Speaker 1 (00:02):
Steve, my good man, how the devil are you?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm very good, buddy, I'm better now you've cracked a beer,
because I didn't think we were going to get a
beer crack in at this time.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Of night, mate. I've been saving that so for context there,
Steve and I have just spent in the last two
hours recording Patreon podcasts, so I had resisted drinking during that,
which was probably for the best because by the time
we got to the end of that one, Steve, I'd
lost all of my ability to read what I'd written
(00:34):
down on the page. So yeah, that was more of
a more of a scripted show that one, just because
of the amount of information that was there. So this
is back to a more chatty kind of show. So
I can crack a beer and we can just talk.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah, this feels more normal. But yes, the equilibrium has
been restored.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Exactly that, my friend. How was your weekend anyway, Steve?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
My weekend was all right. I can't remember much about it.
What would we do? Oh? Yeah, sir, I had a
hospital Friday, so we were there all day. She was
getting pumped full of druggy stuff. I can't remember what
we did Friday night. Saturday, went around the mums, chainsawed
down some trees. That's fun, playing lumberjack, playing the lumberjack. Yeah,
(01:19):
that was good, fun, built the shared that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Nice. Yeah, very manly day.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yes, yeah, I was really torn to shreds by the
end of it. I enjoyed it a lot. I really
enjoyed it. I had my high protective thongs on my
feet just in case I dropped the tree on it.
You know, I was a real health and safety nightmare
on Saturday. Back cares no one was around.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Well, I say it. You can't sue anyone if it
goes wrong if you're just doing it at home.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, exactly. If I could bab myself with a bit
of tree, no one cares, how would you?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Well I could still record from hospital.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
That's fair. I don't know, man, I spent a lot
of time and at the end and then the signal
that is not great or it was a long time
ago that I was there, so maybe the signal's.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Better now, be fair, signal's pretty good in there now, Okay,
fair enough?
Speaker 1 (02:12):
My weekend was good. What did I do? Formula one
at the weekend was banging Silverstone, just classic British weather
making for a ridiculous race, So that was fun. Nico Hulkenberg,
Steve got on the podium. Oh my god, he's two
hundred and thirty ninth race and he's finally got on
(02:33):
the podium.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Oh good lad well done. Nothing like being a late bloomer.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
No exactly, So that was fun. But yeah, Silverstone was good.
Else did I get up to I feel like it'd
some other things. I woke up being waterboarded by a
leaking roof in the caravan the other day. That wasn't
so good. It turns out an old caravan and the
Scottish Highland weather just it's it's it's coming to the
(02:59):
end of its life, Steve. So yeah, I got up
a bit wet and cold the other day, but that's
now sealed. It's okay. I had a text about an
hour ago from Shari saying I don't want to speak
too soon, but currently there's no leaks, so that's good
because it only leaks on my side of the bed.
Sharie's side stays warm and dry, mine stays wet and cold.
But there we go.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Chivalry never dies. They are a gentleman keeping the ladies.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Exactly exactly that and so the owners of the hostel
as well have got their parents up this weekend, so
they have co opted the room that had become my
recording studio. Steve, I'm back in the shipping container, so
it's but it looks quite cold and uncomfortable in here.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah. Yeah, you look a bit more dressed up, more
like Scottish Highland weather gear. But I will tell you
one thing. The signal was bere.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, I'm not relying on the hostel wi Fi. I've
got good enough four G here that I've got it.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Now.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
My phone's propped up at the window. The signal seems
to be holding. It's held for the last two hours,
so hopefully it continues to hold. As a crack on
with this show.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
There's not been a glipse, there's not been a drop nothing.
So yeah, hopefully hopefully this the show will hold out.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yes exactly, but yes so, Steve, we are here today
to preview Saxon Ring. We've got a few news items
to chat about, and then we'll discuss what we're looking
for in Saxon Ring itself and we'll make our predictions
and that's pretty much gonna round out the show. I
think it's gonna be I think, quite a short one.
There's not a huge amount of news happening before the
(04:33):
race weekend.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
No, it's been a very steady week looking through socials,
all these guys who we've just been enjoying, like a
long week's break. There's been a lot of people just
it's been quiet, let's put that way.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I think everyone's just a bit chilled this week, so,
which is quite nice. It gives us a short show.
We've had a long night so and you know, well,
you guys like listening to us bang on, so we
might drag it out for about an hour or two.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I see, goes yeah, Well, on that note, Steve, shall
we dive into it.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Let's go for it, bunny good stuff.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
So I'm Tim, he's Steve, And this is for the
love of Moto GP. If you are new to the show, welcome,
(05:32):
If you are returning, welcome back. This is for the
love of Moto GP, the show where Steve and I
sit down with a couple of beers and talk about
Moto GP like we would in the pub. And just
like we do in the pub, Steve has been distracted
from what I am saying. He's looking off in every direction.
I can only assume a pretty girl has walked in
the room and grabbed his eye.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Literally that how did you know? No, there was a
very hungry looking Sarah who's just appeared in the snack
covered I was like, what the hell is that moving?
And then she's over there trying to make no noise
at all and just dropped everything out of the cupboard.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Well, I actually think she'd a very good job because
I didn't hear through my headphones at least anything happening.
I don't know if that will come through on the recording.
I could just see you laughing and looking away distractedly.
