Plans give comfort. Direction gives life. We opened Proverbs 16 and traced a hopeful thread through stories, Scripture, and real-life encounters: we devise our way, but God lovingly directs our steps. That isn’t a poetic shrug at disappointment—it’s a steady promise that redirects can become doorways to mercy, mission, and joy.

We share a raw testimony of ambitions rerouted by grace, then step into a gripping account of a young man bent on revenge who was stopped by a cardboard box of New Testaments and the piercing line from Romans 12:17: repay no one evil for evil. From there, we widen the frame. Elijah and Ahab, Peter and Cornelius, Philip and the Ethiopian—none of these meetings were accidents. Missionary sparks like Hudson Taylor’s began with a simple tract. We add street-level moments from a Sam’s parking lot to a late-night diner, where short conversations turned into eternal pivots, and one tragic obituary reminds us why urgency matters.

To ground the theme biblically, we walk through Balaam and Balak in Numbers 22. Flattery and reward meet the immovable boundary of God’s word: you cannot curse what God has blessed. Then a broken organ in 1818 becomes the unlikely birthplace of Silent Night, a reminder that failed plans can fuel timeless praise. As headlines swirl—conflicts, alliances, and fragile ceasefires—we center on God’s sovereignty. History’s strongest hands still open and close around his will.

This conversation is for anyone standing at a crossroads: the parent praying for a prodigal, the student chasing a dream, the worker weighing promotion against conviction, the believer whose calendar is full but heart is tired. Come be reminded that surrender isn’t passive—it’s active trust. Commit your works to the Lord, carry the gospel into ordinary places, and expect divine appointments. If your plans are changing, it may be because love just walked in. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs direction today, and tell us: where did God interrupt you for good?

A change of plans.
And we see here that uh thepreparations of the heart in man

(04:55):
and the answer of the tongue isfrom the Lord.
We know that it talks aboutverse two all the ways of a man
are clean in his own eyes, butthe Lord weigh the spirits.
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be
established.
Amen.
The Lord hath made all thingsfor himself, yea, even the

(05:17):
In verse 9, we read, A man'sheart deviseth his way, but the
Lord directeth his steps.
Aren't you glad God gets in thebusiness of changing plans?
Amen.
The man's heart deviseth hisway.
We all have plans in life, anduh and and uh for us that
weren't saved and didn't grow upin church, you know, we wanted

(05:40):
to do all these things, youknow.
I wanted to get into the musicindustry, doing a being a DJ and
things like that.
I went to college and didn'treally uh know what I wanted to
do.
I took radio TV film, you know, thought I could get in the radio
TV film business and all that, and then I got saved.
Amen.
A few years later down the road, you know, and praise God, God

(06:01):
changed my path.
You know, I got into the rockand roll crowd, and then I got
into the bodybuilding crowd, then I got into going to
college, and then one night, youknow, my accident, and uh here I
am tonight.
Got saved.
God changed his plan.
He's in the changing planbusiness.
Amen.
The man's heart devises his way,but the Lord directed his steps.

(06:23):
A change of plan in somebody'slife makes a difference.
You know, I had no idea I'dmarried someone from California.
And Darnell didn't know, probably have no idea she'd come
down to Louisiana.
Amen.
And you the person that you met,you had no idea that you were
going to meet them and marrythem.
Amen.
Praise God.
God changes plans in our lives.

(06:46):
I was reading uh and about a manhad read a book, uh magazine and
Gideon magazine.
He read a story about this mannamed Christopher Jones.
He was told his remarkably bluntand candid story.
He said that while he wasfinishing up in college, he sat
under a professor who hadpolitical views that were at

(07:07):
great variance with his own.
In fact, the two men developedan animosity toward each other,
and the professor gaveChristopher a fellow ingredient
even though the student knew thematerial and was very competent
in the course of study he waspursuing.
Christopher said that he wasabsolutely enraged, and that as

(07:28):
time went by his rage settleddown into a deep abiding anger.
For weeks I staked out hisoffice and car, following from a
distance to get an idea of hisschedule and route.
I even drew up several plans ona piece of paper.
The day finally came when hedecided to carry out his plan.

