Good evening and welcome inside the historic Halifax Forum on
a Wednesday night, It's Nova Scotia U eighteen and Major
Hockey League action, featuring the home side Halifax Max taking
on the visitors from Picto County. The week's majors the
battle of the top two teams in the Nova Scotia

eighteen Major Hockey League, both with thirty six points, but
the Weeks have played three more games than the Halifax Max.
Jared Currendo gets to start at four the weeks, He's
nine and two with a two point three to three
excuse me, a two point two three goals against an
a nine to twenty three save percentage. And for the
home side, Max Chandler Bell between the pipes. Chandler nine

and zero on the year with a one point two
to two goals against and a ninety nine save percentage.
A couple of good goaltenders battling it out here tonight.
These two teams met a few weeks ago in the
final of the Monktonian a four nothing victory for the
Halifax Max. Cale Campbell getting the shutout there, running his
tournament shutout streak to six games. But it's Chandler Bell

and Golds for the Max tonight again up against Jared Currendo.
Halifax Max wearing their typical home whites with the McDonald's
red and gold trim. They'll be skating from my left
to right as I sit a few rows up from
the center rice red line here at the Halifax Forum.
And for the weeks they're in the sharp looking black

uniforms with the white and red trim. They'll be skating
my right to left and we are just about said.
It's a battle for the top of the table. It's
the weeks, it's the Max. Glad to have you with
us on Wednesday night from the Halifax Forum. So great
to have you tuned into FFM Radio. And a little

bit of housekeeping. It looks like to do the referee
in lines. People had to get a couple of extra pucks.

So the referee surveys the puck and we're just about
ready to go and we are underway. Max win the
opening face off, getting back to Tree win. He goes
to Jack's ginnish back to Treewin tree Win facing pressure
right away under the four check from Ethan Fraser.

Max send that puck in behind.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
The Weeks go right out in front of big chance
right away as liver.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Set up sure and they score.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
As I'm talking about the big chance that they had
with liver setting up suer, the puck comes over to
Jack's ginnish and the offensive minded defenseman puts it in.
So just seventeen seconds in, Guinnish has goal number nine
on the season and the Max lead. It won nothing

that didn't take long. The first chance was off the
stick of Sharer right in front as he took the
feet from Livert and then the long rebound came out
and Jack's ginnish deposits it in and the Max off
to a great start on home ice. As mentioned, the
Max undefeated on the air, eighteen wins, thirty six points.

There are. They have been so good so far in
this regular season, and so.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Have the Weeks though twenty one games played, seventeen wins
and a couple of overtime losses in the mix. So again,
battle for the top of the table here in the
Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League. Now here's who's a
chuku on the right side, sends it in front Chancefer Welsh.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
He scores, Oh my, what a setup.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Who's a chucku rushing onto that loose pucked down the
right side, feeds it in front to River Welsh and
Welsh taps it in. Great setup, nice finish and just
like that, fifty five seconds into the first period, the
Max have a two nothing lead. So River Welsh has

the goal for Welsh. That's goal number fourteen on the
year for River and his game continues to flow. It's
two nothing Max before the game even a minute old.
Now the Max on it again. Coach Tim Boyce and
the coaching staff said that they wanted to play with

pace and just be on top of the weeks. Shift
after shift, and so far, so good for the Max.
To nothing goals from Guinnish and Welsh. Max, with the
pressure on the puck comes right in front and it's
covered up by the goaltender Surrendo, who I'm sure Jared
Surrendo is kind of just shaking his head and feeling like,

wait a minute, We've only played a minute in twenty nine,
What the heck is going on here? But as good
as the Weeks are, that's the game that the Halifax
Max play. They're relentless, they come mat you in waves
and they really don't let the opposition take a shift off.
So Guinnish opened up the scoring, made it one nothing

and a few seconds later River Welsh made it two
nothing and the Max off to a great start on
home ice. Now the Week's three across the redline camera
and then this old quick shot Cameron stepped into the
left circle, great snapshot off the stick of Jack Cameron,
the young man from Stellarton had a good scoring chance there.

