(00:00):
So I have a question for you, an answer for you. So we're
in spooky season October Halloween. Pleasedon't do that. How do you feel
about Halloween candy? I well, whatever it is, I'll eat it as
long as it's not candy corn. You don't like candy corn? Oh,
candy corn is the worst. Don'teven try and defend here are you?

(00:21):
What is there to like about candycorn? It's good? I don't know,
like I get like I can justI don't know, I can just
like grab like a handful and thenjust like start picking up them like it
doesn't bother Like I like it.I would rather eat candle wax. That's
weird. It's disgusting. There's nothingredeeming of your absolutely correct. Wax is

(00:42):
disgusting. But candy corn's good. What's wrong with you? Oh it's all
been made in like nineteen forty five, like all of it, all of
it. I'm pretty sure that's notthe case. But okay, I'm it's
just awful, man. I Ittakes me back to a place I don't
want to go to. Okay,Then what is your favorite home in candy?
Then? What is your goal?Like? I like, if I'm

(01:03):
like you're the little Jason. You'relike you're a treat. What is the
candy that you want to get inyour back takes? That is a boring
answer. I was that boring. It's chocolate, it's candy, it's twix,
candy corn. I mean that's notmy preferred, but I like,
okay, what's your preferred? Oh? Easily, m hmm. That's like

(01:25):
third oh oh third, third third. It's like I usually have to be
in the mood for like Reese's pieces. If I'm gonna be honest with you,
listen, I just said, likeregular Reess like peanut butter cups.
If you're talking about Reese's pieces, then that is like even higher than reconsh
No, No, Reese's pieces absolutelyis much higher than that. Okay,

(01:48):
well, then what's Reese's pieces foryou too? Ess? I mean maybe
two wow twix over Reese's pieces.Yes, TwixT is amazing. It's like
I don't know you, oh stopit don't even don't don't go are just
twigs is amazing? It's all right, And then you got the bite size
it cat is also see I forget. See this is why we talk because

(02:09):
we constantly just keep reminding each otherlike the blind spots, and that's how
it works. I put three musget tears over twigs. Oh no,
that doesn't not even to my topfive. Absolutely, and stickers. I
love Snickers. Sinkers has everything. It's got peanuts, it's got caramel,
has got chocolate, It's got itall. And Halloween's coming up though,
I mean, this is the timewhere you're just gonna be indulging in all

(02:31):
of these wonderful, handy memories exactly. That's why I'm excited, because my
nephews are gonna get all that candy, but I get to sneak in and
just take it all from them.So it's great. Except candy corn.
No, I don't know if theyever get candy corn. Nobody think about
it. Yeah, they don't know. Buy a bag of candy corn?
Ruin their lives. Readings of Welcometo Our Show, Freshkie context it is

(03:12):
here we discussed insiple reviews on aretained BIB weekly basis. So for the
incredibly nerdy things we can't stop talkingabout. To take you on this dorky
ride or your host Josh Spoopy Scaryskeletons, Hello and myself Jay Soon why
don't you take a seat and soback relax. We're here to do all
the heavy lifting. It is aboutto get nerdy. This is episode ninety
seven, Part two. It's timefor camerack right. In our camarak segments,

(03:38):
we actually go back in time toreview old movies and sometimes shows,
which we've actually never done old reviewsof TV shows now that I think of
it yet, we haven't done ityet, but we will get to it
in the future, I'm sure. But before we get into our camerack review
for this episode, there's actually alot of news to talk about. Of

(04:00):
course, there's always there's always newslike you, oh stop it? Which
one shall we discuss first? JesSo let's see, there's so many things
to talk about the actually do.Yeah, there is actually a lot of
things to talk about. And we'reso organized today, which is fantastic.
It's weird. I feel like I'min order. I know, I know,
it's wonderful on these things. Thisis organized mess. I know you

(04:21):
don't like it. But what Iwhat I do want to talk about is
flash. And I'm not talking aboutthe DC character that runs really fast and
yeah it's not flash Flash. Thatflash is not dead. He's fine.
However, sure we yes, okay, I'm sure. I'm talking about Flash,

(04:44):
the computer software that allowed people towrite very interesting cartoons and web content
and terrible videos. List. Someof those videos are fantastic in their own
they are absolutely are. We'll getinto that. But that Flash, I
mean to say, he is dead. He's dead, he's gone, flashes

(05:08):
dead. I yeah, Flash isdead. So there's actually nothing really to
refer to about this. You maybe getting messages on your computers. I
know I certainly got one on minesaying that come December thirty, first of
twenty twenty, because twenty twenty, keeps on, keeps on. Flash is

(05:29):
no longer a thing, so youwill be prompted very quickly to press a
prompt to uninstalled from your computer becauseit's no longer supported. If there are
any websites that are offering support forFlash plugins, please understand that Adobe,
the company that does, or ratherused to make Flash, it is not
supporting that at all. So correctjust just stay away from it. Just

(05:55):
stay away from it. And ifyou are a developer, if you are
programmer that still supports Flash, it'stwenty twenty, yuys. It's time to
get with the program. Ye,so that's the first bit of news.
What are your thoughts on this?So flash has been around for as long
as I can remember. I remember, like literally the first thing that you

(06:17):
did when you reinstalled an operating systemon a computer back in the day or
two things. The first was youopened it and Explorer the download Firefox.
Yeah, and the second was youdownloaded Flash from Adobe's website. Yep.
Those are the two things that youdid immediately after you reinstalled the operating system

(06:39):
on anyone's computer. M I didthat without fail every time. Yep.
On my own computer as well, because I had to reformat that thing like
every other day. That's a differentstory. It was a Dell. Sorry,
but um, a Dell. Nota Dell, she says hello from
the other side. But I'm talkingabout the Dell computer, which is really

(07:02):
sick. This is really bad.Which is really bad. I mean,
you didn't need Flash to view allof those wonderful advertisements that soaked up all
of your energy, so many wonderfuladvertisements. But what it really helped do
is a lot of these flash basedwebsites which are possibly never even heard of

(07:23):
by today's generation. No, um, but we knew these websites growing up
because we would visit them as children, like every day pretty much. I'm
just gonna name some websites Newgrounds dotcom, Yeah, homestar runner dot com,
star Runner, Liquid Generation, AddictingGames, dot Comames. There was

(07:43):
also what is it Funnier Die?Even though they're around, but they were
like heavy flash flash based back inthe day. Yeah, even YouTube started
with flash based videos, Oh mygosh, please Yeah, which that's when
YouTube actually used to be cool becausethey are not on they are on my
hit list right now, my slist, right, that's a that's a

(08:05):
different story. But like, yeah, but even even YouTube, like you
needed flash player in order to watchanything on YouTube. Yeah, now they
are HTML five as it was, which most of the internet moving forward now
HTML five has just become much moreefficient and just become the most best standard
going forward. That this is thereason why flash is now dead. Well,

(08:28):
there are multiple reasons, one bigone in particular, but yeah,
I mean it was just a verybig resource hog, very big battery drain
hog, very big memory hog. Also not secure. Also, it is
not secure, so yeah, youcould very easily be targeted by by anything

(08:50):
through a flashes like security holes, which is another reason why it's going by
way. I mean, it wasconstantly getting updated all of the time.
There would literally become like every otherweek. And I guess the challenging part,
and I suppose this is one ofthe reasons why I won't miss it
is it got up to the pointwhere I wasn't even sure if the official

(09:11):
updates were real. That's how flavorit was. So they disguised themselves very
well. They disguised themselves very well, and you almost imperceptible to to understand
what it is that you were actuallydoing. So yes, it did soak
up a lot of energy, Itdid soak up a lot of resources.

