the right point, floated in toward the net.
(01:05:26):
Good pressure here from the Hunters. Puck still in the magzone.
It'll go in behind now bootleer can't get it away
from Loody five five on five skaters here, even straight hockey.
But good pressure from the Hunters as they had some
prolonged offensive zone time in the max end of the ice,
(01:05:47):
but nothing comes of it. Good chances, but it remains
five to one, nine ten left to go. In period
number two, we're at the media timeout.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Apple kiss two pei honey crisp apples in every can,
fresh pressed apples, never from concentrate, without any artificial flavors
or preservatives. Try apple kiss today.
Speaker 6 (01:06:11):

Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
Nine ten to go.
Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Second period face off will be down in the maxone.
Some good pressure the last minute or so from the Hunters.
They've felt a little bit of energy, I think after
that Dawson's swift goal and a quick shot off the
face off as it came right in from that right
circle and Chandler Bell had to be sharp and makes
the save. So another face off now is just a
(01:07:02):
couple of seconds came off the clock once again, the
face off will be to the left of Bell. Jack
Bald went in on the face off. He goes up
against Number sixteen will share it and it's the Max
who control. Haverstock gets it into neutral ice and sending
it right back into the Mac zone. Is Liam McKnight
(01:07:24):
for the Hunters. Here is Share now making a couple
of nice moves past some Hunters defenders. Share into the
zone gives it off for Haverstock. Haverstock took it off
the toe of escape and the puck will go in
behind the Hunter's goal without the far side fit into
the middle. Haverstock intercepts, sends it back in and then
the play whistled down. I think they're gonna say that
(01:07:46):
the Max were offside, so the face off will come
outside the Hunter's zone, or at least I think it
will eight forty one to go. Here in the second
period of play, it's a five I nothing score Halifax
Max on whome ice with the lead. When I thought
(01:08:06):
I heard one of the officials say offside. Maybe it
was a high stick, but the face off is actually
inside the hunter's zone and it'll be to the left
of Noah Pulk in the Hunter's net scramble face off,
puck goes over to the board, Schaeffer Gibbs trying to
move it. Gibbs now gives a big shove and a
face wash to Shearer and Plague carries on backhanding it
(01:08:29):
along the wall.
Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
Was boundrou Peyton Bundreau for the Hunters.
Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Puck goes out toward neutral ized Haverstock sends it right
back in. Max clear the zone, get right back in
after the puck. Body's flying here. With eight seventeen to
go in the period, there's a point shot from the
right side and a stick saved from Pulk. Puck down
below the goal line, Max trying to get control of
it down there, watching the puck go to the other
(01:08:54):
side are of the Max now when it's picked up
by Braden Martin. Martin gets it back pushing it up
ahead was Cameron r.
Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
Kart and Pat's will still down on Now that is
an offside for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Down to seven fifty six left to play.
Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
Been a pretty fast.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
Pace for the majority of this game been some good
physical play as well a little bit of extracurricular temper
flaring stuff, but nothing to major. Under eight minutes to play,
as Tick times away in period number two, sending it
into the zone is count for the Hunters. Kreelman now
(01:09:39):
pins that puck along the boards, sends it in behind
his own net, where it's picked up by SuDS. SuDS
weaves in front of his own goal and skates the
puck into neutral ice for the Max. SuDS sends it
down into the zone. Sullivan bangs into the defenseman Worth
as those two players met up, and the puck pop free.
(01:10:00):
Max trying to get on that puck as it floats
through the slot over to the boards on the near side.
Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
SuDS tried to work.
Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
It into the middle for the Max, but it's picked
up by Kluit clew it down the left side. Heading
toward the front of the goal was count Cluit tried
to get clowned the puck, but Cound was tied up
and couldn't settle it. Down to seven oh five to
go in this second period, Max continued to lead it
five to one. Worth flips it down into the mazone
(01:10:31):
Worth will go off for a change along with Cound
and Bellevo. So a couple of fresh skaters on the
ice air for the hunters as the Max bring it
out with Huzachuko. Uzachuko pushed his man that was loody
and then jumping on it quickly there was murphy for
the hunters and the hunters get into the zone.
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
There's right in front.
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
The puck was slid in and meeting it was loody
and just couldn't get good wood on it, and the
puck went in behind the net. But another good quick
transition play there from the hunter. Ludy again slides it over.
Now as the hunters will gain the red line and
send it down into the zone, SuDS backhands it from
behind his own net. Kreelman meets it on the far side,
(01:11:11):
sends it up and it tiptoes along the top of
the glass and then the puck eventually goes out of
play into the hunter's bench and that's where the backup
goaltender Cole the O'Shaughnessy picked it up and tossed it
back so O'Shaughnessy backing up Pulk Tonight and on the
other side Kale Campbell backing up Chandler Bell. The Halifax
(01:11:35):
Max go with a rotating two goalie system, and according
to their coaching staff, that's pretty much the plan all
year long. Both Chandler Bell and Kale Campbell have each
played three games and each have a three to zero record.
Puck in the Hunter's zone, there's Breen from just inside
the blue line, just directed it toward the net with
a couple of skaters heading right in front of Worth
(01:11:57):
and excuse me, in front of Noah. Pulk and Pulp
did a good job of just seeing the puck and
grabbing it, not giving any Max player a chance to
do anything with a loose puck in front of the net.
Scott Squire's with you on the firm Foundation Media Radio Network.
Glad to have you here tuning in whatever device you're
tuning in and listening on. Great to have you along
(01:12:19):
for this game from the Halifax Forum. Five point fifty
to go. In the second Max have the five to
one lead. There's Budrow floating it in and Peyton. Budrow
put it in, Bell held it for a second and
then hands it off to his teammates and the Max
will send it down the ice McKay and after that
puck no icing, McKay now has it below the goal line,
(01:12:41):
skates it over into the corner. He takes a nudge
for his troubles from Gibbs. Now McKay skates it off
the board, slides it over to Bootler on that right point.
Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
Bootlear rattles it along the dasherboards.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Max tried to feed it out in front, only black
sweater's there, but getting it quickly was McKay who grabbed it.
McKay did a good job of staying with that puck
turn fired a shot wide. There's another shot from the
board's right side as Bootler let it go and paulk
had to make a pass save and then the puck
goes out of play. Now down to five oh six
(01:13:15):
left to play.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
Again.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
Just a reminder in the second intermission, I'll be joined
by Travis Davis. Travis is the commissioner of the Nova
SCOTIAUA teen Major Hockey League. So we'll talk to Travis
about what exactly entails being the commissioner of the league.
Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
That's coming up in the second intermission.
Speaker 3 (01:13:35):
Off the face off, Max control, puck goes down low.
