Today we're taking a look at Justice League Unlimited season
three episode seven and season three episode eight, The Patriot
Act and the Great Brain Robbery. So two fun episodes,
but not a lot to advance the plot or main
story of this season. Just a little tawny bit in

the second episode really callbacks in the first. But yeah,
uh probably, I don't know. I really enjoyed the second
episode of one of those ones I remember finally, but
the first episode, Yeah, there's some good elements to that too.

(01:44):
We'll get it too. We'll get it in too. We'll

So before we get into that, this past week was
past weekend was Thanksgiving with him. We were supposed to
go to the in last that did not happen. Olivert
was not feeling well on Friday and Saturday. By Saturday

afternoon of thisscond Yeah, we didn't go out. We didn't
want to get she has grandparents, so Albert's great grandparents
out there. You don't want to get them sick at
their age. So yeah, we avoid it. But we had
a really great weekend in here. Not gonna lie, really great.
Olibert had a great time and it was nice. But
I still forget some nice that we have a new please,
so you know, it's kind of it's not bad to

(04:19):
enjoy it at times. So I don't think we're getting
back out there. And I tell Christmas so it's going
to be a little while. But I'm sure his grandparents
will find their way in here to visit him. Before
they had I was shocked. But I don't see his
grandmother on the Halloween. It's on a Friday, so I
wouldn't be shocked. So yeah, pretty easy going weekend. I'm

excited about this. We had Monday off too, though, so
it just feels like I'm sitting here earlier today working
and I was like, oh wait, it is today, Tuesday.
Oh my god, it is Tuesday. It's not it's not
Monday at all, and realized I had to record this today.
So I watched the episodes and now we're here, so yeah,
let's jump into these. We had the first episode, and

(05:03):
I didn't I do remember this episode like I don't,
don't even have to say it remember it Patriot Patriot Act.
I really there was some stuff I enjoyed, but this
I just remember that as a little little dull at times. Uh.
So we get basically Captain America's origins in the flashback
scene to open up the episode, we see the spy Smasher.

(05:25):
I think, uh, I'm not even sure if this guy
was in like comics and that before. I think he
was just creative for the show. Maybe wait, I feel
like he probably was in comics. Ah and anyway, yeah
he I actually I feel like he's in the same

(05:45):
thing as Captain Marple. I feel like that's the king
from the same same one. Anyway, it looked really cool,
but it just really looks like it's just like Captain
America and there's Nazi They're gonna get super to basically
the reverse of that. And he shows up and he's like, yeah, no,
hell no, does not happen. So he gets into the

(06:06):
Nazi laboratory, beats him up, steals the syringe, has the explosion,
and gets out of there and flies away and it
looks like he's gonna land in the water, but he
flies up in his advanced play. At first I thought
he was a Blackhawk, and then bam, we go to
present day and we see General Ailing, who used to

(06:28):
be like the top military guy for Cadmash, looking over
this same file. He's like interesting. Then he goes out
and has dinner with a Manda Waller, and Waller's fire less,
like I hate the Justice League. Justice League SUPs. Now
she's basically I can work with him. She saw what
they did against the Licks and brainiac stuff that she

(06:51):
knows that they they're basically here to help. And she's saying, like,
we're lucky that we avoided jail time for all stuff
we did. And she told highly, she was like times
are changing, either time you gotta get on board or
you know. And he's like, yeah, we did did this stuff.
Before we'd be we'd be living under a red flag
time late, like Soviets winning in Cold War, Like oh
my god. And yeah, he's not very happy. He's like,

(07:16):
gonna do something better. Clearly, we just don't know what yet.
We should know what from the opening of the episode,
but we don't know what yet and an unfortunate swarm
at the same time, where at the Watchtower, mister Terrific
is like realizing that the League is stretched pretty thin today.
None of the main seven are round, are all off
doing things. Superman's trying to save a whole other galaxy,

(07:38):
and there's a lot of see indeed here guys trying
to step up and help. And I think it's like
Strip and Stargirl, Shining Knight, vigil Anthe and Green Arrow
are there and Terrific's like, yeah, I got a big
project for you guys, and sends him off to this
parade in Metropolis. And this was both to be Superman thing,
but obviously he has to save even the universe, so

(07:59):
he's a little occupied at the time. And Green Arrow
even said before he gets sit down, like we spreading
a little thin here, like the Army spreading herself a
little thin. He's like, do you call did you call it? John?
Look that and he's like no, sorry, sorry, no, which
I love, love the Sperrific Going right back to mister traffic, Am.
I wish we hadn't featured Fire more than just being
the watch Tower guy, but even at least we get
to see him mostly on a regular episodic basis, which

