(00:19):
Hi, everyone's Steve here from theGarage Rock Podcast. Now, this is
a bit of a strange start toour regular podcast, but it seems that
there's been a technical issue in thefirst thirty seconds of the show, so
the audio is actually missing. Youdidn't really miss much, it's just the
usual bullshit between myself and Cam,but it is missing. So just letting

(00:41):
you know. We were about totalk about our Garage Rock Greatest Songs competition,
which was about the Red Hot ChiliPeppers, So we're going to hear
that now and then carry on withthe rest of the episode. So sorry
about that. But here we gowith episode sixty three. So we recently
did yeah, Red Hot Chili Peppersunder the bridge one downtown where we some
drew some blood, drew some blood. Yeah, did you go there with

(01:03):
the crayolas or some durwans some duranceto draw the partie mouse. The other
day it was like I had acrayole up stop which what was the color
of the crayola? Was it wasa blood red? Was it fire engine
red? Was it remember those onesthat were like rainbow all different colors?
Was that what was coming out ofyou? Like a unicorn ship? Just

(01:27):
coming out of you. We reallyhave hit the sillies early. Yes,
and usually when we hit the sillieswe just wrap up the show. So
thank you for everyone listening from here. But we've got a few things to
talk about. There's been a fewthings going on there has it's been a

(01:48):
while? Shall I rattle off thetable of contents, Steve, I would
be hurt if you didn't. Okay, Well, I mean we're going to
talk about you went to a festivallook look out look festival look and what
did you see? Bands? People, We're going to talk about a few
Brittany beers. And we're also therewas also record store Day recently, which

(02:12):
was April twentieth, got myself afew records for that. We'll talk about
that in a little bit. Iheard a story about that. Do you
used to find out that? Imean, it's not really a story,
but it's just what it did. It's just what I did. And then
we're also going to talk about thePandemonium festival. Oh, and what an
absolute shit show that has been.Yeah. I feel for the organized,
I feel for the bands, andI feel for the patrons. But you

(02:35):
know what, there's a lot offeelings going on. There's a lot of
feelings, but thoughts and feelings aren'talways facts, Steve, that you're right
before. We shall not react tothem. We just have to see them
as they are now. It isweird to think we are in strange times
when it comes to music festivals atthe moment, don't we see absolutely?
I mean, just look at Imean, Splendor in the Grass was announced

(03:00):
and then two weeks later in thecanceled and I was reading an article recently
ranked Australia's biggest festivals over time, and the number one festival was Big Day
Out. I mean, that's nothingwe'll ever beat. It will stay nineteen
ninety two to two thy and thirteenfourteen, it was fourteen fourteen, we

(03:22):
had Belgium in twenty fourteen. It'sbeen gone for ten years. And then
the next on the list was Splendorin the Grass because that's been going for
years and it's always had massive lineupsas well. And I mean Kylie Minogue
was going to be headlining it thisyear, which I thought was a bit
odd. It's a bit odd.Well, we've said at time and time
again, Steve, your festival isall your lineup, it's your lineup absolutely

(03:46):
and just go. Just circling backa little bit to the last ever Big
day out. Remember when we youknow, backstage, backstage we were worthy
interviews and somewhat so we had anabsolute ball that. But remember we interviewed
Matt from the nineteen seventy five Wedid well. I told my daughter that

(04:08):
because she, you know, Ifelt a bit a bit special because he
dated Taylor Swift for a bit andshe's a massive Swifty fan someone. Yeah,
I interviewed him back in the day, back in the day. Yeah,
Me and Matt were like, yeah, I mean they just write good
songs as fun. So Matte, what's what's the secret to you know,

(04:30):
getting on the big day out?First we were in Australia, write good
songs, I spose, yeah, anyway, But it is, I mean,
we are in a bit of crisiswhen it comes to the music festivals.
I mean every week there seems tobe an article about another music festival
being canceled. I mean, thisis I mean, this is the kind

(04:53):
of climate we're living in. Likefinancially, it's it's hard to get artists
to come over here. It isa big distance, an expensive world.
At the moment, there's going tobe a bit of leveling out before it,
you know, gets back, butalso the same thing. In order
to do that, then the pricegets passed on to the consumers and it's
a cost of living crisis at themoment all over the world. Australia is

