Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, so we've got.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Some beautiful, wonderful trailers, and I'll let you start. I
know where I'm gonna start, but I'm gonna let you
take us in on the trailers.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
What do you want to run with?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Okay, I'm not gonna lie this. We may not have
had any Star Wars trailers here, but this was a
bad batch, if you know what I mean. This was
not a prime selection of trailers in terms of in
terms of my excitement level. So I guess the first
one i'll I will highlight is one that I actually
(00:35):
think looks really great, and the rest, you know, not
so great. Is a movie called Eternity. Eternity is a
I guess you'd call it a drama, sci fi ese
sort of thing, fantasy something like that. Highlight on the
drama though with with Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen and
then another guy that I'm not sure or who are
(00:55):
kind of in a bit of a love triangle.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
The premise is that when you die, you get to
choose one person who you gonna spend eternity with. Elizabeth
Olsen's character has, you know, a newer husband, but then
she had a husband from many many years ago, and
they're both kind of waiting there for her, and so
she kind of picked between them, and it seems like
it's gonna be a really emotional journey. I think this
looks really great. I like that. I like the premise.
(01:18):
It seems like just silly enough, but obviously like most
just mostly a ton of potential for some really heartbreaking stuff,
and obviously her I'm gonna make a decision at the
end there. I don't think we're gonna get some weird
twists where the two guys end up choosing each other
and she's left on her own. I don't think we're
gonna get something like that, something weird. But I think
this looks. This looks really solid. I haven't seen Elizabeth
(01:39):
Oldsen than anything recently, so I'm excited to check this
one out, I think. And it seems like a fun
role for Miles Teller as well. So this is probably
the top of the heap for me.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I would say, Oh, I don't know if it's top
for me, but it looks it looks fun. I think
there's a interesting kind of idea that isn't attached to here,
where yeah, you know you're dead and you get to
choose kind of where you want to go, and you
got these I guess spirits that are like advertising, like,
hey you want to come try this out?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Da da. You know, you gotta be careful which path
you picked. But yeah, I think I think it's gonna
have a very wholesome, kind of good kind of.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Vibe to it.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
It's just it's I was trying to understand the time
dilation component of this because like, he just died, and
the Elizabeth Olsen looks like she just died, but then
her previous husband was waiting around, but it looked like
their photo was like decades ago. So was she reincarnated
or something? Like?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I just I wasn't sure.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, I don't know. Maybe when you die you get
put back in like your quote unquote prime, you know,
so maybe she was like seventy when she died, but
they put her back in like her hot like forty
year a ball. I don't know how old Elizabeth Olten is,
but you know, put her back in like her prime.
You know. Maybe that's what it is because everyone was
there any old people in there or were they all
kind of like there's a couple I think, but not
(03:01):
really not elderly, but maybe those people were in their
prime when they were seventy, you know, maybe they had
a really rough life and that was actually there when
they were their highest physical health peak. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, good point. I don't know the rules.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, but yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to it. Nonetheless, Yeah, uh,
do you want me to pick the next one?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Or where do you want to go?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Let's let's let's ping pong this bad boy you go.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Okay, I'm gonna pick it's Welcome to Darry because holy criky,
I did not realize another trailer came out. I remember
the first trailer that they dropped, and that one got
me pretty jazz. But this one, oh my gosh, it
really did it. I I Madison is She's she gets
(03:50):
on my case about it, because usually once the fall
rules around Halloween, she's like, okay, let's watch it's chapter one.
It's chapter one, and she'll she'll watch it chapter two
as well. But we kind of fall off'll pass out
watching that one because it's not as refined as that
first one. That first one is some genuine quality and
I love that movie so very much. This trailer and
(04:11):
what we got shown here it gave me it chapter
one quality vibes.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I do really really liking it. It just seems freaking yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I need you to explain that to me, because I
to me, this looked like kind of little budget, didn't
look great. So I'm curious what it is about this
that really puts you on that tier. Like to me,
thinking back to even those first trailers, those just wowed
and this just doesn't seem anywhere near that to me.
