I want to give a little insurance, Give a little
happy insurance so that you're not waking up tuning into
the news that's everywhere, the headlines that will give you
a bad case of the a's anxious, angry, aggravated, annoyed.
We'll add one afraid. Instead, I want you to feel

(01:30):
amazing by tuning into the show About Hope and Happiness
now on for seven hundred and seven consecutive weeks. Let's
see that's I was saying, thirteen and a half. I
think we're over the halfway mark. Thirteen and a half years.
Not bad for a show that people said would not
last more than a year. And I'm really grateful that

(01:55):
I've been able to do this, and thanks to COVID
hashtag COVID silver Lining, I've been able to instead of
driving to Sunset Gower every morning, I'm now coming to
you from my loving room and we're just waiting. He's
getting ready. He's almost here, my co host today for

(02:18):
Straight Doc with myself and Hall of Famer Ricky Rebel.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
He'll be here in a second.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
But in the meantime, we're going to start the way
we usually start, which is take a bite of my
gratitude sandwich. What is that top of the bun? What
are some things that you're grateful for outside of yourself?
And then bottom of the bun? What we do before

(02:45):
we go to bed at night? What are we grateful
for inside of ourselves? What do we like and appreciate
about ourselves? So, oh, thanks for the heart. I just
saw that love having people come and join us as
we do this hour with you and how.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Before there you are.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
He's just joined us in studio. This is my co
host verst and third Fridays on my show. He is
has recently been inducted into the Hall of Fame. But
just in case you're here for the first time and
you're wondering who's in studio today, his name is Ricky Rebel.
He's a Billboard Top forty recording artist, as seen on

(03:29):
tour with Britney Tours Tours Britney Spears. He's been a
Grammy member since twenty seventeen, part of the voting member
for the Recording Academy. He was discovered by Michael Jackson,
signed to his label on Sony, and later signed to
Madonna's record labor label A Well, let me get some
coffee Maverick Records, and he launches his rich stream of discography, singles,

(03:53):
music videos on this show. So please welcome.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
Back to my studiockyrible, so good to be back.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Good morning, darling.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
How are you have you?

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I'm happy and grateful and we're going to launch right
into taking the bite of my gratitude sandwich. What are
you grateful for, Ricky Rebel?

Speaker 8 (04:23):
Well, I'm grateful for as the topic of the day
they being inducted into the American Entertainment Hall of Fame,
and you were there, and I'm so grateful that you
were there.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
It was so amazing.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
We'll talk more about that all show long, very worthy topics.
Not every day you get inducted into a Hall of Fame.
So yeah, I love that. I can say now, Ricky
Rebel hall of Famer, your newest title. I am grateful,
just so grateful for this show and how you know,

(04:59):
thirteen and a half years later, still here, still bringing
super incredible people as guests, as co hosts, as you know,
just the ability to counteract and balance out all of
the bad news out there with good news. So if
you're looking for headlines, sorry, we ain't talking about them here.

(05:21):
You got plenty of other Blazers to talk about it
to no end, literally to no end, because when you
have no control of the headlines, they're just going to
hurt your heartlines. Instead, you want to really have some
things to be celebrating and grateful for having your breakfast
of a gratitude sandwich wash down with some creative juice.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
Oh, let's get it. Let's get it.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Those are you grateful for?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Darling besides your cats.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
I know you love your I love my cats. Well,
let's talk about the basics. I'm grateful.

Speaker 8 (05:59):
I can see, I'm grateful, I can breathe my lungs.
I'm grateful to wake up this morning.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Yes you have, it's like we're alive. Wow, I'm grateful
for that time.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
I was like, okay, he's gotten it closed this morning.

Speaker 7 (06:19):
Yeah, I'm grateful to be here.

Speaker 8 (06:21):
And I apologize, no, no, no, none needed.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
This is rare that. Actually you beat me to the
studio last week, so we're even I did.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yes, I'm grateful. I always wear my like, you know,
top shelf stuff for for Ricky because I love that
he appreciates it. Louis Louis, Oh, I'm grateful. And this
is sort of bottom of the bun, but I'm grateful.

(06:58):
I have a fabulous red carpet dance partner. I actually
have a few, to be honest, but you're the only
one that's older than ten. I think I have one
that's ten and one that's six. So so you're you.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
You win.

Speaker 7 (07:13):
The Well that was I think that was. I think
we nailed it. We finally got this right.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Did you see the promo yesterday.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
Yes, it wasn't that. I re shared it for sure.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
You did, okay, because I was pretty proud of myself.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
That was perfect song?

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Right.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
We gotta play that one? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll try
to get it.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Up on Instagram, probably get a I don't care about
the copyright straight because I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
I've done pretty well this.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Week with my my own music videos. I have to say,
did you see that? I know you saw the shake
it the Shake It Off one.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
Too, yes, yes, yes, So.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
So I'll segue into the botom of the butt, which
is what do you like about yourself? And a lot
of us grew up with parents who were well meaning,
sometimes more mean them well, who would say, don't toot
your own horn, you're not all that, and yeah, we
want to be humble, but on the other hand, we
don't want to create what we have now, which is

(08:20):
generations of people who can't feel good about themselves, and
when they go to bed at night, they're thinking, oh,
what have I done? You know, didn't finish done wrong,
I shouldn't have said this, or I can't believe they
said that, And it's a horrible way, you know, one
you can't fall asleep, So I want you instead to
fall asleep highlighting What is it that you like about yourself?

