will be a SoundBite when those ads happen. As for
the Patreon exclusive content, I've been doing my Multiverse minutes
Disney Dives, where I've been going through all of my
all of the Disney animated and animated adjacent films, starting
from the beginning, working my way through. I just recorded
(00:45):
my episode talking about Oliver and Company, so that one
will be going up here later this week on the fifteenth.
After that will be my episode talking about Little Mermaid.
So I'm up to the rens era, but also myself
and Travis over DC Alliance. I've been doing our DC
films through the years and then Chris and David sorry
(01:09):
David over at the Marvel Alliance have been doing their
backs to broadcasts where they're going through all of the
Fantastic Four movies, the original Frantastic for movies, not the
new one. They did that one. But we also have
a bunch of back content on the Patreon. If you
would like to go listen to that, please go check
(01:33):

give us a rating review on your podcatcher of choice.
We greatly appreciating it and it will help any listener
anybody find the network. So with that being said, thank
you for check out this episode. As you can see,
(01:54):
I am still covering Twisted Metal because Twisted Metal is
currently on and emlike to last time, I have to
bring on my good friend Chuck because he is my
Twisted Metal friend. He is the Grasshopper forever.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Grasshopper, forever, Baby Grasshopper forever. Uh Hey, Joe, thanks for
thanks for allowing me back on the show to gush
about not only one of my favorite shows that's currently out,
but my favorite video game franchise of all time, Twisted Metal.
I've been going back. I bought I bought this is.
(02:32):
This is how dedicated I am too, Joe. I want
you to understand. I upgraded my my PlayStation network like
uh like subscription or whatever like thing, so I could
just play Twisted Metal for essentially free, but it actually
costs me more to have the monthly subscription than if
(02:54):
I just flat out bought bought them all. Yeah, but hey,
I forgot how much I love Twisted Metal, man, going
back and replaying it. I've been playing trying to beat
everybody in Twist the Middle two World Tour. Uh. The
the the nostalgia of the competitive scene that I was
(03:14):
a part of, uh still very much. Uh and it
I forgot Twister is almost unplayable because she's so fast,
uh that you cannot Yeah, and she also glitches really
bad a lot of the time. All of a sudden,
you're just on the other side of the map for
no reason. Uh yeah, I just remember that. Uh yeah. Man.
There's so many characters that they have introduced that are
(03:36):
in this like that are in the games. I forgot
mister Slam. Mister Slam was in season one. He was
the guy who ran, he was the bartender. Yeah yeah, yeah,
he's got he's got like a like a. I don't know.
It's kind of like a back hoe, but it has
like a cloth front and he picks up and smashes people.
Complete completely forgot that he uh that he is in game? Yeah, man,
(04:02):
they're doing an amazing job with this, really again paying
homage to those who have stuck with the series for
as long as they have, and it's really really good.
And this these two episodes, man, we got some we
got some really really good introduction to what everybody's intentions
(04:25):
are now, which I really really loved. So let's get
into it, man, let's talk about it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
So the first episode, episode four, we get our core group,
which that of John Quiet, Dollface, and Mayhem. They're going
to Diesel City because they need to get weapons for
their vehicles, so they're gonna go into that. They're gonna
try and steal weapons because apparently they don't have enough
(04:56):
money or something to get the weapons. But that's the
best plot. The best plan is to steal whatever weapons
they can from this Emperor of Diesel City.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah. I don't know, he is a he's a new
carric I don't remember this bit ever being a character
in the game, so he's like something new But what
I love about this is they are trying to put
logic into why there are so many silly ammunitions, yes,
in the game, which I absolutely love. Like we have
the Boomerang missile, which, yeah, the ghost missile. They have
(05:32):
a yeah, the napalm, which is a which I think
was a special for somebody specifically where they would just
shoot essentially like a flamethrower. But yeah, they had like
the like a in Black you could like launch a
trash can that would explode and drop fire everywhere. Yeah,
and uh the e MP you drop like minds everywhere
(05:57):
and you would hit it, it would hit you and
it would just shut your vehicle off. You couldn't do anything. Yeah,
so uh you would just be a sitting duck for
like five seconds I think, or something like that. Yeah, man,
I love I love the little intricacies that if you
if you're not a super fan, you don't know that
(06:18):
these things, like like they're trying to put logic to it.