(07:49):
Brother Curtis's intention wasto ambush the professor and beat
him up, not to kill him, but tobloody up him bloody him up
some.
Christopher waited in the car ina park near the professor's
office, and as he waited for theprofessor to emerge, he noticed
a man walking through the parkwith a cardboard box under his

(08:11):
arm.
He came alongside the car andspoke through the window to
Christopher, offering him alittle copy of the New Testament
that he was passing out.
Here, read this, said the man.
Christopher had about twentyminutes before the professor was
due.
So he started to read inMatthew.
He skimmed through the genealogyin chapter one and went straight

(08:34):
to the reading about the birthof Jesus.
The story had gripped him and helost all track of time.
All he could do was continuereading through the story of our
Lord's birth, through thebaptism of Jesus, the temptation
of the Savior, through thelaunching of his ministry.
He kept reading in Matthew 5, 6and 7, the Sermon on the Mount.

(08:55):
Christopher sank back into aseat in total absorption.
And then he did somethingstrange.
He turned on into the littlebook at random and started
reading Romans chapter 12.
And suddenly he read the wordsin Romans chapter 12, verse 17.
Repay no one evil for evil.

(09:17):
Amen.
Romans the King James.
Let me see, I don't think thatwas King James, but we know the
gist of the verse and what thatmeans.
Romans 12 and verse 7.
Let me find that for you realquick.
I should have marked it in myBible.
I didn't pay attention to that.
Romans 12 and verse 7.

(09:51):
Recompense to no man evil forevil.
Amen.
Which means repay no one evilfor evil.
And that struck Christopher'sheart there.
He got saved, and he was like hewas waking up from a dream
coming to himself, coming to hissenses.
He was enraged, but then he wasable to suddenly see things

(10:11):
clearly for the first time.
And that day in the nick oftime, Christopher Jones found
Jesus as a Savior, all becauseof a man with a cardboard box
under his arm who handed him aNew Testament.
Amen.
When he was sitting in that carand said, Here, read this.
A change of plans.
Amen, Sister Sarah.

(10:32):
That man had it all in his mindthat he was going to beat that
man up, Brother Dave.
But thank God this man came by.
And that's what the gospel isall about.
We've got all these big plansand dreams in our lives, but
suddenly Jesus comes in on thescene.
Amen and changes everything.
Amen.
When Jesus walks in, that songof Joseph Haberdank, when Jesus

(10:55):
walks in, he walked in andchanges it all.
Amen, Sister Caleb, BrotherAdam.
Aren't you glad he walked in andchanged y'all's story?
Changed the way that you werelooking at things.
Changed the way you were lookingat life.
Amen.
He changes it all.
God, amen, came in, amen, andchanged it all.
The plans have been changed.

(11:16):
That's what Joseph and Mary.
Their lives were changed.
I mean, those things, you lookback at the Christmas story, and
they're about to be changed.
You know, the Joseph was goingto put her away for divorcement
because of this thing, but theangel came and talked to him and
told him, This is of God, thisis a holy thing.
Amen.
And hallelujah.

(11:37):
Their lives were changed fromthat moment on.
Amen.
I'm waiting for my folks to showup.
I feel like Brother Tracy wastalking about how brother uh uh
uh Don um Rich was alwayssaying, I'm waiting for my folks
to show up.

I'm waiting for my folks to showup.
Amen.
You're here, but I'm waiting forthe God the Father, the Son, and

(11:59):
the Holy Ghost to help me heretonight.
Amen.
Hallelujah.
And I'm by no means, I'm nobrother Don Rich, but praise
God.
I need God's help and praise theLord.
Frank Borum, he said, it was notby chance that Elijah and Ahab
met on the grassy slopes ofCarmel.
Amen.
Hallelujah.

(12:19):
It was not by chance that Herodand John met on the highways of
Galilee.
It was not by chance that Pilateand Jesus met in the judgment
hall at Jerusalem.
It was not by chance that Peterand Cornelius met, amen, praise
God in Syria at that time.

(12:40):
It was not by chance, amen, thatPhilip and the Ethiopian met on
the sandy road of Gaza.
It is not by chance, amen.

It was not by chance.
You ever heard the story ofStanley?
Amen and Livingstone.
Amen.
Hallelujah.
Stanley was the one that wentdown to Africa to find, amen,

(13:03):
Dr.
Livingstone.
Amen.
He went to find him and lookedfor him.
And he found him finally.
Amen.
They thought Dr.
Livingstone, Sister Teresa, wasdead.
They thought he was missing, butamen.
Stanley goes down and he says,Dr.
Livingstone, I presume.
Amen.
You've heard that before.
Amen.