(08:45):
Because everybody has unique gifts, talents and abilities, And so
I'll say I am grateful to Meta actually, and I
appreciate the recognition. During COVID, they approached me and said
we'd like you to be a digital creator.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
And I had no idea what the heck that was.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
And they said, just keep doing what you're doing and
we'll pay you. So I had no idea that I
was good at putting videos together. I had no idea
that that would be, you know, lead into filmmaking. I
had fun doing it. So I appreciate my ability to
put my own clips together and have people enjoy them.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
How's that?

Speaker 7 (09:30):
I love that. I love that what you like a
but yourself? I look about myself. When I'm putting a pressure,
I become a diamond.

Speaker 9 (09:42):
Hey, yay, it's true.

Speaker 8 (09:48):
That's what's happening. It's for the pressure is making diamonds now.
I put under a lot of pressure and now I'm
like a diamond.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
I'm diamonding.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
LP Vargas. Congratulations to Ricky on his induction and how
proud he is here.

Speaker 8 (10:08):
I love you, LP, thank you so much for your
support I have. I can tell you some stories about LP.
He is a music producer. He has a record label,
and he took me in and and helped me in
my career. So we could talk about LP later on.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
But I love you LP. Thank you. I'm grateful for
you as well.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
And we've got another love from an Occyentomon.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
I just love it when we're live. I do that
on purpose, lives where the action are. I appreciate my
ability to do live I didn't realize how different that
was than pre recorded until my past guest and friend
Laila Ali, who was featured in the movie I saw

(10:57):
last night.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Christy.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I'm going to text her today because I took a
little shot and I said, they did not do well
casting because you're way better looking than who depicted you
in that movie. But that aside, I I where was
I going with that? Oh yeah, the ability to do
live shows versus pre recorded that I have been doing

(11:21):
them now pretty much the whole time. And she said
because when she had her podcast Lilah Style Laylas Style,
I complimented her and she said, oh no, I'm not
in the big leagues yet, Like you. You know, doing
it live is a whole new ball game, so I
appreciate my ability.

Speaker 7 (11:41):
It is. Yeah, yeah it is.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
And one more thing for you, what do you like
about yourself? I like, as you're saying, I'm going to
say the thing that I the best, comp the best
the highlight of your induction ceremony, I mean, your dandy.
We'll talk about all of that, but the one unexpected

(12:07):
highlight was when your mom pulled me aside and said,
I'm gonna get emotional. She said, I don't know if
you really realize how much you've done for my son,
and he has, like I can't remember exactly, but it

(12:28):
was a compliment. And tears are the disinfectant that keep
your hearts off. So I'm not apologizing for tearing up
because to know that one life has breathed easier because
you have lived that is success and that's Emerson's definition.
So I'm successful because I've watched you. I've had front
row seats watching you just blossom. You haven't like you

(12:53):
are who you are you've always been, but to allow
yourself to like and a pre shade and enjoy yourself
and then life around you has been such an honor.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 8 (13:09):
Yeah, and you have been a big part of all
of this, this journey. Yeah and yeah, just to do
all the things that we're doing on this show. I
think it's really helped me in many many ways. In
many ways I think are subconscious too. I can't even
I'm not.

Speaker 10 (13:29):
Really of it, right, It's like, yeah, yeah, hard to articulate,
but but yeah, I mean if I pulled up your
you know when we started just the way you know.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
Yeah, Massa.

Speaker 8 (13:44):
In order for me to find what to wear today,
I have like these a look book, and so my
look book, it's it's me and my styl is like
picking out we put on clothes, we put you know,
different looks, boom boom, boom, and in a session will
do like maybe eight looks. So I go back in time,
I'm like, oh, I have on hair, like he looks
so sad. You know, I'm a much happier person now,

(14:07):
and I'm grateful for that. I'm grateful that I'm letting,
you know, you go back to the bottom of the bun,
that I'm allowing myself to be more joyful in my life,
less critical.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yes, good, And as a result of that, it's like thor,
you know when you allow for the goose, and you'd
come out to allow for everything around and all the
things that you've invited to do. Vegas, the Hall of Fame,
the discography, the new album, the you know, all of

(14:39):
this stuff. It's my bs, my belief system that you know,
that's all your desires, everybody's desires, they're all already done
in the in the energetic field, and all we have
to do is quit being pissed off. I'm sorry. Bottom

(15:00):
line drop the moose.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
Drop, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Yeah, I don't talk about the elephant in the room
that's putting the moose on the table. Moose drops came
out of that because I was born in Canada. For
those of you, maybe I don't know some of you
that are coming on here that I don't recognize the name.
So so I'm just explaining why we just did that.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Uh Nurius Cela.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
I don't know what that means.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
I hope it's positive.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Hold on no mae antero donata ha ha ha, I.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Like the haha.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
And Julia Hardy welcome love love love.

Speaker 11 (15:44):
So yeah, all right, let's finish with breakfast, cheers, joy,
the best life ever and joy, Yes, yes, and joy
my joy juice, George Juice.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
I'm being one with my coffee. All right.

Speaker 3 (16:05):

Speaker 8 (16:49):
The day, it is straight Talk with Hall of Famer
Ricky Rebel and doctor Marisa hashtag Asian Oprah.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
For those of you who think I name myself that,
I was actually introduced to Oprah as the Asian Oprah
by my big brother Michael. But back with and she said.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Nice pants.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
And it took everything for me not to say do
you want them? You get?