(09:33):
It wasn't very very secure, andit wasn't very efficient either. I mean
to be completely honest with you.But you know, like I said,
there was a lot of great gemsthat used to be available for people to
interact with. Like I said, you know the aforementioned you know websites.
There was actually one game that Ienjoyed playing, but it was all flash
based. It was called Acno Energizer. I'm saying it now because I loved

(09:58):
this game. This game was wonderfullymade, designed very well it was fun,
it was challenging, the music wasfantastic. And now that I don't
have FLASHBA will not be able toplay it unless somebody decides to make it
or one of the current platforms likeAndroid or ils or anything like that.
Yeah, that would be really cool. That'd be nice if like somebody were

(10:20):
to go to these old flash games, and not every single one obviously,
because to be fair, there are, quite without exaggeration, I feel millions
of flash based games. Most ofthem are horrible, but there are like
some genuine gems in there, andit would be really really cool if somebody
were to go. Yeah, Iplayed that flash game a lot when I

(10:43):
was a kid. You know, flashes now no longer existing. I won't
be able to play this on theinternet, but maybe if I convert it
to a newer format, maybe it'llstill exist. Who knows. Because I
used to play a bunch of differentlevel flash games and stuff like that,
like and again they'd be like stupidrandom ones too, but it was just

(11:03):
something to pass the time away, right, And I also have a slight
relationship with Flash two because when Iwas in high school, I started doing
graphic design and we were learning Flashlike how to use the program and everything
growing up, I mean in class, excuse me, and I made I

(11:24):
was looking for it right now whileyou were talking. I still have them
on my R drive. I havetwo Flash movies that I made. One
was a test, so it's ait's literally Tetris. So I made Tetris
and Flash and the other one waspac Man, and my goal was actually
going to be I never got itto this point, but the goal was

(11:46):
going to be that I was goingto actually make pac Man playable. I
built the layout, I built everything, and I have the animations down,
but I never made it to aplayable state. But like just just looking
at it and just seeing it there, and I'm like I can't open any
more either because I don't have aFlash program from Adobe anymore. But just
like looking at the files, I'mlike, oh, that was a lot

(12:09):
of fun to work on. SoI do have some fond memories of Flash.
But at the same time, it'slike I understand why it's going away,
and I understand that it is nota good format. So I'm I'm
like, you know, I wouldn'tsay relieved, but I'm just like,
all right, cool, We're movingon from it. Yeah, I just

(12:30):
I mean, everyone has their ownmemory of a flash, especially if you
were around around the time when thesethings were prominent. You know, there's
a lot of people who will tellyou that flash was never really supposed to
be a thing, but you know, obviously it took hold and you know,
it kind of roasted this prominence. But there were a lot of downsides

(12:54):
to it. I mean, itwasn't popular absolutely, but the downsides were
really reconcilable. So what do youdo in that. You know, you
could either improve it, you know, or just completely re engineer it,
or it gets replaced. So,like I'm wondering now, now that flash
is gone like officially and it's notavailable on newer internet browsers, what happens

(13:22):
to these websites? How does theindustry or the environment change now now that
flashes isn't gone, Because I mean, I don't think there's like a team
of people creating these things. Ithink it's just one thing that somebody created
and they just kind of copy thatcode and just kind of put it onto
a nude hosted domain. So inthe absence of that flash engine that just

(13:48):
kind of did its own thing, what happens now I wonder, I really
do wonder about that. I mean, I would imagine the Internet being the
Internet is. While no, itwill no longer be supported by Adobe proper,
there will probably still be a communitybased on Flash that will try to
keep it alive. Because if I'velearned anything about the Internet, is that

(14:13):
anything old that was nostalgic to people, they will try to keep that thing
alive and open source for as longas they possibly can. Enter at your
own risk, is what I wouldsay. Is anybody listening to the show,
if Flash is something that you're intriguedby, or something that you just
simply won't let go of, Heylisten, it's your voice. You absolutely

(14:37):
can continue to engage in that, but you may want to consider letting it
go just because is it worth it? Is it all really worth it?
I really wonder some people really likeit. Yeah. So that's all we
have to say about Flash. Yeah, so we just wanted to give one

(14:58):
final send up to Flash. Yes, we do thank you Flash for all
all of the memories. You werenot fast, you were very very slow,
but you did provide some fantastic memoriesand we thank you for it.
Yes, for here now and we'lltake it from here. The next topic
is I'm gonna let you have thisone because this is interesting to me.

(15:22):
You know, you say you're gonnalet me have this one. You're the
one that introduced me to this andI did. I still don't understand it,
but we'll talk about it. Actually, I'm understanding it a little bit.
So essentially, GameStop announced that theyare in partnership with Microtivesoft. Yes,

(15:43):
that's Microsoft, who makes the Xboxesand the Windows machines. So essentially
it appears that they are going togo into a partnership where game Stop will
reportedly get a cut of Xbox gameseven if you're not buying them from game
Stop. So how does that makesense? I want to know? This

(16:07):
is from the Verge. Yes,uh. Game Stop and Microsoft entited into
a multi year agreement that gives thevideo game retailer a cut of every digital
purchase made on any Xbox console itdirectly sells going forward. So I buy
an Xbox from game Stop, rightright, right, Let's say I buy
the Xbox Series x S. Becausethat is a digital only console, I

(16:32):
cannot buy any discs for that game, but I bought that console from game
Stop and I'm game Stop. Right, You're like, oh no, what
are you gonna do? I mean, I canna tell you the physical games,
right, the physical games can't dothat. This is a digital only
console. Okay, thanks, buya game Stop see later. So I
go home, right, I plugit in a boot up x Xbox marketplace,

(16:53):
and I see Assassin screen. Bahallacool, I'm gonna download that game,
and I'm buying you from Microsoft, buying it from their marketplace. However,
because that console was originally sold bygame Stop, they are still getting
a cut of the revenue from thatAssassin's Creed Valhalla sale. Right, That's
what this deal is entailing, andit entails digital downloads of full games DLC,

(17:18):
in game micro transactions, and anysubscriptions meaning anything like Xbox Live Gold
and Xbox Game Pass Gota. Soliterally, they're getting a cut from pretty
much anything that you buy off ofthis console, as long as that console
was originally purchased by GameStop. Right. So interesting. It is very interesting

(17:41):
because I don't understand, or atleast I didn't understand why Microsoft would even
agree to this in the first place, because my thinking would have been,
like, hey, sell this consolefor me, and game Stop would have
been like, why would I sellthis digital only console for you. I'm
not going to make any money fromit. We're not sell that console.
In my mind, I would havebeen like, all right, cool,

(18:03):
well, I got that's by Target, Walmart, Amazon, They're all going
to do it, so see youlater game Stop, right, But apparently
they made a deal instead for whateverreason, right, which I mean,
honestly, you and I have youknow, history with game stop. I
think me a little bit more so. Game Stop is weird they it's going

(18:26):
into a game Stop is not necessarilymet with like high praise and like wonderful
you know, experiences and memories. It's stressful to be in there, and
it's stressful to be an employee,I'm sure, because you know, game
Stop employees are pushing things on youthat they may not even necessarily want to
push on you. And customers arevery much not interested in doing any of

(18:49):
that stuff. They don't want todo pre orders for fifteen games of things
that are not even coming out forthe next two years. They're not interesting
in ordering use games that other peopleplayed, even if it's like five dollars
less than what the original game costs, right, this is a lot of
stress that's involved there. So andyou know, I've been going to gamestoft

(19:11):
for years, You've been going gamestoft for years. It's gotten weird over
the years because I mean, let'sbeing honest. I mean they have a
business model that revolves around them sellinguse games. The markup is extremely high
values, very very very you knowlow. So you know what is the

(19:34):
long term effect here because I don'tknow if you realize. I mean it's
twenty twenty now and everybody's going digital. So my thoughts on this were like
game stuff should have been really aheadof this curve. They should have been
able to see the writing on thewall for the last decade now where games
were just going digital. I mean, if you look at you know,

(19:56):
cell phones, smartphones, digital application, I mean it's a wonderful business model.
You have an idea, you download, it stays to you. You
just do the updates right on theyou know, the console, on the
device that you're using. I mean, consoles are going to do the same
thing. Now. Personally, Iprefer having the physical games, but by

(20:18):
and large digital is where people aregoing. So who knows what's going to
happen to physical games in the future, but we're not there now. Game
stop still very much about again thephysical games and not really selling you new
games. They're not interested in doingthat. They just want to again,
they want to get that resale valueof the same games and people have been

(20:40):
selling to them. And again themark of being super high though. This
is fantastic for them, and Microsoftis starting to become a very interesting giant,
specifically in the Xbox role, becausethis is on the heels of then
buying Bethesda for seven point five billiondollars, which I still cannot write my

(21:03):
mind around. Yeah they did that. Yeah, so what are your thoughts?
I mean, like, like youwere mentioned, like, this is
a very weird partnership, a partnershipthat I honestly don't even think needs to
happen. Like again, I thinkMicrosoft could have just been like, cool,
you don't want to sell it,that's fine, everybody else is going
to so we're gonna be okay. And on top of that, in all,

(21:26):
honestly, when was the last timeyou went to a game stop to
buy anything? To buy something?Years? When the last time was in
a game stop probably the last year, just to see just like window shop,
right, right, exactly right, like I had. Like there is
a best Buy and a game Stopright next to each other where I go
to usually get my games all thetime, going to the best Buy first,

(21:51):
right, and if the best Buydoesn't have it for whatever reason,
like if it's a big game,it's a big launch, then I'll just
walk my buddy my butt over togame Stop and see if they have and
if they have it cool. Ifnot, guess what, I will wait
until best By hasn and go backto miss By. Yeah. So the
reason why I think Microsoft was interestedin doing this is because they're probably looking

(22:14):
at I mean, we've had thisdiscussion. We were talking about Xbox series,
X series S, PlayStation five Digitaland the physical additions and all of
that stuff. I mean, PlayStationfive, PlayStation four is a very successful
system. PlayStation three we already knowthis, not really so much, PlayStation
two, wildly successful, PlayStation one, very very successful system. So Tony

