the Disney animated and animated adjacent films from the beginning,

(00:44):
working my way through all the way to the most
recent animated movies I am currently up to. I think
I just put out the Who Framed Roger Rabbit episode
and my next one is talking about well Oliver and Company,
So we got that coming out, Go look forward to

(01:05):
that one. My next over at DC Alliance, myself and
Travis are doing our DC films through the years, Our
next movie up for that is Red, so that should
be fun. I haven't seen that one in a hot minute.
And then over at Marvel Alliance, Chris and David are
doing their Baxter broadcast where they are going through the

(01:27):
Fantastic four movies, and I believe they're up to the
Fantastic Four Rise of Silver Surfer. You know this is
the third episode this week. You figured out, would I've
actually checked that one out? Nope, can't. Can't be bothered

The first three episodes of this new season, and I
wanted to bring back my good friend Chuck, who was

(02:34):
on coming came back, came on talking about season one
with me, So Chuck, welcome to the show again.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Oh Joey, Joey, Joey, let me tell you brother, throw
me the keys, load up the guns because we got
a tournament, baby, yes we do. We need some drivers.
Hey man, thanks for having me by listen. I don't
think I have consumed so much media in my entire

(03:06):
life for use of city, though nobody else.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I greatly appreciate you to do a lot this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I really and do you know what, I'm happy to
do it? Why? Because I love Twisted Metal. Man. If
you listen to season one, which hey, go to the
archives because we we did a whole episode on the
whole first season and guess what it was rad It
was really good. I will once again say it here.

(03:39):
If you don't like this show, just tell me you've
only ever played Twisted Metal Black and that you were
kind of an edge learn in high school. Man, it's fine,
it's cool. But this is exactly what I loved about
Twisted Metal. It is everything that was silly and fun
and satirical from one, two, and three before Black came

(04:00):
out and took everything way too seriously. Okay, this is fun.
It is silly and Hey, we finally they heard you.
They heard your complaints. Joey specifically of where's the tournament?
I thought this was supposed to be a tournament and
Boom shot a log like NBA jam, we are finally here.
We're at the tournament. They're gathering up the drivers.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah. This first three episodes is basically I mean, we're
we are following John again and John and Quiet and it.
We get introduced to a couple of new characters, like
we we meet doll Face, who is fed to be
John's sister from before. We're We're gonna meet Mayhem, who

(04:47):
she gets introduced in the second episode. We are also
introduced to mister Grimm, to Axel to trying to think
who else we we I know, we talked about it
in when we talked about season one, but we're introduced
to a new Raven and they do give an explanation

(05:09):
of why we have this Raven.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Which I really really loved.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I loved that that they were like, hey, we're changing
the actors and it's because she has body doubles everywhere,
And I really liked that.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah, and I did see I did writ an article
about why they didn't have some people in this season
specifically like Preacher, so Jason Manzukas allegedly and obviously like
Nev Campbell and like Thomas Hayden Church and all that. Specifically,

(05:44):
when they were doing the season, they just couldn't get
these people, like they had obviously contracts for other movies,
other projects they were doing, and so they're like, well,
if this season is a hit and we can get
a third season, then maybe we'll be able to get
these guys back.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
So yeah, sadly.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
We won't see Preacher this season, which kind of sucks.
I do like Jason Manzukas, but hopefully this season, like
the producer said, this is the hit and we can
get them back.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah. It was interesting because they they did a really
good job of almost being like, we don't know if
we're going to get Green Lip for a second season,
so we will leave it ambiguous of like where these
characters are. Are they dead? Are they not dead kind
of thing. Yet, not having not having the Lawman back

(06:36):
and not having that law back was a little bit
of a bummer because I think he was a really
compelling character in season one as like kind of an antagonist.
But I also don't I don't know what his motivation
would have been for joining the tournament to get a
wish kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Sure, and it's not the thing. We're only three episodes
in out of twelve, so it's not the same that
he can't or a law man can't join in later.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Absolutely, And I think this actually truly captures the beauty
of what Twisted Metal was, which was when they would
jump from one to two, they would drop some characters
off of the roster to make you know new characters.
And I will never forgive them for getting rid of
Grasshopper from two to three. It still burns me in