(08:22):
I can't say that for a lot of a lot
of characters. So, uh, they're there, they're they're due the
emotions they're waving, they're using their star girls, using their
staff to make them thing and she's great, pissed off
us like, while we gotta do this, And then a
policeman comes up and says, I want to thank you
lead people for coming out, like you really really help
us in green Eir was like, no, you're the real

(08:42):
heroes here, sir, Like, we do a lot for you.
So Stargirl is put in place, which has happened a
couple of times. And the spectators they're a little disappointed
about Superman not being there. The people in the crowd
they're a little uh, they're they're not great first, like
I watch Superman, I'm not Superman. But eventually they starting

(09:04):
to warm up a little bit to these people like
Vigilante and Shining Knight for example, to say, if he
preserre the ones at Dan, I'm pretty sure the kid says, uh.
So while that's going on, islands like, yeah, this is
not how I pictured things. I wanted a bigger role
in this, Like America is not gonna be the humans,

(09:26):
which is pretty hilarious now that we see where they're
going with the DCU, you can see shades of at
An Island here of the many humans are having too
much power, and he goes He's like, yeah, he's sure
if they desire the giant cannon in space. So he's like,
I'm gonna take action to my own own hands. He
goes into the cabinus, he manages to sneak all the

(09:46):
way to the door to the special Projects. He uses
his code. It doesn't work as a six months old
and they changed it. Then he knocks out one of
the guys and uh one of the other guard with
the scientist guy, and he takes the scientist guy and
brings them into the facility. Versus says, give me the
right code now with the gun guy opens up the
facility and then and then this even this is a

(10:09):
like DCU from Superman anime series, but he couldn't have
actual guns. They had to have like laser guns. This
is like so much more real in my opinion, I
can't imagine what kind of Justice League Unlimited like continuation
would have been. If you got it on like the
Hatbo Max or something. At least you wouldn't have to
like you could even do like gets hit sometimes, like
for the the Batman Kate Crusader a few times he's

(10:32):
really injured. So uh yeah, Arlan's like, yeah, I'm not
dying with that. So we knew what it was gonna
happen from the start. We knew he would take that serrum.
He takes the serum, he just turns into purple Hulk
in my opinion, and uh, e said, you got more fangs.
So and he's gray like maybe like more like the

(10:53):
original color of the Hulk. And he's like, I'm gonna
take a Superman and he jumps into the area, grab soldier.
Person's like, don't hurt me. He's I wouldn't hurt your soldier.
You're just doing your job. So he got perfect time
of mind, drops him, takes out. He's gonna go fight Superman.
Uh And he shows up at the at the parade
and yeah, he's the Island's essentially like on power, well

(11:18):
not on power, but his strength is like a doomsday
type character, like probably not a He's not as menacing
as Doomsday because Doomsday would kill any person to uh
go on, but he he still he he's not he
got the power, but he's not as crazy, a little

(11:38):
crazy when we get to him here. So he wants
Superman and he doesn't have Superman. He got stuff like Vigilantes,
Shiny Knight, Green Arrow, stargirl. Uh. He does a number
of strike and at one point he even like a kid,
operates the crane and throws the h crane ball wrecking ball,

(12:02):
crane ball wrecking ball into the in general island saving
stripe and then General addingly pushes the crane and almost
kills the kid, and the strikes like what do you do?
And I know I enjoyed that, Like he's off the
deep end. He got a little bit, but he's not
sure with power and not like the ability and stuff.
So he beats down everybody shot and he tried to
stand up to and it doesn't matter. And there's a

(12:23):
really nice moment Vigilante where he saves that kid with
the motorcycle that makes some honorary deputies and tells him
to get the crowd out of there. They go and
they did it before too, and he saves him so
or they save him, so they're all destroyed island destroys
them all. Green Arrows like, yeah, I need assistance, mister Trippet.
We need to bring in some people please. He's like, okay,

(12:45):
there's some backup coming now. And he's like, oh great.
The Crimson Donoma, the Crimson Avenger and my former Fuss sidekick,
and he's like partners Speedy and yeah, their Crimson Avenger
gets destroyed. And then Speedy in Green Arrow used the
Quantum Arrow and it looks like it does damage, but no,

(13:07):
Alvend gets out, walks out, and they're the remaining ones,
and he's like, I want to fight Superman, and Sean
Knight's like Superman right now is trying to save a
whole other universe while while you're here, while you're here,
like he's not worrying about your little thing here, and
he looks like he's gonna kill Shanny Knight. But the

(13:28):
smart old lady of the parade who was first saying
like I want a Superman stands Over's like, who a kidd,
and you're the only master here and he looks over
and everybody's staring him, their standing over Shawne Knight. He's
really nice, like spoder Man two moments there where they
protect him, and he also tells him the story of
like King Arthur telling him to lay waste to the
village and he says like, no, I said no, and

