Speaker 1 (00:00):
This Nova Scotia You eighteen Major Hockey League game features
the Valley Wildcats visiting the Zatsman.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Sportsplex to take on Steal Suber Room.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Let's go inside the rink.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Good afternoon and welcome inside the Zatsman Sportsplex in Dartmouth,
Nova Scotia for today's Nova Scotia You eighteen Major Hockey
League game between the visitors, the Valley Wildcats and the
home side Steal Subru. Scott Squire's here, thanks for tuning
into the firm Foundation Media Radio Network for today's Nova

(00:33):
Scotia You eighteen Major Hockey League Game of the week.
Looking forward to a good contest here today. These two
teams close in the standings. The Wildcats come in six
three and oh good for twelve points, and for Subaru
they are five three and oh good for ten points.
So Subreu had a game at hand and trail in

(00:53):
the standings to the Wildcats by just two points. Wildcats
played last night home they lost for nothing to a
very good undefeated Week's major side. And for Steele Suber
they played yesterday as well right here at.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
The Zatsman Sportsplex.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
They got a ten to two victory over the Sydney
Mitsubishi Rush starting in goal today for the Valley Wildcats
will be number gotta get make sure I get his
number right on the program. Number one Aaron Meaden. He's
got a three seventy five goals against average in an

(01:32):
eight eighty two save percentage.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
He's three and one on the year.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
And at the other end, it'll be a familiar face
between the pipes for Steel Subru Will Cole. Cole has
a one in two record, a three point thirty five
goals against and a very respectable nine oh seven save percentage.

(01:57):
So both teams at the entrance to the ice. The
officials are out there just getting ready to put the
nets in place. The Valley Wildcats will be wearing their
red jerseys with the black and white trim, a little
bit of blue in there as well. And for Steel

(02:19):
Subru the home side they'll be wearing the home powder
blue with the dark blue and white trim. And to
start this game, Valley will be skating from my left
to right and Subaru skating from my right to left.
I'm a few rows up at the center rice red
line here at the Zatsman Sportsplex. If you're familiar with

(02:39):
the building, I'm sitting on the side of the ice
that is opposite the press box or the broadcast booth,
but I've got a nice area here again just above
actually the penalty box area and where the in game
announcer gets set up, So a good location to call
the game from. Both teams lining up on their blue lines,

(03:01):
and we should be set to go and just a
couple of minutes. Glad again to have you along for
this Sunday afternoon affair. And I'm not sure what it's
like where you are, but right here in Dartmouth it
is a gorgeous fall day.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
So it's going to be Aaron Meaden.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
In goal for the Wildcats, Will Cole tending the net
for Steel Subaru. Battle of two teams toward the top
of the standings in the Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League.
As we approach, hard to believe we're almost a month
into the regular season. It feels like it was just
preseason the other day. But certainly these teams now starting

(03:41):
to get a sense of their identity, what they need
to work on, what they want to improve on, what
they want to keep going.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
As mentioned, six three and.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Oh twelve points for the Valley Wildcats to five three
and oh ten points for Subaru and again Valley Wildcats.
And they're red with black and white trim, skating left
to right, Subaru in the powder blue homes with the
dark blue and white trim. And we are set to
go here from the Sportsplex. Glad to have you along
on the firm plautation media at radio Network. And the

(04:15):
puck is dropped and we are underway Subaru. We'll work
that puck in. But grabbing it is Fleming for the Wildcats.
Morgan Fleming, having himself a good year leading goalscorer on
this Wildcats team. He's got nine goals so far in
the regular year. Puck over on the fireboards, Wildcats grab it.

(04:38):
Tried to get it onto the stick there of number
twenty one Hunter Hood, but the Subaru send it down.
The ice shot from a sharp angle hits the side
of the Wildcats goal. Meeting just watches now as his
teammates will work it up. Hood got to the red
line and then got spun around. Fleming takes a big
hit there from Brian and then Max. Brian follows up
with a little shove just to make sure Fleming knew

(05:00):
it was Brian that laid the hit on him. So
physical tone trying to be set here early on, not
quite one minute into play, there's a shot at Sinclair.
Let it go, Jesse Sinclair down the right side. Got
that shot away, no problem for the goaltender. Coal Now
Valley keep the pressure on in the Suebreu zone. Good

(05:21):
work here from the team clad in red the Valley Wildcats.
There's a shot from the boards on the right side.
Hit traffic in front and Subru will come out the
other way with Brendan Smith. There's a shot in harmlessly
though Meeting took it off the pads and then directed
it off into the corner. Here's a chance now coming
in with it as Fletcher. Fletcher tried to work it
toward the middle of the ice where one of his

(05:43):
teammates was flying in, but good defensive coverage there by
Subru puck all the way back down into the Wildcats zone,
getting a stick on it. There was Lucas Arnold for
the Wildcats now having to retreat as Handley Hanley, one
of the defensemen for this team in front.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Big chance it's there.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
As the buck suddenly came out from the corner on
the far side and right in the slot was Chase
Mundon and he was looking for goal number nine on
the air. Gets another chance there, So good work on
this shift from Chase Mundon had a couple of good chances.
Goalie turned him aside once and then the shin pad
the second time. So Wildcats had a little pressure early.

(06:24):
Now the subrew answering right back, and with not quite
two and a half minutes played in the opening period,
we'll have a stoppage both teams. We'll get some fresh
legs out on the ice. Just two points separating these
two teams and subrew do have a game in hand

(06:48):
coming into this one. Off the face off, this is
Ben Henry. Henry sends it into the Wildcat zone. Wilson
will pick it up there. Wildcats trying to work it
out along the boards. Darius Pay gets it out from
one corner over to the other side on the fireboards.
Now the puck cops up into neutral ice right in

(07:09):
front of the Superaru bench on that fire side. There's
a puck battle and Subaru. Now we'll just loft it
down into the Wildcat zone and after it there is Semen.
Jacob Seman took a nudge there and Subru will come
up with the puck. Good four check from the Subaru,
puck along the boards. Now here comes the Wildcats with pace.
This is Carrigan. Kragan gets it right back on the

(07:31):
give and go head it along the goal. I just
couldn't settle that puck. Karragan feeds it out in front
and Amos Sinclair got tied up there. So again it's
the Wildcats now answering back as both teams take turns
applying pressure. Coming up to three and a half minutes
played in a pretty quick opening period at least so far.

(07:55):
Two teams trying to set the tone here and add
a couple of points in the standings, and that puck
goes into the subrew zone. Morgan Fleming was in taking
a look, but it was offside and now a couple
of players exchanging words. It was Hunter Hood for the

(08:15):
Valley Wildcats and number twenty two Max Bryant for the Subrew.
And let's say Brian gone ahead to the penalty box.
Didn't see what the call is. We'll have to wait
for it on the announce announcements, but it's a power
play now for the Valley Wildcats. Wildcats, and here's the announcement,

(08:39):
So hooking the call to Brian good strong boys from
the in house PA announcer. So Brian in the penalty box,
here come the Wildcats. Now, Conley tried to bust in
toward the front of the goal and Subaru, we'll just
whack it down the ice. Valley Wildcat power play going

(09:01):
at a twenty nine percent clip so far in the season,
and the penalty kill for Subaru right now eighty one
percent success rate. Wildcats controlling shot from the left side.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
They score power play goal.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
It's hunter Hood scoring his fourth of the year power
play marker and the Valley Wildcats take advantage of the
first power play of the game and it's number twenty
one hunter Hood on the power play, fourth of the season,

(09:36):
and it's won nothing Valley. So a good start for
the Valley Wildcats on the road. Special teams always such
an important part of the game.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
And right there it's the Valley Wildcats.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Improving a little bit anyway on that at twenty nine
percent power play, that's the percentage they had come in
into this game. That'll increase the percentage, even if it's
just by a couple of decimal points. Now, Subru trailing here.
They'll come down with McDonald. They're just announcing the hood now,

(10:22):
so seventy two and twenty two. That's Fleming and bets
on the assists.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Now.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Subrew Land from his defensive position, puts it into the
wildcat zone. Valley able to clear it. Subrew changing, so
they'll take it off the boards. Cerver gets it down
into the wildcat zone. He took a bump there from
number eight. Nolan Fletcher Subru on that puck. As the

(10:54):
Wildcats make a change, Ryan sends it down into the
wildcat zone for Subru. Meden stops behind his own goal.
He'll get some help now form a teammate and the
Wildcats will work it over to the air boards and
I try to work it up to the blue lining
out and they do. Henry meets it there for Subaru
and flips it right back into the Wildcat zone. Meeting

(11:14):
out of his net again, sends the puck over to
the boards on the far side. It'll come loose, jumps
into the neutral zone and then getting on the puck
quickly is Eric Hanley. Hanley gets grabbed and spun around
in the Subrew zone. Henry still has his man. Hanley
wrapped up and finally took Hanley down, and I think
Henry might be going to the penalty box. Well, I

(11:37):
thought it might be for a hold or interference even
but it's going to be a slashing call against the
Subru defenseman Ben Henry. So Henry pleading his case to
the lines person, but to no avail. So big number
four for Steel Subru. Ben Henry to the penalty box.

(11:57):
So another power play here for the Wildcats. They took
it advantage of the first one. We'll see now what
they can do with this second power play. Six minutes
played in this first period, Wildcats lead it one nothing
on the puck there Morgan Fleming, part of his power

(12:19):
play unit, and now coming in over the line was
Nate Betts. But his teammate's a little over anxious and
the Wildcats offside, so we'll have a face off just
outside the Subaru zone. Thirteen forty eight left in the
first period, one one left in the penalty to Subaru

(12:40):
defenseman Ben Henry off the draw, Wildcats control. Fleming back
on the right point for the Wildcats on this power play,
he's got the puck now weaving through traffic, Fleming tops
it into the zone, jumps after it. Now we'll dish
off to hunter Hood. Hood has the power play goal
in this game. There's a long point shot walk down

(13:01):
in front, good coverage in front of their own goal
by Subaru. Quickly jumping on the puck was Nate Betts, though,
try to work it toward the front of the net,
but Subru will send it all the way down the
ice that bounces into meeting perhaps a shorthanded chance now
is superu and on that puck quickly was Owen Sparks
catching the Wildcats on a line change that got a

(13:21):
reaction from the fans in the building here, but all
is okay for the Wildcats. Fletcher gets it over quickly
onto the stick of his teammate and a quick shot
in on goal. As letting it fly was the Wildcats forward,
so a good sequence there, as getting the shot away
was Number fifteen Luke Force a good transition from the

(13:45):
Wildcats after a pretty good short handed opportunity at the
other end. For number eleven Owen Sparks when he caught
the Wildcats in the middle of a change off the
face off in the Subaru zone. Sinclair has that go
off his stick. Jesse Sinclair. Where's the captain c for
this Wildcats team? Forty seconds left to go in the

(14:09):
power play. Good penalty kill so far for Subaru. Meeten
stops it in behind his own goal for the Wildcats,
they'll set up now here is Sinclair over the blue line,
dishes off to the left hand side. That went on
beyond the reach of force, and then it's knockdown. I
think that might have hit a player on one of