But yeah, it never made sense of why there was
weapon upgrades in in the you know, in the real
world of Twisted Metal, we just accepted that they were
hidden in boxes or buildings or whatever.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah, but even without all of that knowledge, like I'm
still having a good enough time, Like yeah, like this
is a this is a weird dystopian level like city
of a guy lording it over everybody else. Of course
he's gonna have really crazy weapons, modified weapons that he's
(06:53):
selling at a premium. That the way too, that he's
auctioning off even the way to get them is like
oh well, I mean he didn't ever say actually what
he was actually how much he's octioning in all four,
but like, yeah, he's it's to this high class bither
of these cities, not to the people, the regular people
(07:16):
out on the show floor. It says cities that are
getting these these high dollar weapons, you know. So because
I think at one point, one of the sellers was
talking about how uh New San Francisco used one of
the dispersing missiles to get rid of all of the
(07:38):
homeless outside of the city gates, which telling that to
John and he was just like, I'm sorry, what was happening,
Like what like those people just trying to make a
living and they did what. So yeah, it's it's even
not having all of the background knowledge that you have,
I'm still enjoying the story. They're telling because it's still
(07:59):
you're you're not only keeping the loyal fans with all
of like you said, the Easter eggs and the inches
that way, but you're still telling a compelling story that
keeps somebody like me involved and and following.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
You know. Yeah, And I think also I wonder if
there's a little part of them that sits there and
says people are gonna make comments of like well, why
does why does this gun how? Or why do you know?
Why does this missile exist? Or why how did they
get these and stuff? So just doing the entire episode
that explains logically why all these things are here. And
even John is like, it's a missile that comes back
(08:38):
to me. That's like a it's like really don't.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Like he he yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
He's like he hates that idea. But I love that
they put that in there, because it's just like, yeah,
it's a missile that comes back to you. That's a
really bad idea. Why was this ever a thing? But more,
you know, uh.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Like she even says like, oh, it's a ghost missile
that means you can go through walls and why it's
like all missiles go through walls. Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Oh man, I I I absolutely, Yeah. I think they
also tease the homing missiles. I think so, I think so, I.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Know, I think they didn't talk about, but there was
a couple that they showed that. Yeah, just in like
the background.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, homing missiles and a power missile. I I feel
like I remember the power missile, which famously, uh the
most devastating but only shot completely straight. A fire missile
would it would sometimes lock on, but not really. Homing
missiles absolutely would lock on. You didn't need to even
have the person in your in your crosshairs to fire
it a lot of the time. Yeah, and the power
(09:45):
the power missile was awesome because it was just a
straight missile. It would go forward and uh regularly would
just miss. It was a piece of it was just
a piece of crap, waste of a missile. Uh infuriating,
But yeah, so yeah, they and we also get a
lot of really interesting uh kind of like how the
politics work in this universe where you know, everybody has
(10:09):
to follow rules whether they like him or not, except
for apparently sweet Tooth. Well and that's what and that's
okay because he's got Dracula's cape.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
I So yeah, Sweet Tooth and stew are in the city.
They're trying to find new weapons, and Sweet Tooth the
entire time is like, oh, I think I can kill
somebody here. I think I can get away with it.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
And Stu is like, no, that's against the rules. And
they're snipers everywhere, and.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
For it, like to prove a point, somebody tries to
steal something and he gets sniped right away, and and
Sweet Tooths just like, oh no, that's just that's just
a challenge. I'm just gonna prove I can do this.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
I once again, I love this Sweet Tooth. Is this
like lawful evil character that he has. He has his
set code and he has his own rules, but he
abides by his own rules, like he not only holds
himself accountable, but also Stu accountable for like the rules
that he has established. Uh, and he is you know,
(11:16):
he's still unbelievably loyal to Stu because Stu's loyal to him.
And also, dude, how excited he is for him that
he could, you know, did his first massacre.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Like yeah, yeah, Like I.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Absolutely love how just like happy he is. But but
then we also kind of get that like friend like
kind of that frank conflict with these two because because
that's because Sweet Tooth spent all the money high game
so he could kill everybody. And then he's just like
that was really selfish. We needed that for ammunition, and
(11:53):
Sweet just be like, you know what, You're right, I
fucked up. I'm really sorry. Like I just I love.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Because of immediately after, we got a couple of guards
that come in and take stew away. Yeah, it's just
like because he been he had been picked, well he
gets picked by the emperor for a sex thing. But yeah,
uh and so I also love that while that's happening,
Sweet dude is just like has his cape up like
(12:20):
Dracula to hide himself. He's like, yeah, well I'm gonna
go do other things. So but I mean, I really hope.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
That they keep playing into the fact I know he
doesn't have the cape later on.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
The next episode, so I'm like, yeah, they're gonna have
the cape.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
I really hope the cape comes back that every time
he's not in his vehicle, he's got his cape and
people actually are just like, wait, where'd he go? Like
it is actually yeah, it actually like disguises him or something.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, we've got that going on. We've got Dollphace. So
the whole point is John and Quiet need to get
to the vault in Diesel City to get all of
the weapons so that they can steal all the weapons.