Speaker 1 (17:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (17:26):
You know, I was gonna get to my car without
my pants.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
So what was the where were you guys?

Speaker 5 (17:32):
At?

Speaker 7 (17:32):
Were you at?

Speaker 4 (17:33):
A got?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
She did? And there's a longer story that I don't
want to take up time.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
U remind me to tell you about that.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Are you coming Sunday?

Speaker 7 (17:46):
I can't.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
I'm recording discussion with someone.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
Are you going?

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Yeah, because I thought you were going.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
You made me go.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
Last time I did.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
About a fashion show.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
We we we you get to be judges for fashion shows.
This time she's not doing the judging, so I just
get to be a VIP guest. But this is a
Layla's Fashion shows. Of those of you who are free
on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
I believe it's not sold out yet.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
I don't even know. I think you can get a
free ticket, just Asian Oprah giveaway. Tell her that I
said you could go for free.

Speaker 7 (18:24):
I hit us up and we'll connect to you.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah. Yeah, it's at the Whiskey House or something like that.
But it's a very fun time. I'll be there in
the afternoon. So the topic is, let's do you want
to talk about the journey to becoming a Hall of Famer?

Speaker 7 (18:43):
Yeah I do. Yeah, I have the award right here.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
I never got a shot at the award because I
had to leave early. And it was a good thing.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
I did you know. I hydroplaned on the way home.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Thank god, I didn't have an accident because it was
raining so bad that night.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
It was so rainy. Oh my god.

Speaker 8 (19:01):
The fact that you guys came in the rain it
was a typhoon meant so much.

Speaker 7 (19:09):
I know.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
I want to do a story with the award up,
so just kidry a second, because I didn't do the
story that we were on live. Yes and yes, okay, pretty,
let's see and then you'll get the background. Here we go, Hey,
join us live. Guess what Ricky's a ward. He's a

(19:34):
Hall of Famer. That's what we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
To join us live?

Speaker 3 (19:38):
I no on my.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
YouTube TV channel of my life. Okay, go ahead. Did
you put the road to Hall of Fame?

Speaker 7 (19:49):
I'm going to re post it. So the road to
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
The road to Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
I mean, let's talk a bit about like your longevity.
I mean it's not you started when you were quite young,
so it's almost like you've had various chapters of your
music life. So especially for people who have been with you.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
A while, and.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
I love your people are so chatty.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
The rebels are very chatty. I love it. Uh did
I say your name round?

Speaker 3 (20:25):
Julia?

Speaker 7 (20:26):
Julia?

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Okay, so yeah, for people who who maybe don't know
sort of the iterations or the chapters of your musical life.

Speaker 7 (20:38):
Yeah, well my musical life.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
I started off in the boy band No Authority. We
were signed to Michael Jackson's label when I was sixteen
years old, and we made an album. We went on
tour in Europe. I opened for someone named Aaron Carter.
Remember Nick Carter's brother. Yeah, he was crazy, crazy boy
running around and he he loved me and we got

(21:02):
along very well on tour. And he was like a
little beetle back in that era, like a beetle, like
like you know the Beatles.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
He was like that popular in Europe insect.

Speaker 8 (21:13):
Well, he's lived like that too. He was a poor babe.
He passed away recently, Yeah, like a couple years ago.
I believe Aaron Carter. Yeah, very sad.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Should I ask how?

Speaker 7 (21:30):
And I believe.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
I'll look it up, overlook it up?

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Yeah, because you know how, I like not to conjecture here.

Speaker 8 (21:39):
Yeah, yeah, it was very sad. He had a very
difficult life.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
But back then he was on top of the world.

Speaker 8 (21:47):
And he had like so many screaming girls everywhere, to
the point when we would we would go to our
hotel room and girls would be hiding in the closet
when we got there.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
In our hotel, I swear we'd walk in and we
hear with no clothes on. They would they had clothes.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
On, but we would go to sleep on I'm gonna
take a nap because we're retired. We were jet lagged
in London. I took a nap and almost.

Speaker 7 (22:10):
Like ah, they come. They pop out and they start
and they started hugging me. They on top of me.

Speaker 8 (22:16):
It was crazy. We had to call security. We had
girls that were like after the tour bus, like shaking
our bus, like side to side, no way point where
like we got a little we got scared. They're they're
shaking our tour bus, throwing the little training bras at us.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
It was crazy, training Bras, priceless, priceless.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
That was the the boy band era, and that lasted
for a while until like nine to eleven, and we
did end up going on tour. Brittany and I did
end up meeting Madonna in that era. My one of
my big musical heroes of all time. But Madonna taught
me a lot of lessons, Like you're teaching me about
how to look at the beautiful things in life. Look

(23:05):
at the beautiful pictures, look at the beautiful things, look
at the good things in life. Madonna's a different type
of teacher. Madonna was like, express yourself, don't repress yourself.
She had her different finger up a lot to society,
to different things that she wanted, that she believed in,
that injustices, and she was very forceful. So I had

(23:28):
a very different type of tutor, and so I kind
of went off of that. Does that make sense?

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Total total, like that whole rebellious woman.

Speaker 8 (23:39):
I like another Leo by the way, who I really Yeah?