(13:23):
He found him.
It was not by chance, but it wasGod.
Amen.
It was not by chance.
Amen.
Praise the Lord.
You can look down through thehistory of time.
You can see all thosemissionaries that went, Brother
Hudson Taylor.
Amen.
That started the China InlandMissions.
Amen.
You know what?
His parents were gone, and hewent to his dad's library,

(13:46):
Sister Emily, and he found atrack.
And that's what led Amen, HudsonTaylor, to go to the Chinese
people.
Amen.
It was not by chance, but it wasGod's plan.
He didn't have any plan.
Amen.
Praise the Lord.
Go to China, but God stepped in.
Amen.
You read on and on aboutdifferent missionaries.
Amen.

(14:06):
They went and gave their livesfor the gospel.
It is not by chance that theywent, but it was by the plans of
God.
Amen.
The Lord directing thy step, directing their steps, amen, to
reach out with the missions toreach out.
Amen.
Praise the Lord.
And it's not by chance if youmeet all these people in your
lives that you're trying to getthem to come to Christ.

(14:30):
Get them to be born again.
Amen.
Don't you wish everybody youtalked to got saved?
Amen.
Y'all know the story I talkedabout in Chop, that biker.
And I went back and looked.
I was on my Facebook feed oneday, Sister Barbara, and up pops
obituary from Griffin FuneralHome.
Amen, Sister Rebecca of Chop.

(14:53):
I went back and looked.
I got it on the uh where uh Ipost about my witnessing
encounter sometimes on theEveryday Club that we do with
Bazugan.
April of 2022.
And Chop was a biker, solitaris.
Elsa El Salitares.
You've seen those bikers withthe black uh jackets, and you

(15:13):
see the Christian bikers too, they have the black jackets.
But I witnessed him, I gave hima track, uh, Easter track that
time, and talked to him for aminute.
And then again, March of 2024,Waffle House.
Amen.
I gave him a rock and roll therock and roll trivia track that
we came up with for the kids'concert that time.

(15:35):
And uh and uh I invited him tochurch and talked to him and
then an obituary popped up acouple weeks ago.
My feet chop was dead.
Forty-three years old.
Amen.
It's not by chance that I talkedto him, and I don't I don't
know, but he probably didn'thave time to pray.
I found out he was stabbed todeath by his girlfriend.

(15:57):
I don't know, but he may nothave time to pray, but he wasn't
living right.
Amen.
Found out uh he died beingstabbed.
Amen.
But you never know who you'regonna you've only got certain
opportunities to reach out andwitness to somebody.
So you got to make the best ofevery opportunity to reach out

(16:20):
to somebody that's lost.
Amen.
It's not by chance you run intosomebody at the store, amen, in
Walmart, wherever, to give themthe gospel, to show them that
they gotta be born again.
Amen.
And you know, I wish uh I didhave one time I worked at Sam's

(16:42):
and um I would go out and putout tracks on the vehicles to
the Isle of Debris, I mean theIsle of Capri would come and
pick up people there.
And uh whether brother uh uh uhwe used to listen to uh follow
our preacher, brother DannyStevenson used to call it the
one day that Isle of Capri isgonna become the Isle of Debris.
And that's why I said that, butI don't know if that it's

(17:03):
probably not there anymore.
And they used to come and pickpeople up to go to the casino.
They pick people up in Monroeand take them down to Vicksburg
so they can gamble their moneyaway.
So I would go out there and Iwould put out chick tracks and
tracks on those vehicles when Iworked at Sam's, and that's in
the 1900s back in the 90s, and Iwould put tracks on their
vehicles and uh hoping, youknow, praying that they pray and

(17:25):
get saved.
And one of the security guardsthat worked there at Sam, her
name was Michelle.
And I pray she's still saved, but she was uh wondering what I
was doing.
I said, I'm going out here toput out tracks on the vehicles,
amen, because people uh you needJesus, and you know, and uh and
and so she follows me out thereto see what I'm doing.
And then a few minutes later, you know, I'm here leading her

(17:48):
to the Lord right there in theSam's parking lot.
Not by chance.
I pray she's still saved.
Amen.
I pray she's going on.
You never know.
I don't have no touch touch.
Oh, another Sam's, you thinkabout Sam's gonna work at Sam's
uh Todd Poole.
There was a manager there, anduh, they uh ended up and some of

(18:08):
the managers were let go, and hewas one of them.
And he came up to me later whenI saw him in public.
He said, Because of you andothers and witnessing to me, I
got saved.
Not pinning nothing on me.
Nothing.
It's all the glory to God.
My brother Shaw did not wantanybody, amen, to see him
getting the glory, but Godgetting the glory.
It's all the glory.
I'm just sharing this becausenot by chance, uh, amen.