(05:15):
not immune to that either. Sothere's there's a lot of costs. And
like I mean the Pandemonium Festival we'retalking it was like around two hundred and
fifty bucks, or you could geta VIP ticket for eight hundred dollars.
Really it was eight hundred. Yeah, so there was I don't even know,
I going with the VP. Idon't think got your meet and greet
with the promoter or something. Idon't know. It was got you a

(05:38):
couple of beers or something. Maybethere was probably a lanyard. There's always
a lanyard. There's always a laniardand a stubby holder, Yeah, stubby
holder. But it might have beenawesome, Steve, I don't know.
They might have been you know,it might have been awesome. I don't
know. Hm. That's the thingthough, So I mean, for those
who don't know the Panemoni in festivbecause it's it's happening at the moment.
They just had the Melbourne Show. And one of the first things that happened

(06:00):
with the festival was it was goingto be held It still is being held
on Anzac Day in Sydney, butthey were going to hold it in Centennial
Park, which is in the middleof the city. And then the premiere,
like the day after it was announcedwas like, no, you're not
holding a rock concert in the middleof Sydney on Anzac Day, Like we've
got parades, it's Anzac Day,and so they had to like immediately find

(06:24):
another place to hold the festival. And so that was the get go.
And then a couple of months later, like they were selling you know,
buy one, get one free ticketson Valentine's Day, and then on like
Saint Patrick's Day, like they werejust trying to get rid of tickets.
No one was buying them. Andthen there was a Channel nine reporting on
the Gold Coast saying the festival hasbeen canceled, and so all these people

(06:46):
were like fuman because they hadn't heardanything. And then the promoters were like,
no, no, no, ithasn't been canceled. Well, we'll
get back to you after Easter, and it was like, okay, so
what the fuck's going on? Andthen they came back and they've stripped half
bands off and they're like, insteadof being two stages, it's just one.
So what we're doing is we're takingseventy dollars off the ticket price and

(07:08):
you can either use that to givesomeone a free ticket, or you can
get one hundred dollars hoodie for youknow, your seventy dollars, or you
can get your seventy bucks back, but no full refunds. So yeah,
if you wanted to see one ofthe bands that have been taken off.
For me personally, I wanted togo just to see Placebo, but I

(07:30):
thought, if they're the only bandon the lineup I want to see,
I'm not going to pay two hundredand fifty bucks to see a festival set.
I can see what they've done. They've tried their best to keep it
going, and good on them forgiving it a good go. But I
think moving forward it will be morefestivals like that like Lookout Yes that I
went to a couple of weeks agodown in Mornington. That was brilliant because

(07:55):
it's one stage. Yep, that'sfive bands and it's you know, it's
all night, it's just one bandafter the other. Great lineup. I'm
pretty sure it was sold out.It was packed, it was really well
set up, lineup, line upfor drinks or food, was easy going.

(08:16):
They're very well prepared. I thinkthat kind of thing micro festivals,
Yeah, micro festivals if you will. I think the multi stage thing,
unless it's a good things where it'sgoing to be, you know, great
lineups like your skipped seeing your cornand your corn on the cob food trucks.
Yes, yeah, I think that'sthat's the way it should go moving

(08:39):
forward. And you know, fiveartists easier to to manage, manage one
stage, easier to manage. It'sone sound ten, it's one of everything,
and I think that's just easier andand it's be cheaper for the patrons.
Well from it was struggling at themoment. Of course, they're all

(09:01):
music love as anyone who loves music. Struggling. Yeah, Well, from
all reports, the Panemonium Festival wentpretty well. In the Melbourne show,
I mean it was cut back toAlice Cooper, Blondie, Psychedelic Furs,
wolf Mother and Wheat, So therewas a few interesting bands on the bill
there. I would have liked tohave gone. If I was busy,