(14:30):
the player benches over on that far side from where
my broadcast location here is up amongst the fans. Typically
I could go up into the press boxing arenas, but
if there's space and I'm not hindering any of the
fans that are close by, I like to find somewhere
in the seats a few rows up from the center

(14:51):
race red line. It's just for me anyway, gives a
much more in the game feel. So that's where I am.
A few rows up here at the center race red
line the Zatchman Sportsplex, a building that's been around a
long time, and that puck goes down into the subrew's
own and that'll be a nice thing against the Valley Wildcats.
So five seconds only left in the penalty to Ben

(15:13):
Henry's already standing in the penalty box waiting to come
back on the ice. Twelve twelve left to go in
the period. Won nothing your score, Valley Wildcats with the lead.
Their goal scored by hunter Hood, his fourth of the year,
and it was a power play goal.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Face off to the left of.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
The Wildcat's net, and it's controlled by Subru, and Henry
was sitting on the top of the boards waiting to
come out. His penalty is over, so Subrew have killed
it off, falling down into the n board's there was
Dylan Paplinsky that will allow the Wildcats to grab it.
Long shot from the left point, hit a couple of
bodies in front. Cole is down in his crease, but

(15:55):
Subrew able to grab that puck and send it down
the ice quickly after it. There is number twenty Chase Munden.
A couple of bodies come together down in the far corner.
That got a reaction from the fans. And there's Henry
from the left point just coming over the blue line
and laying into one and it goes right into the
goaltender meeting and he holds it and we'll have a

(16:16):
face off now with eleven thirty to go in this
opening period. Glad to have you along here on the
firm Foundation Media Radio Network for today's broadcast of the
Nova Scotia U eighteen Major Hockey League face off to
the right of the Wildcat's goal and off the scramble draw,
It's thrown up into the netting as Jacob Seaman tried

(16:39):
to flip it out of his zone, but he put
it up into the black mesh that goes all the
way around the arena. Here just a reminder coming up
in the first intermission, I'll have a chat with Kate
bretton Eagles maritime scout Sam Foster, So look forward to
that chat with Sam coming up in the first intermission.

(17:00):
Watch now as the Wildcats will skate it out of
their own zone with Isaac Connley. A couple of quick
passes there as Connolly got at the max Hanley Hanley
tried to go cross ice, but Subaru broke it up.
Wildcats stay on the puck comes back now to Cameron
Hickey from the right point, walking in quick shot there
as Handley let it go. That hit a leg, but

(17:21):
the Wildcats stay on it and Cameron Hickey keeps it
in the zone. Throws it down low Wildcats and after
that puck, Conley was after it.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
He'll chase it. Now.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
We are even strength hockey here with ten thirty five
to go in the first period, and there's Oliver Scotland
throwing his weight around in his own zone, comes back
to Hickey at the right point, but behind the play,
we've got an interference call coming here. So while the
puck went back to the right point and the shot

(17:56):
came from Cameron Hickey, behind the play, it's an interference
call and it's going to be number seventy two Morgan Fleming,
leading goalscorer on this team with nine goals. So Fleming
will hang out over in the penalty box. Fleming twelve points,

(18:19):
leading point gutter as well on this Wildcats team. But
now he's got to watch Subru set up on the
power play. That puck comes back to the line hopped
over the stick of Alastair McFee, so subrew have to retreat.
Subrew have to clear the zone now and the Wildcats
will send it the length of the ice. We've reached

(18:40):
the midway point of this first period, one point thirty
three left to go in the subreu power play and
they cross the red line with the puck. Firing it
down into the zone is Alistair. McFee and McPhee will
watch now as the Wildcats send it right back the
other way. Wildcats change up their penalty killers and that'll
take some time off this power play. Now down to

(19:01):
one point fifteen left in the power play for Subru.
Nine thirty nine in the period. Here's Land gently puts
it forward there, trying to control it with sparks for Subaru.
Land again had to go by him and McPhee will
backpedal into neutralice. Here's Paplinsky spinning away from Fletcher on
the nearboards. Coming in on the fore check is Nolan Fletcher.

(19:23):
Land now for Subru, tosses it over to the right
wing side into the zone. Pass over on this near
side on the stick of Travis Tromblay. Tromblay backs away
into the corner. He'll skate along the boards, gets it
back long shot there as Brian let it go a
little bit of traffic in front of Meten, but he
has no problem tracking that puck and making the save.

(19:46):
And we're now down to nine oh four left in
this first period. Thirty eight seconds left in the penalty
the Wildcats number seventy two. Morgan Fleming then were at
the media timeout, so we'll step aside for just one moment.

Speaker 5 (20:01):

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Apple Kiss two pei honeycrisp apples in every can, fresh
pressed apples, never from concentrate, without any artificial flavors or preservatives.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Try apple Kiss today.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
So just about set to get underway here after the
media timeout. Something new that the Nova Scotia teen Major
Hockey League has implemented this year. Thirty six seconds left
to go in the power play for Subaru, sam Ryan
got taken down to the ice. I think some of
the Subaru fans wanted a penalty, but the play carries on.
Wildcats get it down into the Subaru Zo and Stele

(21:01):
will have to set up there. Down to twenty seconds
left in the Wildcat's penalty. Here's Ryan getting into the zone.
Takes a little push there from Jesse Sinclair. Captain Sinclair
of the Wildcats watches now as the puck comes back
to the left point, Duffy sends it in down low,
super working from below the goal line, sending it out
in front as Paplinsky was pinching in. Puck went underneath

(21:25):
the stick of Paplinsky and the power play is over.
So the Wildcats kill it off, fleming over to the
bench and back to even strength hockey. Here's Ryan for Subaru,
chips it down into the zone. Wildcats watch it go
in behind their own goal. Now they'll pick it up
down low and the pass comes up to the right
side to Eric Hanley. Hanley has Sinclair with him. Now
it's Conley, Isaac Conley, now Jesse Sinclair and taking a

(21:54):
stick up around the cheek area. Was Isaac Conny lucky
he had the face mask on as he kind of
whipped the head back whip everything. All good play carries on.
There's a spinning puck up into the air. Brian takes
a hit there from Conley and then gives Conley a
little how she going After Brian gets back up Brian

(22:14):
extra feisty today number twenty two for Steel Subru Max
Brian Subru sharp angle shot, no problem there for goaltender
meeting and now hare comes Wildcats. Quick shot there off
the stick of Nate Betts. Good saved from Cole and
in transition Subru right back the other way. Subaru quickly

(22:37):
to the Wildcats zone, trying to let a shot go.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
There was Calvin Carver.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
It went off a Wildcats defender and the Wildcats back
into the blue line. Nod out kept in long shot
goes over top of the goal. There's Land getting on
the puck. Quickly took a shot from the boards and
the force the goaltender meating to handle the puck and
the Wildcats. Now we'll grab it on the board's far
side with Hunter Hood. Hood goes to the bench watches

(23:02):
as his teammate follows up to play. Darius pay got
a backhander on goal from in tight and now turnover.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Here comes McDonald down the left side.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
McDonald feeds across Ace quick shuft day Scar McDonald from
the left side, fitted over to Chase London, and Chase
London has goal number nine on the season, and it's
the equalizer for Steel Subrew. It's one one with six
thirty six to goal. So London on the lovely setup

(23:40):
gets the goal and Subrew have time.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
So again goal number nine for Chase.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
They're just announcing the London goal now as Wildcats go
into the Subaru zone. So McDonald on the lovely assist
gorgeous rushed down the left side by mcgoff's Suber right
back in again pass across in a little deep there
was alas to mcpheez he couldn't settle the puck, but

(24:18):
another good setup and across ice pass from subar Rout
led to almost a sparkling chance on the Valley Wildcat's goal.
So it's one one with five point fifty three to
play here in this opening period, both teams with a goal,
both teams looking for more. Here's Jesse Sinclair now try

(24:41):
to use the defense from Paplinsky as a screen, but
the snapshot hit the skates of Paplinsky. Wildcats staying on
that puck, but Suber will pick it up behind their
own goal line. Try to flip it up, but it
goes out of play. So we'll have a stop at
Jenna face off with five and a half minutes left

(25:01):
in the opening period.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
So the two twenty ones have scored. Here.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Hunter Hood number twenty one for the Wildcats on the
power play, his fourth and answering just moments ago. Number
twenty one for Steele subrou Chase London his ninth. So
tie game of five point thirty to go face off
into Subaru zone controlled by the Wildcats from the left point.
It's put up toward the goal getting knocked down in front.

(25:27):
Was hunter Hood pucked to the blue line not out
keeping it in? There was number sixteen Lucas Arnold scrambled
in front of the Subrew goal and Steele Subrou able
to clear to the boards on the far side and
then they'll flip it out of the zone. It's a
foot race now trying to race in after that puck
is carver for Subru, but the Wildcats are able to
gather that puck and send it out of the zone.

(25:49):
Here's a lead pass coming in alone as Connolly tried
to make a move in tight. Isaac Connolly sprung free,
had a great chance and maybe got a little too
tight on the goal tender Cole who is able to
keep that puco out of the net.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
From the on rushing Isaac.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Conley inside five minutes now four fifty five to be exact.
That's what's left in this opening period. They're not posting
shots on goal from what I can see, so I
can't give you an update there, but the important numbers
one one, Subaru and Wildcats at the Zatsman Sportsplex here.

(26:31):
Glad you're tuned into firm Foundation Media Radio network checking
out this Sunday afternoon affair. Working with the puck is
Eric Hanley. Hanley right in front of his own goal
for checking there, coming from Max Brian. Puck goes to
the boards on the fireside. Couple of players fall down,
Brian on top of his man is Handley and Brian
battling for the pucket. Pops free and comes to Ryan

(26:54):
at the red line for Subru. He'll send it into
the opposite corner far side backhanding it in behind his
own goal was Lucas Arnold and the Wildcats will pick
it up and try to move it out of the zone.
They do get it into neutral ice. Sending it down
there was Amos Sinclair and that'll be icing and a
face off that'll come down into the Wildcat zone. Amos

(27:18):
Sinclair number ten brother of the other Sinclair on this club,
Jesse Sinclair amos number ten, Jesse number twenty three, and
Jesse has mentioned wearing the captain c for this Wildcats club.

(27:38):
Three point fifty five to go. Puck in the Wildcats zone.
Subaru trying to get on that puck with Carver from
the nearboard, sends it in on goal. No problem for meeting,
and then Carver turns around and has a couple of
words with Eric Hanley. Gave Hanley a little tap, but
nothing comes of that. Andy will held head to the bench.

