Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Force will be with you always. He Hello, everyone,
(00:20):
Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Lines your
home on Gels podcast Network for any and all. Thanks
Star Wars. I'm your host as always Katie, and technology
apparently hates my ever loving guts. Today, I had problems
with my work laptop and then I got everything set up.
Logging off from work, I was like, okay, I'm gonna
(00:41):
take five minutes set up stream yards, set up all
my links and stuff like. I got kicked out of Twitter,
so I can't access Twitter on my laptop. So I
was like googling everything and everything, and then my laptop
decided to die as I logged into the streamyard. Well
it didn't die, it didn't connect my mic and headphones.
(01:01):
So yeah, that's my story. That's why we're late. That's
why we're ten minutes late. I promise I was here
on time. Clay was here on time. I was here, Hi, Clay,
how are you doing today?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I am doing pretty good? And I just posted our
first live story on Instagram for those who are interested,
We do have Instagram again. Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
no A in War's very important, don't forget it. And
(01:37):
I just came up with this little thing that I
feel like I'm probably gonna do every single time we
go live. And I did make sure to put the
little YouTube signage there so that way people aren't confused.
And when we're like, okay, you're live, why aren't you
live on Instagram? So we're still good on be just
be live here on YouTube, but we're here, we're going
(01:58):
to be talking about speaking of let me grab everything
from the Twitter chat.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yes, hey, guys, I made a little banner if you're
here on YouTube. Now we have a banner that will
properly use. We're trying to get better at social media, guys.
Clay and I basically twitter died. It went off the
deep end, and Clay and I were like, well, fuck this,
We're done with social media. And we basically like scroll
and that's about it.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, like we like the only thing. The only time
I ever used the Star Wars Alliance Twitter account is
when I accidentally click on their notifications to try and
reply to something in our Star Wars chat and I
reply as the podcast page. That's the only time I
really use it nowadays. No, but we do have very
(02:51):
very little news. There's not much of anything out there
in the ethos right now. But yeah, we're gonna be
talking one, two, three subjects, maybe even a fourth because
I think the last thing that Travis posted is a
(03:13):
little silly and I but I guess there is a
small conversation that could be had with that. But let's
go ahead and jump into it. The very first thing
that we are gonna be talking about is an updated
cast member list for the Lego Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy.
(03:37):
Pieces of the Past. That is a mouthful of a title.
By the way, of course, is a four part special
releasing on September nineteenth on Disney Plus. There is a
huge cast list here. I think there is some that
(03:59):
we can talk about. I'm not gonna talk about everybody
because I think, well, I think one of the best
things about the Lego Star Wars, especially the first Rebuild
the Galaxy, was a lot of the surprises that just
came out of nowhere that made it really, really fun.
So we're not going to talk about everybody. I'm just
(04:22):
gonna go ahead and talk about the highlights and some
of the returning cast. Of course, if you saw the trailer,
you know that.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Allan Actually, I actually didn't watch the trailer.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Oh, Katie, there's a there is a controversial piece of
cannon it up.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
You want to see at least one of the trailers. So, okay,
this is Lego Star Wars, Rey Bill, the Gallexy Pieces
of the Past.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
The most recent trailer had something that a lot of
people were very excited to see but also uh, kind
of angry to see at the same time. And I
would I would like to hear your input on this.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Okay, So I'm starting it. I'm gonna turn my volume
a little bit down, but still there so I can
hear it. Okay. So I'm at zero out of one
fifty five right now. If you guys want to follow
along with my reaction, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, we're not gonna put it on screen because we
know that we sometimes get taken down if we do
that type of thing.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
So some of the returning cast, like I said, Alan
tutic As K two s O has been confirmed as
well as Jackson is gonna be played by Bench Schwartz.
Jackson has not made a actual Star Wars appearance. I
(06:08):
don't even think they've appeared in the Christmas special. They
are a comic book character.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, this is his first appearance. We knew Jackson was coming.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah, Jackson has been something that was already marketing, like
in the marketing and everything else. Ye, but Ben Schwartz
is gonna be playing Jackson, so I think.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Okay, So I'm at thirty three seconds because I paused
it so I can chime in. Okay, okay, Stolitis is
on screen.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Now there there is somebody who shows up on screen
that a lot of people, and I wonder if they
actually have the voice cast looking at it now, they
(06:57):
don't have that character in the voice cast, so the
the I don't even know if he actually has a voice.