(22:38):
has been, you know, doingvery well in this area. Sam's one
generation so so in all honesty too, even though it wasn't a successful start,
in the end, the PS threeeven outsold the three sixty just saying
oh okay, I didn't even knowthat thank you for that context. This
is reason why we have fresh Geecontext who give this context. So the

(23:02):
LISTA say, Sony does very wellinto this arena. So the PlayStation five,
you and I have been listening to, you know, the news that
has been coming out. There's somemore information that we're going to be talking
about the PS five later on inthis episode. Stay tuned for that.
But I mean, you're looking atthe Xbox series X, You're looking at
the PlayStation and you're like, again, for the people that I've talked to,

(23:26):
they were more interested in the PlayStation. Are people interested in getting you
know, Xbox? Absolutely? Butto your point, which you said multiple
times before, if you were ifyou have a PC, what benefit is
there having a PC and an Xbox? There's really nothing there. So there's

(23:47):
this space where you kind of existwhere you're like, what is the reason
for having an Xbox? So Ithink they're playing the field here and by
doing that, they've kind of placedthemselves in a very strong position where they
now have a game studio that theyhave the ability of making things exclusive if

(24:08):
they truly want to, and theycan construct those games built for that hardware
for it to work, they havetwo very well made consoles, one is
again a high pirate one for somebodythat I really wants to go there,
and one very moderately priced digital consoleonly that just allows people just an entryway

(24:32):
into gaming. So if I doget a PS five and something comes out
and I'm interested in getting that system, I don't have to go for an
Xbox Series X. I can gofor the Series S and I can have
both systems. I think they're playingthat game and from that that's coming from
a position of power, and Igot to give them plause. That's great.

(24:52):
I think honestly, I would neverhave found myself today saying this,
but I think Microsoft as a winfor this generation, regardless of like actual
sales, They've ensured that they're goingto do well for the next three to
five years. Yeah, so I'mimpressed. I'm very impressed now. I

(25:15):
mean, in all honesty, everyonekeeps talking about the console wars, like,
oh, Sony versus Microsoft, thisis that, And in all honesty,
Sony's playing a different game. Microsoftis playing a different game. Microsoft
is playing the game like, Hey, doesn't matter where you game, you're
gaming with Xbox. So whether thatmeans you get the actual Box, Xbox

(25:40):
or just like you mentioned, you'replaying on PC because guess what, I'm
still playing Microsoft's games and I'm stillgiving them revenue, so they don't care
where I play. Right with myPC, I essentially have an Xbox right
now, right because I'm tied tothem all right, and they're gonna get
and I'm gonna get a from PSfive, So guess what, I'm going
to have Sony games. Guess what, I'm in both of their pockets,

(26:03):
right, So it's like they bothwin, they both twice, and we
suck. We suck again. Imean, I don't know if we suck
because I'm having fun. Yeah,I don't mean that, you know,
as a detriment to you, toyou or anybody, but it's it's it's

(26:25):
the essentially they're like they we've beencornered exactly like I literally I have the
best of both worlds though, Soit's fine, right because now I don't
have to be like, oh man, I wish I had an Xbox to
play the new Halo game right, news flash, it's gonna come out for
PC. Cool. I'm gonna beplaying that game because I have my PC
and for the first time, firsttime because it's happened every single year since

(26:51):
the Xbox came out. I wasjust like, all right, Xbox is
out in the PlayStation, I havemore games. It's happened every single generation.
Well, PlayStation has this game andXbox doesn't. And but oh but
Xbox has this game. And I'mlike, yeah, I never want to
play that though, but you canplay with your friends. I was like,
yeah, I don't want to dothat either, Like, do you

(27:12):
have anything else, because like Isaid, I could, I could,
I could potentially do it. Icould, And it's happened for you know,
the first Xbox, It's happened forthree sixty for Xbox one, and
every single time was like Xbox one, you can plug it in, you
know, you can plug it intoyour your your cable system. And I'm
like no, I'm it's not aselling point for me. It's like I

(27:33):
really don't do that. I reallydon't want to. I have no desire
to do that. Like though theamount of television that I watch is virtually
zero. Yeah, so not aselling point. I'm not trying to be
funny. I'm not trying to likestick it to you or make you,
you know, embarrass anybody. It'struly not a selling point. However,
what they have going on now isactually very appealing. For the first time,

(27:56):
I actually might get an Xbox pendinga game that's on Xbox that isnavailable
on PlayStation. If that does happen, then I would say not even the
game wouldn't even be a console buy. It would just be I'm just getting
this console in this game so Ican just play that game because I have

(28:18):
You know this, I'm very vocalabout this. I'm not interested in buying
a PC, so buying a consolewould be right up my alley. Not
interested in buying a Series X becauseI'm not vested in that at all.
So Series S is where we go. I love this, man, I

(28:40):
think I give. I have toapplau like, applaud both of them around
an applaus for both both companies andlike and Nintendo's already got me. They've
had me since five. Man,that's sent for me. I've a've I
always pride on myself. Well Ishouldn't say pride anymore, because like,
what does that even mean? Butlike, I've always been a Sony person,

(29:00):
but I've also been an Intendo personbecause I've gotten every single one of
their handholds. Right, I've gotI've had a game Boy, the Color
Can Advance DS three DS like I'min my heart, I've always been an
Intendo person, just not for theconsoles, but for the handhelds. Right,
But I've always been I've always hadconsole, Sony handheld Nintendo this time

(29:22):
around switch again. I always saidI consider that a handheld. So that's
why I have a switch as well. Yeah, I love me Nintendo.
So I mean I so every singleplayer in the video game community, they
all take a bowl, please,I mean Sony, I'm I'm excited for

(29:44):
the PS five. You know,Xbox you bought a whole game studio,
an entertainment studio for seven point fivebillion dollars. I don't even know what
to say to that. And nowyou have a partnership with you know,
a gang store that had has beencould be completely honest with you failing.
I don't know if you know Microsoftnow has to say and how game Stop

(30:06):
is run. But I'm imagining thatI won't be as pressured in a game
Stop store because if I buy aconsole that's like I can now walk into
like for I just imagine this,I could now walk into a game stop
and say I'm interested in buying anXbox Series S. I want to buy

(30:29):
it new, and I wouldn't getany pushback. Right, that has never
happened. This has never happened recently. Anyway. I can do that and
say I'm not interested in buying anyof the games, and they would just
wave. After I paid my price, I plug it in, I buy
the game digitally, because that's whatthe S series S does. I'd be

(30:49):
okay, you'd be okay, fantastic. I love it. I I'm ready
for twenty twenty one. Let's dothis. Let's go. But um,
but Jays, there is one gamethat I feel like that we're both waiting
on. Oh yeah, let's talkabout it. Yeah, there's a game

(31:10):
that we're both waiting on because youhave been playing all the games that you've
missed in this franchise. Yeah, well yeah, we should probably talk about
that. Not fully, but Ifeel like that's like another episode that we
can kind of revisit. Please trustme, once you're once you're done with
the with the whole series, we'regoing to revisit it. Trust me.

(31:30):
Um. We are talking about thegaming franchise known as Kingdom Hearts. Yep,
we've talked about it on this episodeof a Few Tuns. Actually,
one of our very first early likeback in the Day episodes was about Kingdom
Hearts. I'm actually, you knowwhat, I really want to re listen
to that before we do another KingdomHearts episode because I just want to hear
like your reactions and how they changeand how I reacted to that. Yeah,

(31:55):
but essentially you've been going back. You've been playing Birth by Sleep.
I had you play zero doctors playedall of them. I played all of
them. You're currently playing dream DropDistance though, right, Yeah, yeah,
yeah, and you're not liking KingdomHearts Pokemon edition. It's odd.

(32:15):
It's odd, so it's different. The So the episode that we were referring
to is actually episode twelve. Youcan actually go onto spreaker dot com search
our Freshkie context. Episode twelve isour Kingdom Hearts episode. Yes, we've
mentioned Kingdom Harts multiple times throughout thisbecause we are clearly Disney fans and nuts,
but we're not ashamed in our game. The game is good. I'm

(32:38):
in the grid now and I'm notquite done yet, but it is.
It's Pokemon for Kingdom Harts is reallywhat it is. It's I'm not a
big fan of Kingdom of Pokemon.I don't want to pet. I don't
want to pet my nightmare to makeit level up. It's just weird.

