Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, hey, don't list to play Flurry Sports will save
your day. Joke Swiss Sports inside, Zach and Shake they
get it right, Fuck you?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
What's up everybody? Welcome back to the Flurry Sports podcast tonight.
Jake is off and we got Luke Raymer with us
because we need to talk basketball, which I think is
a good opportunity for Jake to take a week off.
He is he still thinks Jamal Tinsley's in the NBA.
I think he's excited for Josh Smith to get another ALU.
(00:44):
So I exactly, and I'm not fully up to day obviously.
So we got Luke, who is the resident expert on
the NBA at Flurry Sports. Because before I say anything else,
Game seven of the NBA Finals just ended, and nobody
knows that the NBA Draft is in two days, and
(01:04):
that is kind of what we're talking about today, right,
I will.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Say before we start, kind of kind of convenient that
Jake can't come on after the Brewers hung thirty four
runs on the Twins in three games over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Is that true?
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Thankes, I did see because I needed to pick up
somebody in fantasy baseball. I guess maybe a bad decision
to pick up a Twins player. I didn't see a
lot of losses in a row. Okay, you know, time
to break the trend. I won't tell you specifically why
I picked up this player. Maybe it's an off air conversation,
but I think I made a mistake, and it's because,
(01:42):
you know, I mean, this is a safe space. The
guy's last name is I think Lee, and I assumed
he was Asian. Okay, so let's start there. They play Seattle.
I'm like, oh, Asians love Seattle, so I thought he
was going to go ballistic. I think he's a white Lee,
which is not what you want here. But we'll see happens.
You know, maybe he does.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
One of the games, Brewers got up seventeen to two,
and they put their first basement in to pitch, to
pitch the bottom of the ninth, and he gave the
Brewers first baseman, gave a five runs, and the Brewers
started warming up a closer just in case things got
crazy in it, and he was able to get out of.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
It though, yeah, I hope. So, uh, what's up with
the Brewers this year? Like they are I feel like
it's every swing either they're up by ten or down
by ten.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, right now they're playing good ball.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Okay, Okay, I'm fine with that. I still have Brewers
to make the playoffs. Bets from preseason, and you know what,
maybe I should double down.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
You're probably looking at a wildcard because the Cubs are
are contender.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I wasn't. You don't need to win the DIVI I will.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Say your bet on the Rockies manager when you manager
of the year, he got like fired after three weeks.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah yeah, I mean you never know. Maybe at the midpoint,
which is close to now, I think they'll realize, hey,
we're not better, we're not better without him, and we're
not better without a leader, and they bring him back,
and then if they go on a run that's gonna
be something that MLB has never seen. And he gets
the award.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Well, I will say, like, Rockies won like three games
in a row, and they I think they're mathematically limited now,
but at that point they like they weren't. And he's
like the guys like, don't let us get hot. We
win one hundred games, we're in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Hell, yeah, never know, the only way to go, but up,
why not? I was pitched. I was pitching last week
and by the way, I'm very serious about this. Give
me the reins to the Rockies for one year and
just see what happens. I think I could make something happen.
But why wouldn't the Rockies at the deadline be like, Hey,
give us all of your expiring contracts for veteran players,
(03:51):
and let's say make a run at this thing. That
seems fun.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Just dump dump all your money into old guys and
see if you can get go for it.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, fuck get like every you're gonna get so much
in Jersey sales because they're all in one year contracts
and then you gotta get rid of them anyway. Like
it's that's what I would do. And you know, I
get these old guys with something to prove too, they're
trying to earn another contract. I want everybody fighting for
positions pissed off if they're not in the starting rotation
that day. Like that's all we need to have a
(04:21):
team full of.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Plus you're playing a Coors field, I mean, if you
hit the ball in the air, it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Be a home run exactly. And I think I pitched
bo Nicks is gonna be a pitcher. We know he
can he's in town. Fuck it right, he needs somebody.
I will say, it's not that hard.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
It's it's quite a the inter manager saying like, don't
let us get hot. You know, it's quite an interesting spot.
Like you come in, you take over the worst team
in MLB history. You're gonna get fired. You know they're
gonna bring someone else in, Like you're just you just
came down as a hitting coach. Like what do you even?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
You just?
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I think you just go balls to the wall and
just do whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
You literally cannot make a mistake. You have the freedom
to do absolutely anything. It's called house money for a reason.
Do anything. I would be trying people every every day.
We're literally rotating positions. We'll have a new person pitched,
We'll have a new person in the outfield. Screw it.
Who cares? Is Charlie Blackman still there? Be rocky eyed? Though,
(05:16):
bring him back? Fuck it? Reunion tour at least for
home games, that's fine. He doesn't need to.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Play anywhere else. Tickets.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, that's that's all what it is. You know what.
Today we've got Sean Payton. He's pitching John l if
John Elwie took them out for a game. You know,
I'll be tickets.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Withself and he would too.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Oh John, Yeah, he would love that he could be
the GM two. He would jump on that too, right,
every every old Bronco.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Before we transition to basketball here, just we're on baseball
talk right now. Nine challenge any thoughts.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
See, we were trying to get some people because I
went to the Twins game for Jake's bachelor party, and
we're trying to get some people to do it. And
like I was watching a lot of videos, I was
really amping myself up to do it. That's a lot.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
That's so that's something that I I think I can do.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
It, you think, So, so what's your strategy, because there's
multiple ways to go about it?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I think I think I.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Think about, let's set the parameters of this. Are you
of the opinion that you have to finish like the
set of one within the inning, or is just throughout
the nine ing innings you have to do all nine
of I think I.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Think either way is fine. Getting getting the beer and
the hot dogs down in nine innings, I think that's fine.
I think right the fun way to do it is
to do one to one one every single n.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
That's the harder way, I think correct.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
And I think that's the more respectable way though.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
For sure it is. But you know it's a respectable game.
You gotta do it, for sure, right.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
But if you're taking the easy way out and doing
trying to do it like as you know, get as
much down before or whatever, get get them all down
in the ninety however you do it, think you have
to get the hot dog buns down as quick as
possible because that's gonna soak up all the beer.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yes, but once the buns settle in there, I think,
I know, Like yeah, I don't know, I don't know.
