(00:17):
Hello, and welcome to doroun.Track to the podcast episode sixty If you
don't mind, oh when I'm sixthe boom boom, My name is Steve
and joining me for the sixtieth time, it appears Cameron Banfield. How's it
going mate? Good yousel? Oh? Yeah good? We'll just shake hands.
Is this a secret handshake? Butdid you wash your hands after your

(00:39):
weed? I did, actually do? I did did you soap? I
do you soap? I got thatfoaming soap. We didn't wash it in
the toilet bowl, did you?No? No, of course I used
I used the basin. Oh,the basin. It's been a long time.
How's it going basin instinct? Yeah? Good good. We haven't done
a podcast for a while, sowe apologized. Or it's been a minute,

(01:02):
it's been a minute. Yeah, nothing has been happening, though.
There was a bit of a delaybecause you went to the Gold delay.
I went to Tasmania in that time. Did you take a map? No?
No, I didn't take a map. It was waxed anyway. We
had a wax map, so ifyou dropped it in the water, it
wouldn't ruin. The wouldn't run themap. You wouldn't want the water would

(01:25):
just beat off it exactly, it'scoming off. Let's go again. So
we've had a lot of gigs andat that time, though, Steve,
I used to go to work topay the bills and everything like that.
But now I go to work topay for concert tickets tickets, Steve,
It's just so many freaking good gigsout there. I've had to start saying

(01:48):
no, Steve, and I ama people pleaser, so that is very,
very hard. It is very hardhard to get a no ou to
you, to be honest, no, no, no, But so many
gigs we've just but we've got alot of gigs coming up as well,
which we'll get to in a minute. But I just want to rattle off
some gigs to you right now.Do it. I'm talking Paul McCartney,
The Living End, Grinspoon, Jebbadiah, The Temper Trap. Oh yeah,

(02:17):
and and this week food Fighter FooFighters d Foo. I don't know what
that is. Was that was thatlike the Mortal Kombat theme but without Mortal
Combat. It was I can't rememberwhat song it is. It goes fuck

(02:37):
yeah right, I don't know, yeah, okay, dance song, Steve,
have no idea what we're talking aboutexactly. So where do you want
to start? The beginning is avery good place to start. Paul mac
Paul Mack, Paul McCartney, SirPaul, mother flipping McCartney. We went
there, didn't we, Steve. It was definitely there that we went,
and we saw three hours of aneighty one year old absolutely shredded up on

(03:01):
stage. Absolutely he killed it.He was shredded when he took his shirt
off. I was just like, dude, this I don't know. But
in all seriousness, Steve, thatguy's got charisma. Oh yeah, charisma
at the Wazu. He just literallyjust moves a certain way and the whole
crowd just goes off. He justdoes a little look, a little look

(03:22):
at everyone where he's just got themaround his little feet. I mean that
comes from six decades of just doinga little pose and having girls cream their
jeans. Like he knows what he'sdoing when he's up there, he knows
what he's got exactly. But asyou said, like he's eighty one years
old for three hours, like wehad, we both had seats. We're
sitting separately, but we have bothhad seats on the ground and there was

(03:43):
a lot of standing up, andthen it was just like, you know,
I'm going to sit out for aminute, and this an eighty one
year olds just strutting the stage thewhole time. It was no break exactly.
I mean, the only time I'dseen an eighty one year old that
active was at the Bingo Hall. But he was fucking he was active.
He was moving around up behind thepiano for a bit down the guitar still

(04:03):
got it, and you know,I was hoping you play blackbird singing.
He got up and did that, just him, an acoustic guitar, and
you could tell it was just fuckingawesome. Yeah, you tell he's getting
old. Oh but we aren't weall. I took my mum and my
auntie and they were dancing around likelittle school girls. It was so good

(04:25):
to see nice. It was goodfun. And I was dancing around like
a little school girl too. Iwas a bit further back than you.
I had the tight ass tickets thatwere still like one hundred and fifty bucks,
but towards the back, but stilljust everyone there, and that was
the thing. It was like Iwas sitting next to a couple of like
bros. And then next to themwere like this elderly couple, and then

(04:46):
there was this like grandmother and granddaughterwho was sort of sitting like next us
as well. There was just awhite There were children there, there were
the elderly and everyone in between fromall walks of life. And I mean,
of course, because it's a fuckinga it's a beatle, b it's
Paul McCartney. See he's got alot of fucking material. Oh. I

(05:06):
kept looking up there and going, fuck, that's a fucking beatle up there.
Yeah, that's that's like a reallife, in person beetle right now
that we're looking at. That's fuckingamazing. The closest experience I'd had so
that previously was a Birdie Beetle.Oh Bertie Beetles showbag absolutely free. Yes,