Welsh couldn't stop it. There and Hunters now will try
to work it out, and they do. Pass goes up
towards Mason Morris and neutral ice, and the Max will
gather in their own zone with Guinnish. Guinnish slides it
over to Tree Win Tree when opened up the scoring
in this game. Now Tree Whin has some open ice
(01:13:56):
down the left side, feeds it into the slot. Nifty
little backhand pass there, trying to connect with Welsh, but
Welsh was tied up. Welsh has the puck back from
the high slot, sent a rich shot over the goal.
Liver sends it back in front. Welsh has it again.
Want to move by Welsh spinning in the high slot
in front. Bottomly was there and got a backhander away
and Pulk just got a piece this line for the
(01:14:17):
Max live Bottomly and.
Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
The rest of his mates, including number eighteen River Welsh
with two goals buzzing. Here comes a defenseman Guinnish now
not shy about rushing.
Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
A Guinish in front backhander. Big save Pulk, great rush
from the defender. Jack's Ginnish. Guinish steals it again, takes
a shot and lifts it high and wide. Now Liver
in the corner takes a bump, stays on the puck,
tried to fate feet excuse me, a cutting guinish and
that ends up going into the goaltender and holding on.
(01:14:49):
But my goodness, Welsh Bottomly and Live the forward line
were just like whirling dervishes, spinning around, reeking all all
kinds of havoc on the March and Milkow Hunters. And
then you throw in the mobile defenseman Jack's ginnish. All
kinds of headaches on that last shift for the March
(01:15:10):
and Milkow Hunters, but it stays five to one. That's
that relentlessness that I've mentioned with this Max team. Shift
after shift, they just come at you in waves three
point thirty seven to go. There's a chance. As Haverstock
was fed the puck is shearer from below the goal line,
feather it out in front. Now the puck along the
(01:15:32):
board's over on the far side, meeting of the mines
over there, three Max two Hunters players. It comes free
remy Bellevo, try to work it along. It comes to
the near side, taking a look there was couned, and
it'll go all the way back into the Hunters.
Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
Zone where Murphy we'll have it there.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
Murphy sends it up towards Swift, but it'll go down
into the mac zone where SuDS will gather it there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
Halifax Kreelman sends it off the board.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
It went just behind Shearer and Cluet will jump on
that puck. Cound heading toward the front of the goal,
but Clue couldn't get to it and couldn't feed him.
Clu It puts that puck in Remy Bellobo had it
bounce off his skate up into the air.
Speaker 4 (01:16:14):
Here's count Now.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Nice moves by Cown, Oh, the affiliate with a great chance,
making pretty moves in the zone, cutting in toward the
slot and getting a great shot away and having a
couple of words. Now I'm sure kind of the variety
of gee whiz, Chandler Bell, did you have this?
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Stone me?
Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
It's my first game ever in the Nova Scotia U
eighteen hockeyley. Wouldn't that have been something if Braden Cound
had a score there?
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
But listen, Braden, my friend, that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
Was a dynamic move to take that puck and get
yourself open to get that point shot away.
Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
Here's another chance from the slot letting it go.
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
Was Nate Buodrow and Chandler Bell again with a lovely save,
and I mentioned this to the coaching staff pregame. One
of the things that's impressed me about watching Chandler Bell
the goalie for the Max. He can go long stretches
without any action or seeing a puck towards him at all,
and then all of a sudden he'll have three or
(01:17:16):
four great scoring chances, and he's as sharp as if
he's been facing forty shots. So that's a good trade
if you're a goaltender, to be able to stay sharp
through the downtimes and then rise to the occasion when
you're called upon. Now Here comes who's a chunko trying
to get a shot down that left side. Good defensive
play there by Schaeffer Gibbs tying up Uzachuku. Two fifteen
(01:17:39):
to go in the period, Gloody takes a bump from
Sullivan and love it. Now we'll bang it off the
boards in behind his own goal and the Max will
look to get it out. Lead passed for Sullivan went
off the heel of his stick. Sullivan chases after it, though,
feeling some pressure from Noah Haco Putt flipping end over end,
(01:18:00):
goes out over the red line picked up there by Erkhart.
That's number ten Andrew Urkhart. Now it goes to the boards. Uzachuco,
we'll just backhand it down the ice, Peyton Boudreau, we'll
get it there. Just ahead of number three Etan Love
it comes.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Who's a Chuco in the one chance two chance down
is Paulkin.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
He keeps it out. Who's a Chuco? Had a couple
of whacks at it. Back the other way, trying to
get a chance in there was Baldwin as the hunters
came right back in transition action had both ends bottomly
trying to go one on three got stood up just
inside the hunter zone. One thirteen to go in this
(01:18:42):
second period, as the pace picks up. Now back the
other way, this is Liam McKnight. McKnight one on three
takes the shot and that goes up into the netting
above where the zam Boney comes onto the ice to
do it. Thing so good pace here, certainly in the
last couple minutes chances at both ends, and again I
(01:19:04):
just go back to that chance. It was a great
play and a nice move there by the affiliate player
from the v's Braydon cowned he did everything but score.
He was point plank with the goaltender Bell, and Bell
made a great save to stone the affiliate player count.
Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
Inside the final sixty seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Here of period number two, and then the score remains
Max five Hunters won. Max scored three times in the
first they've scored two more here in the second, and
then answering for Hunters was number five Dawson Swift.
Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
So that's your five to one score.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Face off in the Max zone to the right of Bell,
off the draw, Maxwell control and they'll come out two
on two McKay with Strong Strong.
Speaker 4 (01:19:54):
Over to McKay. They score.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
Down the right side came Cooper Strong and lowering his
head and chugging down toward the net was number twenty
three Nate McKay and McKay fit a beautiful pass from
Strong and McKay taps it in the back of the
goal a five foot putt four McKay and the Max
(01:20:18):
on the board one more time as Nate McKay has
his first of the night, his second of the season,
and it's six to one for the Halifax Max.
Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
Just forty five seconds to.
Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
Go in this second period, So a goal for the
Max inside the final minute pucked down into the hunter zone.
They'll send it out and now giving chases Gavin Sudds
SuDS being watched by Braden Martin, and now Kreleman will
just feed it up ahead for Strong Cooper Strong sends
it over to the goal scorer the last goal scored
(01:20:54):
by McKay. McKay gets it, sends it down and McKay
will go off for a change. Just seventeen seconds go
in the second period, here comes their card, Lucky thirteen
camera in her card into his own quick shot from
distance was about three feet off the ice and right
into the catching glove of the goaltender Chandler Bell. So
(01:21:17):
down to just nine seconds to go in the second period.
Again a reminder in the second mission, I'll speak with
Nova Scotia UA T Major Hockey League Commissioner Travis Davis.
Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
Stick around for that and have a listen off the
face off.
Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
Max will just curling shot it into neutral ice and
then down into the hunter's zone and his Haverstock and
Gibbs exchange a few words here. The buzzer sounds to
end period number two, so the officials will get the
team separated and sort that out. So the two teams
(01:22:01):
will head to their respective dressing rooms and we'll have
the second intermission upcoming. The Zamboni will come out do
its thing. I'll step aside for a moment, but shortly
I'll have a chat with Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey
League Commissioner Travis Davis. I'll have that for you in
just a couple of minutes, but for now, I'll step
(01:22:21):
aside for just a moment. After two periods, the Halifax
Max on home ice had a six one lead over
the visitors, the March and Milk Cole Hunters. You're listening
to the Firm Foundation Media Radio Network from the Halifax Forum.
Speaker 5 (01:22:34):
We'll be back Workwater, a clean energy drink using natural flavors,
sparkling water and natural caffeine the Boost without the chemicals.
Speaker 6 (01:22:45):
Workwater made in New Brunswick.
Speaker 10 (01:22:49):
You're listening to the Nova Scotia U eighteen Major Hockey
League on FFM Radio. Let's get back to the rink.
Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
Welcome back to the Halifax Forum or After two periods
of play, the home sidex Max have a six to
one lead over the visitors, the March and Milco Hunters.
Very pleased to be joined now by Travis Davis. Travis
is the commissioner of the Nova Scotia U eighteen at
Major Hockey League. Travis, thanks for taking a couple of
minutes to join us here at the intermission. I guess
the first question is what exactly is the role of
(01:23:19):
the commissioner. What's your day to day like?
Speaker 14 (01:23:22):
Thanks for having me, Scott. Basically, I deal with the
referees and all the reports that come through from them
for suspensions and any disciplinary actions that we need to take.
Speaker 4 (01:23:33):
For the Lake.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
I know you'll hear about something that comes out of
a game, whether it's a suspension or whatever the case
may be, and you hear about that as a fan,
but a.
Speaker 4 (01:23:44):
Lot of times you don't know what the mechanics of
that is.
Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
So let's just say, for argument's sake, there was some
kind of incident tonight that required further review from you
and the league. What's kind of the mechanism that gets
it in front of you, and then what's the process.
Speaker 14 (01:24:00):
So basically, any incident that happens, we receive write ups
from the referees, and what we do is we reference
our code of discipline right on our U eighteen Nova
Scotia website, and anyone that need. Anyone can go look
at that Code of Discipline and see how we gauge
suspensions there, and we take the referees word and the
(01:24:25):
write up that's put into us, we review it. We
look at the Code of Discipline, cross reference it and
select the amount of number of games that we need to. Basically,
a major factor is the way the referees got the
incident written up and whether you're a repeat offender or not,
and the severity of the incident.
Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
Never an easy job to be an official in any sport,
in hockey no different. You have experienced you were an
official once upon a time yourself. How does that experience
that you have being an official once upon all the
time help.
Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
You in this role with the league? I think it's great.
Speaker 14 (01:25:06):
I've refereed with a lot of great officials growing up
and even to this day still involve linsing junior A
and referring a lot of minor hockey right up to
the major Banham or high school level, and learning from
those guys and how they referee games and call penalties
is something that I take pride in learning from those guys.
(01:25:31):
You got to remember, though, a lot of these kids
refereeing in this league. Not only is it a showcase
for the players in this league, but it's a showcase
for our great young officials coming up through the system.
Because not only are the players going on to bigger
and better things.
Speaker 13 (01:25:46):
The officials are as well. So we have to support.
Speaker 14 (01:25:49):
Them and give them the tools they need to be
successful as well.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
And that's a really good point.
Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
And my understanding is is that there's something that happened
in the offseason with the jerseys for the officials. Is
there something that you can give the listeners on that.
Speaker 14 (01:26:06):
Well, last year they implement it that the referees had
new jerseys here for this leg, which looked great, but
we didn't have linesman jerseys, and they agreed that this
year they would have referee and linesman jerseys, and tonight's
the first night that both referee and linesmen have their
jerseys on out there, and by the looks of it,
(01:26:26):
it looks amazing and we're probably one of the most
professional looking crews in Atlanta, Canada.
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
And to pick up on that, you raise a really
good point about this Nova Scotia Weight Team Hockey League
being a really professional organization. You look at the quality
of the teams, the amount of players that go on
and play at other levels. I attended the media day
recently at the Raft EastLink Center in Truro, players getting
interviews and getting all kinds of different content for social media.
(01:26:56):
You mentioned the referee and the lines people jerseys, the
league implementing media timeouts this year. How exciting is it
right now to be a part of this league and
to be a part of some of the initiatives that
are happening.
Speaker 14 (01:27:10):
Oh, it's very exciting, Scott. When I was approached by
Paul Graham to be a part of this league, I
couldn't have been happier to step into this position, taking
over for Jamie mcaac who's done it for the last
five years.
Speaker 13 (01:27:23):
And I know the U eighteen League's so thankful for
the job he's done.
Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
He was great.
Speaker 13 (01:27:29):
It's just this league's moving in such a great direction.
Speaker 14 (01:27:32):
I grew up playing hockey in Cumberland County and even since,
even in the last ten years, this league has come
so far.
Speaker 13 (01:27:39):
The media day the other day was amazing in Truro.
Speaker 14 (01:27:42):
The amount of professionalism from Justin over High Button Sports
and his staff doing an incredible job on the ice
and off the ice, with all these videos that are
going to come out.
Speaker 13 (01:27:52):
On social media.
Speaker 14 (01:27:54):
It's just given these players an opportunity to see what's
to come when they get to the next level. And
with the media timeouts during the games, it gives teams
an awesome chance to put more sponsorship out there and
get some more.
Speaker 13 (01:28:09):
Media that way. And it's just great. It's great to
be a part of and I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
To keep going.
Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
Final thing for you, Travis, you know you have refereed.
You now have this capacity as commissioner of the league.
You get to watch the games. You get to see
these players play. For someone that maybe has never seen
a Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League game up close
and personal, what would you want to tell them to
encourage them to get out to a local rink and
watch one of the eight teams that are part of
(01:28:36):
this league.
Speaker 14 (01:28:37):
I would say anyone that hasn't been out to a game,
get out to a game. I hadn't been to one
in probably four or five years. As a spectator, I've
lines a few. I tended the Subaru Picto game on
Sunday and Picto and it was a great game, three
to two for Picto and fast.
Speaker 13 (01:28:58):
These kids can play.
Speaker 14 (01:29:01):
We got some of the best kids in Atlantic Canada
playing hockey in this legue and that's what we're trying
to strive to be and keep them here and move
on to the next level.
Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
I agree one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
I say at each broadcast I encourage anyone that's never
been to a game to get out and see one.
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
And if you have been to a games, keep doing it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
You're seeing some great hockey and you're seeing some future
stars at other levels. Well listen, Travis, we appreciate your time,
thanks for doing this, and we wish you continued success
with your role with the Nova Scotia Team Major Hockey
League as commissioner.