As you know, the Weeks are gonna want to answer
back here and kinda get past the initial shell shock
of the first fifty five seconds that have seen the Max.

Score a couple of quick goals.

So again for Guinnish goal number nine and for Welsh
goal number fourteen, here are the Weeks now back in
looking for more. Then day score Jadeen Croft answering back
a minute and fifty three into this game and we've
already had three goals, two for the Max, one for

the Weeks, and Croft has the Weeks on the board.
They cut the lead in half and just like that,
it's two to one Max. Want to start here to
this one? You may just be coming back from the
kitchen with a snack wondering, Hey, I wonder if anything's
happened yet. Sure has two goals for Halifax, one for

the Weeks. So the Weeks answer right back, and a
good answer indeed, as Jaden Croft gets his sixth of
the air and it's two to one Max and a
much needed goal to kind of get their feet back
underneath them here for the Weeks. After that quick start

for the Max, Now onto the puckets Pudsley, he'll just
roll it aver on the boards in behind the Halifax goal.
Want to start here to this one Wednesday night mayhem
so far as Bottomly tosses it down into the week
zone and I'm sure for the PA announcer he's just
trying to catch up here with all of the information.

In the first couple of minutes, three goals on the boards.
It's two to one Halifax Max. On the puck again,
there's a quick shot from the left circle. Bottomly trying
to bang in that loose puck in front. He took
a push for his troubles and the Weeks will take
it off the glass and out tree. Win back pedals
into his own zone, throws it up to Ginnish on
that left side Jack's Ginnish tried to feed it over

into the middle, couldn't quite Nick with liver and the
puck is grabbed by Jack Cameron. Cameron tried to make
a move at the red line. He's turned aside Ginish
down the right side. Ginnish leans into a shot and
it was a good one. Snapped it from about two
feet off the ice and a good save by Surrendo
and then a little bit of pushing and shoving after
the whistle down behind the Week's go well, not hard

to tell that these two teams know wats that's daycare.
It's points and sole possession of first place.

There was you and sim and the Weeks couple of
good shifts here after their goal. So it looks like
the Weeks have kind of gotten their legs underneath them
here and shaken off the initial shock of those two
Max goals within the first minute of this period. So
the Max jumped out to nothing, but it's now two

one again thanks to the goal from Jaden Croft Croft
again his sixth of the year. So it's two one
Halifax sixteen ten to go and an eventful first period
at least the first few minutes of it anyway, and

(09:31):
you kind of knew that this would have energy and pace.
Two teams know each other well again top of the
standings and wanting to set the tone here. The Weeks
have played the Max a couple of times, once in
the regular ear once at the Montonian as mentioned, and
so further yet to get a win against their league rivals.

Coming up to five minutes played in this opening period,
here's Guinness, the defenseman who sometimes plays more like a forward.
He rushed the puck up the middle, had it taken
away trying to move forward with it. There was fleming
for the Max, but the Weeks with force now back
the other way. Nice pass he played. Cameron shoots try
to go short side as he took the nice little
saucer feed from Nicholas Mackenzie and Cameron came down that

left wing, got a good shot away, but Chandler Bell
made the save. And I mentioned Chandler Bell. This Halifax
Max goaltending tandem has been stellar both Tale Campbell and
Chandler Bell nine to zero on the AAR. I mentioned
Bell's numbers at one point two two goals against in
a nine to forty nine save percentage. Campbell equally as

good with a one to seventy three goals against in
a nine to twenty seven save percentage. Halifax on that
puck now long lead pass trying to spring Sullivan into
the clear, Carter Sullivan got tied up and the Weeks
will grab that puck back pass up that right wing side.
They'll have it in the zone. Now here's the goal.
Score a Craft with a long shot, a nice right

pad save as Campbell shot out that pad and made
a save on that nice long shot. Now Carter Sullivan
takes a bump into the boards. Lawrence Williams stepped into
his man, Max throwing that puck around again Riley Kreelman
through a cross ice. Now the Weeks they'll grab it
in their own zone and skate it up into neutral ice,