Dolphace has to get to the control room to unlock
(13:15):
the unlock the vault for them. While she's on her
way there, sweet Tooth comes like follows her and ultimately
like knocks out slash kills a couple of guards with her,
and they kind of form a bond. Reliant sweet Tooth
like impressed with the way she is killing people. Ye,
(13:39):
and so like they make their way up to the
control room until they find an EMP generator and then
it's all help excluse because that would be a game
changer in the tournament, and uh, you know it becomes
a you know, whether it take all, whoever you get
that EMP is gonna have an upper hand in the tournament.
(14:04):
And I do like how that is happening the least
you are fighting while well that's going on, we have
John and Quiet who have stumbled into a orgy.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Yeah, which is the this is where a lot of
the politics happened and where we yeah, we learn a
lot about like what is happening. Also was not expecting
the the graphicness of that orgy. Uh yeah, just so yeah,
all of a sudden, we kind of like I guess,
I guess we did watch John and Quiet bang in
(14:38):
the in the ballpit, but that didn't I felt like
they did a fairly decent job of not showing a
lot of stuff, like you may have.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Seen an ass cheek or two, but like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
It just was like it just took me by surprise.
It felt a little bit more pg. Thirteen then I.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Was expecting or something. Yeah, still any bits, but like
I said, he but that's that's about it.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah, I guess he could get away, but yeah, I
just it took me by surprise. I don't know, I
was I guess I wasn't expecting it. But uh yeah,
they they they end up with this orgy because they
didn't really know what they were walking into, I guess.
But more importantly, this is where Mayhem came in to help,
because she pick pocketed I guess, or or soul anyway.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Not specified, but she got to get into the back
room and they these passes sort of look like these.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Two yep, sort of, which is very funny because even
they get they even get called out by the cane
or what. I don't Yeah, I don't remember his name.
Uh yeah, dude, that that's a cameo of somebody, but
I could not recognize who he was. But I felt
(16:01):
like that was an important that was like an important carrot,
like a cameo, but I don't know who he was anyway. Uh,
that's where we find out that like essentially there's like
they start to question what's going on because the two
passes that they grabbed are people that are represented of
(16:22):
like two cities that are like a feuding with each
other the whole time. Yea. So I really liked that
as like a concept of like, oh, how do we
explain now why we're here doing this? And the King
was like so excited that he gets to kind of
be the like mediator for peace talks a little bit here,
(16:43):
which was really funny. But yeah, a lot of people
are just like there's a lot of those like, uh, oh,
we think we've been caught psych ha haha, everything's a joke.
I will say the bit got a little old. The
bit got a little old for me because they did
it maybe five or six times throughout the episode. Outside
(17:07):
of that, though, like that's my only critique was like, Okay,
we got the joke, let's move on from the joke.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeah, but then I mean when they get into the
hallway proper into the vault, and then yeah, they both
are like being over sexualized to each other getting to
the vault, like when she's killing the guy and then
he's yea to the lasers and it's just like, we
get it, you guys want to bang.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Yeah, and then they proceed to Yeah, well, the entire
place is exploding and falling apart.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I will like I did laugh at that, Like I
laughed when he's like when when Quiet's like, hey, we
got like Dolphe said, we need to get in and out,
and he's like, don't worry, I'll be done in like
two minutes, and proceeds to go for like five or
something because the whole place is burning around him.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, just completely exploding around Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
But yeah, but while that's happening, though, we you know
Mention stew he got brought into the orgy as he
got picked as a you know, you said sacrifice kind
of a sacrifice, but it was yeah, I guess it
was more of a he was supposed to be the
the I don't know, somebody from the outside. He got
(18:22):
picked as a pleasure something or other.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Yeah, or like I guess he won, he won something. Yeah.
They were like they were like playing it off that
he like won, but ultimately.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Like, yeah he got he got chose to be part
of this orgy, so he got to have sex with
a bunch of beautiful women.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Which was like at that at one point He's just like,
I cannot have sex anymore. Yeah, I cannot do this.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Somehow, he got out, wanders down the vault while the
rest of the group is having sex, sees John and
Quiet screwing in the vault and it was like, oh, ship,
that's a bunch of weapons here. Grabs all the weapons
up out of the vault and then leaves and then yeah,
proceeds to go back into the orgy, gets called up
(19:09):
of the Emperor as like like no, you like he
he I think. The Empress says, uh, it's like you
you go to rob me when I gave you what
he said, gave you the pleasure of flesh, and Stud's like, well,
you didn't fuck me. I fucked you, and then proceeds
to to master them, which is ye, which was awesome.