(28:01):
Carver stays out there. Face off will be in the
Wildcat zone to the right of their goaltender, Aaron Meaden.
Off the face off. It's controlled by the Wildcats and
Max Hanley. We'll send it up. Here's a chance now
Nolan Fletcher tried to break into the zone, lost the handle.
They got spun around for his trouble and Suber will

(28:23):
break out of the zone. Lead pass from Land onto
the stick of Brendan Smith. Hat's broken up by the
Wildcats in their own end. Puck on the boards over
on the far side, still in the Wildcats zone though
now Carver in after that puck got to it. First
Wildcat's player went down, Puck comes to the blue line,

(28:43):
held in though by Alistair McPhee, and a shot in
towards the goal, meeting holes on and again we have
a little bit of extra stuff after the whistle as
both of these teams feisty here on a Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
And it's interesting. I asked both coaches.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Is Scott Trash from the Wildcats And I said to
coach trask, afternoon start, like this early afternoon start, does
it really affect the game preparation, the routine? And I
asked the same thing, you know, to Mardy King from
Steele Subaru, and both coaches were kind of like, well,

(29:22):
maybe a little bit, but you know, they're kind of
used to it. And these young players, you know, they're
pretty adaptable. They just adjust and for the most part,
as long as they get some good sleep the night
before and get up early enough to do their routines,
all should be well. It was a one p fifteen
pm Atlantic start here for this one today, but again
both teams energized and feisty on a Sunday afternoon. Puck

(29:45):
into the Subaru zone two thirty eight to go in
this period it's a one to one tie.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
That puck.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Subrou tried to clear it out, but Jacob Seeman was
able to keep it in the zone and the Wildcats
now will control it. That's sent toward the goal getting
us take on it was Isaac Connelly. He chipped it
toward the net, but it went on to a subrew
player Stick Suber right back the other way. Quick chance
and hugging that post on the near side. Was meeting
stopped it and it goes in behind the goal. Is

(30:13):
letting it go? Is Chase Mundon London has a goal
in this game, his ninth of the year, And we'll
have a stoppage now and a face off with two
minutes eight seconds to go in the opening twenty minutes. Again,
a reminder coming up in the first intermission, I'll have
a chat.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
With Sam Fosser.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Sam is the Cape Breton Eagles Maritimes scout here today
taking in the action between Subaru and the Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
I won't.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Put the pressure on Sam by asking him specifically who
he's here watching, but I will ask him kind of
the generalities of what's involved in being a scout and
what kind of things you're looking for off the face
off controlled by Subrus, sending it.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
Down in behind the goal.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
With Scotland, there's a pass trying to set up Osmond
in the slot. Osmond an affiliate player up from the
Voyagers of the U fifteen League. Now a couple of
players jousting in behind the goal. Puck still in the
Wildcat zone. Back it comes to Henryette the left point.
He floats it through that hit the leg of Jeremy Wilson,

(31:22):
who just stuck out the left leg and blocked it.
Now Wildcats back the other way, floated in toward the goal.
Cole stops it there, puts it in behind his own goal.
Handley gets it. Wilson from the right point let a
shot go. Will Cole wasn't quite sure where that Wilson
point shot was, but it ends up being out of
play and we'll have a stoppage now with just a

(31:43):
minute twenty six to go.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
It's been a pretty good action packed first period of play.
Each team with a goal.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Hunter Hood for the Wildcats, Chase London for Subaru, face
off to the left of Coal in the Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Zone and a clean.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Face off win there for Ryan from Subaru. He'll flip
it up toward the red line. Wildcats will stop it there.
Jesse Sinclair tried to meet it along the nearboards. Now
Semen takes it into the Wildcatscus me into the Subaru zone
and the puck will be in the corner on this
near side. Semen has it from the right point. He'll

(32:24):
tight rope along the blue line, sends it to the
quick shot there, say Claire, let it go big safe Rebeck.
Cole gets another piece. Couple of big chances in front
from the Wildcats and it was all started by Semen
at the right point.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
Who has it again.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Sinclair was all around that puck in front of the
goal as well as Fletcher and Force. So a couple
of big chances to maybe three point blank, and Cole
and his super teammates kept the puck out half a
minute to go, still won one. Semen again, his shot
go wide of the goal on the near side of

(33:01):
the glove side, and cold down point blank, Cole just
robbed Nolan Fletcher from about seven feet to his blockers side.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Will Cole with a ten bell save.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Early season, in the games I've covered so far, there's
such good talent in this league, but for me, it's
the quality of goaltending across all these teams that has
really stood out. There's some really outstanding goaltenders in this
Nova Scotia U eighteen Major Hockey League, and it was
on display that last sequence there with Will cole all

(33:42):
the way down the ice. That's gonna be an icing.
So with just fourteen point eight seconds left in the period,
the Valley Wildcats will have an offensive zone face off
air referee making sure that Shoebru don't change any players.
When you hoist the puck, you got to keep the
same per Samela on the ice, so the face off

(34:02):
will be to the right of Will cole Man. It's
cleanly won by Subru and picked up by Liam Duffy,
Duffy leading scorer in the league with fifteen points all
assists for the Subaru defenseman.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
He is an assist machine and the buzzer sounds.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
And that will lend the first period of play, so
a good one. Lots of action, little physicality, some edge
to both teams.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
So one period done.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
It's Steel Subru one and the visitors Valley Wildcats one.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
We'll step aside.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
For a moment, but when we come back, I'll chat
with Katee brett Eagle's maritime Scout Sam Foster, Elder.

A welcome back to the Zatsman Sports Blocks. After twenty
minutes of play, Steele Suberu and the visiting Valley Wildcats
tied one to one. Really please to be joined by
Sam Foster. Sam is the Maritimes scout for the Cape
Bretton Eagles of the Quebec Maritimes Major Hockey League. Sam,
thanks for taking the time to join us here. Just
your thoughts overall on that first twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
I thought it was very competitive.

Speaker 6 (35:29):
They're both quick teams, lots of competition out there and
a little bit of skill.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Gold Ender's making some saves, so good game it is.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Indeed, I won't put you on the spot and ask
you specifically if there's anyone you're watching, but in general,
what types of things in your role with the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Are you looking for when you come out and watch
teams play?

Speaker 6 (35:50):
The first three things I look for every time are skating,
compete in hockey, since actually hockey sent and compete, and
then skating for me.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
I know, covering minor hockey.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Over the last couple of decades, you know, I've seen
such an improvement in the skill level in off ice training,
in skill training, and the players have gotten bigger and better.
What are some of the biggest changes you've seen at
this level over your time watching hockey.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
Well, I think kids just they're they're doing it year round.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
As compared to years ago, you've only done it so
months a year, so many months a year.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
They have better.

Speaker 6 (36:33):
Training, they're better training and the kids have they eat better,
they train better, you know, So it's definitely come a
long way.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
When I was first in broadcasting, I worked with Eastling
Television and I was for my first two years were
down in Cape Bretton in the early two thousands and
I covered the Cape Bretton Eagles and it was such
a great organization to be around.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
The community loved them so much. What does it mean
to you to be a part of the Cape Bretton
Eagles franchise. Oh.

Speaker 6 (37:01):
I love working for the Eagles. You know, the organization
from top to bottom. I mean we're all we're like family.
Like I can call the GM, we can talk you know, personally,
or you know, the fans they're just they're true Eagle fans.
I mean they're Kate Bretner's and they're Eagle fans and
they love their team and it's an easy place to work.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Without getting into too much detail, you mentioned the things
that you're looking for as a scout, but when you're
talking to the Eagles GM or any of the staff,
what kind of questions do they ask you? Do they
want you to expand on the things you talked about,
or do they have maybe other specifics that they want
to know as well? Well?

Speaker 6 (37:42):
The higher up sauce all you, the GMS and the
assistant gms. They also watch quite a bit hockey themselves,
so they have a fair idea. Maybe not as in
depth as I do, but they asked a lot of questions.
And I mean it's the same old, same old. You
want a kid that compete, You want a kid that's
you know, you know, he's he can skate and he

(38:05):
can think the game and you.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
Know that's Those are the things they asked me. We'll
wrap up with you here in a second.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Sam I commented in the first intermission that so far
in the early season, there's a lot of really good
talents in the Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey League, but
it's been the goaltending that has stood out for me,
some really good quality goaltending at this level. From your perspective,
why do you think that the goaltending game in this
league has improved to the point now where every team

(38:34):
has a couple of really great goalis.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
I don't know. I guess they're just training properly. There's
better trainers.

Speaker 6 (38:39):
Nowadays, and there's so much more for them. I mean,
I mean, I mean to me, goaltending is mostly between
the head. I mean, the skills are one thing, but
you've got to have that certain bit inside, and it
seems like whoever's training them nowadays is making them more
focused and that's a big thing.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Last thing for you, over your time, whether it's been
scouting or just watching the game at the Nova Scotia
a teen Major Hockey League level, is there a player
that pops to mind that you were watching that when
you see where they've gone now the next level, whatever
level that is, that you think I knew watching that
player back then that they were going to become this
what player if any pops to mind.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Well, that's a hard one.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
Well, just recently a guy like Jacob Hartland, you know,
like he's where he started.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
He was an average skater his first year and he
spent so.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
Much time working on it and now skating's not an issue,
it's actually a strength and I think he's going to
be a good player for us.

Speaker 4 (39:41):
Well.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
Sam Foster, listen, we appreciate you taking the time to
join us around the broadcast. Always interesting to get the
insights from a scout's point of view, and wish you
lots of luck scouting the rest of the year, and
of course lots of luck to the Cape Brighton Eagles
as well. Thank you very much, been a pleasure. That
is Sam Foster. He's the Maritimes scout for the CA.
Bretton Eagles of the Quebec Maritime Major Hockey League and

(40:03):
we certainly appreciate his time here.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
This afternoon, we'll take a quick break step aside.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
After one period of play, Steal Subrew and Valley Wildcats
tied one one.

Speaker 7 (40:13):
Workwater, a clean energy drink using natural flavors, sparkling water
and natural caffeine the Boost without the chemicals.

Speaker 5 (40:22):
Workwater made in New Brunswick.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Back with you at the Zatsman Sportsplex. Second period just
about to start. Big thank you to Sam Foster, the
maritime scout for the KPE Branton Eagles, for joining me
in the first in a mission. Two goals in that
first period Jesse Sinclair for the Valley Wildcats and Chase

(40:47):
Munden fort Steal subrew teams have switch ends. Now Steal
subrew and their powder blue with dark blue and white
trim now skating my left to right, and the Valley
Wildcats in their dark red with the blue and white
trim now skating right to left. Aaron Meeten in goal
for Valley and we'll Cole the netminder for Subaru cuck

(41:14):
in the subrew zone. We are even strength five skaters
aside as we begin this second period, just underway, Wildcats
in front of the goal trying to make a move
down low. That was number eight Nolan Fletcher, and then
the puck ends up going over the goal off the
netting and we'll have a stoppage, so just thirty two

(41:41):
seconds played in this second period of a one to
one tie. These teams separated by just two points in
the standings. Wildcats with twelve points, Subaru with ten subrew
do have a game in hand, face off in the
zone and they'll control off the face off, working up

(42:04):
that right side with Brendan Smith.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
Smith into the zone.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
He's got some help with him and he sends a cross.
Iyce tried to connect with McDonald who was heading toward
the front of the goal, but it's broken up and
the Wildcat's working in a neutral ice. Carver over skated
the puck and the Wildcats will look to work it
out with Conley. It goes past him, and then trying
to get in on that puck was Morgan fleming now
Conley tried to make a move around the defenseman Sinclair.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
That didn't work.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
Wildcats stay on that puck though, and then subreu able
to clear it up to the red line, jumping on
it quickly as land Land with a cross, Eyes passed.