(13:50):
he's like, you're a bad soldier. He's like, no, Arthur
commanded me. It was the right thing to do. And yeah,
he even is like, yeah, I became to think I
hate the most, but you know, you're gonna need me
one of these days when super Beans can't be trusted,
you're gonna need me around. And they're like, yeah, no,
we don't need you at all. Your your your girls,
and he just takes off. I don't think we see
him anymore in this this serious series. I think that

(14:13):
was the last time that we see him. And yeah,
I do like mister Triffic as well. Do like mister
Triffic basically being substitutent in for John and showing that
he is very capable. Although when you're stretched in, you're stretching.
There's not much to do about it. So this was
an enjoyable episode. Just again, I wanted the plot to

(14:34):
get wanted the plot to get going, and it does
a little bit in the next episode, but still it
kind of sputters a little bit. We'll get we'll get
into it before we do that. We're gonna give this
one a seven out of ten and take our only
outbreak of the evening listener from an ad support network.
We don't pick the ads. Are volume gonna be a
quick three ten two ad. Just your volume and we'll
be right back in three two what and we're back. Okay.

(15:04):
We got the final episode of the Night, season three
episode A great brain Roppery, which, again, even though nothing
happens in this episode, I know I've said it before,
I still really enjoyed this episode a lot. Like there's
a lot in this there's a lot, a lot to love,
a lot to laugh at, and it makes some stuff
move forward a little bit. So let's just jump right

(15:24):
into it. So Lex is trying to get Brainiac back,
not being successful. Of course, he realized that Grid has
some some on the info, some Trump cards about bring
the at peace that he's not telling Lex uh, and
he won't talk. Obviously, He's like, why would I give
up my only Trump card? And Lex's like, okay, well,

(15:46):
I'm just gonna go into your mind. So he gets
he sits up basically tries to mimic Grid's powers. You
don't have the visibility obviously, but he has a machine
to try to duplicate it. And at the same time,
Green lanterns contrary because we don't know anything about Grid
and the society, even though only that is operating, and

(16:08):
he wants to go in Flash his mind because Flash's
mind was uh was there and he wants to, like
Grid take take control for a second. So he wants
to see what Grid what they can get, and Doctor
Fate is willing to go through for it. Flash is
very hesitant at the time. He's like, ken, me just check,
you know, check with Batman CBS and includes like Batman
checked everything, Grid covered his tracks. We're going to do this,

(16:31):
So they do it at the same time that Lex
turns on his machine as Doctor Fee is going into
Grid and basically provides the link between the two and
them O Flash and Lex Luthor changed bodies. I do
love had both them like I had to both discover it. Uh,
Flashes like whoa and Lex knows immediately. Lex it takes

(16:55):
Flash until he sees the mirror. And though Lex knows immediately,
he started running away immediately. And and I do Doctor
Fate knows immediately as well. They don't know. On the
other side, well, somebody knows, and we'll get to that
a little bit. So Luther takes off. He's going crazy.
He's running around the Black Tower. He tries to get
Beam off and he puts his hand in one of

(17:15):
the workers. He's like, get like, beat me out of
here right now, or I'm scramble his brains and they're like, no,
we can't let him run a buck and flash his body.
He'll be super dangerous. Just before it happens with mister
Triffy is one of his tea spears too, and again
that's what I'm saying mister Trifficy in this episode as well,
and sends it, sends him flying, sends him flying, and
they get saved a person, but Flash takes off at

(17:37):
it and he shuts the door but flashes hiding and
at the same time, lex Is uh In flashes in
Le's body and this is hilarious, and they have a
giant plan because Polaris wants to take over as well.
There's this before ah Flash took over Lex's body, well

(18:00):
before they switched. So he has a plan. He basically
tells him like you'll make more money than you ever did.
So they asked Flash like, come out, let's talk about
a plan. Flashes Luther obviously, Flash like, yeah, the plan. Yeah,
I'm all over the plan. Before he does that, uh,
Tala takes him and it is heavily implied that they

(18:20):
have some fun. So, uh I, I I don't know
if you can do that, like the way they applauded
as what I when I got immediately maybe my mind's
in the gun a little bit there. But she was like, oh,
you're really attentive and loving to have and and so
giving it. So it's so enthusiastic and I was like, okay,
like let's kind of water too. They don't have to
do five or six in the windows here and there's

(18:41):
kids watching. I'm kidding obviously. Uh so yeah, Flat Flash
is trying to explain to him plan. Then he's like,
what's your job of the plan and the guy's like nothing, okay,
everybody tell me you're you're spot and the plan they
explained him. The plan that since this h you're this
country is I'm gonna go to the euro that's the

(19:02):
currents that they're going to to join the European Union.
They're having a big shipment of money coming in and
this will be a big time to hit him, so
that's what it's gonna do. He's like, I love it. Flash.
He's like Lex Luthor loves his plan. Lex Luthor is
pleased and he watchs out. So he's do a half
decent job bluffing them. Some people want to take over,