(07:29):
my core because Grasshopper was my favorite. And yeah, like Twister,
Twister's gone too. It looks like to an extent.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
I saw her in the trailer.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, she's still like lingering around like the actress seems to.
I think it's still there.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, well she wasn't in the first three episodes, but
that firstore. I saw her in the original trailer when
they dropped for season two like a few months back.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
But we have, if we have learned anything from media
other media's lately, trailers don't mean anything. You are you're yeah, yeah,
everything gets changed, Yeah, but yeah, so we get we
get roadkill, we have Mayhem. Sweet Tooth is back yep,
which is great.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, I love Sweet Tooth is great.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Sweet Tooth I think, I mean and rightfully so should
be the standout because he is the mascot for the game.
I like his silliness. I think it's fun. I love
that it's Samoa Joe just being the most ridiculous. But
is interesting. He had to learn the lines, so he
did an interview where he was like, They're like, yeah,

(08:39):
what's it like playing like Sweet Tooth and stuff. He's like,
you know, it's like He's like, it's you know, a
really cool experience and stuff like that. They're like, well,
is it hard to have, like, you know, doing the
actor with somebody else's voice, And he's like, I had
to learn the lines. I had to know all of
the words that were going to come out of uh,
you know in season one Will Arnett's mouth. Yeah, because

(08:59):
I had to be able to match my body language
to the things that were being said. So he had
to learn everything, which is I thought interesting.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Well, because he's doing the it's no different than than
David Prowis doing the lines of Darth Vader on set
and then James Arl Jones dubbing it over afterwards. So
Joe is doing the lines on set, Will Arnett is
dubbing it later for when it comes out so that

(09:29):
the the actors can can hear the line and play
off the line. Like you can see under the mask,
you can see his mouth moving. Yeah, Like so he's
saying the line like yeah, there's no doubt about that,
especially like here, Like this is the one scene in
I think the second episode when he faces off against
the Big Baby and yeah, he's like, wait, who the

(09:52):
hell's who the hell's the trash man? Like you can
talk with another guy.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Yeah, I love this. I love this side quest Lord
that there are a bunch of murderers who have gimmicks,
and uh, sweet Tooth wants to be the best one.
So he has to, like highlander hunt them all down
to take their you know, to take their power and stuff.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
That is great and it's it's good that it's it's
just showing that that Sweet Tooth is he's just being himself,
like he he wants to be the best and the
like he got off on a somebody calling him the
wrong name and immediately he's like, no, fuck you, I'm

(10:34):
the worst killer here or the best killer here, and
I'm gonna prove it.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
And then obviously when Calypso kicks in the tournament, like
starts off the tournament, it's like, Okay, nope, we're gonna
do this. I can tak to them all the first
episodes because it was at the end of the first
episode when he kicks off.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Yeah. Yeah, it's it is kind of interesting because he
essentially starts this whole thing where he's like, we're gonna
start a tournament. Uh, well, we're gonna bring them all
together and we're gonna like fight, you know, fight it
out among all these like best of the best. Like
but Stu is that Yes, Stu is like kind of

(11:12):
coming up with this idea. And then all of a sudden,
Calypso's like, you know, recording plays and that happens because oh,
I think that guy just figured it all out for too. Yeah,
but I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
What's really interesting, though, is that Raven Prime Raven Alpha
I guess knew about this though last season she knew
that Click gotta do this, yeah, and even this Raven,
this current Raven also knew because we start out with
her basically chastising alf Raven Alpha for not training John,

(11:49):
and so we opened up with John basically well after
a flashback with Raven and her friend lover partner Kelly,
Yeah as kids who they're torturing another classmate and Kelly
gets injured and basically is a coma her. So her

(12:12):
wish is to basically have Kelly come back to her,
but she is basically going to be having She is
having John train and having him train on an arcade
game which is Twisted Metal, which I thought was for
ye but yeah, like she is, she's upset that that
Raven first Raven was just letting John just kind of

(12:35):
diddle daddle for the first like month and not actually
doing anything. And now that once John is like no,
I don't want to be here, I'm gonna leave, and
then once first Raven Raven Alpha is like, no, you're
gonna drive for me, and then hands him off to
this current Raven and she spends the next six months