Speaker 4 (42:40):
Right back quick shot. There is letting it go.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
Was Mndon on the beautiful feed as it came from
the left boards in front and Mndon again skating toward
the slot, got a backhander away and sent it just wide.
So a couple of good chances for Subaru, both off
the stick of their goalscorer in this game, Chase Mundon.
He's got nine goals on the air and came close

(43:04):
to number ten. Down into the zone, it goes. There's
Arnold now gathering it up for the Wildcats. He'll flip
it out over the blue line. Sinclair sends it right
back in and Sinclair will go for a change. Wildcats
in their own zone with Hickey trying to get it
past London. Now he'll get some help from Sam Stoddard.
Stoddard sends it up to the left side. Wildcats will

(43:26):
send that puck out of the zone. It's a race
for it now as trying to jump past his man
was Eric Hanley. Hanley has it down low. Eric Hanley
being watched closely there by Ethan Burgess pucking behind the
Subaru goal. Wildcats jump on. Unty'll come back to the
point and it jumped over the stick of Lucas Arnold

(43:47):
and Arnold will gather and turn sending it right back
into the Subaru zone. Couldn't get it past Oliver Scotland,
who'll send it out? Lead pass up ahead, trying to
connect with Keen Osmond Osmond. Puck went past him. Chased
after it though, Subru get to that puck quick chance,
there is backhanding. It was Brian Subru's staying on the puck.

(44:09):
Now in the wildcat zone. There's a shot from a
sharp angle, letting it go with sparks for Subaru.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
Another shot from the left point.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
They score bodies in front. The shot came in from Poplinski.
The Subru taptain over on the left point. Subaru were buzzing,
had the puck in the wildcat zone. It came back
to Poplinsky and he let it go through a crowd
in front and it finds its way in behind Aaron

(44:38):
Meaden and Popplinsky has goal number eight and the Subaru
have their first lead of the game. So good pressure
buy Subaru. And it came back again to Poplinsky at
that left point and the Subaru captain just let it

(45:01):
go and it found a way through traffic in front
and it's two to one Subaru. So captain Poplinsky with
the goal. Subru right back into the Wildcats zone, spinning
around there was Carver.

Speaker 4 (45:16):
Subar is staying on that goal.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
They're announcing the Paplinsky goal now as Subaru buzzing again.
So Osmond and Sparks get the assists on the Paplinsky goal.
Subru pressing again. Sixteen twenty three to go in this

(45:40):
second period even strength hockey. Here, Duffy sends it in
behind the net all the way around the boards. Now
it comes back outside the blue Live Duffy. We'll just
flip it up into the air and steal. Subru will
change their personnel. Valley Wildcats trying to get it out
of their own zone, comes to the blue line on
this near seman couldn't get it out right back in

(46:02):
on that puck was Travis Tromblay, and the puck just
kind of rolled a bit ahead of Tromblay and into
the waiting hands of Aaron Meaden and he just smothers
that puck and we'll have a face off. So Poplinsky
with his eighth of the year, and it's two to one.

(46:27):
Subrow again, Subra with their first lead of the game.
They don't post the shots on goals, so I'm not
able to update you there, but it is two to
one Subrew fifteen forty three to go in the second period.
Now Conley from a sharp agle ad scores.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
The captain. Excuse me, Sinclair, not Conley.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Jesse Sinclair, the captain of the Wildcats, streaking down the
left side and took that shot him kind of a
sharp angle and it found a way. There was some
help at the side of the goal, but it sneaks
in the fur post behind the goaltender Coal and Jesse Sinclair.

Speaker 4 (47:16):
Has his third of the year.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
And the Wildcats get right back into a tie. So
Sinclair with his third and we're tied again to two,

(47:41):
and Luke Force getting the loan assist on that Sinclair goal.
Here comes Sinclair again down that same side. Sinclair try
to feed it over to Nolan Fletcher now right back
the other way. London quickly in transition tries to Todra.
Following up is McDonald's sharp angle backhander and into the

(48:04):
mid section of the goaltender Meidan and he makes the
say but a good rush there in transition from Subrew.
First it was Mondon and then play was followed up.
So with fourteen fifty two to go, we'll have a
face off in the Wildcat zone. It'll be to the
left of the goaltender, Aaron Meaden off the face off

(48:31):
Scotland trying to keep it in there on the boards
near side, but the Wildcats will send it down into
the subrew zone where it's picked up by Henry Henry
being watched closely there by Morgan Fleming who was in
on the fore check, and subru will bring it down
the right side. Scotland tried to feed across Heister Ryan,
but it went off the heel of a stick and
up and out of play. Ster Miner coming up in

(48:57):
the second intermission, I'll have a chat with Dave Tebow,
the maritime scout for the Monk and Wildcats lead pass.

Speaker 8 (49:04):
London in a load bag save by meeting as Mndon
bangs his stick off the boards. Chase Mondon a beautiful
breakaway pass.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
He was in the clare and skated in towards the goaltender,
got a decent shot away and needing coming out to
the top of the blue ice to challenge the shooter.
Mndon makes a glorious ten bell saved and it stays
two to two and Mndon, frustrated, banging his stick not

(49:36):
once but twice on the boards in frustration. Won't get
many more of a clear breakaway chance than that, but
the goaltender standing his ground, Aaron Mead with a beautiful save,
down to fourteen oh one to play, as we have
him whistle now and the face off will be in

(49:56):
the Wildcat zone. Thank you for so face off to
the right of meeting. It'll be Sparks and on the
face off up against Carrigan and the Subaru control point
shot from the left side as Poplinski let it go,

(50:19):
but it deflects off the stick and up and out
of play. So we'll reset and do it again. Just
a few seconds come off the clock after that last
face off, so face off will be in the same
area to the right of the goaltender meeting and once
again it'll be Sparks for Subaru. This time it's Sinclair

(50:41):
for Wildcats, and again it's Subru who control off the
face off. That shot gets floated in again from the
left side, and that went into a Wildcats player slow
to get up his number twelve, Jeremy Wilson as he
took that point shot into perhaps an uncomfortable area, and
he's labor now as he heads to the bench so

(51:02):
we'll keep an eye on number twelve Jeremy Wilson. Meanwhile,
play comes back to the right point. Duffy puts a
shot through pinballs off a couple of Wildcats sticks and
Valley able to clear it out of the zone. Pucked
off the boards to the red line. Puck is loose
and Subru will jump on it and sending it into

(51:22):
the zone with Sam Ryan chased after it, but Wildcats
will pick it up with Jesse Sinclair sending across ice
into neutral ice picked up by McFee for Subru. Now
Ryan into the Wildcat's zone. Ryan just gets out of
the way of a hit from Max Hanley. As Hanley
had Ryan lined up. Ryan saw it coming at the

(51:44):
last minute and pirouetted out of the way of the
oncoming freight train with the number seventy seven on its back.
Max Hanley down to twelve fifty nine to go. In
period number two. Teams exchange goals in the first. They've
exchanged goals here in the second, face off to the

(52:08):
left of meeting scramble draw and it'll be picked up
there as Seamen tried to backhand it away and it
goes out of play, So stop and start action here
as we'll have another face off same area to the
left of meeting in the Wildcats end of the ice

(52:29):
and Brian gets tossed out of the faceoff dot taking
his place as Travis trombway. Another scramble draw kicked over
to the boards there by Stoddard for the Wildcats and Valley.
Now we'll pick it up in their own zone. Good
four check coming from subru here. Puck pinned in the
corner in that fireside works along the wall and the

(52:50):
Wildcats will bring it out now with Amos Sinclair Stoddard
try to settle that pocket. Comes to the red line. Ryan,
we'll send it down the Wildcats zone. Getting air first
was Hickey for the Wildcats, and now the Wildcats will
come out with Amos Sinclair. The two tens come together,
Sinclair and McPhee. Puck comes loose for a moment and

(53:13):
Sue Brew Now nice outlet past to Brian. Brian has
Ryan with him, tries to get it over to Ryan
and the pass went off behind the goal. Ryan jumps
on it, comes out from behind the goal line, puts
a shot in meet and saves it, and then Brian
was right in on top of the Wildcats goaltender. Then
we get some shoving after the whistle, so nothing will

(53:37):
come of that. Both teams will get fresh lines out
on the ice. We're now down to twelve oh five
to play in the second period, two two year score.

Speaker 4 (53:46):
Glad to have you.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
With us on the Firm Foundation Media or Radio network
on a Sunday afternoon. Hockey going on, of course, Major
League Baseball playoffs going on. Jay's with a big game
one victory over the Yankees ten one yesterday to take
a one game to zero lead in the best of five.
But it's hockey right now. We can worry about baseball
later on. Down to eleven forty six to go, Hood

(54:13):
had the puck along the boards, gets it back to
Arnold and he tight ropes along the blue line, takes
a long shot in. There were a few bodies in front,
but it goes right into the Subaru crest on the
front of Will Cole's jersey and the super goal he
makes to say, and we'll have a face off. Eleven

(54:33):
forty one to go, second period, face off to the
right of Coal in the subrew zone, Conley and on
the draw four Valley Wildcats, and we're waiting. Looks like
it's going to be Brendan Smith in there and off

(54:55):
the face off Wildcats. We'll control Isaac Conley backhanded into
the zone, but right back the other way. In transition
this is Scotland puts on the brakes along the half
wall nearside. Scotland cuts into the circle into the middle.
Got a shot away that hit a skate in front.
Good effort though by Scotland and Wildcats will clear the puck.

(55:15):
That'll twist and turn all the way down into the
subrew zone. Wildcats getting some changes in here as subrew
will bring it up from behind their own net. Lifted
well up ahead, just beyond the reach of the Subaru
player in on the puck was Carver Subrew trying to
get that puck again. Carver was looking for it. But

(55:37):
the Wildcats will bring it out with Carrigan Bradon. Carrigan
sends it down and that'll be icing against the Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (55:45):
So no changes for the lads in red.

Speaker 3 (55:48):
They'll have you go down and have a face off
in their own zone as the subrew. Now we'll have
an offensive zone face off. Burgess settles in for the draw.
He'll go up again. It's number sixteen, Lucas Arnold. Excuse me,
number seventeen, Brandon Carrigan, I'm off the face off. It

(56:09):
goes into the corner. Wildcats will work it out now
Betts gets it up ahead. That was excuse me, Jeremy
Wilson down in the corner Wildcat's trying.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
To control in along the boards.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
Was Carrigan for the Wildcats coming over throwing his weight
around as Eric Hanley for the Wildcats. Now Paplinsky back
hands it in behind his own net sub route trying
to get out of their zone, but Eric Handley keeps
it in. Hanley takes a push there from Duffy and
the puck will be skated out of the zone and

(56:41):
the Wildcats watch now as Tromblay sends it down into
the Wildcat's zone. Hanley takes a big hit from Tromlay
and down goes Wildcat's defender back the other way. Wildcats
send it into the subaru zone. Steele subrou pick it

(57:02):
up that pass, trying to connect with Duffy. Duffy gets
tangled up there as he got all twisted together with
Nate Betts. Both of those players went down and the
puck will come back into the Wildcats zone on it
now is Hickey for the Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (57:17):
Hickey gives way to Jacob Semen.