So I'm curious what I'm missing.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
My fear is that the story. I hope it's not
going to be really dragged on.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I hope it's gonna be pretty like concise to the
point and gets the message across. But the things that
really sold me was just certain cinematic moments in this trailer.
The jar pickles and you see this hand rolling around
in there, and other shots too where they're looking out
the window and you see just the silhouette of Pennywise
standing there, and that's prob Maybe I'm a little biased,
but the fact that Scar's guard is coming back is
(05:03):
Penny Wise. I am properly biased for it. He's just
a fantastic villain and him coming back for that is great.
But there's just the eeriness and just the town feeling
more toxic and disturbed than it did before in the movies.
This time it just feels like everyone is just sick
(05:25):
and yeah, just.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Disgruntled. Something is unhealthy and like infecting this.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Planet and another this town not planet. The other thing
that I'm really really looking forward to is getting maybe
a little bit more backstory and just like the Turtle
and how all, there's this whole kind of overarching narrative
that we don't really understand or know about when it
comes to Penny Wise, because I think the turtle is
this entity, this celestial thing that he's afraid of, and
(05:54):
you have other components kind of involved too, and yeah
it's it's a can of worms. But I don't know
a lot about the story, but I want to learn more,
and I think this is going to do a good
job at kind of showing us more information about Penny
Wise as this celestial kind of entity.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Right, because I mean, what is it thirty years? Is
that he comes back every thirty years? Is that the
timeframe twenty years? Thirty? Was it thirty?
Speaker 1 (06:17):
I think it's thirty, I'll confirm.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, So this this is a prequel I guess, right,
like to our to the movies that we got. Yeah, yeah,
so it's like the thirty year period before I guess
its Chapter one is essentially the setting here, So yeah,
there's potentially, but obviously that means we're not getting any
other characters other than Scars bar. But it's funny. When
I was watching the trailer, to me, it felt like
kind of budget, Like the visuals didn't look top knowledge.
(06:41):
Some of the coloration looked kind of weird, which you know,
maybe that stuff will look different when when the show's
actually out, But getting Scars got is one of the
things that feels like, oh, yeah, okay, there is budget
hearer's care and attention to detail, but yeah, I don't know.
I guess I have to see it to believe it
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
So twenty seven years you're putting spot on with that, Yeah, yeah,
because you're not.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
A big horror TV show guy, right, Like you're not
watching the Blind Manners in the Hillhouses and all these
kinds of things.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Right, No, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
And it's just because I feel like a lot of
them just have a really really slow kind of burn
to them, but.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
This, this will probably have a pretty slow burn, Like
I don't even know if you like, really the end,
like maybe the last cars guard, you just get like
jars of pickles and stuff, you know, and just flying
around in the bayou.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
And that's all you yet. Yeah, just one balloon.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I'm afraid that this might just be a bit of
a slow burn. But lately I feel like I'm kind
of I'm I'm engaging with that good story and that's
kind of filling up my my hunger for you know,
not just the scare jumps and the creepy that kind
of creepy stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
And I think that.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
There's so many creepy kind of esthetics and an atmosphere
that's emanating from at least the trailer and all these
different scenes that it's kind of like reeling me in
a little bit. But you're right, I don't think we'll
probably see penny Wise at least to like the penultimate
episode or maybe the finale. Right, you'll see his little
minions and his little weird little shin digs that he's doing.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, but I mean, maybe this I don't know if
this is a binge or weekly drop, but if it
is binge dropped, then that's not too big of a deal.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You know, Oh, it's HBO, isn't it five episodes?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I think is what I saw?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Five episodes.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
If it's if it's coming on Crave, then I'm willing
to bet that it's gonna be uh weekly.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
I think that's what they do.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
That's yeah, because that's so they do with Game of Thrones,
House of Dragon all that, So it makes sense. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah, it's interesting because I feel like in the previous
because we had like the TV movie right back in
the day and then the part one Part two, which
you know, covers like two different time periods. But this
seems like now we're getting the longest single project. I'm
guessing this all takes place in that one time period.