I can't remember if he says anything in the trailer.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Every brick Baby, Yoda.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Grow good that.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
True vodka? So I think Death Troopers.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Mm hmmm, per poor goals.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I did see that screenshot.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I'll give you a hint. The person that I'm gonna
be talking about has a lightsaber.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
All right, y'all, we are gonna hit our first ad
break and we will be right back in three two one.
But okay, did I miss who it was?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
So you probably did, because it's literally a blink and
you miss it. Darth Revin is in that trailer.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Oh I have seen that screenshot. Ye, yes, okay, and.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
I even I sent it to Snell and I said, hey,
we're getting Darth Revin Cannon in Lego Star Wars before
we get Kotor remastered. And this is kind of like
the same thing that everybody else is saying. They're like,
I can't believe because because the funny thing is what
(08:21):
we talked about on the release of Rebuild the Galaxy, yep,
was that canotically it's happening like they they talk about
everything that's happened in the Star Wars universe. They share
every single story of the prequels, the sequels, and the
(08:45):
original trilogy. So this is of course a multiversal thing,
and you can say like, oh, you know, Revin is
part of this multiversal bit, but it's still a very tiny,
whimy multiversal canontical thing. And we get Lego Reven before
(09:11):
we get his like official remaster debut.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah, it's super interesting and it makes me feel like,
okay that the core toor adaptation video Gamer otherwise is
kind of dead, and this is like a Darth jar
Jar now basically.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I see I would see. I feel like that's a
very controversial take because there is still the well, there's
still those people that hold on to the hope and
like grasp every straw of every single developer that has
an interview lately. That's like, oh, but still we're still
(10:00):
working on it. We're still I can't say much about it,
but it's still in progress.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
And it's like, like I want to hold hope, but like,
we haven't heard anything from any video game, and I
wonder if it's.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Because of the lack of quote unquote success from Outlaws.
We know that Outlaws had a very large backlash, the
sales didn't do very well.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Right, But at the same time, you also know that
you have the Kotor fan base. It's going to go
buy this game.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh yeah, one, you do. But that's not the suits.
The suits don't get to make that decision. The suits believe,
oh well, if they stop buying one Star Wars product,
they will stop buying all Star Wars products, which is
a very silly way of thinking, and which is exactly
(11:03):
why we get. You know, we have the lack of
content coming our way via streaming because the suits had said,
oh well, if they dislike Acolyte, then everything after will
be disliked.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
And it is one year since has been canceled. Guys
still real acknowledgments.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
It's it's sad. But some more of the cast we
are getting sand witwere is going to be returning as
Mall as well as uh one. I will go ahead
in and kind of spoil, but they were of course
(11:49):
already uh a thing last UH season or in the
last special. Amed Best returns as Darth Jarge.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
So and yeah, you have basically everybody from the cast
of the first season question mark.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, and the three that we had known before this
was coming out. We knew Billy d Williams for Landorian,
We knew Ashley Eckstein for Brick Ahsoka. I don't know
why she has to be different. I'm interested to see why.
And then Ben Schwartz as Jackson. Those were the three
(12:34):
new people that we knew were coming.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
One that did get already kind of announced already also
because it was in the same photo marketing for Ahsoka
and the actual poster is Calcestis uh oh. Yes, Cameron
Monaghan is making his UH voice's return for Calcastus in
(13:04):
this movie.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
So I think that is super exciting. Yeah, and I know,
like I haven't done a lot of playing with those
video games. But I think the dude is a phenomenal
actor and so keeping him around in Star Wars is
super awesome.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
He has had a very fun run as far as
his story. His his actual intertwining story with the High
Republic is very very intriguing and fun. So if you
guys haven't played the second game, I highly recommend it.
(13:42):
They do play a lot with the High Republic there. Yeah,
so it's gonna be very fun to see him come
back for Pieces of the Past. The second piece of
news that we had had me just like this post
immediately say up out of I didn't know exactly what
(14:05):
this is.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
So this is a Star Wars insider story and it
is by Adam lands Garcia. It is his second canon
short story he did. He did contribute to Return of
the Jedi from a certain point of view, but he
had posted that he did some research and it included
like Path of Deceit I think bloodline, and then a
(14:28):
couple like different like Battles of Star Wars, and different
like nonfiction book nonfiction Star Wars books. And so this
is the snippet from his story, and basically, y'all, the
Path of the Open hand exists during Order sixty six.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yes, as soon as soon as soon as I read
the phrase a gift freely given, my eyes went wide.