Speaker 13 (01:29:35):
No problem, Thanks for having me, Scott, been a pleasure.
Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
That is Travis Davis.
Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
He's the commissioner of the Nova Scotia Team Major Hockey League.
We really appreciate him taking a few minutes to join
us here on the broadcast.
Speaker 4 (01:29:45):
We'll step aside another quick break.
Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
The Zamboni almost done after forty minutes, Max six Hunters
won back in just a bit.
Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
Apple kiss two pei honey crisp apples in every can
fresh press apples never from concentrate without any artificial flavors
or preservatives.
Speaker 13 (01:30:05):
Try apple kiss.
Speaker 10 (01:30:07):
Today you're listening to the Nova Scotia you eighteen Major
Hockey League on FFM Radio. Let's get back to the rink.
Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Welcome back to the Halifax Forum. Both teams filing on
to their respective benches, officials putting the nets back on
the mornings, and we're just about set for period number three.
A big thank you again to Travis Davis, the commissioner
of the Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League, for stopping
by for a chat in that second I mission. Some
interesting stuff from Commissioner Davis. We appreciate again the time
(01:30:40):
I learned a little something. Hope you did as well.
So both teams again have switched sides. We start this
third period at full and even strength. The Max in
their home whites with McDonald's golden red now skating left
to right. As we begin period number three, the Hunters
in their road black with white now skating right to left.
There's Gibbs with a point shot from the left side.
(01:31:03):
Rebound chance in front and it's sent wide of the goal.
A little pressure from the Hunters right off the opening
face off, there's another chance, pucking tight, trying to jam
in at the side of the goal was Loody and
the Max. We'll transition back the other way now with
River Welsh.
Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
Welsh has two down the right side, creel them in
toward the front of the goal.
Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
Welsh feeds it out in front a couple of Max there,
including Liver, and now Welsh has it again. Welsh, Liver
and Bottomly have been buzzing all game long. They're on
the ice now here. Sun's walking into a shot from
the high slot back. It goes to Liver who took
a shot and the goaltender Pulk just got a piece
(01:31:41):
and the Max trying to grab that puck again. Hunters
tried to send it out of the zone. It's flipped
in toward the Hunter's goal and the Max making a
change now and that'll allow the Hunters to get the
puck down the ice to relieve some of that Max pressure.
Speaker 4 (01:31:57):
Just underway.
Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
Here a minute and seven seconds into this third period,
here's who's a Chuco with a shot, nice pad save
by Pulk. As here's a Chico took the shot from
the right circle. Now the puck down low taking a
big hit. There was love it in his own end
and the puck will come down into the magzone. Breen,
we'll pick it up there right in front of Jack
(01:32:19):
Baldwin for the Hunters. Now, who's a Chuico trying to
bull his way past his man, who's a Chico into
the zone, tried to chop the puck over towards Sullivan.
Sullivan was tied up, and the puck goes into the
corner puck in the Hunter's end of the ice. Coming
up on two minutes played in this third period, Max
with the six to one lead. The Max scored three
(01:32:40):
in the first three in the second and I did
confirm that it was indeed Dawson Swift who got credit
for that Hunter's goal with his point shot. Now the
Hunter's with the puck, Braden Martin with some speed, Martin
gains the red line. Martin doing a little stick handling,
tried to slip it over there to his teammate Baldwin,
but that's broken up and quickly right back the other
(01:33:01):
way come Sharer. Sharer and it tries to get into
the middle. Couldn't jump between the two Hunters defenders. Good
effort there from number sixteen Will Sharer and the puck
goes back to the left point. That point shot was
blocked down by the Hunters, and they'll send it out
now with Remy Bellevo. Bellevo sends it down into the
mazone and the Max will watch as the puck goes all
(01:33:23):
the way around the boards and Hum, we'll pick it
up in his own end for the hunters. Joseph, excuse
me this number nineteen Sebastian Hum. Now it goes down
into the mazone tree Win. We'll stop it below the
goal line and send it up the boards. Now it's
a foot race. Hum against Fleming. Coming over to help
(01:33:43):
out was number three Schaeffer Gibbs, and Gibbs has the
puck now down below the goal line.
Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
Turned over. There's a chance right in front. Wa save
by Pulk.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
In the slot Nash Haverstock had the puck come to
him from about nineteen feet in front of the goal,
got a quick shot away and Noah Pulk. Great save,
keeps the puck out, keeps the score six to one.
Great save by Pulk. I've seen Pulk play a couple
of times now and he's had moments where he's really
(01:34:18):
made some ten bell saves. Don't let his numbers fool you.
Come into this one. The action that I've seen him
playing a couple of games. He's been under siege and
he's been also under pressure, and he's been calm, cool
and collected. That shot hit the post. Hunters with a
big rush down the right side. I believe it was
Morris took the shot and it rang off the post
(01:34:40):
on the near side of the blocker side of the goaltender.
Bell on it again is Morris tried to feed it
in front there to Gibbs. Good work by Mason Morris.
Now down Lowitz camer nrkart off the boards.
Speaker 4 (01:34:52):
It goes.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
Now it's the Hunters with some pressure. Sixteen twenty two
to go in the third cross ice past the cluet.
He walks into it from the left circle. He was
in deep and lifted it over the net down to
sixteen twelve to go. Here's cluet. Now one on four clue.
It gets past Sud's clue. It takes it down behind
(01:35:13):
and it tried to feed it out in front. Mason
Morris was waiting for it and it couldn't get to
him cleanly. Now the Max lifted down the ice liver
in on a quickly in a shot from liver as
he cut off to the left side and Pulk again
with that nifty glove hand, grabs it and makes the save.
Speaker 4 (01:35:35):
Shots on goal in that second period.
Speaker 3 (01:35:39):
To bring you up to date, Hunters had ten shots
for a two period of total of nineteen and also
with ten shots in the second period of the Max
and their two period total twenty four. Big thank you
to the Halifax Max social team, the edmins, Cliff and
Shila for posting those numbers so that if I could
(01:35:59):
take a quick pick, a quick peek, I should say
it my social accounts.
Speaker 4 (01:36:03):
There's a shot. Is Swift bidding for goal number two?
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Took a point shot just inside the blue line on
the left point side and it was into the bread
basket of the goaltender belt And we'll have a face
off now with fifteen thirty four to go. Face off
(01:36:26):
will be in the Mac zone to the right of
Chandler belt. Off the face off, Puck will get past
Swift at the point and they'll have to chase it
all the way back towards his own zone. Puck was
turned over jumping on it with Sullivan, but his mates
who's a chucku and Welsh excuse me, Shearer, we're off side,
(01:36:51):
so Sullivan, who's a Chuico out there part of the
forward line along with Shearer and bootleer back defensively for
the Max. But it's the Hunters who win the face off.