(12:57):
it'd be like, all, right, train your train. This is
all you're doing now, nothing else, yep, And I do
enjoy John trying to escape and then the levels of
guards that just having to keep increase increase on him

(13:19):
because he was really bad escaping.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yep, very bet at escaping. At one point, tries to
convince one of the guards to help him, which was
very silly.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
But it worked because he was able. And this is
after he finds a map of way to go to
his grand because he still has no memories, but he
finds a map in his house that his sister had
made to his grandfather's cabin out who knows where, And yeah,

(13:58):
he convinces Glenn or one of the guards that like, hey,
we're going to uh go through the tunnels and we'll
get outside the walls and then we'll be gone. And
naturally this guy is like he tells the other guards
to tell Raven that hey, yeah, we're gonna this is
what's gonna happen. And the way he did it is

(14:21):
because he like he he tricked them into getting into
the shower with with him because Raven's always listening, which
I thought was always funny because it's always like with
the Glen or whatever his name is, it's like starts
to take off his his stuff. He's like, what are
you doing? Like, no, just getting here, I just I
just need I I'm showering, just just get here. I

(14:43):
didn't talk to you, like, why are you naked? Like,
I'm not gonna shower with my bathing seal on. That's
just weird were doing.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
But then makes him get in there fully closed but
us and then and then and then gave him clothes
to wear because of the uniform was wet.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
But it was just it was but though like because
he got the uniform and then went back to Raven's
compound to sneak in and to get the ambulance and
to drive off with it. And then all while this
is happening, we see that Quiet is part of the dollphaces.

(15:22):
Now she's integrated in there. They are going about disrupting
all of the district distribution to all of the cities,
which is kind of fun.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, very furiosa ask almost kind of yeah, like disrupting
the drive the milkman lines. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Then they hear about the ambulance coming out in New
San Francisco, and so they tried to go after it.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
I remember you had talked about how Dolphace had a semi, Like,
what were your thoughts of seeing the semis her seeing
her semi?

Speaker 2 (16:01):
I thought it was interesting. It does kind of look
like it does kind of look like the one from Black.
I thought it was pretty rad. I there was no
car strapped to the front of it, right, No, no, okay, So,
like that was one of the more iconic things is
I think I think it's in Black. Maybe they strap

(16:23):
like a police car to the front of it. It's
like chained to the front. Yeah, and it's used. It's
just like a battering ram. That was just kind of cool.
I always appreciated that. But outside of that, yeah, I
was happy. I'm happy that they're still keeping a lot
of the same elements right that, like Della Face is
driving dark Side, we get mister Grimm, which is super rad.

(16:46):
And I'm really interested in what they do with this
character because he is supposed to be the supernatural character,
but his whole thing is he's the only one who's Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
So when I first watched this, I watched it at work. Yeah,
And so I watched it again before, like earlier today
before we started recording, and I missed the second time.
So when he was I guess sucking Jeremy's essence there
in the third episode, I missed that Mayhem and Quiet

(17:21):
had seen him. Yeah, but they didn't see him, if
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Like we see Ham drawing it out and then they
all look at you like what the hell is he doing?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Like I didn't tech that part, so I'm like, oh, okay,
like that is that's really cool? I like that. So yeah,
it adds like a little super natural element elemental part
to the show. Yep, but not really.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
So it's really good because you don't now we don't
now we actually don't know if it's like actually something
because he because he goes and he digs up his
bike which was buried in his father's great Yeah, yeah,
so the father is that I believe that is the case, Yes,

(18:12):
if I remember correctly, or somebody is like he is
possessed by the by the ghost of somebody is like
kind of the stick okay, because I remember in Black
he was a Vietnam veteran who was possessed by his
best friend Gud, who died in Vietnam. And what he

(18:34):
wore his helmet was a skull and it was actually
his friend's skull that he wore. That was that was like,
that was like the big thing in Black that I remember,
And this one, Yeah, it's like he's kind of supposed
to be a ghost writer a little bit, a little
tiny bit like you don't know if he's actually like
the Grim Reaper or not kind of thing. But yeah,