I was like, oh, snap, hold on, hold on a second, guys,
the implications of this is wild.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Now I'm glad that they saved this until everything has
kind of come out for the Higher Republic. Obviously we've
still got Higher Republic adventured to Volume four, Volume five,
and then the Higher Republic Fear of the Jedi, but
all of those issues are technically out, so the Higher
Republic is done.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
So not only that, like, not only are am I
happy about all of that? But like I said, the
implications of this are really intriguing, really fun. Because if
you remember in Return of the Jedi, it was I
believe it was from a certain point of view, Return
(15:53):
of the Jedi, there was a story with death. I
believe it was in Coruson. I believe what what what? Where?
Where was he I don't know if he was in Coraucon, Yes,
he was in Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
It was Adam Lance's. That was Adam Lance's story, was
the Dutch story.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
It was Okay, Okay, So you have that. So again
you you have these pieces of the past literally that
we're playing within you know, the quote unquote current not
really timeline of things, right, yea, So they are they
(16:41):
are proving to the audience us, the fans of Star
Wars that because there are yes, certain rules of life
in the Star Wars galaxy, but there's also very wonky
(17:02):
rules with life and time span like lifespans and all
of this other thing.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
So like.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
You have there's the phrase of you can't kill an idea, right,
you have to realize what the path was and what
it turned into and how that could very easily word
(17:34):
of mouth just throughout the entire galaxy. Right. So I
think that there being a member of the Path of
the Open Hand, now we assume the Path of the
Open Hand. We assume because that same phrase was also
(17:56):
in the Path of the Closed Fist, right, and.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
I think probably the still the same principles remain. I
wouldn't imagine we say Path of the Open Hand. I
wouldn't imagine they're going by the same title because even
though Yoda said, Okay, we're gonna keep Dalma hidden, We're
not gonna reveal what happened. I would imagine the higher
ups and Corusline knew Okay, Path of the Open Hand,
(18:24):
path with the closed twist terror is implications basically, So
I say Path of the Open Hand. I don't think
it is the Path of the Open Hand. I wonder
if Adam Lance's story is going to transition them into
the syth accolytes that we get in Aftermath and Shadow
(18:46):
of the Sith.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Now I could totally see that and the and what
I had said prior. You can't kill an idea, right.
That doesn't mean that this person necessarily needed to swear
(19:08):
their life to an organization.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
They could literally still hold the same values and still
practice that in private. Yes, this this could very much
be a one off thing like this could be the
last survivor of the Path of the Open Hand for all.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
I don't well, yes, I guess that's true. To the
reference to a mother, not Mother Row or the original mother,
I can't remember her name Zebyron, I don't so I
don't think. I still think there's a cult aspect in
(19:51):
the battle.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Oh yeah, I guess I didn't. I didn't see that.
I just saw a mother and I just kept reading.
But this actually has like a new name. Yeah, Oh,
so this is an organization.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
At least it was. Yeah, So yeah, I'm like, dang,
I wish I made it to my library this weekend
so I could go get the magazine from Libby. So
I will have to wait until I get my library
card to get this one read, because most of these
(20:25):
stories don't come out in like a book format like no,
they are the magazine, the Higher Republic ones. The High
Republic ones have been the only exception to that rule
that I know.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
If people are interested in reading this currently it is
from Star Wars Insider, number seventy three.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Number seventy three. I thought it was two twenty three,
uh or seventy three.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
In the corner it says Stark, it says Star Wars Insider,
and then it says Slash seventy three that might be
paid some three page that I now that I look
at it. If it is to seventy three, I can
even double check the most recent.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Star Wars in Oh, I don't think he's on Twitter anymore.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Okay, let's see here more recent. Most recent issue was
two thirty three, and that was published as if we
were recording this yesterday, So yeah, it'll be issue two
thirty three. Yeah, and this has uh the U and.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Or yeah, it's yeah on the cover.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Now there are multiple covers. I just want to let
you Yeah, I think there is a total of three covers.
Back when I was working at Lunar, we actually were
working with Titan and they had up to I believe
three separate three covers for the Insiders.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Gotcha. Okay, So yeah, if you're interested and you have
access to this magazine, go check it out. Because I'm
sure Adam we loved Adam's deck Roy, so I'm sure
he wrote another good one.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
So I think the last piece of news that we have,
I have the quote in front of me, but Tony
Gilroy has had a quote about the non acting nominations
for the Emmys for Genevieve O'Reilly and Diego Luna. In
(22:48):
a conversation with gold Derby, Gilroy admitted that it was
quote painful to see O'Reilly not getting the recognition for
their brilliant performances. Genevieve O'Reilly. Of the twenty four episodes,
she must be twenty of them. She gives a five
year performance that's complicated, nuanced, in breathtaking. It's a lifetime achievement.