So she do a good job of keeping things quiet.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah, I didn't even hear the door open. She's very
stealthy this one. You can't have a wanging piece. I
tell you're not in this house.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah that's fair. Okay, good, I'll bear that in my
next time I'm around. Keep it in your pants, Tim.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, yeah, you need to put traps down. It's a
bit like you've got to make it like a bit
of a home alone house if you want some peace.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Got some legos. So she at least makes a noise
and she's walking down the stairs.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah. Yeah, you've got to make sure you're well and
truly safe. She will just appear behind you, you know,
at the most inept time. You're having a piece hello.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
And you just turn around in a shock and appeal
all over a feet.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, how did you get in the doors? Locked?
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Like there's you know, she's a mum, Steve. Mums have
their ways, they do.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah, they're magic.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah, quite so, stave Less dive into the news, shall we.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Let's go for it, buddy.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Excellent. So there's just a few items to cover here.
The first one off the top. The deal is done,
Steve Liberty Media have officially completed their three point five
billion euro acquisition of eighty six percent of Dorner Motor
GP Management are retaining the remaining fourteen percent. But this
(07:40):
values Dorner and Motor GP and World Superbikes or the
collective of at four point two billion euros. Now, we
will wait to see what effect this will have on
the championship. But as I've said plenty of times, I'm
really here for it.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, I'm on board for it. I didn't realize it
was that much money. The wonder Carmela after my thirty quid.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, yeah, the close bidding system, isn't it. It's a
funny thing. Yeah, we offer them like sixty quid between
us and nothing.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
No, unbelievable. Just got some envelopes back, are you fucking
king be like?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Guys, don't you know these are pounds we're offering you,
not euros? These are pounds, Yeah, exactly. You know we
we left the EU so these pounds would remain strong.
We know you want our pounds.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're rare over there.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, but yeah, it's a huge amount of money, man
like this the fact that they've spent three point five
billion and you know, the valuation is up above four
billion is just stupid, man Like, there is so much
money in these things right now. It's almost disgusting actually
(08:51):
how much money these things are worth.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
It is if you look at the wealth in some
parts of the world and then poverty and the other
is it is such a shame. But that, unfortunately is
the world we live in. It could all be sorted
out overnight, but there we are.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
But it won't be the people that can sort of
out the ones that were all the fucking money and
they don't want to share it, so they.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Certainly don't not everyone could be rich. Someone's got to
be a binman. It's a shame.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, you could be a well paid biman, though you
could be very well off. I think refuse collector would
be the PC term these days, Steve.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh, okay, sorry any bin men that I've offended.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, to be honest, mate, it's a job that I
don't think it's an unappealing job. I don't think i'd
mind it.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
No, No, out in all weather's fresh air, well so fresh.
Some of it probably bit wrong.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Yeah, stinky, but at least you're outside, and I don't know,
I don't really working with people very much, but yeah,
you get to roam around in a bin truck. You
get to Yeah, I don't think it would be ter job.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
No, No, I don't think it'd be bad at all.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Early start, early finish.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yeah, exactly. Get to wake everyone up like an alarmcock. You're
doing everyone's service as well.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah, quite. And then you get to be really dicky
and you get to be like, no, I'm not taking
that bin. If there's dirting happy in that recycling, we're
not touching.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah. You could really yeah, yeah, if you haven't a
bad day, you could really spread that love.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Oh no, I don't like look at that, but then
went back, yeah, oh that's not recyclable. No, thank you,
paintings not taking them?
Speaker 2 (10:33):
No, I'm like well selected recycling.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, all washed out and cleaned that one you say,
still not in the mood.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
No, not for you to say love. No, yeah, I'd
want a gold plated what we've got refuge collection wagon?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I see. I wonder where that was going for a minute,
was what could you possibly have gold plated here? But okay, I'd.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Want a lambo probably collect stuff in one bit at
a time.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
You think gold would actually be quite a good material. Well,
silver would be better antibacterial, yeah, yeah, gold just doesn't
react to anything, does it.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
No, it just kind of sits there.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, all would be good.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, silver would be better.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Tell you, what could you imagine the government brave enough
to be like gold plated bin wagons for everyone doing
like you've just you've just taken the money away from
the old people and the kids, and you're taking the
free school dinners away and now you give just gold
bin wagons and what's happening.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Anyway? They give themselves massive bonuses for them and screwing
people over.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
So well, that's politics.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Might Yeah, it's not gonna been that road.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Okay, So that's it. That's the that's the the Liberty
Media deal. Done. Ride to Survive Season one coming to
Netflix March twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Oh cutwait that one.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
It'd be interesting to know actually if Netflix has already been,
if there's already been cameras on the grid.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
That would be interesting surgery. And you think you'd see
it because although it was mainstream and publicized, the filming
of the F one film with Bradbitt was quite heavily broadcast,
and when you look at this that was there, it
was very obvious.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yeah, it was very interesting actually, so that's a completely
different thing, the Brad Pitt F one film. I've not
seen the film yet because our cinema here is closed
because that's just what happens is very good. Yeah, well
I've heard the storylines a bit shit. But actually, visually
the film is supposed to be stunning. I mean, it's
Jerry Brook climber, so it's going to be good in
(12:49):
the top gun vein of things. So it's going to
be really great action secuences and everyone said, like the
racing sequences are incredible and amazing how they've done it.