(18:55):
he's fucking awesome. I love I love mister Graham, and
I like what they're doing with this character. And it'll
be very interesting to see because obviously there is some
sort of supernatural element to this, right yeah, Like that
was kind of the whole thing is Twist them Metal
one was just a meticular combat with a little bit

(19:16):
of stuff here and there, right like a little bit
of like Sweetooth is a murderer for some reason. Its
heads on fire and we don't really know why. And
then in two two is when the silliness and the
kind of super more supernatural paranormal stuff was happening. Like
mister Graham is now actually it was dead and came
back to life. Uh, Sweet Tooth is now becoming more
of a demoned Calypso is still like this guy who

(19:39):
apparently can grant wishes and it's not just like a
he can just make the thing that you want to
have happen happen. He actually has some sort of magical
power to be able to do this and then like
also in two is when we get Axel introduced, which
we have in this. I am I've always been torn

(20:00):
about Axel. I never know knew if I really liked
the character or not. His background story which they carried
over into this, it is the same story that he
was like this experiment of a character, Like he was
part of an experiment to like be able for like
pain tolerance kind of thing. And that's what like the

(20:24):
the contraction that he is trapped in like is supposed
to be. Is this like weird pain. It's essentially like
a pain engine. Like that's kind of what it is.
But he yeah, he does everything with like sounds because
he's like blind. Oh yeah, Like so like his special
his special was like this like this like sound wave

(20:47):
explosion and it's because he was like deaf and blind
or something. He was kind of a lot of things. Okay, yeah,
and so yeah, but he's blind in this right, that's
what the that's what that either the sensors were all for.
Oh I thought that's what the all the light sensors
were for when they were sneaking into his theater, into

(21:09):
the drive in.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Well, because he he's definitely not deaf. I can tell
you that because he's like responding and talking to Dolphace
and John when they kill the scientist guy. Okay, but
I also didn't clock him as as blind because he's
looking at them.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Maybe yeah I did. I just know. I know that
he's at least blind in the in in two. That's
kind of his whole thing, like, among other like horrible things,
he kind of like is trying to make himself be
this like ultimate pain machine kind of thing. Okay, there
was like a moment where I was a little mad
that he came off of it, Like I got like

(21:55):
that was like a little bit of a little bit
of a crustiness for me. Uh And then I was
just like, but like it doesn't make any sense, like
why would he not be able to come off the thing,
you know what I mean, like off the giant double.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Wheel, especially when you know from what the previews are showing,
like they're gonna be doing more than just racing though,
Like they're gonna need to have him be able to
interact with these guys, with the other racers at times.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
So yeah, yeah, and I think it's a it's super
interesting to me. How did you feel about Axel's character
and design and all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
I thought it was fine. The interesting thing was when
Dolphace and John were trying to sneak around to get
into the main building to shut off the power and
they see him chugging gas and then like laying down

(22:59):
on the couch and essentially like crying himself to sleep. Yeah,
that was that was definitely a little odd because then
the very next scene is him back in his contraption yeah,
and John telling him, well, trying to tell him that hey,
you're free to go, and then he's like it was

(23:21):
a it was a funny scene of like, hey man,
you like I can't hear you gotta use your big
boy voice. Yeah, It's like okay, So we don't really
get a lot from him because then the very next
scene we have him in is him bareling down on
Quiet and Mayhem after they are being attacked by mister Grimm,

(23:46):
and seeing these two kind of face off for a
quick second in the background is interesting. But I mean,
we didn't really see much of there either. So having
him show up with cool him attacking them was cool.
Like that was fine. Other than that, like he's I

(24:08):
need to see more of him, which I know we're
gonna get more of, but as of right now, he's
just a He's a cool looking character that I don't
know more much of.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Right Yeah, I'm hoping that there's an entire episode that
just kind of explains who he is, like they just
do like a focused episode on what's happening, because knowing
a lot of the lore of that character, he's not
my He's not my favorite of all the drivers that
they have in here, based on the knowledge of the
video game. But that's just I think because I never