Like I don't know if we're going to do a
time jump to the twenty seven years later, right, that
(09:00):
would jump us to like the characters of Chapter one,
unless this is like two cycles back. I don't know
the math on like the timeframe of it, but I'm
guessing it's all in that one time period, like twenty
seven years before chapter one, right. Yes, Yes, that's it's
funny because I feel like every time we've had like, okay,
I guess it was like the TV movie, which is
pretty much like two movies kind of splice together in
(09:20):
the two different time period. Same thing for the newer movies.
But this is gonna be like potentially the most amount
of time screen time for like the shortest period of time,
I guess. So that'll be interesting to see, like the
kind of little details they decided to fill in there.
I wonder how much connectivity old the the later ones.
I mean, it's a long period of time. Other than
like just direct pennywise lower, I don't know what you do,
but I don't know, we'll see. For me, this is
(09:43):
definitely gonna be like a wait to see other people
watch it and then give me the review of it
and then decide if I want to watch it kind
of thing. But it sounds like you're there.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Oh, I'm there, I'm there.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I'm sure we'll be popping off and doing a review.
I'm sure Travis will be on board for for it.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
And Kirks he loves clowns. Was Kirklin a part of
the first two chapters?
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah, he was the director and writer, I believe.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Oh, of course, of course, yes, because he's a big
horror fan, big horror fan.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah, he's uh he's picking and choosy with his horror,
but I think he likes those movies. I think we
all I think we were all frothing them both for
those ones.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Right, yes, yeah, yeah? Cool? All right, which which trailer
you want to pick next?
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Okay, let's bring up this one in honor of super
Bad Mike. So we didn't originally have this on our list,
but he asked us too, So he said, could you
guys watch and talk about Spartacus House of Asher trailer?
And he also has do you have any history with
the original Spartacus show? And if not, does this trailer
make you curious about it? So? Yeah, I feel like
(10:48):
I probably talked about this maybe when we did our
Gladiator retrospective and review that, like that, those kinds of
movies like three hundred and uh, you know, the original Gladiator,
and I guess Sparta as well, Like this is not
my my realm of things. I'm very not knowledgeable and
it's not really my I perform more like fantasy things
(11:08):
than like I guess that time period in setting. Now,
Gladiator was fun to do. That original movie is really
good and anyone was fine. It was alright, But I
don't think I have it in me to watch like
an eight episode run of like a similar kind of story,
And I think the bigger, biggest reason for me is like, well, one,
I don't I think with the New Gladiators. Obviously that's
what I'm comparing it too, because that's like really my
(11:29):
only point of comparison. It's like the Battles, you know,
the scale of them, the visuals, but then also really
intriguing characters. Even from the trailers, I'm like, I want
to know what that guy's story is. I want to
know what's going on with the guy? Why is that
guy with that weird look? What's going on here? Was
going on there? And I feel like I didn't really
get that from this trailer. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone that
that I that was latched onto me. Obviously, I don't
know anything about the source of material, original, any of
(11:49):
that sort of stuff, so I'm completely in the dark.
I do think the premise, I guess like the main character.
I assume she's the main character who's kind of rising
up the ranks, and she's obviously kind of the odd
one out because she's on a man. I'm sure there's
also gonna be like a racial component to that as well,
because he's a black woman's that's like two layers that
she's maybe different than like everyone else kind of around
her in that way. And so I think there's potential
(12:10):
for a really good story there, but I don't know. Yeah,
it's not really my cup of tea necessarily, So glad
I checked the trailer because like, obviously I'm more into
this now that I've seen Gladator than I would be otherwise.
But yeah, I don't really uh think this one will
be for me. But yeah, do you have any do
you have any history with the original?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Is this?
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Uh, this one your fancy at all?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
This does?
Speaker 2 (12:32):
I don't know if I'm gonna watch it right away,
but yeah, this this show. I remember my friend telling
me about it, and I can't remember if I was
still in high school or if I just graduate or whatnot.
I was young and I was too young to be
watching this show, because I remember, Uh, I got my
friend let me copies of it, and I watched it
(12:53):
with my dad, which it's a It's not something I
would recommend if watching with your your mom or your
dad because the amount of violence, Oh my god, the
violence is is definitely brutal, but it's it's there's worst
gorier things out there.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
It's the sex mostly just there's like tons of like
I I it's just so much sex.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
So but little Taylor was having a great time with it.