(09:22):
I couldn't go, Steve, what'syour excuse? I just didn't want to
goat I mean Alice Cooper. Yeah, it's it's just didn't interest me.
I'm sorry. I mean Alic Scoophas got a few good songs. I've
never really been a fan of Blondie, to be completely honest, and I
wanted to see place Ebo and they'vecome out and said, look, we're

(09:43):
not doing the festival anymore, butwe will work out to do an Australian
tour at some point, and I'mlike, perfect, I much prefer that.
So because their last album absolutely awesome. I love that. Never Let
Me Go is It's an awesome album. Highly recommend. You know, Blondie
was the first person I overheard somebodytalk like a sexual slur about when I

(10:09):
was a kid, really and whatwas the sexual slur about Blondie? I
don't know. I was probably likeeight or something, maybe younger, I
can't remember. And my grandpa wasover and we had was someone's birthday and
you know, having dinner or something, and afterwards he was sitting down watching
the TV and there's blondie Debora Harryon the TV and he said, well,

(10:31):
a load of those tits shit, get a load of those tits shit
a bit of it. After I'mlike, I didn't really understand what he
was talking about, but I meannow I do. Yeah, you know,
I'm in my thirties and I getit now. Yeah. Absolutely.

(10:52):
I mean you're probably at the ageof eight thinking, yeah, I could
go some milk. Yeah delicious. But we are going to talk about the
Out festival. You look look out. It was Live Incubus, Eskimo Joe,
Super Jesus and the Birds of Tokyo. Yeah, so Super Jesus coming
out first started out the day itwas still daylight. Like you know that

(11:16):
feeling, Steve, that feeling whenyou're rocking up to a festival and you
can hear the music start you come. You're in the line coming in and
you're like, oh, this isit. This is why we come to
these things. And Sarah MacLeod,a friend of Garage, a friend of
the first first artist we interviewed onthe podcast very first, and she was
so awesome to us because we werejust starting out in it and yeah,

(11:39):
still are really yeah, pretty much. We still haven't got this figured out.
Got to make good content. Isuppose let me know when we start,
we get there, We'll get there. Yeah, baby step step,
baby steps absolutely season five, stillstepping like a baby. She's Australia's bloody
rock chick, isn't she? Like? Yeah, well, I made of
mine is not into rock music thatmuch, but he reckons that Sarah Mcloud's

(12:05):
like one of the best vocalists inAustralia because like it's very unique her sound.
He also says Paul Dempsey is anotherartist who like they've both just got
these powerful voice. Got a greatfemale voice, he does. And so
when you hear that, it's distinctvoice. It is a distinct voice,
isn't it. Cloud. That's thehook kind of thing, because the stage

(12:30):
presence of the whole band, andyou're starting out the day, so everyone's
you know, everyone's just grabbing theirfirst beer. Ye, just getting in
and like the place was packed.People were camped out on the ground on
the grass if they wanted to dothat. There's people in the marsh pit.
It was just packed. And nextup came Esquimo Joe Hello, Hello,

(12:58):
which I don't think i'd seen themsince a big day out moons ago.
Yeah, that'd be the last timeI saw them. Yeah, and
oh man just absolutely rocked out.Yeah yeah, And obviously the crowd was
getting a little warmed up by now, and then all the sudden Steve and
bang bang Birds of Tokyo. Man, it's good, yeah, Birds come

(13:24):
out. The sun was start startingto come down, starting to go down,
Yes, something starting a set duringBirds of Tokyo set. Yes,
yeh see what I did there?I did. My favorite song that they
played was yeah you looked at theset, No, I haven't, but

(13:45):
that's probably my favorite Birds taking probablythe song. That's the song I put
on the Garage Rock Socials with Iapologize for everyone about it. Was a
few people sort of saying what thefuck is came doing on the socials and
then some messages through to Garade Rocksaying, Steve must be absolutely pissed to
this content because you were just talkingover the songs and we're like, oh,

(14:07):
yeah, what's going on? Hi? Yeah he Placenta falls to the
floor put on the barbie mate RyanFrisy, Hello, he was watching me
film and he's like, pla centerfalls for the floor and I already had
it in my head to say,put that in a cake and eat it,