(24:42):
really found a story that interesting. There was a part
of me that was like, Wow, they nailed the like
his his vehicle. I still don't really like it. I don't.
I don't know what it is. It'll be interesting because
like his whole thing is that he has a force field,
so I'm very interested to see how that works, you
know what I mean, like keeps him from getting shot. Obviously,

(25:04):
they were like trying to shoot him, and he was
like shifting the wheels.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
One the one way and shot it back at them,
which you know, shot doll face got her started up.
And then but then like the second time that John
shot it hit just above his arm. And it like
shot some whatever.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Steam or something on his face. So yeah, no force
field unless he just didn't power it up.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yeah, because they shut the power off that point.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
No, they'll still before.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
No, they're so okay, So then yeah, I don't really know.
I'm very interested. Yeah, I'm very interested to see where
that's where that's going with that character.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I could see them having an uh actual focused episode,
because I can see them having that. I can see
them having a grim focused episode, and I can see
them having a mayhem focused episode because we got we
got a doll face focused episode. That was the second
episode we saw her basically taking over the convincing the
other girls of what I can assume would have been

(26:08):
the but not the Raiders. What were they called whatever
group that vultures, Yeah, whatever, small vulture group that was
of like, hey, these guys are treating us like shit,
but we're the ones actually making all the deals. Why
are we letting them like do anything? Like why don't
we just go and actually take over? And they do

(26:31):
so like they they kind of focused on that, which
is good, like and that's I like that episode. I
thought that was good and we're we're we are getting
some backstory ish of Mayhem. But I also feel like
everything that she has said so far has been completely
other bullshit. Like she's she's said like, oh, she had

(26:53):
a husband that was younger than her, but then like
in the very next sentence she said that she's the
best driver of the West Coast and.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Then we didn't know how to drive car doesn't know
how to drive. Yeah. She just seems like she, like,
out of self preservation, is like consistently lying about everything. Yeah,
but I think that's designed for us to not trust her.
Correct like they want us to not trust her.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Is that probably by the midway point, she is gonna
do something. She's probably honestly, I'm not gonna say this,
but like she might be like a calypso spy.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Or something, yeah, something to that nature. Or she could
be like like she is, she's just inherently a bad person.
She is the foil for Quiet, specifically because Quiet inherently
wants to wants to see the good and everybody in
a world where everybody is a bad person.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
She's going to Mayhem like quicker than she probably should have.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, And I and I wonder if that's if she
sees that and she thinks of it because she now
feels like her brother to Mayhem. Yeah in that way. Yeah,
because nobody else, you know, nobody was willing to give
her the time or let her drive or anything like that.
So I thought that was interesting. We also get like,

(28:14):
so we we kind of learned the hierarchy of how
the dolls work, which was quite interesting. It's kind of
like voting, and that we get a pretty sweet like
race off because Quiet steps up and then somebody.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Else actually I think actually just doing it because she
wants to piss off Quiet. I think I'm not that sure.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
I think that was maybe the intention. Yeah, And so
we get like a really cool race scene. What I
think is also kind of important to remember watching this
is like they need to do a lot of things
outside of the cars because it's unbelievably expensive to shoot
vehicular combat. Yes, yes, yeah, So like I wonder if

(29:04):
we are, I would it would make sense for us
to get a ton of background stories and then like
the last probably episode or two episodes, is gonna be
the big climactic like battle tournament.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Yep, I can see that. Yeah, I'm sure, yeah, which
is kind of interesting. I mean, we've had so we've
had three episodes, and we've had three essentially three like
car thens. Yeah, so like I can I can see
I can see us having like each episode having like

(29:37):
a small car battle but nothing extravagant. But yeah, probably
the last two will have like the maybe not the tournament,
but actually no, I can definitely see the last two
being like the actual tournament tournament.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Yeah, yeah, it'll be very interesting because he makes it
sound like it's like one v one bracket ish, but
then it's like like or maybe that's just my implication
because that's kind of how the first one was.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
But yeah, and then World Tour is when they started
introducing like allowing I think it was like you could
have six on a map.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Or like arena style. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I
don't know. I will say that I do love Anthony Karragan. Yes,
he is great, great actor. I remember watching him. I

(30:32):
think the first time I saw him was in it
was definitely Flash, the Flash TV show, and then again Gotham.
But then he was in Bellow Teds Face the Music
as the robot going after them through time, and god,

(30:52):
it was he was great. And then he's been like
he was in Superman most recently and he was in
another movie most recently. Like he's he's a great actor.
I love him. And seeing him here at Calypso.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
His yeah you're having hair all of a sudden was
like super weird for me. Sure, yeah, because I I
will kep look at hims like is that metamorpho?