There's a Yeah, there's just an awesome story though. That's
that's involved here where just the gladiators like this one
to sum it up, and in short terms, here, uh,
these these guys were recruited by the Romans to help
fight and then they were betrayed and the Romans took
(13:37):
him prisoner and threw them into the arena. So his gladiators,
and so you have the main gladiator who becomes Spartakiss
and he basically gets his freedom or doesn't get it.
He takes his freedom by staging a rebellion and whatnot.
And I've not finished the show. I've watched season one
and two. I've not seen season three. There was another
spin off of Sparta Kiss, because I have a Spartakis
(13:58):
Blood and sand I think was the first one.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
And there's another spinoff and then.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
This House of Asher, So I believe Asher is he
was in the first show and he was like an
injured gladiator who kind of just like became like a
man of whispers if you can imagine what that kind
of a character would be like. And kind of like that,
yeah yeah, yeah, kind of like a snake or whatever,
making bets and whatnot, but playing all the sides.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
So him being in.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
This position, I've I'm not sure. I don't know how
he's come to this point in time to be running
his own house, running his own gladiators, but it seems
like he's an underdog. People are treating him like shit.
But like I said, I'm interested in this and I'm
gonna definitely give it a watch at some point, but
probably not right away.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Cool, okay, And with Spartacus is the name of a guy,
right mm hmm. And I was seeing the YouTube coments,
people are like both of them to call this thing
Spartacus House of Asher when there's when Spartacus is an
it is that what's going on here? Is he like
not in the show? Uh?
Speaker 1 (15:05):
If I remember correctly.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I think is he dead or something?
Speaker 2 (15:08):
I don't know if I remember correctly, I thought I
could be completely wrong, so don't quote me on this.
I thought that the character dies in the last season,
but I could be wrong.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I don't know. When this story takes place though.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Right, so maybe they're just trying to siphon off some
of that name value. Interesting that can that goes on,
that always goes great, right, mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Absolutely back to you. Yes, Okay, what should I pick here?
Speaker 2 (15:40):
You know what I'm I'm just gonna pick five nights
at Freddy's. No soon, soon, five nights at Freddy's.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
I I remember when we watched that first one. It was, okay,
I don't really know much about this world aside from
having played a little bit of the games. Rubin put
the VR head set on me and I had to
play fully immersed and that was terrifying. But this one
looks like it's a very, very much an improvement of
(16:10):
the first one. I like that we're kind of going
into the open world, but it just feels more like
high quality and it feels like it's kind of tackling
and going after.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
An original.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
It feels more in tune with the game to some
slight degree instead of that I don't know if that's
gonna make sense. The first one was very much reliant
on playing the card of like, hey, you know this
moment it's in the game, whereas this one it just
feels like the aesthetic is there instead of the scene
being blatantly copied from the game. I think that's what
I'm trying to say.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Okay, I gotcha. Yeah, a little more creative freedom perhaps
from this most material. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. Like
I've someone seen the first one, I got that same
vibe as you, though that maybe seems like a bit
more wider scope. You know, we're not just in that one.
And what is it? Is it an arcade? Is it
like an old Scandia vibe? What's going on?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah? Yeah, old Scandya, i'd say, is it.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Old Scandia, old amusement parks sort of energy? So yeah,
I don't know. I guess that's that's potentially interesting. But yeah,
I imagine the games don't go there necessarily, probably staying in
these weird amusement park things. So not much for me
to say this, you know, I think the first one
looked like a fairly generic core movie. This seems like
the same sort of thing. So but the first one
(17:27):
made big money, so I'm not surprised that this is
coming around. We'll probably got a third one too.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, the third one would be quite something.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
You got Josh Hutcherson in there, and he's always just
at the light the girl from from You season one, right, Oh,
that's right.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I didn't even click.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
For me the first Joe Goldberg victiary, I.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Think it is.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Yeah, I didn't even I didn't even make that connection.
