(02:49):
get to those questions, comments, are concerns in a future episode. Tonight,
we're bouncing all over the place. We've got injury updates,
retirement conversation, contract stuff, just a little michmash of every everything,
all taking place at the same time as NXT No Mercy,
which is going on right now. The match card has
already produced some really great results. We'll get into those

(03:09):
as we go through the episode. Let's start with Piper
Niven on the injury shelf for quite a while now,
since the match was Charlotte Flair in Europe when they
had their European leg of their tour. Apparently it is
a serious neck injury. All news I was reporting. Wrestling
Observer Newsletter also described it as a potentially career threatening injury.
I don't like to give a lot of credit to

(03:30):
Meltzer because Meltzer sometimes they go way too far. Fightful
Select talked about there was no official diagnosis that has
been given. Some people were talking about that she is
going to be able to come back from injury. Some
people talking about how they're expecting her to make a
full recovery. Other people not ready to say that, so
not really sure where she's going to be long term.
What we can say is Piper niven I in a

(03:52):
lot of ways is an underappreciated, amazing talent, very unique
and she could do almost everything from it like catches
catch can wrestling to the comedic stuff to power wrestling.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
You know, she really does have.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
A wide spread in her repertoire and she doesn't always
get the showcase that in WWE, but she whatever she's given,
she does very well. And she is someone who we
are gonna miss from on the roster, especially with what
she's been doing with Chelsea Green and Alba Faire recently.
I think that that that group now is in danger
if they don't find somebody fill the void while she's
out with injury. And if it really is as serious

(04:28):
as some people have hypothesized, it could be a substantially.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Long injury period.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And how horrible is this not just for her, but
for the other two ladies who clearly there was an
opportunity there for an uptick and bringing them in and
making them major focal parts of the women's division for
a very long period of time. Moving from injury news
to returning news. Shinsky Nakamora has not been on a
WWE show since June when he was eliminated from the

(04:53):
King of the Ring tournament. But there is a Super
Show set of events taking place in the Sumo Hall
in Tokyo, Japan, Friday, October seventeenth Saturday October eighteenth, and
they revealed the lineups this week and they they're interesting.
Name on there is Shinskan Nakamura. He's coming back. And
not only is he coming back, but oddly last time
he was on television, he was portraying a heel character.

(05:14):
At the Super show he will be quite different. Shinzkan
Nakamura on the seventeenth will be teaming with jay Uso
to take on bron Breaker and Bronson Reid, and then
the following night it will be CM Punk, jay Uso
and Shinsky Nakamura taking on seth Ron's bron Breaker and
Bronson Reid. So both nights in Japan making an appearance,
returning to the ring and doing so as a babyface.

(05:35):
I mean, it makes a lot of sense being through
in Japan. Hopefully they let him work that Japanese style,
something he cultivated such an incredible reputation for.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Back in the day with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and
I really hope they let him do what he is
capable of doing.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
I think WWE, ever since the few with aj styles
a few years back after he won the Roll Rumble
didn't really go the way they wanted it to, didn't
have the reaction I think they wanted it to.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
They've kind of thrown cold water on him for quite
a long time.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
It's great to see him get an opportunity to really
showcase his skills in a premium, premium match opportunity. Let's
move from returning star to some potentially leaving stars Masha
Slamovich the very controversial week that she has had previous
relationship that she was in making it very clear that
their perspective was that there had been some very serious

(06:24):
domestic violence situations taking place within the relationship.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
They are no longer together.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
But with the announcement coming out about these domestic violence concerns,
it has been reported p tow insider Elite talking about
the fact that her contract with TNA Wrestling is coming
to an end very soon. It's no longer clear that
she'll re sign with the company because of the allegations
that are being held levied against her. She did come
out her former partner Akira real name Alexander James Atkisson.