(19:31):
I definitely cheered for Stu at that point.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah, it was. It's kind of I really like what
they're like kind of doing with Stu in that like
last season, this is something that he would never been
able to do right, And now all of a sudden,
it's not only his do it, but he's kind of
like digging it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
He saw in the first episode when he went to
attack the one guy, he definitely missed every part, but
he did attack him. He had no problem stabbing the guy.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Yeah, he missed every he missed every vital organ. Yeah yeah, yeah,
it's time seventeen times, but you miss everyone.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
But now yeah, he's straight up with a AKS just
killing everybody.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Yeah, just mos everybody down. But you know it's it's
important to find your like niche yeah, and murdering people,
you know.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
But I do want to bring up Mayhem because I
want to point out, like the whole point of getting
into Diesel City is that you have to barter to
get in, Like the way that anybody gets in is
you pay tribute, like you offer gas and then you
get tokens to get in. And yet Mayhem just wanders in.
(20:41):
She somehow was able to get into Diesel City no problem.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah. I think the theory is that she's, like I mean,
she is the She's the rogue of the group, you
know what I mean, Like that's her ability to like
get in and do stuff, unless because she didn't walk
in with them right.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
When they supposed to be the wheelman, she was supposed
to stay out, and once they got out with all
the weapons, she was supposed to be take the cars.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
She was supposed to be the driver, right, but she
was there inside with the passes. She also, while Dolphace
and Sweet Tooth are fighting over the EMP, she comes
up to help Dolphace get the EMP and once she
gets it, she tossed it to Mayhem and Mayhem goes
(21:34):
running out with the MP. SO and I brought this
up last time. I think she's a plant by Calypso,
and I that feeling becomes stronger when we get into
episode five.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Correct. Yeah, I I there's a part of me that
just thinks that, like, she may be a plant by Calypso,
but I still think that she has ulterior motives even
within that for herself.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Yeah, but I definitely think she is. She's working with Calypso.
I think she's definitely working with Calypso too, kind of
so mayhem, so chaos within everybody.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Yeah yeah, I mean Calypso has never been known as
a good person. Uh and often is like uh, you know,
whether it's the game or or the series. Like Calypso
is a man to not be trusted, Like he's giving
everybody this like this offer, in this this thing, in
this opportunity. But he's not a he's not a guy
(22:41):
to be trusted. Obviously, he has an ulterior motive too,
Like we don't know why he's doing this yet, we
haven't actually figured that out other than I guess he
can because he's somebody you know, important.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
So well, like we know he in the last season,
he's got resources. Yeah, we know that. Obviously he's got
this season, he still has the resources. He was able
to turn on the electricity to everybody. He spent the
message of the tournament to everybody. So he's got he's
(23:14):
got something. He's got magic, he's got something. We've seen
some supernatural abilities from mister Grimm, so something's potent, potentially
at least.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
From his from his point, we can see supernatural abilities.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
But yeah, so but that's ultimately the outside of doll
face getting on a TV. There's really nothing else, uh
in this.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
TV was interesting? Yeah, yeah, I just like, that's not
a thing in the games or anything.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
It's not that.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
But yeah, it's not the summer also, so it's not
here's not here at all yet.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
And you know we brought up you brought up during
season one with Twister. We see in the next episode
he's not part of the group, So maybe I was
mistaken that she's not gonna be in this season, which.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
You know, yeah, it kind of sucks because I really
liked her as a character and I really like her vehicle.
I was really hoping we'd get to see a tornado
the same time.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
That is a plot point, a plot thread left, you know,
open from the right.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Well, and as we get into season or as we
get into episode five, they're trying to like sew up
some of the plot points didn't get carried over. I
thought it was interesting what they what they chose to
do in season five or in episode five. Uh So
we get into episode five and now everybody is kind
(24:42):
of showing up to the warehouse where they're supposed to
be and we're introduced to essentially all of the racers,
right or all of the contestants. It's kind of interesting.
This is all race based, and Twist Metal has never
been race based.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
This is like, this is the preliminaries, though like right
right does show off. He's like like, this isn't the tournament. Yeah,
it's it's you have to take this package, deliverate to wherever,
like right to that place over yonder and then the
terminal will start.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Right which, uh you know, and also Calypso establishes the rules. Well,
first off, we're introduced to Calypso, which was very funny.
Calypso the door the warehouse, Yeah, hangar, doors open, and
Clypso is standing there and they're all like, is he waiting?
(25:37):
He's gonna wait, he's waiting, Okay, he's gonna wait till
the door's open, Okay, all right. Like that, I feel
like if if there was ever a moment where the
boys chat was in a show, it would be this
of us just roasting.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Calypso will be like yeah, all right, well still cool, It's.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Still cool, all right, I can't argue with this guy,
like yeah, and then even like when John, even John's
trying to like give him guff. But then when Clips
was going through his spiel, he's he's like, all right,
so here's what the rules are. Like rule number one,
you're gonna take this package, but it's your vehicle. You're
gonna drive this way. And then rule number two, all's
(26:17):
fair on the on the drive over, you can die whatever.