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Semen lumbers with that puck, sends it into the zone,
takes a little hack at Burgess, and Burgess reaching for
that puck in on the four checks Fletcher for the Wildcats,
but Subru with Paplinsky try to work it out al
most of the blue line, but the Wildcats keep it
in and then Luke Force got hit into the boards.

(57:40):
I think the Wildcats fans wanted a penalty call, but
play carries on. Here's a shot as Jesse Sinclair put
it toward the goal from the right surface from the
left circle. Down to nine oh seven to go in
this second period, a two to two game puck out
in front.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
Sinclair is there right.

Speaker 3 (57:56):
In the blue ice trying to push that puck underneath
the goaltender, but Cole firmly planted in place, stops it,
keeps it out and we'll have a stoppage and the
media timeout with nine oh two to go, they'll step aside.
It's two two.

Speaker 5 (58:13):
Elder Dog Canada has spent sixteen years strengthening the bond

Speaker 3 (58:48):
Back underway off the face off puck controlled five while
casting out, trying to get something set up here in
the subaru into the ice. Eight p fifty to go.
There's a shot as Jesse Sinclair let it go from
just in the top of that left face off circle.
Now the puck is into neutral ice as subrew try
to clear it out neutral ice play here, but Jase

(59:11):
Sinclair will grab it at the blue line, make sure
his mates are on side, then brings it into the zone.
Subrew put it right back out. Wildcats have to retreat
back into their own end. That was Max Hanley. Now
to the other side that puck smacks off the glass
to the blue line. Now to the red line where
land we'll just slap it in for the subaru. Wildcats

(59:36):
in behind their own goal. Max Hanley sends it up
along the boards. Brian stops it there for Subru. Brian
gets knocked down. Arnold falls on top of Brian and force.

Speaker 4 (59:47):
Feeds it ahead. Break away chance here for the Wildcats.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Going to the backhand was Stoddard and just lifted it
wide of the goal on the near side to the
blocker hand of Cole, and another long shot comes in
as the Wildcats we're changing, forcing Cole to make an
awkward looking save, but a save nonetheless.

Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
Seven forty two to go.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
As we continue to play at full and even strength,
Subaru on that puck Scotland from the left excuse me
right point, sends it to the left side, bangs off
the boards. A couple of players trying to get control
of that pucket goes underneath Darius pay and Subaru will
keep control. They'll flip it in behind the net. It

(01:00:28):
goes off the boards, comes to the near side. Amoson
Clair takes a nudge there. Asmundon stepped into his man.
Wildcats hemmed in their own zone a little bit now,
but a couple of quick passes work it out as
Stoddard got it up to Amoson Clair Amoson Clair into
the zone, throws Henry into the boards and gets on
the puck. Good shift here from Amoson Clair tried to

(01:00:50):
feed the slot that's broken up and Subaru will bring
it out with some pace into the zone. They go
across the blue line. There's a shot from London as
from the boards on the left wing side, leaned into one.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
And it deflected and goes out of play.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
So down to six fifty to go in the second
period of a two to two tie. So again teams
have exchanged goals, one each in the first, one each
in the second, and we're two to two in the second.

(01:01:29):
Was six to fifty to go as goaltender Chase Mondon
making a couple of adjustments to.

Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
The left pad.

Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
Here he's down referee keeping a close eye as Mundon
looked like he might have been either redoing or tightening
the straps on that left pad. And we're good to go.
Face off to the right of the now pad adjusted,
Aaron Meaden off the face off puck will come into

(01:01:57):
neutral ice jumping on a quickly there number seventy two
Morgan Fleming and that progress from Fleming is stopped and
we'll have a face off down the six forty one
to go face off looks like it's going to come
outside the SUPERU zone. So just outside the blue line

(01:02:21):
in the Superaru zone on the near side lines person
Ready's and off the face off Wildcats will control. Arnold
goes cross ice taking a big hit. There was Jacob Semen.
Seman got knocked down on the ice his stick when
flying and Semen now goes to the bench as the

(01:02:42):
back referee picks up the stick. Connley down the left
side for Valley. Isaac Conley tries to work in but
he'll take a look now. As Sube Brue bringing out
of the zone. Brendan Smith tried to make a move,
but again the puck is up and out of play.
So the free flow of this one has kind of

(01:03:03):
kind of ground to a bit of a halt with
some icings and some pucks out of play. Down to
six thirteen to play in the second period of.

Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
This two two tie.

Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
Face off comes down into the Subaru zone to the
left of goalie will Cole off the face off Wildcats control.
There's Hickey trying to get a shot away that was
blocked by Mundon. Puck goes below the goal line in
the Subaru end of the ice, but Captain Puplinsky will
pick it up for Steele Subru but Plinsky chugging down

(01:03:40):
that right side. He'll flip it over it to the
boards on the fire side, but the Wildcats will get
it out. Hood try to slide it over there to
the waiting stick of Morgan Fleming, but that was broken
up and here comes Brian. Brian has Mundon with him.
Try to get a shot away that hit defenseman Hickey
and goes off into the corner and then pops up
and out play and we'll have another face off here

(01:04:02):
with just five thirty seven to go in this second period.
Scott Squires with you on the firm Foundation Media Radio Network,
glad to have you here. A tilt between a couple
of teams toward the top of the table in the
Nova Scotia you eighteen Major Hockey League Valley Wildcats six

(01:04:23):
three and oh with twelve points steal Subrew five three and.

Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Oher with ten points.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Off the face off in the Wildcat zone. Subrew controls
point shot, blocker away, no problem. They read about chance
and a pad save. Couple of quick chances from Subaru,
a blocker save then a pad save from Meeting. A
couple of big stops there Subrew and again.

Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Here's a chance.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Karver takes a shot, and again Mundon denies a Subaru shooter.

Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
That time it was Carver.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Carver again fed the puck, but it's blocked by the
Wildcats defense, and here come the Wildcats. In transition it's
Carrigan little dipsy do toe drag move into the side
of the goal. Wildcats another chance there, quick shot from Seaman,
who had pinched in, got a good shot away from

(01:05:14):
that right faceoff, Dot and Cole made a save. So
teams with good chances at both ends, but just moments ago,
a couple of great chances in succession from Subaru and
Aaron Meaden answering the call each time, locker save, pad save,

(01:05:35):
mid sections, save, you name it. Aaron Mead has made
the save so far. In the last couple of minutes
of action, off the face off, Jesse Sinclair slid it
across that Max Hanley. His shot went in behind the
Subaru goal. Now Arnold at the red line for Subaru
hounding him, and Arnold tried to feed it ahead but

(01:05:57):
put it out of play. Four minutes thirty eight seconds
left to go in the second period. Stick around in
the second animission. I'm gonna talk to Valley Wildcats head
coach Scott Trast hopefully he can make it in time,
but also the Monk and Wildcats maritime scout Dave Tibo

(01:06:18):
will join us.

Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
Wildcats will send it into the subrew zone with four
thirty to go second period action. Subrew pick it up
in behind their own goal with Ryan. Ryan tries to
work it up along the wall. Wildcats keep it in
and the puck comes free toward the slot area where
it's picked up by Travis Tromblay. Tromblay, from behind his

(01:06:43):
own net, gets it up to Scotland on the airboards.
Oliver Scotland sends across ice. Subrew flood into the.

Speaker 4 (01:06:51):
Zone right in front.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
Big chance there for Travis Tromblay in tight and he
just flipped it wide to the goal. Wildcats in on
the puck there was Max Hanley. He didn't get the puck,
but he put the body into a Subaru player and
then the puck goes all the way down the other
way and Meetan picks it up and then we've got again.

(01:07:13):
After the whistle a little bit of extra activity taking place.
Sam Ryan got knocked down in front of the Wildcat
zone or goal. I should say, nothing gonna come of that,
and down to three forty eight left to play. The
face off will be in the Wildcat zone or the

(01:07:35):
left of Meeting. They don't post the shots on goal,
so I can't tell you what they are, but certainly
Meadan has been tested in the late stages of the
second and again the puck was down low behind the goal,
Subero fitted out in front, and a very aware Aaron

(01:07:56):
Meadan just uses that big catching glove to reach out,
grab the puck, scoop it up and hold on for
a face off. The draw once again will be to
the right of Meeting and the Wildcats control. From the
face off, they'll go around the boards in behind their
own goal, out the other side.

Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
In after the puck.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Now Morgan fleming, he'll watch as Suebru bring it out
of the zone. Here's a chance perhaps now for Brendan
Smith cutting into the middle, cutting wide to the left,
now to the right. Smith got a good sharp angle
shot away, but meeting down the butterfly makes the pad
save good rush there from Subaru. Subaru will gather up

(01:08:41):
that puck in neutral ice with Carver. Carver feeds Duffy.
Duffy from the red line back hands it down into
the Wildcat zone.

Speaker 4 (01:08:49):
Subaru making a change here.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
Under three minutes to play in the second Wilson works
it up to the right side, Morgan Fleming takes it
off the glass down.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
To the Subrew zone and Subrew.

Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Will pick it up deep in their own end. Now
turnover bets that'll drop pass. Wildcats trying to take advantage
of the turnover in the super zone. Nate bets along
the boards, tries to come out and they're gonna say
that was moved with a hand pass, so the Wildcats

(01:09:25):
guilty of the hand pass. The whistle blows and the
face off will come outside the Subaru zone and be
just outside the Subrew blue line, fire side of the ice,
right in front of the Wildcats bench. Jesse Sinclair in
on the draw up against Burgess and Burgess wins the

(01:09:45):
face off for Subrow. They'll control two twenty four to
go in this second period.

Speaker 4 (01:09:50):
Two to two.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Each team has scored a goal in each period. Jacob
Seamen He's logged a lot of ice time for Valley.
He wears number fifty five in red. He watches now
as Subru will have it deep in their own zone,
they'll try to move it along.

Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
Up into neutral ice.

Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
McPhee watches as the puckets stopped at the blue line,
and Force gets it up there onto the stick of
Nolan Fletcher. Fletcher jumps it off to the right side,
and Sinclair had his pocket pick as Fletcher fed it
to Sinclair, but good defense from Suberu covered up.

Speaker 4 (01:10:26):
Now another chance.

Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
Sinclair right on the doorsteps, slides it over to Nolan
Fletcher and it was almost a captain to alternate captain
set up as Sinclair slid it across the Fletcher, but
Subru cover up right in front of their own goal.