(14:30):
and he's check it on the barbie. I mean, actually, what
would be what would be better placenterin a cake or placenter and a barbie
to all of our listeners right in, Actually that could be the next thing,
garone rock sort of pole, poleone pole? Would you rather have
a placenta on a barbie or aplacenter in a cake? Now, hang

(14:52):
on a minute, Steve, I'mhanging we need to be specific about this.
Yes, what kind of cake?I mean Devil's food cake put a
bit of fecal matter in there andcalled mud cake. True depends, it
could be a black forest cake. They're quite jammy and from all I don't

(15:13):
know much about placentas and being honest, but it's kind of similar sort of
substance an alien on the barbie? Is it? Is it smoked? I
wouldn't be smoking a placenta though,grilled real I think i'd be. I'd
be no grilled. I mean you'vegot to have those marks, Yeah,
you got to the lines are goingto be in it exactly, Otherwise you're

(15:33):
kind of just wasting your placenta okay, right in, right in, how
would you like your placenta? Imight trust you to say they always happened
to be placenter of attention. JesusChrist. I know it's good when Steve
goes Jesus Christ. Actually, sowhen we went to the Big Day in

(15:54):
twenty thirteen, and actually I don'tknow if you were there, twenty thirteen,
the Chili Peppers headlined and flee fromthe Red Chili Peppers was born in
Melbourne. I remember this, andwhen he's up there, he's just like
Melbourne. I've had placenter all overmy face in this city and that's a
that's a great way to introduce yourself, I think. And that's why he's

(16:15):
got a gap in his teeth.I don't even know what that means.
I just made it does work becauseeveryone that's his he's got a gap in
his teeth exactly Needles needles needles fromBack to the Future. He was also
in Star Wars recently and was awful. He had to kidnap a ten year

(16:38):
old version of Princess Leiah and heand three other criminals trying to catch this
ten year old girl, and itwas it was very p diddious if I'm
being honest, And but this tenyear old girl was able to outsmart three
men and get away from him. It's just like, come on, it
was just like watching a Benny Hillskit or something to play that when I

(17:03):
was like nineteen twenty walking to thepub, burn that and just run around
like idiots. That's the best wayto do it. Yeah, back when
you could have three songs on yourphone, it's great. So you could
only get three songs on your phone, and you reserved one of them for
the Benny Hill theme song, themy phone no no makes sense, confract

(17:25):
sent it was stolen exactly. Butthe two headliners of the Lookout Festival,
Yeah, I thought Live was headlining, but Incubus came up last. Okay,
so Li've played obviously a long timecoming Steve, like I've wanted to
see them, yeah, forever, and obviously never had the chance or never

(17:47):
gone to see him. And weactually had tickets to see him in twenty
twenty. Yes, we used tobe Bush and Stone Temple pilots. Yeah,
and obviously that never ended up happening. So we it's been a long
time come, and we finally gotto go see live. That's awesome and
it was worth the wait. Yeah, that was obviously played all the hits.

(18:07):
Ed Kawalch just yeah, such astage presence and wore sunglasses at night.
So need I say anymore? No, I think that's all we need
to talk about with live. Movingon, somebody in the moshpit was going
that mental light. There was stuffgetting thrown around, placenter. Everything was
it was no, it was barbecuedand then eaten. Oh nice with a

(18:30):
cake. I mean, actually that'sthe thing. You could probably going back
to the placenta, you could probablylike slice it in half, grill half
of it, and then also putthe other half between some sponge cake with
some cream on it. I mean, you can have your placenta and eat
it. I can't think that that'sthat's good good, but yeah, so

(18:53):
so Lifeful Grace Incubits Incubers came upleft, left, left, next,
next, I think it was likenext and last coming at the same time.
So next next they came out FunkyMonkeys. It was so good.
Yeah, they really put on agood show. I hadn't seen them since
Big Day Out many moons ago.It was in the two thousand and o's

(19:18):
Yeah, I reckon, I reckon. They played a sound wave that we
went to that Yeah, I'm prettysure I think it was that double sound
wave. There were were there wastwo days. I have a feeling a
bit and Steve, you know whatMy highlight was obviously the hits that they
played drive And my wife is amassive fan of Incubus last time she saw