(33:00):
But he's a dream eater, thankyou. His name is me. Well
stop it. We say all thisto say there is yet another Kingdom Hearts
game that's coming out. Yes,take it away, Josh. So,
yeah, there is a new KingdomHearts game on the way. It is
called Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory andthe We don't know much about the story

(33:23):
of it quite yet. However,we do know it does take place after
Kingdom Arts three. And this gameis not like any of the other Kingdom
Hearts games because it is a rhythmgame. So you are from what So

(33:44):
the demo just came out for it, and Jason, I have to try
it out and we played a littlebit of it. It's yeah, I
want to make sure I'm perfectly clearabout where I stood with this. Yeah,
okay. When you showed me theI think of six screenshots of it

(34:05):
and I was like, no,I have no desire to play this game.
There's lots of Kingdom Hearts games thatcame out that I don't think you
played. I tried it, andI was going to play it was the
one that came out for mobile.Oh yes, yeah Cross. Yeah.
I tried that for like a hotsecond before I said I'm gonna put this
down and never touch it again.Yeah, as a as a Kingdom Hearts

(34:29):
fan, someone who platinumed all ofthem on the console except for Training Memories
is the only one that I haven'tplatinumed. Yeah. I also did not
play Union Cross that much. Soyou're you're you're fine there. Yeah,
I tried. Let's just put itthis way. I downloaded it. It
didn't take me sixteen hours like Idid the first time I tried to play
it, so it's good. Um. But then I started playing and I

(34:52):
was just realizing how time consuming thisactually was going to be, so I
promptly deleted it. No if Ito Square Nix or anybody that put their
time and effort, I just didn'twant to do it. So what I
did was I went on to Googleand YouTube and I tried to see if
I can find a summary of whathappened in that game, and I still

(35:15):
couldn't do it. I just Idon't know if I cared that much,
So yeah, I passed on that. So yeah, I saw this,
this this Rhythm Game, and Iit was a hard, definitive no for
me. It was just a no. And you told me today you've downloaded

(35:39):
and play it before we recorded. And unfortunately I like the game. It's
strange, isn't it. It is. It's like, so the reason I
like it is because I love themusic from these games. I do too,
And that's the problem exactly, thatis the problem, because it's like,

(36:01):
oh, I kind of I wantto listen to these songs like I
went to I think I might havetalked about this on one of the episodes
last year, but I went tothe concert when we could go to concerts
that Disney had had on in oneof their shows, and they did you
know the music from all the gamesfor kind of Arts three, and they

(36:22):
did you know all the other theold ones as well, And I loved
it because I just loved the musicfrom this series. Right, And so
at first you hear Rhythm Game, like, oh, you don't want to
deal with that, but then you'relike, oh wait, but then they
have all the songs from the games, all right, Well, I got
to listen to that. That's cool, and then you have to kind of
match the button prompts with the music, and then you kind of get into

(36:45):
it. And it's like I shouldn'tlike this, but I do, and
I don't know. Like before Iwas just like, I guess I'll get
this game because it's kind of arts. Now I'm like, all right,
I know I want to play thisgame. I want to play it completely,
because I don't know if you gotfar enough where like if you played

(37:05):
a track or two, eventually thedemos like cool, thanks for playing,
and then they tell you you exitor go back to the main menu.
I immediately went back to the mainmenu, went to another song and started
playing that one, and then I'mexcited to like play the rest of it
when it comes out. Yeah theyI mean, how many games has come
out in this franchise, and Ifeel like every single time they somehow and

(37:30):
it's like you have to give themcredit. You have to give them credit
because what they what they do isreally smart because on its own, I
don't think Kingdom Hearts could have workedif it was just Disney characters. And
that's saying a lot. I getit right, but the selling point.
I'm telling you, I remember exactlywhere it was when Ingom Hearts came out.

(37:51):
The game was already out. Ihad heard about it, and I
was just like, yeah, coola game with Disney characters, And like,
I played lots of Disney game itbefore I played ut Tail, I
played a Little Mermaid for like Annys, and like all these games, I'm
aware of what Disney does to meinternally, like I know they like they
hijacked my hippocampus, and it takesme to a place that I'm like,

(38:14):
all right, I'm just going onthe sleigh ride forever. So here I
am. You know, Kingdom Hartsis out and I was just like,
all right, cool, maybe i'llcheck it out later. And then I
remember I could probably put it inthe show notes. There was a scene
where the silver haired man turned aroundand he had green eyes. I was

(38:34):
like, that's Seffrof. I knowexactly who that is. What game is
this? And they said Kingdom Hartsand I said, oh no, I
need this game now. I can'twait on this game. I need it
now. And that was the loveaffair I had with this freaking game.
So whenever Like Cloud appears, inthe game. I'm like, yes,
I need more of it, andlike they keep telling me, like,

(38:55):
oh yeah, there's other Final Vias, like I recognized on Destiny Island and
you know um Waka and her nameforget her name, um but the characters
that were in Final Fantasy ten areon Destiny Island and I'm like, yes,
I've recognized them. I don't careabout these guys. I just care

(39:15):
about Cloud and Haris and Tifa. And I was mad that Tifa wasn't in
the first game, but she wasin the second game. UFI wasn't the
first one. Absolutely, so againI'm they had me, They absolutely had
me. But it's just like, how do you continue this franchise without milking

(39:36):
these characters? You know they're usingthem because I'm an adult, I know
this. You're using these characters asbait to get people to come in and
play your game. So they haven'tstopped doing that because I'm playing what dream
Drop Distance now and there are noFinal Fantasy characters from well, there are

(39:59):
some mo but there's another game thatyou have told me about after I played
kind Marks three, because I cantell you I had no idea what was
happening inside that game, but I'mnow experiencing characters in the game that you
shared with me. Yeah, theworld ends with you, right. I
have no idea what's going on inthere, but they they have my attention.

(40:22):
So it's a it's a smart playon how to create games. You
involve other developers inside your studio andit brings awareness to games. I think
you're planning on getting that game, aren't you? Which one? The world
ends with you? Oh see, that's what I'm talking about. Would you

(40:43):
have gotten that game if you didn'tplay kidom Marts? Honestly, no,
Seve what I'm saying, that's howThat's how it works. That's how it
works. Yeah, I think becauseI remember specifically when I played Dream Drop
Distance that I was like, whoare these people? I don't know who
they are? And then I researchedit and I'm like, Okay, they're
from this other game. And then, in all honesty, I still didn't

(41:05):
have interest getting the game. Butthen when Kingdom Arts three came out and
then the whole ending with that, and now the theory of Sora is in
that world, I immediately want togo by buy it for the Switch.
Because it originally came on the DS. I'm actually thinking about buying the original
DS version even though I have theSwitch version, because they say it runs

(41:28):
so much better on the switch.I mean on the DS right, because
it is a lot of touch controlbased. But I'm still having fun with
it on switch. I just haven'tfinished it yet. Yeah, they built
this game with you in mind.Yeah, I mean I have to give
them credit, and like, I'mplaying this rhythm game now and it's just

(41:49):
like, what more could you do? Because I feel like theory was very
definitive, but apparently I think theycan keep this going for like the next
thirty years, honestly. So Yeah, but this game specifically though, UM,
I will say, even though Ido like the demo that came out,
um, and anybody can download it'sit's a free demo. Um.

(42:10):
The controls are a little weird. It is like I'm like, I played,
I think I think I did allthe songs or I might have missed
one, but in my head,I'm trying to figure out the best way
to control it. So what Ithink I've set my mind on. I'm
making the two triggers, Donald andGoofy. Yeah, and I'm making the

(42:31):
X button, Sora. Yeah,I'm doing the same thing, yes,
and that way I can kind ofdifferentiate everything. Yeah, it's very strange.
Jump. It is strange, butlike a you get it, and
when you're listening to the music, you just instinctively know, like what buttons
you're going to press because if you'reif you're playing a mute, which I
actually did do because I want tosee how frustrating was going to be before

(42:54):
they captured me at the very jump. It is frustrating. It's super frustrating.
Try the song you kind of getinto it exactly. And so when
I tried it without play this first, I mean, I think either way
it's gonna be a win, tobe honest with you, but yeah,

(43:14):
it's it's always an exciting time forgames. Let's just put it that way.
It's always exciting time for games.Uh, yeah, I would.
I'm excited. We're probably gonna getit, right. I know they already
have me this far, so Imean, what more can you do to
me? And do you know wherewe can play it? I'm imagining,

(43:34):
Josh that we can play it onthe PS five. We can we can
play because way backwards compatible this isthe sea You're welcome. That's what I'm
here for. Yeah. So,speaking of the PlayStation five, we can
play this game on there, butnow we know how we can play the
game on there. Yes, becauseSony finally revealed the usual your interface of

(44:00):
the PlayStation five and it looks reallygood. It was like I was happy
with the way the interface is onthe PS four. I think I'm gonna
be happier with the PS five nowbecause a it looks way more streamlined.
It's not like a drastic change either, which I like, but it's just

(44:20):
very more simplified and I think easierto navigate. And on top of that,
they're adding features that are like absolutelylike that is perfect. Yes,
I'm just so one thing to note, and because I don't really know if
you can really talk about like thiswhole segment concerning like the user interface,
because it's based on a video thatyou know, we will be able to

(44:45):
share with you when this is posted. Yes, but I gotta be honest
with you. It is going tobe so nice and I don't have to
pick up my phone to google onYouTube what to do. It's all going
to be there. So yeah,so one of the people have to spoil
it, right, That's that's whatI really liked too, Like I was