(05:27):
oh, Booty Beetles always the cheapest, but always the best. Two
dollars came free with the mega showbag. That's what the ad that I remember,
that's what and shut up. IAlso, we got there a bit
early, got our seats sitting down, and there was a lot of elderly
people around where I was, andI decided to call it a bit of

(05:47):
a printed up ticket convention. It'sone of the only things I've been to
for years where people are walking aroundwith their printed up ticket. Oh yeah,
no, no, well, Imean you were in the good section
as well. People probably had lenyardsup the front. Oh in front of
us they did. Oh yeah,we weren't. That was thousands and thousands

(06:08):
and thousands of dollars to get getright up there, Steve, is it?
You know? Well the seats thatwe had, like they ushered us
to our seats and then they spaton us, like that's that's how far
back we were. They were like, you don't even deserve to be here.
I still gave you one hundred andfifty bucks, like Jesus, but
it's a Beatles that was worth gettingspat on. You got a free warm

(06:29):
drink. We didn't get anything.Well I did have my mouth open at
the time anyway. So I mean, what was your highlight of the gig?
Was it Blackbird? Well, Ireally wanted that. I'd definitely say
that's a highlight. Another highlight wouldbe, aside from the music, would
be the stories. You come outwith a lot of really cool stories.

(06:50):
John Lennon and just the Beatles daysand the Quarrymen, even the quarum.
Yeah, that's right, and evenstuff like you know, he said,
I look out at the crowd andwe're playing a Beatles song and everyone's laugh
and, you know, singing along, having a good time, smiles on

(07:13):
their face, dancing around. Andthen I play one of the new songs
and it's just blank faces and justdead out there, and he goes,
but I don't care, he's anew song. I'm still going to play
him. You can tell he's stillhe still loves, absolutely loves what he's
doing. Absolutely. Yeah. Whatwas your favorite moment of Paul McCartney Get

(07:36):
back to Paul McCartney, Get backto twenty twenty three? Yeah, at
a Marvel Stadium, Marvel Melbourne.Yes, I would say either Live and
Let Die Victoria, Yeah, Nena skelter Helter that was pretty col too
well went off, Yeah, andLiving Let Die literally went off. There

(07:58):
was flames and yeah, fireworks andall sorts of shit going off. Would
it looks quite impressive As close youare, you probably feeling the heat.
You were that closer you could feelthe heat and singing you The screens were
probably the highlight because it's sort oflike chopped and changed real quick. Yeah,
in between like all the musicians andand what about his guitarists. Oh,

(08:20):
he looks like a halfway between you. I can't remember. He looks
like, yeah, halfway between ChristianBale and the leather wallet. Yeah,
he kind of he had that kindof he had that kind of batman swagger,
but also looked like he'd been stuckbehind someone's jeans for a long time.
I don't know. He looked abit worn out, but not as

(08:43):
worn out as drama. He fuckingmade me laugh so much. He was
very animated. And they come upand did like a little set and he
had like one of those little standup drum kits and he was doing the
dance moves. And I didn't catchhis name, but I didn't meet him
either, But yeah, he wasreally entertaining and it was good that Paul

(09:07):
would you know, he'd let someoneelse have a bit of the line.
You know, those guys have playedtogether for the best part of well over
twenty years. Yeah, so it'sall a bit of fun to them.
They just they just love playing. It's just a gig job. I'll tell
you what. Another gig though, can thy living end? Oh, I'm
wearing the T shirt music T shirtday. Yes today, yes, well

(09:31):
at time of recording, time ofrecording. Yeah, the Living end twenty
five year anniversary for their solo debutalbum, which is a game changer for
my music taste as a young bucktwelve year old ninety eight, Yes,
ninety eight at Hillsong Arena, Yeah, are pleas No, Yes, it

(09:58):
was good to be back in God'sChurch, which I haven't been there since
it's been a church and good tosee nothing's changed. They're still the same.
It's still the same worn out thewhole festival hall that it has been
since the seventies, but still agreat gig and once again diverse crowd.
Like there was a lot of peoplewho were probably our age now when The

(10:20):
Living In's debut album came out whowere still there, and then there were
people like us who were what likeyoung teens who are much older now,
twenty five years older in fact, who were you know, rocking out as
well, And then there were peoplewho were younger than us as well.
It just proves yet again, Steve, that the generation gap means the war

(10:41):
has never won exactly, but Imean it's it was good to see and
look, they put on one hellof a show. Oh fuck you fuck
they're good live, Like, yes, I reckon. I would have seen
him over twenty times over the years, and they're just so good live and
they're just like even better now.Yeah, I mean the amount of like

(11:05):
the chemistry is totally there, theamount of energy that they bring as well,
and how good was it to hearlike a lot of those songs that
probably haven't been played since the firstalbum came out. Yeah, well,
obviously they had a drama change afterthe second album. I was hoping their
original drama Trav who played on thatalbum, would come up and do a
song, but he didn't. ButI did hear he was in the crowd.