(19:41):
him, they didn't play drive reallyyeah, and they actually played at this
time, which was a bonus. But I loved that they did come together
by the Beatles. Oh and howwas it really good? Like? It
was? It was cool because therewas obviously the crowd was probably more there
for so a lot of people didn'treally know who Incubis were potentially, so

(20:06):
that was good for something then forthem to sing along too. But yeah,
all in all, a great night. I think that's the way of
festivals in Australia for the moment anyway. Yeah, it's not it's not a
bad idea, but maybe these microfestivals might be the way to go.
And it was so close to home, Steve, And that's also another thing
is you can have like because becauseLive and Incubus were also playing co headline

(20:29):
tour as well, they were playing. They played like John Kine Arena.
I think they played the next nightJohn Kine. Yeah. But then you
can have these micro festivals with likethree Aussie bands as well. So I
think that that's not a bad idea. Yeah. I picked the book or
inflicted it. Yeah, I knowI saw it. It kind of bounced
off your chair. Really. Yeah, it's in the carpet now. I'm
sure you'll get it next time.Your vacuum dexta will lead it. How

(20:53):
is Dexterra microwave bandfield a little shy? He is a little He came and
he was licking my shoes as soonas I came in. Speaking of little
sweeties, are your little baby?Terry's birthday yesterday? Yes, yeah,
Terry turned eight. I got hima little Sydney Swan's drinking bowl. So

(21:15):
I just I'm just trying to rackup bonus points. And so this is
Terry. No, I didn't gethim to my my partner through a birthday
party. Invited two other dogs aroundand their pets. What they have for
dinner? Chopped placenta? Chopped placenta? Yeah, well, actually that's another

(21:36):
Would you grill the placenta for afor a dog. They just eat it
raw. Yeah, sorry, stupidquestion. I'd take that back, get
out the crowler and color it tickledpink. Now, actually another thing,
like we're going to get onto recordsstore day in a moment, in a
moment. But but you were tellingyou and your wife when I came in

(22:00):
downstairs, you said, shall Itell them about the dating story? And
I'm like, well, you're gonnahave to now, So Cameron, please
tell me the dating story. I'mcurious, Steve. Yes, Cam,
I'm really glad you're not in thedating game anymore. Oh so am I.
In fact, my partner and I'vesaid, look, even if we

(22:22):
split up or we just fall outof love with each other, we'll just
stay together, so neither of ushave to go back in the day get
terry, stay together for the dog. Yeah, why not? So well,
I know it was pretty interesting whenyou were dating. Yes see you
well you missed out on the appsstage, whereas I had, I had

(22:45):
them all. I was swiping right, swiping left, swiping up, swiping
down, stroking it out like therewas all times. So that was just
at the strippers exactly, just gonethrough my wallet and yeah, well it's
got worse. It's got worse.Yeah, apparently, so a friend of
a friend. It's a true storybecause it happened to a friend of a
friend. I have a friend ofa friend of like interstate somewhere. I

(23:10):
don't know, Okay, it couldhave been a different country. We just
we just don't want to name names. So my friend's friend, she was
speaking to this guy and one ofthe you know, matched on one of
the apps. Blah blah blah, you know, getting along quite well,
decided to meet up for a fewdates. Went out on a few dates.

(23:32):
Things were going really well. Theydecided to make another date and he
messaged her saying, oh, something'scome up. Would you mind just coming
a bit later and coming over tomy house. I'll cook as a nice
dinner and stuff like that. She'slike, yeah, no worries, throw

(23:52):
a little placenta on the barbie andyeah, well you might not be far
from the true day jumping ahead. No, that's all right. So she
decided, Okay, yep, we'lldo that. So they went there.
He cooked a lovely dinner. Steve, Yeah it's not placenta. We'll count
that. Yeah. Although, yeah, it had a great night. They

(24:15):
think they hooked up or whatever, and she ended up going home, started
feeling queasy in the stomach a bityuck. Didn't really think too much of
it. And the next day she'slike, oh no, I'm feeling really
ill. Quite quite a lot ofpain in the in the guard. So
we've got that bad that she wentto the hospital. Steve, Oh shit,