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Yeah, I Like I kept looking at I was like,
I mean it doesn't have eyebrows, so maybe uh yeah
hair is like super throwing me off. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Yeah, he's got the the alopecia. He had that when
the young age, and there was an interview done recently
where I think it was on one of the late
shows and he was asked about that and apparently when
he was younger, he was told that because he's that
he has that condition, that he would probably never act,
and he's like, no, I'm gonna I want to do

(31:50):
this and look at him now, like the dude is
a dude's a great actor.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
It's great. Yeah, it's almost it's almost like you can
just like you know, put a we can makeup on
and have a really great actor.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
So it's it's crazy even without it, Like again, yeah,
he was Zazz in Gotham and it was an amazing
character in Gotham. He like it worked.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, he plays he does a really creepy dude really well. Yeah, Yeah,
he's a he's a good actor doing really creepy stuff
because he's kind of weirdly like, he's very it's interesting.
He's very goofy and funny in this but it comes
off and it works. Yeah, it's over the top, but
seriously over the top almost, Like, yeah, it's interesting. I

(32:35):
really like. I really like his character. I like what
they're doing with Calypso because Calypso does it's not a
character like he's he's kind of just the like the
floating MacGuffin kind of thing in the game that unless
you beat the game, you don't really know anything about
Clipso outside of that, okay, like you don't know what

(32:56):
his intentions are for when he gives the wish and
things like that until you win the game. So having
him actually have a development and character, I think it's
really cool.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Now real quick, so you always played and Calypso within
every game and gave a wish and every game.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Yeah, Calypso holds the tournament that will give you the wish.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Yes, Now you always played as Grasshopper or you like
play as Grasshopper, but you played as every you play
as other characters. I I at least tried and played
with everybody so I could learn their learn their system.
Would you beat the game? Did you ever beat the
game with characters?

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Yeah? I beat I beat the game. It's been a
very long time, but I beat the game with all
of at one point, with all of the.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Characters on at least, And so was there a different
like so you got to see like the wishes that
were Ye.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Everybody has their own wish and their own change and
what it does.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
So I'm wondering, and I'm not saying this is going
to happen, because that would toss my mind, and I
doubt that what happen. I'm wondering if and this actually
could be like a season three thing, if they do
a third season, if they were to like film multiple
endings of multiple winners. Oh, that would be kind of fun.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
That would be kind of cool. It'd be very interesting
to see what happens. I wonder if this if the
tournament ends all in one season, I.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Mean it could again, the producer the producer would like
to do a third season, but he doesn't, like he's
not he's not planning on it. It's it's one of
those things where it's like he's filming this season. I'm
sure it's gonna be a We're only gonna film it
like this if we can get no season gray. If not,
we're doing season two.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Right.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
So I'm I'm looking at this as by the end
of the season we might have it ambiguous again, but
it could potentially be an end.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Yeah. I think the one thing I do find interesting
about this is he that it's supposed to be invitation
that you get invited to do the tournament. Calypso invites
you to do it, and yeah, the first season, Yeah,
and everybody's just kind of like, yeah, I'm driving, it's me,

(35:23):
I'm doing it. I'm going to be a part of it.
It's like, I don't is that how that works? Like,
are there preliminaries now, well, we have any idea And
I'm wondering.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
If he I'm wondering if he sent out the radio
signals specifically to each group and that was the invites,
and so then each group has to figure out who
they want to send because like we see in the Dolphaces,
like they're only sending because they still are operating on