weaving through a crowd. This is Williams. Williams now lowers
the shoulder, tried to defeat it in front for the
on rushing Croft, but Kreelman was there to break it
up for the Max. Weeks now certainly have settled into
this one. After a frantic first couple of minutes, things
have settled down here. With fourteen seventeen to go in
the first and the Max. With the two to one

lead outlet passed there couldn't quite Nick with Haverstock. Haverstock
will chase the puck down and behind the Week's goal.
Sullivan took a hit there from Haverstock. Now there's a
couple players in that far our corner comes back out
to McKay. He tried to get a shot away but
was tied up. Max throw the puck down low once
again in behind the Week's goal. Cooper Strong trying to

grab that puck there, but the Weeks will come away
with it and they'll skate it out of their own zone.
Williams worked it up. Now the Weeks will toss it
in behind the Max goal. Max will put it up
this near side. It comes into neutral ice and shooting
it back into the Max end was Nick Bircham. But
it goes up and out of play and we'll have
a stoppage and a face off with thirteen thirty six

to go in this opening period. Glad to have you

the Max zone, scramble draw and bottom. We will grab
that puck now for Halifax.

Red line and back hand it down into the Week zone.
Bertum got to that puck first for the Weeks and
now Liverr in trying to dig it free and he
gets it back to the left point. Ginnish looking shooting
lowel on the ice, hits the crowd in front, and
the Weeks will take it in behind their own goal
with Nick mackenzie, Week's player when flying they're trying to

catch the number. That was number twenty eight Nathan Kid
who went flying up into the air and the referee's
arm is up and looks like we're gonna have our
first penalty call of tonight's game. And we'll see what
the call is here. Looks like it's four minutes for kneeing.

So kneeing a penalley you don't often see called, but
it's called here and it's Will Shearer heading to the
penalty box. So Sheer wears one of the A's as
an alternate captain on this Max team and has the
number sixteen on his back and on his sleeves, and
he's gonna sit now for four minutes or less. So

a big chance now on that four minute power play
four of the Weeks from the right side. They'll work
it down low right in front as sending it into
the front of the goal was Pudsley for the Weeks,
and try to bang it in there was Mackenzie right
in front of the net, but Bell able to cover
it up. Exactly seven minutes have been played here in

this opening period, three point fifty one left to go
in the four minute penalty.

Off the face off, puck is loose, comes back to
the line. Weeks, just keep it and here's Mackenzie now
throws it all the way across the ice AUTI the
stick of Ethan Fraser. Fraser has it back, goes to Bircham.
Bircham controls it just inside the blue line. He'll dark
toward the goal. Bretchham tried to get a shot through
and it was blocked neatly there by Fleming. Good defensive
stick from Fleming and the Max able to send it

down the ice twelve thirty five to go in the
period three twenty five in the power play to the
for the Weeks Shearer in the penalty box the four
minutes for kneeing puck down low in the Week's end
of the ice on this near side. A couple of
players in there trying to chop that puck free and
the Weeks will come away with it. Birchum tried to

work it up toward the red line, live or intercept
it for Halifax. Puck comes loose again. River Welsh jumps
on it and rifles it down into the Week zone.
Sorendo stopped it there and he'll throw it over onto
the stick of Nick Birchum. Here comes Bertram getting ahead
of Steam up now while the Max change up the
penalty kill unit into the zone comes Lawrence Williams. Williams

in a crowd and loses the puck and the Max
will send it down the ice as Gavin Sudds lifted it.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Carter Sullivan chasing that puck into the week's zone, but
the Weeks will skate it out. Cameron up to the
right side onto the stick of Williams. Lawrence Williams tried
to make a move. Welsh now trying to get onto
that pucks even get something going shorthanded, but good job
there by Eli Swain chasing back and not allowing River
Welsh to get that shorthanded opportunity. Good defensive back checked

there from Swain. Two tend to go in the power
play for the weeks eleven fifteen in the period, So far,
so good on this penalty kill for the Max. Puck
was inside the mazone for just a second but now
comes all the way to the other end. Sullivan one
on two in the week zone couldn't settle the puck,

(16:29):
but again good work there by Carter Sullivan taking some
time off of this week's power play Weeks trying to
get organized here, but it's sent down the ice. That
time it was Ian Lovett. Weeks can't get anything set
up here on this power play. Down to one thirty
five left of the original four minutes of power play time,