(45:06):
like, oh, that's a nicetouch. So one of the things that
they showed was that, let's sayyou're playing a game and I've literally been
doing this like for the past fewmonths because I've been trying to platinum all
these freaking games. So I literallyhave my iPad next to me with a
YouTube video of a guide showing mehow to get collectibles. But essentially,
instead of doing that, I couldjust have it directly on my PS five,

(45:30):
Like I can have a small littlevideo of the collectibles guide going right,
and a it won't go too farahead until I get to that point.
I would imagine if they're hiding spoilersfrom me. But at the same
time, it's like I don't needto look at another device, and while
the video's playing, I can bemoving in the same exact area, so

(45:51):
I can be moving along with thevideo, right, Like that is insane
to me, and that is soso awesome. So yeah, that's what
I'm like, Yes, this isthis is because, like I'll be honest
with you, I've had PlayStation one, I've had PlayStation two, three,
four. I'm obviously gonna be gettingfive. Do you know how many times
I've ever used the web browser onany of those consoles? I actually used

(46:15):
the web browser on PS three.I mean I've used it, but like
why I used it because I wastoo lazy to go into my actual computer.
Yeah, but how many times haveyou used it? At the very
start of the PS three A lostreally at the very start of it.
Yeah, and my favorite right nowand my PS paid. It's not very

(46:42):
intuitive. I bought a bluetooth keyboardfrom MPs three. You are, I
cannot help you. I had alittle track pad two so I can move
the house. Unreal, unreal?Okay, those people, you're that guy,
you're that guy. Do you rememberdo you remember with that whole side
note? Do you remember that wholefiasco when Sony removed the other OS install

(47:05):
option? Yes, yeah, Iwas one of those people that were a
little bit upset because I was Iwas going to put Linux on it.
Unreal. So uh, anyway,I'm glad that the operating system and the
web browsing feature is going to bemore streamlined because for everyone else that's not
Josh, It's not very intuitive.Um, unless you know, you go

(47:30):
out there to GameStop and buy yourselvessome keyboards. It was a Logic Tech
keyboards. I still have it.I'm sure GameStop sell I'm sure game Stop
sells it. Probably I still haveit. It's closet, yeah, you
know. Um. But the otherthe other thing that I like is they're
really taking advantage of like this pictureand picture thing. Um. So,
something that we've been doing lately. We kind of started this when you started

(47:52):
playing Last of Us and then we'vekind of continued it with you planking them
parts now is every once in awhile, you'll be playing a game and
you're just like I don't know howto get past this, or I don't
know what I'm doing whatever. They'llyou're going through, and we'll do share
play and like I'll be able tosit there and view what you're doing,

(48:13):
right, but I literally can't doanything except watch your gameplay. Right.
But now with the new PS fiveUI, you can be playing something.
I can have you all the wayat the bottom corner playing whatever game I'm
playing. And then if you're like, hey, I need help with this,
pause my game, go make thatvideo full screen. See what you're

(48:36):
doing. I can be like, hey, do this this and that or
can take over for you either oneand then minimize it and then go back
to playing my game while you're stillplaying yours. You know, all this
technology is fantastic. You know,it's really frustrating and all of us,
my internet speeds are still going toremain the same, but we know it
works. I mean, it yellsat you that it's not efficient, but

(48:59):
it'll work. I mean, butlike you'd figure with all of this fantastic
technology, it was like, hey, do you think you might widen the
cable bandwidth so just a I couldjust you know, not suffer. That'd
be great. That'd be fantastic, would you know? But the chase,
Yes, do you know what kindof games will be playing on your PlayStation

(49:21):
five? Besides Kingdom Hearts, whichyou will be playing Spider Man, Miles
Morales, my good son, Iwill be sway. Yes, yes,
And there's actually a new uh therewas a new steak Pield and then a
new sneak Peek. If you willof a a an animal that will be

(49:45):
joining you on your spider adventures. You got a spider cat in your backpack,
Chase. His name is spider Cat, and I am all for this.
I'm all for this. I thoughtthey were joking. I thought I
honestly thought it was right. Ithought because Game Informer. I think it's

(50:07):
interesting. By the way, completeside note, it's interesting that Microsoft announced
his partnership with game Stop and GameInformer is now back. Like, I
haven't seen Game Informer on Twitter inyears, but I've never seen them on
my Twitter feed. I've never seenthem on my Twitter feed. I'm sure

(50:29):
they've never left. I'm sure they'restill making magazines. But I think it's
very interesting what they're doing right now. Yeah, absolutely so. But yeah,
they broke the news on Spidercat. They did. They absolutely did,
and it's fantastic. It's literally,I mean it's literally a orange tabby cat
with a Spider Man mask. It'sso good. I love it. And

(50:52):
he's very helpful. We'll just putit out very He will attack enemies for
you. He will attack enemies asyou attack them. So, I mean,
I think this is going to bea game that we're going to be
discussing for a long time. Clearly, you and I are going to be
getting the remaster vision. I mean, I'm an insane fan of this game.
Is one of the only games I'veever platinum, probably the only game

(51:13):
I will platinum. Maybe this gameI will also, I'm not sure,
but it depends on how much Ilove the game. Like, if I
love the game, I will goforward and complete everything. Yeah, but
what I really like, I don'tknow. If you've seen this, Josh,
they have this clip where Miles Moralistszips out by Webb through a pipe

(51:36):
from inside of a warehouse to outsideand there's no loading times at all.
It is freaking sweet, it is. And PC gamers we get it.
You've been through this because you've hadSSDs for years. Blah blah blah.
It doesn't matter. This is thefuture. Hey, ask me if I

(51:59):
care. There, don't you don'tcare? Okay, well I don't.
I don't. I kind of becausewe were putting on a show. Um,
it's great, it's absolutely great.I'm interested in seeing how that loading
sequence is going to work on PSfour. I mean, it'll probably just

(52:21):
it'll probably work. It'll just beslower, I would imagine that, or
it'll be framey. I don't know. Who knows. M Here's the thing.
I'm not going to get the PSfour versions, so I won't know.
Yeah, I'm sure. I'm surethere will be video comparisons. I'm
absolutely sure there will be. Orif there's a user that's listening that has
a PS four and they're not interestedin getting a PAS five at this moment,

(52:43):
but they still want to get thegame, let us know, Yeah,
let us we'd love to Yeah,we'd love to know. Yeah,
we just we just wanted to mentionSpider Cat because it is so freaking goal.
I mean, everything about it looksamazing. I mean they keep talking
about ray tracing, and as theykeep talking about it, I'm like,
yeah, I see it. Now, this is like great. I mean
you can actually see the reflection ofyourself as you walk up to like transparent

(53:09):
doors. But it looks real. And every single time, like Mario sixty
four came out, it looks soreal. No, dude, it looks
real. Now, it looks reallyreal. Now, So who knows.
We're not going to talk about PSsix. We're not even there yet.
We need to get PS five beforewe start asking for changes. But I

(53:30):
like where the future is going rightnow. Let's just put it that way.
The future is going with Spider Cat. First we had Spider Cup.
Now we have Spider Cat. Whatwill be next? Who knows. I
wonder if they're going to change thebasis again. But but moving along with

(53:53):
Marvel news, there's actually some veryinteresting Marvel news. They've been dropping down
a lot of information, right they'vebeen doing this, yes, and they've
been talking about one Division. OneDivision now looks like it may not be
coming out in November as it waspreviously quote unquote leaked, and it should
be coming out in December. Mandalorianis a couple of weeks away right now,

(54:16):
with brand new GroupWatch feature. Joshand I may be catching up on
old episodes because you still haven't watchedseason one. Who knows, we'll figure
it out. Yeah, No,we're gonna have to watch it. I
just want to let you know thatright now. I watch it eventually,

(54:36):
so we're gonna be watching it together. So you're gonna have to carve out
sometimes. But with all of theMarvel you know news, we've been talking
about how this is the first yearsince like a decade that we haven't had
any kind of Marvel content that cameout for movies. Anyway, we were
almost certain that we were going tobe getting some more information about she Hulk.

(55:02):
We thought that we had found shehulped casting news accurate information regarding Tatiana
Muslani from the hit TV show orfrom Black We had talked about that on
the previous episode. But what Marvelgiveth Marvel taketh away or Marvel never had
Yeah, Marvel, that's accurate.Marvel never actually announced news. And maybe

(55:27):
this is the problem some trade, you know, deals are reported through these
inventional lines like Deadline and Hollywood Reporter. They had reported that Tatiana was casted
as she Hulk, and she justwent out in public stating that that is
not true. And he really doesn'tknow what to say about that. So

(55:52):
it's odd. It's really odd.It's very odd, and I don't know
if it's just that maybe they wentback into negotiations and she's like, oh,
yeah, no, that was nevera thing, because I don't know,
something else could have happened or whatever. Who knows. But she never
said that she was taking the roleright exactly. They never announced it.

