the big breaking news of the day. Ww officially announces
WWE Wressell Palooza for September twentieth in Indianapolis, the first
(03:14):
premium live event on ESPN and it's going to be
a big show. This is kind of a surprise for
a lot of people because there was a contract in
place for wwepls to be on Peacock relative pretty much exclusively,
but based on information release today, the ESPN deal was
allowed to go through a little bit early in terms
(03:35):
of this particular property because the Peacock app is under
the operating under the assumption that they have fulfilled because
they did two night WrestleMania and to Night SummerSlam, they've
fulfilled the number of pl requirements, especially when you factoring
the rest of the year that they are going to
be required for their Peacock contract. So it opens up
the door for the opportunity for the ESPN deal to
(03:58):
have this opportunity be on ESPN for the first time ever.
It's almost like a test run to see what it's
going to be like once they transition all the ps
to ESPN's intellectual property. On the flip side, there is
also conversation about the fact that with this deal being done,
it also gives the rights to a Saturday Night's main
(04:21):
event that was previously been on NBC's broadcast television station
to Peacock to stream four times a year. So that
means if you want to tune in to see John
Cena's last match, you're going to be tuning into Peacock
on December thirteenth or whatever the day is. Right now,
it says December thirteenth. We talked in a previous episode
that might move to December twenty seventh to go head
to head with Worlds Collide. We'll have to wait and
(04:41):
see if that actually happens. And the other big news
related to all of this is that there's conversation about
the biggest matches at that show, Russell Palooza, and right
now the two matches that are being strategically positioned to
be at the top of the card, and I would
suggest there's going to be others, but right now, the
one that we've been talking about for quite a while now,
John Cena versus brock Lesner, will probably be the main event,
(05:04):
headlining match. And also the plan at least right now
is for John Cena, I apologize for Cody Rhodes to
defend the WWE Undisputed Championship against Drew McIntyre at that show.
They have enough time that they could build that up
really make it meaningful. I believe Drew McIntyre has done
some of the best work of his career in the
(05:25):
last couple of years. I was a huge fan when
he defeated brock Lesner and went to the Rumble and
looked so dominant that whole run. But this last two
years has just been masterful. The only thing I don't
like about this is I really want to see Drew
McIntyre win the championship, and I don't think you could
take it off Cody this fast. I actually would almost
prefer McIntyre not have gotten this opportunity until WrestleMania, unless
(05:47):
the plan is still Cody versus Randy Orton at Wresselemania,
where I think Randy Orton would win the championship. But
other news, before we get to September twentieth and WWE
Russell Palooza, we have Paris coming in less than two weeks,
and the big word came out this week. We saw
it teased on RAW. If you listen to what Roman
Reigns was saying as Raw was about to go off
(06:09):
the air, he said, I'll see you in Paris. He
was talking to Bronson Reid. It is official, Adam Pierce
going out on w's channel on X and made it official.
Roman Reigns versus Bronson Reid will be at the Clash
in Paris pay per view. That is another headlining match
that'll be at that show. They are really stacking some
(06:29):
of these shows, and that's beautiful for them because they
run these shows head to head as often as they
can with aw properties, and they just they're not letting up.
They're keeping the foot down to the floor. Now I
get it. I was very critical SmackDown last week. Raw
this week wasn't exactly a creative masterpiece, meaning it was
very redundant to what they've been doing recently. But you
(06:52):
can't argue with the fact that they are starting to
give some matches that are absolutely fabulous quality. That being said,
it's not just Raw and SmackDown. Von Evans earning an
NXT Championship opportunity at heat Wave, which is prepared to
go this weekend head to head with Forbidden Bor Forbidden
Door sort of. Forbidden Door will actually be going on
earlier because they're on time over in Europe, whereas Javon
(07:14):
evans Is opportunity will come later in the evening at
heat Wave, but still running the same day. And that's purposeful.
People who are paying for these different shows oftentimes are
not gonna want to pay for both shows, so they'll
obviously make their choice and go one way or the other.
And it's a long day of wrestling if you're trying
to do both, especially with the length of the card
for Forbidden Door. I believe that this is going to
(07:35):
be Javon Evans opportunity. I think they will transition the
NXT Championship off of Obafemi and onto Javon Evans. I
think he's earned that. I think the fans believe in him.