I was just looking at Josh.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I gotta look at Josh. Yeah, but I don't think
I've seen her in anything else. So that's potentially the
first one.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Not no, not that I am member. Josh just had
there was a girl in Yeah, it wasn't wasn't pretty.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
It wasn't pretty bath.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Yeah, all right, well speaking about blood baths, how about
how about we talk about good fortune here? So god damn,
this has to be like the most the most like
sterile comedy script I've ever seen in my life. Like
this was an absolute fucking zero. And I feel bad
(18:30):
because he's un Sorry. I so he's like the writer
director on this, so it's like, you know, he's starring
in it's like his movie's right now. If he's done
other things like this. I like him as a guy.
He's funny. He definitely has a shtick. This actually does
seem like it's not him just doing his same, like squirrely,
high pitched like little stick that he's doing. So it's
maybe something different, but man like, it is hard to
(18:50):
make Seth Rogan not funny and he's just he's just
a nothing in this in this trailer, And like, I
like the idea of the casting here for Keanu, like
maying him like a you know what is it a
fairy godmother angel type type vibe the angel on your
shoulder coming down, I give some life advice and whatnot.
But like, god damn, just the writing in this is
(19:11):
absolute trash and I feel like if this is what
you if this is these are your best singers you
got for your trailer, I'm not hopeful for the rest
of this movie. So I I don't know. I would
rather watch Avatar, Fire and Ash than Good Fortune, I think.
I don't know if that's true actually just because of
how long Avatar is, but that's brutal, that's what. Well,
(19:34):
do you have a different Do you have a better
fortune for this one than I did?
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
I did enjoy the trailer, but I will a grease.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Seth Rogen is feeling pretty dry in here, and it's
definitely the Keanu Reeves stuff that makes me laugh the most.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
What made you laugh?
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Give me a funny moment that you liked. I thought, here,
but I need to know.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
So for example, one of the things I liked was
like the the other angels giving him grief about why
did you do this? Why'd you switch their lives around?
And he's like, well, I thought by showing him that
money isn't everything, uh, you know, then he'd find the answer.
But he kind of you know, money did solve all
his problems. You know I'm paraphrasing, but that line it
(20:18):
made me laugh. And when he's in the bed with
seth Rogen, you know, like the wings do matter when
you're trying to fly?
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I got small ways like that. I like that.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
I think it's just the way Keanu sells it. He's
got just a straight face.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
He's okay, I'm going to take my name. I didn't
feel like I don't know if he's trying to sell it.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
It's for people.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Am I alone on this island or do other people?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
You're not potential?
Speaker 3 (20:43):
I don't know. I think this look like a dud
on wheels.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
He's he's so bland about the things that he's saying
that it just that's that's making me laugh because it
feels like an innocent form of humor, whereas other characters
they're trying and I don't like when people are trying
hard to just be funny. Keanu is one of those
people that he just does things and and if he's
doing if he's doing it in John Wick, that's one thing.
But if he's just acting like very monotone in a
(21:10):
comedic atmosphere, it makes me laugh, which it's weird to
put it that way.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I see you, okay, Yeah, yeah, I get that. I
feel like most comedies have that kind of character, right,
like the straight man as it's.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Called, right, yeah, yeah, usually, but but it.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Feels like everyone the straight man. There's just no funny
people over there, all.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Just there you go, straight man.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Good.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Yeah. I think I think the idea is fun, but
I could have used over a little bit more, a
little more refinement.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Yeah yeah, yeah. Is that all the other ones? Aside
from the big hunk of honk?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
There's one more one battle after another okay, which with
Leo DiCaprio, Oh right right, yes, yeah, would you think
of that one?
Speaker 2 (22:01):
It caught me off guard because I remember seeing the
other trailer this is with Benicio del Toro, right, yes, yeah,
So I remember seeing the other trailer that felt a
little bit more comedic, and then watching this one it
just seemed like it it gives you a lot more
context of the story and it just is a lot
more serious than that previous trailer.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
I feel, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Don't know, I'm not rushing to see this one right away,
but I'll probably watch it, you know, eleven thirty at night,
it's a Saturday night. Everyone's to bed, and I'm just
looking for something to watch, and I'll probably put it on.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah. Interesting. Yeah, I mean I feel like when I
anytime I see DiCaprio in anything these days, I feel
like it's extremely it feels like he's extremely selective. Right,
He's either like trying to get some oscars or he's
just doing like highbrow things, like he's not really Like
I feel like maybe the weirdest thing he did was
like don't look up, But like that's still a really
(22:53):
great movie that has like a good message at all.