(56:14):
She, you know, her publicist, everyone else and Adi never announced it.
So it's not like, I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if,
again, if they were in talksor something, but who knows. We
won't. We won't know that probably, but now I was kind of saddened
when I heard that because I waslike, oh, she would have been
amazing at it, and I reallywould like to have seen her. But

(56:35):
think about it, anybody that theypick, they're gonna be good at it,
all right, because they're picking likethe best talent. So Alison Bree
was actually on a late night talkshow I believe it was with James Cordon,
and James Cordon very much like JimmyKimmel, is as excited about you
know, new Marvel content, newDC content, as much as any of

(56:57):
us are. So he was veryended about some of the questions that they
were asking and asked Alison Brie, what did you think about, you know,
the casting? You know about this? I mean, he didn't really
say anything. He didn't say yesit's true or no it's not true.
He just kind of took her fingerto her lips and said it's interesting,
huh. And that was it.And that is something that other cast members

(57:23):
have typically have done, where theywon't say yes or they won't deny,
but they'll say it's interesting. Soa lot of people thought that she was
casted, but we don't know, you know, So the Alison Brie could
be Walters, a crippy Tatiana, could be somebody else. We don't know.
We don't know. We just don'tknow. So I do think it's

(57:45):
interesting that Mark Ruffalo did congratulate her, and now we were getting this news,
so everyone thought that Mark Ruffalo wasthe final say so, and I'm
like, no, you don't havethe final say so at all. He
does not. It is not definitely, but yeah, that so, Yeah,
I'm a little bit bummed by it. But I mean again, just

(58:05):
like you said, anybody who theypick is going to be good more than
likely. Um. I just reallywould have liked her or thinking of her
as you know, miss Walters, like it would be cool. Um,
But then I don't know if itis Alison Bree, who knows. I
mean, she she do an amazingjob too. So well, I think,
like I said, I think anybodythat they pick is is gonna be

(58:28):
great. I'm just waiting for anofficial announcement because it's been so long since
we got one, you know, official from like Marvel Studios. It is,
it has been a while since we'vegotten like an official announcement of something.
But yes, do you know whatwe did get? An official announcement
of your transitions are wonderful? Itry what what other news do we got?

(58:54):
So? Who do you know thatis Zany to the max? Oh?
I know they answered to this one. The animaniax, their animani totally
insane thinking and the brainy animaniacs. Those facts, those are the facts.

(59:15):
They're back. They are officially backback back and Warner sister dott don't call
her dotti? Was that was thatcall? He? It was? Don't
call her dotty? Right? Ithink so? Yeah, I think so.
I need to go back and rewatch. However, just recently on they

(59:38):
seriously where I'm really looking forward toseeing what is going to be coming for
this new series. It hasn't changed. They haven't changed the art style.
They actually it looks pretty much thesame, just updated for HD exactly.
It doesn't look like it's on aVHS tape anymore, okay, or I

(59:59):
mean, let's do it at leastthat's fine. You know what's interesting is
that, I mean I watched alot of animated action as a kid,
and at the time I was watchingit, I was just looking at it
was just like these jokes are asa kid, you realize, like these
there's something off there. Yeah, there's something very well done about the show.

(01:00:21):
Geniuses are clearly creating and crafting thatshow, and they were able to
kind of navigate through lots of differentthings. They were able to navigate you
know, through you know, highbrow humor, low brow humor, slapstick
humor, uh, politics, musicalreferences, differing dude, they did They

(01:00:44):
really did everything, and it wasvery tongue and sheep and you know,
from the year twenty sixteen and on, it's like just watch where you step
because you might just kick off thewrong person and get canceled. So I'm
interested in number one in finding outhow is the show Animaniacs, not the

(01:01:05):
remake but I guess the re releaseof the Animaniacs. How is it going
to tackle comedy? How is itgoing to tackle like, yes, the
weird s storm that we've constantly findourselves in with everything, like nobody wants
to say anything because you say somethingand it's just automatically you're on edge,

(01:01:30):
right, How does a show likethat deal with that? How does it
make light of that? How isit going to educate? Because Animanas honestly
say what you will. It diddo a lot of educating. I know
all of my countries. I knowthe States anset capitals because of their songs
and the presidents and the presidents. Those are great songs, great songs,

(01:01:50):
and still they still hold up tothis day whatever. I will listen to
them every once in a while,Like I think a few weeks ago,
I put on the World the Nationsof the World. Mh. You turn
on the news and you're looking atyou know, entertainment. These days,
it's it feels like things are dissolving. And this is just my personal opinion.

(01:02:12):
But to truly have geniuses and theguy that created it before, Steven
Spielberg bringing it back now, I'mit's so exciting. I just have concerns.
It's like, because I know whatkids are interested in. You know,
today we were talking about I don'teven know if we were talking about
this on the show or offline, but you know, Thundercasts. ThunderCats is

(01:02:32):
one of my favorite shows as akid about the new Thundercasts and the new
Thundercasts is just weird. It's justweird. It's just Stephen Universe reskinned.
It's a little bit weirder than that. But yes, you're right, and
like Stephen Universe, the show iswhat it is, right, Um,

(01:02:53):
I like it. I don't knowif I love it. It's just not
you know, like it is whatit is. You know, I don't
really have a longing for it.I don't necessarily wish for it to go
away forever. It's just it certainlyappeals to a group of people. I'll
give it that. I'll absolutely giveit that, but not everything has to

(01:03:15):
get that treatment. And ThunderCats isin its first season now, they've completely
taken that lore and they've completely flippedit on its head. And yeah,
I know what they're doing. Iknow that they're appealing for a different type
of audience. I don't I mean, it doesn't look like from the preview
that any MANIAX is going to bedoing that. Let's see what happens.

(01:03:38):
Let's see what happens. See whathappens. So any manix is coming back.
Yeah, And I don't know ifthere's anything else that really needs to
be discussed doom. I think soin terms of news, not really.
Yeah, there was a lot ofstuff that happened, so we were able
to kind of bunch it up allinto one which leaves us all the way

(01:04:01):
to our comerac, which is Iguess the acronym for chilling out and relaxing
and relaxing all cool. I'll justplay the song here. Yes, it'll
take care of it. You mightbe missing some of the benefits that stereo
can provide. A cool and allchewing out maxin relax it all cool and

(01:04:21):
all chewing out, maxin relaxing, all cool and all chewing out maxin relaxing,
all cool and all chewing out andwelcome back. We're gonna be talking
about our Camerax Segment four movies. Please don't ever do that ever again.
Well, we're talking about the movieScream. We're talking about Scream. It

(01:04:43):
doesn't involve you actually screaming. Oh, I thought, well, you just
you just literally wrote the words scream. You said follow the script. Nope,
So I just screamed. Nope. Please don't do that, Are you
sure? Please don't ever do that? Should I do it again? Do
not do that? Sure? We'regonna be talking about a movie directed by

(01:05:06):
Wes Craven Calt Screaming. This isa movie that came out in nineteen ninety
six. It was a massive hit. I have thoughts and feelings about this,
But this is clearly a movie thatyou are interested in because you actually
reached out to me and said, hey, can we do this? And
I was like, yeah, sure, Flash is dead, so I'm gonna

(01:05:28):
have to get it at some conventionalways. Oh no, Flash screamed anyway.
So yeah, now I approached youbecause I was like, hey,
it's spooky times. It's October.October. I usually watched scary movies with
some friends, and the last fewyears I've actually been watching the Conjuring series

(01:05:51):
little by little with one of myfriends. And like, we did Conjuring,
we did Annabelle, we did allthose, and because of COVID this
year and because you know, familythings, we just you know said this
year we're gonna skip it. Andso I was like, Okay, well
we're gonna skip it. That's completelyfine with me. I understand because we

(01:06:12):
want to be socially distant and besafe and all this stuff. So I'm
like, oh, that's fine.So I'm like, cool, Well,
I'm not going to continue the Conjuringseries because you know, that's something that
I do with with my friend, and I'm gonna try to watch something else,
something Halloweeny and I'm going through mymovies list and I realize I don't
own that that many horror movies,if any rather, and I'm going through

(01:06:39):
my list, I'm like, Ihave nothing, Like I have hocus Pocus.
I really don't feel like watching Hocusposts sook right now. I have
obviously the Halloween Town movies from Disney. Plus I'm like, I'm not really
in the mood for those. SoI keep scrolling and then I get to
Scream and I'm like, oh,that's right, I forgot I bought Scream.
You really like Scream, And Istarted watching it, and I think

(01:07:00):
I can easily say now after watchingit again, Scream is probably my favorite
horror franchise now, Like I thinkI've always known that about myself, but
now I'm just like, no,no, yeah, no, Scream.
Scream is my favorite horror franchise. And I think I like it because and
we're going to discuss this here ina few moments. It's just so clever