Worth got it up into neutral ice, but Suer flips
it right back into the hunter's zone. Hunters will take
(01:37:13):
it off the glass and Bootler on the right point
try to keep it in, but it just hopped out
over the blue line and when Bootler pushed it back
in and his mates are offside and we get the
whistle face off just outside the hunter's zone. Fifteen seventeen
to go. Now, as this third period ticks away, face
(01:37:36):
off win four Hunters and they'll send it down the ice.
Taking a hit there was Baldwin, but the puck goes down.
There's a nice pass out front as clue it fed
Martin and Martin got a nice one timer away and
Chandler Bell answers the call there. But that was just
a lovely set up. Clue it to Martin. Martin right
(01:37:59):
on the door. Stone deflected it quickly towards Bell, who
makes a nice save. Face off win again for Hunters.
Haco from the left point steps into his man through
a bit of an elbow, and that's gonna draw a penalty.
So the arm is up and they're gonna say head contact. Actually,
(01:38:19):
so Haco was kind of reaching a little bit for
the max player and when he made contact, the referee's.
Speaker 4 (01:38:26):
Arm went up right away.
Speaker 3 (01:38:27):
So Noah hawco defenseman for the Hunters, slams the penalty
box door and he'll cool his jets for two minutes
or less. He looks like we're gonna have another penalty
as well. I'm not sure what the call is on Fleming,
so Fleming to the penalty box. So it looks like
(01:38:49):
we're gonna have offsetting penalties here and the we'll see
what the skating situation is one for. So there's Fleming
is in the box for Halifax, but Halifax still has
five skaters and so do the Hunters. Okay, I didn't
(01:39:11):
see the fifth skater for the Hunters initially, but it
is five on five, so it's offsetting penalties, so no
power play. We just play on five A side. There's
Gibbs now the captain. The Hunter's try to work it
forward live or intercepts. Liver's pass was picked off by
Cluet Now Cluet skates past the puck Sullivan and in
(01:39:31):
the zone. Sullivan had a stick tied up, couldn't get
a shot away. Now back with some speed the other
way comes Gibbs. Gibbs lost it at the blue line.
Martin follows up backhands and into the zone. Sullivan stepped
into Martin as those two players met briefly. Now the
Max will bring it out. That puck from Guinnish goes
(01:39:51):
just by Sullivan. Now the puck is at the red line.
Haverstock picks it up. He'll work it back to Tree.
When Tree win sends it down the ice, it beyond
Liver and down into the hunter zone.
Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
It goes. We're playing even.
Speaker 3 (01:40:06):
Strength here with fourteen minutes to go in this third
period of play.
Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
There's a quick shot.
Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
Liver got it away as he went down to the ice,
spinning around like a spin top. Liver has it download
try to feed McKay who was just outside the top
of the blue ice. Liver again had the puck come
to him, but a little too much pace. It went
off the blade of a stick and onto the stick
of Kluet, who's flying down the ice. But his mates
were offside, so we'll have a whistle and of stoppage
(01:40:33):
with thirteen forty two to go, Liver going to the bench,
slamming shut.
Speaker 4 (01:40:42):
The bench door.
Speaker 3 (01:40:44):
I think he's not happy with not being able to
get a clean shot away on that last opportunity he
had moments ago where he got spun around from the
face off. It's a scramble draw. Hum chops at the
puck for hunters and it's Creelman who'll pick it up up.
He lifts it up towards Strong. Strong tried to go
back to Creelman, but that was broken up by the
(01:41:05):
hunter skating after it now is couned. He watches as
Creelman picks it up by the red line. Creelman gobbles
up the puck again, goes back to Sudds. SuDS pushes
it ahead to the red line.
Speaker 4 (01:41:17):
McKay has it there. McKay flips it.
Speaker 3 (01:41:19):
Down into the zone he'll chase after it again comes
back towards Creelman. It went off his shitt pads just
inside the blue line. Hunters will pick it up now
working forward with it as McKnight. McKnight slides it over
there to cound. Couned gets caught in a crowd and
the puck is picked up by the Max Kreelman, being
(01:41:39):
watched by couned. Creelman gets it the love it, love it,
turns with some speed in front of his own goal,
heads up ice across the red line.
Speaker 4 (01:41:48):
Quick shot there, letting it fly.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
Was love it and the Max on the puck from
the left point SuDS takes a shot and flashing the catching.
Speaker 4 (01:41:57):
Glove is the goaltender Bulk and which is it? In
mid air?
Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
And we'll hold it and we'll have a face off
as both teams get some fresh legs out there. Twelve
thirty eight to go in the third. It continues to
be six to one lead for the home side, Halifax
Max Max with three in the first, three in the second,
Hunters with one in the second.
Speaker 4 (01:42:21):
Nothing so far here for either side.
Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
In period number three, from the face off, Bottomly cuts
toward the middle. His shot when off the stick and
over the net. Welsh gets on it quickly back to Breen.
Breen dumps it down low, turning with it. There is
Sharer who got a shot away with Bottomly heading right
toward the front of the goal, and Pulk again holds
on down to twelve twenty four left. Third period face
(01:42:48):
off again to the right of Pulk in the Hunter zone.
From the face off puck is loose. Both teams trying
to get control of it here and it's the Hunters
who will bring it out with Cluet Clue it's had
himself a good game.
Speaker 4 (01:43:01):
Cuts to the middle, Clue. It gets a shot away.
Speaker 3 (01:43:04):
And it went off the blade of a stick, and
as the puck went up behind the goal Clue it
got dumped down to the ice and the puck sent
down the ice. That'll be an icing call against the Hunters,
but a good effort there. Moments ago from number seventeen
in black and white, Justin Kluet for the Hunters, tale
(01:43:25):
of two differentials if you will. Coming into this game
the March and Milcow Hunters sixteen goals for thirty four
goals against a differential of minus eighteen on goals scored.
Much different story for the Halifax Max thirty seven goals
for coming into this game only eleven against for a
plus twenty six differential. So definitely a tale of two
(01:43:48):
differentials there in terms of goals four and against with
these two clubs. Now here comes Urkhart down with the
puck is Andrew Wurkhart got a good shot away from
the right side and a blocker saved by the goaltender
Bell and then the puck is gloved ahead and we'll
have a stoppage. Now down to eleven forty two left
(01:44:10):
to play. Got time here to tell you about another
one of the fantastic hydration partners of the Nova Scotia
eighteen Major Hockey League, that is, and I love.
Speaker 4 (01:44:22):
This one some good.
Speaker 3 (01:44:24):
What is it you ask, Well, it's fresh pressed fruit
loaded with electrolytes. You can enjoy it as a hydration
shot between periods or as a freezy anytime. Hey, you
had me at freezy. So there you go. Some good.