(11:28):
Yeah. I wish i'd have seenhim, but that would have been
cool. Yeah, I would say, hey, you want to rock out?
I don't know, but yeah, fuck they don't tire the whole gig
still rock out obviously played the wholealbum plus other hits from their other albums
and White Noise and what I'm sorryI mean this, I mean this is

(11:50):
just a there's maybe this is abug beer of mine and it happens with
all different bands rather Triple m Manthey flogged it. That's what happened.
There's like one song, right song, but it just gets overplayed. And
then I sort of realized I haven'theard that song in years because I'd always
sort of see it and be justlike, I don't want to listen to
that song because I've heard it amillion times. Sorry, Steve, can
you speak up a bit because allthat I'm hearing from you is white noise?

(12:13):
Jesus Christ, He'll song so yeah, but it happens with all bands,
like they'll just flog a certain songand then it's just like it kind
of gets tarnished for you, andthat for me was white noise. Yeah,
nah, fair enough, fair enough. But you know they played e
boogie, which is not on anyalbum. She's a live instrumental thing they

(12:37):
do, you know, like guitarsolo with the beer bottle and the sliding
and stuff and based Oh so fuckinggood, Steve. They're such good musicians
and they just play off each otherso well, and they do a bit
of call and response stuff with drumsand guitar. Love it. Can I
ask you again? The show?Oh highlights, it's boogie boogie. Yeah,

(13:03):
I know I said it before. But it's just so fucking cool.
Yeah it is. I love watchingjust because you're just watching three musicians just
rock out with the cock out andjust have a good time and fucking good
at their craft. Yeah. IfI had to pick a song, it
would be that. And also itkind of sounds might sound a bit offensive
bit closing in the instrumental song offthe self titled I Love Chris is singing.

(13:28):
I absolutely love it, but yeah, my two favorite moments were with
him not singing instrumentals. Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love he's
singing, but I don't know somethingabout it because he obviously can really take
a step back and he plays hisguitar to his fullest ability, and it's

(13:50):
it's just sounds so fucking good.Absolutely. Well, two nights later,
what was your high light, Steve? My highlight? Oh I care?
Okay, I'm glad you do.I just didn't really care for the gig.
No, of course I did.No, I would say probably uh
second solution, Oh yeah, Imean it's a good crowd obviously getting everyone

(14:16):
you know singing it at the end. Yeah, so it was a bit
of fun. But yeah, ofcourse, just watching them, but watch
it. I mean again, watchingthem jam out is what they do best.
What they do best is jam out. Two nights later though, fuck
ed mentioned though, just quickly,Steve, we know mosh pit etiquette.
Oh, we do, absolutely.Oh, and we're all old now and

(14:39):
we're happy to stand there and watchand and jump around and play, you
know. All right, there's oldschool mentality with his older blokes. And
there's this older crowd next to us, and me and Steve are standing and
join a nice beer. They've juststarted it, by the way, moderate
aunt back. Yeah, and thisguy just decides to start pushing and shoving

(15:03):
and you know, pushed into Steve, into me, and then our beers
went everywhere and were soaked. Andand that's fine. I understand punk gigs
that that happens and stuff, butyou're a dickhead because you just don't do
that. Was there was no therewas no going around us, there's nothing.
It was just it was just like, out of the blue, he

(15:24):
just started throwing his hands in theair. Yeah, and I'm all for
it if that's what you want todo, but don't be a fuck with
about it. No, absolutely,And you threw him to the ground and
then you got up and yeah, yeah, and then and then he didn't
stand near me anymore. Yeah, and then that was the other funny thing,
Steve. There was like a groupof say five, and one of
them had like a big mohawk andstuff. You know, they're probably late

(15:48):
forties, I'd say, yeah,so sort of like to me, it
sounded like they're proving that, yeah, we're still young, we're still punk
with this is how you do it. If you don't like it, fuck
off kind of thing. Yeah.Fuck the whole crowd. Halfway through the
set, they were dead quiet, because you'd tell they're absolutely fucking wrecked,
and we were wrecked, and wewere just standing watching, were just stand

(16:11):
although that was you and some randomshit kept double daring me to jump into
circle pits. Oh yeah, Iforgot about because I was like, we
attract them, we do. AndI'm like just standing there and You're like
going to the circle pit and I'mlike, no, I can't. And
then she's just like, god,go in this circle pit. I'm like,

(16:33):
oh, now there's fucking two ofyou. Well, she has a
vagina. I've got to say yesexactly. So I did, and then
I ran in and I come outlike a sweaty mess and she didn't want
to fuck me. I don't knowwhat happened. It didn't matter good a
girlfriend anyway, but still I waslike, it's the principle of the thing.
Why don't you go in there? And she's like nah, yeah.
It was like what the yeah?Anyway, Two nights later we went to