(35:53):
their missions to go attack people that they can only
sacrifice one person to go to uh this tournament, and
then they end up sending three people.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Oh yeah, it didn't make a love sense, well for
if you count Jeremy. But shout out to Jeremy the
shining star for me. And this was Jeremy. I love Jeredy.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
He was you know, I mean, rip Jeremy and bigger
and Ashley Ashley. Yeah, it was Actually he was just
trying to break his bread man, just trying to that.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
I can't It's gonna be hard for me to look
at bread for a little bit, a little bit. Yeah,
that was I was just like, man, the the weird.
I don't listen. I don't like mixing work with pleasure,
you know what I mean? So like for me, for me,
anytime there's like food related flirting stuff happening, I tap
out pretty quick.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
That was great, That's lovely, no like so yeah, well
so I thin guess the only other real thing to
talk about is, you know, we brought up Quiet and Mayhem,
so really just Quiet is trying to teach Mayhem how
to drive. We talked about how her latching on to Mayhem.

(37:12):
That's like, Mayhem, I think it's going to be a
I bring her up on because I think she's going
to be a problem or quiet later on. And then yeah,
John is Dolphin wants to reconnect with John. John is
having none of it for the first doesn't want to talk.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
About any of it. Yeah, which I guess I get
to an extent like yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Why He explains why by the third one about like, yeah, no,
that was the past, and I don't want to relive.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
That, right, Yeah, He's like, I don't remember it. Why
would I want to relive it anyway?

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Yeah, because she brings up like you ever even asked
about our parents? And he's like is it good and anything?

Speaker 2 (37:56):
She doesn't respond, and it's just like, yeah, exactly, it's
not good. So why what I want to talk about? Yeah?
I thought that was really interesting, Although he does kind
of finally open up, uh, because like the things that
he wants to know about are the things that affect
him currently now, right.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Effect, Yeah, it's not Linyl, not his right past self, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
He wants he wants to know about the Babysitters Club.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Which I've also impressed that that man was able to
read eighty nine books in essentially a day.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yeah, pretty much Like I'm.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
Not saying that the the Babysitters Club books.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Are thick, but I don't remember them being they're probably
like what.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Maybe one hundred pages, yeah, maybe.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Maybe one hundred large large friend hundred pages.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Maybe, But like he he read eighty nine books in
a day.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yeah, yep, doesn't make no sense. Hell yeah, I don't know.
Didn't understand that either. I just let it happen. Yeah,
I was just like, yeah, okay, all right, sure, why not?
But also like just the silliness of it. I'm just like,
like we have these like really interesting moments with John
where he's you know that he's like inherently he is

(39:18):
a good person, but he's like he's goofy, but he's
like a serious character. He's a goofy serious character, right,
Like he had a very serious job and he was
lighthearted about it, but like we never got to see
like the childlike wonderment of the character, and now all
of a sudden we do, right, like this is like
him wanting to know about the Babysitters Club books is

(39:43):
like a really important thing to the character for him
to feel normal, I guess or something, because like otherwise
he's kind of just been He's kind of has just
been this milk this milkman who has survived. I guess
that's what it is. This is a moment of him
not being in survival mode anymore, yea, which is like

(40:04):
I find really, I don't know, I guess I connect
with that as somebody who probably stays in survival mode
a lot more than he needs to in a lot
of ways that like, yeah, it's like, yeah, he finally
he finally found his hobby. You know. It's like because
even even when he finally won and he thought he
was going to be able to relax, no, come to

(40:25):
find out, Raven is like training him to be this
driver now, so like he doesn't even get to not work.
You know. He's a pizza delivery guy for a hot minute,
which was hilarious. I loved. I love that he absolutely
destroyed that pizza. Yeah, could not figure out what I
was looking at there. Yeah, so it certainly wasn't pizza.

(40:49):
But yeah, I'm curious to see how much more we
get from that. Obviously, it's a huge plot point for
the rest of the the series for the season, but
I kind of hope they start wrapping it up. Uh.
There's a part where I'm you're either gonna lose me

(41:12):
because there's too many characters with too much development going on.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
And at some point I want to see some vehicular
manslaughter uh and and some really awesome tournament stuff. But
I do want to see the conclusion of this John character.
I just want them to do it in an episode.
I don't want them to sprinkle it out through all
the rest of these and like feel like I will