(24:37):
so it must have got pretty bad. And anyways, she's you know,
they've they've done the tests and allthis, and they found out she'd
had some sort of like food poisoningand this certain enzyme or bacteria whatever it
is can only be contracted from eatinghuman meat far out and not I can't

(25:07):
remember the word, but like notwell not properly kept human flesh. Not
okay, So I'm just I'm justtrying to process it. So not not
only was it humans So when hesaid she had some pain, I thought,
like the guy that she was withwas up to her guts. But
this he was, he was hewas topping out on the womb, I

(25:30):
think. But anyway, so notonly was it human flesh, but it
was like it was it wasn't evenfresh, like if you're gonna if you're
gonna save someone human flesh cam.You should at least, you know,
make sure that it's within its usedby Have you not seen silence of the

(25:51):
lambs? Like it's it's going tobe cut straight off, straight off the
brain? Yeah? Absolutely? Sohas she arranged another date with mister Dharma?
Well, once she'd figured this out? And yeah, it's very Jeffrey
Dharmer feel, isn't it. Onceshe figured this out? And this is
where it gets real scary Steve Okay, so it wasn't already no, Okay,

(26:12):
she went to speak to him aftershe found out this information, and
he's disappeared offline, no socials,no conversation's gone deleted. And because eating
human being, like cannibalism, isactually against the law in Australia, the

(26:37):
police got involved. They went tohis house. Turns out that was an
airbnb okay, and that's all weknow of the story. Okay, so
fast, I don't know what's happenedafter that. Wow, I'm curious now,
so am I? Wow? I'minvested. Could it have been placent
to Steve Well, I mean notwell kept, not well kept, because
that's the thing, because people doeat their placenta, that's true. But

(27:02):
this placenta might have been from youknow, ed Ka Walt, Well,
I mean your nineties, because itdoes drop to the floor. Yeah,
I know, maybe it was floorplacenter. I don't know. Maybe that's
that is the process that for abit, Steve, fuck because I mean
that's did she say what the dishwas? Well, considering it's a friend

(27:26):
of a friend of a friend,Oh that's this is all I know,
Steve, Okay, this is allI know. So yeah, because because
because that's the thing. So slightlydifferent and less disgusting story. So,
my my dad doesn't eat chicken, can't eat chicken. He's just got a
phobia of chicken and fish. Butyeah, so anyway, it doesn't like

(27:47):
birds. He doesn't like birds orfish or tokyo. So we used to
go to this pizza shop all thetime and yeah, you get your Hawaiian
with ham and pineapple, or youget your Aussie with ham and egg and
whatever like that. It turns outthat this was a Hello pizza shop.
They didn't advertise this, but theham is chicken. Oh that's pink.

(28:14):
They can't eat pig. Pig,so it's helloal ham, which is just
chicken. So my dad was fuckingfurious that he's been eating chicken completely unberknoast
to it, and he gets verysensitive when I bring that up. And
remember when you ate a whole bunchof chicken for years, He's not very
happy. This ham is gorgeous. It's this Virginian? Is this honey?

(28:41):
I'm not I'm not even sure. It's like, how does that? How
do they like do they just injectit with like pink crayolas or something.
I couldn't make it that color.I don't know. Do they use off
cuts of placenta PABs? We reallyneed to stop talking about is it undercooked?
Is it undercooked chicken? Well, that's not not well kept chicken,
not well kept chicken. I meanwhat's worse, not well kept chicken or

(29:03):
not well kept human flesh? Yeah, we might need to flesh that one
out another pole. Oh man.So instead of voting for your favorite food
fighters songs, which is coming up, we first of all need to people
the best way to cook your placenta? Rock took a dark turn, it
did, but you know what Ithink it was coming. It's like next

(29:26):
week, Jeffrey Dahmer or Hannibal,Who would you rather date? I'd say
dumba dumb actually dumber was gay,but come out yep of Jeffrey Dahmer.
So yeah, that's an I'm gladI did press you about the dating question.