But yeah, they were. They filmedtuff, didn't they. So they
had these live shots of they had what's the fellaw's name,
Iddres album? Yeah, is it Elbow? Is that his name? Yeah? Yeah, No,
(13:12):
Dams and Iddriss, Dams and Iddris different Iddress So Dams
and Idriss is the actor in the film. Yeah, and
Brad Pitt and there are there. I've seen photos of
them standing in the lineup. I think it was at
the Silverstone GP in the end with all of the
other Formula one drivers. So like the action cameras filming
across for the film and it's got all these shots.
(13:32):
But actually on the broadcast when that happened, you didn't
see any of this. And they had on warm up
laps and things, they had the cars out on the
circuit with the actual Formula one cars. You never saw
any of it on the TV. But they apparently got
great footage for the films from having them there, So
if you'd been there, you'd have seen all this, but
it was never shown on TV. Like they did an
amazing job of hiding it all up. But with the
(13:55):
Netflix cameras, for example, they are all over the formula
and Paddock all the time, and you hear people saying,
there's the Netflix cameras or all be careful and Netflix
cameras are just walking past us now. They're always referencing it,
and I've not heard anyone reference. It makes me think
if they are there, they're really they're being really subtle already.
But maybe they weren't allowed to be there because the
(14:17):
media probably weren't allowed to have them, so it'll be interesting.
They've got a lot of propriety IP and footage anyway,
so they probably didn't need their own cameras there this season.
But yeah, I think there will be something coming out.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
That will be on its way and that cannot bloody wait.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah, no, me too, mate. It's gonna be banging.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Thave's gonna be so good, and.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
It's going to be met with all the same complaints
that Drives survived yet, which is going to be oh, well,
it's you know, you've changed the story here, You've you've
you've crafted a narrative that didn't exist, You've used snippets
out of context, you've put these results in the wrong order,
and that's fine because it's an entertainment product like this.
Isn't a proper hitting the Apex or Faster or fastest
(15:08):
kind of documentary. This is an entertainment product that's designed
to draw more eyes to the sport itself exactly. That's
what it does. So yeah, I'm here for it. I
cannot wait.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
No, I'm on board man. As soon as they announced that,
I'm signing up recruitment commentator. Yes, I'll put my.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Name, so next up in the news then Steve somkiat Chantra, Yes,
things are not going well for the type rider right now.
He injured the ligaments in his right knee during a
training crash while riding an off road machine and he
(15:45):
requires surgery for the injury, which was scheduled for today
as we record, so Tuesday, and he will miss the
next two rounds, both Saxon Ring and Bruno, and then
it's into the three weeks summer break. But as we've
seen with knee injury like these, things can linger, so
he could be out for a while yet. Elsie are
apparently not required to replace Chantra for Germany, but they
(16:08):
will need to replace him for the Czech Republic.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
YEP, so we will see what do we call it? Now?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Do we call it? The Czech Republic Chechier. I think
this Chechier isn't Yeah, I think it's Chechier. Yeah, okay,
they are not required. Well they will be required to
replace him for Chechia.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Yeah, yeah, we'll see one standing rider. The most important
thing is I get to this time to Yah recover.
Just been talking about him on the other show. Yeah, yeah,
that's the most important thing. It's quite well timed. Although
(16:46):
he will miss two rounds, it does lead on to
the three week break, so yes, he has got a
nice amount of time. But like you say in the notes,
these injuries do take a long time to heal. So
ultimately the only worry is he comes back strong. It
gets the time to heal. We know they won't. He'll
be out there training and trying to get back as
(17:06):
soon as possible. But these are a horrible thing. So
I think the most important thing is he just comes
back as strong as possible.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Yes, quite, and I mean we've seen in the past,
haven't we. Frankie Morbidelli was arguably ruined for years because
of a near injury. So and without being too disparaging
and getting some kiat here, he's not got the more
Bidelli levels of skill and talent has he like. He's
obviously a very good motorcycle race so don't get me wrong,
(17:38):
but he's he's not on it's level level yet, no exactly,
and I don't know, man, It's it's hard to imagine
Chantra actually getting more than this year, potentially next year
on in motor GP. So hopefully he can come back
soon and make the most of his time in the series.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yes, yeah, I do hope.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
So speaking of injured riders and Luca Marini has been
out testing again in Bruno and he is reportedly looking
at making his comeback this weekend in Saxon Ring, although
nothing is confirmed yet.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
No, no, it has been reported he'll be there, I believe,
but not whether he will ride or lot or try
to ride. But it's a good sign. It's good positive.
You know, he's at the test, he wants to come back.
So yeah, hopefully we'll see him back full tom with
the good soon.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Yes, fingers crossed. It would be good to see him back,
and actually it will be very good for Hoonder if
he comes back, because they are going to be struggling
with replacement riders right now. If they've got to field
two of them in h.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Yes, yeah, this is very true.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
And again onto injured riders Steve because it's O GP
and what are you going to do if then no
one's injured? Martin Joe Martin has a private booked for
Wednesday or the ninth of July tomorrow as we record,
but may already have happened by the time you're listing.
He will jump back aboard the Prettier RSGP, paving the
(19:11):
way for a potential return to action at the Saxon Ring.