And by the time you get there, like the third
rule is if you make it there, you're safe. No
killing once you get there, but anything goes once you
on your way there kind of thing like you have
ten like ten seconds to prepare and he starts counting down.
(26:40):
They're all just kind of standing there and he's like
ten nine. He starts like egging them on to like
start going, and you're like, oh, oh yeah, show me
he does. He actually did put a good show.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. I like I really like
Calypso and this is very interesting. This is definitely to
some middle two to three version of Clipso, which I
like a lot. So all the drivers that we that
we are introduced to. We get junk Yard, which is
(27:16):
a tow truck guy who's they kept his special which
is that he can throw his uh I don't know
what it is, mace ball hook thing, uh, which is
kind of cool. I think originally he had a car
that would launch and he could throw the car instead.
But what I still think it's.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Cool every time it's probably.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yeah, it doesn't make it didn't it doesn't make any
sense car, Yeah, but I kind of like the wrecking
ball aspect kind of thing I thought was cool. Axel
shows up, which we get interaction between Axel and uh
uh dolphase where she is she's good and real hard,
(28:00):
yeah she is, and also but also still concerned that
he's still drinking gasoline, which really really odd. But hey,
yeah it's very strange, but I guess it works for him.
I mean it's he looks great, so you know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
But if he got you know, made into some sort
of vehicle, maybe that's what he needs to survive.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Now, Yeah, very possible. We get roadkill still obviously. Uh
Raven shows up.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah that was surprising.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, so they don't. Does she really explain why she's there?
I mean, or just like another opportunity to potentially win
if John's working for her too.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Also John's working with dolphins now well for himself. Well, no,
John's with Dolphins, right, because he's not working with Raven anymore.
He left Raven.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Okay, I wasn't sure if Raven actually knew that.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
No she miss well because no she did, because she's like,
you know, you you refuse to drive for me to
be in this tournament, but here you are in this
tournament anyway.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Gotcha? Okay, I missed that part. I missed that that dialogue. Yeah,
so Raven's there. So Raven shows up, which is interesting.
I like that.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Why It's like, man, that's not the same Raven. And
he's like, yeah, there's like a bunch of them. She's
like yeah, and she's like but she's still hot, Like yeah,
they all are.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Yeah. I liked how like they're all surprised by it.
He's just like kind of annoyed. Yeah, there's like a
million of them. We got Sweet Tooth, she too shows up.
We've got I guess the representation for the Preacher. Yeah,
the holy Man, yes, which I guess is supposed to
be Brimstone. Now I guess it's their version of Brimstone,
(29:53):
which I kind of dig. Okay, super awesome. I love
that like they're they're trying to know it up because
they couldn't get the original actor back, that he may
have died and been reincarnated as a baby.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
That's a that's a really big baby.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
So either he's.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Growing quickly and that could explain how he would come
back in season three potentially, or I don't know, but yeah,
like I did laugh at that. That one was kind
of interesting real quick.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Where did they put the baby? That's what did they do, Joey,
What did they do with the baby?
Speaker 1 (30:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
I don't know either. I'm a little concerned about the baby.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
I mean, we did see him in a car seat, yep.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Yep, we do, okay, so he's in the car good good, yep?
Speaker 1 (31:01):
And then who who else was there?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Vermin? That's right, so I ren Vermin is apparently from
maybe the So there's like a version of Twisted Metal
that I think it was made for like PSP or something,
or like or Vita, like the one of the handheld
PlayStation things that was like all like they were toys.
They were all toy scale and Calypso was like essentially
(31:29):
sid from like toy story was like was essentially the thing.
And I yeah, I think it may yeah, I think
Mayhem and the Bugmobile is from that, but maybe they're
in three two. I don't remember, but but yeah, and
then there was the other one specter. I think it's
(31:50):
the other vehicle, the Asian dude.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Yeah, yeah, because he was after Mayhem, right, yeah, hardcore.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Yeah. And Mayhem finally gets her own vehicle.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, she takes Dolphace because Dolphace has got the a
t V now yep.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Which is funny because all of a sudden she is
a pro driver.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Again.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
It makes it makes me think, Yeah, it makes me
think that she knew how to drive the whole time,
and she was just trying to build, like trying to
develop that trust. Right, Like obviously Quiet attaches herself to
people that she feels that she can help, and she
air quotes helped Mayhem learn to drive, so therefore she
(32:37):
has that attachment. Yeah, shout out to my shout out
to my ex.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Uh so there's a.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Up. Yeah, mister shows up, which is like hilarious because
everyone's like.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Uh what like, but then you know, sweet Tooth has
a history with mister Graham.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Yes, we find out. I guess they were the same
asylum or put him in the asylum something like that.