(16:57):
see Grinspoon at the Forea. Ah, my lord Steve. And not only
did we see Greenspoon, they playedtwo of their albums, Easy and New
Detention. It was the Easy Attentionto her. I thought, you almost
forgot to mention the New Detention.Ah, you had me there. Camp
They opened, of course with anyDay Anyhow, which has the opening line

(17:19):
forgot to mention, and that wasIt was an awesome gig though, man
oh fuck yeah. And the Forumagain said it before, say it again,
fucking brilliant. It was When didwe see them last time at the
Forum? That was for their twenties. That was their Chemical Heart's Greatest Hits
tour. Oh that was the greatesthits. Yeah. So that was Fireworks

(17:41):
and Ship never Yeah they had fireworksand shit again this time. Yeah,
that's what they just do, Fireworksand ship. But I'll tell you,
because we went with another friend ofmine, Zomboor, and he was going
who introduced me to Grinspoon, andhe I just remember because they were playing

(18:02):
tracks from like Easy and New Attention, like album tracks as well that they
wouldn't have played in probably twenty years. And I remember they just started playing
like a song like Tang. Andthen I remember looking over at Zomble and
he had this big beaming smile.Remember they started playing Tang. I'm like,
fucking expect this, no, Andand then I just remember looking at
him. I was like, fuck, this is cool. Zomble has got

(18:26):
this massive beaming ground on his gadthand I'm like, I couldn't help it.
Just give me a little tap onthe ass. I was just like,
you're enjoying yourself. It's just likeI was like, this is fun,
isn't it. We're all having fun. But and then of course they
ended with a few of their olderhits as well. They played some Justices
to Pay of course, because it'sall over it. But again Forum Grinspoon

(18:48):
Fun Times, what was your favoritepart? We've a many last control singing.
I came into the lost can't trol, Yes, I mean, how
could you not you controls in thecrowd. They were there were but I

(19:08):
mean again, it's just because we'regetting older. It's just because we getting
older and we attract these kind ofpeople. Are the trolls dolls that?
Anyway, Then two nights later andthat was a stacked week exactly, But
we headed to the SB to seeJebba Dyah because we had to leave home

(19:33):
to get there, of course, because they didn't come to our home to
play, because we're not animals.Anyway, if I had missed that gig,
Steve, it would have been likea harpoon in my heart. Absolutely,
geez, you're pulling them all out. But of course they It was
the gum Up the Bearing stool fortheir latest single, Gum Up the Bearings.
They've now released another single called rubberMan, and it's more of a

(19:56):
like a chilled sort of. It'smore chilled for Jebbadiah. It is chilling.
Yeah, it could have been BobEvans sort of. It could have
been a Bobby. It could havebeen a Bobby b side. Yeah,
Bobby Bobby. Because they've announced thattheir new albums is going to come out,
Can you stop? I can't concentrateryit had to come out. The
silly are going to come out,So silly still have to come out.

(20:17):
And it's the only place on thelatter socially acceptably do it. And it's
right in my ear. So JEBBEDI. I have got their new album called
Oiks which is coming out on Apriltwelfth, featuring the new song rubber Man
and of course come up the bearingswhich I open with, I mean,
Jebediah Man, what does OS mean? Well, it's it's like I don't
know, likes the sound when amidget jumps into the water. I don't

(20:41):
know, it's oks. I've neverI don't know. We might have to
interview the band and ask themselves.Yeah, yet against they've always put on
I reckon Jevitized, one of theones that we've probably seen a couple of
times together. Yeah fair a fewtimes over the years. And yet again
don't disappoint, never do Australian live, Western Australian band. And they got

(21:03):
inducted into the West Australian Music Hallof Fame. They did. Yes,
I was wondering if that was goingto happen. Well, they did Gyroscope
next, please could be Qulby. They might just skip them and go straight
to Taman Parlor Carnival. There's somany Bob Evans, there's so many Kevin
Mitchell. In fact, you know, there's too many good wa bands.

(21:25):
They should probably color a few ofthem. Yeah, just get rid of
a couple or at least make WesternAustralia part of Australia. I mean,
how difficult could it be? Therewas another gig that you went to just
last night? Can just last night? Yeah? The Temper Trap Yes,
please indulge me in my ears aboutyour thoughts on the Temper Traps gig in

(21:48):
Frankston. Well, first of all, it's the first time I've ever seen
them live. Oh, Danny andI have loved them since two thousand and
five. That's where and we gottogether. We actually had Sweet Disposition played
is the song we played after ourwedding we got married, So it's a

(22:08):
very it's a special song for us. But to see him live like I've
seen him at the on TV atthe Grand Final. They played that Mushroom
fifty thing the other night and theywere good on that, but seeing them
in person was just next level.Such a good live band, such a
great voice, and it's good tosee a band get out there and rock