(19:23):
so it's not enough. They're being subpicious of him. But
before he gets to leave, Grid is asking to speak
to him, and Flash goes to him and he's like,
I just might see it. Flash, I was in there
with you. My mom was in there. I know what happened.
And he's like, you're not gonna bust me, are you.
He's like, no, I'm gonna just watch you squirm and

(19:45):
whatever you want to say. I could listen to to
Grid read out and read out the phone book like
the voice of Grid. It's fantastic. It's the best. It's
the best here, it's the best. And I can't even
remember who is the voice of Grid. Now there's been
a little a while. I'm trying to think now, who
is the voice of Grod? That is gonna I need

(20:12):
to think about that. Who voices Grod? DCU, So I'm
gonna need to know that one. David Zolblaf, who I
don't know him well Depth Charge and Beast Force, but

(20:36):
nothing else really that I would know. So yeah, he's
really great, really great here as Grid and I think
he always Lobo in Young Justice too. Okay, So anyway,
that was story about apologies about that sidetracked sidetracked there.
So yeah, he grad's like, yeah, no, I'm gonna watch

(20:57):
a squirm. He goes off to be to help them
take care of this plan. At the same time, still
Kass running running free. The one of the more funniest
things of this season. Lex takes out he's at least
I gotta I can see who is the flash he
takes off as basically I don't even know who this is.
He puts it back on and yeah, they're going after him.
They're trying to fly on him. He is doing a

(21:19):
really good job here of getting away. He even like
uses his intellect a couple of times. He gets out
his AUDI card and Badge gets him to go there once.
Then he makes a transponder to get to basically communicate
with them, and after they get the heist done on
Lex's side, and have everything there. Lets use the transponder

(21:42):
to let them know that he's not actually him, it's
the Flash and then cuts out. And then Flash just
presses on for a second because he's been looking at
the thing. He tried to call it a couple of times,
no dice, no service, and got CRALLD couple of times
when he tried to go in communications hub. Then he
just jumps on at press that said leader JeOS are
six priority. I mean, they cuts it off, but that's

(22:02):
all they need to find it where mister Triffic sends
people there steal Oh my god, who are the other people?
It's Steel I think Steel Ice and somebody else. I
can't remember the third person. Ah, I can't remember who. No,

(22:24):
I can't remember who the other hero besides doctor Light
Doctor Light is who it was too, I'm barely kind of.
She uses her thing to track Sinestra. It's nice to
see Sinnesterra on this too, like for the for the Legion.
I do like seeing him, especially with jab me and
so can concern about it all. So just just as

(22:46):
they're gonna do that, mister he comes in, he Flash left,
Flash tries to get off the watch tower once again,
mister triffict. He ACTI makes the gravity and then he's
flashes it's the speed up, trying to get back down
and he reactivates the gravity send him right into the ground,
destroying the like just destroying the ground and he's like,
got to fight. The person's here now, but has dot
their feet pieced out for a minute to go create

(23:07):
the spell. Creates the spell switches their mind just in
the nick of time, flashes himself from John's like, are
you shure? He's like, well before uh, before John joined
the Marines, his nickname was. He's like, all right, cut
it out. He's like, you said you wouldn't say anything.
He's like, yeah, I'll just messing with you. And he's
like all he can tell him is that their headquarters
in the swamp somewhere. And I don't even know if

(23:28):
he was serious about that. He was half like, I
don't know, and so yeah, it was it was fun
that that switch was fun. And they're not believing Lex. Uh.
They got him strapped to the thing and the playeris
is gonna make his move now, He's going to take over,
but no, it's Lex. Obviously Lex admnted all their powers

(23:49):
and just as Polaris tries to magneto kill uh Lex
Lex uses his belt, activates, reactivates powers and trapp uses
his own power to get some traps and he's like, yeah,
when I augment value power to meet, sure I could
deactivate all of them. Two, so you gonna you can
try if you want, you know, anyone else want to try?
And yeah, uh tell it's like, oh honey, break back

(24:12):
with her and yeah, he bunched her off and goes on.
So this was fun. It was a little bit quicker
and again not a lot, just a little bit of
extra information just to defunded. And there was a swat.
We would have told him more about have any members
there were stuff like that, but I don't know. Fun
two episodes, not a lot of mans in the plot.

(24:34):
But this second episode Green Robbery, I forgot about how
much I enjoyed that before. And this is one of
the classic episodes when people say just leave a little bit.
Is one of the ones that you remember is flash
and like switching body. So again, really fun episode and
Nace little switch a pace from the previous episode. Uh
I would give this hm hmm. I'd give this an

(24:58):
eight at of ten. Fun enjoyable, but doesn't make a
whole lot go along here at plot Lise, So listeners,