So a big shout out to Workwater, Apple Kiss and
some good the hydration partners of the Nova Scotia eighteen
(01:44:46):
Major Hockey League.
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
I actually saw.
Speaker 3 (01:44:50):
Those products quite literally yesterday when I was at Sobey's
in Truro. And now we've got a penalty coming here.
Heading over to the penalty box is number twenty three,
Nate Woodrow, and that'll give me a chance to let
you know the penalty killing power play percentage is coming
into tonight's game.
Speaker 4 (01:45:12):
So for the March and Milco Hunters.
Speaker 3 (01:45:15):
They have no power play goals, so their power play
percentage zero, their penalty kill fifty nine percent.
Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
There's tree Win.
Speaker 3 (01:45:22):
With it pass across to Welsh and he sent the
one time or why to the goal in tight but
what a feed from tree Win.
Speaker 4 (01:45:32):
So it's the Max on the power play. Here. I'll
give you their numbers in a second. They're working it around.
Speaker 3 (01:45:38):
Here's tree Win from the right point, nifty little backhand pass.
Speaker 4 (01:45:42):
Ginnish walks in.
Speaker 3 (01:45:44):
He lasered a shot and it went off of backside,
in front and wide of the goal. Max stay on
the puck, keeping the pressure on. Here on the power
play from the goal linesen dif front bottomly is there
one chance, another chance and boldly pushes it wide one
twenty to go in the Max power play, Guinnish over
to live or at the left point, download bottomly right
(01:46:05):
in front as the shot came from goal line as
Welsh put the shot in. So I mentioned the penalty
kill percentage at fifty nine for the Hunters coming into
this one for the power play. The Halifax Max coming
into tonight's action, their power play going along at a
ninety four percent clip down to one minute and ten
(01:46:29):
seconds left in the hunter's versus me penalty, So that's
how much power play time the Max have left in
the penalty box is Nate Woodrow four hunters and the
face off just outside the hunter's own. Max will control
now with SuDS over to creelim and up to Fleming.
Speaker 4 (01:46:51):
Fleming gains his own into the middle.
Speaker 3 (01:46:53):
Haverstock dishes off quick shot from the left side, Fanning.
On the first attempt there was love it and the
second when Pulk got a piece, puck stays in the zone.
Max still working on the power play here. Creelman from
the right point just inside the line. SuDS lets a
shot go. Fleming got a stick on it and deflected
it wide. Forty seconds to go in the power play
(01:47:13):
for Halifax. Still with possession in the hunter's zone, Creelman
from the boards on the right side, tried to go
cross Ice. Good job there, getting in the way by
Braiden Martin and now lock or excuse me, McKnight. McKnight
up the middle, got the puck over towards number twenty
two Braiden Martin, but right back the other way comes
Creelman for the Max. Down to eighteen seconds ago in
(01:47:36):
the power play, Creelman in tight feeds Fleming in front,
and Fleming had the big one timer and the block
and then the save was made, and I think it
was Haco who blocked that shot more than the goaltender
pulk saving it. And Hawko he's had himself a tough night.
He's on the limp now favoring it. Appears to be
(01:47:56):
that right leg after that big shot block. Great defensive
play by Hawko and he's over now on the bench now.
I'll take a close look at him to make sure
he's okay. But again, just another instance of this Halifax
Max team being able to control the puck in the
offensive zone, take it down low, either near or below
(01:48:18):
the goal line, and then whoever is carrying the puck
for the Max down low is able to find a
Max player who is either set up in front or
is heading toward the front. And there's been multiple occasions
of passes from down low in front of the Hunter's goal,
and I don't know how many one time or chances
(01:48:40):
the Max have had off feeds like that from down
low or along the goal line. It's kind of been washed, rinse,
repeat with that kind of one time or setup for
the Max. In tonight's game, and I got to say
that was a great block from number twelve, Noah Hawco
saving his goaltender pulk right there. So we're at the
(01:49:00):
media timeout.
Speaker 5 (01:49:02):
Some good fresh pressed fruit loaded with electrolytes enjoy as
a hydration shot between periods or as a freeze anytime.
Speaker 6 (01:49:11):
It's some good.
Speaker 10 (01:49:14):
You're listening to the Nova Scotia U eighteen Major Hockey
League on FFM Radio. Let's get back to the rink.
Speaker 4 (01:49:22):
So we're back underway here.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
We've crossed over into the last half of this third period.
Speaker 4 (01:49:28):
Nine h nine to go.
Speaker 3 (01:49:29):
Share put the puck up toward the Hunter's own but
the Hunters now with Gibbs up the middle. Gibbs tried
to get a shot away. Good defensive play there by
Joe Breen. Puck bounces up off the boards in behind
the Max goal and Halifax will work it up towards
the boards and in front of their own bench, but
it's grabbed quickly by Count who sends it right back in. Certainly,
(01:49:51):
the two affiliate players, Braden Cowned number eighteen and Luke
Murphy number sixteen, had played pretty solid games, seeing their
first ever in the Nova SCOTIAA T Major Hockey League
Max back the other way, trying to get a shot
away from the left side. Was McKay covering up. There
were the Hunters, including defenseman Dawson Swift. There's another chance.
(01:50:12):
Breen cut into the slot, got a good shot away
and a blocker saved by Bulk. Down to eight twenty
to go. Puck up towards McKay has strong with them.
McKay backhands at past Strong. They'll just peel off and
go for a change. Meanwhile, Swift will gather it there
for the Hunters. Dawson Swift the lone goal scorer for
the March and Milicow Hunters, and as he sends it
(01:50:35):
into the mazone, we'll have a stoppage and both teams
will change up their personnel as time continues to wind
down here in this third period of play off the
face off Tree Win. We'll just take that puck wrapping
(01:50:56):
along the boards, off the glass and all the way
out the other side, where it's picked up by Guinnish
and neutral ice. Ginnish backpedals into his own zone, hands
it off the Tree win. Great lead passed onto the
stick of Sullivan cuts into the middle.
Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
Sullivan in tiny stores great.
Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
Effort by Sullivan, and it was tree Win with the
stunningly beautiful lead pass on to Sullivan who had a
couple of defenders in his way and he just weaved
through them like a hot knife through butter, as the
saying goes. And just a great effort by number eight
(01:51:32):
Carter Sullivan who scores his sixth of the year, and
the Max have added to their total.
Speaker 4 (01:51:40):
It's now seven to one. That was a.
Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
Stunningly great effort by Sullivan and the beauty pass from
tree Wind to spring Sullivan. Gorgeous, gorgeous, I say gorgeous.