(01:10:49):
So a great chance in tight but Subru keep the
puck out and a face off to the left of
the Soubs goalie. Will Cole Wildcats again win that face
off point. Shot from that right point floating in with
Jeremy Wilson. Now the puck in the corner on the
fire side. Suber Ue trying to work it up and out,

(01:11:10):
but it's turned over again. Quick shot from that right
face off circle, and again Will Cole has to be
very aware, and he was, and he just reached out
with the trapper and made the save. To second period

(01:11:32):
action face off again to the left of the sub's goalie,
coal scramble draw puck down below the goal line. Suberru
trying to get out of their own zone. Good four
check pressure though from the Wildcats. And as I say that,
Morgan Fleming was inaggressively on the puck, and as Fleming
was trying to get control of that puck below the

(01:11:54):
goal line in the superu into the ice, the referee's
arm went up and it's going to be a hole
holding call, so shaking his head is number seventy seven,
Max Hanley, excuse me seven, not seventy seven. So it's
Isaac Connelly to the penalty box, so holding the call,

(01:12:15):
Connolly to the box. And with one eighteen to go
in the period, it's a power play for Subaru. So
the Wildcats opened up the scoring. In period one, Subrew
tied it and then Subrew took the lead. In period two,
Wildcats tied it. So the teams have taken turns with

(01:12:39):
the lead. But we're two to two here. But now
the Wildcats have a penalty to kill and just one
thirteen to go in the second period, so Subreu power
play with one thirteen to go. So if nothing happens
on this power play, there will be a chunk of

(01:13:01):
power play time that will carry over into the third period.
For Subaru, fase off to the left of meat and
clean win. For Subru. Duffy walks along the blue line,
slides across ice. They'll feed it down low. Subru working
here setting up on the power play. Ryan Watch is
getting some four check pressure there from Jesse Sinclair file

(01:13:23):
minute of play, second period, one thirty seven to go.

Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
In the power play, Cross's Popplinsky down to.

Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
An ee a La Alexovichkin and had the puck go
off the heel of a stick into the boards. Duffy,
now down low from the right boards, gets it back
to Paplinsky, I should say, gets it back to Duffy.
His shot went off of skating behind the goal. Subru
setting up again. Poplinsky will chase it along the boards
near side. Paplinsky try to feed it to the middle,

(01:13:51):
but the Wildcats intercept and they'll take a little pressure
off and send it down into the goal where will
Cole will stop it there and send his mates away.
Subaru coming in. Now, Duffy, he'll just flip it down
into the Wildcat zone. Just a baker's dozen seconds to
go in the period. Now ten seconds Wildcats trying to

(01:14:12):
keep this puck pinned in the corner.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
Over on the far side. Subrou come off the wall
in front.

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Poplinsky was pinching in and had the puck come to
him as he was just getting to the top of
the blue ice. And again Poplinsky just had the puck
go underneath the blade of his stick and it goes
to the boards. The horns sounds, so a big chance
at the buzzer for Poplinsky and Subaru, but the puck

(01:14:39):
stays out, So forty two seconds left in the penalty
to Isaac Connolly. The power play time will carry over
into period number three. So after two periods of play,
Valley Wildcats and Steal Subru tied to a piece.

Speaker 4 (01:14:56):
We'll step aside for a moment, but when we come back, I'll.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Have a chat with the maritime scout for the Monkton
Wildcats of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League. Wildcats Subru
to two after two.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
A welcome back to the Zatsman Sportsplex. Second intermission after
forty minutes, the Valley Wildcats and the Home Side Steel
subru tied to a piece. Very pleased to be joined
by Dave Tbo. Dave is the maritime scout for the
Monk and Wildcats. We'll talk about your scouting life in
a minute day, but first off, your.

Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
Thoughts through forty h good high fought gain.

Speaker 9 (01:15:57):
Looks like there's a, you know, a lot of action
around the lines and you know they're battling for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
I had kpe Breton Eagles maritime scout Sam Foster on
the first dimission. I asked him specifically what are things
he's looking for as a scout for the Eagles. So Dave,
same question to you, What types of things specifically are
you looking for for the Monk and Wildcats when you're
scouting these players.

Speaker 9 (01:16:22):
So we're certainly looking for good character kids. I mean,
you know, that's foremost is a good character player. The
second thing is, of course, I mean, you know, physicality
and skating. I mean, the game in the few MGHL
is so tough today and you've got to be a

(01:16:43):
really good skater. So that's one of the some of
those things.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
That we're looking at.

Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
So the last number of years, covering both you fifteen
and U eighteen, I've made the comments several times that
they grow them really big these days. What do you
make of the size of some of these players who
are sixteen, seventeen, eighteen years old.

Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
Well, I mean you're certainly right.

Speaker 9 (01:17:03):
I mean you have some you know, you have some
fifteen year olds out here that are six foot one,
six foot two, six foot three. So there's certainly some
good stock in there somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
So that's right. I'm originally for New FLA. That's something
my mom would have had some good stock in the DNA.
What are some of the biggest changes you've seen in
this level of hockey over the years, whether it's the
training that they do, the equipment, you know, the eating habits,
the training, But for you, what are some of the
biggest changes and developments.

Speaker 4 (01:17:34):
That you've seen. And the big change in development is fitness.

Speaker 9 (01:17:40):
These players are are extremely fit, and the players are
taking seriously work on their fitness off the ice, you know,
they're working on their speed and agility, and certainly in
the next level. I mean speed and agility. Fitnesses are
the key key components of making a player.

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
It's interesting you mentioned about, you know, the food they eat.
I like to talk to players about what their game
day meals are and what they like to eat. But
I almost am shy now to ask them about eating
snacks because most players.

Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Now they try to stay away from it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
I interviewed Logan Tree when defenseman for the Max the
other day and I asked them, I said, you know, when.

Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
You're not training or playing, you know what snack?

Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
And it was yogurt And I thought to myself, that's
a pretty healthy snack. I would have been grabbing a
Snickers bar in a bag of chips. But again, just
from your point of view, your perspective, why do you
think there's been such an evolution in what players put
in their body.

Speaker 9 (01:18:32):
It's because the game has gone so fast. I mean,
the game is so fast today that you need to
be fit, and what you're putting in your body and
how you're developing your body are some of the key aspects.
If you're not doing it, everyone else is doing it,
so you're falling behind.

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Last thing I'll ask you is about the franchise that
you're involved with, The Monkton Wildcats, a great organization in
the Quebec Maritime Major Hockey League, a great season last year.
They want to build on that, of course, but what
does it mean to you and what is it like
being involved with the Monk and Wildcats organization?

Speaker 9 (01:19:06):
I mean, the Monk and Wildcats organization's professional organization starts
with the top, you know, mister irving Is loves his
team and provides every aspect for his players, you know,
and then we have our GM Taylor McDougall, our head coach,
Gardner McDougal. I mean, they're constant concert professionals who excel

(01:19:27):
every day. So our organization to me is I'm proud
to be associated and of course last year we're the
league champions and proud of that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
So well, we wish you continued success the rest of
this season, and we really appreciate you taking some time
to join us here in the intermission.

Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
No problem, take care of have a great day you
as well.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
That is Dave tbo Daves, the maritime scout for the
Monkton Wildcats. He's watching a good one here. The Valley
Wildcats and the home side Steeve Suber are tied to too.
After two, we'll step aside. You're listening to the firm
Foundation Media Radio network.

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
Back with you at the Zatsman Sportsplex in Dartmouth for
this third period of the Nova Scotia eighteen Major Hockey
League game between the visitors Valley Wildcats and the home
side as Steele Subaru two to two. After two, both
teams have enjoyed the lead, both teams have had their moments,

(01:20:47):
both goaltenders have played well, and we are underway in
period three. And immediately the puck down into the Wildcats
zone and it's flipped out as Meeting, the Wildcat's goalie
came out to meet that. Teams have changed ends steal
Subaru the home side wearing their powder blue with dark
blue and white trim, now going right to left, skating

(01:21:07):
wise and for the Valley Wildcats wearing their red with
black and white trim, now skating my left to right
puck in the Valley Wildcat zone. Tried to put it
into the slot from the corner. There was a quick
shot in a pad save and a good one as
Paplinsky from the right side got a good low shot
away and Meeting kicked out that right pad made a

(01:21:29):
nice save. Wildcats making a change here. We are now
back to even strength. There was a little bit of
power play time for Subru that carried over, but we
are back to five on five even strength hockey Hare
Fleming has the puck in his own zone for Valley,
takes it off the glass and it'll go into neutral
ice where it's picked up by Land for subrew Land

(01:21:52):
gets it right back, he'll feed it up ahead trying
to make a move through traffic was Brendan Smith and Subaru.

Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
We'll for check it now.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
As the Wildcats try to move out of their own end,
Isaac Connelly crossed the red line darts off to the
left wing side. He took a quick shot from the
left circle and getting a stick on.

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
That was the goaltender Cole for Subaru.

Speaker 3 (01:22:15):
We were hoping to speak with head coach Scott Trask
from Valley, but I'm sure with the tightness of the
game he wanted to have an extra long conversation with
his team as well. Where I'm situated is completely over
the opposite side of where the dressing room and the
players benches, so probably wouldn't have had much time after

(01:22:38):
his chat to come over. So we'll look to chat
with coach Trask another time. But we certainly appreciate the
scout Dave Tibo from the Monk and Wildcats coming on
board and having a chat with us. Interesting to hear
the perspective of those two scouts, Sam Foster from the
Eagles in period one and Dave Tebo from the Wildcats.

(01:23:00):
It's in period two, big bumple on the boards in
the Wildcat zone. Two minutes played here in period two,
still to two. Your score even strength hockey as Carver
got twisted up with his man bets. Both of those
players went down to the ice play carries right on
down in the corner on that far side. Lucas Arnold

(01:23:22):
hammers it around the boards that goes down into the
subar zone, no icing. So subrew comes back with Mndon
quickly cuts to the middle of London with a shot
trying to go top shelf and meeting read it the
whole way, but just a great play by Chase Mundon
as he took the puck on the left wing, made

(01:23:42):
a nice little move to put on the brake, shed
the defender, cuts into the middle, got a nice slot
shot away and Chase excuse me. Aaron Meaden makes the
nice glove save. Quality play though, good move from London.
Mundon on the puck again with an other quick shot
almost from the same area on the ice, and again

(01:24:04):
Aaron Meaden, flashing the leather says uh uh, nope, not
this time. London has a goal in this game, his ninth.
That was the tying goal for the Subrew back in
period one. Now Amos Sinclair down the left side. Sinclair
has Darius Pay with him. Pay first of that puck

(01:24:27):
down below the goal in behind the Subero net. A
couple of players now in trying to move that puck along.
Henry is there, but it's pay who will watch now.
As the puck goes back to that right point, Seamen
banks it off the wall, Pay right in front, lost
his stick, picks it back up as the Subaru come
right back the other way. In transition, Subaru cross ice,

(01:24:49):
Ryan from the left circle across ice pads and a
beauty and Ryan dashing down the left wing side, walked
into it, got a great shot and again goaltender Meeting
says no face off will be in the wildcat zone

(01:25:12):
to the right of Meeting. Again, they don't post shots
on goal. I couldn't find them post it online. But
both goalies have been tested. But I would say probably
the higher percentage scoring chances or the more dangerous scoring
chances have come from Subru and Meetan has been good.
Both goalies have been good, but I think it's fair

(01:25:35):
to say Meaden has been tested with more difficult shots
a couple of times more than goal. Subru trying to
slide it over in front again to the on rushing
Keen Osmond Osmond de Aphilia player up from the Voyagers
has played well. They start talking about playing well. That
puck was fed right into the slot and Ohwen Sparks

(01:25:56):
just down to a knee, leans into the one timer
and snaps it from about sixteen feet in front of
the goal, and Owen Sparks has his third of the year,
and the Steel Subaru lead it three to two. Sparks

(01:26:20):
wide open in the slot and was saucered a beauty
of a pass and he just leaned into it, down
to the knee and in behind Meeting and Subaru on
home ice have the lead. Here they come again with
a chance breaking down that right side and Meeting equal

(01:26:42):
to the task as the Subaru just after scoring, coming
with another chance. That time it was Max Bryan dashing
down the right wing side and getting a good shot
away off the face off Valley flips it out. They're

(01:27:09):
announcing these Sparks bal Carver with an assist. So the
affiliate who I was talking about when the goal was
scored Osmond with an assist. Carver with an assist, and
Sparks has the go ahead. Murker now Wildcats trailing once again.