Speaker 7 (23:45):
Yeah, big Leo.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Interesting.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
So I'm balancing that out.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
You know, I think me trying to be things that
I'm not it always it leads to not very good outcomes.
I think it's a lesson I've learned over time. But
back then I was like, yeah, I want to have
that kind of forceful attitude. And it got me to
a lot of accomplish a lot of things, you know,
But there's a consequence to it. I became Ricky Rebel

(24:14):
after like around nine to eleven happened. The music industry
really died at that time, and so I had to
learn how to produce my own music. And I finally
got the opportunity to do that, and I picked up
pro tools, I picked up the acoustic guitar, started writing
kind of like my own, like kind of mix of

(24:35):
prints Madonna, different influences, Michael Music.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
Beatles, I love the Beatles.

Speaker 8 (24:42):
Just started writing my own stuff, and finally I had
the courage to actually release it. I released my first
single called get It On Ricky Rebel Get It On
around twenty ten, and it was just so crazy at
that time, talk about manifestation. I would in a pilates
class wearing like these like leggings, and there was a

(25:06):
somebody came up to me and put a picture on
the table and she said, this is you, Boom and
she was a casting director and it was a sketch
of this character in like little leggings, leggings with a
helmet and like a crop top and a gun and
a laser gun.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
And she said, this is you and we're gonna cast you.

Speaker 8 (25:28):
You're gonna be in the my Chemical romance videos they
have and they want you to be this character called
show Pony.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
I was like, oh my god. Literally, I was like, you.

Speaker 8 (25:38):
Have a fitting Like the next tomorrow if you can
make it. And I'm like, yeah, of course, I love
And it was just so crazy because they had MTV
there and I took the helmet off and my hair
was like just gorgeous, like long, you know, beautiful and whatever.
It was a moment and then so all their fans

(25:59):
like who is that boy who show pony? You know,
and I gained a ton of followers like instantly on
Ricky Rebel on my accounts because of that.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
I didn't know this part.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
I love learning new things.

Speaker 7 (26:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (26:16):
The lead singer Gerard Way, and I've watched him on set.
He was so amazing and he loves me. He tweets
me every now and then. Ricky is a force of nature.
Ricky's this that he loves me and I love him
and I loved watching him. He taught me a lot
about what it means for an artist to really take

(26:38):
control of the vision, because before that it was just
I was signed to Sony, I was signed a Maverick
and we kind of had a kind.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
Of to do with they.

Speaker 8 (26:47):
You know, they give us three options, like well, you
could have Porscha's in the car, you could have blonde,
blue eyed girls or this girl. You know, they'll give
you options of what how they want the video to look.
You can have this director or this or this director,
but it's really there in control of what's happening.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
The choices, right, it could only be right. It's one
of those choices, like you had a choice.

Speaker 7 (27:12):
If we're lucky, we get three and we were great.
I was grateful for it because it's like a million
dollar video.

Speaker 8 (27:18):
They're producing it, so but I got to see someone
the first person in action, like really taking control. Oh,
I think you know, we'll make sure this this thing
is over here. I think I wanted over here and
make sure the camera is like this and when no,
that's not low enough that it needs.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
To start up higher and that design.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
Everything he had from the background to and I've never
seen an artist like do that, Ricky King, you spin
faster spin.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
I was on roller skates.

Speaker 8 (27:48):
I said I could roller skate, and I I.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
Had only done like, what's the one with the blade?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Oh, roller blading instead of roller skating.

Speaker 8 (28:04):
Yeah, I know how to rollerblade. I knew how to rollerblade,
but I roller skating is different.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
It's very different.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
Four wheels, very different.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Yeah, yeah, two lines instead of.

Speaker 7 (28:15):
One I put those on, like, oh my gosh, this
is so crazy. Take it till you make it, baby.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the definition of a consultant. I
can do that. Now, what was it you wanted? That's
where we are very similar that way.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
You know.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Well, you know, part of it is if someone says
to you, I don't think you can do that, and
I think that's that negative motivation you're talking about with Madonna.
It's like you're motivated, but from that angry few place,
which is a very different place. It works, right, you
get stuff done, and I did that for decades, Like

(28:58):
I haven't always been this positive, trust me, but I would,
you know, and I would be angry and you know
you can't. There's no way you're going to be able
to finish that. Oh yeah, watch me, you know, which
is great, except that you know when you're doing it,
you're not happy while you're doing it because you're just
feeding off of that. I'll show that, which is not
a very you know, happy place.

Speaker 7 (29:21):
So true, it's not a happy place. It's not fulfilling.

Speaker 8 (29:26):
Yeah, you know, you know, when I was I got
to confess when I was a performer back in that
era and even up to kind of recent eras I
was like thinking on stage like, oh, you think I'm this,
so I'm going to do this now.

Speaker 7 (29:39):
Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (29:40):
I don't think that way anymore.

Speaker 13 (29:43):
Yeah, yeah, But back in the day, I was like
really judged, yeah, critically, so that that inner judge is like,
oh you think I can't do this, well, I'm going
to do this now.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
It was crazy right way anymore?