Down to seven forty two left to play. That is
the first goal of this third period, and again it's
(01:52:06):
goal number seven for the Halifax Max and for Carter
Sullivan his sixth of the year. So here comes guinnis
now bidding for a goal and the Hunters will get
out of the zone. Here's Treewen who sprung Sullivan with
(01:52:28):
that lovely lead pass. Tree Win worked it up towards
Welsh and it gets hit with a high stick, so
we'll have a stoppage and a face off. So the
goal from Sullivan his sixth and number seven in the
game for Halifax.
Speaker 4 (01:52:53):
So the face off.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
Will be in the Hunter's zone and it'll be to
the left of Noah Pulk. Hawko ties his man up
off the face off puck goes into the near corner.
Max try to fish it out of there, but a
good job staying on the puck by Dawson Swift for
the Hunters. He gets it up ahead to Nate Bundrou.
Budrow now has some help. Budrou had Erkhart with him
(01:53:17):
as Andrew Urkhart was heading toward the front of the goal,
but the Max able to stop that rush and transition
it back the other way.
Speaker 4 (01:53:24):
Shearer broke into the zone.
Speaker 3 (01:53:25):
He got taken out of the play and the Hunters
will send the puck all the way down the ice
and as SuDS gets there, the whistle blows and the
face off will come all the way down into the
March and mil Co Hunter's zone. One, two, three, four, five.
(01:53:46):
Six different goal scorers. I believe that's right. Six different
goal scorers for the Max and River. Welch has two.
That's your seven lone goal scorer for the March and
Milco Hunters, Dawson Swift six to go. Third period, Max
comfortably leading here on whome ice. SuDS being pressured over
(01:54:09):
on that far side. Good four check from Loodie, but
the Max able to send it down into the Hunter's zone.
Picking it up along the wall is strong. Strong takes
a little bump there from Nate Buodrow and now the
puck down low again Hawko. Good to see Hawk go
back on the ice after leaving it a little while ago.
Kind of favoring his leg, but he's back out there
working hard again. Here's Sudds from the left side for
(01:54:31):
the Max. Puck still in the Hunter's zone with six
twelve to go in this third period. Puck down below
the goal line, a couple of players, one from each
team trying to move it along, and the Hunters will
just lift it high to the air and that fly
ball comes landing in the infield grass. Make a baseball
reference because we are to the Major League Baseball playoffs
(01:54:52):
and the Blue Jays got the American League E'ST champs,
so I got to make a baseball reference. Puck up
to the red line, jumping on it quickly. There was
a your workout. He lost control of the west Sullivan
got to it quickly, got a shot away and off
the glass. Sullivan on that puck again. Sullivan trying to
feed it out front waiting for it was live, but
it's Hunters who'll come away with it. Hawko works it
(01:55:14):
up there towards his team mate Jack Baldwin. Puck comes free.
Couple of players collide over on the boards right in
front of the hunter's bench or just to the side
of it. I guess now Shaefer Gibbs trying to get
to that puck first in the magzone. Sullivan will grab
that puck in his own zone and work it up
towards Uzachuku Usa Chuco from the right side try to
(01:55:37):
slide it across to the on rushing love It and
they score. Uzachuco came down the right side initially tried
to get it over to the on rushing love It
that was blocked down, but Usa Chuko stayed with it,
as did love It as they kept pushing toward the goal,
and then Usa Chuco jams it in and he's credited
with the goal, and deservedly so. That was a great
(01:55:59):
effort by Uzachuko coming down that right side with pace
and speed getting it in toward the goal.
Speaker 4 (01:56:05):
Again. He tried to get it to love It.
Speaker 3 (01:56:07):
That didn't work, but he stayed with the puck and
ends up putting it in behind the goaltender Noah Pulk,
and for cheek Uzachuko, that's his third of the year
and the Max add one more to the lead.
Speaker 4 (01:56:19):
It's now eight to one.
Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
So again chee k Uzachuko goal number three on the
season for the big man and he adds to the
Max lead. So the Halifax Max again. They scored three
in the first, they added three more in the second,
and they've got two here in period three.
Speaker 4 (01:56:41):
And they've got a comfortable eight to one.
Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Leon home Ice thrown it again, bottomly tried again in
Shimer follows up shot through a crowd Lowell on his
great left pad, save by Pulk. Puck back in again
and Pulk says, okay, enough, I'm going to cover this
and hold it. Pulk's teammate Luke Murphy was right there
just to cover up, make sure no Max players could
get in and hassle the Hunter's goalie. Four forty seven
(01:57:06):
now left in this third period. It does, indeed look
like the Max will improve their record to a sparkling
seven to zero to oh.
Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
I never like to.
Speaker 3 (01:57:19):
Talk about a potential final score until the game is over,
because the old adage it ain't over till it's over. However,
that would be a story to tell should the Hunters
come back and tie or win. There's a chance in
tight getting a good look at the goal was Shearer.
I don't think he was more than three feet in
front of the goaltender Pulk, and it was to the
(01:57:40):
right hand side and the glove side of the goaltender,
and a Shearer got a good shot away and again
Pulk just calm, solid.
Speaker 4 (01:57:50):
Square to the shooter, makes the save down to four
thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
Third period, ticking away bottomly on it again gets it
out there quick shot from the stick of Welsh. Welsh
has two looking for the hat trick. Shearer keeps it
in at the blue line, flips it forward, but the
Hunters able to gather and spin it down the ice
end over end, and as the puck spin tops down
(01:58:17):
into the Halifax enter the ice, it's an icing call
against the March and Milcow Hunters. So the teams will
head down into the Hunter zone and we'll have a
face off down there with our good friend the goaltender,
Noah Pulk. Face off win for the Hunter's hum in
(01:58:40):
the corner. Now two players from each team trying to
move that puck out of the corner. From this near
side back along the boards, it goes Tree when was
waiting for it, but getting there first was number seven
Remy Bellevo. Fleming though jumps on it, gets.
Speaker 4 (01:58:55):
It the Liver, he scores post it in Liver.
Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
Fleming smoothly passes it over to Evan Liver and Liver
with the quick release off the post to the right
of the goaltender Pulk, Pulk's blocker side. You can hear
the ping from here about four feet off the ice.
What a release from Liver, no chance for the goaltender, Pulk,
(01:59:24):
and Liver is on the board. That's goal number three
on the season for the Max forward Liver and again
the Max back in with another quick shot and Pulk
takes it into the belly and he'll make the save. Well,
that's three in each period. As heading to the penalty box.
(01:59:45):
I believe that's number seventeen justin Cluet, So clue it
to the box. Max to the power play. So Liver
with his third of the year and that makes it
nine to one. So the Max again spreading the goal.
(02:00:08):
Love for the Max three in each period and that's
their nine. See I can do math Tree Win Now
with the Max on the power play, here's Guinnish just
inside the blue line, dishes off to the right hand
side tree Win, tree Win, backing away from the defender,
(02:00:28):
slides across ice.