I'm not necessarily saying that in a street fight I
would buy it, but in the world of professional wrestling,
I think it's wonderful. Great for Javon Evans. He's really
done such a great master for work, from everything from
when he worked with Randy Orton through the triple threats
(07:58):
and all that stuff he's been through this year on
his quest to become NXT champion. It's fantastic work and
I'm so happy for him. I do also want to
state that the reason he gets this championship opportunities because
he defeated Trick Williams on NXT based on the interference
by Mike Santana, who was in the stands. Clearly, Mike
Santana is the one being positioned to be the guy
(08:19):
to take the championship off of Trick Williams. I think
that's a great move. I think they need to do
it sooner than later for a variety of reasons, one
none of the least of which is that Mike Santana's contract
in TNA will expire at the end of the year,
and if you're going to maximize your utility while he's there,
you gotta strike while the iron's hot. He is as
over as anybody right now in TNA, and he would
be a great ambassador carrying that championship for the company.
(08:41):
Dare I say better than Trick Williams, even though Trick
Williams probably brings more eyes to the prize. I don't
think if you are a TNA original fan or a
TNA die hard, you're loving Trick Williams being the figurehead champion.
I think you would love to see Mike Santana, especially
since he had a previous shit in TNA back in
the day when he was with lax Tonight. Look, the
results are out. If you don't want to know about this.
(09:03):
Skip ahead about two minutes. I'm gonna run through aw Dynamite.
The results are already in for the show that will
be on television tonight in the United States because they're overseas,
but it should be an interesting show tonight. When it
comes to what we're gonna see, I think, Okay, if
you haven't, if you're, if you don't, if you're, let's
go with the non spoiler version of what's about to happen.
(09:23):
We're going to see Tana Hashi team up with Jet
Speed against the Death Riders. To me, that is the
premium highlight opportunity of the evening. That's what I'm looking
forward to seeing now. Just because I have the spoilers
does not mean I've seen it. I have not, and
I'm looking forward to being able to see it. But
right now that is not the case. I'm not able
to see the actual matches. I gotta wait like everybody
(09:44):
else does. To Tonight's Dynamite. However, Tonight's show, Will Osprey
is going to be there. He's going to open the show.
He's gonna make it clear he hasn't been medically cleared,
which is why the Cage matches a lights out unsanctioned match.
He's going to get attacked. It's gonna bring out Tanahashi
and Jet Speed, which is what's gonna lead to the
tag team match. I'm not gonna tell you who wins,
because again I don't want to spoil everything. Just know
(10:05):
that that match is going to take place. At some point.
Gabe Kid is going to arrive to help out Moxley,
and he's gonna bring other talents from New Japan war
Dogs Drilla Maloney, Clark Connors, and Robbie X are all
gonna appear along with the Young Bucks to attack, which
is going to bring out Darby Allen, the Ops, Kyle
O'Reilly and Roderick Strong for the save. And I think
that's a beautiful way to incorporate a whole lot of talent,
(10:27):
And clearly that's setting the Ops up for a match
to be added to Forbidden Door. Christian Cage and Cope
are in the ring later on, they are going to
be confronted by their opponents and there's a very very
exciting change. Let's say to the match at Forbidden Door
where Nick Wayne is injured and will be replaced by
(10:48):
a returning Superstar. You watch tonight find out who that is.
I was surprised and thoroughly excited to see this person
coming back because we really didn't know if they were
ever going to come back to wrestling at all, not
just Aw's wrestling at all, and it's beautiful to know
that they are and they're healthy. So watch tonight see
who that is. FTR versus Brodido is gonna end in
a time limit draw, which is gonna lead to the
(11:08):
hurt Syndicett defending the Tag Team Championship this weekend in
a three way defense now against FTR Mbrodido Brodida really
getting over for a team that was kind of thrown
together for the purposes of a tournament, but I love
the pairing. I think it's fantastic. Hangman Page is gonna
have the segment of the night that I have no
interest in it at all. There's gonna be this whole
(11:29):
angle where they're holding Mark Briscow hostage, and it's gonna
lead to Hangman Page agreeing that the AW World Championship
can hate change hands on a disqualification and that Maxwell
Jacob Freeman does not have to cash in this Casino
Gauntlet contract to have the match that to me is
ridiculous over booking. You shouldn't have booked it that way
(11:50):
to begin with it. If you aren't gonna leave it that way,
this is ridiculous. I hate the angle. And of course
we're gonna get to see Mercedes Money and Athena take
on Tony Storm and Alex winsor again won't tell you
the result. Great match supposedly. Can't wait to see that
tonight myself. I hope you guys enjoy it. The show's
gonna be kicking off as I'm saying that the show's starting.
So once you're done listening to this, pop over there
and watch it in action. Let's get to the rest
(12:13):
of the news for the day, backstage details. All week,
people have been theorizing to Chris Jericho maybe headed back
to WWE at the end of twenty twenty five, and
there was reports saying that people in WWE were excited
at the prospect of him returning potentially into World Rumble.