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Yeah, Which is which is if you go back in
our place list of when you did the Hollywood Rebel
Report and our first i'd say six or seven, just
the way in which you would describe your past was
different too.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
And it's from.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
That well they said this, and they said that, And
I'm not putting you down at all. I'm just marking
the difference because that was you know, when you can
move from blame and anger and shame into oh, acceptance
and gratitude and looking what you do want versus what

(30:34):
you don't want or hate about something, but what you
like about something. The shift is dramatic right in happiness
and you just feel people ask me all the time,
why are you so positive? And frankly, my dear, there's
one bottom line reason moosdrop. Is it just forking feels

(30:58):
better when I'm positive? Yeah, I mean, okay, drama queens.
I am a recovering drama queen and yes, me too.
When you're angry in that first it feels good, right,
and then you feel like crap. And I don't want to.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Feel like Chautaki most of my life.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
And so you know, no matter what it is.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Okay, be part of the change, but don't be pissed.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
Off about it.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
So crazy anyway, speaking of stage, you killed it. You
did two songs or three three songs, right, yeah, songs
and first song was on your own, and man, you
did some moves. And he looks young for those of young,
I'm not gonna say how old he is. He's ageless,

(31:52):
ass take ageless like me. And but it really made
me respect. You work hard every working your body out,
strength training, keeping those you know, six packs and and
it's not easy. And he teaches polate, he does pilate's
and way better than me. And and my body shows

(32:15):
that I'm not as blisciplined in the physical aspect of
things as Ricky.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
But you were.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Doing kicks and spins and singing at the same time.
No Millie Vanilli or whatever, who's that one who wasn't
really singing, but you were singing and it was really good,
So kudos.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
I wanted to tell you that.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Thank you. You know, and I know I'm biased, but
honestly I'm not biased because if you see the the
film of his dancing, I have some of the clips
on my social doc balance, but dang, thank you. And

(32:58):
then he brought out two dancers, and all the respect
to the dancers, but you know, you know how sometimes
when singers bring out the dancers and you know, they
do some of the moves and they're like sort of
you know, you can tell they're not like dancers because
the dancers are dancing, and then the singers have dance

(33:19):
and then sing it. Right you are again, no no
shade on the dancers, but you were the best dancer
even with your dancers, so they're great. But that again,
was very impressive about your performances.

Speaker 7 (33:35):
So I appreciate it. I appreciate it, I love.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
It, and you could take it in. That's another difference
for Ricky finishing bottom of the button, bottom of the butt,
is that you can take the compliments, whereas before you
hated doing this. Because even if I someone complimented you,
you would go, oh, thank you, and then inside it's like, ah,
but I didn't do this, or oh yeah, you didn't

(33:59):
know about this.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Blah blah blah blah. That inner critic drives you your life.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Car over a cliff.

Speaker 7 (34:05):
It does.

Speaker 8 (34:08):
I put on I've shared if you can, if you
want to share the screen I put on Instagram, we
can maybe look at some some pictures and whatnot of
the event, and I want to show you you.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
Oh wait, this is the wrong one. Let's go back there.

Speaker 5 (34:26):
We are.

Speaker 7 (34:29):
Warner Brothers.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's so funny.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
I got that shot too.

Speaker 7 (34:33):
Oh did you do that one? Yes, such a good shot,
it is.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I got I even I got one more thing than
you did the water tower.

Speaker 7 (34:42):
Oh yeah yeah.

Speaker 8 (34:44):
So this is Robert Eboch, a big producer who just
want to grammy last year.

Speaker 7 (34:48):
My friend. That's us walking backstage. That's Nicole in the middle.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Skuylaer really good dancers, very good.

Speaker 8 (34:57):
You have to check out their stuff, especially sky Tyler.
She is un believable on heels.

Speaker 7 (35:06):
She puts on heels and look at this one.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Who that is?

Speaker 7 (35:12):
I love it?

Speaker 4 (35:14):
It's beautiful. There's that's love, right, there.

Speaker 7 (35:17):
So much love. Yeah, I think it's Devin. Devin's a model, yes,
and producer.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
He is.

Speaker 7 (35:25):
Do you know him? My, he loves you huh.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Social, I know.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
It's so great.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
He's a nice guy.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
It's so nice.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
Yeah, very cool. Yeah, and there we are. Yay, that's
the boys. It's the breakdown.

Speaker 8 (35:44):
Seven and eight and one, two, three and four, five, six,
seven and eight hit hit hit hit hit ha ha ha.
Diggy Jiggy went into and three look for up five
ex seven around the world, around the world. She she
seven and eight and one back two three back four
five pull seventh.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
That's what I'm talking about. That's exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 7 (36:08):
Like his shot, dance.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
And the choreography. Did you choreograph.

Speaker 7 (36:17):
That I did? Not a boy named Chancellor choreograph dot?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
He did a great job.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
And you guys phenomenally.

Speaker 7 (36:27):
That's mama, what a great shot.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
I meant to tell her.

Speaker 7 (36:31):
She doesn't like it. I'm like, wow, what are you talking? No, No,
that's a great beautiful she's very talking about critic.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Yes, yeah, well I know where you got it from.

Speaker 7 (36:41):
Yeah. She looks at everything.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
On the jet.

Speaker 7 (36:47):
That's my father.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Now. That was the second most favorite part of the night.
I was looking for my seat because I was told
that there was a seat with my name on it.
So I'm like walking around looking for the name, couldn't
find the name, and I feel a tap on my
shoulder and I turn around and your dad goes, hi,
doctor Marissa.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
He's dad, And I'm like cute because you know, he said,
I've heard so much about you.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
It's such an honor to meet you.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
I'm like, oh my gosh, so adorable.

Speaker 8 (37:23):
Yeah, my dad. We always say my dad's going to heaven.
He my mom and I are like, we don't know
about He's just kidding.

Speaker 7 (37:32):
But like my dad.

Speaker 8 (37:34):
He's the kind of guy that rehabilitates lizards, like if
they if he finds one that's like needs rehabilitation, he'll
help help it come back to life. He a bird
had a broken wing, and he fixed the broken We
gave it a cast.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Yeah, he's he looks like that.