Like you for sure can't go all of the beer first.
You need to have a lot of the beer left
over to get the dogs down, all right, If you
get like if you could like double the bunch, like
get like four of just the hot dogs down and
(07:33):
like double up some of the buns with the beer,
I think it's a time thing. It's a time thing.
You can't you can't right in your stomach too long.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I think you can, like I think anybody can do
like five hot dogs and five beers, But once you
get to that point, you're, like, you gotta do nine
like it's like going to like a football game in
the winter with all your shirt on. If you're gonna
do it, you gotta do. You gotta do the whole game.
You gotta do the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Is there a beer that you would choose specifically?
Speaker 1 (08:03):
I mean, like probably cours Light. It's just the lightest thing,
like you can drink that like water.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah. Yeah. Jake recently for his work, they got a
box for him and he got to pitch what one
of the beers was, and he got He went to
a Brewers game in a box and got Hams. So tough,
look that decision. And Nope. The thing is he's the
only one there who drinks Hams, so he is responsible.
(08:28):
I think he had five of them, and I can't imagine.
I mean, it's just water, but that's that's one of
the beers that I almost would choose.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah. The thing is, you do something that doesn't have
that much of a taste either, So like Bush Light,
I think, like Miller Light's got too much of a
taste to do what I think. Budweiser it's got too
much chaste. Bud Light's got too much of a kid taste.
So I think it scores lighter, bush.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Light, Yeah, bush light would work too. Coors Light's a
good choice. I think that is pretty. It doesn't need
to have eight tastes. Yeah, yeah, I think you're right. Otherwise,
like if have you ever had a Liney's light, I
feel like a line late be perfect. I don't know
if they sell that there, but that would be a
good one.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Ye can't do anything heavy.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
No, if you did but heavy, like imagine doing a
spot of Hell, that would be a disaster. Yeah, that
would be a nightmare. Or like an I P A
or something like that there, that'd be terrible. I do
feel like if we do like a flurry sports off
site thing at some point during the football season, maybe
we we do our best. You know, we get we
(09:36):
get this if baseball still going, we can do it
for baseball if but if we do it something for
a football game or something, I think we try it,
and I think if Trevor's there, he's gonna fail first,
which is fine, so we're not going to be the
worst no matter what. And if Trevor is in the
chat or anything. But I think we do need to
figure something out in recorded obviously for content. Let us
(10:00):
know if there's something specific. If you don't want the
hot dogs and beer. If you want something else, let
us know that as well. But I do think we
need to do some sort of eating challenge. Would you
do spicy?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah? Like I like spicy food.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Okay, I'm just trying to think of like different ideas
that we could do. It. Make me find some of
the hottest wings somewhere or something like that, too.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
True, And just going back to the hot dogs, you
can't you can't dress the hot dogs either.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Is that a rule? Are you saying you preferred now?
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I would like I think that's the strategies. You can't
dress them.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I don't know if you could make it different. I
think that would like eating the same thing, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, I don't hate that. I think variations. Are you
just gonna muster ketch up male relish onion?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Here's the thing. If I'm drinking beer at the same time,
I don't know if I want ketchup at relics.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Right, That's what I'm saying, blustered.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
I think I'm cool with But yeah, I don't know
if I want to catch up be beer. I think
that would make me puke after two.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, they may be peoping red.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
True, it's almost like and I hate these some people
like these, but like the I can't even remember what
they're called. Well, they had like a bud light bloody
Mary mixed thing. Yeah remember those? Those are disgusting. Yeah,
I agree, that reminds me too much of that. I
don't want that.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Anyway, NBA, uh, and maybe we do something for the
NBA draft because you know what, don't party too hard
on Night one of the NBA draft because as we
learned last year, starting last year, NBA drafts now two nights,
and I'm sure everybody will tune in for both nights,
I think, and I don't think I'm just hypothesizing this.
(11:53):
I think it's just an obvious thing, right that last
year the NBA switched to a two night draft because
Ronnie Lebron's James Son was getting drafted on the second night.
Is that just the widely accepted obvious why they did it, right, Like,
I don't think they obviously. The NFL Draft is a
three night, three day thing. People watch for sure the
(12:16):
first two days. They'll always tune in somewhat for the
third day. NBA keeps trying to be the NFL anyway,
but they thought, you know, it's the biggest thing they've
had in a long time. It's the only second round
draft pick anyone ever has cared about watching to see
where he got drafted to. So I think they capitalized
on that. But there's no way they think this is
(12:38):
going to be successful.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Right, correct, right, And there's no reason it should be.
But just like if we're going to compare the NBA
to the NFL, which the NFL is going to blow
the NBA out of the water ten times out of ten, right,
you would think that a second round in the end,
and maybe just because more people care abut football than basketball,
but you would think that NBA second round should bring,
you know, an idea of like second round like second
(13:01):
round NBA picks, like all the later on people know
the players, Like if you watch college basketball, do you
know anything? You know, if you know anything with pastball,
you're gonna know is he drafted NFL in the later ons?
You know what? Maybe three picks per round.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Well, especially with the NBA, And it's hard, there's a
lot of elements here, but like I actually think you
know the second round players more than you know picks
like sixteen through thirty or something for sure, because that's
what all the upper classmen, Like we talked about pre show,
all the upper classmen are the ones that are in
the second round. So those are the guys you probably
(13:34):
have watched the most of.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Right, Yeah, Like the later first round is gonna be
you know, like middle teams that probably have a playoff team.
Are you gonna take a gamble like the Bucks and
with the honest you know, no one knew what the
Fuckianus was, but are gonna take a gamble on a
foreign guy or you know, a guy from a G league.