Now we're getting word from people like Fightful select saying
it's far too early to tell a person an unnamed
(12:34):
person in WB saying that his name has not been
raised in Creative meetings at all, but also not being
brought up in AW creative meetings. So I'm not sure
where we stand with Chris Jericho. For those who don't know,
he liked a tweet the other day talking about his
contract expiring at the end of twenty twenty five and
potentially wanting to go back to WWE. Many people jumped
on board. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire, and it's
(12:56):
even on Busted Open Radio. They were talking about this
multiple days, how it would be a great opportunity for
Chris Jericho to reinvent himself again, something he does masterfully,
and if he goes back to AW he's gonna get
booed out of the building. I mean, they literally turned
his learning tree and his television segment time into a joke,
making fun of the fans who didn't want to see
him anymore. That was not you know, white heat. That
(13:17):
was go away heat. And if he's gonna go away
go back to WWE for a little while, it is
time to go to WE because he will get this
massive pop, especially if it's at the Royal Rumble WWE
has in the past for the last twenty some years.
Whenever he was there, they were willing to work around
his fazzi schedule. He would come in and out and
keep himself fresh. I think it's a great time. It's
been almost eight years since he's been there. Go back
to WWE, make an impact. He could always go back
(13:39):
to AW at the end of whatever relationship he puts
together with WWE. But as it is now, I don't
see that he brings as much value as he used
to to AW. Let's be honest. Chris Jerik will always
bring value to any brand, but you have to be
appreciative of what he does. Let's be honest. His Les
Champion period of AW time was magnificent. I even loved
the the Orange Cassidy feud ending with the Mimosa match.
(14:03):
I had no problem with his Ring of Honor Championship run.
I had no problem with the Jericho Appreciation Society. It
was very inventive, very all of his groups. People like
to make fun of his groups, with the exception of
the Learning Tree, which is the one that just took
it too far. When he was doing Jericho Appreciation Society,
when he was doing the Sex Gods, when he was
doing all his different factions all along the way in AW,
(14:25):
they've all gotten over. It's only in the last year
and a half or so that people soured on Chris
Jerago because it became too repetitive, you know, so at
some point it needed to move on, and I think
this is a good time for him to move back
to w W and do some things. Somebody who's maybe
not going back to w B carrying Cross and Scarlet.
They have been finally announced for the first independent wrestling
(14:46):
show since their we contracts expire. I hate that some
outlets are saying release. They weren't released, They just weren't renewed,
which is what happens with contracts. You know, people don't
lose their mind. If an NFL team doesn't resign a
player whose contract expires, they don't say that they released him.
They didn't his contract right now, they didn't have a deal.
So but they are announced for several cons but this
(15:06):
is an actual wrestling appearance. Wrestle Pro announced that they
are going to be having a show that they are
going to be calling, Uh was it Cross the Killer
Smoke Show, which is going to star Killer Cross and
Scarlett Bordeaux back in the ring in the wrestling capacity
word was people weren't booking them because they're asking price
was so high. Well, obviously somebody at some point was
going to take the chance and roll the dice and
(15:28):
book these two, and now they have, and they will
be the first ones to present them to people post WWE.
Does not mean they're not still going to go back
to w WE, but at this point, I think, especially
with the show being named after them, if they were
to resign now, I think part of the deal would
have to be that they could still do that show.
Otherwise WBE is just destroying any goodwill they have anywhere else.
And the last thing for this show, congratulations out to
(15:51):
Big Jim and Naomi on the announcement of their pregnancy.
If you do the math, she was pregnant for I
think they said seven weeks while she Evolution, while she
was at SummerSlam, she was pregnant. Did not know when
she found out that was the end of wrestling. She
was very very candid about her fertility journey that she's
(16:11):
been on. She when she was speaking to Stephanie McMahon.
When you go through that interview, she talks about having
to have one of her her her side taken out
and issues with her uterus and all this stuff, and
how she never thought she was gonna be able to
get to get pregnant. Now everybody's throlled from the Roman
Reigns putting out a beautiful a tribute to them announcing
their pregnancy, the two of them being just over the
(16:32):
moon happy, the fact that she has all the medical
concern she's had in the past. I was still able
to make it through those two pay per views and
all the build up and lead up. I loved her
promo on Raw, where she was just in character as
long as she could, but you could tell how emotional
she was getting because the people appreciate her so much,
so great congrats to her. Nothing but love for the character,
(16:53):
love that she got the opportunity be world champion before
she has the baby, and hopefully at some point she
will come back. And she was speaking truth and she said,
how women in the past, you got a baby, you're
pretty much done and that's not the case anymore. So
hopefully she'll have the baby, everything will be healthy, everybody
be happy, and she'll be able to get back to
the ring sooner than later. That's all the time we
have for this episode. Check back with us next episode,
where we run down the latest wrestling news and rumors.