(22:33):
out as well and just jam likethey play their songs obviously, but they'll
go off and jam for like fiveten minutes and it just goes off like
the dramma will be just like goingoff and then the single will start playing
drums next to him and stuff. And for what you know, they they

(22:56):
are pretty you know, they're notlike a real loud thrashy band, but
for a chill out band, funthat can rock out. Yeah. Yeah,
so it was so good. Weloved it, had a good dance,
you had a beer, and yeah, we loved it. Absolutely.
You should have come. Well,I didn't get the invite. I didn't

(23:18):
get the invite to come to yourass, and I have a bit of
fair warning. Maybe I could have. Speaking of which, by the way,
so I just want to divert fora second. So it was it
work the other week, right, because it's been a while since our last
episode, isn't it weird? You'vegot to go to work, like you
you went for this job how longago? Two years? Two years ago?
You got the job, right, yeah, and you're still got to

(23:41):
You got to go back five daysa week. You've got to keep going
well, and they said that they'regoing to stop paying me if I don't
keep going. My boss listens tothe podcast, we should probably have a
word to him about that. Stevedeserves okay, number one, Steve deserves
more holidays. I do need moreholidays, more annual leave than the average
Joe because he's I'm not an averageJoe. He's not an average joke.

(24:03):
That is just an average steffan you, and that's definitely worth more. He
needs to have more leave. Leavewould be great. I need, I
need to breathe. No, doubletime should be double time absolutely for leave
speaking of and I get some morepay more pain and it should be at

(24:26):
least triple the dollar amount per hour. Yeah, at least Well, I
don't want to pay cart No,you don't want to pay want to If
anything, just cut all the uselesscunts and give Steve them your money the
money. Then there wouldn't be anyonethere. That's what I'm saying to all
of my colleagues who also listen tothe show. But that's what I'm getting
at, right. So someone mentionedthe show and said to this girl,

(24:52):
Carly, Hello, Carly, ifyou're listening, car Carly, how's it
going on your car? So someonehad a hairdresser named Carly. Did you
when I was a Yeah, boldcut, bowl cut. Yeah, I'll
ask Carlie at work if she's goodat a bowl cut, and if I
don't have enough hair to get abowl cut, but if she could do
it, you could ask, Well, if she can, I'll grow my
hair longer and she can give mea bowl cut. You heard it,

(25:15):
you said, yes, Sorry,Carly, it has to happen now.
So anyway, so this was acouple of weeks ago, and I'd forgotten.
It had been so long since wedid the last podcast. It's been
so long, Steve, you keepblowing me off. Well, I thought
that that was something that we didnow own spare time. It doesn't matter,
that's a different podcast exactly. Soshe listened to the last episode I'd

(25:38):
forgotten. In that episode, wetalked about a doctor given me an impromptute
Oh yeah, check the melmn ingerup the dinner. Yeah. And so
anyway, I told you that urinetest for that. Yeah, okay,
So the doctor wanted instantaneous. Hewanted to know the results straight away,

(26:00):
the easiest way to do that,So fair enough, that's how it happened.
She comes into word the next dayhaving listened to it, right,
and I was just like, oh, hey, Carly, how's it going.
And she looked at me like Iwas someone who'd had a finger up
the ass, and it was likethat look, yeah, but not your
own. It was it was likeit was the strangers. And she was

(26:22):
like, and I'm like, oh, I forgot that. We talked about
that, and now I think youthink that I'm a creep. I'm not.
I'm not much of it. Creep, maybe a smitch. But anyway,
enough about that. I think theconcerning part was, is you you
beg the doctor? Well, thatwas the thing, Like He's just like,
well, we can just do aurine test. I'm like, I'd

(26:45):
rather you find out straight away.I want you to know now exactly.
I'll only take a date. No, no, no, I want to
know now, no no, now, I want to know at the same
time, just to be doubly sure. Anyway, enough about that. We're
sorry, Carly, and to everyoneelse and everyone else if you're listening listening,

(27:07):
you know, most of what wesay is just it's just a joke,
and we just absolutely just none ofthat ever happened. Never, Steve
has never even seen a doctor. It's actually quite the opposite. He's it's
quite concerning. I got around todoctor surgeries and stick my finger up there.
That's that's what I actually do.Not again again. I'm very speedy

(27:30):
about it too. I just likezip in, zip out, and then
what happened? It's Steve again.I'll get you next time. I'm sure
you will. Anyway, your localdoctors have to wear fucking chastity belts there
exactly. That's why my fingers socrooked. I got it stuck in the
lock anyway, doesn't matter. Ohmy brother locked his of the week as
well. There was that. Ohyeah, he's just like got a bit

(27:53):
up close and personal with a witha circular saw. And now he's got
an elbow for a finger, andhe does they took part of he's part
of his arm put on the endof his finger. Sorry, Daniel,
I hope you're okay. So hehad this cone thing on his finger,
right, this plastic cone right, like a dog wears a cone so he
doesn't lick his ass after getting lickhis balls after getting them chopped off,

(28:14):
exactly, except he fell asleep withhis finger out of the bed. The
thing came up. Maybe that's whatyou need, so you don't finger doctors
anymore. This will stop him.Good old cone Man, come together with
your hands, cone Man. Sorry, Steve, I will let you finish.