(01:07:23):
and it's just so modern, Iguess, and it breaks rules makes new
ones at the same time, andit's just it's just a thrill ride and
it's not like full on horror whichis I think the other reason why I
like it it is, I thinkyou mentioned this when we were talking via

(01:07:45):
text. It's almost like a comedytoo. It's it's like, it's like
this horror comedy. But the thingis, the comedy never overshadows like the
scary parts or anything like that.Like there's this very perfect, big balance
there that I feel like only WesCraven was able to do because he did
also have some comedic moments for youknow, his other films like the original

(01:08:09):
Nightmare on Elm Street and New Nightmare, which he also directed, which was
the seventh Freddy Krueger movie, butthat kind of gave birth to what Scream
became, right, And I feellike he's one of the very few directors
that could have pulled this off.And the fact that a this franchise only

(01:08:30):
consists of four movies currently with afifth being filmed. All three, all
four, excuse me, We're directedby West Kraven, And I feel like
this franchise hasn't overstayed its welcome.Like you watch all the Freddie movies,
by the time you get to three, maybe even four, you're just like,
oh my god, how many moreare left? You watch Friday the
thirteenth, after maybe three again, you're just like, oh my god,

(01:08:53):
how many Jason movies are there?Halloween? Same thing, but Scream.
I can watch one, two, three and for right back to back end.
I'd be tired of them because they'realways introducing something new, Yeah,
something clever, I feel. Yeah. Yeah. So that's my take on
it. What's yours, what's what'syour what's your thing? So I have

(01:09:16):
a very um I remember watching itin high school because that was the time,
because nineteen ninety six Scream came out, and then the very next year
Scream two came out, right,so I remember watching them in close proximity
with each other. I did notsee Scream in theaters, but I do
believe I actually remember seeing Scream twoin theaters. Don't ask me how I

(01:09:43):
might have figured out a way toget as the system, because you know,
stop kids, but let that stopme. You know, I'm a
rebel. Ye, But I doremember seeing it in theaters, and I
was just remembering that, you know, this was it was new, It

(01:10:06):
was very new. It was anew way of of analyzing the entire horror
genre and making something new. Andso we're not going to talk about Scream
two. We're just going to talkabout Scream Scream in itself. If it
was just a self contained movie andthen never made a sequel to it,

(01:10:28):
it is very much a masterpiece. Was that being said? If you're looking
at Scream one and then two andthen three, like Scream two needed to
be made. There was never aquestion whether or not that movie shouldn't have
been made, because the whole purposeof the horror genre is that once you

(01:10:50):
have one thing that works in thehorror movie genre, you have to repeat
it. Right. We've talked aboutthis multiple times in you Know the show.
We've talked about you Know, Fridaythe thirteenth, We've talked about Nightmare
on Elm Street. We've talked aboutthe Saw franchise, one of my favorite

(01:11:13):
franchises that I know this might becontroversial. I don't intend for it to
be, but I'm just talking aboutsomething I watched, I liked, and
I was glad to watch the subsequentsequels that came out after it. Para
normal activity. Say what you willabout it, but it was very simple
concept. That simple concept required virtuallyno budget at all, and it just

(01:11:41):
drew you in and then the sequelswere able to just capture that same feeling,
that same style of filmmaking, andthey were able to make I think,
like five films, and they hada storyline going on. I don't
think they are making anymore, butwho knows. I mean, it's probably
due for a revival at this point, and considering the twenty twenty social distancing

(01:12:02):
and pandemic and all this stuff,I'm very certain they could revive para Normal
Activity series. But I mean Iloved it. It had me at the
edge of my seat. I absolutelyloved it. Bottle Destination was another one.
All of these movies you can neverjust make just one. You can't
so scream, taking that whole horrorgenre, turning it on its head,

(01:12:27):
literally making fun of sequels within thefirst film. You have to have a
sequel, You just have to,right. So, I don't remember not
liking any of them, but Iwill say rewatching it again for Comac,
it is strange because I found myselfbeing very distracted looking back on it now,

(01:12:48):
because everyone looks just so young andlike they're new, and a lot
of these people really hadn't hit theirstrides yet. Yeah, some people were
coming from big shows like court andevery single time I saw someone was like,
oh my gosh, is Neiff Campbell. Oh my gosh, it's Courtney
Cox, Oh my gosh, it'sDrew Barranmore, Oh my gosh, just
the striver, Like every single moment. It was just it kept taking me

(01:13:12):
out of the film. But Iguess that also helped it because it just
kept coming back to it on howlike these movies are just being referenced,
like Jamie Kennedy is in it,and it's just like this this whole moment
where everyone's just like Jamie turned around, but he's not talking about Jamie Kennedy,
talk about Jamie. Jamie. LeeCurtis was a scream queen. So

(01:13:34):
there's just a lot of just reallyclever things that are just done and you
know, we're not gonna get intothis CuPy system. But the movie was
very well written, you know,And that's saying a lot because you know,
when you have a horror movie, there's really not too much that you
can do. I mean, evensomething is suspenseful and like it has to

(01:13:56):
be really light. You can't gettoo cerebral with these things. It has
to be simple enough to draw youin and has to be a simple concept
in order to get you on boardand then drive the your home. If
you're masterful at it, like Hitchcock, if you're masterful at it like Wes
Craven, if you're masterful at itlike Jordan Peel, you'll know what notes

(01:14:21):
to play in order for you tofeel that emotion. You're this conductor.
And you know Wes Craven was ableto do this so well that you know,
the language was very kind of tonguein cheek and it's you know,
a bunch of teenagers. But itworked for that because that's the horror genre

(01:14:42):
that they were referencing, which itwasn't making fun of it. It was
paying on homage to it, butagain making something totally new. You know
this the screen mask that is typicallyused, the goal you know mask that
they use, right, ghost facethat has become an icon onto itself.

(01:15:04):
You can't ever not look at thatand think of, you know, horror
movies and scary movies. So again, I absolutely loved it. Um you
know, the casting was great, the cinematography. Not to get too much
into it, but it is oneof the very rare movies where I found
that the Dutch angle is used perfectly. Yeah, like you didn't need to

(01:15:28):
notice it. You don't notice it. There's right, there's a scene because
he use it so often in it, and it's like usually when he use
something so often, it's usually distracting, but in this film, it's not
distracting. It's really not. Andyou know, for a nineties film again,
I would grow up in the nineties. I love the nineties. Nineties

(01:15:51):
films don't really hold up too wellunless you're a genius like Steven Spielberg and
dressa park like Wes Craven in theStream, like Men in Black. You
know, like those films will lastforever. Well when you start getting into
you know, like the like Dutchangles like they're not they're noticeable when so
when you do it, you're like, I don't know, something doesn't feel

(01:16:14):
right. It's a post to makeyou feel that way. We talked about
this very often when it comes toThor. I mean Thor is this fantastic
movie as the first entry movie, but like you're Dutch angles in places that
really shouldn't be there, and it'sdistracting. Yeah, when you're watching Lego
movie too, there's this movement wherethey're playing the most addictive song that you

(01:16:35):
can possibly hear in the film, there's this moment right before you know Chris
Pant's character and the Lego movie startsgetting to play the song, but they
realize something is wrong and there isa Dutch angle that's there and it's it
happened slowly and it's wonderfully done. But that's it, like you see it

(01:16:55):
for that one scene and then they'veused it and it's done, like if
you do it again, like younotice it, but again the white cinematography
and the direction and the acting, and you know that the surprise and the
reveals, like I love it.I absolutely love it. And for somebody
who doesn't know today, if theywere watching that movie, they would have

(01:17:17):
no idea who the killer was. They would have no idea or wouldn't be
able to guess it right completely rightexactly because there are two killers in this
movie, one by spoiler territory.Guys, it's a movie from the nineties,
please h like your job usually istelling people that this is spoiler,

(01:17:41):
this is Camarad. There are norules. Just like scream, we throw
them out the window. But thereare two killers, one played by none
other than Shaggy himself, who Ithink is VIP of this movie. I
am going to say, he's gotthe best lines. He is a VIP

(01:18:06):
of this movie. He's a nationaltreasure. He is he you know what,
we are putting him in our inour list. He is a national
treasure. That man. He canact. He can act like like the
ending of the movie, when youknow he's telling Sid and every and everything,

(01:18:28):
like the plan and all this stuff, like you can see the crazy
in his eyes. It is insane. Yeah, he's really good. He's
I said this to you before andyou thought that I was just in too
deep and you created a monster. He did not create a monster. However,
I will say that if Disney hasthe cajones to create a kingdom,

(01:18:49):
hearts a movie. Good luck numberone, number two, if you do
castic Bar, I just want toput, you know, my suggestion into
the hat right now, Okay.On October of twenty twenty, Matthew Lillard
as zig Bar Please and thank you. And he's basing this off of all

(01:19:10):
because there's a line in the moviewhere Matthew Lillard goes as if but he
says it in a very zig barlast breakway and zig Bar breaks catchphrase in
the Kingdom Hearts Game is as ifI mean, but he's he's tall,
he's kind of lanky, and hehas that voice and he always has that