(23:09):
I'm sure when you're looking at the nomination, you think,
when are you going to get a part like that again?
When are you going to get an opportunity like that again?
When are you ever going When are you going to
ever do that kind of work again, especially if you've
been a working actor but always on the margins, always
down that list, And here's this incredible opportunity, And really
I would trade away a lot of other things to
(23:29):
have her there. He also admitted that he was not
as concerned about Lunisna, but was upset about it. Nonetheless,
he said, it really hurts, but I said it before.
I do think the performances and the work that people
did on the show is going to have very long,
a very long life. I don't think it has an
expiration date on it anytime soon. And I think he's right.
(23:51):
Diego Luna has gained some notoriety just with his performance
and wrote one with his performance in and Or season
one that does it the gate the fact that it
sucks that he didn't get a nomination for the Emmys
for season two, but that's what the awards do. It
gets the actor in front of the suits in this case,
(24:15):
and so they go, oh, Genevievel Riley, She's never had
an Emmy nomination, she's never had Golden globes, Like, do
I really want to see her? So we've talked about this.
I just wanted to share his quote because I did
appreciate that he finally said, like, yeah, I don't like
this because he's a very well known director and in
(24:42):
that's it in the suits type of you the people
who run the awards that a director like Tony Yo
Roy can carry a lot of weight. So him finally
saying something is nice to see. It's not gonna change
anything now.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
But yeah, yeah, I agree with all of that. I
think for one, one thing, if one thing is certain,
is that we will see more of these and Or
actors now that and Or has completed. It's something that
(25:22):
we see with a lot of critically acclaimed shows. Uh,
We'll start to see those actors boom for like another
two or three years, and then they'll phase out. But
even during that time, I think seeing them is gonna
be a big joy. Now, the only thing we have
(25:42):
left that I said was kind of worthy of news.
Oh quote, Yeah, is a little bit of a conversation here.
There's a lot of people referencing his quote from a
couple months ago, years ago about the like oh if
(26:04):
I need another house, you know. But we have a
quote from Oscar Isaac saying when when asked if he
would ever return to Star Wars again, he says, yeah,
I'd be in Star Wars again if there was something
good to do with that. So, like even Travis is like, oh,
(26:26):
so I guess he's uh, he's changed his tune and
everything else. You know. I think conversations have probably been had,
and that's why he's at least left it open because
he's an actor. If he gets paid what he wants, yeah,
he's probably gonna return, you know. So that's what I think.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
What about yourself, I definitely enjoy Oscar Isaac as an actor.
I think if he wants to return to Star Wars,
than great. I think actors deserve if they're offered an
opportunity and they want to take it, they should be
able to take that opportunity and not get judged so harshly,
like people are making fun of him. Snell made fun
(27:13):
of him. So what the studios are gonna pay the man?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Yeah? So yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
And he's doing all these interviews for Frankenstein, which is
coming up in December, but they're starting to do publicity
now because I think it's going to I think it's
going in the Tiff. So they're starting to do publicity
for it now. So we're probably gonna get several quotes
like this over the next couple of months.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Yeah, probably. But that is it for our news segment.
We are down to the main topic. I did change
the scene behind us Star Wars. The essential legends, of course,
were unleashed too.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
be right back.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Katie. Yes, we said that we were not super impressed
by the first one. I went ahead and uh, I
have the Uh well, I checked it in from Libby
(28:32):
and I listened to the audiobook and then I was like, wow,
I listened to that like three weeks in advance. I
need to listen to it again. But it was already,
you know, taken from Libby. So I actually purchased the
digital book and I read the book, and then mid
(28:55):
reading the book, I was just like, oh, let me
see if I can get it, you know, on Libby again,
and I got it, and so I like zoomed past
it this past week.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah, I listened to it because I had purchased it
on Audible a while ago. But I do, of course
have my mass market paperback.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I was gonna say, you have the traditional cover.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Yeah, the Legends banner video game cover. Ye, polshebang.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
I didn't open the book until today, Like this book
has never been opened until today. And it I mean,
just being realistic upfront, it probably won't ever get opened.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
And that's what I was gonna ask. We we we
said we weren't. We said we weren't impressed by the
first book because it and this is this is saying
it pretty harshly. I know, I'm gonna say this pretty harshly.