(06:54):
She claims it it was a mutually destructive relationship that
she's gone to therapy and things of that nature since
she's really grown as a person. Is His perspective was
basically represented by a sequence of tweets by a friend
of his, with text messages apparently back and forth between
the two and quite frankly, I haven't read them because.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I don't need to know their business.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I hope for all relationships to be a positive situation Unfortunately.
It sounds like this one wasn't. They have separated, They've
gone their separate ways. Sounds like he a Kiro is
not looking forward to sharing the information, but his friend
was like holding off and holding.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Off and now felt the need to do it at
this time.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And it is clearly affecting booking because she was supposed
to appear at TNA Victory Road and that did not happen.
Because of this situation, She's pulled from the show and
a lot of crazy stuff happened that night related to
her match. We're gonna get into some of that as
we go through, but still not sure what's going to
happen now with Masha Slamovich because.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Of all of this.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Now tied into that is the fact that in TNA Wrestling,
Ash by Elegance formerly Dana Brook, the Knockouts Champion, was
forced to vacate Women's championship there. There is no word
on what the situation is, just that she is being
forced to take a step away from in ring competition.
People have hypothesized everything from a serious in ring injury

(08:11):
to a cancer diagnosis. Now I'm not here to further
any of the speculation until we get some legit words
from the woman herself. I think she deserves that dignity
and that right to share what she wants to share
when she's ready to share it. I'm just reiterating the
things that I've seen, the gamut that I've seen online,
and I think that's destructive. I don't think people should
do that. What I think is very important to highlight

(08:32):
is the fact that this is a young lady who
in WWE was never really given a premium spot, never
given a championship opportunity other than the twenty four to
seven Championship she held fifteen different times, but legitimate women's
championships never given that shot. Goes to TNA Wrestling, becomes
Ash by Elegance, wins the Knockouts Tag Team Championship, and
then finally, finally, finally wins the Knockouts Women's World Championship

(08:54):
and unfortunately is forced.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
To vacate the title. Later on that evening, Killanie Jordan, NXT.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Superstar, wins the championship for a battle roil and going
head to head with the former z A Lee, and
she's the new Knockouts Champion, which is weird for me
since she's another NXT star taking an TNA championship.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
And we're gonna get any more of that later.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
But yeah, the strange stuff happened in there, and as
I said tonight, we're gonna be jumping.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Around a lot. But it's all like all about returns.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Or debuts or leaving the business or coming back from
the business, and this one's about contracts expiring. Jasmine Nicks
NXT Superstar WWE departure this week. She turned down an
offer from WWE to extend her contract for another three years.
Word has now come out flightful Select confirming that she
was offered a three year, seventy five thousand dollars a
year contract. It was a multi year offer. But her

(09:41):
statement that you put out and I'm paraphrasing in a way,
basically alluded to the fact that she had outside projects
she wanted to do while with WWE, that she was
not able to fulfill because of her requirements of a contract,
and that the financial terms that they offered her it
was not essentially advantageous for her to take that contract
offer because she can make a lot more money doing
a lot of other ad endeavors. I do want to

(10:02):
point out I have a lot of respect for the
fact that one of the first things that came out
is she said she is not talking about OnlyFans.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I feel really like people.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Disrespect some of the lady talent when they leave the
business automatically, assuming that that's the only way they can
make money, and it's not. This is a young lady
who is an athlete. She was a soccer star before
going to WWE. She's done as much as she could
in WWE's umbrella, has had many injuries, still has given
some great opportunities and made the most of those opportunities.
I hope she goes elsewhere and performs in the ring

(10:30):
a gag. I think she's the supreme talent, but it
sounds like her heart might not necessarily be into the
wrestling world.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
And that's okay. But leaving WWE let her contract expire.
This was not a termination.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
They did offer her another deal, she just chose not
to take it. Similarly, moving to our next conversation again,
stick with the theme tonight about these signings and releases
and all that kind of stuff. Let's talk about retirements tonight.
Aj Styles making it clear this week that twenty twenty
six will.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Be the year that he retires.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
He was doing an interview with Tokyo Worts, and it
was translated by Google that he revealed that he will
officially retire in twenty twenty six. The quote that I
have here says, I will probably appear at WrestleMania, but
it's not confirmed yet. The details are still undecided, but
I will definitely retire within the next year. He says,
I don't want to show my fans a side of
me that isn't aj styles. That's the main reason I've

(11:19):
decided to retire before my body can no longer move.
The interesting thing about this is he had made reference
to the fact that this was going to be the
last contract he signed. This contract actually has been reportedly
is supposed to run out in February, so maybe they
do a short term extension to get through WrestleMania, but
he was emphasizing the fact that this will probably be
the last time he performs in Tokyo. Most people don't

(11:39):
expect him to go to aw when he's done. Pretty
much when he's done, he's done. And one of the
interesting things there was a quote here from him also
that says it might be good to train young wrestlers
to be worthy of being on the main roster, but
I don't know yet, alluding to the possibility of working
with WWE in their developmental system and in NXT. Somebody
also referenced during the interview about his past experience with