Try to try to get that right.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah, So then your upper classmen, the Wisconsin's, the the Creightons,
stuff like that. Those guys that just coming back a
year after a year. There were seniors, super seniors. Those
are the guys now all of a sudden they're good
enough to go to the NBA. They have no more
years of eligibility left. But the NBA is like, we
can't do anything with you. You can rent a car
by yourself, you cannot play for our team. That's not
(14:17):
how that usually goes. So that's it's weird if they
they downgrade your age a ton but even still, like
how many second round draft picks are even gonna play
this next year? It's going to be interesting. It's just
because there aren't very many like spots teams at this point.
(14:37):
How many players? How many do we know of any
players that actually retired this year?
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Nothing yet, like there.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Was no like, you know, this is my final year
while the year is.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Going on or yeah, I mean in terms of the
big names, like Lebron's gonna play another year, Chris Paul
is gonna play another year, Durant's gonna play another year,
STEP's gonna play another year, like all the big guys
are are staying around.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yeah, I don't even I can't even think of who.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I could feel like, like, uh, you know, it comes
to right for you know, training camp and get maybe
like a PJ. Tucker retirement or a James Johnson or
like guys that don't really matter.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Yeah, don't tell PJ. Tucker that I think I would
venture to guess fucking Weben Yama retires before PJ. Tucker open.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah, probably to be honest.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
There's yeah, there's no way he's coming back, and he's
gonna pitch himself as the guy who can shut down
Durant as dreamt Pucks thirty five insane.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Like it's crazy too with guys like that, like the James,
like James Johnson just took over, like Theudonna's Haslam role.
Let me just be the big od veteran forcer that's
good in the locker room, and he's gonna stand up
for like the guys who in the getting fights. You're
just wasting a roster spot. Just be a coach at
that point.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, I don't understand it. That made no sense. Like
they went to Haslam was so respected, but they like
went to his house like he was Brett Farve. They
went to him to convince him to come back again
and again. Like it just made no They got him,
Like I can't even remember what the story is, but
like I think Spolster got him something insane as like
(16:11):
a present to come back again. Right, I don't understand it.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Don't even be Just give him no responsibility, just be
an advisor and pay him a million dollars.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah, sit on the bench. Who cares, doesn't matter. He's
not playing. He's just there to trip the other team
and then be there for practices. I'm sure in the
locker room and stuff like.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
That, right, and just get all the rookies ready.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Right right. The Heat run their program completely differently anyway,
But yeah, I don't. I mean, it's the same type
of thing. You're wasting your roster spot with any of
Giannis's brothers and stuff like that, right, But keeps Gianna's happy.
Sola will do what they can. If he is coming back,
he should be, I assume, but we shall see. Let's
(16:54):
look at who potentially could be chosen here. Let me
go back to the first round, so I guess let's
start with the order in case anyone missed it. So
obviously it's a lottery, so it's rigged in to favor
whatever is going on. So Luca gets straighted from the Mavericks.
They do have the first overall pick. The Spurs I
(17:15):
think are super interesting at the second overall pick. Obviously,
they've had a couple of did Castle win Rookie of
the Year, They've had a couple of really good rookies
in a row, and then Chris Paul's there, and is
Chris Paul free agent?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Actually, yeah, Dearren Fox has thrown their show there.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Darren Fox is there, so Chris Paul will go with
the Clippers. I can only imagine, but yeah, this is
the order. We got seventy six ers, Charlotte, Utah, Washington,
Poor Washington Pelicans.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
That's that's the thing with a lottery, like, right, it's
it's nice to have a lottery to limit tanking and
all that, But you get a team like the Charlotte
Hornets who haven't won more than thirty games like the
last twenty five years, and they have never had the
number one pick, like tint Alonso Morning.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
No, no, yeah, I like that. It obviously makes it
so you don't want to openly tank necessarily, but at
some point, like we need to get these guys competitive
a little bit, We need to see them up somehow. Yeah,
it doesn't really make sense. I wish there was a
way to, like, like I almost think along with the
(18:21):
lottery system or something like maybe if you are worse,
you have more money to spend. Maybe that's good. I
don't know, I have no idea. Maybe that's a good thing,
maybe it's not. But this is the team, this is
the order. We already know, the first overall pick.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Right, A team that made the playoffs basically the playoff
like play in playoffs or whatever, is the number one
pick this year?
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Right, Yeah, this isn't a bad team, right. I would
say the top two teams aren't bad teams. Seventy six
ers I have no idea, but seventy six ers are
down there because they didn't have a bead for a
bunch of games.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, they're all injured all year.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I don't know how good Philadelphia anyways, But anyway, we
will look at some players here. Cooper Flag is already
locked in to go to the Mavericks, so we know that.
Is there an actual discussion for number two or is
that locked in as well?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Cooper Flag is gonna be number one for sure, And
maybe this is a hot take. I think that he's
a better prospect than Victor wembin Yama. I think Victor
wem Young King really really raw, but just based on
his size, he's good player. Like Cooper Flagg is already
gonna be an NBA All Star when he comes in.
So that's set in stone number two, there's not I mean,
like if the Spurs hang on to the pick, which
it kind of sounds like they are now that you know,
(19:35):
Giannis is gonna stay with Milwaukee, Kevin Durance with uh
with Houston kind of the big the big Dogs who
are maybe on the trade block are are kind of
falling into place. Dylan Harper is probably the guy there,
which Rutgers is incredible at recruiting but bad like playing
team basketball. So to have Dylan Harper, I mean, he's
gonna be a big guard, which is gonna be weird
(19:55):
for the Spurs because they are kind of guard heavy
right now. But Darren Fox contra check is up after
a year, so you give them, you know, you give
me your behind Darren Fox, and depending on what happens,
you can kind of ship the ship Fox out. Harper
will be good, good player, Kate Cunningham esque kind of player.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Okay, yeah, that makes sense then, not that.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
He's Kate Counyham, but a big guard who can score
and pass.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
And I knew again I passively watched college basketball more
so just March Madness heavy. So if they didn't make
the tournament, maybe I didn't see as much of them.
I'm surprised there's two Rutgers guys in the top three.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
That's what I'm saying. They're incredible recruiting, bad playing interesting.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Okay, so I know, and you have a full mock
draft going out on Flurry Sports tomorrow, that is Tuesday.