(28:36):
That's all right, at least someonearound here in this house does anyway.
No, no, that's not gettingany further. You gotta snip that
up and send it to your missus. Exactly. So. Anyway, brother's
fallen asleep, his fingers had thecup's fallen off, and he's woken up
with his dog licking his infected fingers. It's just like something something for it

(29:00):
was off and it's the dog lickingthe finger and he had to go back.
It wasn't It wasn't a pretty picture. Oh yes, it licked the
skin off. Yeah, dog's deadnow really no, the dogs the dog's
fine. Did end up wearing thecarne though, exactly. Well, yeah,
well he needed something. Where werewe going, Oh yeah, we're

(29:22):
talking about foo fighters coming up.Oh my lord, Steve, I'm getting
emotional. Oh, I mean, this is the first time in Australia since
the passing of Taylor Hawkins, sincethe last the last time we saw them
and they opened up music to Australia. So we went to that Steve.
That was amazing. That was welcomefucking back to music. We are rocking

(29:47):
out and there wasn't a dry eyein that stadium. No, that was
March twenty twenty two, the firstgig, so that's almost two years ago.
Four months. Yes, it's gonetwig and they've least new album since
then. They're going to New Dramaexactly, so they're going to be coming
to be the same without our itprobably won't as much as we respect Josh

(30:10):
Free, mister Freese, mister Freeto Nate Forecast coming. Oh yeah,
it'll still be awesome though, It'llstill be awes absolutely. So. They
played Perth, they just opened up. There was a big success over there.
They bringing us to the rest ofthe country, playing two shows in
Melbourne and then they're heading off toNew Zealand as well. It's it's I

(30:33):
mean, they're just an awesome life. So I'm really looking forward to that.
I honestly didn't expect to see himagain for some reason. I thought
after Taylor died, I didn't thinkthat they would do anything again. So
I'm grateful for this. So Ithink it's going to be awesome. And
obviously they're they're killing it. They'regoing to Yeah, they're going to,

(30:53):
like you said, go on andtour. Speaking of going on touring,
just just circling back to Paul McCartney. Yes, I was looking at Oh
fuck. I really wanted to seehim again, and I was going to
go to Queensland. He went toQueensland and he was playing. When we're
there, I'm like, maybe Ishould go again, stuff like this,
and I looked he's playing, youknow, the rest of Australia, and

(31:14):
then he was going to I thinkSouth America, and he's playing all the
way up to the end of theyear and then gigs next year. He
doesn't stop. No, it's notlike he does Australia and go all right,
that's enough money for the great grandkids. I'll I'll go back and
have some tea in London now orsomething. You know. He keeps going.
That's it. He just doesn't stop. Because the thing is, it's

(31:34):
like it had been a while sincehe'd come to Australia, but he'd done
multiple tours in like the States andEurope between gigs in Australia and then there's
obviously COVID and he started up again. Exactly. It's he's one of those
he can't stop. I reckon he'llbe he'll probably die on stage. Yeah,
A lot oft times it looked likehe had when he started the gig.

(31:56):
I was like, shit, Idon't know, he looked a bit
proper to begin it just me ordidn't like a black Beds singing there for
fuck man, I'm over this ship. Yeah, I know what you mean.
But he's eighty one. But heholds himself very He's got great posture.
Yeah, you know you can stillhear his voice sort of go a
little bit at times, but stillyeah, still hold the notes and sing

(32:22):
and stuff. So I say gofor it. Yeah, oh absolutely,
you're a Beatle fucking just roll withit, exactly, let me roll it.
Actually, speaking of the Beatles,we did do our Beatles' Greatest Song
competition Instagram and for people who weren'tpaying attention, who won? I mean

(32:42):
what song? Wond you can allflat up? You come up slowly?
You are boho? You got holyLucy said, I know you, you

(33:04):
know me, it's me got tobe good. Look because his name is
fucked Steve come together. Yes,no, absolutely, yes, No,
it's a look. I just feelsorry for our listeners. Come together,
did finish ahead of let it bein the final and he comes to son

(33:28):
came in at number three. Fewsurprises in there, had a few people
like I didn't expect this to bethe way it went, but that's the
way it went. Yeah, No, it's and I'll still get people coming
up and saying, I love doingthose votes. It's so much fun.
So I'll probably do a few more, Maybe do a few more band centric
ones, because we hadn't done onefor like a specific band and their back

(33:49):
catalog before. Yes, maybe inthe new year, we'll do a few
more with a few different bands.Do one for next week. We could
do it next week, I cangive You've got one week. Stay jesus,
I got a pack. I'm like, I'm heading off to the States
in like nine days. I'm fuckingoff. I wasn't at that time.