(12:01):
Hiroshi Tanahashi. He mentioned he's a truly great wrestler. There
was conversation about whether or not they could have one
last match, and he didn't entirely shut down the idea.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
He said.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
He said, quote, I still want to do it, of
one thousand percent. However, we have we both have our
positions to consider, so I don't know if it will happen.
We're both on the path to retirement. But this is
truly a happy thing. In professional wrestling, your body will
inevitably wear out. I think it's a great joy just
to be able to have a retirement match. So, and
that's coming on the heels of the fact that he
will be wrestling John Cena at Crown Jewel and getting

(12:34):
one of those dream matches on John Zena's retirement tour.
And now we know that aj Styles also will be
hanging up the boots very shortly, switching from all that
kind of contract stuff to a different contract situation. Drew
mcatyre has been chosen to join the reboot of one
of my favorite film series, the Highlander series. The series

(12:54):
is going to be produced by Gosh It's it's through
Amazon Prime Video. I'm trying to remember what the exact
terminology of who is making this, but basically the reboot
is of the original Highlander film nineteen eighty six, Christopher
Lambert starring as Connor McLoud. Now this time we're gonna

(13:16):
have Henry Cavell taking on the role of Connor McLoud.
There's actually the and Batista will also be in the film,
starring as Kurgan. Production has actually been paused. It was
in pre production earlier this month, but Deadline reported that
the film had halted production due to an injury sustained
by Cavil during his training for the show. But they

(13:36):
are expecting that filming will pick up into early twenty
twenty six. So it'll be interesting to see Drew McIntyre
on the big screen, getting that opportunity and doing something
that quite frankly, I think he'll fit very well. If
you've never seen Highland or that's something you should go
check out. Got to throw down some conversation about you
know what we've seen from SmackDown this week. I thought

(13:56):
the show came across relatively flat. We got to hear
from Paul Hayman. We had some Cody Rose interaction with
Paul Hayman, furthering the brock Lesner conversation.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
A brawl ensued. Randy Orton made to save I'm okay
with it.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
I guess I just I don't know why we're putting
so many appearances by raw stars on SmackDown and vice versa.
We saw Carmelo Hayes and the Mis take on the
Spree Street Profits Number one contenders match for the tag titles.
This bothered me one because Carmelo Hayes never helps his
partner on at the end of the match and I end.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Up losing two.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
The Street Profits do not need another championship opportunity against
the Wyatt Six. We need somebody new in there. This
is like playing the same crap for the last six months.
I'm kind of over it. Hayes and the Miss going
against the Wyat six would have made a little more
sense to me because it's a fresh matchup, but we're
not gonna get that now. Instead, obviously we're gonna see
Hayes and miss split up at some time sometime very soon.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Not a big fan of it.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I'm just not It's not energizing to me whatsoever. We
got to stare down with the Profits and the Wyatt Six.
Afterwards we had the tag team match Julia and Keanu
James against b fabime Chin. I don't think anybody was
surprised when Julia picked up to win here after a
Northern Life bomb. I don't think anybody expects anything but that.
Julia I think has been booked terribly since winning the
United States Championship. I think she needs to be in

(15:07):
a much higher level feud. She should be a main
eventter and for whatever reason, and I feel like she's
being held down a little bit. They had a conversation
with Charlotte Fair and Alexa Bliss in the back, clearly
teasing that Julia and Keanu.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Could be future opponents.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Sol Roka and Zaria appeared having a verbal confrontation. Clearly
that's going to be a match at some point with
the NXT Stars. And then we see Drew McIntyre go
to the ring for what I thought was the best
part of the night, when we get the return of
Jacob Fatu. It ends up getting very physical. Jacob Fatu
Randy or apologize, Drew McIntyre gave him a Glasgow kiss.

(15:43):
He pretty much almost no sould it came back and
took out Drew McIntyre. This is good stuff. It's a
great fear for both of them. I actually don't want
to see either one of them lose. I think Drew
has earned the right to not lose for a change,
But how can you beat Jacob Fatu? That would be
a bad idea, especially coming off the fact that he
gave solo to Cod the US title and never gave
him a rematch. So we'll have to see how this works.