But even if he doesn't ride there, I suspect at
the Saxon Ring, I don't know if that's right. I
think Bruno is what I meant to write there in
the notes. I think potential return to action for Bruno.
But even if he doesn't ride there, I think he'll
be back for Austria after the summer break up.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, it's looking really positive. Social media has been full flooded.
If a lot more training post a lot of pictures
won't getting back to the bike. So it's looking positive.
It does feel like it'll be within the next sort
of two or three rounds that will see him and
hopefully well does finally come back. He doesn't fucking ditch
it and injure himself again.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Mate, if he crashes that bike and gets hurt again,
there is no way he rides it ever again, and
he's just out of that deal, whether that means not
riding for a year, or whether that means going to Honda.
Like he gets hurt again this year, there is no
way he rides the Aprillier again.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
No, he'll just be out. I wouldn't blame him either,
I just walk about. Whatever you want, I'll give you
to get out of this contract. Just let me go. Yeah, yeah,
there'll be opposits for him, So I just want to
see him back. Though we need him on the grid.
It does need him.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah, it's been such a shame that he's not been here,
like to try and defend that number one player, as
futile as that would have been this year on the Appreya,
to try and defend it, but even to just kind
of be the spoiler and get in the fight occasionally
and do what Bozeki's been able to do this year
on that bike. Like, it's been such a shame that
he's not been there, and it's been such a shame
that his arguably his title win last year has sort
(20:48):
of been tarnished by all of this bullshit that's been
going on right now, mainly from his camp, but between
him and A Priller.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Yeah, yeah, it does feel like this is going to
be his kind of lasting legacy. Is this bit not
his title win, which is a show. But hopefully he
can come back stronger and all this can just be
a little bit of a blip and then we could
get back to proper racing winning ways and everyone can
just remember the title with not what happened this year.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Yeah, I hope, So I hope. But the problem I'm like,
because it feels huge right now, Like this storyline feels massive,
but I suppose when you're going through something, especially something
a bit shit, it always feels huge and I cannot
imagine a world beyond this. But there obviously will be
a world beyond this, But it does feel like this
(21:40):
storyline now is always going to be intrinsically linked with
his first title, Like it's hard to imagine if unless
he manages to get on another bike and win another title,
or even do it on the A Prillia and win
a title on the Aprillia, Like, I feel like his
title will almost always be tarnished by this next chapter
because they're so lind.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Yeah, I think he could be right, I do, hope not.
I think ultimately he just needs to get back on
a bike and just get get back out there and
publicizing what he can do.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Yeah. Yeah, fingers crossed. I mean the guy's a beast,
like he's a good rider, insane rider. Yeah, it will
be such a shame if that is. That's the phone
across the room.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, gone again, fucking work phone.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
But well, let's hope no one from work listeners to
this show, Steve.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
They don't give a ship. I haven't kind of formed
on them like I did the last place.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
It's probably easier this way. This way, at least you
can runt about working.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yeah, exactly. I soon realized the last one I was
sort of maybe sprouting off a bit much, and people
are like, oh, we listened.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
To Yeah, I think no one that I work with
even thoughs what the show is called. So I think
we're safe. And to be honest, Steve, as it turns out,
when you google mtup podcasts and you find the lists,
then you can find our show. But they don't get
my name right in a lot of these lists, so
even then, it's going to be hard for people to
(23:12):
really nail it down to this being us.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yes, for anyone who wants to name to him, he
is currently mister Patterson.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah exactly. Yeah, Tim Patterson. In case you're wondering, that's uh,
that's how the Internet has decided my name.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Absolutely amazing, it's very good.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, and that's all because we had Simon Patterson on
the show that time, so he's listed as a guest,
and I know someone was writing some crappy article decided
that that was my name, and now that's just been
copied by everyone else, including Google's AI. So here we go.
My my entire identity has been destroyed, just.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Wiped out by the Internet. But yeah, so nukes for
the show, mister Perfinson.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah exactly. This is the dystopian world we live in now.
Someone gets your name wrong one time, and that's it.
Your name is wrong forever.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
That's it. You're off.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
You're incriminated quite but at least this was David probably
means I can say what the fuck I like and
there's no repercussions from it.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
So yeah, you can just blame mister Patterson.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah, but I don't know what you're talking to me, mate, speak.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
To that guy I'm over here like.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
So, yeah, that's pretty much the news, Steve. It's a
short one today, so let's take a quick break and
then when we come back, we will have a quick
chat about what we're looking for in Saxon Ring. Let's
do it, buddy good stuff. So guys, bear with us
for just one moment and we will be right back
(24:49):
with you. Thank you for bearing with us. We are back.
I'm not going to crack another beer because it's getting
(25:11):
over the white late, so I've still got I just
fizzed it a bit, but you know, a third of
a can here. I'm on the Holston pills today, Steve.
I've never had one of these before, but in classic
someone left it in the hostel and Tim Stolet fashion,
that's what we're drinking today.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Is it stealing? If someone left it now, they left.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
It on a free shelf to be fair. But I'm
you know, I'm up early in the mornings and that
I get to clean the kitchen, so I get to
check the free items before any other guests turn up.
So I get to hand pick what I would like
to have from said items and alcohol is always going
in my drawer.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
For fair games, you get to yeah, yeah, you get
to sneak the Bollinger out.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
And no, to be fair, I will take the beer.