(34:14):
I'm so fucking pumped for Steve. Can we tell everyone were pretty much already
mentioned because you last time we didknow Steve's sphere old and he was born
boring on your going to see YouTube. I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm I don't know if I'm goingto cry or jizz or both. There's

(34:35):
going to be a very emotional scenethere. Oh my god, I just
remembered I had a dream the othernight. Yeah, after you just mentioned
you're going to cry, and jeezna, I had a dream with a dream
of me crying and in your house. Well you would if you were.
You weren't in this dream, butokay. Anyway, I was at the
Sphere. Yeah. I'm like,I don't know why I was there.

(34:58):
It was cool, and I wassort of hate you too. I was
side stage and you two were there, yeah, and I'm like, oh,
that's Bono and the Edge because Idon't know who the other two can't
say drummer at the moment's not eventheir real drummer. Oh really yeah,
he had sold of surgery, sowe can't play like a to an half
hour gigs. They've got like someyoung Dutch guy. Anyway, your dream,

(35:20):
Yeah, and for some reason Iwas side stage with you two and
I'm like, got my arm aroundBono and like it was like he wanted
me to be there. I don'tknow why. And we were getting photos
and stuff and I don't remember anythingelse. Of the dream. But that
was it. That's that's quite oddbecause maybe it's a premonition that it's you.
Maybe you find yourself side of sidestage they want to take photos with

(35:44):
me. Ye's yeah, it wascasual. Oh my god, it's Steve.
Steve's come all the way just tosee this. Well, that is
true. Some recognition would be good. Where's the other little weird one,
you know, the other guy withthe glasses, the edge old cam.

(36:05):
I thought you were being me talkingto Bono saying where's the other weird made
confusing? Didn't Yeah you did,but it was actually Bono talking to me
saying where's the weird one? Meaningyou? Okay, well now it all
makes sense. I once had areally weird dream, a really weird dream
one you have wheels feet. Sothis was like a year ago. I
had this dream. It's really fuckingweird. I was at like the Olympics,

(36:29):
right, and but I kind oflike it was like the archery,
right, and I yeah, thearchery, and I just sort of like
just walked onto the ground and juststarted just picked up a bowl and arrow
and just started and I was reallyfucking good. And I just bull's eyes
after bulls eyes. Anyway, Itook my shoes off. I don't know
why, and then I just startedwalking around and there was just bulls eyes

(36:51):
popping up left, right and center, and I was fucking bang there,
fucking bang there. Anyway, Isort of just walk off with my bow
and hand, like they haven't evendone the medal ceremony. They don't even
need to because I'm so far aheadin the points. I've just walked off,
right, I'm walking around and whodo I bump into Dave Girl and
I'm just like really, I'm like, Dave, have you seen my shoes?
I put him down somewhere and Ican't find him. So Dave Girl's

(37:14):
helping me find my shoes. We'rewalking around and he's like, Steve,
I don't know what song I shouldplay at the closing ceremony. I'm like,
I'm like, look, if itwas me, like i'd be like,
you know, dude, fucking watershedor something like some B sides that
are like really fucking cool. I'mlike, but it's not about me.

(37:34):
It's about the crowd. Everlong. You gotta just do everlong, like like,
I know, I know it's yourbiggest song, but they're all sporting
heroes I should have. I'm gonnahave to have that dream again, I
sued up dream Steve. Yeah, that's that's on me that way. But
I was just like, now, look, the people want to hear everlong
you should play everlong. And He'sjust like, you're right, you're right.

(37:57):
Are they your shoes over there? No? No they're not, but
thank you for helping anyway, Andother people had shoes after tell you what
I mean. I presume I wasn'tthe only dumb funck doing well. I
think in the living quarters there wasan outbreak of athletes foots. So we
need to air that shit out abit. Oh god, yeah, okay,

(38:20):
Well, I mean where do wego from there? I don't know
what's what's what's more weird your dreamor what happens in your real life with
doctors? Good point. I don'tknow. We'll have to ask Karli to
sort of decide which one's worst.I have a feeling I know which size
she's going to come down on.Remember bowl cut, bold cut, not

(38:40):
bold cut? No no, no, no no no, that's if the
doctor gets a bit too serious. But anyway, I guess this week we're
coming to the end of anything elseand we want to sort of talk about
I mean, this is the lastepisode for the year because I'm not coming
back till next year, so Iguess this is it for twenty twenty.
I do have to ask you, though, what has been your album of