That it's just like more comedic focus, which is like
not really what he's normally doing. Other than that, it's
like he's going for like the biggest directors in town
that are just you know, pooping out oscars every day
of their life, and so this feels like one of
those to me to some extent. And so this director.
The last movie was Liquorice Pizza, which I did not
(23:14):
like that it was extremely overrated. So I'm not super
hyped on this. I don't know. I guess there wasn't
like a great hook in here. It seems like there's
a lot going on. It seems like almost a TV
series in terms of the amount of different storylines and
things going on in here. But I think this one
definitely has a lot of potential because of the cast,
because of you know, the talent behind it and all that.
So but you know, as as is kind of obvious
(23:36):
here off my pressure of the trailer, I'm gonna wait
and see kind of what the impression is from from
the discord in the realms around to see if this is, like,
I don't know, if this is supposed to be like
a big oscar movie contender. We'll see. It seems like
a bit early in the year for that maybe, but
I could see it being one of those potentially yeah
right now, yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Cool, Okay, Well listen gentlemen, the moment you've all been
waiting for. Dylan, tell me how excited you are for Avatar,
Fire and ash Avatar?
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Is this the first trailer? Second trailer? What's going on here?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Is the first trailer?
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Okay, yeah, I guess that's because people make a big
deal this for being before F four. Uh yeah, I mean,
you know, you can go back to the Wave of
Water review if you want to. I was the first
one to talk in our opening sequence, and then I
kind of ripped it open there. I was not a
fan of that movie, and uh, I pretty much said like, yeah,
I'm out. I'm out on Avatar. I'm you know, you're
(24:30):
You're not gonna get me back in the theater for
this next one. You know, a review will happen, I'm
sure with other people, but I'm not going to be
part of it. And after watching this trailer, I couldn't
be less interested in in Avatar. Is this is nothing
for me? It's funny, It's like I see this in
my obviously is a like good visuals and stuff, but
like I don't know, I just the characters don't work
(24:50):
for me, Like the tone feels very cheesy, but like
not intentionally so, and like, I just like that the
editing was actually rudin this trailer almost feels like I
feel like Jame Cameron is so big and with this
movie only the only marketing you need to do is
like for people to know that it exists and then
it has a release date. You know, you don't actually
need like a good trailer, And I don't think this
(25:11):
was a good trailer. But I'm also kind of a hater,
I guess, so that's totally a fair criticism. But I
just feel like the editing was really weird. You just
have like weird lines of dialogue across like this really
intense emotional music that just like wasn't working. I don't know,
it seems like more of just the second one, Like
I don't know what the evolution is here. I didn't
get much of the what the fire means, you know,
(25:32):
in terms of the symbolism of it. I'm I'm not
sure what's going on there. But I'm gonna leave this
review up to the professionals Akau and Kirkland and Travis
if he wants to join this time around. But I'm
still out on Avatar and I don't think there's a
single thing you could do to get me in on it. Honestly,
I don't I don't know if there I don't know
how this trailer could have been the best trailer I've
(25:53):
ever seen in my life. And I still don't think
I would be down to go see Avatar three.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
There you have it, My goodness.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
I I I love Avatar. That first one. I've watched
it again again and again. It's uh two thousand and nine.