There are no questions. I'm having them. If it's a
wine or a spirit, I often leave it in the
office and tell everyone I've done it, and if it's
still there in three or four days, then I might
take it. But I do give the rest of the
staff a chance, because everyone else will drink spirits and
(26:15):
wine and stuff, but generally not the beer. So yeah,
it feels, you know, I'm surrounded by Scott's so like
they if I took all the alcohol, yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
You know, English, They're gonna they're gonna really take pleasure
in that one quat.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, if it's a whiskey, there's no chance. Nah, unless
it's a ship whiskey, and then they all just like
I don't want that.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Yeah, yeah, they take great pleasure and sacrifice in one
of us.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
So yeah, exactly exactly. They're very much screaming freedom while
running at you with the sword dressed in blue. Yeah exactly.
But from the Gales to the Celts, Steve, we are
going to Saxon Ring in Germany this weekend for Moti.
(27:10):
Is it Bavaria?
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I don't know. I've just made that ship up.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Yeah, I don't think it's Bavaria. I don't know where
saxon Ring is actually in Germany. Let's have a look,
we've got we've got time to fill. Have a quick
Google Germany map.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
It's there, It's in Germany. It's god.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
It is. Let's zoom out here.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Thanks, Ring in a Braveria.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Just it's in ober lung Wits wherever that is. We are.
We're quite close to the Czech border. Actually, I can
see why they decided to do saxon Ring and Bruno
very close to each other, because it's not far from
(28:05):
kind of equidistance from Leipzig and Dresden. So yeah, pretty
close to the Czech border. Yeah, I don't know what.
I don't know enough about German geography to know what
region of Germany that would be in fair enough. I
think Bavaria would be closer to the Alps, wouldn't it,
so it would be more like Munich area.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
No, I don't really know, don't.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I just made something up.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Never been to Germany even now I look at it
on the map. Germany is fucking massive.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Germany is pretty hinge, mate, there's a lot of it.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Yeah, It's almost the size of France. Like there's a
lot going on there.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah, it's a pretty big country. You start looking out
on a mapp and like, holy shit, Yeah, there's a
lot of you. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
I think, off on the top of my head, I
think the south is more mountainous, and then kind of
the north is a bit flatter.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
But I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Yeah, I could be making it up entirely. Who knows.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
I've got clue, not a scooby.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Mate, No, But that's that's okay, Steve, because the podcast
about motorcycle racing, not about geography, so we don't e
stress geography. Yeah, exactly. So Steve, what are we looking
for in Saxon Ring this coming weekend?
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Lots of stuff, mate, lots of stuff. I want to
see motorcycle racing.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Okay, easy, he want to see motorcycle racing. Good start,
So Mark Marquez then, obviously Mark has traditionally ruled in Germany,
but he hasn't stood on the top step since twenty
twenty one, though he was second in the Grand Prix
here last year aboard his year old to Catty said
that might be telling for what could happen this weekend.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
This is just Goba be a Mark Whitewash. I'm sure
of it.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah, he obviously goes into this waist right into this
race is the favorite. But we'll that actually translates into
a win because he's made errors that some of his
favorite tracks this year, So it's not a nailed uncertainty
that it will take the win. I'm starting to feel
like it's more certain he's going to take the win
at tracks that he traditionally struggles around rather than tracks
(30:15):
that he traditionally crushes it up.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yeah, it does feel a little bit that way. I
just can't look around the fact that he is so
good around this track that now he's on that much,
that Tokaty the best bike on the grid, he's on form.
I just can't see it going any other way. I'd
love to think it wouldn't and someone to take the
fight to him. We've got a real tussle on her hands,
(30:42):
But I can't see anything other than a Marquez triple
this weekend.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, that's sort of how I feel I could to see,
though a spoiler maybe not the triple because I could
see a Fabio Guaateraro being a little bit of a
spoiler for pole position and seen him do on numerous
occasions this year.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, I did think that a little bit. But I've
got a feeling. I just I just got a feeling
this weekend Marcus is going to have a point to
prove a really nails and coffin. Sorry, my chair is
just freaking out under me. I just I can't look
past the triple, I really can't. I love to think
(31:23):
someone's going to be very close, within like a thousand,
so it's going to be a real nice, cool battle
for the qualifying But I don't know, sax.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, it's either going to be quite close and someone
like Fabio or potentially Alex Marquez is going to be
able to run him really close in qualifying, or Mark's
going to be, you know, eight tenths clear. It's just
going to be never any question about it.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yeah, exactly. It's I don't know. I can't decide which
one I want more. I just I don't know. I
just can't wait. I think it's gonna be a fantastic weekend.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yeah, yeah, quite do you know that's made me think
as well, even just like saying that it's gonna be
like a thousand or he's going to be eight tenths clear.
Isn't it madness that we're living in a world right
now where and the same is true in like a
bunch of top level motorsport. But the eight tenths of
a second across the entire lap is a huge amount
of time. Like that is wild.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
It is that level of races and that close proximity
of racing and closing time, it's just nuts. Yeah, we're talking.