It reaked of script copy paste to.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah, and do you think this one is a little better?
But not much?
Speaker 2 (30:11):
I I might have to disagree with you. And here's
the difference. Here's the difference. Okay, So I have yet
to play the second game. During the time of the
second game's release, I was not financially stable enough to
(30:33):
make a you know, smart purchase with that game. It
would have been a very stupid purchase. So I made
the right choice and I didn't buy it. Now it
is currently right now as we speak, I am staring
at the icon on my desktop because I bought a
(30:54):
Humble bundle for Star Wars and I bought like fifteen
Star Wars games for like two books, and it's literally
sitting on my computer right now. I will probably have
a better time playing the game and getting the experience
of the game than I did reading this book.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I would agree, And maybe we'll do an episode where
we do the cut scenes for both books and talk
about those compared to the novelization. I know it's not
gonna get the full story, but like most of it.
But like so, I listened to the audiobook for this,
and I tried to listen to it twice. I got
(31:38):
through one and a half times, but I was like,
oh my gosh, and I got lost at the same
exact points. So it wasn't like my brain was zoning out.
It was literally just and I love Jonathan Davis as
a narrator. It did not work for this, for these
the series of Star Wars.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
No, it did not. Bill Well, go ahead, go ahead, Sorry.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Sorry, And I think it's it's possibly because I know
Sam Whitwer's voice, and yes, I know SI like Jonathan
Davis is so good, but also like he doesn't reach
what Sam Witward does, and we already talked about Okay,
maybe for an anniversary edition, could we get Sam Whitward.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I really, I really want them to do it. If
it's not this anniversary, then the after the next five years. Yeah,
because what is it, the fifteenth twentieth anniversary? I can't remember. Uh, well,
it says the hardcover for this book was twenty ten,
(32:46):
so I would assume that the for sun Leash came
out in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six. It was
while I was in high school, so both games released
during my time. In an hour after high school.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, the first the first novelization was two thousand and eight,
so twenty years is coming up.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Maybe I'm not gonna cross my fingers for it, because honestly,
I don't know if that's gonna save it.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
I think it, I think it could. I think it could,
or if anything, if they really want to pour the
money into it, they can go for a full like
audio drama of it and do it in the capacity.
I think that would be a little bit more fun
because you have a proxy there that can do so
(33:38):
many different voices. I think would be really fun if
they attempted to get different narrators for that, but this book,
it may have been the fact that I didn't know
the story going in. But there was also this weird
transition into like was it like a dream state or
(34:06):
like it was like a it was a clone that
was like dreaming but not dreaming, and like all these
other things, it wasn't The sequencing wasn't really properly structured
for a novel.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Definitely, the sequencing is a huge issue. I do think
there have been other cases where the cloning with the
dream sequences or memories of past lives has gone better
for Star Wars Legends, so I wouldn't judge the cloning
duplicate process here. Maybe it passes off better in the
(34:46):
video game. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
And that was the thing, Like it was very much
like as soon as the first trailer hit, like that's
how we were introduced to this game. Was Yeah, like
it was Star Killer bursting out of a giant vat
(35:08):
that you're like, oh, he's a clone because he gets
out of the vat that he just fell out of
and there's more of him like all of these other things,
and then he like fights his way out. That was
I believe the very first trailer for the game, so
we knew going into this like, oh, this isn't the
original star Killer, this is a clone. I wonder what
that's gonna do as far as the story goes.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
And I feel like that's a part of the story
where it struggled because you kept going back to Star
Killer clones identity crisis, and it's like, okay, you and
I both know that the star Killer died in the
(35:51):
first novel, first video game. But then like we get
to the final chapter and Code is like, he's the
only one who can tell us who the star Killer is.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
But that was see, that was the confusing thing is
so he was trying to manipulate the situation into like, oh, well,
you know, nobody needs to know you're a clone. They
can still think that you're you're just star Killer and
you know, you're an invincible badass and that's exactly what
(36:27):
the Rebellion needs, you know. But then it got a
little wishy washy. And of course it's the idea of
like Coda is still very embedded with the Jedi ideals.
He still wants the Rebellion to be on good graces
and all this other stuff. So that's why he's not
wanting star Killer to kill Darth Vader. And I know
(36:48):
we're just around here, but like, there's not like I always.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Talk about for almost twenty years, well well.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Not only that, but I always talk when it comes
to the content of these books. I always talk about
the meat and potatoes. This book had no meat and potatoes.