Speaker 7 (37:53):
He's that guy.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah, angelic and soft whose energy was so pure when yeah,
like I could he he's a.

Speaker 7 (38:04):
He's got a sword, trust me.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
Okay, yeah, I only felt the broken wing.

Speaker 8 (38:12):
Yeah, always like a like an armor. I just the
way I describe him. Like a like a soul, like
a somewhat like a fight a fighter. You know, he's
got the armor on and everything, but he also is
chivalrous and honorable, you know, and.

Speaker 7 (38:28):
Like a knight, like a night. Yeah, my father's a knight.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Oh that's so great.

Speaker 7 (38:33):
I love my daddy. And then this is the number
you saw the first number by myself?

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Yeah, now was was this? And this is also I
want to credit.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
I think there was something that didn't go right, and
there was no visual with your introduction and or there
was supposed to be visual all throughout and it didn't
happen for your because you opened the whole.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Thing like you were the first performer. But if you didn't,
and before I think you would been, I would have
felt it from you, like as you were performing. But
it's like you were completely in the zone and not
at all affected by what was going on around you.
Was I right?

Speaker 8 (39:20):
Yeah, Well, there were several things that didn't happen the
way I wanted to. But at the end of the day,
I'm like, you know, oh, as far as as far
as my performance, if you want to, you know, get
down to brass tacks about like, okay, how I ideally
would want it. But I was just so grateful and
honored to be there, I mean with all of you.

(39:43):
And also the fact that Champagne Champagne King was there, Yes,
this woman, and I was just she's in the front row,
so I'm just talk about my gratefulness.

Speaker 7 (39:56):
Overload was just on Max.

Speaker 8 (39:59):
So you used to dance to this woman's music in
ballet class with Marguerite. Derek's one of the top choreographers
of all time, and we would dance to Shame every
ballet class on Saturday. So her music is just seared
into my spirit. And so when I saw that she

(40:21):
was there and she's actually performing and she's getting inducted,
I was like, I don't care if it's in my
first Sony sound system or whatever. It was a great
sounds It was fine everything. It was a good sound system.
It was great, and like so I'm just grateful for
every single aspect of things that were good about it.
And like, for instance, I wanted to have, like you said,

(40:42):
like a music video play in the background, but I
realized because I didn't know I could. That was the
thing I with producers. I asked the producer if I
could have one, and I don't think he sent me
the email back. So I just kind of figured no
that they don't have video playback option, but they did,

(41:04):
and I got those like oh my gosh, this thing
will look so cool with the videos playing. So I said, uh, sir,
can I can I quickly make a video and send
it to you and P four And he's like, yeah, sure,
if you want, Yeah, we'll try to make it work.
I'm like okay, and I just quickly went on my
phone and started making the video. And then as I

(41:25):
was looking at it, I was like, oh no, I don't.

Speaker 7 (41:27):
Think I could. I could put this video up there.
There were a lot of children there. Does that make sense?
Like I was darling? Yeah, I was sometimes girls and the.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
High school great high school band and dancers and their
core group. Yeah, that would have been completely you know,
And this is you know, a sensitivity that I again,
you have shifted where it's not all about you.

Speaker 7 (42:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Oh that's a great shot. And guess who might be
coming on here? No my part of the story. Go ahead,
keep going.

Speaker 7 (42:14):
Are you serious?

Speaker 14 (42:17):
Heck?

Speaker 7 (42:17):
Yes, Oh my gosh, that's so cool.

Speaker 8 (42:21):
I want her and I to do a song or
I want to cover her song.

Speaker 7 (42:26):
I'm going to do it.

Speaker 4 (42:27):
Yeah, do it? Do it?

Speaker 13 (42:29):
It is?

Speaker 4 (42:30):
Oh you did get the water tower?

Speaker 8 (42:32):
I thought, I you know who got that shot. That's
Mom's shot, Debbie Godinez.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
No, wait for mine?

Speaker 7 (42:39):
Ye one too.

Speaker 8 (42:41):
Yes, so this this, this man was inducted as well
Tony Valentino, the godfather of punk the Standell's.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
That's who that is.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Yeah, because I you know, I left. I had a
call time at six am. The next morning. I was
on stage at Agape International for their thirty ninth anniversary.

Speaker 4 (43:10):
So I left early.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
I was there for you, and.

Speaker 7 (43:13):
Uh you left early?

Speaker 1 (43:15):
Was it?

Speaker 7 (43:15):
Gobe?

Speaker 3 (43:17):
No? I left early from the induction, I stayed. You know,
we got our shots. I watched you.

Speaker 7 (43:23):
Oh yeah, I thought you sayed the whole time. Yeah,
pretty much the whole no I had.

Speaker 3 (43:27):
I had a six am call time and it was
nine thirty eight, and according to the program, we were
not even like we were a quarter the way through,
and uh so I snuck out, and plus it was
raining and I knew that I had to drive slow
all the way home.

Speaker 7 (43:46):
So well we got the most masterful spin of all time.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, you're ready for it?

Speaker 7 (43:52):
And share it?

Speaker 4 (43:53):
Did you share it?

Speaker 7 (43:55):
Wait? I can't share that is it? Look at this?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
Spin that and I the music while we wouldn't want
to get a copient.

Speaker 7 (44:13):
I have to turn it off.

Speaker 8 (44:14):
Yeah yeah yeah, but look at the pose at the end.