(29:47):
That is, I hadn't come acrossany cannibal or maybe I had,
Maybe you hadn't. You just gotan iron gut could I don't know.
The food I ate at work isthis is not so we're actual where I
worked, have actually got a astaff cafeteria, but everyone at work has
had food poisoning at least once fromthis place. And I remember having fried

(30:07):
chicken. It was like it lookedlike KFC, and I was eating it
and then I was so sick.I missed the next two days of well,
it was just it was it was. It could have been human flesh,
to be honest, for all Iknow, it wouldn't surprise me if
I'm being completely honest, human KFC. I think that's children. Jesus Christ.

(30:30):
Fuck Record store day, were eatingchildren? Steve eating children? Well,
I was. I was hanging outwith a whole bunch of teenage girls
at like two o'clock in the morning. The other day. It was yeah,
sorry, P did eat once again. He flew a bunch of them

(30:51):
in the p Diddler. Yeah.So record store Day now, I was
going to this record store called DiscrepancyRecords. They're awesome. I've got a
lot of albums from them in thepast. They've got a good range and
free postage as well. So Iwas like, oh, you know,
how much is the free postage?Oh? Ten bucks? Cool, but
then they give you a ten percentdiscount, so it's like nine bucks.

(31:14):
Anyway, Yes, I mean MikeQuick maths. Isn't it great? But
anyway, so Record store Day wascoming up and there was like some exclusive
stuff and records all day is awesome. There's like just bands releasing all these
things that they've not released before aswell some exclusive stuff. So one of
the things I wanted to get wasU two single of their most recent single,

(31:37):
which is called Atomic City, andit's got a live version recorded at
the Sphere and I'm like, i'dbe cool to have it in your one.
You're I haven't checked, but itcould be who knows, got to
be so it'll be sock. Soand I was like, cool, it
opens at eight o'clock. I'll godown at eight o'clock and I'll just you
know, go get it. Howbusy could it be? How busy could

(32:01):
have been? Well, I sawit before I went to bed. I
looked on their socials and they hada video of last year's record store day
and the queue was hundreds and hundredsof people before they'd even opened the doors.
Oh jeez. So I'm like, okay, And I had a look
out on their website. They've gotwe've got three copies of this vinyl.

(32:22):
I'm like, there's a few hundredpeople in front of me. I don't
know you did, It's only youtoo. And there were also a couple
of other albums I wanted to getby the Hives actually, so those are
Hives. So I'm like, allright, cool, I'm going to set
my arm for four o'clock. I'mgoing to go down there. Anyway.
I woke up like quarter to two, and I'm like, I'm not going

(32:44):
to get back to sleep, soI may as well go now, made
myself a coffee, headed down toMonte albert And in the morning at two
o'clock in the morning, and soI get there and there's already a que
of people already waiting. There wasthe people at the front of the que
got there at nine pm the nightbefore fin Yeah, so I got in

(33:05):
and I was about thirty fifth inline, so it was it's not too
bad. And then I had alook at the website and updated it and
it wasn't three U two albums. They actually had thirty three copies. Oh
so yeah, and I'm like,I've known that. I probably wouldn't have
gone up at two o'clock in themorning. But anyway, it was an
interesting batch of people, like across section of people. Like there was

(33:29):
a guy who was next to me, and he was this older gentleman and
he wanted to get there was likea John Lennon's Mind Games re released for
that and also a George Harrison albumthat was getting rereleased, so he was
looking for that. But the majorityof the people, especially in front of
me, were all like girls inlike their early twenties. Who I mean,

(33:52):
Taylor Swift just dropped a new album, and then there was also a
live nineteen seventy five album that wasexclusive that was released, and another Olivia
Rodrigo, and so they were alljust really wanting to cure for that.
That's while you're hanging out with younggirls exactly. So did you think it
was something else? No, they'reold. Yeah, yeah, they're of

(34:13):
age. They are of age.Although the girl next to me was fifteen
years old and she came with bothof her parents and they were sitting at
like they had their camp chairs andpecullie just for her to get the record
the Taylor Supuan and whatever like that, and it was thirty one song,
yeah exactly. But the part ofme was sitting there, I'm like,

(34:37):
look, obviously I'm not into thatmusic, but I was like, this
is awesome. Not only is musicalive and well with the kids, but
they're queuing up in the middle ofthe night to get vinyl press amazing.
It's good to see that your ownthinking music was dead exactly, and also
physical copies as well. But Iwas listening to some of the girls.