So I'm hoping we get more development of that.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Trying to kill.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Yeah, he wanted Grim to which there's nothing I love
more than the accuracy of this show to the game,
which is the secondary machine gun weapons can't hit the
broadside of a barn and when they do, they do
absolutely no damage. Yeah. I was hysterical watching uh sweet
(33:35):
Tooth unload two chain guns into uh try to hit
mister Grimm and mister Graham apparently just not even trying. Yeah,
just It's more, it was not that he was good
at evading. It was a sweet Tooth couldn't hit the
broad side of a barn if he wanted to. Yeah,
it's interesting. So like mister Grim, Axel doll face, all
(33:57):
three of them have essentially no armor. Uh that if
a if a, I mean Axel kind of is able
to like shift and move himself to like block bullets
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Yeah, but yeah, from one target when you got like
twelve targets coming after you though, like yeah, from multiple
different angles, I don't know, dude.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Yeah, it was. It was very interesting. But uh so
I think that's everybody. I think it was a.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Couple others. I mean there was one guy who gets
shot like immediately before he went off. Yeah, that, I mean,
that's a plot point.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
So that is that the vehicle, Wait, is that the
vehicle Mayheim takes.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
That's what she opts to do because Quiet pulled the
like the starter out of the bug. Yeah, so that
she could because she's trying to keep Mayhem out of
the race.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
And so we need a vehicle for for Mayhem to drive,
and so she sees that she hops into that one
and comes in. But I thought there was one. Oh, oh,
we forgot Mike. Mike is alive.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Oh that's right. Mike is running with somebody or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
His name is David, Yeah, one of the butchers.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Correct. But he's like super nice. He's like super nice
and raves about how great Stu is. He's like, oh yeah,
I know all about it. Mike talks great about you man,
like gud, you're a lot. It's it's very.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Funny, Dave and yeah, talking with Michael and then up
walks sweet Tooth. It's like, wait, you're still with him.
I thought you got away from him. You you just
you haven't changed a bit. It's like, yeah, wait, talked
about he's changed tremendously.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah, it's changed tremendously. He's actually a completely different person. Yeah.
But I also love that Stu is like a little jealous, right, Yes,
I love that he's like a little bit jealous of mine,
and you know, because they were, they were the original
friends that essentially fell off, right Yeah. Man. So it's
(36:09):
so well put together and well written. I love it. Well.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
It was also who's the eyepatch guy? I can't remember
the eye patch guy?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Is that that was drunk Yard?
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Was that Jack Yard?
Speaker 2 (36:19):
I think that was drunk Yard. Yeah. Yeah, I'm very
excited to see where they go kind of with all
of the care because that was this was a fairly
large info dump in a short amount of time of
characters that I think they're trying to set up essentially
for the next season or for the next next episodes.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
But the other the other big thing about this is though,
before Calypso shows up, we get Mayhem walking around basically
like I said, sewing Mayhem pitting everybody against each other,
basically whispering in everybody's ear, Oh, this person said this
about you. This person said that about you, Like she's
(37:00):
trying to stoke problems within like in fighting to pit
everybody against each other, and Quiet recognizes that, and she
tries to confront her, be like, hey, you need to
stop this. This is actually going to get you killed.
You're trying to You're putting a target on your back.
Everybody's gonna come after you. And essentially, you know, this
(37:23):
is why she tries to stop her from entering. She
she pulls the starter out from the cars to try
and keep her out, which again doesn't happen, doesn't do
anything because when, like I said before, when the one
guy gets shot and killed before, right at the beginning
(37:43):
and everybody is off, Mayhem just gets out of her
car and hops in that one and then takes off.
And the whole thing is is that Calypso wants everybody
to take this package from this warehouse across this desert
area to whatever city is across the way and deliver it.
(38:06):
The thing about the pactice is, though, is once we
learned is that obviously I mean, they gets if it
gets damaged, it's a no go. It's a problem.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
There's like a sensor.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
On them, yeah, a sensor and a like a tracking yes,
So I don't know if it gets damaged too much
it blows up, or if it's a if it gets
damaged too much, a missile hits it. I can't remember
which maybe both, uh.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
If it gets yeah, if if it gets damaged too much.