(18:30):
You know, I've met these people.
There was a lady that workedthere named Tracy that was going
through things and I didn'tknow, and uh, and you know,
she's going through a divorce.
And the only thing I did I said,I'll be praying for you.
Another guy named Terrence.
I'll tell you about him in asecond.
Amen.
I'll tell you about everything.
We don't have that long, butI'll tell you about Tracy.

(18:52):
Tracy was a mess.
And I uh she worked there atSam's there, and I worked in it,
and I was witnessing people, people saw my testimony.
I got to share my testimony onChristian TV back then, Sister
Barbara, and people come on, andI knew I was working one time
and I knew it was coming on.
I told them I'm fixing to be onthat television.

(19:12):
But I was witnessing, I wassharing my testimony, and some
of them heard my testimony atSam's.
And they haven't had to sing onetime.
But Tracy was going throughdivorce, and we were talking and
stuff, and I told her to bepraying for her, and um, she
eventually uh uh I I uh I wentto this one little church um
over there in Monroe, and shecame a few times and she ended

(19:33):
up getting saved, and then shewas going to um the church of
God there behind Sam's and shegot baptized that night, and her
husband came, and the marriagegot put back together.
She got saved.
Not by chance.
I worked at Sam's back then.

(19:54):
Amen.
Not by chance, God is placingyou if you're obedient to the
gospel, if you're listening tohis voice, because that's what
he said here, there in Romanschapter 16.
Amen.
He said, not Romans, Proverbschapter 16.
We were in Romans, but he sayshere the preparation of the

(20:15):
heart and man and the answer ofthe tongue is from the Lord, and
then a man's heart deviseth hisway, but the Lord directeth his
steps.
Amen.
If you're obedient to the powerof God, to the Holy Ghost, if
you're obedient to the Spirit, you will win souls.
The Bible says he that winethsouls is wise.

(20:36):
It says that in the same chapterhere.
If you go down and read, amen, chapter uh 16, amen.
He goes on.
He says that uh he that winethsouls is wise, uh, amen.
Praise God.
No, that's Proverbs 11.
He that wineth souls is wise.
Uh Proverbs 11, Amen.
Hallelujah.

(20:58):
The fruit of the righteous is atree of life, and he that wineth
souls is wise.
Amen.
Praise God.
He that wineth souls, so Godwill direct your steps, God will
lead you to somebody.
Amen.
And I appreciate amen the Lordand his faithfulness to give us
but a change of plans.

(21:20):
Numbers chapter 22.
We know the story about Balaam.
And how that the children ofIsrael, verse 1, and the
children of Israel set forwardand pitched in the plains of
Moab on this side of Jordan byJericho, and Balak, the son of
Zippor, saw all that Israel haddone to the Amorites, and Moab

(21:43):
was sore afraid of the people.
And because there were many,Moab was distressed because of
the children of Israel.
And Moab said unto the elders ofMidian, Now shall this company
lick up all that are round aboutus as the ox licketh up the
grass of the field.
And Balak, thou Balak, son ofZippor, was king of the Moabites

(22:10):
at that time.
He sent messengers thereforeinto Balam, the son of Beor, to
Tithor, which is by the river ofthe land of the children of his
people, to call him, saying,Behold, there's a people come
out from Egypt.
Behold, they cover the face ofthe earth.
That's a lot of people.
They cover the face of theearth, and they abide over
against me.
Come now, therefore, I praythee, curse me this people, for

(22:34):
they are mighty for me.
Peradventure I shall prevail, that he may he we may smite
them, and that I may drive themout of the land.
For I wot that he whom thoubless is blessed, and he whom
thou curseth is cursed.
And the elders of Moab and theelders of Midian departed with
the rewards of divination intheir hand, and they came unto

(22:56):
Balaam, and spake unto him thewords of Balak.
And he said unto them, Lodgehere this night, and I will
bring you word again, as theLord shall speak unto me, and
the princes of Moab abode withBalaam.
And God came unto Balam andsaid, What men are these with
thee?
And Balaam said unto God, Balak, the son of Zippor, king of Moab,

(23:18):
has sent me unto sent unto me,saying, Behold, there's a people
come out of Egypt which covereththe face of the earth.
Come now, curse me them.
Perventure I shall be able toovercome them and drive them
out.
And God said unto Balaam, Thoushalt not go with them, and thou
shalt not curse the people, forthey are blessed.