Speaker 4 (01:27:32):
Here's a chance. One timer. Wanna save a strong on
the rebound.

Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
Hood scored on the rebound, but the initial chance was
Isaac Conley point blank. Conley was fed the puck from
down low right in front of the subreu goal. His
one time chance point blank was stopped beautifully by Cole.

Speaker 4 (01:27:55):
But then right there to follow.

Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
Up was Hunter Hood, who has his second of the game,
fifth of the year. And the supero lead is short lived.
They're just announcing that goal. Now we'll see who pick.

Speaker 4 (01:28:11):
Up the assists.

Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
So the assist go to Isaac Connelly and Morgan Fleming.
So Hood with his second has put the Wildcats back
on even terms again and the point blank chances in
front both teams. I'm sure coaches will be talking about
defensive zone coverage after this one, where both teams have

(01:28:40):
had moments where players have been wide open in the
slot in front of the opponent's goal. Sue Brew now
with Henry flipped it down to the zone, took a
couple of hits and play carries on streaking into the
zone trying to break in. There was Max Hanley. He

(01:29:00):
gets up ended, goes into the boards behind the goal.
Handley's still down, Clay carries on. I think the Wildcats
fans were looking for a penalty called none coming and
Brian little skate the stick move there, feeds it in
front for the on rushing London off to the right side.
That shot goes off a stick into the corner back
to the left point, but Plinsky just keeps it in there,

(01:29:21):
flips it ahead. Brian tried to get a stick on
it at the Wildcats. We'll clear it out. Burgess sends
it over to Duffy. Duffy turns takes it off the
boards and the Wildcats will regroup in their own end.
But Plinsky, again in neutral ice, just sauces it up
into the air, meeting out of his own goal, flips
it around and subrus send it right back in thirteen

(01:29:44):
forty one to go in the third period. All kinds
of things happening here in period three and we are
tied now three to three. So both teams to this
point have scored one goal each in each period. As
that shot goes up and over the goal off the
stick of Arnold for the Wildcats. So that most recent

(01:30:06):
goal from hunter Hood his second of the game, his
fifth of the year, assists going to Connolly and Handley
or excuse me, I'm fleming off the face off. Face
off win for the Wildcats. They try to work it

(01:30:27):
in kept him just at the blue line by Arnold.
That puck deflected in towards the goal. It was knocked
down and the Wildcats seamen has it at the red line,
sends it in, bounces dangerously. Cole had to go down
into the butterfly and take that off the pads. Now
trying to break free was McDonald. He gets turned aside
and the Wildcats send it down. They'll take it behind

(01:30:51):
their own goal, do.

Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
The super route.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
The goal scorer Sparks watches now as Paplinsky skates up
that left side, sends it high into the air. It
bounces into the corner. Jumping on the puck quickly there
is Sparks. Sparks gets pinned into the boards by Lucas Arnold.
Puck comes free. Subru tried to work it toward the
front of the net and lots of bodies in front there.

(01:31:15):
Sparks takes a shove. McDonald's out there, Osmond doing some
good work now land for Subaru try to clear it out,
getting a stick on it to keep it in. There
was Braden Carrigan, but Subrou able to clear it out,
Semen has it in neutralized, Semen tries to work.

Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
It into his own hill.

Speaker 3 (01:31:40):
Just flip it down, Subru making a change here, twelve
oh seven to go. In this third period of a
three to three tie, teams have exchanged goals in each period.
Here's Brian down the left boards, tried to get a
shot through and that hit Max Hanley. Excuse me, Jacob Semen,
and then Seman took a little shot for his trouble,

(01:32:01):
and then we get a meeting of the minds down
behind the Valley Wildcats goal. Good job by the officials
to get in quickly and break that up. Down to
eleven fifty seven to go in this third period, it's
a three three tie. Valley Wildcats and Subaru Valley let
it one nothing, Subru tied it up, Subrew let it

(01:32:24):
two to one, Valley tied it up, Subrew let it
three to two, Valley.

Speaker 4 (01:32:28):
Tied it up.

Speaker 3 (01:32:29):
It's kind of been that back and forth pendulum swing
of momentum and lead changes that's kind of been the
story of this one. It's been a good game between
these two teams who are toward the top of the table.
In the Nova Scotia U eighteen Major Hockey League eleven
fifty seven to go face off to the right of
the Wildcat's net.

Speaker 4 (01:32:50):
Wildcats will control off the draw.

Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Hickeye sends it around the boards to the blue line,
not out kept in smartly there by McPhee took a
quick shot from the boards on that side and a
good saved by meeting. Now Jesse Sinclair gets it up ahead.
Trying to feed the puck back to Sinclair was Luke Force.
Saint Clair now down low getting pushed into the boards
by Sam Ryan. Puck hops up into the air. Trying

(01:33:16):
to grab it. Over on that far side was Nolan Fletcher.
Loose puck comes along the boards to the blue line,
just keeping in over there was Cameron Hickey for the Wildcats.
Now Jesse Sinclair tries to send it in deep. Saint
Clair jumps on that puck again. Sinclair all over the
ice on this shift twenty three in red and the
captain of the Wildcats puck out to Sinclair. Sinclair gets

(01:33:45):
spun around now Land in his own zone sends it
up into neutral ice. Puck was at the red line.
Wildcats send it right back in. Good outlet pass for
Smith on subru from the left Wing cuts to the middle,
Smith gets pushed off the puck. There good defensive play

(01:34:07):
by number twenty one hunter Hood. Hood's got a couple
of goals in this game. He's on the puck now
down the right side. Hood uses the defenseman Henry as
a screen. Took the shot between the skates of Henry,
put it right on goal and Will Cole had to
be sharp. So hunter Hood in on the face off,

(01:34:28):
which is to the left of the subrew goal. Off
the face off puckets chipped into the corner. Henry got
to it first for Subaru, and now Subru will skate
that puck out.

Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
I'll just send it down into the zone. McDonald in
on his horse chasing.

Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
Him after it and ran into the Wildcats player and
he's going to get a cross checking call. So McDonald
flying in the zone after that puck. I'm trying to
get the number of that Wildcats player. Think it's number
seventy seven Max Hanley, who was on the receiving end
of that speed and force from number twenty seven Matt McDonald.

(01:35:09):
So Matthew McDonald to the penalty box, cross checking the call,
and it was good to see Max Hanley get back
up that big defenseman for Valley up under his own power.
So Valley to the power play with ten to sixteen
to go, and at some point we're gonna have the Now,

(01:35:30):
I'm not sure if they do. That's a good question,
maybe one I'll find out here in a second. If
they do the media timeout when a team is on
the power play, we'll see. I know different leagues have
different rules about that. As that shot from the left
wing goes out a play and there's my answer. So
with exactly ten minutes to go, so exactly the midway

(01:35:53):
point of period number three, we are at the media timeout.
Three to three midway Hey through the third valley and
Subaru media timeout will be back.

Speaker 7 (01:36:05):
Workwater a clean energy drink using natural flavors, sparkling water
and natural caffeine the boost without the chemicals.

Speaker 5 (01:36:15):
Workwater made in New Brunswick.

Speaker 2 (01:36:18):

Every donation, every box packed, every shared meal makes a
difference because feeding hope starts with feeding people find out

(01:36:41):
more at Feednova Scotia dot Ca.

Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
And quickly off that face off out of the media timeout.
Valley got a quick shot in on goal, but Cole
makes the save. So Valley on the power play. Here
to go in the man advantage for Valley in the period,
Valley controls off the face off, cross ice, walking in.

Speaker 4 (01:37:05):
With a quick shot. There was Morgan Fleming. They score.

Speaker 3 (01:37:09):
Fleming got the initial shot from the right circle. Cole
made the safe. All kinds of bodies in front, the
rebound was sitting there, and it's Lucas Arnold, I believe
gonna get credit for the power play goal. And Valley
have scored two in a row and Valley Wildcats with

(01:37:36):
the power play goal have taken the lead. So again,
the initial point shot came in, the save was made,
there was all kinds of bodies in traffic, and it
was Lucas Arnold. If it is indeed Arnold, will wait
for the official announcement. If it was Arnold, it'll be

(01:37:56):
a power play goal and his fourth of the year.
So with nine and a half minutes to play, it's
four to three Valley Wildcats on the road. Puck in
the Valley zone. Wildcats will control send it to the
red line. Henry backhands it up, trying to connect with Burgess.
That didn't work, and Valley will retreat and send it

(01:38:18):
right back up.

Speaker 4 (01:38:19):
Toward the red line.

Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
They're going to announce the goal all so it is
indeed Lucas Arnold, so assists going to Nate Betts and
Jesse Sinclair. Excuse me, Fleming got the assist Morgan Fleming

(01:38:44):
seventy two twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:38:45):
Two and Subaru.

Speaker 3 (01:38:47):
Just after the Wildcats goal is announced, Subaru has answered
right back. Just seconds later, Steele, Subaru says, we don't
like trailing. Let's score and it's Max Brian with his seventh. Well,
that'll make his brother James happy. James is up in

(01:39:10):
the press box across the ice doing the live stream
for High Button Sports, so brother James will be happy
that Max has scored goal number seven and Subaru back
to a tie just after Valley had taken the lead
on the Lucas Arnold goal. So Max Brian goal number

(01:39:35):
seven and they're announcing that Brian gold. Now, that didn't
take long. London gets an assist and Burgess so Burgess
and Mundon get the assistant. A penalty coming now, as

(01:39:58):
all kinds of things going on here in an entertaining third,
to say the least, and the referee's arm is up
and it's going to be a tripping call coming here,
so let's see who's heading to the box, and I
think we might have a couple of penalties here is

(01:40:22):
so initially it was number nineteen sent or excuse me,
Quentin Land heading to the box, and then I think
perhaps maybe Owen Sparks might have had something to say,
and now Sparks in the box as well, So Land
got the initial tripping call. I believe it was Land.

(01:40:43):
We'll wait again for the announcement at the Sportsplex here
the in house announcer just confirming with the referee to
see what those calls are. But I can definitely tell
you that Sparks and Land both in the penalty box.
So quite a turn of events here. With eight oh
seven to go in the third, Bally took the lead

(01:41:05):
four to three on the goal from Lucas Arnold, but
then seconds later Max Bryan tied it up. But now
here come the penalty calls.

Speaker 4 (01:41:18):
So Land does indeed get the tripping.