It seemed like a missile. Yeah, because it was like
a like an ordinance strake home, gotcha yeah, uh yeah, man,
it's their health bar. It's genius. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
love I love that idea. That was like, okay, so
(38:56):
you gotta protect the package and it has kind of
like a health bar aspect to where if like a
straight bullet hits it or wounds it in some way,
it like, you know, the lights change, which I thought
was really interesting, but it was really cool concept. And
we see that happen with John and Quiet. Theirs goes
from green to yellow and then goes yellow to red
(39:17):
and if it hits red, then yellow.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
And there was somebody else who went because I saw
sweet tooths and stews when I can't remember who was
attacking them. Some of these straight shot hits it and
it goes from in the yellow and I'm like, oh,
that can't be good. Somebody else's goes green to yellow
and then yellow the red red.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Yeah, I feel like he blows up somebody blows up.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
I don't remember a couple people get blown up. Well yeah,
but yeah, like somebody goes to red and we see
a missile striker and yeah, they're they're gone.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
But then essentially, whoever was the last person who was
attacking Mayhem before the race started, basically getting all up
in her face, has got like a is like hardcore
car smashing her, and she uses the flare gun to
(40:17):
try and like get away from him, which shoots up
in the air, and Quiet sees it and like there
front of the pack almost and knows is She sees
it as like, well, I can't go back, like I
have to stick to this race, Like I can't, I
can't turn around. But she wants to turn around, and John,
(40:40):
being the good guy he is, he's like, all right here,
let me drive. So they slot places and he turns around.
He makes the decision to go save Mayhem.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Yeah. Yeah, it's it'll be interesting to see how this
plays out moron more through the through the show of
like John potentially building resemment towards Quiet because she's not
willing to essentially make the decisions and so he just
has to do it. At least that's That's what I'm
(41:16):
wondering because we've seen this kind of happen before, right.
We saw that happen a little bit in season one
where he was kind of like making the decisions and
then kind of getting annoyed with Quiet when because he says,
you know, he's doing this for them, doing a lot
of this for them.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Well, she was making She wasn't making the the the
safe decisions, not the safe decisions, the long term decisions. Yeah,
Like she was making the quick now decisions like trying
to kill Stone. Like her her whole plan is to
(41:53):
go to Nebraska take care of Stone.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
Oh, which we also forgot to to mention in episode four,
the the Nights Some Nights went through and took care
of all the lawmen and Topeka.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Yeah, apparently cleaned out the lawman. I'm not going to
see them anymore, Yeah, which is a shame. I really
like the I like them as a character, and like
I thought they were kind of interesting. Uh, but that
was just to Peka. Lawman are everywhere, right, But that
(42:28):
doesn't I mean they they still have that like little
like you know, hook of like, well that was Topeka.
We actually have headquarters other places too.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
Now, remember Sweet Tooth was going around taking out all
the other bases, right, So, like I'm.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Just saying they could they could still Yes, let me
have this, Joey, let me have out Law.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
What I'm saying, and I'm not out Law himself could
still come just himself. But what I'm saying is Lawman
the Lawman are probably gone. Outlaw just Outlaw himself could show.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Up, right potentially.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Yeah, honestly, Like I'm still enjoying it. The fact that
we it took five episodes to just get to the
preliminaries of the tournament is weird, but.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Yeah, I mean they had, they had to build some story.
I'm really hoping that now it's just going to be
action action action action action. But again we have to
remember it's unbelievably expensive for them to shoot his combat scenes. Uh,
but you know what, but at the same time, that
ending scene was like what maybe ten minutes of the
(43:51):
episode and it was awesome. Yeah, yeah, like it was
rad as hell. So yeah, I'm I'm optimistic that they
will keep that They're going to keep this energy and like,
now it's started, right, the preliminaries have happened, they get
to the end of it. For the most part, I
(44:14):
think episode six is probably just gonna pick right up
where this left off in the episode five, and they'll
probably finish it out and then they'll have a little
chatty chat of like what happens after this. And you know,
we launched the term because there's only there's.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
There's twelve episodes. We've got three weeks left because it's
doing next week, we'll got two episodes. A week after
it's two episodes, and then the final week is three
so okay, yeah, by the end of the month will help.
I mean, look, I've seen weird the schedules, so.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Yeah, yeah, no, they gotta be. They gotta be pushing
something out. It's again I think it's it's gotta be.
Uh they're trying to get this out before something else
comes out and takes away their advertising or something.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
But I mean, the I know Peacock has uh soccer football,
Uh yeah, so they you know that's coming up here soon.
I think that's starting up. Actually, the the Premier League
starts up here. It's coming fall, so that's pretty big.
But that's also weekend. But that's like Saturday Sunday, so
(45:21):
that's not Yeah, during the week.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Who knows, who knows, but no, I'm loving it. I
know you're obviously you're a fan of it.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Yeah, yeah, this is It's still like even if you
don't love Twisted Metal, this is still a good show.