(23:39):
God stepped in.
God stepped in to change theplan, didn't he?
He wanted Balak one of themcursed.
And Balaam rose up in themorning and said to the princes
of Balak, Get ye into your land, for the Lord refuseth to give me
leave to go with you.
And the princes of Moab rose up,and they went into Balak and
said, Balaam refuses to comewith us.

(24:02):
Hallelujah.
And Balak sent yet again princesmore and more honorable than
they.
And they came to Balaam and saidto him, Thou, thus saith Balak,
the son of Zippor, let nothing,I pray thee, hinder thee from
coming unto me.
For Mofi with great honor.
He was going to he was throwingin the stakes, he was giving him
more things.
Amen.
Great honor, and I will dowhatsoever thou say unto me.

(24:24):
Come, therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
And Balaam answered and saidunto the servants of Balak, if
Balak would cut, give me thishouse full of silver and gold, I
cannot go beyond the word of theLord for my God, the word of the
Lord, my God, to do less ormore.
Amen.

(24:45):
God stepped in and changed theplan.
Praise the Lord.
God changed the plan of Balakand Amen and hallelujah.
And he just stepped in.
Balaam, he figured out he cannotdo what God blessed.
He cannot curse Brother Adam, what God blessed.
Brother DJ, he cannot go againstthe word of God.
Amen.
You can't go against the word ofGod.

(25:05):
And tonight, your plans, you'replanning on doing something, but
God's gonna come in, amen, andchange your plans.
God's gonna come in, amen.
You feel like uh you've got uhamen all this to do, amen.
But God's gonna give yousomething better to do.
God's gonna turn you away, amen.
From that plan, God's gonna stopyou in the path that you're on

(25:29):
tonight, amen, and tell you, amen, not walk this way, but
walk this way.
Don't go this way, but go thatway.
Amen.
Aren't you glad God stepped in?
Amen and changed your planstonight.
Amen.
Hallelujah.
I didn't know I was gonna be inSterlington, amen.
Going to church here and livinghere in Sterlington, Amen.

(25:49):
I didn't know that amen yearsback, but thank God when you
follow the plan of God, when youknow you're in the will of God,
everything's gonna work out.
Amen.
How do you know that, BrotherScott?
Amen.
It's in the will of God, amen, for you to live godly, it's in
the will of God for you topursue after righteousness, it's
in the will of God for you topursue after holiness, amen.

(26:12):
Praise God to pursue everythingthat God has for you, for he
will direct thy path, he willshow you and give you what you
need.
And a change of plans changesletting go and grabbing hold.
Letting go and grabbing hold.
Amen.

(26:33):
Grabbing hold of God.
One man said that man proposesand God disposes.
Amen.
Man plans, but God walks in andchanges those plans, Sister
Barbara.
Hallelujah.
Aren't you glad that he is inthe plan changing business?
Hallelujah.

(26:54):
Amen.
I read about in Austria at onetime there was Christmas Eve in
Oberndorf, Austria.
In 1818, Joseph Moore, the vicarin the church, had written a new
song for the Christmas Eveservice.

(27:15):
And the organist Frank Gruber,Franz Gruber, I'm sorry, Franz
Gruber, had set it to music, butthe organ in the village broke
down.
So Gruber grabbed a guitar andaccompanied Moore in the first
reedition of Silent Night, 1818.

(27:37):
But the story doesn't end therewhen the man came and fixed the
organ.
Gruber tested it out by playinga new song.
The repairman liked the song somuch that he took a copy of it
back to his village.
And there, four daughters of thevillage glovemaker learned the
song and began singing inconcerts all over the region

(28:00):
because of that faulty organ.
God came in and changed theplan, didn't he?
And that's where we got silentnight.
Amen.
1818.
Started in Austria.
And now what we do, we sing itevery Christmas.
Hayden's gonna be singing ittonight because he started
listening to Christmas musicalready.