If you're listening to this so flurry sports dot org
you can read more of like where Luke's projecting players
to go, what he actually thinks of them, stuff like that.
But I know you did have a list of players
here that you specifically want to point out for us
(20:55):
to look at, maybe who you know For someone like me,
I don't really know them, who they may remind me
of as well.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
So with a third pick there, like Philadelphia is in
a really interesting spot because they were injured all year Tyrese, Maxy,
Joel and b Jared McCain. They're hurt all year. Paul
George just kind of sucks now, but he was injured too.
Dj Edgecomb, who was number four on the list here,
it can be a really interesting guy for them. He's
a guy who kind of plays a little like like
(21:23):
Zach Levine before the ACLS. Plus now that he can shoot,
so he's a high fire who can shoot threes. It
gives him a reason to move on from Paul George
if he sucks again, but it brings kind of some
different versatility, Like Philadelphia is probably gonna be the playoff
next year if the NBA's healthy. So it's just a
you know, they're adding a good player to an already
al right team.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I can honestly say I did not know Paul George
was on the seventy six ers. That is interesting. I
had no idea. So if they did go for Edgecomb,
I assume it would be what MAXI Edgecomb, then Paul George,
somebody else, Embiid. That's the starting five.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, probably probably Jared McCain when he comes back.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Okay, that's not a bad starting five. Then, like, that's
a team that can compete.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
In their names. And if you have Umbeid on the court,
you're gonna you know, you're gonna score at least ninety
a game.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
So true.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
What's interesting, too is the second Rutgers guy, Ace Bailey
up there. Apparently like he's he like is uh, I
don't want to call him like a prima donna, but
he didn't want to like work out with the Sixers.
He avoided an interview with him. I think they're doing
it like tomorrow, which makes me think that they're not
gonna draft him. But I think I think he took
(22:39):
on with like the Spurs. He took on with like
the jazz, he's like selecting where he wants kind of
where he wants to go interesting.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Do you think he's good enough where like he can
have that type of pull.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
I don't, but I think he'll be a fine player.
Like he's a nineteen year old Rutgers who he played
fine colle but he wasn't anything crazy kind of Malik
Michael Beasley esque Michael Porter Junior esque, kind of a
big wing who can who can shoot the three a
little bit. But I don't know that he's a guy
like but in the only one in the draft too
(23:13):
I think should be able to do this is Coper
Flag and that's not even like he's gonna be the
number one pick anyways.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
So I mean, pre Madonna necessary doesn't necessarily fit them.
But in terms of a big guy, kind of a
playmaker who can shoot the ball, that sounds like a
Spurs guy to me. Yeah, for whatever that's worth. Did
the Spurs name a new head coach.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, it's the the guy who's been interim for from
all year. I forget his name.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Okay, that makes sense. Hopefully pop is good. Okay, So
I mean, how high do you think Conkin Nipple can
go as someone biased who unfortunately kind of wants to
see him do well.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
I know I I also I like a lot like
obviously he's a duke guy who I hate him, but
he's a Wisconsin guy. He's a guy. When I wrote
him up, like other than Cooper Flag, he might have
the highest floor in the draft where you know exactly
whe you're getting out of him. You know, he's he's
gonna make the right play every time. He's gonna you
can score from all over the court. He just not
you know, athletic at you know, not fast enough to
probably keep up with the ANTHONYA. Wards of the world,
(24:12):
to keep up with the Kevin Durant of the world.
I know Charlotte likes him from from just from you know,
reading reports. The Charlotte fan pages on Facebook love him.
They think he's gonna be like like a Gordon Hayward
kind of player. He feels like a he feels like
a spot up shooter who can create offense when needed.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Yeah, he is. He almost have I'm just trying to
think of what position he would play. It like he
kind of has to play the two. But you're right,
he is not fast. Whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Right, and but and he's a guy who like people
who don't watch college basketball and watch NBA think that
he's gonna be like JJ Redick, you know. But he's
a guy who can he can work off off the screen,
he can pass, you can hit open guys things like that.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Okay, yeah, I mean yeah, he's gonna be a fundamental
player and stuff. But he I I could see him
becoming a defensive liability a little bit. We shall see.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
My My favorite guy in the draft who is just
incredible to watch is Trey Johnson from Texas the dude,
Jamal Crawford, Brandon Jennings, Michael redd As soon as the
guy touches the ball, shots going up and he shoots
from Steph Curry range, he throws down Dunty gets from
all over it. Like he is so fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
So in your opinion, then what's like the highest do
you think he could end up going? He's rated fifth
for whatever it's worth on ESPN. Do you think he
can get up to like that the Spurs at two
or No?
Speaker 1 (25:36):
I don't think so. Like I would take him ahead
of Ace Bailey. I would take him honestly, I would
take him ahead of Konkinnipple and VJ. Edgecomb. But I
get you know, teams want, you know, length and defense
and all this. It kind of feels like a jazz
pick at five. Maybe the farthest down I see him
going is Pelicans at seven. Okay, so I would say
(25:58):
right outside the top three any of those picks.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Okay, you think, but he's your favorite player. You think
he can come in right away and like lead his song,
obviously in the back court to watch. Okay, I like
that we need more like young guys. I don't know
I'm wrong because I don't watch much NBA and because
I just literally hate it, but I feel like they're
missing more like flashy guard to the moment.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I guess he like if I if you put a
gun to my head and say, compare to the player
he's He's like Joe Johnson.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Okay, I love Joe Johnson. Yeah, one of my favorites
of all time.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
I am shocked to see Derek Queen on this list.
I did not know he I like him too. I
don't know why. I'm just surprised that he declared for
the draft. I thought he was coming back. I don't
want him to just be another Maryland big guy who
went too early and just is out of the league immediately.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
What could happen? Sure, he's a guy who and this
is what's great to me about the NBA draft is
like you like NBA draft definitively, every single player you
can either label him as a good player or a bust,
which I don't think you can know with the NFL,
just because there's so many guys and so many moving parts.
Baseball who the fuck knows, Hockey, who the fuck knows.