This was a hollow book. And that sucks to say
because there was a lot of things I feel like
there is potential for with like Juno.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Yeah, I loved Juno's side of the story. The Moncalamari
Dak mission was superb. I love seeing that. I got
super confused when Tarkan showed up and I'm like, wait,
Tarkan's here. Tarkan knew they were coming, but like then
it was like a whole employee with Proxy, and I'm like, oh,
I love this, Like yeah, I could have used like
(37:40):
a just a novelization on her in Proxy, like completing
rebels by missions, because I thought that was badass. But
then we got to like where star Killer kind of
took over the story and it just dropped, like I feel.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Like they're in the process of doing this forced unleashed
initiative with Force unleashed one Force un least two. What
they should have done was had because there has been
some time in between the first and second video games
(38:16):
or novels respectively, right.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
So.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
There should have probably been a story, a standalone novelization
of a Juno and Proxy mission.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
But the way we're really doing that at the time,
which is why you got novelizations versus like hey, I'm
gonna take these characters and run with.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
It exactly exactly and so but that is exactly why,
like we couldn't have also got it, because it was
not until this novel that they decide like, oh, well
these parts and this R two unit will actually help
you fix Proxy. So like there was a subtle like, hey,
(39:07):
this is the reason why we couldn't have a Juno
Proxy mission because Proxy is not working at the moment.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
But even like there was a small subplot that like
I feel like was kind of rushed to get completed.
Was the story of Proxy and his uh internal main
program Yeah, his his his main programming, but also his
inducer that helps him transform.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Because then like I think it was Leah that was like, oh, well,
maybe it's doing it on purpose, Like there is a reasoning.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
I'll tell you something, I love that aspect of it,
but it wasn't exploring enough to get.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
It and it didn't really go anywhere. That was another
problem is that like there there was nothing really there
for like Juno to like learn a lesson or something
out of it. Right, So that was a little you know,
frustrating as well. And then, like you said, the downhill
(40:12):
of stark Killer is literally every chapter that stark Killer
was in literally was the exact same thing was said
over and over and over again. I love Juno, but
I'm not really star Killer, but I am star Killer.
I need to find my own way. Oh, I can't
go back to the dark side. Rinse repeat, rinse repeat,
(40:34):
rinse repeat.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
And we're about to jump into our third ad.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Y'all.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
We promise, we'll be right back, we promise, and like
you got it.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
You gotta go somewhere else with it, like you have
to do something. And I understand their their hands are
tied with the script of the of the game, Like yeah,
but at that point I'm asking the developers, like, is
this how it's gonna be when I play the game,
because this is gonna be kind of annoying.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Yeah, and his most promising chapter was his chapter with
Yoda and like the Dark Side Cave because you get
like the little snippets of what his character can do
more of that kind of thing. But then it's just
flat the rest of the way or downhill, like and
(41:25):
I hate saying that. You guys know, I am not
a negative book reviewer person. I'm going to try to
find the positivity and everything. Juno's story is the best
part of.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
This, like because there's also like the idea of like, oh,
we got to keep secrets with this. Juno can't know
that you're alive, but like we're gonna have to force
our way into kind of letting her know that you're alive,
but we also can't let you know that we're all
(41:56):
doing this for the rebellion. And like it just got
so convolution in places. Again, I think that this is
definitely a story that they could have said, Hey, the
best thing we have going for us is the nostalgia.
(42:17):
And Katie can't hear a single thing that I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
I can't hear you. My headphones just died. They've been
telling me, you have you need to charge your headphones.
I'm at seventy ten, Like, what the heck, I'm gonna
go find a charging cable so I can plug these in.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Okay, I yeah, I will. I will still be talking
here because I do have a little bit of a ramp.
I think the best thing that the publication could have
said with this is, hey, maybe nostalgia is the best
thing we have going for us, and they should have
put Sam in the narrator's chair for this. And it
(43:01):
hurts because I think that people see the Force Unleashed
almost I'm not gonna say to the tea that they do,
but almost in the exact same vein as Kotor video game.
Like Star Wars. Video game fans are absolutely insane, and
(43:24):
they sometimes see those games as like, oh, this is
the definitive Star Wars that I want to see. And
that's why so many people have this crazed idea of
we need Star Killer in live action. We need Star
Killer in live action. And although I would really love
(43:48):
to see it, I don't know if current lucasfilm could
fill the shoes of what the original Forced Unleashed was
supposed to be. You know.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
Yeah, And I honestly don't know. So when did Sam?