We haven't talked about there's a second gap for in
qualifying or something. I can't remember the last time.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
It's especially not like a dry like I'm sure in
the last kind of five years there's been a weird
qualifying session where someone's put it on top by like
one point one point two seconds or whatever. But in
a dry race weekend, Like, what's the biggest qualifying margin
we've seen in the last decade? Like I don't know
this off top of my head, but if it's decade,
(32:59):
if it's more than a second, like something weird has
happened like this, I wonder what the average I suppose
pole position time is over the last decade.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Probably one point four or something like that, maybe less
one point three.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Average. You reckon, I reckon the average is like a
technical or two.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I don't know. We have since of fluctuations, but really
it's getting closer and closer. So I think, as with
a variation, it might average itself out a little bit more.
But at the minute, I don't know. I just I
don't really if I'm honest, I don't really care. I
just want fantastic racing.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
That's all it takes about fantastic racing. But then arguably
it's a weird thing, isn't it, because you think like
closer times should mean fantastic racing, but not always that
doesn't actually translate a lot of the time.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
No, No, Sometimes closer races just means a freak procession. Yeah.
If there's more variation, then there's more fluctuation in the racing.
So quite No, sometimes less there's more.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Yeah. So I'm just gonna go and have a bit
of a play here. I'm going to look at the
Q two times for Germany last year, right, and the
gap between Juhe Martin who was on poll and the
Gelola Era in second was point zero four eight seconds
(34:26):
so you could call that five tenths of a second. Yeah, No,
that's not five tenths is it. That's five hundreds of
a second. Yeah, five hundreds of a second. Now let's
go back to how fuck away? I don't know how
long Germany's been on the calendar, which is annoying. But
let's go back twenty years. So we're going back to
(34:46):
two thousand and four, a German event in two thousand
and four. Yes, there was, that's a result, and we
go to the qualifying time. Oh no results? Why no results? Ah?
Is there only GP website that up to date. It's
got race results, but it hasn't got qualifying results. So
(35:07):
just get to twenty fourteen. Then German Grand Prix twenty
fourteen qualifying Mark Marquez was on top then by three
tenths of a second. Yeah, so that's already time six.
So yeah, I don't know. That's just a quick look,
but I think it's getting closer and closer every years.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
It's definitely getting closer and closer every year. Yeah, it's
I don't know, I don't know what I prefer, as
long as it's good racing at the end of the day.
The qualifying times don't always translate into what's going to
happen on race day. So as long as race day
comes around, and that's fantastic, I think that is the
(35:51):
main thing.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Yeah, that's fair, that is and that is the important thing. Actually,
it doesn't really matter how close the times are as
long as the racing is really really good.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Yeah, exactly how many times have we seen the pole
sitter fall back to fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth by the
first lap because they had a shit start? Yeah, you know,
it all works in relatives sometimes.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I think Marque is just going to dominate this weekend.
So that's my opinion.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Yeah, no, I think on paper, you all right, I
hope it's different. But then the only way it's different
is if he crashes, Isn't it like that's the only way,
And I don't want to see that. No, exactly exactly.
Alex Marquez, then Steve bouncing back from injury. We've got
no real idea how Alex will perform this weekend. His
run and form this year has been nothing sure of astounding,
(36:43):
and he's had recent form around Saxon Ring. He's got
podium here last year in the I suspected. He benefited
a lot from seeing Mark's data last year because they
were on the same bike in the same team and
they were sharing data, and he will get some level
of benefit from that this year. But he's also just
on another level this year, So even injured, it's hard
(37:06):
to imagine he won't be on the podium.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Yeah, I don't know exactly where it'll be. I can't
make up my mind, but it's hard to think that
he won't be. So I'm still going to tip it
for a podium. It's going to be a tough race
because obviously the injury, but I still think he should
be on the podium. So I think he'll have a
good weekend.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Yeah, I suspect, so I'll be surprised if he doesn't.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
I don't know. Has he put much on so that
you follow all these guys on social media much more
than Ida, and by that I mean I don't follow
them at all than you do. So has there been
anything from Alex about his surgery or going into this race.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
I've seen it at all. It's been quite quiet from
the Marquez camp all round.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Yeah, Yeah, it's been a very sort of steady, slow
kind of low key postings all this stuff, nothing outlandish,
would sort of say, yeah, you know up here, I'm
doing this. So the last post he put out was
what first, did you lie? That was it?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Okay? So we ago today?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Yeah, so the first July, first check out after surgery,
very positive. Let's start the rehabilitation. That's it. The post
before that, twenty eighth of June.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Okay, so he's going to come in a bit sore,
but probably feeling pretty good, i'd imagine.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yeah, I think so. I think he'd be all right.
I think it'll be painful, but he'll be okay.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Yeah, great, And you know, they got some pretty good
painkilling injections, so they'll be able to work some wonders
on him.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah, exactly. I might show him the racing line a
little bit more. The colors start fluttering across the track.
You know you've had too many.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Yeah, I don't think they have that good painkilling injections
if they want to ride with them. Unfortunately, they're not
smashing back the morphine and then jumping on track.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
I feel like that's warm breaking zone. Yeah, quite optional.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Next up then Steve Peco Bagniga. Peco won at Saxon
Ring last year, beating Mark Marquez by almost four seconds,
and he was on the podium in the sprint, and
while it's not his best track of all time, he
does have form in Germany, although much like Alex we
can kind of throw previous form out of the window
this year because we've got no idea whether that's going
(39:39):
to translate into results or not.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Absolutely not at all. Again, like you say, just throw
the rule book out or the form book out the
window for this guy this year, I think he'll have
an okay weekend. I don't think you have a fabulous weekend,
but I think it's gonna be all right. Yeah, there'll
be a podium in there somewhere.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Which, yeah, it's that thing, isn't it now with Peco.