(01:19:32):
voice. I think he was inspiredby Matthew Lillard. I want fan art
of Matthew Lillard as zig Bar.That's what I want right now. If
I were better in that space,I would deliver it to you in a
heartbeat. Um but yeah no,so I mean, like Matthew Lillard kills
it in this role. Everybody doestoo. Like man, he would kind

(01:19:58):
of w uh, did you reallycall the police? So mad? That's
so good? But like and also, of course, Billy Loomis's character played
plays what's his name is? Keetor like, he's really good. You

(01:20:18):
know what. I was funny whenI watched this movie when I was little.
For whatever reason, I always thoughtthat Billy Loomis was played by Johnny
Depp. Oh yeah, because helooks he looks like a young Johnny Depp.
Oh yeah, he really does. But it's not Johnny Depp at all.
And every single time I watched themovie, I know it's not Johnny
Depp, but I expect to seegiant Depp, So it's weird. I

(01:20:40):
don't know. And then the otherthing that I find very strange, So
Drew Barrymore is like front and centerof all of these screen posters. She's
literally in the movie for the firstfifteen minutes. It never comes back because
she does. It's perfect, Butyou understand that's a play on the whole
thing, like you think this personis going to be this man in character

(01:21:00):
and she's killed off, so andthen who are you really rooting for it?
And then it's miss Sidney Prescott forthe rest of the franchise for the
Freschise. Absolutely correct, but youknow Nive Campbell pulls them off so well,
and I like how you know wecan probasibly talk about this when if
we talk about the other movies lateron. But she just gets better and
better with each film. It's shereally does. But you also have a
very interesting way of naming them. You said, Skeep, what did you

(01:21:25):
say his name was? Isn't itwork? Yeah, he didn't say that,
you said, I heard you sayarlike, Oh, that might have
been me just being dyslexic and dumb. No, no, not dumb.
I just I've heard people say differentnames We've talked about names on here.
Sometimes we had to practice several minutes, if not longer too. Yeah,

(01:21:47):
we go see if it's still good. I'm still good on it. It's
just yeah, I'm still good onit. Know for sure. I have
to say it every once in awhile. I get ready. So we
review doctor Strange too, because I'msure he'll go up. We will know
his name like easily. Yeah, but what did what? What is Cyndey

(01:22:08):
Prescott's real name Neive Campbell? Ialways called a Nev Campbell. Oh,
I could have sworn I heard itas Nive. But you know, this
is like people saymala Harris. Doyou know? Do you know why Harris?
Actually you know, I just realizedwhy. I think I've heard it
as Nive. Um. It's becauseof a Boy Meets World episode. H

(01:22:32):
Do you remember the Halloween episode? No, so there's this is probably the
most famous and this will make sensein a second. This is probably the
most famous Boy Meets World episode,I think, at least or in my
eyes is there's the Halloween episode wherebasically it's Corey to Panga. They're having
like a fight, and Sean dreamsup this dream world, um where everybody

(01:22:57):
is getting killed by a killer asa killer. It's kind of based off
Scream almost a little bit like thesame get up, like the black cloak
and the mask and all that stuff. Um, But Jennifer Love Hewitt is
a guest star on that episode, and they mentioned Party of five, which
who was in that? Who wasin that? I don't know, I
don't know. I really don't know. Campbell, what's it? Yes,

(01:23:23):
so I generally forgot, but JenniferLove Hewitt specifically calls her Knieve Campbell.
So that's why I always remember thatas like, oh, so it's neat.
I see, I completely see. You're right. I just completely forgot
about that. I completely forgot aboutthat completely. You know who I think

(01:23:44):
about every single time I think aboutParty of five? Lacy Chambert. Yeah,
that's fair. I whenever I thinkof that, she's the first person
that comes into my mind, andthen I think about mean Girls, and
then I'm like, yeah, that'sit. Yeah. But that's that's why
that's why I think I call herkne because of that episode, because they've
specifically say your name as Nive Campbell. Gotcha. So I need to go

(01:24:05):
back and review that because like Thisis the nice part, because there's some
things that you're going to tell methat I'm completely forget about, and you
remind me some things that I'm goingto do the same thing for you.
But like Party of Five was nota show that I was too familiar with
what it means world. I absolutelydid watch a lot of but I didn't

(01:24:25):
rewatch it. So with Disney Plus, I can go back and just rewatch
it all. But there's a lotof stuff that's on Disney Plus right now
that I need to go back,Like one of them is Symptoms, which
by the way, is uh,you know, season thirty one is now
on Disney Plus finally, finally,So but you say all this to say

(01:24:48):
the movie is absolutely amazing. Idon't know if I had any issues with
it. I don't either. Ithink it's I think it's perfect, Honestly,
I I think it's perfect too.And you usually like there's some like
if I had to be super nitpicky, but like I don't even get like
the whole Like when I'm watching SpiderMan, it just feels older now,

(01:25:13):
I don't get that. Like withthis one, it just feels like like
it's elevated itself. Like I canwatch Beast to the Future right now.
I'm like, Yep, that movieis perfection. There's nothing wrong with that
film. I can watch Dress andPark right now and say, Yep,
that movie's perfection. There's nothing wrongwith that film. I can watch,
you know, like Men in Black, same thing. I'm trying to think
of other nineties movies that we're upthere that just simply can't like linking perfect

(01:25:39):
example, linking ye. Like,I don't know if I could show that
movie to a kid right now andsay like, hey, could you tell
me what year this was made?Just by looking at it? You know,
I think it's important because there's alot of movies I'm looking at,
you know, in the eighties.I'm like, yeah, it looks like
early eighties. It's like early eighties. You know what. I just realized,

(01:26:00):
what's that? So, speaking ofLanking, guess who voiced Kiara in
Lanking two? No? Really, yeah, but suffice to say, Scream
excellent, excellent movie. If youhave not watched it. I just spoiled

(01:26:23):
the hell out of it. Ifyou haven't seen it, so good luck
with that. But yeah, Imean this again, this is one of
the friends, one of the fewhorror movie franchises that I feel like it
kind of went a little little downhillwith three, but then it came right
back up before. Um, youwant to know how bad it is.
In the first one, I waslegitimately surprised who the killers were. Yeah.

(01:26:45):
In the second one, I knewexactly who the killer was, and
I remember sitting in theaters and Iwas just like, it's it's him.
I know it's him, watching behim. They're like no, no,
no, no, no, you'rewrong. And I remember sitting in theaters.
I was like, it's him,it's him, watching very carefully,
and then it was him, andI was like, I was right,
I was right. Everyone was pissedthat I guessed it, and I was
just like, because you gotta look, you gotta look at it. You

(01:27:08):
have to look at it. Andthen and then the third one I also
guessed to who the killer was.Yeah, the third one, I like
three, but it was just like, hmmm, that's a little bit of
a stretch, yeah, a littlebit. Yeah, I remember the actor.
Yeah, I remember at all.Yeah, yeah, yeah. But

(01:27:29):
then of course, did you watchfour. I have to look at it
again because I want to say theanswer is yes, but I couldn't tell
you what the ending is, sothat may mean that I forgot it.
But I do remember too very clearly, and I remember three very clearly.
Yeah. Four it was clever.I thought four it was clever. I
may need to watch it again, yeah, or buy it, yeah,

(01:27:51):
or right it to go on.Three. Yeah, I had, but
there was a I think it waseither earlier this year. I think earlier
this year. Um, they hada pack on iTunes for the four of
them for like twenty five bucks orsomething, and I bought them all.
Hm. I was very fortunate toget all of them. And uh,

(01:28:11):
they've announced that they are doing ascreen five. Miss Nieve Campbell is returning,
mister which we didn't even talk about. Frigging David Arquette amazing, He's
coming back. Miss Court's coming back. Yeah, they're all coming back.
They're all coming back, and they'vebeen at all them and there's there's a

(01:28:33):
lot of things that are coming back. We haven't even talked about Dexter.
Dexter is coming back or like alimited ten season run. I watched that,
you know, that whole series show. I was so good up until
the expending, until the end,and so there's a lot of like you
know, there's a lot of thingsthat we you know, typically discuss.

(01:28:55):
This is the first time I feellike we were able to discuss everything.
This is what happened as when we'reorganized. Just just letting you know,
I'm just putting it out there, but just also look at the timer.
Yeah, yeah, you're absolutely butwe're nowhere near where we used to be.
Nevertheless, who knows what they're actuallygoing to be doing. It is

(01:29:16):
going to be interesting. They mayredo the last season. They may try
and redeem the last season. Ijust love Dokes. I think Dokes was
an underrated character. I think hewas the best character. It just didn't
needn't need to go supplies with thestaple shirt supplies mother. Um I it

(01:29:46):
would be great if the voice doesn'tcome back for Dexter, but Dokes's voice