(27:19):
But Derrek Queen is a guy who's either gonna come
down to a team and by his third year he's
scoring twenty five a game, or he's Anthony Bennett out
of the league in four years.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Sure, do you think he's a player? Because I think
there's no doubt. Like he's so young, there's no doubt
that he has like room to improve. Do you think
he's someone who should just be an immediate starter and
just learn as he goes?
Speaker 1 (27:42):
No? Probably not. He kind of feels like a little
I mean, it's probably just because they're like, you know,
fat guys. But Glenn Davis, you know, I love a
little bit of that and like a little Charles Barkley
and him who can shoot a little bit. So I
I think he's whoever get him, who's ever gonna get him?
(28:02):
People are just are gonna love him. He's a he's
a like old guy. He's a good locker room guy,
and he's he's a guy. He's a big guy who
can handle the ball, which is always really fun. And
he's a fat guy and people love fat guys.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
True, very true. What other guys igor demon? Is this
guy someone to pay attention to? I have no idea
who this is?
Speaker 1 (28:24):
No, honestly, like, he feels like like he's not gonna
be a guy that's gonna come in and be a
franchise changer right away. Kind of feels Wesley Matthews esque
where like that that kind of feels like a ceiling
where if he can, you know, play solid defense, he
can score the ball, he can hit the three, he
can handle the offense a little bit. But I don't
know that he's ever going to be a guy that
people at home are. You know, people that don't watch
(28:46):
NBA are gonna sit down and watch a game, We're
gonna be like, who the fuck is that guy?
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Just off the top of your head, do you know
of any other NBA player to come from b yu.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Uh Sean brad Sean Bradley.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Really okay, I think so like you why he's kind
of turning into a football school.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
But m.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Oh yeah, true true Jim Jimmer Uh. I can't remember
his Chinese nickname, but yeah, the chosen one over there
in China. He's soon good, that's true. Okay. So in
the past few years, obviously the NBA, well, I mean
for a long time has been dominated by like the
international big guys that have come in and France has
(29:28):
sort of popped up recently obviously have Wemby. I feel
like there's one other big French guy as well. So
there's another French Yeah, not him, but the biggest or
the top rated international guy here is at nine, which
I think is lower than past years. But he is
from France. Is there anything that we should know about him?
(29:51):
Is he getting is he too high because of like
the big basketball boom right now? Or is he legit?
Speaker 1 (29:59):
I will say I will preface this by saying, by
the guy who is thinks that America is still so
far better than every single country in the world of basketball.
Like the people that that don't like basketball. Want to
say that France and Canada are coming up, like nobody's
gonna hold you know, Usa, No, No, no, Sen He's
you remember alf Rukminu. Yeah, kind of like that a
(30:22):
little bit, a little bit more athletic than that, where
it's a big guy who can switch on to small guys.
Defense is probably where he's gonna make his money. But
he's you know, he can he can hit mid range,
he can work inside a little bit. But again, he's
not you know, he's not a Victor woman Yama. He's
not an Alex ar Reche safe from last year or
anything like that. He'd be a guy who's like kind
of Nicholas, but to whom, not that he plays like that,
(30:43):
but can can kind of probably hang around like that.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Is he someone who's gonna come over right away or
is he like gonna stay over?
Speaker 1 (30:50):
I think I think he. I don't know. I honestly
I don't know, but I think he can come over
right away.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Okay, that's interesting. I feel like that's been the case lately.
Maybe there's been like a new structural like in contracts
and stuff over there. I just remember the days where
it's like they drafted guy ins. Okay, see, in a
few years, it's almost a baseball.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
And they never work out.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Never, no, never, except for I think, did Rudy gober
come over or not? Rudy Gobert. Fuck Rudy Gobert. I
don't know why he's in my mind. I feel like
you're you're yeah, why no?
Speaker 1 (31:28):
After he put away the Lakers on a thirty twenty
game in the playoffs this year.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
I mean, that's fine. Anyone who can knock the Lakers out,
that's great. But I'm not putting that on Rudy Gobert.
I'm saying, if there's anyone to like on the Timberwolves,
it's Anthony Edwards. Even give credit to anybody else, screw Gobert. Okay,
other I didn't know there's a third duke guy? Is
(31:55):
there anything to know about?
Speaker 1 (31:57):
He's African guy who has no offense whatsoever, but he's
gonna bring energy and defense. He's probably a bad pick
for whoever takes him, because he's gonna take like, if
you want to be an offensive guy, he's not gonna
be that until he's like twenty seven years old.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Sure. Interesting. The gem of the NBA Academy Africa Project,
which I have never heard of, but that sounds interesting.
I'm actually going to look into that.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
And he's a guy who like Houston, not that like
Houston shut him down, not that it's hard to shut
him down, but Houston like completely took him out of
the game against in that final four game or in
the yeah, final four he had like three rebounds or
something in the game.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Oh really, this is such a surface level comparison, so
I almost feel bad about making it, but I'm going
to because that's the show. Can he become a Bismack
Bimbo right now?
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yeah, I'd say so, Like he's probably never gonna get
the offense like Bismack Bumblehead, which is not saying a lot,
but Bismacks later used to get to hit the three
a little bit. He feels like a guy where you're
a young like if if we were if he was
a football player and he's coming in and Jacksonville Jaguars
got the new GM, right, He's a guy that you
can draft and say I want to work on this guy,
(33:11):
and he'll keep you a job for two, three four years.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Is he a thorn maker?
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Not nearly as skill on offense?
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Okay, well yeah sure, But okay, which.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
I still think Thon Maker can be an all time
at NBA.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Great, I mean sived. He has potential, that's for sure, right,
he could do it.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
There's a story that busy, No, I don't think so.
There's that story where you didn't know if he was
like nineteen or twenty eight or whatever.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
It's insane. Okay. Other guys here that you want to
talk about the europe down.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Jace Richardson's awesome. Jason Richardson's son from Michigan State. Okay, yeah,
high flyers, can score the ball from anywhere on the court.