Speaker 7 (44:19):
This is what's going to get it every time you
got to pose there it is?

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Was that incredible?

Speaker 7 (44:27):
That was incredible?

Speaker 4 (44:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (44:29):
Incredible.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
So I'm gonna now show.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
What I got to see who's is better? Because I'm
not competitive at all?

Speaker 7 (44:42):
You made it reel?

Speaker 3 (44:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (44:44):
So where is that reel?

Speaker 3 (44:46):
Here?

Speaker 7 (44:46):
It is right there on the left right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (44:49):
So this is mine? See that?

Speaker 7 (44:52):
Oh I like that? Oh yeah, that's hot.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
Rick, he taught me how to spin by the way
on the red cart and all credits that for sure,
spin and pose. Yes, the outfit is by Carolyn. She's
a designer. I thank you. She's been designing for me
for a while.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
You could play your interview. Oh no, it's okay, it's okay.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
Yeah, I think you interview people, right, Uh, well, good
news for people.

Speaker 5 (45:31):
Great awards.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
This is the.

Speaker 5 (45:37):
That did really well? Do I like it?

Speaker 4 (46:02):
He looks like Michael Jackson in that one.

Speaker 7 (46:07):
Yeah, perfect picture.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
Yeah, isn't that great?

Speaker 7 (46:20):
I was tired too.

Speaker 3 (46:36):
We had the loudest cheering session.

Speaker 14 (46:40):
Yeah, we're up there like, oh my god, it was
such a great so you.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Know me as the Asian Oprah, we're boarding live on
this gorgeous carpet where somebody just what fous congratulations, there's mama,
there's Mama.

Speaker 7 (47:10):
She meant the heart make some gold.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
You know, I put your stuff in the background.

Speaker 8 (47:25):
Yeah, oh my god, we've posed.

Speaker 9 (47:36):
And sometimes oh my god, ah, you won.

Speaker 8 (47:57):
You captured the moment. That was fantastic. All right, that
was so fantastic.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
So there's our recap and uh, I hope you enjoyed
it as much as.

Speaker 7 (48:15):
Going to share that right now.

Speaker 8 (48:16):
I'm going to share that right now. Doc Balance on Instagram.

Speaker 7 (48:22):
Give a shout out.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (48:26):
I didn't see that one I've only seen before.

Speaker 5 (48:28):
Good.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
I'm glad you got that. You there you go in
the house a j You were beat out by LP Vargas.
He became the captain of my cashw gallery. I was
expecting you to be the captain again, but glad that
you made it in.

Speaker 8 (48:46):
Yeah, AJK Rebel shout out to you. Yeah, the fun guy,
Thank you, sir.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
It's a long long time rebel.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
He's probably the for you.

Speaker 4 (48:56):
Said he was the first rebel.

Speaker 7 (48:57):
I think it was like one of my first rebels.

Speaker 4 (48:59):
Yeah, that is so cool.

Speaker 7 (49:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (49:03):
So how does it feel now to be a Hall
of Famer.

Speaker 7 (49:08):
It feels good. It feels really good.

Speaker 8 (49:12):
Like I said, I had no idea that these other
people were legends, were apart.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
Yeah, So, yes, who's coming on the.

Speaker 4 (49:22):
Show for sure? We have a date already?

Speaker 3 (49:25):
Is David Longoria. Do do you remember he was? I'm
saving the clips of him to put up for the
promo when I announced he's coming on. And the reason
why I said that Champagne's coming on is because I
left right, I said early, So I only got to
see you and a couple others that were not you know,

(49:48):
and David. I did see David, and the names escape me.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
But David is hilarious. Okay, so he is so hilarious.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
So once we scheduled, he's coming on with he's bringing
his newest project. She was married to Elvish for a
short time and then they're doing a project together, So
he's bringing her on. I'll have to look at the date,
uh and have you pop in and if you're not

(50:24):
in studio, but I will have you because I said
to him. You know, I didn't get a chance to meet,
and I would love you know, some of the inductees,
and he goes, oh, I can get the two that
I had in my head that I wanted. He goes,
those two right, So Champagne was one, and then there's
another one that I don't remember, but long time, you know,

(50:48):
iconic performers, and he names those two and I'm like,
I just have to have a desire, and boom, the
friendly universe goes, Okay, no problem.

Speaker 7 (51:00):
Love David. I love him. He has a big studio
in Hollywood. He's a cool guy.

Speaker 8 (51:04):
And Robert Eboch who remixed my song, he works at
that studio. And David and Robert won Grammy last year
for Best Best Children's Album.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
And then then again, I didn't know that it was
you who knew the other. That's pretty cool.

Speaker 7 (51:26):
Daved Longoria as well.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
No, no, no, the the one that won the Grammy
with him, Robert.

Speaker 8 (51:32):
Yes, yes, I'm very and I met Robert through LP Vargas,
the guy who congratulated us in the very beginning.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
Wow small zero degrees of separation, Yeah, one hundred degrees
of connection. That's my newest little play with words.

Speaker 7 (51:50):
It's so good.

Speaker 8 (51:51):
It's so good lately, you know, I've been doing these
shows and just really great, finding the things to be
grateful for, less about looking at what's not right about something,
and it's just such a much more enjoyable experience, and
I find myself having more fun and I'm not having

(52:15):
any temper tantrums.

Speaker 3 (52:16):
Yay, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, highlight that one do.