(35:00):
They were saying like about how likewhat kind of record collections they've got,
and what kind of equipment they've gotand all this kind of stuff, and
it's like they're taking it like prettyseriously, and it's just like this is
this is really cool. And Iremember a couple of months ago, there
was a video of the lead singerof Disturbed and he was talking about Taylor

(35:21):
Swift on stage between songs and someguys like Yell and fuck Ola st blah
blah blah, and he's just like, look, man, I don't listen
to Taylor Swift myself, but ifshe makes music that gets people interested in
music and give them a passion formusic, I think she's amazing for it.
And then the crowd started, youknow, applauding and yeah, and

(35:44):
I think that that's good. It'sgreat. The kids are yeah doing this,
It's fantastic. Like as a youngkid, I liked Aqua and and
Hanson. Yeah, and the presidents. I still love the President, still
President, still Aqua and Hansen.Yeah, but that that's that's what it's
all about, is just going thereenjoying some music that's awesome to see.
Actually awkward, just came out toAustralia, played a lot three people,

(36:06):
but yeah, it was so diddid you see the footage of Nelly playing
an arena that was completely empty?Really? He was playing this arena.
I don't know where it was.I just saw some footage of it and
there's about five deep rows of peopleat the foot of the stage and then
there's just the entire arena was justempty seats and these two blokes just sitting

(36:27):
there, just filming it on theirphone. It's just like Nelly. Yeah
it was. It wasn't getting hotin there because it was too much space,
so everyone kept on all of theirclothes. Yeah, Steve, Yes,
Billy got his first job. Billygot his first job. My son
taken after his old dad doing boundaryumpiring boundary onpiring. The first thing you

(36:52):
did, first thing I did,Steve, and I stuffed up when I
did it. Steve. Yeah, well you kept throwing it further out,
then backing, thrown in the wrongdirection. Yeah. I just like the
sound of a car alarm going on. It's interesting. You weren't even lobbing
them. You were spiraling that car. Yeah, it's fun. They wouldn't
pay me. No. I Backthen, you used to wear white shirt

(37:15):
shorts, you know white footye shortsyewhite shirt and the footage shorts back then
were I mean short. Yeah,I if you if you got a boner,
you'd break the shorts. Funny story, it's going dark and I'm like,
you only got darkies and see throughthe white remember you could see through

(37:39):
the white shorts. I'm like,oh, this is embarrassing. I don't
want everyone to see me undies,so I free bought it. And I
don't know if you've ever seen takingclose notice of what a boundary umpire does.
They throw the ball in and theyflick up one leg right. Everyone

(37:59):
was like, I'd throw it inand people in front of me were like
laughing and screaming and giggling. Ididn't know why. It turns out I
was flashing him. Wow, Soyou were like throwing out the wrong boll
Just a young kid with no direction, no help, no direction but a
direction. Just remember the older umpirecome up and said, oh, you

(38:23):
know you were in you you're injocks. I'm like, yeah, yeah,
fuck, I see my nuts.So are you going to give word
of advice to your son? Makesure that you're wearing some maybe some white
underwear. He's not an idiot. So there's that. So the baby's arm

(38:44):
holding an apple doesn't fall too farfrom the tree. No, Well,
let's just say eating the placenta worksand eating the placenter works. If there's
any message we can take away fromthis from this episode, Eating the placenta

(39:05):
that enough to wrap this up?Do you think it's enough to talk one
day? I think I think it'senough placent to talk for a lifetime,
if I'm completely honest. Just forthe record, we're sorry, yes,
yeah, so we'll just keep thaton record. Apologies or apologies. Maybe
you cut this and put it atthe start. First of all, when

(39:25):
nugg and sorry, we are nugging. Sorry, Okay, nugging sorry,