He's very fun to watch. He was a big reason
Michigan State was like really good last year.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Was so he was just a freshman then at Michigan
State as well. Interesting, Okay, I.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Didn't know Jason Richardson incredible two thousand's NBA player to
a dunk contest. Not that he's gonna be like I
think he's probably a better player than Jason Richardson, but
he'll be fun like he'll be. Him being ranked you know,
eighteenth is kind of crazy, like I would take him
end of the top ten.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Oh really, okay.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
I think he comes in and plays right away. The
only problem is is he's six to one and he's
not a blankard. But but he can play.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Okay, I like that. I like that. Yeah. I mean
I feel like a lot of NBA, like former NBA
kids that come in are always, i mean, except for Brownie,
are usually pretty skilled, like they get their based on
their skill and their name and then they're just undersized weirdly, right,
kind of feels like this guy.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Then right at the bottom there, Danny Wolf is a
is it an interesting player seven footer at Michigan who
was awesome at Michigan last year. He can hit the three,
he can score all over and not you would think
he would be a better defender for seven foot but
he's not a bad defender, like being a you know,
if he gets drafted at twenty five, like if if
someone like the Thunder, like if the Thunder get him,
(35:08):
that's incredible.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Sure, yeah, yeah, I think that makes sense. And obviously
we look at you know, the two teams that were
in the NBA Finals and stuff. They have a bunch
of big guys that are versatile, like he's switching on
to people. So I'm sure, you know, I would assume
other teams are going to start to try to mimic
that and stuff. So like that he kind of fits
into that mold a little bit. Interesting. Oh, he's an
(35:32):
IVY League guy.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Then, so he was part of the Yale team that
that upset Auburn two years ago.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Sure, so he's one of the few I would say
in the first round probably that our upperclassmen then right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Yeah, uh and then just one more Leam McNeely at Yukon.
He's part of both those champions. Or No, he's a freshman,
so he came in. They were like he was the
best player on the team this year. He's a he's
more of like JJ Reddick type more than con kinniple.
But they're very similar players.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Okay, big, yes, thirty point shooters.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
So and he's a fun guy. He talks shit too.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah, you could tell white guy with the head band
he has. Yeah, does he have a legit range or
like he's a college three?
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Okay, No, he can hit, and he's a coach by
Dan Hurley, So he's got grit. He's you know, he
can get yelled at a little bit.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
True. Is Dan Hurley gonna be the new Knicks coach?
Or did the Knicks already name a coach. I didn't listen.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
No, they haven't named the coach. But every single team
that they've tried to you've seen that. Every they deny it.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Yeah, it's so funny. You why why no, you can't
take our head coach?
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Losers And and I'm like, I love when the Knicks
are good because I think New York basketball is good
for basketball. But if they were like the Celtics, I
would hate him. But I like, I want the Knicks
three good. But it's very funny that no, they're not,
you know, they don't have a head coach.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
It's gonna get to a point where they're like, you
know who we should have to interview. We should interview Thibodeau. Great,
right now, you would be a great coach. Okay, any
other first rounders here that you think in the right
landing spot they could actually be really solid?
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Uh? Nothing crazy, Like Georgetown has Thomas Orber, who, like
I know that the Pelicans like him. I don't know
it might like take him at seven might be a
little too high. Uh, he's it's probably a lazy comparison
because they're both Gorgetown guys. But he's a little Roy
hibbert ish where he can bang inside Greg reebones and
put backs and not much else.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Yeah, you're right there, Like I don't know much about
this guy, but I know Roey Hibbert doesn't have much else. Yeah,
for sure. Does it feel like there's more big guys
than normal? I mean, yeah, the top ten, I guess
it's a lot of guards.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
But yes, there are. There are a lot of big guys.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Interesting. So it's a two night event everyone, I mean,
Isaac glued to the day two. So, right, who are
some potential guys that we may know or some potential steals?
Maybe on day two they could go.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Like the obvious one is Walter Clayton, Right, he kind
of just carried Georgia, carry Georgia, and he's an incredible player. Uh,
he's a little small to be to be, you know,
a go to guy. But if he you know, if
he ends up like not not to the jury of
being the top ten player in the league like Gillen Brunson,
but if he has a you know, a great career,
Like how the fuck do we let him slide to
the second round? I could totally see that. Like he's
(38:31):
a guy who can hit everywhere, he plays defense, like
he not that he single handley brought Florida there, but
you know he was the reason that Florida won a championship.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
I mean he is the reason. Like if the game's
close at all near the end, it's like, okay, Florida
is gonna win because he's just gonna take over. He
has that he's got Jef Curry, that he's good, he's
got the it, like he's going to find a way
to score and make the play.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
And he's been a guy who you know, he's got
his Austin story. He's been like three different colleges and
got a championship. Kind of you know, he's not gonna
get draft early because he's twenty three years old. But
you know, if let's say another like it because Oklahoma
City has six first round picks over the next two drafts.
But like if he ends up in Oklahoma City and
he's running the second Union, You're like, how the fuck
(39:17):
did we let Oklahoma City get Walter Clayton?
Speaker 2 (39:21):
My only thing? And I hate it because he can't
do jack shit about it. I don't know if Walter
Clayton works off the bench or like in that type
of role. I feel like he needs to be a
leader on the floor.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Right, Yeah, the only reason, like if you bring him
off the bench, he's a guy who has to have
the ball in his hands, and like if he if
he can develop into like a like a Lou Williams
type player, that would be an incredible career trajectory for him.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah. Yeah, we know he can play. It's just we
know he can play when he's on the floor and
can settle into a game and feel it out and
set people up and blah blah blah blah blah. It's
similar to the NFL where it's like, Okay, we got
this really good twenty per carry running back, twenty carry
per game guy. What if we put him on the
field for five carries and you know, with another guy,
(40:08):
Let's see how it is, you know, a La Houston
this year. So goo, maybe Nick Chubb's not gonna be
very good with seven carries. Maybe he gets better as
the game goes on. Stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
It also feels like Walter Clayton could be a guy
that you know, gets drafted by like I don't know,
like a loser team, like like the Trail Blazers or something,
and they don't develop him and he and he sits there,
you know, and he's like, you know, fuck this, I'm
out of here after two years and he ends up
like on the Celtics and starts.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Dominating, or he's just going to be like solid with
the Blazers or the Nets or somebody like that for
two years and then just basically not get a second
contract right done. Like I could see that too.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
I will say, uh, just just just for my own biases,
I'll talk about Drake Poulll from North Carolina. He's a
guy who should probably stay in college another year. He's
a really good player. He's lengthy, he can knock down
a three. He's a good defender. He's just raw, like
he needs. He needs a year or two of development
yet before he becomes a real good NBA player.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
For the NBA, I can't remember their rule, Like I know,
you can declare for the draft and then pull if
he doesn't get drafted. Could he still go back to
college or no?