Speaker 8 (52:29):
With my residencies, I've had. I have one temper tantrum.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
Right, it's eighty eight percent fabulous. Twelve percent of the
time you can allow yourself to step in it.

Speaker 8 (52:43):
And it wasn't anything to do with professional and nothing
to do with like the staging or anything or I mean,
I've done the Residency in Vegas and we're gonna have
a bunch of dates happening, by the way, in January, February,
and March. I'm so grateful for it. April Diamond, who's
also connected with David Longer. Yeah, it's been amazing that
the residency is incredible and so much fun. I've done

(53:07):
those shows and then I did the Fashion Show Awards
and we won Best Performer at the ifs M Fashion Awards,
and I know zero tep of town trips.

Speaker 7 (53:15):
Nothing.

Speaker 8 (53:16):
I just did this inauguration. No nothing, the one type
of ten trim I had. You're not gonna believe this rehearsal.

Speaker 7 (53:24):
My mom was there. I had rehearsal and I was
rehearsal for like six hours and I hadn't eaten.

Speaker 3 (53:32):
And that's dangerous, hungry, angry, lonely, tired.

Speaker 7 (53:37):
I called mom.

Speaker 8 (53:39):
I was like, Mom, cay, please make sure they have
a cheeseburger for me when I get the you know,
he ordered me a cheeseburger, French fries, thank you so
much in a day coke.

Speaker 7 (53:47):
She's like, okay, okay, okay, hun, and she's so sweet.
My mom's so sweet.

Speaker 3 (53:52):
She's like very sweet. You know.

Speaker 7 (53:55):
It was just a monster.

Speaker 8 (53:56):
I was so I got there and she's like, okay, Hun,
so we can go and I'm gonna order your food now.

Speaker 7 (54:04):
I'm like, Mom, you're gonna order the food now. I'm
like I thought it would be.

Speaker 8 (54:11):
And that wasn't the temper trup. I was like, okay,
I was calm. I'm like, I'm just gonna sit here
and I'll wait for you. I put my head out.
I was so hungry and Thailand.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
Oh well, that's not really.

Speaker 7 (54:25):
That wasn't the trum. We got to the we actually
she's like, they're not ready. They're not ready yet.

Speaker 8 (54:32):
They don't you know. We'll just go to the restaurant.
I'm like, okay, we'll go sit at the restaurant. And
I was still like, Mom, I wish it was here.

Speaker 7 (54:39):
I'm really young. And she's like, okay, we'll just go.
And then we got sat down. They order the food
and they gave me the thing and I scarfed up
the cheeseburger and the french and I drink the drinks
and the waitress goes, sir, would you like some more coke?

(55:03):
I was like coke. She's like yeah. She's like. Mom
was like, yeah, I got you a coke. I didn't
know if you want to coke or die coke. I'm like, Mom,
do you know how much sugar is in a coke?

Speaker 3 (55:24):
And I know that you apologize?

Speaker 7 (55:26):
I apologize, Yes, I'm sure you did.

Speaker 8 (55:29):
On the top to the bottom, I kept we call
it Pepsi Gate because it wasn't coke.

Speaker 7 (55:34):
It was pepsi.

Speaker 8 (55:37):
And I was so upset, but really it was I
was so illogical because I was too hungry and I
spent the rest of the time apologizing because she did
a she's done a million, million million things for me
in my career, in my life.

Speaker 7 (55:50):
And just being there.

Speaker 8 (55:53):
Uh so we ended up having a great time. We
laugh about it now, we call it Pepsi.

Speaker 4 (55:57):
Gate, Pepsi gate.

Speaker 7 (55:59):
But for me to go from like all of those
shows and not have.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
Is it's just it's a miracle.

Speaker 7 (56:05):
It's huge. It's a miracle. It's it's a freaking miracle.
I was the guy who would be like backstick because
because who's my hero Madonna? Yeah, she got mad a lot.
Uh huh, she got mad a lot. Yeah, for sound problems,
for lighting problems for people not x y z and

(56:27):
x y z x y z and the bubba ba
and the bubba. She's that girl. Yeah, that was my tutor. Yeah,
and and and.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Let's not you know, this is why our society values
the perfectionist. I mean, you know where I work eighty
hours yay, that means you're really good or I want
to do it one hundred takes until we get it perfect.
Oh that's good. You're a perfectionist. And honestly, that's part
of my message is that perfectionism is a dis ease

(57:00):
with life. I mean, on one hand, yeah, you get
a lot done. On one hand, you accomplish a lot,
but you're never happy because even if you finish it
or get it, you know, eighty eight percent perfect, you're
not happy with the eighty percent you did get done.
You're always looking at that twelve percent that isn't done
yet or isn't perfect. And you can't control everything, so

(57:24):
then you're always in that anxious place, that angry, discontented,
you know, on the edge.

Speaker 15 (57:33):
Right, you're let seagate like all of your life because
you can never relax into enjoying you know what you
have done.

Speaker 3 (57:45):
And that's why you know, this generation now is getting
a lot of flak for not caring so much about
work because they want experiences and they want to go
out in travel because they've watched their parents work their
assets off and bes did and now you know they're retired.
They're not healthy enough to go anywhere.

Speaker 7 (58:08):
Right, So two minute call time?

Speaker 3 (58:12):
Oh shoot, two minutes. Oh we didn't even we didn't
even take a break for news weather in traffic, I'm
gonna get in trouble. But hey, no bad words today.
You don't have to take me shopping the final word
in thirty seconds.