(41:36):
lose it if they also are tying it in to
all the other characters too. Does that make sense? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Yeah, yeah, all right, well, yeah, it's it's his show.
I think you might lose it, so.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Yeah, probably probably, but no, I think that's really about it.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
I I am not even I'm I'm overly optimistic about
the rest of this, uh, the rest of these episodes. Yeah,
and they're gonna be a little bit more digestible because
they're doing two a week for the next couple of
weeks and then the last last three. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
So yeah, it's it's the show will end on August
twenty eighth. They're releasing every Thursday, Yes, two to two
and then three. So yeah, I really weird schedule, really
drop schedule. But I've seen weirder. I'm being honest.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
Yeah, I'm very curious. I would love to know the
logistics of why that is. Is it a is it
a thing? Well? Is it a thing where like they're
releasing it out to get it done in a month
because of other scheduling things around it that they don't
want to lose that because now we have to remember

(42:54):
that like advertising is based off who streams it, right,
so they don't want to lose those advertising if something
else comes out during that time, that would conflict with
somebody watching that show. So they need to release it
in a in a certain window. Also, does it just
fall off? Does viewership just fall off in general? Maybe

(43:16):
they saw that in season one where like a lot
of viewership.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
Yeah, season one was all one drop, they dropped all one.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Well that's true, Yeah, that's true too, and that but
that's what.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
I'm because there. This is the I have seen I
have covered multiple shows on this this show that the
first season was one drop, and then the second and
seasons onward they'll do weeklies and even after that they'll
some of the other shows they'll do like two or

(43:50):
three episode drops for the first week and then weekly
after that. So I don't know, it's it's really weird
some of these drop schedules, and you're you're not wrong,
but this one being half hour episodes, like you could
easily Maybe that's why they're doing the two episode drop

(44:12):
two and three episode drops is because you know, all
these other shows are forty five to an hour long episodes,
so it just kind of matches up with those in
the way.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
Yeah, yeah, maybe it's a thing where they figured out
that people are well, yeah, I would love to know
the logistics of people who digest an entire show in
one block, or somebody who breaks an hour show up
into two because they're watching it on their lunch break.
This is a perfect lunch break show, It really is. Yeah,

(44:47):
you can watch one episode in thirty minutes while I'm
eating my lunch at work, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
Except for this Also, I don't pay for the premium,
so I got commercials, and commercials extend it by like
another have.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
Every ten minutes, there's a commercial break. Yeah, yeah, it's
not my favorite.

Speaker 1 (45:05):
It's whatever.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
I can't pay more, man, I.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
Just can't do it. I mean, I got enough service.
And I'm already debating on getting like AMC with Shutter
because they've I've been.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
I like the horror and uh it's yeah, it's spooky
seasons right around the corner exactly.

Speaker 1 (45:24):
So anyway, Chuck, thank you for coming on.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Yeah, man, hey, i'll see you next time where we
talk about the next two episodes. And I'm pretty excited
about it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
Uh yeah, so let's let right where they find you.

Speaker 2 (45:38):

me on the comic comic book rundown feed. That's a

(45:58):
part of this network, the great this network and only
the only good network. I believe we have a shirt.
Oh it's not part of the network. Oh, I'll screw
those networks. Okay.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
Anyway, Uh, we'll walk through the multiverse. This show.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
I'm saying. What I say is his own thing.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
This whole time, I thought it was the only network
that mattered. No figure this network.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
Yes, but not.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Oh listen, I barely show up to those shows anyway,
that's fair. Listen, Hey, go check out the comic book

and more importantly, Joey and I are doing a really
fun series once a month, the last Sunday of every
month called Getting Franchise, where we reviewed the latest and
greatest in movie franchises. This entire first season has been

(46:49):
one year of us watching super super great horror movies
where we reviewed the We reviewed the gris in the
latest of you know, of remakes and stuff, and it's
been a joy.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
We've got some silliness over there. We've reviewed a lot
of crazy stuff. Uh. If you like yeah, if you
like Suspiria, you're insane. But any outside of that you'll
find Yeah, you'll find out a couple of months what
we mean by that anyway. Yeah, man, thanks for having
me on. That's where you can find me in all

(47:27):
those locations.

Speaker 1 (47:28):
Chuck always a blast. Thank you very much. Yes, awesome.