You're like, I could see him getting on the podium
during one of the races, but that's probably the best
he could hope for, potentially scoring a podium in one
of them.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Yeah, exactly. This year's form logic would say GV yeah,
and then probably a third yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Yeah, quite a prillier then. Last year, Miguel Olivera flew
the flag for the Italian brand in Germany, and while
he's no longer riding for them. Bazechi is on a
great run of form right now, so I expect to
see him pulling something out of the bag, especially if
he can qualify well. Yes, Mayagora also finished third in
(40:43):
the Motor iiO race here last year, and Ralph Andnandez
was tenth in the Motor GP race, So I got
don't know. I think the Apria probably works quite well
around this circuit. It feels like an a Prillier type
track and they've got at least three riders of the
Renza Savadory bless him is not going to be fighting
at the front, but there's a chance at Gora, even
(41:05):
Fernandez on this great run of form Me's on right now,
and certainly Bizeki could be up inside the top ten.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Yeah. I think Berzeki's gonna have a pretty good weekend,
tipping in for a top five in the GP. I
think he'll be right at the point the end and
the rest. I think we'll all have fantastic weekends as well.
Just bez is going to be that one that really
outshines the rest.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Yeah, I think that's probably the case. And KTM Katm's
best results in recent years at Saxon Ring have come
from Jack Miller, who was third in the twenty twenty
three sprint and sixth in the Grand Prix. Binda Andacosta
have also both had seventh place finishes twenty twenty two
and twenty twenty four, respectively, and in twenty twenty one
(41:53):
KTM had two factory bikes of Olive Era and Binde
in the top four. But I'm just I'm not sure
how it's going to go for them this time. I
could see a cost of being a bit of a
spoiler in the early lapse until he destroys his tires,
and there's a chance Vignalez comes good in the latter
part of the race, but I don't think either will
(42:13):
really be challenging too close at the front.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Yeah, I think you've got that absolutely spot on. I
find Elliot that really hard to disagree or come up
with a sort of count of four. So I think
you've nailed that one.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
butN okay easy And that's the end of that discussion.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Yeah, I read it earlier. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I agree with that.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
And the Japanese bikes both Hondra and Yamaha have race
wins at Saxon Ring in this decade, Mark in twenty one,
Fabu in twenty two, but there's been no Japanese bike
or the podium since then. However, as has been the
trend this year, I expect Fabio to be fast in
one lap pace, even if it doesn't come together in
the race. But this is a circuit where track position
is really important. It's really tight, it's really winding, it's
(42:59):
hard to take. So you know, a good qualifying session
for Fabio could really set him up for a good
result in the race. He's not going to pull away
like he did in Silverstone, no, but there's a chance
that if he can just nail qualifying and nail the
opening few corners, he could really be in the way
and stop people getting past him.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Yeah, exactly, he could be a real fly in the
ointment this weekend. He can qualify. I think he'll qualify
well and then hopefully, like you say, at a track
where qualifying a group position is paramount, he's standing himself
in goodstead, really realistic, have a good, good race. So
he will be the one that will spoiled the market's triple.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
Yes, yeah, I think so. I can't imagine it's hard
to see anyone else had. They're the game two guys
with pole positions right now, it's hard to imagine anyone
else scoring a pop position. But yeah, I could see
Fabio getting in amongst it and causing problems.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Yeah, yeah, are really good as well.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
And that's kind of all have got written down. I'm
also hoping though, that we're going to get some more
Martine news because I'm loving the drama, so I kind
of want to see what's who's coming out swinging next
on the apparlier thing, especially if he's ridden this bike
tomorrow as a recording in ten minutes that's today. But
I'm kind of hoping that, you know, he comes onto
that bike again and then there's going to be chat
(44:20):
because even if they seem to be getting on behind
closed doors, the media are going to be really fucking
drilling on it. And that's fine.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
Oh yeah, I think he's going to be there this
weekend if he's fit enough to test. He'll be there
to show presence and every camera will be pointed at him.
So it'll be interesting to read the body language of
the team's language and just see what is said, because
there'll be little hints dropped in conversation that sometimes questions
aren't answered, and that speaks volumes. I think there'll be
(44:48):
a lot of that this weekend.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
Exactly, and I'm quite looking forward to someone asking Bizeki
about it Andzeki being like, I really don't care my
problem I got, Yeah, quite exactly, And that's kind of
what I'm looking at Saxon Ring scene, unless you've got
anything else to add there.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
No, I just want to see the first blokes tip
it right down the waterfall, then a big ol' hill.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
And just mate, that's gonna be fun just amazing, what
an amazing circuit. That waterfall is just madness, It's funny.
I was looking at trap grap earlier and I was like,
where is the waterfall? I was looking at it and
I was like left left left left left left left
left left left left left left left left.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
Right, Yeah, the one after all the lefts Yeah exactly, Yeah,
that spot, the cold spot on the tire suddenly goes, what.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
The fuck you want me to do something?