(16:51):
Weeks quickly into the zone in tight there with a
shot was Nathan Kidd from that left side, lifted it
up and hit the crest on the jersey of the
goaltender Chandler Bell, puck all the way down into the
week's end of the ice again. Now Weeks will set
up behind their own goal with ten twenty three to
go in the first one to eleven to go in

(17:11):
the week's power play, Birchum slides it across the ice
on the stick of Pugsy. Pugsy's forward progress was stopped
along the boards, and then the play is whistled down.
Approaching the midway point of period number one, ten minutes

and twelve seconds left to play, two to one, Max
in the lead, all the goals going coming in the
first couple of minutes one oh three left to go
in the week's power play face off in the mazone
to the left of Bell.

Scramble draw, the Weeks will control it.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Good move there by bircham He'll slide it off to
the right wing side in front a chance there as
taking that puck and putting it in toward the goal
was crawfy. He's already got one. Came close to a second,
but Bell shut the door. Forty five seconds to go.
Now in the week's power play and the Max able
to send it down the ice. The two number twelves
chasing on the puck, fleming for the Max and Birchum

for the weeks into the red line of ghosts SuDS.
We'll just flip it down into the week zone. Good
penalty killed going here for the Max, twenty seven seconds
away from killing off the four minute power play. Here's
kraft now for the weeks. Birchum from the left wing
floated it in and it's broken up and sent off
to the sideboards. Weeks on it again, working with that puck.

Now the Max will flip it up into the air
craft settles it just inside the Max zone, but a
good stick there by Number twenty two Cardiat Jealousy was
able to get it outside the zone. Now Ginnish in
his own zone, winding with that puck. Watch out for
the speedy Jack's Ginnish trying to get around camera and
as the two twenty ones came to get Ginnish and Cameron,

(19:02):
penalty is over. Shearer out of the box and the
Max killed off the four minutes. Good penalty kill buy
the Max. Not much going there on that power play
for the weeks, no real big scoring chances and we
carry on now back to even strength hockey with eight
forty to go in this quickly played opening twenty minutes,

(19:24):
Max trying to gather that puck in the week zone,
but the weeks we'll clear it out With a couple
of quick passes down the left side, Eisner slides it
across try to connect with the on rushing Cohen Tanner.
A good setup, but Tanner just couldn't control the puck.
Weeks into their own zone now as the Max makes
some changes, Williams sends it into the middle of the

ice Tanner had to touch. Williams gets it back, sending
it down into the zone as Lawrence Williams in behind
the Max goal Bootler moves it along there for Halifax.
Puck up in the neutral ice again, Williams gently up
ahead onto the stick of Nathan Kidd for the weeks.
Back outside the zone again and then the weeks will
send it back in and they'll get control of it. Good

work there momentarily by the weeks, but Sharer grabs it
and comes away. Sharer leaves it for live or his
long shot from the boards on the right wing side
caught just a piece of the block or of the goaltender.

go cross ice. O'Dell watched it go blit between his
skates and off the boards. That allowed the Weeks to
move it down toward the Max end of the ice

has gathered up there and Gavin Sudds will just lift
it down into the Week zone and it goes by
everybody and that's a nice call against the Weeks, excuse me,
against the Max. So the Weeks will have an offensive
zone face off with seven oh one to go, both
teams again getting fresh units out on the ice. Stick

around in the first intermission an intermission interview for you.
Liam Moxner, the goaltending coach and former goalie for the Max,
will join us, so again stick around for that in
the first intermission and we'll be at the first intermission

Practice any goaltender can fall into bad, habits but especially
at this, level where you're dealing with young, players bad
habits can be easy to slide. Into how do you

Accountable our whole team holds themselves, accountable especially especially for

down to practice where guys just need to work harder

Game goalies tend to nowadays move really quickly and think
the biggest push is going to get them there quicker
when reality is the smallest, push just multiple smallest, pushes

about saying been, position having a, depth especially being a smaller,
guy you got to play to your advantages with, speed
with your, depth your, angle stuff like.
