get to those questions or comments in a future episode. Tonight,
running through the randomness. It is the end of the year.
We don't know how many of these episodes are going
to get to do before the big ball on New
Year's Eve. So let's get into what's going on aw
Collision tonight. Mercedes Monette is the big story coming out
(03:06):
of the show, losing the Rev Pro Championship to Alex
Windsor at some point you knew she had to start
dropping some of these belts, but now she's starting to
turn it into a trend, starting to lose championships left
and right, and I guess that's exactly what you kind
of need to do. I would hope that over time,
her acquiring all these championships and doing everything she's done
with this run has helped those promotions gain the viewership,
(03:29):
the notoriety, whatever it is that they were looking to do.
I hope that was very successful for them. For me personally,
I just I think she's one of the best talented
female wrestlers in the world, and I think her carrying
your championship as a banner talent for any company is
only a perk to that company. So great run for
her with whatever championship she still does have and once
(03:49):
she's recently relinquished. But I just hope that the fans
have given the support to those other companies. That was
the whole purpose behind doing this. So graduations Alex Windsor
winning the Rev Pro Championship, that's beautiful, a great title
switch nobody saw coming. And then the other big shocker
tonight is seeing the the upset in the Continental Classic.
(04:13):
We as going into the Continental Classic, most people I
think automatically assumed that Kazuska Okada was going to walk
through this thing because he's the tournament wrestler that they
always talk about. Well tonight in the Continent Class that
Kevin Knight actually picks up a win over Okada, who
was going for a couple of rain makers kept missing
him and then the Knight ended up grabbing his arm
(04:34):
and rolling him up for a surprise win. And that's
huge for Kevin Knight, and it makes it a little
more complicated at the end of the Gold League because
now there's a five way tie for first place in
the Gold League and I don't know what you do
to resolve that, so we're gonna have to wait and
see how all that plays out. It was a great show.
Jack Perry defeated speedball Mike Bailey in another tournament match,
(04:58):
so it's the tournaments of fan Tony khankudos to him
are putting together a concept. I'm not going to give
him full credit for creating the concept, Let's be honest.
It's basically the g One climax, but booking it can't
be simple, and he's made it very different every year.
So it's really exciting to see that he's made some
changes this year to make it feel fresh, feel like
(05:20):
like the concept isn't going to get stale on us,
which is very exciting. Let's get some updates in about TNA.
We have talent contracts we know we're coming due at
the end of this year, and apparently several talents have
been given what they're considering short term contracts. We don't
know how many months. It sounds like three to four
month deals. Fightful Select and several other outlets pointing out
that Steve Macklin, AJ Francis are are already on the
(05:44):
on the books for those short term contracts. Jake Something
Zachary Wentz also possibly having those short term contracts, which
I mean, I get it. You get him under contract
for the short term, hopefully negotiate something more long term.
Especially with the new TV deal coming, you had to
have some people under contract heading into it. They've other
people who are working without a contract currently. That's never
a good thing. I don't recommend any company do that,
(06:05):
but at least TNA is starting to address things, at
least in the short term. I just wish when you're
going to be getting a significant influx of money from
a new partner that you use that reinvested in your
product and make it so that we can have some
of these people more long term. I think that's really
kind of a miss for DNA wrestling. Of course, also
in the news may be a miss. Maybe maybe success
(06:27):
depends on how you look at it. WWE their current mentality,
according to Wrestling Incorporated Wrestling Inc. Apparently their current mentality
about hiring new wrestlers, signing new contracts and things that
nature is is that there's such a backup of so
much talent in the NXT brand that there is no
reason nor do they have a desire to sign anybody
(06:48):
unless it's like a mainstream star from the outside of
the company that does not look like they're looking to
make any of those acquisitions. In the past, if you
would have seen somebody, you know, a quality person Hit
Tommy or somebody like that back in the day, or
even I'll even go there, the Kevin Stein's, the l
Generico's when they're in Ring of Honor and eventually making
(07:09):
their way to the performance center, I don't know if
you would see as many of those now, which is
somewhat alarming. I mean, I get it, NXT's got phenomenal talent.
There's nothing you can take away from the NXT talent.
A lot of people feel like it's the best show
every week on television to begin with. But at the
same time, if you're not hiring people, the word that's
coming out, and this is reported by various outlets, including
(07:29):
the Wrestling Observer newsletter, Dave Meltzer saying that, you know,
when AW or TNA stars have contacted WWE, they've been
told that the companies not looking to hire any new
talent unless it's somebody like a Chris Jericho or a
Leon Slater or something like that, not looking to bring
anybody in. You know, we've just got done saying how
TNA is signing four people's short term deals. WWE is
(07:50):
not doing a whole lot of that. They bring in
a couple of people that they're trying to you know, basically,
you know develop. You know, they're still going to do
their their tryouts because they have to keep that farming
system going in NXTA and at the Performance Center. But
they have so much talent down there that there's really
just not a reason to go, you know, searching the
INDs or whatever, looking for the next free agent. Signing,
(08:12):
and it's that they're not really recruiting a ton from
New Japan, Pro Wrestling or All Japan or Progrestling. Noah,
they purchased Triple A, So in theory, I mean, I
guess maybe you could look at it as if they
use Triple A guys on the main roster, maybe that's
kind of like doing that, but it's not. They're not
really going after CMLLL talent. There was some reports about
a month or two ago that they might look at
doing some of that, but nothing's materialized since so right now,
(08:34):
almost like a hiring freeze in WWE, which is very interesting.