Speaker 1 (45:47):
Yeah, it's stupid track, right, it's stupid track.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
It's enter table though, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
Yeah, I tell you what. On all of the MAGP games,
it was absolutely my favorite circuit. To ride.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
Yeah, it's good. Yeah, that series of sweeping and you
can really pin it in certain spots.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
You just throwing it into that right like on the Games.
This is obviously I have no context for reality here,
but throwing it into that right you could do so
many overtakes through there if you just nailed that and
just got it down that hill, down the straight, into
the left hand turn and the bottom. They're just incredible.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
Yeah, it's such a good track. Yeah, quite that.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Then Steve does bring us on to our predictions before
this show. So for anyone new for the love of
Moor GP, Steve and I make predictions at the start
of every race weekend where we predict the podiums for
both of the Grand Prix and the Sprint. We give
ourselves points for predictions after the race weekend, and we
(46:53):
have a little championship going on between us. Right now.
Steve is up by seven points on me in the
championship here, so he is hitting the championship in a
at personal battle of two people. But Steve is beating
me by seven points, in a solid seven points. I
think over the last few years I've got quite comfortable.
I think I think I've only lost once so the
(47:14):
last few years. So I'm feeling quite uncomfortable in this
chasing position. Steve. I'm not enjoying it very much.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
I think you've won this. I've won the Fantasy League
a couple of times more, but this is it's a
twitch turn round this year.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Yeah, quite, it's us. Yeah, I'm not so much. So
we'll go with our prediction, Steve. I'll give you my
sprint prediction first, and you call me a sprint a
Grand Prix, and I'll round it off with my Grand
Prix prediction.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Let's go for it.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
So for the sprint racey, Steve, I'm predicting a Mark
Marquez win obviously, and Alex Marquez second because until he
doesn't finish second, I can't put him anywhere but second.
And Mark Obzeki third in the sprint.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Nice. Yes, yeah, that's a nice one. I'm similar Mark
Marcus Alexs.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
No.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Actually, I'm gonna change that. I'm going to switch up
Mark Marcus Maverick Vinalas.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
Okay, I did not see that coming a dull nice.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
Okay from Alex Marcus.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Alex okay, easy, and your Grand Prix prediction.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Easy to start with, Mark Marcus. Yeah, from Alex Marcus okay,
from pec over.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Okay. And for my Grand Prix, I'm going Mark from Alex,
from Fabio to g Antonio.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:48):
Funny, isn't it. I hadn't even considered Bagnia. No. I
did consider him briefly for a sprint, but I was like,
there's no way in the GP. But no, we'll see
what happens.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
No, I don't know. I'm just going to mix it
up this weekend for a few randoms out there to
see what happens.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
AKA, give me a chance to catch up.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Okay, I feel I just want to. I don't know.
I think it's gonna be a straightforward, raceless one.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
No, I'm getting that feeling too, mate like it's a
really hard one to try and work out, and I
don't think it's going to be straightforward. I think weird
things could happen this weekend, but I don't know what
they're going to be, and I'm quite excited to see them.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Yeah, And that's why they cause predictions, because no one
really knows what's going to happen, and it's just fun.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
Exactly exactly that my friend, Well, that then, Steve, I
think brings us to the end of the show, unless
you've got anything else to add.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
I don't think sobody. I just want to let Friday
around and just get into sex and ring and enjoy
this weekend.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
Yeah, me too. I'm really really excited for it. After
a weekend without Motor GP. I'm really excited to now
be on this double header that we're about to hit.
And then we've got three weeks with no Motor GP.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
So's and it's World Superbikes this weekend as well at Donington.
Speaker 1 (50:03):
So, oh is it Donington this weekend?
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Yeah, they're just down the road from your mum. So
happy guys. Lots of entertainment this week I mate.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Yeah, I imagine my siblings will be there, probably working,
but there'll be some of them there, I'm sure. No, Yeah,
that's excited. Everyone knows it was Donington this weekend. Yeah,
what's a racing? Then on there is a lot of racing,
and I think this is the halfway point of the
Motor GIP season.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
I believe it is. Yes, I believe it is because
it's always around or two before the summer break, so.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
I think it's the one. I was looking at the
calendar earlier and I was like, oh, shit, we're halfway
like this season through the years, so we must be
And as always happened, Steve, the second half of the
season is going to fly by, and we're gonna come
to Valencia and we're gonna be like, well shit, can
you believe it's over already?
Speaker 2 (50:53):
I know you're putting the Christmas tree up and be like,
oh shit, we're did twenty twenty five?
Speaker 1 (50:58):
Yeah, exactly. It went in a blur of racing as
every other year.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
I still I always bring out end of the season
my Valency rear plugs, which is still here.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Oh yeah, nice, if that was show and tell there
you held them up for me.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
Nice, there they are, keep them my lobe.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
So do you remember what they were called in Spanish? Steve? Hell, okay,
in case you're wondering.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
Yeah, yeah, we communicated with pictures.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
I think I think what I said in Spanish translated
to I would like things for the ears. And she
looked at me a bit confused, and then I was like, well, fuck,
how are we going to go for now? And then
in the end she worked it out and then gave
them to us, looking all confused, and then I had
to ask them what they were called. But we got
there in the end.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Yeah, yeah, that was That was a fun time.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Yeah, but there we go. That is the end of
the show.