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Or is he in if he doesn't sign an agent. Well,
I don't know if that's changed with nil, but it
used to be if he didn't if you didn't sign
with an agent, you can go back.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
Interesting, Okay, that's so weird. If you could like just
put your name in, not sign, not get drafted, and
then just be like, hey, we're cool, We're back right,
it doesn't matter. That's super weird. A lot of I
mean a lot of people know kelk Frenner. He was
at great in Forever. He's a stud. Do you think
that translates to the NBA?
Speaker 1 (41:46):
For sure, He's an awesome player. He's gonna be great
in the NBA. So like a four time Defensive Player
of the Year, Like he's defender. I think he's like
a thirty four to thirty three point shooter. He had
a forty point game is this year in college? Like
he can score the ball. It's another guy where like
how did he why? Why is he a second wrong guy?
And again it's because he's, you know, not not the
(42:07):
fastest guy. But if you're seven foot you're just gonna
in the paint the whole time. And he's twenty three
years old.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Get him to Utah stat it would look like a
Utah guy. Yeah, for many reasons. They will love writing
help Runner.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
I feel like, yep, he feels like a guy. And
I'm just saying this as a Bucks fan, Like he
could easily replace Perk Lopez and start a line up.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Sure, sure, that's actually not bad thing for a team
that obviously needs to read tool and go yeah right now,
and I have time to sit and develop people. That's
an interesting pick.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
If you scroll down, scroll down a little bit, like
jan I Broom one Player of the Year, there's no
reason that he should be the fortieth ranked player like
he's he's definitely a top twenty guy in the draft.
It just again he's old, and I mean he's a
little undersized, but he can paying inside.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Yeah, I was gonna say, so six nine. Does that
work for the NBA? It's a weird in between.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
Probably not, Like he's not gonna he can step out
and hit the three every now and then. He's not
gonna be He's not gonna need to do that in
the in the NBA. But again, it's the same thing.
It's the same argument I've always had in the NFL draft,
Like the Heisman winner, why wouldn't you take the best player?
You know, if you're if the guy take the best
player in college basketball last year? Sure, yeah, there's a
reason he was voted.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
The best Yeah, best player on the best team. The
entire year, and yeah, he was great. Right, So let's say, uh,
Cooper Flag sucks to suck, gets hurt right away, does
not get to play the majority of the season. If
you had to pick one of these guys to win
Rookie of the Year, then who do you think it
(43:44):
would be?
Speaker 1 (43:46):
I would you know, my heart wants me to say
Trey Johnson just because he's going He's the guy who's
gonna be on the highlights. He's gonna be the flashy guy.
He's gonna be you know, all all the twelve yearls
on TikTok are gonna love him because he's so fun
to watch. But the best player outside of Cooper Flag.
Obviously it depends on landing spots, right, but it's probably
Dylan Harper, especially if if he if he falls to
(44:07):
which he's not going to. Maybe not because he's not
gonna get a lot of time to spurs. Maybe someone
I could see, I can even see like like I
hate to say it, but like Conkin Hipple, I don't
hate that. If the Pelicans, you know, get Jeremiah Fears
like the Pelicans have been looking for a point guard
to run their team since Chris Paul left like if
if that works at all, like Xion stays healthy, I
(44:28):
could see Jeremiah Fears being in there. Other than that,
like it like it's it's Cooper fight h Bailey. I
don't like ah Bailly. A lot of people do. I
wouldn't surprise me if he's if he started good.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Okay, that's fair looking back, So NBA is weird. They
don't usually do trades during the draft. I would say,
at least for superstars and stuff. But like, is there
any team that actually could move out of this top
five or so a?
Speaker 1 (44:59):
Theoretically speaking, the Spurs should move down or should you know,
move for a player. It's not gonna happen. Philadelphia is
in a spot where if someone talks happened and someone
became available. Like I said, they're a playoff team. If
you add you know, a vet, they're they're they're gonna work.
They should trade out. Brooklyn is interesting because Cam Johnson
(45:19):
has always been is always going to be floated around
as a trade piece. D'Angel russells I was gonna be
floated around. I could see them moving back because again
I think they're, you know, a veteran away from being
a playoff team. Wizards should move up. Jazz again, it's
another one like Lori Martin is always going to be
floated out there because he's a good player on a
bad team. I think I think they could move. They
(45:41):
could move so the Rocket so Phoenix got the Rockets
pick for in that Durant trade. I could see. I
could see them trying to move up because Phoenix or
I mean sorry, moved back because they want picks and
they got one first rounder and five second rounders for Durant.
They need to retool and they're not. They're not gonna
trade bred I think is no trade clause. And he's
(46:01):
making like forty million dollars, So why would you, you know,
why would you leave that to move up? Like Oklahoma
City can honestly put them together. They have three first
round picks.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
That's insane. They could do that.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
That's crazy, right the heat, you know, I could see
them on the phone.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Was that the Clippers logo?
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Yeah, a new logo is horrible?
Speaker 2 (46:23):
God, that's bad.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
Okay, Yeah, like the Sun's Yeah, it feels like the
Sun's the nets Utah. Maybe Atlanta is on the phone.
I think I've heard I've seen reports them shopping tray
Young a little bit. Other than that, I think there's
a lot of good freshmen in this draft. Like, if
you're not getting Cooper Flag or Dylan Harper, I think
(46:47):
you're all right taking any of the guys available.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
For the most part, Did Portland get fucked or did
they actually finish someone they got fucked? Did they Okay?