Speaker 4 (02:00:30):
Max on the power play.
Speaker 3 (02:00:31):
Here Guinish works it down, Cooper strong down low, tree
Win walks in shot from the right circle. Save was made,
Puck was loose and the Max jump on it good
saved by Pulk. But the Max jump on the rebound
tree Win right circle tried to go near side and
sent it just to the outside of the post. Tree
Win has it again. Tree when this time goes back
(02:00:52):
across to Welsh. Welsh has two looking for three. Can
Welsh get the hat trick?
Speaker 4 (02:00:58):
Welsh? He scores. He does. Indeed, a River runs through three.
Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
It's a hat trick for River Welsh and the Halifax
Max have hit double digits.
Speaker 4 (02:01:10):
River Welsh.
Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
Just a gorgeous shot inside the post and it's ten
for the home team. As River Welsh, I don't have
a hat, otherwise I'd throw it down on the ice.
Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
A hat trick for number eighteen.
Speaker 3 (02:01:32):
So River Welsh has the hat trick and the Max
extend the lead.
Speaker 4 (02:01:41):
A power play goal for Welsh and the Max.
Speaker 3 (02:01:44):
So Welsh has three, the Max have double digits, and
we're two forty five away from the conclusion of this.
One tough night for the Hunters, but this is a
team that's got a solid group and they're building something
special as the season goes along.
Speaker 4 (02:02:02):
You gotta lose before he can win.
Speaker 3 (02:02:03):
The old saying goes, there's the Hunters right back in
good chance there as getting it in toward the goal
was number six Mason Morris. Now the Max back into
the Hunter's zone, but the Hunters will grab it with
Morris down the left wing. Morris takes a nudge there
from SuDS. SuDS checks Morris off the puck and it
(02:02:25):
goes up high over these light standings here at the
light standard, i should say, at the forum. So we'll
have a face off and two to eight left on
the clock here in this third period. So River Welsh,
that's goal number seven on the year from him, his
(02:02:47):
third of the night. So another good night for mister
River Welsh, building on his big shorthanded late game winner
that he scored the other night against Steele Subaru one
hundred and twenty ticks of the clock. That's what's left
here in the game. Blootlear slides it along the wall
(02:03:08):
for Halifax. Now Bottomly in with Shearer, chips it over
towards You're.
Speaker 4 (02:03:12):
Right in front. Pulk down in the butterfly. Great save.
Speaker 3 (02:03:18):
Bottomly flipped the puck like a pancake over the Shearer
who was making a bee line up the middle of
the ice toward the front of the goal. And Shearer
put it in toward the goaltender Pulk and he was
down in the butterfly.
Speaker 4 (02:03:30):
Makes a nice save. Pulk has been solid.
Speaker 3 (02:03:35):
It's you know, sometimes it may sound funny to talk
about a goaltender having a solid night when you look
up and you see that the apponent has put ten
behind him. But one thing I can say about Noah
Pulk that the body language. He doesn't sag the shoulders,
he doesn't hang the head. He hangs in there. He
plays tough and just seconds ago made a really nice
save on a point playing shot from Shearer. So the
(02:03:59):
Max will chase the puck down into the Hunter's zone.
With just a minute fifteen left, puck in the corner.
Bottomly tries to work it off the wall. He does
just that, put it off the side and that popping
the water bottle, but the puck hit the outside. And meanwhile,
away from the play, it's Gibbs trying to see who
he's tied up with there as the lines person kind
(02:04:21):
of lifts the max player and takes him off the
top of Gibbs. I think that was Will Shearer. It
was so Shearer and Gibbs getting tangled up in a
bear hug situation over in the corner on the near side,
as the play was going over to the other side.
(02:04:42):
So heading to the penalty box is Will Sheer, and
I'm guessing that the Captain Schaeffer Gibbs is gonna spend
the remainder of this game, albeit only sixty three seconds,
he'll spend it in the penalty box. So I'm guessing
offsetting minors to Shear a Gibbs. And they were wrapped
up there rolling around like two kids fighting over the
(02:05:06):
best Christmas gift ever. I want the gi Joe with
the Kung Freu grip. No, I want it. I just
made a reference back to when I was a kid,
Google Gijo with the Kung Freu grip you'll know what
I'm talking about, A very popular toy when I was
a kid. Just forty five seconds to go, Max trying
(02:05:27):
to get that puck to stay down in the hunter's
own tree when from the right point he'll roll along
the boards. Cooper Strong gets met down there by swift.
Puck goes up towards Remy Bellevo at the red line,
but the Max will send it back in fleming. Under
half a minute to play, Max and quickly as Ginnish,
as he's known to do, rushing in from his defensive position,
(02:05:50):
got a shot away, but he put it wide.
Speaker 4 (02:05:52):
Guinish on the puck again.
Speaker 3 (02:05:55):
Just fifteen seconds to go here as they announced the
offsetting miners to Shear and Gibbs.
Speaker 4 (02:06:01):
Now Ginnish again.
Speaker 3 (02:06:03):
Richter off the posting off to the glass and behind
as Guinnish Howartz are off the stick of the big
defenseman and the buzzer sounds to end the game. As
the Halifax Max defend home ice a solid performance pretty
much in all facets of the game, and they're down
(02:06:25):
to congratulate their goaltender, Chandler Bell, who will lower his
goals against, improve his safe percentage and improve his record.
Now to four to oh to O. The Max go
to seven oh to oh on the air. Now have
fourteen points on the season, at the top of the
table in the Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League. Well
for the March and Milco Hunters, they're growing process. Their
(02:06:48):
learning process continues. I'm sure JP McCallum will have some
things to go over with the team after this one.
Their record goes to one, six and zero now. But
there were some bright spots. I mean, I think Noah
Pulk made some nice saves when called upon at times.
Leam Worth scre leam Worth was solid, Shaeffer Gibbs was good.
(02:07:08):
Dawson Swift another defenseman. Worth, Gibbs and Swift all defenseman
on the team. Swift scored the only Hunter's goal. He
was sawing me up and down the lineup. There was
certainly some positives. Justin Klewett had moments. Noah Hawko was
very good. I mean not that I want to single
out a bunch of players and leave others out.
Speaker 4 (02:07:25):
It is a team game.
Speaker 3 (02:07:26):
But there certainly were some positives from this March and
Milco Hunters team. But at the end of the day,
as is often the case, in this Nova Scotia team
Major Hockey League so far in the early year. The
visiting team at the form runs into a buzzsaw wearing
white sweaters with gold and red trim, so the Halifax
(02:07:47):
Max end up cruising to a ten to one victory,
three in the first three, in the second four, in
the third four of the Max. The lone goal for
the Hunters was in period number two and the game
complete and the Max get a win. A big thank
you to Jack Flamman and Travis Davis for joining me