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
Call, and Sparks it's a misconduct to Sparks, so that
won't affect the number of skaters, so it's not a
five on three, it's a five on two. So Sparks
gets the misconduct ten minutes. So unless there's overtime, Sparks
day is done on the ice and the two minute
minor goes to number nineteen SAMs. Excuse me, Quentin Land

(01:41:44):
so Land tripping, and it's a five on four man
advantage for Valley in a four to four tie with
seven forty to go in the third period. This really
has been it's a cliche, but it has been a
sea saw game for Shore. Face off to the right

(01:42:04):
of the Subaru goal, clean win. Now it's sent across
by Jesse Sinclair, got it over onto the stick of
Jacob Semen. He tried to work it across, but that
went off a stick and out of play. So getting
late here in the third period, it's a four to

(01:42:26):
four tie. Home side Subaru visitors Wildcats.

Speaker 4 (01:42:38):
Off the face off.

Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
Here's Semen from the right point, gets it back against Seman,
walks along the blue line, slides it across. Now to
the left point. Now Jesse Sinclair sends it down low
getting to it. There was number fifteen Luke Force. Force

(01:43:02):
wasn't with him on that play as Seaman has their
retreat into his own zone.

Speaker 4 (01:43:06):
Great four check.

Speaker 3 (01:43:07):
Good work there by number twenty two Max Bryan forcing
the turnover in the Wildcats zone. Almost had a chance,
but it also takes penalty time away from the Wildcats.
Forty one seconds to go in the penalty the land
six forty four in the third period, Wildcats with the
puckin' the suber zone.

Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
Little given go there.

Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
As Fletcher fed it down Low got it right back.
His one timer went wide to the net and off
the boards. Six and a half to play in the third,
twenty three seconds to go in the power play, here's
Jesse Saint Clair put it in toward the front. Right
in front of the goal was Max Hanley, the big
man seventy seven, trying to screen in front Saint Clair. Again,
that may have been more of a pass to Hanley

(01:43:49):
than it was a shot, but it goes by everybody
and out into neutral ice. Wildcats will pick it up subrudo.
Good four check there coming from Ryan. He'll send it
down into the Wildcats zone. Land out of the penalty box.
So the Subaru kill off the penalty and we're back
to five on five. Scotland lugs that puck into his
own zone for Subaru. Back to even strength. Now five

(01:44:12):
point fifty three to go in a tie game. Subru
into the zone, making some nice moves there as Smith
he put it in towards then it bounced off a
body and pops up high into the air. Henry got
a stick on it in neutral ice and now here's
Jesse Sinclair again from the right wing side. Took a
shot off the blade of the stick of Henry and
up over top of Aaron Meaden in the Wildcat's zone.

(01:44:34):
Back the other way comes Subrew Bird just got a
little stick on that and it goes in behind the net.
Bodies flying now Jesse Sinclair racing on that pucket. Feels
like Sinclair's been out on the ice for about four minutes.
Puck fit in toward the middle of the ice. Isaac
Connelly couldn't settle it there. He'll send it down low,
chasing it around the boards as Morgan fleming for Wildcats

(01:44:56):
and Subra will grab it now with Carver. Carver flips
it high into the air, Subaru making a change deep
in his own zone. Hickey picks it up for the
Wildcats five minutes exactly to go in period three, four
to four year score. Both teams have enjoyed the lead.
It's been a back and forth affair with several lead changes.

(01:45:17):
Wildcats making changes. Now Subra with the puck in their
own zone, long lead passing, a good one on the
stick of Mundon, turns and fires and sent it just
wide and then he looks skyward. Now Brian sends it
back in front Mondon getting tied up there. Good defense
I've worked by Hanley and Henley will slide that buckuckhead

(01:45:37):
on the stick of Amos Sinclair as his brother Jesse
with him. The Sinclair is trying to work some brotherly magic.
Late in the third period, pucked down below the goal line,
Subru trying to work it out of the zone. Stopped
over there by Stoddard. He'll send it in behind the net.
Good pressure here by the Valley Wildcats and as I
say that, Subru able to clear it out of the zone.

Speaker 4 (01:45:59):
Four oh seven to go, a tie game. Wildcats.

Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
Amos Sinclair into the zone, feeds and across of the
on rushing Stoddard and the pass got deflected just enough
that Stoddard couldn't settle it for a chance, and then
the goaltender Will Cole holds it and hangs on. Great
action late in this third period. Each team scored one

(01:46:28):
in the first, each team scored one in the second.
Each team has scored two here in the third.

Speaker 4 (01:46:33):
You add it up eight.

Speaker 3 (01:46:35):
Goals in total, four for each team. Clean face off
win Sinclair. Jesse Sinclair couldn't find it in his skates
and the Wildcats will send it around the boards. Now
for Nolan Fletcher. Fletcher trying to get it on that puck.
He'll have it now along the boards. Fletcher takes a
bump there, he'll stay on the puck and then Fletcher

(01:46:55):
hog ties his man takes him down to the ice
that was McDonald. Puck was to the front of the goal,
but Plaplinsky, the captain of the Subru, does a nice
job of gathering it and getting it out. Paplinsky now
backhands it into the zone. Subru tried to get control
a nifty little play there as it came into neutral
ice and Jesse Sinclair tried to kick it over to

(01:47:16):
his teammate Fletcher. Here's a chance in tight and a
shot there from a sharp angle Meeten just got a piece.

Speaker 4 (01:47:23):
Three eleven to.

Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
Go, Sinclair and Wildcats fans pleading for a call, and
the only thing they got was the lines person saying
the play is on side.

Speaker 4 (01:47:35):
No penalty play carries on.

Speaker 3 (01:47:38):
Brendan Smith now sends it down low subru making a
change two fifty two to go. Some of the Wildcats
fans still wanting that penalty call that didn't come as
Jesse Sinclair looked to break in. Now the Wildcats making
a change. Back and forth we go with two forty
left in this third period of a four to four tie.

(01:47:59):
It's been a dandy here this afternoon at the Zachman Sportsplex.
Glad you've been able to tune in on the firm
Foundation Media Radio Network. A great Nova Scotia uaighteen Major
Hockey League game going on here. That puck was flipped
up and hit with a high stick by a Wildcats player,
and with two twenty one to go, we'll have a

(01:48:21):
face off just outside or will it be inside? I
think it's gonna be so both teams getting some fresh
legs out on the ice, and it will indeed be
outside the Wildcat zone over on the far side of
the ice. Subru control off that face off. They'll just

(01:48:42):
lift it right down into the wildcat zone. Wildcats will
look to get out on the fore check. Now puck
fed across trying to catch up with Tromblay. Now following
up is Scotland, pinching in gets it back to Troumblay
point shot is loose meat and got a piece and
then a great job there by Jacob c in to
clear away the loose puck. Henry in neutral ice slides

(01:49:05):
it across ice. One fifty two to go. Here comes
Scotland rushing the puck into the zone. Subrew Scotland down low.
He'll change positions. Now Scotland spinning along the boards, trying
to get away from hunter Hood, but the Wildcats will
grab it and bring it out, sending it forward. There
was Isaac Conley and the wildcats will watch the puck

(01:49:25):
go down into the subrew's own wholesale changes here for
the wildcats. Here comes Ryan dashing down that left side.

Speaker 8 (01:49:32):
Ryan from the sharp bago he scars Sam Ryan.

Speaker 4 (01:49:38):
How did he find an opening?

Speaker 3 (01:49:40):
As he came flying down the left wing side, cut
into the circle and was.

Speaker 4 (01:49:45):
Almost on top of the near.

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
Post and found a sliver of daylight and gets it
through somehow through the goaltender air and meeting and with
one minute and twenty five seconds to go, steal Subaru
have taken the lead.

Speaker 4 (01:50:10):
Again.

Speaker 3 (01:50:10):
I just don't know how there was any room at
all to squeeze that puck in. But they don't ask how,
they ask how many. And Ryan has his fourth of
the year and right now it stands as the game
winner with one ten to go, and it's an unassisted

(01:50:35):
goal for the Subaru. So the net is empty for Valley,
extra skater on, extra attacker trying to tie it up
late six on five skaters with the net empty, Sinclair.

Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
With a shot from the left side, goes wide.

Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
Wildcats keeping it at the point with Wilson forty six
seconds to go, Wildcat's net is empty, extra attacker on
for Valley, puck comes out into neutralized. That'll force the
Wildcats to retreat. Subrew have an open net to shoot up,
but it's going to be off side as Subrew had

(01:51:10):
wide eyes looking at the wide open net, but offside
was steel. Subreu down to thirty four point seven to go,
and it looks like coach Scott Trask and Valley have
called a time out, So what.

Speaker 4 (01:51:35):
More could you ask for? Two teams.

Speaker 3 (01:51:40):
Vying for position in the standing, separated by only two points,
all kinds of lead changes, great goaltending, speed, some physicality,
a little dash of everything, and that's what you get
with the Nova Scotia you eighteen Major Hockey League. I've
said it before, I'll say it again. It's great that
you can either watch or listen to the broadcast, but

(01:52:03):
if you can get out and buy a ticket and
come watch these teams play in person, I would highly
recommend you do so. It is high intensity, high level hockey.

Speaker 4 (01:52:20):
So thirty four points, seven to go.

Speaker 3 (01:52:23):
Both teams just had a little chat at their benches
after that. Wildcat's time out face off outside the Wildcats zone.
Meeting back in the net for this face off, hoping
that his teammates get possession, which they do. There goes meeting,
rushing off to the Wildcats bench. Extra attacker is on,
so six on five skaters again, but now down to

(01:52:45):
twenty two seconds.

Speaker 4 (01:52:46):
Wildcats running out of time.

Speaker 3 (01:52:48):
Over it comes to Morgan Fleming, He'll flip it into
the zone. It goes all the way into the corner
on the far side. Thirteen seconds to go. Wildcats get
the puck to the red line and it's they're sent
back in by Nate Betts, but super.

Speaker 4 (01:53:03):
Will have it. Here's Ryan to the open net and
he scores.

Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
Sam Ryan gets the empty netter, and it's fitting perhaps
that the young man who scored the go ahead goal
just a few minutes ago looks to have iced it
away with the empty netter. Goal number five on the
year now for Ryan, his second of the game, and

(01:53:28):
with just one second to go, that will indeed seal
it for sure. So Ryan scores the last two goals
for Steel Super Route and with the drop of the
puck there it is so victory for Steel suberot disappointment
for Valley. It was really again it's cliche, but it

(01:53:50):
was a back and forth game. Both teams had moments
where they took the lead and held the lead several
lead changes this one. But down the stretch late in
the third period it was Sam Ryan getting the eventual
game winner and then icing it with one second left,
getting the empty net goal and steal Subrew now tie

(01:54:16):
Valley Wildcats in record and in points. Steal Subrew now
run their record is six to three and oh for
twelve points. That matches the twelve points in the Valley
Wildcats to see their record fall to six four and oh.

Speaker 4 (01:54:34):
So subru still has.

Speaker 3 (01:54:35):
The game in hand, but they've matched Valley in points
again just early season, but those are positives to build
on again.

Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
Just a great game back and forth.

Speaker 3 (01:54:45):
It was one to one after one, two two after two,
and we were tied for a good portion of that
third period again until late when Sam Ryan scored the
eventual game winner and then with one second left got
the empty netter. So a well played game all the
way around. I hope you enjoyed it. It was great