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Yep?
Speaker 2 (46:58):
That sucks. Yeah, Spurs are some interesting so that Spurs
have number two and number fourteen. Yeah, obviously they were
hoping to make him play at Giannis. I don't think
that's possible. Now. Is there like another superstar they could
go after that even makes sense?
Speaker 1 (47:17):
No, honestly in terms of superstar, like if you're gonna
get a guy like they need wing Like I love
Harrison Barnes. He's he's a Carolina guy. People hate on him.
He came in and won a championship Broadway. I think
he's a solid player. I don't know I would I
would call Toronto but brandon Ingram they just got him
to probably not can get rid of him. I would
call Brooklyn about Cam Johnson.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Not that this makes sense for them, but are is
there any possibility the Pelicans move on from Zion?
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah? I mean there's a possibility to I think, I
don't think it's gonna happen, Like if they move on
from Zion, I don't know that he has high value
right now. Well, of course he has high value, right
He's Ion, and he's always gonna have potential. But I
don't like, what's the asking price for Zion? Like what
do you want in return for Zion is a whole issue,
because if you're you're gonna get forty games out of him,
and you're gonna get a twenty point per game guy
(48:12):
for forty games, but you're getting nothing for the other
half of the.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Season, right, Like, if I'm New Orleans at this point,
I'm trying to cut ties, Like would you Yeah, I would.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
For sure, I think, But I think they're in a
situation where they just might have to ride out his
contract and let him sign somewhere else just because nobody's
gonna give up so much for forty games.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Yeah, but I mean, what's what's so much? I put
zero value in fucking NBA draft picks, But because I've
seen Rudy Gobert go for five first round picks, right, Like,
why wouldn't the Spurs trade number two overall? For Zion
and is that enough? I have no idea, Like, I
don't know when it.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
All boils down to it, Zion is probably the number.
Like if you were putting Zion in the draft right now,
where he's at, he's probably the second best player in
the draft.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
So okay. So I've watched three or four Duke games
this past year, yep, and so like watching Cooper flag
was good, but like to me, he blended in and
then all of a sudden he had twenty five points.
That's kind of how it felt if you had to
just put it in perspective, how good of a prospect
(49:23):
is he you you said something about Victor.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
I think he's a better prospect than Victor wemen Yama,
just in terms of being NBA ready, Like he's ready
to go. I think he's gonna be All Star right away.
I think he's run away Rookie of the Year like once.
And I don't even know if Kyrie irvans when he's
gonna come back. But if Kyrie Irving comes back at
the end of the year, like a lot, they're gonna
have a lineup of Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Cooper,
(49:47):
Flag and Daniel Gafford, Like that's a that's at least
a five seed in the West. To me, I think
he's gonna make an instant impact. He helps Anthony Davis
defensively because Cooper Flag is so good on defense that
Anthony Davis can kind of focus on offense a little bit.
Like he's great and like and he's like he should
be graduating high school. He should have just graduated high school,
and he's gonna be, you know, in the NBA Draft. Yeah, yeah,
(50:10):
he four went his senior year in high school.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
Fuck that dude. Okay, Like he can.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
Score all over the court. For the defense is certainly
what brings him over the top. I would say he's
probably the best prospect like of course Victor vonn Yana,
but like Kate County, since Kate Countingham, maybe yeah, I
would put him in the Kate Cunningham not quite Anthony
Davis style of prospects. But and the guys that are
(50:39):
going to be franchise changers.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Sure, okay, Okay, Like I mean I'm not a huge
basketball guy, right, Like I know it enough, I just
haven't kept up with it. And it's like, yeah, I knew,
I knew Flag was the number one pick. I just
didn't know, like, is he that that good? Like he's
a no miss prospect you're saying.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
Correct, I And I hate watch Duke every single year.
I hate watched him this year because they like people
were talking about Duke is like the next coming to
Jesus Christ. And I want to hate like I hate
Cooper Flight, I want to hate him, but like every
time I watch this guy is like he's far and
away the best player in college basketball. This year. He
didn't win Player of the Year, but he can do everything.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Sure, Sure, I didn't realize how good on defense he was.
I guess too. And that's obviously to your point about
being NBA ready. It's like, yeah, I can score the ball,
but can you actually defend anybody you're saying, right, you
think can come in and All Stars, obviously you can.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
Yeah, And I mean he was given the work to
not that it really matters, but he was given the
work to the Olympic team in their scrimmage, right.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
Yeah, we remember that story that came out that he
like schooled them whatever. Yeah. Yeah, that's the first time
I even heard his name before. I don't know if
other people like knew him before that or not, but
I had no idea who he even was. I saw
the name flag and representing our country and I got excited.
So yeah, which.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
Is crazy as a guy out of like the middle
of the boonies and mean that he's gonna be he's
probably the best player in the NBA and like, yeah,
probably the best player in the NBA in ten years.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
This is like, do we know anything about his family?
Like are they athletes or was this just a fluke?
Speaker 1 (52:18):
They're athletes, They're very hateable.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Yeah, unsure I from my connection or it's your connection
that's bad. But either way, Uh, breaking up right now,
but I think this is a good spot to end anyway.
But I will say right now we're recording this Monday.
We're live right now. Monday, Tuesday, Luke's mock draft goes
out on floresports dot org and then Wednesday is the
(52:49):
NBA Draft, which we all knew. We all knew that
was happening this quickly. I'm not the only one surprised.
So definitely go to florysports dot org tomorrow Tuesday to
see where Luke is rejecting these guys to go, and
then tune in for both nights at the NBA Draft,
but especially Thursday. You definitely want to see who your
teams are getting in the second round of the draft.
(53:11):
That's the most important round. That is the NBA Cup
of Rounds, I would say, so, uh, stay tuned for
next week. Jake will be back and we'll hear Jake's
impressions of how the NBA Draft shaped out. So we
will see you then. Goodbye.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
Fuck yeah