Speaker 1 (45:37):
Like so, as of now, we're only we're just about
halfway through the season.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
M m hm.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
Where would you rank this in video game adaptations of.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Uh? So? I it's funny if you ask me that,
because I'm a guy who doesn't care if it is
true to the I don't want to watch the thing
I've already played. That's always been my friend, right, so
I'm I'm good with them changing things. I think that
this is really good and that they kept a lot
(46:18):
of the elements right. They didn't change a lot. There's
still vehicular combat, there's still the goofiness and silliness of
what made this made the series good in my eyes.
They even are doing a really good fan service of like, hey,
here's the silly ammunition, here's the characters that you loved.
The vehicles, for the most part, are always accurate to
(46:40):
the you know, original things. I would put this in
the high eights, you know what I mean of? Like
out of ten for like accuracy. There's not a ton
of tournaments right now, you know, there's a lot of
racing going on and stuff. I probably would have said
this less so in season one, you know, middle of
the Road, they still doing a lot, but there was
(47:01):
no tournament or.
Speaker 4 (47:01):
Anything than right, right, But but it still made sense
and and still was like it still had the elements, uh,
and we knew that there was something happening, and we
knew that something was coming. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I would say I think this is I think this
is a really good adaptation of what they could do
(47:25):
because ultimately Twisted Metal, again, Twisted Metal as a franchise
is very simplistic, and they're doing a really good job
of making a world. They're world building here, which is
something that Twisted Medal has never done.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
They never really world build before.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
So yeah, I'm enjoying it from what I can recall
of Twisted Metal of the games, which is awesomely not
a lot. I'm enjoying what I'm saying. It is definitely
high up there for me as for adaptations. But I'll
ask again at the end of the season. So yeah,
we actually again when we actually get a tournament and
(48:01):
actually get some more action.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
I will put it this way, I am really loving this,
but I am very much on the fence of how
this is gonna end sure, because they could really jump
the shark on this and it will super bummy.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
In three more weeks, let's see what happens.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
Yeah, but I am excited, and I'm also super curious
if this this has not been greenlit for a season
three yet not yet.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
I think it's gonna depend on numbers.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Because I'm very curious because I forgot Twisted Metal Black
is all in the mind of Sweet Tooth, so I'm
interested to Yeah, I forgot that, Like that's the whole premise,
is that when you beat Twisted, when you beat Sweet
Tooth story, you find out that the whole the whole
thing was like kind of in his brain. It was
(48:50):
like his kind of like idea, not idea, but like
his concept and stuff of like how he sees the world.
So I'm curious to see if the lean more into
that as the show gets kind of more serious and silly,
like we are definitely into the Medal one to the
Medal two era of stuff and the silliness and campiness. Yeah, Okay, Yeah,
(49:12):
it's good.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
I look forward to seeing that. So yeah, man, Chuck,
thank you for coming out here where they can find you.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Hey, you know where you can find me. You can
find me on the comic book rundown Feed. Every Friday,
I'm over there. We're reviewing movies. Uh, if you're not
listening to it, what are you doing? You know, bea
b pals, be super hyped and awesome and go check
that out. And more importantly, at the end the last
(49:41):
Sunday of every month, I'm going to get this eventually,
I promise. The last Sunday of every month, Joey and
I do a little show we'd like to call getting
Franchised the latest and greatest in movie franchises we have.
We are coming towards an end of season one where
we have been just reviewing horror franchises where we took
the greatest movie and the latest movie remake that they did.
(50:04):
Kind of things are getting a little weird, and we
have been watching some really really let's say, good movies. Uh,
go check the archive, go check them all out. We
did things like hell Raiser, My Bloody Valentine, Suspiria. That
was a thing we that was a thing. We will
be coming out soon, come out soon. Yeah uh, And
(50:28):
we watched what's about our favorite one? So far? I
don't even couldn't even tell you because we've been enjoying
it so much. That's where you can find me at
and then if you want to check out my miniature hobby,
I think.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Favorite will be coming in November. But that's besides the point.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
You're not right, you're not You're probably not wrong. But
that being said, you can find me if you want
to check out all my miniature painting stuff. Kicked out
of the hobby knowing and kicked where I'm painting up. Hey,
I'm gearing up for the for the Halloween time, for
the spooky season. I'm painting up a little game called
Don't Look Back, which is a throwback. It is a
(51:04):
miniature almost board game esque style thing where it's a
slasher Man and there's a million expansions of Shout out
to Black Black Site Studios for hooking me up with
all that stuff, so thank you for them. Joey, Thanks man,
This was Joey as always.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
As always, Chuck, thank you for again for coming on
and we will catch you on next time.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
Bye.