When did Sam start on the Clone Warsh because that
could have been the other thing is because Sam was
so unknown that they just were like, okay.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Like, uh's I believe this. I believe Unleashed was before Clones.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Yeah, I do know that, so.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Because I know he was really popular on a British
show called or I think it was actually the americanized
version of the British show called Being Human that ran
for like I think five or six seasons. Uh, and
then he got the Force of New Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
He was on Star Wars the Clone Warsh twenty eleven
to fourteen, so right after after unfortun Leash, and like
Delray just now had him do like the mall audio books,
So I don't know how much like they would have
(45:19):
really had him do at that point. He did a
lot of video game stuff. Well.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
It's really funny because I just recently saw a I
think it was either on Instagram reels or on U
on TikTok, but he literally got the gig for Forced
Unleashed because of a random concept artist coincidentally made the
character look just like him. And so like the person
(45:51):
who I believe was either a friend of Sam's or
his actual agent was sitting in the room and he's like, Oh,
that kind of looks like a guy that I know,
and that's how he got the job. So like it's
all just coincidental for him, which I love because his
career has just boomed since then. But I I really
(46:19):
wish they could have done him using the voice for this,
because I do think like and I think it would
have been a little bit weaker on the juno parts,
but to at least have him in all of his
charismatic emotions with Star Killer.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
And who knows, maybe they will get him back for
an anniversary edition. I think with the fact that he's
still engrossed in Star Wars, I think that's a complete possibility. Yeah,
But like I do think John Davis is an exceptional
audiobook narrated I don't want to give him crap for this.
(47:03):
I do think it's just expectations are set knowing this
is a character played by Sam white Ware that you're like, oh,
there's gonna be all this emotion in the performance, and
there's it's just not because this is an audiobook read
so but like his mall audiobook Shadow Hunter, which was
(47:25):
released in twenty two, yeah, superb. Like Sam, what We're
killed in so we know he can do audiobooks. It's
just a matter of I guess if he wants to.
I do know I would definitely at least pick up
an adaptation with his name on it, so I would
duplicate purchase random else like not.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
Only that, like I do think that, Like, uh, for one,
you have these new Essential Legends published right with the
new cover art and everything else. So that's one thing.
But if you were to come out on the twentieth
anniversary and literally just have like a TikTok video or
(48:13):
an Instagram or whatever with literally just his voice and
then like either the like him in the sound booth
or like have the Audible or the Penguin Random House
audiobook like symbol like just pop up or fade into black. Like.
(48:36):
People would get so excited over this. So I think
it would be a smart idea.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
We will see. I mean, they did killer stuff for
Revenge of the Sith.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Yeah, so who else and hopefully the I will say this,
hopefully the very wishy washy are they? Are? They not?
Idea of Kotor does not prevent them from making that
kind of decision about the Force unleashed?
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Yeah, who knows. I don't honestly have anything else to
say other than I do think the time span where
this takes place, this Wikipedia has Force Unleashed and Force
Unleashed two taking place between three BBY and one BBY.
I think that probably should have been shifted back three
(49:31):
or four years, because it honestly feels like the rebellion
didn't get any time to breathe. And we know from
canon the rebellion gets time to breathe.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Well, not only that, but like it they do, and
they don't because like in the middle, like in the
very beginning, like Coda is thought to be dead, yeah,
because of a dramatic mission, right, and of course in
times of war that that just happens. So, like you
(50:02):
have this idea that the rebellion is established enough to
have an organizational meeting whenever they need one, but they
are still always on their toes because they are in
the midst of war.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
So and the fact that Star Killer's death in the
first Force Unleashed basically created the rebellions where we're at
at the beginning of this novel doesn't really It seems
like we've still been going for like four or five years,
even though they're still in disarray. Yeah, it still seems
(50:41):
like they've been going longer for six months than six months,
because that's what everything says online is like, oh yeah,
this takes place six months after the Force of Lesion.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Wow, Like I think it would have been better, like
genuinely if Juno was long dead, if Proxy was you know,
just coming back from you know, being asleep for so
many years, there being somebody who is like a long
(51:11):
lost relative of Juneo that the Clone is now obsessed
over because he thinks it's still Juno. Like even something
like that, I'm still you know, just poling stuff out
of my ass at this point, but like separate it
far enough because like even one thing that I was
kind of annoyed with with Coda, when talking about, oh,
(51:34):
the Rebellion doesn't need to know that you're a clone,
he was like, oh, well, like not a lot of
people know about you, so it's fine. It's like, well,
like they either know about me or they don't. Like,
if it's gonna be a big deal, make it a
big deal. If it's not gonna be a big deal,
(51:54):
don't make it a big deal, you know' That's what
it was a little wishy washy with, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
There's no commitment, and I feel like, especially in a
video game, you need commitment, and so then the novelization
should have reflected that. Again, I'm not a video game person,
so you can tell me I'm wrong, that's fine, whatever,
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (52:18):
Yeah, but I think that is it for our review, guys,
A little bit into what's going to happen in well,
next week we have the I have it up right
here where.