(16:03):
But I think the match is gonna be absolute fire
and I can't wait to see it. Sammy' z ain
defended the US Championship in an open challenge against Javon Evans.
The match was phenomenal, won a good ten minutes. Sammy's
Ain picks up the win after the Haluvah kick and
a blue thunderbomb, but it was very competitive throughout the
whole match. Mad respect for Javon Evans. Great match. I
really really enjoyed that one as well. Then we end

(16:25):
the night on the Biggest train wreck of the evening,
Tiffany Stratton defending the Women's ww Women's Championship against Nia
Jacks n J Cargo in a Women's Championship triple threat match.
The horrible botch where we see Tiffany Stratton go for
a pin and the ref counting one, two, three clean,
and then literally a second or two after counting the

(16:47):
three Naya Jacks like looking confused and talking to the
reft and then kicking out and the match just keeps going.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
It's horrible.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
It's one of the worst botches I've ever seen. After
the match, Stephanie Vakira walks out, she brings her championship
to hold side by side with Stratton. The two of
them will face off at Crown Jewel, so to be
curious to see how that plays out. But all in all,
I thought Smack that was relatively weak this week. No
pun intended like there is so much more that could
have been done with this. As we're saying that, let's

(17:16):
take a quick peek. I'm pulling up the results for
No Mercy because as I'm speaking to you it's taking place.
A lot had happened before we started recording. Earlier in
the night, John Javon Evans had beat Josh Briggs, which
is a huge win for him. He's gonna be going
to TNA to challenge for the X Division Championship at
Gosh Bound for Glory, so that'll be exciting. Soul Rocca

(17:38):
successfully defended her Women's Speed Championship against Jada Parker.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Which was another phenomenal match.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Right before the time ran out, Jordan Grace and blakeman
Roe had a throwdown in the Weapini Steel Cage match.
It saw Jordan Grace pick up the win. I think
that's the right decision. I think everybody at this point
is ready for Jordan Grace to go to the main roster.
I think they're gonna hot shot her there, which is
kind of a detriment of Jordan Grace because she's ready.
He's been ready since the day she got there. It

(18:04):
was announced that NXT and TNA will be taking part
in a premium live event called Invasion on October seventh.
The Hardy Boys will be facing Dark State in a
winner takes all match for the NXT and TNA World
Tight Team Championships. Everyone is barred from ringside during the
championship match later tonight. It's gonna take place, So there's.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
A lot of stuff going on in this.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
In this backstage segment, we got Tavi on Heights versus
Ethan Page, Ethan Page retaining the North American Championship. And
what I found interesting is Triple A Star l Eho
Dave Doctor Wagner Junior appeared on the Titan Tron afterward
telling him he had his eyes on him and then
he'd be coming for him as well. So Ethan Page,
he seems to be finding a competition popping up pretty
much everywhere. He can't seem to get away from it.

(18:46):
That's where we sit right now. I'm sure other matches
are taking place as we speak, but that's where we're
at right now.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
And and just one last thing before we go tonight.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
There was a huge bit of news today pertaining to
rout Roddy Piper. He was accused of sexually assaulting Lunavashan
when she was twelve or thirteen years old in a
documentary that she was released about her life. It's called
Lunatic The Lunavijeon Vashon Story, and it was at It's

(19:17):
a Fantastic Fest and the people in the theater apparently
who were watching this. One of the claims by Tyler Williams,
a wrestling content creator, said the whole everybody in the
theater was just blown away, the floored by the claim.
It's very interesting that this would come out. And here's
the thing, like, I'm not trying to push a narrative
of any kind whatsoever. Poor you know, rest in peace.

(19:38):
Lundav Sean passed away August twenty ten. Roddy Piper passed
away to twenty fifteen. Neither one of them is here
to have this discussion. Neither one of them is here
to defend themselves, speak their minds, speak their truth. I've
seen people online already going to bat for both of them,
like this, should they should kick Piper out of the
Hall of fame that I've seen other people say stuff
like maybe she's got her dates wrong, she was out

(20:00):
of her head in her life.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
I'm not here to pass judgment, but it is definitely
noteworthy that this conversation took place today at the showing
of her her documentary. It's troublesome, to say the least,
especially if you're a member of the Piper household, the
Tombs household. His daughter Ariel still is a professional wrestler,
Like I imagine what this does for her.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's just just a shame all the way around. But
that's where we're at.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
And the news came out and we'll have to wait
and see how things play out in the coming weeks
to see how people react to news like this. That's
all the time we have this episode. Check back with
us next episode we run down the latest wrestling news
and rumors. Special thanks is always Tosuno for creating the