Other w note reportedly they are producing a John Seen
or retirement documentary that the theory is is that it
would be on Peacock whenever it comes out, looking for
like a mid twenty twenty six release. That's according to
wrestle Voltes Radio on Fightful Select that there were camera
(08:56):
crews at Saturday Night's main event producing content that'll be
used in the documentary all throughout the show, for the
match against Gunther and all the events taking place backstage
and everything else. I think that was kind of something
we all kind of could have assumed was going to
happen anyways, but at least now we have some kind
of confirmation that's something like that is going on. Speaking
(09:18):
of the John Scene retirement, we already know the AJ
Styles is hanging up the boots later this year, possibly
brock Lesner. We know Hiroshi tana Hashi retires after Russell Kingdom.
Our Truth was having a conversation this week. He was
having a discussion with Saturday Night's main event recap where
there was a conversation about whether he was going to retire,
(09:40):
and he made reference. He said he told Punk we
all on deck. He said, I'm on deck, meaning like
he knows at some point it's going to happen. He
even referenced at one point during the interview, he said
that his current contract at WWE, which he signed last June,
could be the last one of his professional wrestling career.
And there's a quote at the very nWay say we
all have that time. We all have to get off
(10:02):
the ride at some point, Our Truth. I mean, look,
John Seen is forty eight years old and hanging up
his boots. Our Truth. Even though John Seen is his
childhood hero, a little older than John Cena. You know
he's in his fifties, so I mean, he still looks great,
he still performs great. I wish he'd be the more
serious character when he came back, but you know, he
(10:23):
loves what he's doing and he feels great. He hasn't
had a lot of injuries, so more power to him.
If he's enjoying his career. Go out on your own terms.
But he definitely is acknowledging that he's getting closer to
the end in the beginning obviously, So a couple things here.
If you are somebody who does not like spoilers, this
would be a good time to leap ahead a few
minutes because we're going to give three spoilers from the
SmackDown tapings for next week because they are recording more
(10:46):
than one episode because of the holiday season. The big
one for me NXT superstar Trick Williams is being called
up to the main roster. He is being listed on
the internal roster for the SmackDown brand and will apparently
have a backstage conversation segment with Cody Rhodes and it
is going to be hit marking his permanent move to
(11:06):
the main roster. I think everybody has kind of thought
that might have happened a year ago, and now it's
nice to see that he's going to move to the
main roster and have something of substance to do there, hopefully,
especially if they're having him mess around with Cody Rhods.
Already Cody Rhodes has his hands full with Drew McIntire.
Another spoiler from that taping. This week's episode saw the
(11:27):
discussion between Aldus and McIntyre about you know, McIntyre gets
to choose the stipulation for his championship match against Cody,
and the stipulation he's going to choose is he's going
to take the Three Stages of Hell match that we
haven't seen in over twelve years, where you know, there's
gonna be three different stipulation matches over the course of
(11:48):
one night and they have to wrestle three different matches.
The last time we saw one of these, John Sena
defended the w W Championship against Rye back Like one
match was a lumberjack match, one was an ambulance match,
one was a tables match, all in one night. So
it'll be curious to see how they book this. So
it's like Drew mcna is getting a third shot, but
he's really getting three more matches with Cody Rhodes all
(12:08):
in one night. That'll be interesting and related to what
we were just talking about with Trick Williams and Cody
Rhoads and all that kind of stuff. The other huge
news coming out of the tapings is a championship will
change hands again. If you don't like spoilers, this is
not the moment of the show to listen to. But
next week there are photos and apparently according to spoilers
that were posted on x, various fans put up that
(12:30):
Carmelo Hayes is going to defeat Ilia Dragonoff for the
United States Championship. Drugonoff is going to put the belt
on him and celebrate with him. I have to wonder
if there's gonna be some kind of tie into Trick
Williams and Carmelo now that Carmelo is gonna be the
United States Champion. But I love it Carmelo getting an
opportunity to let his character grow a little bit, get
(12:52):
some championship gold around his waist. I think it's taken
a little long, especially when we have these big card
championships like the Internal Championship. I think that's perfect for
somebody like him right now when the top of the
card is so crowded. So congratulations to him a little early,
even though we're not supposed to know about it yet,
but that's awesome, good for him and something I'm thrilled
to see. That's all the time we have for this episode.
Check back with this next episode'll run down to latest
(13:13):
wrestling news and rumors, and hopefully we'll get out at
our end of your awards conversation for anybody who likes
to support independent wrestling, I got to throw the plug
out there. January tenth Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy
in NARSTWN Area School District. I will be there defending
the Eisenhower Heavyweight Championship against JT. Cage in a hardcore match.
(13:34):
I'm looking forward to really taking it to JT. Cage.
Guy likes to talk a whole lot of trash on
social media, and he talks a lot of trash about
my students. I will be taking it out on him
that night. Please, if you were in the area and