Speaker 4 (52:34):
The Higher Republic Adventures volume fo yes, and then actually
a other recording that we're not gonna say unless you're
of course, a part of our Patreon.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Is also going to be immediately after, but we're not
going to be recording that live, guys. So just so
everybody is a where we are pushing a lot of
Patreon content recently. So if you like Star Wars and
you would like to support us and our geek Ultimate
Alliance network, go check us out on Patreon.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
So, and then September fourth, Clay is on vacation, so
we are taking the week off, and so we will
be dropping our review of Echoes of Fear, the Higher
Public Adventures, and the Higher Republic Adventures. Oh gosh, it's
Dispatches of the Occlusion zone. Yes, I kept wanting to say,
(53:37):
like Outgate dispatches, and I was like, that's not right.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Yright, And honestly, guys, I am most likely going to
be turning off all of my notifications and just trying
to enjoy vacations. So this will be my first time
like taking an actual vacation in a very long time,
(54:05):
I think, since like I think the last time I
actually like traveled for a vacation was twenty nineteen, so
before I was even at the GUA, so it's been
a while. So with that, guys, thank you so much
for being here and supporting us. Of course, you can
always follow me at fanboy Clay on any and all
(54:30):
social media. I'm mostly gonna be active on Blue Sky, Instagram, TikTok,
and threads. TikTok is kind of dwindling, but that's more
so because I have now heard that the United States
is going to have its own like us only TikTok,
(54:50):
and I think that's stupid, so I'm not going to
be a part of that at all. But in those accounts,
I'm still going strong with reading and getting back into comics.
I've read my first Superman comic in a year this morning,
(55:11):
and it felt really good. So you can most likely
see a lot of my hot takes or not hot
takes of certain DC, Marvel and indie comics on those platforms,
and I will go ahead and share it because I
am currently gonna be dealing with most of the social media.
(55:33):
We are back on Instagram and on Blue Sky what
and Katie last, but she also has to somewhat manage
it because she has all of the like confirmation stuff,
dealing with the emails and stuff, so like I have
to text her, Katie, I can't get in. Can you
(55:54):
give me the code? So we I like the first
post I think was yesterday. I put both Katie and
myself as collaborators on that post. So if you're following us,
you will see some of the stuff that is coming
up on the Star Wars Alliance Twitter account. But go follow.
(56:14):
We would really appreciate it if you did.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
Yes, pretty please, We've got it. If you're here on YouTube,
I've got a banner Blue Sky and Instagram and y'all.
You can also find us by shooting us a text
or leaving us a voicemail at eight three zero five
three eight four eight two eight. Oh wow, you could
do both at the same time.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
Oh my gosh, that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (56:40):
I didn't know you do that. You could also shoot
us an email. It's the same user name as our
Blue Sky and Instagram. At gmail dot com remember the
Star Wars Alliance No A and the war is very
important to forget it. At Gmail dot com, y'all. You
can find me on most social media platforms. It's at Sleace, Katie.
(57:01):
Remember I'm terrible at social media.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
Now.
Speaker 1 (57:04):
Apparently I shared the post that claim made on my
story today and he put like a he put like
a story up yesterday and I still didn't share that.
I'm just a slackers.
Speaker 2 (57:19):
I'm fine, It's totally fine. There are some great people
in our Star Wars community that has already started to
follow us on Blue Sky, and I think have already
started to follow us on Instagram, so they will share
for you, Katie.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
Thank you, guys. No, in all seriousness, I'm trying to
stay off my phone. My daughter made speech therapy, so
even more now it's important that I'm off my phone
and she is up and everything. So yeah, but if
you shoot me a message, I will get back to
I promise. So with that, guys, I would wish Yeah,
(58:00):
I wonder if everyone a great day or night, whatever
time the day you are listening or watching, and we
will see you next time. May it forced to be
with you