Just the quality of that movie. It just visually is
a spectacle.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Uh. The second one, I I like it. I like
a fair bit.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
There's definitely some weak points to it, but it uh it.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
You know, I'm I'm always willing to take a tour
on Pandora. It's it's it's a dang good time. And
I'm I'm a sucker for.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
The emotional story points that these these Avatar movies are
putting out, just with nature and connecting with the animals
and and all that kind of stuff and just your
you know, your own humanity and and everything like that
and betraying your race.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
But I am I I was doubtful that we were
going to be getting this movie.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
It just felt surreal that we're going to be getting
this third one now after just I mean, it was
so long before we got the next one, like over
ten years, so it just didn't feel like we were
actually going to get another one right away. But no,
here we are, we're getting it. The trailer it doesn't
tell you much. It really only covers the basics that, Okay,
(27:14):
they're they're moving from one place to another, and the
next place they're moving to has other NAVI that exists there,
and these Navi are not friendly and they are fire
ash all that kind of stuff, and it's a totally
different playing field that we're we're dealing with. So it'll
be interesting to see how this goes.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
There is a lot of water stiffs camera. You know,
he likes the water.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
He loves the water. So you've got yeah, you've got the.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
You have like a parallel here where you have Jake Suley,
who has kind of taken over the role of becoming
a leader for all these these Navvi that live in
the trees, and then you've got Quorridge, who is basically
becoming the I'm assuming a leader, a very prominent representative
for the Fire and Ash clan. And you're going to
have these two square off against each other. Ultimately, I'm
(28:08):
just wondering, are we going to see the Fire and
Ash tribe team up with Jake Sully's tribe and have
just a unified Navvy planetary force just defend against the
humans because we know that the humans are coming to
Pandora to Terra format so that they can basically all
live there because Earth is dying. So I'm excited to
(28:30):
see kind of what the next step is in that
that narrative, because with the Way of Water just felt like, Okay,
well Jack Silly and his family are on the run.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
That's that's really it. We got a little a couple
of battles and they're just they're.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Hunting him down and and whatnot. So yeah, I'm looking
forward to seeing how this is going to set up
because we've got another few Avatar movies and the works.
They're they're not slowing down there, They're going full steam ahead.
So I am looking forward to it. I sent this
the trailer to my sister.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
My sister likes Avatar a lot, and I remember I
baby Me and Madison baby sat her kids so that
she could go with her husband to see Avatar. They
did face paint and everything when they went and saw it.
They were so they were so jazzed for it. But
I will say during Fantastic four, when the trailer played, uh,
some people in the theater laughed, not that the trailer.
I think it wasn't like a belly laugh, but it
(29:22):
was just like a.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Haha another avatar okay, haaay, like they're too good for it.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
I guess yeah, something like that or yeah, some along
those lines.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
But the point when Sigourney Weaver's characters like, oh no, Spider,
but it's like in like this really dramatic wing, it
was like really took me out of the took me
out of the emotion.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
There, Spider, I don't need you know, you can always
just you could pull a Spider out of there.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Let's get rid of them.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Yeah, I get about cool.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Well, I think that that does it for the uh,
the true It's railers. But we have a question that
when you do answer yes, so Maddie has graciously brought
back the rank trailers in terms of your excitement for
the project question.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
I missed this. I feel like the last couple wgs
I've been on, I haven't been asked to rank them,
and I can't rank them if I'm not asked to
do so, all right? Number one for me Eternity, number two,
one battle after another. Number three it Welcome to Darry.
Number four, Spartacus, number five, five nights of Freddy's. And
(30:36):
here is where I'm not I'm not just filled with hatred.
Number six for me is Avatar. Number seven is good Fortune.
Good Fortune is below Avatar and the trailer ranking for me.
So that's how you know I'm not completely biased against Avatar.
I'm gonna give it a chance. I'm not gonna see it.
I'm just saying I gave the trailer a chance. So
good Fortune. I'm sorry is these but your movie is
(30:58):
a bottom of the bottom of the heap.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
There we go, There we go.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
What am I gonna do? I'm gonna do. Number one
is it's Welcome to.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Dry That trailer got me. It got me really really excited.
Oh I'm dirty, dirty, dirty, got me really jazz. Number
two is Avatar fire and ash can't wait for that.
After that, I'm gonna say, I'll say five nights at Freddy's,
followed by good Fortune, followed by Eternity, and then one
(31:35):
battle after another.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Okay, so we almost we almost had a bit of
Philipero almost, but there was definitely some mirroring occurring.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Okay, good, I like that you do.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Cool. So we're gonna take our next ad break and
we'll be getting into the last little bit of our show.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
We'll be right back