(39:02):
the year putting you on the motherflipping spot. Let's just say that my
local supermarket is constantly, constantly outof ovaltine. Don't know. Listen to
the new Blink on eight two albumone More Time. Not that's the name

(39:25):
of the album, don't listen toit one more Time, but that album
is fucking brilliant, Steve. Ilove it for so many reasons. I
know I've banged on about it before, but yeah, I love it.
So that's definitely my album of theyear. Favorite songs on it would be
well one More Time that was atear jerk when it first come out,

(39:49):
Turpentine, Turpentine, Turpine, StickyDick, and Ovaltine, So yeah,
check it out, check it out. I love Childhood at the end.
I think that's a great progress forthem. But yeah, without banging on
too much, Steve, I wouldlike to know what your favorite album of
twenty twenty three from January first upuntil today's date whichever. You may listen

(40:17):
to it on O was music tShirt Day November thirtieth. Yes, so
just putting out there that you maymiss one if there's one in the next
month. Yeah, I don't wantto make it awkward and boring, of
course. No. No, it'sa good thing that you've wrapped it up
into such a succinct little package.I would say it's between DZ Deathrays thoughts

(40:42):
a rith remember it's for fun orQueens of the Stone Age because yeah.
Also another gig, they're coming toAustralia in February, so that's another ticket
that I've just bought, as wellas Blink one a two in February as
well. When normally like oh we'regoing to this gime, We're going to
this king, it's like, fuck, we're going to this gig. As

(41:04):
much as we love going to thegigs, killing us at the moment,
but hey, that's life, that'sthe recession that we live in. What
is the name of their album,It's called In Times New Roman. But
I guess that that brings the showto it to a close. Yeah,
I suppose I'd like to say thankseveryone for this year. It's been a
very very busy year. Oh busyin our personal lives, work lives,

(41:29):
everything like that. So we've donethe podcast as best we can when we
can, which is not a lot, and we're goin to go. Thanks
for sticking byas and also Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Yeah, Merry
Christmas, Happy New Year. It'sgoing to be fun. Look forward to
next year. Oh yeah, we'llbe able to talk about the food fighters
Gek exactly exactly, and Paul McCartneyand the new Blink album and the New

(41:53):
Blink tour, and then our Queensof the Stone Age are coming, by
the way, and so am I. So until then we have to go
because I've got work in the morningand I need you to fuck on.
I like that. There's this newparty poster. You know, you have

(42:14):
people over for a party, andthen you got like the streamers out and
stuff, and then the party postersays please leave by nine. That's brilliant.
It's a bit late for me.I love having you guys over,
but funk off exactly. Baby needshis beauty sleep. We need our beauty
sleep, don't we sleep. Weneed every I can get every second,

(42:37):
my girlfriend took a photo of mefrom above while I was holding a Tasmanian
devil in tazzy. I was justlike, oh, you know the tazzy
devil. That was pretty cool, man, I'm ol tazzy devil, right,
that's awesome. Was it drugged orbuyer? It was just very very
sleepy. Maybe it was drugged.I don't know. The guy. So
the guy went into the hatch andhe said that there's four tazzy devils in
here, but one of them isreally calm, and I'll get that one

(42:59):
out. And so we pull thisone out and he's holding it and it's
gone. I think I got thewrong one and put it back, and
he's just like, here's Jeff, and just put it in my arms.
I'm just like, it's just thecool one. And then he's just not
going to bite me. He's notgonna buy it, and and Jeff was
just like, fucking peace, man, I just had his fair share of
valtine exactly. Soon, It's justlike I'm stroking a fucking dazzy devil.

(43:21):
I'm like, this is kind ofcool. And then so my girlfriend's taken
about and I'm sitting down and shestood up taking and my god, the
bald patch I did not know thatI had. It's ridiculous. I think
next year I'm going to have togo full skinhead. It's going to happen
at some point. And also, the funny thing is, Steve, I
didn't know that you had that baldpatch here because I'm substantially short, so

(43:42):
I've never seen it. Yeah,I know, but it's it's it's not
great. I mean, I'm gettingI'm waiting for a text from my mum
on New Year's Day to say, next year you'll be forty. Oh yeah,
yeah, well we're pushing forty Steve. I know, I know,
and you're old me, but you'veat least kept your hair so receding a
bit thin and thinning. Yeah,I was receding when I was like fifteen

(44:06):
those so that's like, you know, you've still got plenty of time on
you. You can say you justsay to people, just say I've got
blue hair, blue hair, andjust say that to people when just because
it blew off Jesus Christ, Idon't know. But you know, if
I were a skivy, I looklike a broken condom. Anyway. That's
that's the end. Of this week'sand this year's podcast. Thank you very

(44:30):

Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
